And I
myself will fight against you with an outstretched hand and with a strong arm, even in anger, and in
fury, and in great wrath.
And I
Myself will fight against you with an outstretched hand and a mighty arm, with anger,
fury, and great wrath.
But if ye will not hear these words, I
swear by
myself, saith the LORD, that this house shall become a
desolation.
But if you do not obey these words, then I
swear by
Myself, declares the LORD, that this house will become a pile of
rubble.’”
That saith, I will build me a wide house and large chambers, and cutteth him out windows; and it is cieled with
cedar, and painted with
vermilion.
who says, ‘I will build
myself a great palace, with
spacious upper rooms.’ So he cuts windows in it, panels it with
cedar, and paints it with
vermilion.
And I will gather the
remnant of my flock out of all countries
whither I have driven them, and will bring them again to their folds; and they shall be fruitful and increase.
Then I
Myself will gather the
remnant of My flock from all the lands to which I have banished them, and I will return them to their pasture, where they will be fruitful and multiply.
But thou shalt die in peace: and with the burnings of thy fathers, the former kings which were before thee, so shall they burn odours for thee; and they will
lament thee, saying,
Ah lord! for I have pronounced the word, saith the LORD.
you will die in peace. As spices were burned for your fathers, the former kings who preceded you, so people will burn spices for you and
lament, ‘
Alas, O master!’ For I
Myself have spoken this word, declares the LORD.”
For I have
sworn by
myself, saith the LORD, that
Bozrah shall become a
desolation, a reproach, a waste, and a
curse; and all the cities thereof shall be perpetual wastes.
Then said I,
Ah Lord GOD! behold, my soul hath not been
polluted: for from my youth up even till now have I not eaten of that which dieth of itself, or is
torn in pieces; neither came there
abominable flesh into my mouth.
“
Ah, Lord GOD,” I said, “I have never
defiled myself. From my youth until now I have not eaten anything found dead or
mauled by wild beasts. No unclean meat has ever entered my mouth.”
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I, even I, am against thee, and will
execute judgments in the midst of thee in the sight of the nations.
Therefore this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘Behold, I
Myself am against you, Jerusalem, and I will
execute judgments among you in the sight of the nations.
Wherefore, as I live, saith the Lord GOD; Surely, because thou hast
defiled my sanctuary with all thy
detestable things, and with all thine abominations, therefore will I also diminish thee; neither shall mine eye
spare, neither will I have any
pity.
Therefore as surely as I live, declares the Lord GOD, because you have
defiled My sanctuary with all your
detestable idols and abominations, I
Myself will withdraw My favor; I will not look upon you with
pity, nor will I
spare you.
For every one of the house of Israel, or of the stranger that sojourneth in Israel, which separateth himself from me, and setteth up his idols in his heart, and putteth the stumblingblock of his iniquity before his face, and cometh to a prophet to
enquire of him concerning me; I the LORD will answer him by
myself:
For when any
Israelite or any foreigner dwelling in Israel separates himself from Me, sets up idols in his heart, and puts a wicked
stumbling block before his face, and then comes to the prophet to inquire of Me, I the LORD will answer him
Myself.
Now when I passed by thee, and looked upon thee, behold, thy time was the time of love; and I spread my
skirt over thee, and covered thy nakedness:
yea, I
sware unto thee, and entered into a covenant with thee, saith the Lord GOD, and thou becamest mine.
Then I passed by and saw you, and you were indeed old enough for love. So I spread My
cloak over you and covered your nakedness. I
pledged Myself to you, entered into a covenant with you, and you became Mine, declares the Lord GOD.
And say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; In the day when I chose Israel, and lifted up mine hand unto the seed of the house of Jacob, and made myself known unto them in the land of Egypt, when I lifted up mine hand unto them, saying, I am the LORD your God;
and tell them that this is what the Lord GOD says: On the day I chose Israel, I
swore an oath to the descendants of the house of Jacob and made
Myself known to them in the land of Egypt. With an
uplifted hand I said to them, ‘I am the LORD your God.’
But I wrought for my name’s sake, that it should not be
polluted before the heathen, among whom they were, in whose sight I made
myself known unto them, in bringing them forth out of the land of Egypt.
But I acted for the sake of My name, that it should not be
profaned in the eyes of the nations among whom they were living, in whose sight I had revealed
Myself to Israel by bringing them out of the land of Egypt.
Thus saith the Lord GOD; When I shall have gathered the house of Israel from the people among whom they are scattered, and shall be
sanctified in them in the sight of the heathen, then shall they dwell in their land that I have given to my servant Jacob.
This is what the Lord GOD says: ‘When I gather the house of Israel from the peoples among whom they have been scattered, I will show Myself holy among them in the sight of the nations. Then they will dwell in their own land, which I have given to My servant Jacob.
Speak, and say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, Pharaoh king of Egypt, the great
dragon that lieth in the midst of his rivers, which hath said, My river is mine own, and I have made it for
myself.
