But Pharaoh shall not
hearken unto you, that I
may lay my hand upon Egypt, and bring forth mine armies, and my people the children of Israel, out of the land of Egypt by great judgments.
Pharaoh will not
listen to you. Then I will lay My hand on Egypt, and by mighty acts of judgment I will bring the divisions of My people the Israelites out of the land of Egypt.
And thou shalt say unto him, The LORD God of the Hebrews hath sent me unto thee, saying, Let my people go, that they may serve me in the wilderness: and, behold, hitherto thou wouldest not hear.
Then say to him, ‘The LORD, the God of the Hebrews, has sent me to tell you: Let My people go, so that they
may worship Me in the wilderness. But you have not
listened until now.
And the LORD spake unto Moses, Say unto Aaron, Take thy rod, and stretch out thine hand upon the waters of Egypt, upon their streams, upon their rivers, and upon their ponds, and upon all their pools of water, that they may become blood; and that there may be blood throughout all the land of Egypt, both in vessels of wood, and in vessels of stone.
And the LORD said to Moses, “Tell Aaron, ‘Take your staff and stretch out your hand over the waters of Egypt—over their rivers and canals and ponds and reservoirs—that they may become blood.’ There will be blood throughout the land of Egypt, even in the vessels of wood and stone.”
And the LORD spake unto Moses, Go unto Pharaoh, and say unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Let my people go, that they may serve me.
Then the LORD said to Moses, “Go to Pharaoh and tell him that this is what the LORD says: ‘Let My people go, so that they may worship Me.
Then Pharaoh called for Moses and Aaron, and said, Intreat the LORD, that he may take away the frogs from me, and from my people; and I will let the people go, that they may do sacrifice unto the LORD.
Pharaoh summoned Moses and Aaron and said, “Pray to the LORD to take the frogs away from me and my people. Then I will let your people go, that they may sacrifice to the LORD.”
And Moses said unto Pharaoh, Glory over me: when shall I intreat for thee, and for thy servants, and for thy people, to destroy the frogs from thee and thy houses, that they may remain in the river only?
Moses said to Pharaoh, “You may have the honor over me. When shall I pray for you and your officials and your people that the frogs (except for those in the Nile) may be taken away from you and your houses?”
And he said, To
morrow. And he said, Be it according to thy word: that thou
mayest know that there is none like unto the LORD our God.
“
Tomorrow,” Pharaoh answered. “
May it be as you say,” Moses replied, “so that you
may know that there is no one like the LORD our God.
And the LORD said unto Moses, Say unto Aaron, Stretch out thy rod, and
smite the dust of the land, that it
may become
lice throughout all the land of Egypt.
Then the LORD said to Moses, “Tell Aaron, ‘Stretch out your staff and strike the dust of the earth, that it may turn into swarms of gnats throughout the land of Egypt.’”
And the LORD said unto Moses, Rise up early in the morning, and stand before Pharaoh; lo, he cometh forth to the water; and say unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Let my people go, that they may serve me.
Then the LORD said to Moses, “Get up early in the morning, and when Pharaoh goes out to the water, stand before him and tell him that this is what the LORD says: ‘Let My people go, so that they may worship Me.
And I will
sever in that day the land of
Goshen, in which my people dwell, that no swarms of
flies shall be there; to the end thou
mayest know that I am the LORD in the midst of the earth.
But on that day I will give special treatment to the land of
Goshen, where My people live; no swarms of
flies will be found there. In this way you will know that I, the LORD, am in the land.
And Pharaoh said, I will let you go, that ye may sacrifice to the LORD your God in the wilderness; only ye shall not go very far away: intreat for me.
Pharaoh answered, “I will let you go and sacrifice to the LORD your God in the wilderness, but you must not go very far. Now pray for me.”
And Moses said, Behold, I go out from thee, and I will intreat the LORD that the swarms of
flies may depart from Pharaoh, from his servants, and from his people, to
morrow: but let not Pharaoh deal
deceitfully any more in not
letting the people go to sacrifice to the LORD.
“As soon as I leave you,” Moses said, “I will pray to the LORD, so that
tomorrow the swarms of
flies will depart from Pharaoh and his officials and his people. But Pharaoh must not act
deceitfully again by refusing to let the people go and sacrifice to the LORD.”
Then the LORD said unto Moses, Go in unto Pharaoh, and tell him, Thus saith the LORD God of the Hebrews, Let my people go, that they may serve me.
