No meat offering, which ye shall bring unto the LORD, shall be made with
leaven: for ye shall burn no
leaven, nor any honey, in any offering of the LORD made by fire.
No grain offering that you present to the LORD
may be made with
leaven, for you are not to burn any
leaven or honey as an offering made by fire to the LORD.
As for the
oblation of the firstfruits, ye shall offer them unto the LORD: but they shall not be burnt on the altar for a sweet savour.
You
may bring them to the LORD as an offering of firstfruits, but they are not to be offered on the altar as a pleasing
aroma.
Or if a soul
swear,
pronouncing with his lips to do evil, or to do good,
whatsoever it be that a man shall
pronounce with an oath, and it be
hid from him; when he knoweth of it, then he shall be guilty in one of these.
Or if someone swears
thoughtlessly with his lips to do anything good or evil—in whatever matter a man
may rashly pronounce an oath—even if he is unaware of it, when he realizes it, he is guilty in the matter.
And if he be not able to bring a lamb, then he shall bring for his
trespass, which he hath committed, two turtledoves, or two young pigeons, unto the LORD; one for a sin offering, and the other for a burnt offering.
If, however, he cannot afford a lamb, he
may bring to the LORD as
restitution for his sin two turtledoves or two young pigeons—one as a sin offering and the other as a burnt offering.
But if he be not able to bring two turtledoves, or two young pigeons, then he that
sinned shall bring for his offering the tenth part of an
ephah of fine flour for a sin offering; he shall put no oil upon it, neither shall he put any
frankincense thereon: for it is a sin offering.
But if he cannot afford two turtledoves or two young pigeons, he
may bring a tenth of an
ephah of fine flour as a sin offering. He must not put olive oil or
frankincense on it, because it is a sin offering.
And the priest shall make an
atonement for him before the LORD: and it shall be
forgiven him for any thing of all that he hath done in
trespassing therein.
In this way the priest will make
atonement for him before the LORD, and he will be
forgiven for anything he
may have done to
incur guilt.”
All the males among the children of Aaron shall eat of it. It shall be a statute for ever in your generations concerning the offerings of the LORD made by fire: every one that toucheth them shall be holy.
Any male among the sons of Aaron may eat it. This is a permanent portion from the offerings made by fire to the LORD for the generations to come. Anything that touches them will become holy.”
All the males among the priests shall eat thereof: it is most holy.
Any male among the priests may eat it; it is most holy.
And no sin offering,
whereof any of the blood is brought into the tabernacle of the congregation to
reconcile withal in the holy place, shall be eaten: it shall be burnt in the fire.
But no sin offering
may be eaten if its blood has been brought into the Tent of Meeting to make
atonement in the Holy Place; it must be burned.
Every male among the priests shall eat thereof: it shall be eaten in the holy place: it is most holy.
Every male among the priests may eat of it. It must be eaten in a holy place; it is most holy.
And this is the law of the sacrifice of peace offerings, which he shall offer unto the LORD.
Now this is the law of the peace offering that one may present to the LORD:
And the flesh of the sacrifice of his peace offerings for
thanksgiving shall be eaten the same day that it is offered; he shall not leave any of it until the morning.
The meat of the sacrifice of his peace offering of
thanksgiving must be eaten on the day he offers it; none of it
may be left until morning.
But if the sacrifice of his offering be a
vow, or a voluntary offering, it shall be eaten the same day that he offereth his sacrifice: and on the
morrow also the remainder of it shall be eaten:
If, however, the sacrifice he offers is a
vow or a
freewill offering, it shall be eaten on the day he presents his sacrifice, but the remainder
may be eaten on the next day.
And the flesh that toucheth any unclean thing shall not be eaten; it shall be burnt with fire: and as for the flesh, all that be clean shall eat thereof.
Meat that touches anything unclean must not be eaten; it is to be burned up. As for any other meat,
anyone who is
ceremonially clean
may eat it.