Speak to him and tell him that this is what the Lord GOD says: Behold, I am against you, O Pharaoh king of Egypt, O great
monster who lies among his rivers, who says, ‘The Nile is mine; I made it
myself.’
For thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I, even I, will both search my sheep, and seek them out.
For this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘Behold, I Myself will search for My flock and seek them out.
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD unto them; Behold, I, even I, will judge between the fat cattle and between the
lean cattle.
Therefore this is what the Lord GOD says to them: ‘Behold, I
Myself will judge between the fat sheep and the
lean sheep.
Therefore, as I live, saith the Lord GOD, I will even do according to thine anger, and according to thine
envy which thou hast used out of thy hatred against them; and I will make
myself known among them, when I have judged thee.
therefore as surely as I live, declares the Lord GOD, I will treat you according to the anger and jealousy you showed in your hatred against them, and I will make Myself known among them when I judge you.
Thus with your mouth ye have
boasted against me, and have multiplied your words against me: I have heard them.
You
boasted against Me with your mouth and multiplied your words against Me. I heard it
Myself!
And thou shalt come up against my people of Israel, as a cloud to cover the land; it shall be in the latter days, and I will bring thee against my land, that the heathen may know me, when I shall be
sanctified in thee, O
Gog, before their eyes.
You will advance against My people Israel like a cloud covering the land. It will happen in the latter days, O
Gog, that I will bring you against My land, so that the nations may know Me when I show
Myself holy in you before their eyes.
Thus will I
magnify myself, and
sanctify myself; and I will be known in the eyes of many nations, and they shall know that I am the LORD.
I will
magnify and
sanctify Myself, and will
reveal Myself in the sight of many nations. Then they will know that I am the LORD.
The king spake, and said, Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power, and for the honour of my majesty?
the king
exclaimed, “Is this not Babylon the Great, which I
myself have built by the might of my power as a royal residence and for the glory of my majesty?”
Hitherto is the end of the matter. As for me Daniel, my cogitations much troubled me, and my countenance changed in me: but I kept the matter in my heart.
Thus ends the matter. As for me, Daniel, my thoughts troubled me greatly, and my face turned pale. But I kept the matter to myself.”
And I saw in a vision; and it came to pass, when I saw, that I was at
Shushan in the palace, which is in the province of
Elam; and I saw in a vision, and I was by the river of Ulai.
And in the vision I saw
myself in the citadel of
Susa, in the province of
Elam. I saw in the vision that I was beside the Ulai Canal.
I
ate no pleasant bread, neither came flesh nor wine in my mouth, neither did I
anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled.
I
ate no rich food, no meat or wine entered my mouth, and I did not
anoint myself with oil until the three weeks were completed.
And Ephraim said, Yet I am become rich, I have found me out substance: in all my labours they shall find none iniquity in me that were sin.
And Ephraim boasts: “How rich I have become! I have found wealth for myself. In all my labors, they can find in me no iniquity that is sinful.”
Wherewith shall I come before the LORD, and bow
myself before the high God? shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with
calves of a year old?
With what shall I come before the LORD when I bow before the God on high? Should I come to Him with burnt offerings, with year-old
calves?
I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what he will say unto me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved.
I will stand at my guard post and station myself on the ramparts. I will watch to see what He will say to me, and how I should answer when corrected.
When I heard, my
belly trembled; my lips
quivered at the voice:
rottenness entered into my bones, and I
trembled in
myself, that I might rest in the day of trouble: when he cometh up unto the people, he will
invade them with his troops.
I heard and
trembled within; my lips
quivered at the sound. Decay entered my bones; I
trembled where I stood. Yet I must wait patiently for the day of distress to come upon the people who
invade us.
And to speak unto the priests which were in the house of the LORD of hosts, and to the prophets, saying, Should I
weep in the fifth month, separating
myself, as I have done these so many years?
by asking the priests of the house of the LORD of Hosts, as well as the prophets, “Should I
weep and fast in the fifth month, as I have done these many years?”
And the inhabitants of one city shall go to another, saying, Let us go speedily to pray before the LORD, and to seek the LORD of hosts: I will go also.
and the residents of one city will go to another, saying: ‘Let us go at once to
plead before the LORD and to seek the LORD of Hosts. I
myself am going.’
And I will feed the flock of slaughter, even you, O poor of the flock. And I took unto me two
staves; the one I called Beauty, and the other I called Bands; and I fed the flock.
So I pastured the flock marked for slaughter, especially the
afflicted of the flock. Then I took for
myself two staffs, calling one Favor and the other Union, and I pastured the flock.
For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.
For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell one to go, and he goes; and another to come, and he comes. I tell my servant to do something, and he does it.”
Wherefore neither thought I
myself worthy to come unto thee: but say in a word, and my servant shall be
healed.
That is why I did not consider
myself worthy to come to You. But just say the word, and my servant will be
healed.
For I also am a man set under authority, having under me soldiers, and I say unto one, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.
For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell one to go, and he goes; and another to come, and he comes. I tell my servant to do something, and he does it.”
And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be
merry.