Then the LORD said to Moses, “Go to Pharaoh and tell him that this is what the LORD, the God of the Hebrews, says: ‘Let My people go, so that they may worship Me.
And the LORD said unto Moses, Rise up early in the morning, and stand before Pharaoh, and say unto him, Thus saith the LORD God of the Hebrews, Let my people go, that they may serve me.
Then the LORD said to Moses, “Get up early in the morning, stand before Pharaoh, and tell him that this is what the LORD, the God of the Hebrews, says: ‘Let My people go, so that they may worship Me.
For I will at this time send all my plagues upon thine heart, and upon thy servants, and upon thy people; that thou mayest know that there is none like me in all the earth.
Otherwise, I will send all My plagues against you and your officials and your people, so you may know that there is no one like Me in all the earth.
For now I will stretch out my hand, that I
may smite thee and thy people with
pestilence; and thou shalt be cut off from the earth.
For by this time I could have stretched out My hand and struck you and your people with a plague to
wipe you off the earth.
And in very deed for this cause have I raised thee up, for to
shew in thee my power; and that my name
may be declared throughout all the earth.
But I have raised you up for this very purpose, that I might display My power to you, and that My name might be proclaimed in all the earth.
And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch forth thine hand toward heaven, that there
may be
hail in all the land of Egypt, upon man, and upon beast, and upon every
herb of the field, throughout the land of Egypt.
Then the LORD said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand toward heaven, so that
hail may fall on all the land of Egypt—on man and beast and every plant of the field throughout the land of Egypt.”
And Moses said unto him, As soon as I am gone out of the city, I will spread abroad my hands unto the LORD; and the
thunder shall cease, neither shall there be any more
hail; that thou
mayest know how that the earth is the LORD’S.
Moses said to him, “When I have left the city, I will spread out my hands to the LORD. The
thunder will cease, and there will be no more
hail, so that you
may know that the earth is the LORD’s.
And the LORD said unto Moses, Go in unto Pharaoh: for I have
hardened his heart, and the heart of his servants, that I might
shew these my signs before him:
Then the LORD said to Moses, “Go to Pharaoh, for I have
hardened his heart and the hearts of his officials, that I
may perform these
miraculous signs of Mine among them,
And that thou mayest tell in the ears of thy son, and of thy son’s son, what things I have wrought in Egypt, and my signs which I have done among them; that ye may know how that I am the LORD.
and that you
may tell your children and grandchildren how severely I dealt with the Egyptians when I performed
miraculous signs among them, so that all of you
may know that I am the LORD.”
And Moses and Aaron came in unto Pharaoh, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD God of the Hebrews, How long
wilt thou refuse to humble
thyself before me? let my people go, that they
may serve me.
So Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and told him, “This is what the LORD, the God of the Hebrews, says: ‘How long will you refuse to humble
yourself before Me? Let My people go, so that they
may worship Me.
And Pharaoh’s servants said unto him, How long shall this man be a
snare unto us? let the men go, that they
may serve the LORD their God: knowest thou not yet that Egypt is destroyed?
Pharaoh’s officials asked him, “How long will this man be a
snare to us? Let the people go, so that they
may worship the LORD their God. Do you not yet
realize that Egypt is in ruins?”
And he said unto them, Let the LORD be so with you, as I will let you go, and your little ones: look to it; for evil is before you.
Then Pharaoh told them, “May the LORD be with you if I ever let you go with your little ones. Clearly you are bent on evil.
Not so: go now ye that are men, and serve the LORD; for that ye did desire. And they were driven out from Pharaoh’s presence.
No, only the men may go and worship the LORD, since that is what you have been requesting.” And Moses and Aaron were driven from Pharaoh’s presence.
And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand over the land of Egypt for the locusts, that they
may come up upon the land of Egypt, and eat every
herb of the land, even all that the
hail hath left.
Then the LORD said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand over the land of Egypt, so that the locusts
may swarm over it and
devour every plant in the land—everything that the
hail has left behind.”
Now therefore
forgive, I pray thee, my sin only this once, and intreat the LORD your God, that he
may take away from me this death only.
Now please
forgive my sin once more and appeal to the LORD your God, that He
may remove this death from me.”
And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand toward heaven, that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, even darkness which may be felt.
Then the LORD said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand toward heaven, so that darkness
may spread over the land of Egypt—a
palpable darkness.”