And the fat of the beast that dieth of itself, and the fat of that which is
torn with beasts,
may be used in any other use: but ye shall in no wise eat of it.
The fat of an animal found dead or
mauled by wild beasts
may be used for any other purpose, but you must not eat it.
For
whosoever eateth the fat of the beast, of which men offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD, even the soul that eateth it shall be cut off from his people.
If
anyone eats the fat of an animal from which an offering made by fire
may be presented to the LORD, the one who eats it must be cut off from his people.
His own hands shall bring the offerings of the LORD made by fire, the fat with the breast, it shall he bring, that the breast may be waved for a wave offering before the LORD.
With his own hands he is to bring the offerings made by fire to the LORD; he shall bring the fat, together with the breast, and wave the breast as a wave offering before the LORD.
And Moses said, This is the thing which the LORD commanded that ye should do: and the glory of the LORD shall appear unto you.
And Moses said, “This is what the LORD has commanded you to do, so that the glory of the LORD may appear to you.”
And Moses said unto Aaron, and unto
Eleazar and unto
Ithamar, his sons, Uncover not your heads, neither
rend your clothes; lest ye die, and lest wrath come upon all the people: but let your brethren, the whole house of Israel,
bewail the burning which the LORD hath
kindled.
Then Moses said to Aaron and his sons
Eleazar and
Ithamar, “Do not let your hair become
disheveled and do not
tear your garments, or else you will die, and the LORD will be
angry with the whole congregation. But your brothers, the whole house of Israel,
may mourn on account of the fire that the LORD has
ignited.
And that ye may put difference between holy and unholy, and between unclean and clean;
You must distinguish between the holy and the common, between the clean and the unclean,
And that ye may teach the children of Israel all the statutes which the LORD hath spoken unto them by the hand of Moses.
so that you may teach the Israelites all the statutes that the LORD has given them through Moses.”
And the wave breast and
heave shoulder shall ye eat in a clean place; thou, and thy sons, and thy daughters with thee: for they be thy due, and thy sons’ due, which are given out of the sacrifices of peace offerings of the children of Israel.
And you and your sons and daughters
may eat the breast of the wave offering and the
thigh of the contribution in a
ceremonially clean place, because these portions have been assigned to you and your children from the peace offerings of the sons of Israel.
Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, These are the beasts which ye shall eat among all the beasts that are on the earth.
“Say to the Israelites, ‘Of all the beasts of the earth, these ones you may eat:
Whatsoever parteth the
hoof, and is clovenfooted, and cheweth the
cud, among the beasts, that shall ye eat.
You
may eat any animal that has a split
hoof completely divided and that chews the
cud.
These shall ye eat of all that are in the waters:
whatsoever hath fins and scales in the waters, in the seas, and in the rivers, them shall ye eat.
Of all the creatures that live in the water, whether in the seas or in the streams, you may eat anything with fins and scales.
Yet these
may ye eat of every flying
creeping thing that goeth upon all four, which have legs above their feet, to
leap withal upon the earth;
However, you
may eat the following kinds of flying insects that walk on all fours: those having jointed legs above their feet for
hopping on the ground.
Of all meat which
may be eaten, that on which such water cometh shall be unclean: and all drink that
may be
drunk in every such vessel shall be unclean.
Any food coming into contact with water from that pot will be unclean, and any drink in such a container will be unclean.
And if any beast, of which ye
may eat, die; he that toucheth the
carcase thereof shall be unclean until the even.
If an animal that you
may eat dies,
anyone who touches the
carcass will be unclean until evening.
To make a difference between the unclean and the clean, and between the beast that may be eaten and the beast that may not be eaten.
You must distinguish between the unclean and the clean, between animals that may be eaten and those that may not.’”
And he that is to be
cleansed shall wash his clothes, and
shave off all his hair, and wash himself in water, that he
may be clean: and after that he shall come into the camp, and shall
tarry abroad out of his tent seven days.
The one being
cleansed must wash his clothes,
shave off all his hair, and
bathe with water; then he will be
ceremonially clean. Afterward, he
may enter the camp, but he must remain outside his tent for seven days.
