That the communication of thy faith
may become
effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.
I pray that your
partnership in the faith
may become effective as you fully acknowledge every good thing that is ours in Christ.
Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
For every high priest taken from among men is ordained for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins:
Every high priest is appointed from among men to represent them in matters relating to God, to offer gifts and sacrifices for sins.
That by two
immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong
consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us:
Thus by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope set before us may be strongly encouraged.
And as I
may so say, Levi also, who receiveth
tithes, payed
tithes in Abraham.
And so to speak, Levi, who collects the tenth, paid the tenth through Abraham.
How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God,
purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself
unblemished to God,
purify our consciences from works of death, so that we
may serve the living God!
And for this cause he is the
mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the
redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.
Therefore Christ is the
mediator of a new covenant, so that those who are called
may receive the promised eternal inheritance, now that He has died to
redeem them from the transgressions committed under the first covenant.
Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second.
Then He adds, “Here I am, I have come to do Your will.” He takes away the first to establish the second.
For they
verily for a few days
chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his
holiness.
Our fathers disciplined us for a short time as they thought best, but God disciplines us for our good, so that we
may share in His
holiness.
And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is
lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be
healed.
Make straight paths for your feet, so that the
lame may not be disabled, but rather
healed.
And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are
shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be
shaken may remain.
The words “Once more”
signify the removal of what can be
shaken—that is, created things—so that the
unshakable may remain.
Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we
may serve God
acceptably with reverence and godly fear:
So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.
So we say with confidence: “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?”
Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit
yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they
may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.
Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they watch over your souls as those who must give an account. To this end, allow them to lead with joy and not with grief, for that would be of no advantage to you.
But I
beseech you the rather to do this, that I
may be restored to you the sooner.
And I especially
urge you to pray that I
may be restored to you soon.
Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great
shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the
everlasting covenant,
Now
may the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great
Shepherd of the sheep,
Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever.
Amen.
equip you with every good thing to do His will. And
may He
accomplish in us what is pleasing in His sight through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory
forever and ever.
Amen.
But let
patience have her perfect work, that ye
may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
Allow
perseverance to finish its work, so that you
may be
mature and complete, not lacking anything.
Yea, a man
may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works:
shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will
shew thee my faith by my works.
But someone will say, “You have faith and I have deeds.” Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds.
Behold, we put bits in the horses’ mouths, that they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body.
When we put bits into the mouths of horses to make them obey us, we can guide the whole animal.
Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask
amiss, that ye
may consume it upon your lusts.
And when you do ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you
may squander it on your pleasures.
Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye
may be
healed. The
effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
Therefore
confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you
may be
healed. The prayer of a righteous man has great power to prevail.
In this you greatly
rejoice, though now for a little while you
may have had to suffer grief in various trials
That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
so that the
proven character of your faith—more precious than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—
may result in praise, glory, and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
As
newborn babes, desire the
sincere milk of the word, that ye
may grow thereby:
Like
newborn babies,
crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you
may grow up in your salvation,
Having your conversation
honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they
may by your good works, which they shall behold,
glorify God in the day of
visitation.
Conduct
yourselves with such honor among the Gentiles that, though they
slander you as evildoers, they
may see your good deeds and
glorify God on the day He visits us.
For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye
may put to silence the ignorance of
foolish men:
For it is God’s will that by doing good you should silence the ignorance of
foolish men.
Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives;
Wives, in the same way, submit
yourselves to your husbands, so that even if they refuse to believe the word, they will be won over without words by the
behavior of their wives
Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but
contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are
thereunto called, that ye should
inherit a blessing.
Do not repay evil with evil or
insult with
insult, but with blessing, because to this you were called so that you
may inherit a blessing.
Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they
may be
ashamed that falsely
accuse your good conversation in Christ.
keeping a clear conscience, so that those who
slander you
may be put to shame by your good
behavior in Christ.
For the time past of our life
may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in
lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and
abominable idolatries:
If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things
may be
glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever.
Amen.
If
anyone speaks, he should speak as one conveying the words of God. If
anyone serves, he should serve with the strength God provides, so that in all things God
may be
glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory and the power
forever and ever.
Amen.
But
rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye
may be
glad also with exceeding joy.
