alms; provide
yourselves bags which wax not old, a
treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no

moth corrupteth.

yourselves with purses that will not wear out, an
inexhaustible treasure in heaven, where no
thief approaches and no
moth destroys.

yes, even his own life—he cannot be My disciple.

But we were gentle among you, even as a
nurse cherisheth her children:
On the contrary, we were gentle among you, like a
nursing mother caring for her children.
Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and
disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and
profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of
mothers, for manslayers,
We
realize that law is not
enacted for the righteous, but for the lawless and
rebellious, for the ungodly and sinful, for the unholy and
profane, for killers of father or
mother, for murderers,

Your riches have
rotted and
moths have eaten your clothes.

And on her
forehead a
mysterious name was written: BABYLON THE GREAT, THE
MOTHER OF PROSTITUTES AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.

spend his life with his wife. and remembereth neither father, nor

Thus saith the
Almighty Lord, Have I not prayed you as a father his sons, as a
mother her daughters, and a
nurse her young babes,
The
mother that bare them saith unto them, Go your way, ye children; for I am a widow and
forsaken.
As for me, O father, I call upon thee for a witness over the mother of these children, which would not keep my covenant,
That thou bring them to confusion, and their
mother to a
spoil, that there may be no offspring of them.
Mother, embrace thy children, and bring them up with
gladness, make their feet as fast as a
pillar: for I have chosen thee, saith the Lord.
Fear not, thou mother of the children: for I have chosen thee, saith the Lord.
Be joyful, O thou mother, with thy children; for I will deliver thee, saith the Lord.
And he said unto me, Thou canst not. And I said, Wherefore, Lord?
whereunto was I born then? or why was not my
mother’s
womb then my grave, that I might not have seen the
travail of Jacob, and the
wearisome toil of the stock of Israel?
And I asked, and said, Seeing thou hast now given me the way, I will proceed to speak before thee: for our
mother, of whom thou hast told me that she is young, draweth now
nigh unto age.
For when the body is fashioned now in the
mother’s
womb, and thou givest it members, thy creature is preserved in fire and water, and nine months
doth thy
workmanship endure thy creature which is created in her.

moth is
hid from you, and corruption is fled into

And when he had called him, he said, My son, when I am dead,
bury me; and
despise not thy
mother, but honour her all the days of thy life, and do that which shall please her, and
grieve her not.
Now therefore, my son, love thy brethren, and
despise not in thy heart thy brethren, the sons and daughters of thy people, in not taking a wife of them: for in pride is destruction and much trouble, and in
lewdness is decay and great want: for
lewdness is the
mother of famine.
But
Anna his
mother wept, and said to
Tobit, Why hast thou sent away our son? is he not the staff of our hand, in going in and out before us?
And now I am the only son of my father, and I am afraid, lest if I go in unto her, I die, as the other before: for a wicked spirit loveth her, which hurteth no body, but those which come unto her; wherefore I also fear lest I die, and bring my father’s and my
mother’s life because of me to the grave with sorrow: for they have no other son to
bury them.
But she said, Hold thy peace, and
deceive me not; my son is dead. And she went out every day into the way which they went, and did eat no meat on the
daytime, and ceased not whole nights to
bewail her son Tobias, until the fourteen days of the
wedding were
expired, which Raguel had
sworn that he should
spend there. Then Tobias said to Raguel, Let me go, for my father and my
mother look no more to see me.
And he said to his daughter, Honour thy father and thy
mother in law, which are now thy parents, that I may hear good report of thee. And he
kissed her. Edna also said to Tobias, The Lord of heaven restore thee, my
dear brother, and grant that I may see thy children of my daughter Sara before I die, that I may
rejoice before the Lord: behold, I commit my daughter unto thee of special trust; where are do not
entreat her evil.
But Tobias gave
thanks before them, because God had mercy on him. And when he came near to Sara his daughter in law, he blessed her, saying, Thou art
welcome, daughter: God be blessed, which hath brought thee unto us, and blessed be thy father and thy
mother. And there was joy among all his brethren which were at Nineve.
And
bury me decently, and thy
mother with me; but
tarry no longer at Nineve. Remember, my son, how Aman handled Achiacharus that brought him up, how out of light he brought him into darkness, and how he rewarded him again: yet Achiacharus was saved, but the other had his reward: for he went down into darkness. Manasses gave
alms, and escaped the snares of death which they had set for him: but Aman fell into the
snare, and perished.
And when
Anna his
mother was dead, he buried her with his father. But Tobias departed with his wife and children to Ecbatane to Raguel his father in law,

Tobit’s.

mother’s
womb was fashioned to be flesh in the time of ten months, being compacted in blood, of the seed of man, and the pleasure that came with sleep.
And I
rejoiced in them all, because wisdom goeth before them: and I knew not that she was the
mother of them.
For the Lord hath given the father honour over the children, and hath confirmed the authority of the mother over the sons.
And he that honoureth his
mother is as one that layeth up
treasure.
He that honoureth his father shall have a long life; and he that is
obedient unto the Lord shall be a comfort to his
mother.
Honour thy father and mother both in word and deed, that a blessing may come upon thee from them.
For the blessing of the father establisheth the houses of children; but the
curse of the
mother rooteth out foundations.
For the glory of a man is from the honour of his father; and a mother in dishonour is a reproach to the children.
He that forsaketh his father is as a
blasphemer; and he that angereth his
mother is
cursed: of God.
Be as a father unto the fatherless, and instead of an husband unto their
mother: so shalt thou be as the son of the most High, and he shall love thee more than thy
mother doth.
Honour thy father with thy whole heart, and
forget not the sorrows of thy
mother.
And as a mother shall she meet him, and receive him as a wife married of a virgin.
Moths and worms shall have him to
heritage, and a bold man shall be taken away.
Remember thy father and thy
mother, when thou sittest among great men. Be not
forgetful before them, and so thou by thy custom become a
fool, and wish that thou hadst not been born, and
curse they day of thy
nativity.
I am the mother of fair love, and fear, and knowledge, and holy hope: I therefore, being eternal, am given to all my children which are named of him.
Great
travail is created for every man, and an heavy yoke is upon the sons of Adam, from the day that they go out of their
mother’s
womb, till the day that they return to the

Be
ashamed of
whoredom before father and
mother: and of a lie before a prince and a mighty man;
For from garments cometh a moth, and from women wickedness.
For they
entreated him evil, who nevertheless was a prophet,
sanctified in his
mother’s
womb, that he might root out, and
afflict, and destroy; and that he might build up also, and plant.
Yet cannot these gods save themselves from
rust and
moth, though they be covered with purple
raiment.

Moreover he set up seven pyramids, one against another, for his father, and his mother, and his four brethren.
It came to pass also, that seven brethren with their
mother were taken, and compelled by the king against the law to taste
swine’s flesh, and were
tormented with scourges and whips.
Which
forthwith being heated, he commanded to cut out the tongue of him that spake first, and to cut off the utmost parts of his body, the rest of his brethren and his
mother looking on.
Now when he was thus
maimed in all his members, he commanded him being yet alive to be brought to the fire, and to be
fried in the pan: and as the vapour of the pan was for a good space
dispersed, they
exhorted one another with the
mother to die
manfully, saying thus,
But the mother was marvellous above all, and worthy of honourable memory: for when she saw her seven sons slain within the space of one day, she bare it with a good courage, because of the hope that she had in the Lord.
But when the young man would in no case
hearken unto him, the king called his
mother, and
exhorted her that she would counsel the young man to save his life.
Last of all after the sons the mother died.