And he shall put the incense upon the fire before the LORD, that the cloud of the incense may cover the mercy seat that is upon the testimony, that he die not:
He is to put the incense on the fire before the LORD, and the cloud of incense will cover the mercy seat above the Testimony, so that he will not die.
And there shall be no man in the tabernacle of the congregation when he goeth in to make an
atonement in the holy place, until he come out, and have made an
atonement for himself, and for his household, and for all the congregation of Israel.
No one
may be in the Tent of Meeting from the time Aaron goes in to make
atonement in the Most Holy Place until he leaves, after he has made
atonement for himself, his household, and the whole assembly of Israel.
And he that let go the goat for the
scapegoat shall wash his clothes, and
bathe his flesh in water, and afterward come into the camp.
The man who released the goat as the
scapegoat must wash his clothes and
bathe himself with water; afterward he
may reenter the camp.
And he that burneth them shall wash his clothes, and
bathe his flesh in water, and afterward he shall come into the camp.
The one who burns them must wash his clothes and
bathe himself with water, and afterward he
may reenter the camp.
For on that day shall the priest make an
atonement for you, to
cleanse you, that ye
may be clean from all your sins before the LORD.
because on this day
atonement will be made for you to
cleanse you, and you will be clean from all your sins before the LORD.
It shall be a sabbath of rest unto you, and ye shall
afflict your souls, by a statute for ever.
It is a Sabbath of complete rest for you, that you
may humble
yourselves; it is a permanent statute.
To the end that the children of Israel may bring their sacrifices, which they offer in the open field, even that they may bring them unto the LORD, unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, unto the priest, and offer them for peace offerings unto the LORD.
For this reason the Israelites will bring to the LORD the sacrifices they have been offering in the open fields. They are to bring them to the priest at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting and offer them as sacrifices of peace to the LORD.
Therefore I said unto the children of Israel, No soul of you shall eat blood, neither shall any stranger that sojourneth among you eat blood.
Therefore I say to the Israelites, ‘None of you may eat blood, nor may any foreigner living among you eat blood.’
And
whatsoever man there be of the children of Israel, or of the strangers that
sojourn among you, which hunteth and catcheth any beast or fowl that
may be eaten; he shall even pour out the blood thereof, and cover it with dust.
And if any
Israelite or foreigner living among them hunts down a wild animal or bird that
may be eaten, he must
drain its blood and cover it with
dirt.
And in the fifth year shall ye eat of the fruit thereof, that it may yield unto you the increase thereof: I am the LORD your God.
But in the fifth year you may eat its fruit; thus your harvest will be increased. I am the LORD your God.
And for his sister a virgin, that is
nigh unto him, which hath had no husband; for her
may he be
defiled.
or his unmarried sister who is near to him, since she has no husband.
Speak unto Aaron, saying,
Whosoever he be of thy seed in their generations that hath any
blemish, let him not approach to offer the bread of his God.
“Say to Aaron, ‘For the generations to come, none of your descendants who has a physical defect may approach to offer the food of his God.
No man who has any defect
may approach—no man who is blind,
lame, disfigured, or
deformed;
He shall eat the bread of his God, both of the most holy, and of the holy.
He may eat the most holy food of his God as well as the holy food,
What man
soever of the seed of Aaron is a
leper, or hath a running issue; he shall not eat of the holy things, until he be clean. And
whoso toucheth any thing that is unclean by the dead, or a man whose seed goeth from him;
Or
whosoever toucheth any
creeping thing, whereby he
may be made unclean, or a man of whom he
may take uncleanness,
whatsoever uncleanness he hath;
or
whoever touches a
crawling creature or a person that makes him unclean, whatever the uncleanness
may be—
And when the sun is down, he shall be clean, and shall afterward eat of the holy things; because it is his food.
When the sun has set, he will become clean, and then he may eat from the sacred offerings, for they are his food.