And Pharaoh called unto Moses, and said, Go ye, serve the LORD; only let your flocks and your herds be stayed: let your little ones also go with you.
Then Pharaoh summoned Moses and said, “Go, worship the LORD. Even your little ones may go with you; only your flocks and herds must stay behind.”
And Moses said, Thou must give us also sacrifices and burnt offerings, that we may sacrifice unto the LORD our God.
But Moses replied, “You must also provide us with sacrifices and burnt offerings to present to the LORD our God.
But against any of the children of Israel shall not a dog move his tongue, against man or beast: that ye
may know how that the LORD
doth put a difference between the Egyptians and Israel.
But among all the Israelites, not even a dog will
snarl at man or beast.’ Then you will know that the LORD makes a distinction between Egypt and Israel.
And the LORD said unto Moses, Pharaoh shall not
hearken unto you; that my wonders
may be multiplied in the land of Egypt.
The LORD said to Moses, “Pharaoh will not
listen to you, so that My wonders
may be multiplied in the land of Egypt.”
Your lamb shall be without
blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats:
Your lamb must be an
unblemished year-old male, and you
may take it from the sheep or the goats.
And in the first day there shall be an holy
convocation, and in the seventh day there shall be an holy
convocation to you; no manner of work shall be done in them, save that which every man must eat, that only
may be done of you.
On the first day you are to hold a sacred assembly, and another on the seventh day. You must not do any work on those days, except to prepare the meals—that is all you may do.
But every man’s servant that is bought for money, when thou hast
circumcised him, then shall he eat thereof.
But any slave who has been purchased
may eat of it, after you have
circumcised him.
In one house shall it be eaten; thou shalt not carry forth ought of the flesh abroad out of the house; neither shall ye break a bone thereof.
It must be eaten inside one house. You are not to take any of the meat outside the house, and you may not break any of the bones.
And when a stranger shall
sojourn with thee, and will keep the
passover to the LORD, let all his males be
circumcised, and then let him come near and keep it; and he shall be as one that is born in the land: for no
uncircumcised person shall eat thereof.
Unleavened bread shall be eaten seven days; and there shall no
leavened bread be seen with thee, neither shall there be
leaven seen with thee in all thy quarters.
And it shall be for a sign unto thee upon thine hand, and for a
memorial between thine eyes, that the LORD’S law
may be in thy mouth: for with a strong hand hath the LORD brought thee out of Egypt.
It shall be a sign for you on your hand and a reminder on your
forehead that the Law of the LORD is to be on your lips. For with a mighty hand the LORD brought you out of Egypt.
And I will
harden Pharaoh’s heart, that he shall follow after them; and I will be honoured upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host; that the Egyptians
may know that I am the LORD. And they did so.
And I will
harden Pharaoh’s heart so that he will pursue them. But I will gain honor by means of Pharaoh and all his army, and the Egyptians will know that I am the LORD.” So this is what the Israelites did.
Is not this the word that we did tell thee in Egypt, saying, Let us alone, that we may serve the Egyptians? For it had been better for us to serve the Egyptians, than that we should die in the wilderness.
Did we not say to you in Egypt, ‘Leave us alone so that we may serve the Egyptians’? For it would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the wilderness.”
And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand over the sea, that the waters
may come again upon the Egyptians, upon their
chariots, and upon their
horsemen.
Then the LORD said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand over the sea, so that the waters
may flow back over the Egyptians and their
chariots and
horsemen.”
Then said the LORD unto Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or no.
Then the LORD said to Moses, “Behold, I will rain down bread from heaven for you. Each day the people are to go out and gather enough for that day. In this way I will test whether or not they will follow My instructions.
This is the thing which the LORD hath commanded, Gather of it every man according to his eating, an
omer for every man, according to the number of your persons; take ye every man for them which are in his tents.
This is what the LORD has commanded: ‘Each one is to gather as much as he needs. You
may take an
omer for each person in your tent.’”
And Moses said, Let no man leave of it till the morning.
Then Moses said to them, “No one may keep any of it until morning.”
Six days ye shall gather it; but on the seventh day, which is the sabbath, in it there shall be none.
For six days you may gather, but on the seventh day, the Sabbath, it will not be there.”
See, for that the LORD hath given you the sabbath, therefore he giveth you on the sixth day the bread of two days;
abide ye every man in his place, let no man go out of his place on the seventh day.