But
rejoice that you share in the sufferings of Christ, so that you
may be overjoyed at the revelation of His glory.
Humble
yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he
may exalt you in due time:
Humble
yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, so that in due time He
may exalt you.
Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through
lust.
Through these He has given us His precious and magnificent promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, now that you have escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.
Moreover I will endeavour that ye
may be able after my
decease to have these things always in
remembrance.
And I will make every effort to
ensure that after my departure, you will be able to recall these things at all times.
That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:
by recalling what was
foretold by the holy prophets and commanded by our Lord and
Savior through your apostles.
Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be
diligent that ye
may be found of him in peace, without spot, and
blameless.
Therefore, beloved, as you
anticipate these things, make every effort to be found at peace—spotless and
blameless in His sight.
That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also
may have
fellowship with us: and truly our
fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.
We
proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also
may have
fellowship with us. And this
fellowship of ours is with the Father and with His Son, Jesus Christ.
And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.
We write these things so that our joy may be complete.
And now, little children,
abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we
may have confidence, and not be
ashamed before him at his coming.
And now, little children, remain in Christ, so that when He appears, we
may be
confident and unashamed before Him at His coming.
Herein is our love made perfect, that we
may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.
In this way, love has been perfected among us, so that we may have confidence on the day of judgment; for in this world we are just like Him.
These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
I have written these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.
And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.
And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true—in His Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.
Look to
yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward.
Watch
yourselves, so that you do not lose what we have worked for, but that you
may be fully rewarded.
Having many things to write unto you, I would not write with paper and ink: but I trust to come unto you, and speak face to face, that our joy may be full.
I have many things to write to you, but I would
prefer not to do so with paper and ink. Instead, I hope to come and speak with you face to face, so that our joy
may be complete.
Beloved, I wish above all things that thou
mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.
Beloved, I pray that in every way you
may prosper and enjoy good health, as your soul also prospers.
We therefore ought to receive such, that we might be fellowhelpers to the truth.
Therefore we ought to support such men, so that we may be fellow workers for the truth.
Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye
may be tried; and ye shall have
tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.
Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Look, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison to test you, and you will suffer
tribulation for ten days. Be faithful even unto death, and I will give you the crown of life.
I counsel thee to
buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou
mayest be rich; and white
raiment, that thou
mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and
anoint thine eyes with
eyesalve, that thou
mayest see.
I counsel you to
buy from Me gold refined by fire so that you
may become rich, white garments so that you
may be clothed and your shameful nakedness not exposed, and
salve to
anoint your eyes so that you
may see.
And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth:
Yea, saith the Spirit, that they
may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.
And I heard a voice from heaven telling me to write, “Blessed are the dead—those who die in the Lord from this moment on.” “
Yes,” says the Spirit, “they will rest from their labors, for their deeds will follow them.”
That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great.
so that you
may eat the flesh of kings and commanders and mighty men, of horses and riders, of
everyone slave and free, small and great.”
Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
Blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they may have the right to the tree of life and may enter the city by its gates.
But to speak unto our lord the king, to the intent that, if it be thy pleasure it may be sought out in the books of thy fathers:
And these keep watch round about him, neither may any one depart, and do his own business, neither disobey they him in any thing.
That offerings may be made to the most high God for the king and for his children, and that they may pray for their lives.
That they
may look unto the affairs of
Judea and Jerusalem,
agreeably to that which is in the law of the Lord;
With that also which is given of the people for the temple of the Lord their God at Jerusalem: and that silver and gold
may be collected for bullocks, rams, and lambs, and things
thereunto appertaining;
To the end that they may offer sacrifices unto the Lord upon the altar of the Lord their God, which is in Jerusalem.
And thou,
Esdras, according to the wisdom of God
ordain judges and justices, that they
may judge in all Syria and Phenice all those that know the law of thy God; and those that know it not thou shalt teach.
Moreover ye shall never seek to have peace with them, that ye
may be strong, and eat the good things of the land, and that ye
may leave the inheritance of the land unto your children for
evermore.
Go thy way, and
shew my people their sinful deeds, and their children their wickedness which they have done against me; that they
may tell their children’s children:
What shall I do unto thee, O Jacob? thou, Juda, wouldest not obey me: I will turn me to other nations, and unto those will I give my name, that they may keep my statutes.