There shall no stranger eat of the holy thing: a
sojourner of the priest, or an
hired servant, shall not eat of the holy thing.
No one outside a priest’s family
may eat the sacred offering, nor
may the
guest of a priest or his
hired hand eat it.
But if the priest
buy any soul with his money, he shall eat of it, and he that is born in his house: they shall eat of his meat.
But if a priest buys a slave with his own money, or if a slave is born in his household, that slave may eat his food.
If the priest’s daughter also be married unto a stranger, she may not eat of an offering of the holy things.
If the priest’s daughter is married to a man other than a priest, she is not to eat of the sacred contributions.
But if the priest’s daughter be a widow, or
divorced, and have no child, and is returned unto her father’s house, as in her youth, she shall eat of her father’s meat: but there shall no stranger eat thereof.
But if a priest’s daughter with no children becomes widowed or
divorced and returns to her father’s house, she
may share her father’s food as in her youth. But no outsider
may share it.
Either a
bullock or a lamb that hath any thing
superfluous or lacking in his parts, that
mayest thou offer for a
freewill offering; but for a
vow it shall not be accepted.
And when ye will offer a sacrifice of
thanksgiving unto the LORD, offer it at your own will.
When you sacrifice a
thank offering to the LORD, offer it so that it
may be acceptable on your behalf.
Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the sabbath of rest, an holy
convocation; ye shall do no work therein: it is the sabbath of the LORD in all your dwellings.
For six days work may be done, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of complete rest, a day of sacred assembly. You must not do any work; wherever you live, it is a Sabbath to the LORD.
And he shall wave the
sheaf before the LORD, to be accepted for you: on the
morrow after the sabbath the priest shall wave it.
And he shall wave the
sheaf before the LORD so that it
may be accepted on your behalf; the priest is to wave it on the day after the Sabbath.
And ye shall
proclaim on the
selfsame day, that it
may be an holy
convocation unto you: ye shall do no
servile work therein: it shall be a statute for ever in all your dwellings throughout your generations.
On that same day you are to
proclaim a sacred assembly, and you must not do any regular work. This is to be a permanent statute wherever you live for the generations to come.
That your generations may know that I made the children of Israel to dwell in booths, when I brought them out of the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.
so that your descendants may know that I made the Israelites dwell in booths when I brought them out of the land of Egypt. I am the LORD your God.’”
And thou shalt put pure
frankincense upon each row, that it
may be on the bread for a
memorial, even an offering made by fire unto the LORD.
And you are to place pure
frankincense near each row, so that it
may serve as a
memorial portion for the bread, an offering made by fire to the LORD.
Six years thou shalt
sow thy field, and six years thou shalt
prune thy
vineyard, and gather in the fruit thereof;
For six years you
may sow your field and
prune your
vineyard and gather its crops.
And for thy cattle, and for the beast that are in thy land, shall all the increase thereof be meat.
and for your
livestock and the wild animals in your land. All its growth
may serve as food.
For it is the jubile; it shall be holy unto you: ye shall eat the increase thereof out of the field.
For it is a
Jubilee; it shall be holy to you. You
may eat only the crops taken directly from the field.
Wherefore ye shall do my statutes, and keep my judgments, and do them; and ye shall dwell in the land in safety.
You are to keep My statutes and carefully observe My judgments, so that you may dwell securely in the land.
And if ye shall say, What shall we eat the seventh year? behold, we shall not
sow, nor gather in our increase:
Now you
may wonder, ‘What will we eat in the seventh year if we do not
sow or gather our produce?’
If thy brother be
waxen poor, and hath sold away some of his possession, and if any of his
kin come to
redeem it, then shall he
redeem that which his brother sold.
If your brother becomes
impoverished and sells some of his property, his nearest of
kin may come and
redeem what his brother has sold.
Then let him count the years of the sale thereof, and restore the
overplus unto the man to whom he sold it; that he
may return unto his possession.
he shall
calculate the years since its sale, repay the balance to the man to whom he sold it, and return to his property.