Understand that the LORD has given you the Sabbath; that is why on the sixth day He will give you bread for two days. On the seventh day,
everyone must stay where he is; no one
may leave his place.”
And Moses said, This is the thing which the LORD commandeth, Fill an
omer of it to be kept for your generations; that they
may see the bread
wherewith I have fed you in the wilderness, when I brought you forth from the land of Egypt.
Moses said, “This is what the LORD has commanded: ‘Keep an
omer of
manna for the generations to come, so that they
may see the bread I fed you in the wilderness when I brought you out of the land of Egypt.’”
Wherefore the people did
chide with Moses, and said, Give us water that we
may drink. And Moses said unto them, Why
chide ye with me? wherefore do ye
tempt the LORD?
So the people
contended with Moses, “Give us water to drink.” “Why do you
contend with me?” Moses replied. “Why do you test the LORD?”
Behold, I will stand before thee there upon the rock in
Horeb; and thou shalt
smite the rock, and there shall come water out of it, that the people
may drink. And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel.
Behold, I will stand there before you by the rock at
Horeb. And when you strike the rock, water will come out of it for the people to drink.” So Moses did this in the sight of the elders of Israel.
Hearken now unto my voice, I will give thee counsel, and God shall be with thee: Be thou for the people to God-ward, that thou
mayest bring the causes unto God:
Now
listen to me; I will give you some advice, and
may God be with you. You must be the people’s representative before God and bring their causes to Him.
And let them judge the people at all seasons: and it shall be, that every great matter they shall bring unto thee, but every small matter they shall judge: so shall it be easier for
thyself, and they shall bear the burden with thee.
Have these men judge the people at all times. Then they can bring you any major issue, but all minor cases they can judge on their own, so that your load
may be
lightened as they share it with you.
And the LORD said unto Moses, Lo, I come unto thee in a thick cloud, that the people may hear when I speak with thee, and believe thee for ever. And Moses told the words of the people unto the LORD.
The LORD said to Moses, “Behold, I will come to you in a dense cloud, so that the people will hear when I speak with you, and they will always put their trust in you.” And Moses relayed to the LORD what the people had said.
There shall not an hand touch it, but he shall surely be stoned, or shot through; whether it be beast or man, it shall not live: when the
trumpet soundeth long, they shall come up to the mount.
No hand shall touch him, but he shall surely be stoned or shot with arrows—whether man or beast, he must not live.’ Only when the ram’s horn sounds a long blast may they approach the mountain.”
Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
Honor your father and mother, so that your days may be long in the land that the LORD your God is giving you.
And Moses said unto the people, Fear not: for God is come to prove you, and that his fear may be before your faces, that ye sin not.
“Do not be afraid,” Moses replied. “For God has come to test you, so that the fear of Him
may be before you, to keep you from
sinning.”
And if a man lie not in wait, but God deliver him into his hand; then I will
appoint thee a place
whither he shall
flee.
If, however, he did not lie in wait, but God allowed it to happen, then I will
appoint for you a place where he
may flee.
But if a man come
presumptuously upon his neighbour, to
slay him with
guile; thou shalt take him from mine altar, that he
may die.
But if a man schemes and acts
willfully against his
neighbor to kill him, you must take him away from My altar to be put to death.
If there be laid on him a sum of money, then he shall give for the
ransom of his life
whatsoever is laid upon him.
If payment is demanded of him instead, he
may redeem his life by paying the full amount demanded of him.
But the seventh year thou shalt let it rest and lie still; that the poor of thy people
may eat: and what they leave the beasts of the field shall eat. In like manner thou shalt deal with thy
vineyard, and with thy oliveyard.
but in the seventh year you must let it rest and lie
fallow, so that the poor among your people
may eat from the field and the wild animals
may consume what they leave. Do the same with your
vineyard and olive
grove.
Six days thou shalt do thy work, and on the seventh day thou shalt rest: that thine ox and thine
ass may rest, and the son of thy
handmaid, and the stranger,
may be refreshed.
For six days you are to do your work, but on the seventh day you must cease, so that your ox and your
donkey may rest and the son of your
maidservant may be refreshed, as well as the foreign resident.
Thou shalt keep the feast of
unleavened bread: (thou shalt eat
unleavened bread seven days, as I commanded thee, in the time appointed of the month
Abib; for in it thou camest out from Egypt: and none shall appear before me empty:)
You are to keep the Feast of
Unleavened Bread as I commanded you: At the appointed time in the month of
Abib you are to eat
unleavened bread for seven days, because that was the month you came out of Egypt. No one
may appear before Me empty-handed.