That thou bring them to confusion, and their mother to a
spoil, that there
may be no offspring of them.
Go, and ye shall receive: pray for few days unto you, that they
may be
shortened: the kingdom is already prepared for you: watch.
The number of thy children, whom thou longedst for, is fulfilled:
beseech the power of the Lord, that thy people, which have been called from the beginning,
may be
hallowed.
I do not remember how this way
may be left: Are they then of Babylon better than they of
Sion?
And said, Come, let us go and make war against the sea that it may depart away before us, and that we may make us more woods.
The floods of the sea also in like manner took counsel, and said, Come, let us go up and
subdue the woods of the plain, that there also we
may make us another country.
For like as the ground is given unto the wood, and the sea to his floods: even so they that dwell upon the earth may understand nothing but that which is upon the earth: and he that dwelleth above the heavens may only understand the things that are above the height of the heavens.
So he answered me, and said, Go thy way to a woman with child, and ask of her when she hath fulfilled her nine months, if her
womb may keep the birth any longer within her.
Then I prayed, and said, May I live, thinkest thou, until that time? or what shall happen in those days?
He answered me, and said, As for the
tokens whereof thou askest me, I
may tell thee of them in part: but as touching thy life, I am not sent to
shew thee; for I do not know it.
And I said, O Lord that bearest rule, who may know these things, but he that hath not his dwelling with men?
As for me, I am unwise: how
may I then speak of these things
whereof thou askest me?
Then answered he me, and said, The creature
may not
haste above the maker; neither
may the world hold them at once that shall be created therein.
For like as a young child may not bring forth the things that belong to the aged, even so have I disposed the world which I created.
And
hasten not with the times that are past, to think vain things, that thou
mayest not
hasten from the latter times.
For this is the life
whereof Moses spake unto the people while he lived, saying, Choose thee life, that thou
mayest live.
O Lord, if thou suffer not thy servant, that we may pray before thee, and thou give us seed unto our heart, and culture to our understanding, that there may come fruit of it; how shall each man live that is corrupt, who beareth the place of a man?
That the thing which is fashioned
may be
nourished for a time, till thou disposest it to thy mercy.
And she said unto me, Sir, let me alone, that I
may bewail myself, and add unto my sorrow, for I am
sore vexed in my mind, and brought very low.
And therefore
shake off thy great
heaviness, and put away the multitude of sorrows, that the Mighty
may be
merciful unto thee again, and the Highest shall give thee rest and ease from thy labour.
And then shalt thou hear as much as thine ears
may comprehend.
That all the earth may be refreshed, and may return, being delivered from thy violence, and that she may hope for the judgment and mercy of him that made her.
Comfort me then, and
shew me thy servant the interpretation and plain difference of this fearful vision, that thou
mayest perfectly comfort my soul.
And teach them to the wise of the people, whose hearts thou knowest
may comprehend and keep these secrets.
But wait thou here
thyself yet seven days more, that it
may be shewed thee,
whatsoever it pleaseth the Highest to declare unto thee. And with that he went his way.
The Highest shall stay the springs of the stream again, that they may go through: therefore sawest thou the multitude with peace.
But if I have found grace before thee, send the Holy Ghost into me, and I shall write all that hath been done in the world since the beginning, which were written in thy law, that men may find thy path, and that they which will live in the latter days may live.
And it came to pass, when the forty days were filled, that the Highest spake, saying, The first that thou hast written
publish openly, that the worthy and unworthy
may read it:
But keep the seventy last, that thou mayest deliver them only to such as be wise among the people:
Where the nations of the
dragons of Arabia shall come out with many
chariots, and the multitude of them shall be carried as the wind upon earth, that all they which hear them
may fear and
tremble.
The great and mighty clouds shall be
puffed up full of wrath, and the star, that they
may make all the earth afraid, and them that dwell therein; and they shall pour out over every high and eminent place an
horrible star,
Fire, and
hail, and flying swords, and many waters, that all fields
may be full, and all rivers, with the abundance of great waters.
A sword is sent upon you, and who may turn it back?
A fire is sent among you, and who
may quench it?