But if he be not able to restore it to him, then that which is sold shall remain in the hand of him that hath bought it until the year of jubile: and in the jubile it shall go out, and he shall return unto his possession.
But if he cannot obtain enough to repay him, what he sold will remain in possession of the
buyer until the Year of
Jubilee. In the
Jubilee, however, it is to be released, so that he
may return to his property.
And if a man sell a dwelling house in a walled city, then he
may redeem it within a whole year after it is sold; within a full year
may he
redeem it.
If a man sells a house in a walled city, he retains his right of
redemption until a full year after its sale; during that year it
may be redeemed.
But the houses of the villages which have no wall round about them shall be counted as the fields of the country: they may be redeemed, and they shall go out in the jubile.
But houses in villages with no walls around them are to be considered as open fields. They
may be redeemed, and they shall be released in the
Jubilee.
Notwithstanding the cities of the Levites, and the houses of the cities of their possession,
may the Levites
redeem at any time.
As for the cities of the Levites, the Levites always have the right to
redeem their houses in the cities they possess.
And if a man purchase of the Levites, then the house that was sold, and the city of his possession, shall go out in the year of jubile: for the houses of the cities of the Levites are their possession among the children of Israel.
So whatever belongs to the Levites
may be redeemed—a house sold in a city they possess—and must be released in the
Jubilee, because the houses in the cities of the Levites are their possession among the Israelites.
But the field of the suburbs of their cities may not be sold; for it is their perpetual possession.
But the open pastureland around their cities may not be sold, for this is their permanent possession.
And if thy brother be
waxen poor, and fallen in decay with thee; then thou shalt
relieve him:
yea, though he be a stranger, or a
sojourner; that he
may live with thee.
Now if your
countryman becomes destitute and cannot support himself among you, then you are to help him as you would a foreigner or stranger, so that he can continue to live among you.
Take thou no
usury of him, or increase: but fear thy God; that thy brother
may live with thee.
Do not take any interest or profit from him, but fear your God, that your
countryman may live among you.
And then shall he depart from thee, both he and his children with him, and shall return unto his own family, and unto the possession of his fathers shall he return.
Then he and his children are to be released, and he may return to his clan and to the property of his fathers.
Both thy
bondmen, and thy bondmaids, which thou shalt have, shall be of the heathen that are round about you; of them shall ye
buy bondmen and bondmaids.
Your menservants and maidservants shall come from the nations around you, from whom you may purchase them.
Moreover of the children of the strangers that do
sojourn among you, of them shall ye
buy, and of their families that are with you, which they
begat in your land: and they shall be your possession.
You may also purchase them from the foreigners residing among you or their clans living among you who are born in your land. These may become your property.
And ye shall take them as an inheritance for your children after you, to
inherit them for a possession; they shall be your
bondmen for ever: but over your brethren the children of Israel, ye shall not rule one over another with rigour.
You
may leave them to your sons after you to
inherit as property; you can make them slaves for life. But as for your brothers, the Israelites, no man
may rule harshly over his brother.
After that he is sold he
may be redeemed again; one of his brethren
may redeem him:
he retains the right of
redemption after he has sold himself. One of his brothers
may redeem him:
Either his uncle, or his uncle’s son,
may redeem him, or any that is
nigh of
kin unto him of his family
may redeem him; or if he be able, he
may redeem himself.
either his uncle or cousin or any close relative from his clan
may redeem him. Or if he prospers, he
may redeem himself.
And if it be a beast,
whereof men bring an offering unto the LORD, all that any man giveth of such unto the LORD shall be holy.
If he vows an animal that may be brought as an offering to the LORD, any such animal given to the LORD shall be holy.
And if it be any unclean beast, of which they do not offer a sacrifice unto the LORD, then he shall present the beast before the priest:
But if the
vow involves any of the unclean animals that
may not be brought as an offering to the LORD, the animal must be presented before the priest.
And if he will not
redeem the field, or if he have sold the field to another man, it shall not be redeemed any more.