Thou shalt not offer the blood of my sacrifice with
leavened bread; neither shall the fat of my sacrifice remain until the morning.
You must not offer the blood of My sacrifices with anything
leavened, nor
may the fat of My feast remain until morning.
And Moses alone shall come near the LORD: but they shall not come
nigh; neither shall the people go up with him.
Moses alone shall approach the LORD, but the others must not come near. And the people may not go up with him.”
And the LORD said unto Moses, Come up to me into the mount, and be there: and I will give thee tables of stone, and a law, and commandments which I have written; that thou mayest teach them.
Then the LORD said to Moses, “Come up to Me on the mountain and stay here, so that I may give you the tablets of stone, with the law and commandments I have written for their instruction.”
And let them make me a sanctuary; that I may dwell among them.
And they are to make a sanctuary for Me, so that I may dwell among them.
And thou shalt put the
staves into the rings by the sides of the ark, that the ark
may be borne with them.
Insert the poles into the rings on the sides of the ark, in order to carry it.
And thou shalt make the
staves of
shittim wood, and overlay them with gold, that the table
may be borne with them.
Make the poles of
acacia wood and overlay them with gold, so that the table
may be carried with them.
And thou shalt make the seven lamps thereof: and they shall light the lamps thereof, that they may give light over against it.
Make seven lamps and set them up on the lampstand so that they
illuminate the area in front of it.
Fifty loops shalt thou make in the one
curtain, and fifty loops shalt thou make in the edge of the
curtain that is in the coupling of the second; that the loops
may take hold one of another.
Make fifty loops on one
curtain and fifty loops on the end
curtain of the second set, so that the loops line up opposite one another.
And thou shalt make fifty taches of brass, and put the taches into the loops, and couple the tent together, that it may be one.
Make fifty bronze clasps and put them through the loops to join the tent together as a unit.
And thou shalt
hang up the
vail under the taches, that thou
mayest bring in thither within the
vail the ark of the testimony: and the
vail shall divide unto you between the holy place and the most holy.
And
hang the
veil from the clasps and place the ark of the Testimony behind the
veil. So the
veil will separate the Holy Place from the Most Holy Place.
And thou shalt put it under the compass of the altar beneath, that the net may be even to the midst of the altar.
And take thou unto thee Aaron thy brother, and his sons with him, from among the children of Israel, that he
may minister unto me in the priest’s office, even Aaron,
Nadab and
Abihu,
Eleazar and
Ithamar, Aaron’s sons.
“Next, have your brother Aaron brought to you from among the Israelites, along with his sons
Nadab,
Abihu,
Eleazar, and
Ithamar, to serve Me as priests.
And thou shalt speak unto all that are wise hearted, whom I have filled with the spirit of wisdom, that they
may make Aaron’s garments to
consecrate him, that he
may minister unto me in the priest’s office.
You are to
instruct all the skilled
craftsmen, whom I have filled with a spirit of wisdom, to make garments for Aaron’s
consecration, so that he
may serve Me as priest.
And these are the garments which they shall make; a
breastplate, and an
ephod, and a
robe, and a
broidered coat, a
mitre, and a
girdle: and they shall make holy garments for Aaron thy brother, and his sons, that he
may minister unto me in the priest’s office.
These are the garments that they shall make: a breastpiece, an
ephod, a
robe, a
woven tunic, a
turban, and a
sash. They are to make these holy garments for your brother Aaron and his sons, so that they
may serve Me as priests.
The rings of the breastpiece shall be
tied to the rings of the
ephod with a cord of blue yarn, so that the breastpiece is above the
waistband of the
ephod and does not
swing out from the
ephod.
And thou shalt put it on a blue lace, that it
may be upon the
mitre; upon the
forefront of the
mitre it shall be.
Fasten to it a blue cord to mount it on the
turban; it shall be on the front of the
turban.
And it shall be upon Aaron’s
forehead, that Aaron
may bear the iniquity of the holy things, which the children of Israel shall
hallow in all their holy gifts; and it shall be always upon his
forehead, that they
may be accepted before the LORD.
And it will be worn on Aaron’s
forehead, so that he
may bear the iniquity of the holy things that the sons of Israel
consecrate with regard to all their holy gifts. It shall always be on his
forehead, so that they
may be acceptable before the LORD.
And thou shalt put them upon Aaron thy brother, and his sons with him; and shalt
anoint them, and
consecrate them, and
sanctify them, that they
may minister unto me in the priest’s office.
After you put these garments on your brother Aaron and his sons,
anoint them,
ordain them, and
consecrate them so that they
may serve Me as priests.
They must eat those things by which
atonement was made for their
ordination and
consecration. But no outsider
may eat them, because these things are sacred.
And they shall know that I am the LORD their God, that brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, that I may dwell among them: I am the LORD their God.
And they will know that I am the LORD their God, who brought them out of the land of Egypt so that I might dwell among them. I am the LORD their God.
And thou shalt take the
atonement money of the children of Israel, and shalt
appoint it for the service of the tabernacle of the congregation; that it
may be a
memorial unto the children of Israel before the LORD, to make an
atonement for your souls.
Take the
atonement money from the Israelites and use it for the service of the Tent of Meeting. It will serve as a
memorial for the Israelites before the LORD to make
atonement for your lives.”
And thou shalt
sanctify them, that they
may be most holy:
whatsoever toucheth them shall be holy.
You are to
consecrate them so that they will be most holy. Whatever touches them shall be holy.
And thou shalt
anoint Aaron and his sons, and
consecrate them, that they
may minister unto me in the priest’s office.
And in cutting of stones, to set them, and in
carving of timber, to work in all manner of
workmanship.
to cut gemstones for settings, and to
carve wood, so that he
may be a master of every craft.
And I, behold, I have given with him Aholiab, the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of
Dan: and in the hearts of all that are wise hearted I have put wisdom, that they
may make all that I have commanded thee;
Moreover, I have selected Oholiab son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of
Dan, as his assistant. I have also given skill to all the
craftsmen, that they
may fashion all that I have commanded you:
Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying,
Verily my sabbaths ye shall keep: for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that ye
may know that I am the LORD that
doth sanctify you.
“Tell the Israelites, ‘Surely you must keep My Sabbaths, for this will be a sign between Me and you for the generations to come, so that you may know that I am the LORD who sanctifies you.
Six days
may work be done; but in the seventh is the sabbath of rest, holy to the LORD:
whosoever doeth any work in the sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death.
For six days work
may be done, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of complete rest, holy to the LORD.
Whoever does any work on the Sabbath day must surely be put to death.
Now therefore let me alone, that my wrath
may wax hot against them, and that I
may consume them: and I will make of thee a great nation.
Now leave Me alone, so that My anger
may burn against them and
consume them. Then I will make you into a great nation.”
For Moses had said,
Consecrate yourselves to day to the LORD, even every man upon his son, and upon his brother; that he
may bestow upon you a blessing this day.
Afterward, Moses said, “
Today you have been ordained for service to the LORD, since each man went against his son and his brother; so the LORD has bestowed a blessing on you this day.”
For the LORD had said unto Moses, Say unto the children of Israel, Ye are a stiffnecked people: I will come up into the midst of thee in a moment, and
consume thee: therefore now put off thy ornaments from thee, that I
may know what to do unto thee.
For the LORD had said to Moses, “Tell the Israelites, ‘You are a stiff-necked people. If I should go with you for a single moment, I would destroy you. Now take off your
jewelry, and I will decide what to do with you.’”
Now therefore, I pray thee, if I have found grace in thy sight,
shew me now thy way, that I
may know thee, that I
may find grace in thy sight: and consider that this nation is thy people.
Now if indeed I have found favor in Your sight, please let me know Your ways, that I may know You and find favor in Your sight. Remember that this nation is Your people.”
And no man shall come up with thee, neither let any man be seen throughout all the mount; neither let the flocks nor herds feed before that mount.
No one
may go up with you; in fact, no one
may be seen
anywhere on the mountain—not even the flocks or herds
may graze in front of the mountain.”
Six days shall work be done, but on the seventh day there shall be to you an holy day, a sabbath of rest to the LORD:
whosoever doeth work therein shall be put to death.
For six days work
may be done, but the seventh day shall be your holy day, a Sabbath of complete rest to the LORD.
Whoever does any work on that day must be put to death.
And in the cutting of stones, to set them, and in
carving of wood, to make any manner of
cunning work.
to cut gemstones for settings, and to
carve wood, so that he