If, however, he does not
redeem the field, or if he has sold it to another man, it
may no longer be redeemed.
Only the
firstling of the beasts, which should be the LORD’S
firstling, no man shall
sanctify it; whether it be ox, or sheep: it is the LORD’S.
And if it be of an unclean beast, then he shall
redeem it according to thine
estimation, and shall add a fifth part of it
thereto: or if it be not redeemed, then it shall be sold according to thy
estimation.
But if it is among the unclean animals, then he
may redeem it according to your
valuation and add a fifth of its value. If it is not redeemed, then it shall be sold according to your
valuation.
None devoted, which shall be devoted of men, shall be redeemed; but shall surely be put to death.
No person set apart for destruction
may be
ransomed; he must surely be put to death.
Bring the tribe of Levi near, and present them before Aaron the priest, that they may minister unto him.
“Bring the tribe of Levi and present them to Aaron the priest to assist him.
But thus do unto them, that they
may live, and not die, when they approach unto the most holy things: Aaron and his sons shall go in, and
appoint them every one to his service and to his burden:
In order that they
may live and not die when they come near the most holy things, do this for them: Aaron and his sons are to go in and
assign each man his task and what he is to carry.
And the priest shall charge her by an oath, and say unto the woman, If no man have
lain with thee, and if thou hast not gone aside to uncleanness with another instead of thy husband, be thou free from this bitter water that causeth the
curse:
And he is to put the woman under oath and say to her, ‘If no other man has
slept with you and you have not gone
astray and become
defiled while under your husband’s authority,
may you be
immune to this bitter water that brings a
curse.
Then the priest shall charge the woman with an oath of
cursing, and the priest shall say unto the woman, The LORD make thee a
curse and an oath among thy people, when the LORD
doth make thy
thigh to
rot, and thy
belly to swell;
May this water that brings a
curse enter your stomach and cause your
belly to swell and your
thigh to
shrivel.’ Then the woman is to say, ‘
Amen,
Amen.’
And the priest shall wave them for a wave offering before the LORD: this is holy for the priest, with the wave breast and
heave shoulder: and after that the
Nazarite may drink wine.
The priest shall then wave them as a wave offering before the LORD. This is a holy portion for the priest, in addition to the breast of the wave offering and the
thigh that was presented. After that, the
Nazirite may drink wine.
The LORD
bless thee, and keep thee:
‘
May the LORD
bless you and keep you;
The LORD make his face
shine upon thee, and be
gracious unto thee:
may the LORD cause His face to
shine upon you and be
gracious to you;
The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
may the LORD lift up His countenance toward you and give you peace.’
Take it of them, that they may be to do the service of the tabernacle of the congregation; and thou shalt give them unto the Levites, to every man according to his service.
“Accept these gifts from them, that they may be used in the work of the Tent of Meeting. And give them to the Levites, to each man according to his service.”
And Aaron shall offer the Levites before the LORD for an offering of the children of Israel, that they
may execute the service of the LORD.
Aaron is to present the Levites before the LORD as a wave offering from the sons of Israel, so that they may perform the service of the LORD.
And after that shall the Levites go in to do the service of the tabernacle of the congregation: and thou shalt
cleanse them, and offer them for an offering.
After you have
cleansed them and presented them as a wave offering, they
may come to serve at the Tent of Meeting.
But shall minister with their brethren in the tabernacle of the congregation, to keep the charge, and shall do no service. Thus shalt thou do unto the Levites touching their charge.
After that, they
may assist their brothers in
fulfilling their duties at the Tent of Meeting, but they themselves are not to do the work. This is how you are to
assign responsibilities to the Levites.”
And those men said unto him, We are
defiled by the dead body of a man: wherefore are we kept back, that we
may not offer an offering of the LORD in his appointed season among the children of Israel?
and said to Moses, “We are unclean because of a dead body, but why should we be excluded from presenting the LORD’s offering with the other Israelites at the appointed time?”