Then I will say to
myself, “You have
plenty of good things laid up for many years. Take it easy. Eat, drink, and be
merry!”’
Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have.
Look at My hands and My feet. It is I Myself. Touch Me and see—for a spirit does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have.”
And I knew him not: but that he should be made manifest to Israel, therefore am I come
baptizing with water.
I
myself did not know Him, but the reason I came
baptizing with water was that He might be revealed to Israel.”
And I knew him not: but he that sent me to
baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.
I
myself did not know Him, but the One who sent me to
baptize with water told me, ‘The man on whom you see the Spirit descend and rest is He who will
baptize with the Holy Spirit.’
I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.
I can do nothing by Myself; I judge only as I hear. And My judgment is just, because I do not seek My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me.
If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true.
If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.
If
anyone desires to do His will, he will know whether My teaching is from God or whether I speak on My own.
Then
cried Jesus in the temple as he taught, saying, Ye both know me, and ye know whence I am: and I am not come of
myself, but he that sent me is true, whom ye know not.
Then Jesus, still teaching in the temple courts,
cried out, “You know Me, and you know where I am from. I have not come of My own
accord, but He who sent Me is true. You do not know Him,
Jesus answered and said unto them, Though I bear record of
myself, yet my record is true: for I know whence I came, and
whither I go; but ye cannot tell whence I come, and
whither I go.
Jesus replied, “Even if I
testify about
Myself, My testimony is
valid, because I know where I came from and where I am going. But you do not know where I came from or where I am going.
I am one that bear witness of myself, and the Father that sent me beareth witness of me.
I am One who testifies about Myself, and the Father, who sent Me, also testifies about Me.”
Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things.
So Jesus said, “When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am He, and that I do nothing on My own, but speak exactly what the Father has taught Me.
Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me.
Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love Me, for I have come here from God. I have not come on My own, but He sent Me.
Jesus answered, If I honour myself, my honour is nothing: it is my Father that honoureth me; of whom ye say, that he is your God:
Jesus answered, “If I
glorify Myself, My glory means nothing. The One who glorifies Me is My Father, of whom you say ‘He is our God.’
No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.
No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of My own
accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This charge I have received from My Father.”
And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.
And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw
everyone to
Myself.”
For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.
I have not spoken on My own, but the Father who sent Me has commanded Me what to say and how to say it.
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and
welcome you into My presence, so that you also may be where I am.
Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.
Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me? The words I say to you, I do not speak on My own. Instead, it is the Father dwelling in Me, performing His works.
He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.
Whoever has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me. The one who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and
reveal Myself to him.”
And for their sakes I
sanctify myself, that they also might be
sanctified through the truth.
But Peter took him up, saying, Stand up; I myself also am a man.
But Peter helped him up. “Stand up,” he said, “I am only a man myself.”
But none of these things move me, neither count I my life
dear unto
myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to
testify the gospel of the grace of God.
But I consider my life of no value to me, if only I may finish my course and complete the ministry I have received from the Lord Jesus—the ministry of
testifying to the good news of God’s grace.
And Paul, earnestly beholding the council, said, Men and brethren, I have lived in all good conscience before God until this day.
Paul looked directly at the
Sanhedrin and said, “Brothers, I have conducted
myself before God in all good conscience to this day.”
Then Paul, after that the governor had
beckoned unto him to speak, answered,
Forasmuch as I know that thou hast been of many years a judge unto this nation, I do the more
cheerfully answer for
myself:
When the governor motioned for Paul to speak, he began his
response: “Knowing that you have been a judge over this nation for many years, I
gladly make my
defense.
And
herein do I exercise
myself, to have always a conscience void of offence toward God, and toward men.
In this hope, I
strive always to maintain a clear conscience before God and man.
But
Festus answered, that Paul should be kept at Caesarea, and that he himself would depart shortly thither.
But
Festus replied, “Paul is being held in Caesarea, and I
myself am going there soon.
Then
Agrippa said unto
Festus, I would also hear the man
myself. To
morrow, said he, thou shalt hear him.
I think
myself happy, king
Agrippa, because I shall answer for
myself this day before thee touching all the things
whereof I am accused of the Jews:
“King
Agrippa, I consider
myself fortunate to stand before you
today to defend
myself against all the accusations of the Jews,
I
verily thought with
myself, that I ought to do many things contrary to the name of Jesus of
Nazareth.
I
thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I
myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.
Thanks be to God, through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, with my mind I serve the law of God, but with my flesh I serve the law of sin.
For I could wish that
myself were
accursed from Christ for my brethren, my
kinsmen according to the flesh:
For I could wish that I
myself were
cursed and cut off from Christ for the sake of my brothers, my own flesh and blood,
But Esaias is very bold, and saith, I was found of them that sought me not; I was made manifest unto them that asked not after me.
And Isaiah boldly says: “I was found by those who did not seek Me; I revealed Myself to those who did not ask for Me.”
I say then, Hath God cast away his people? God
forbid. For I also am an
Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin.
I ask then, did God
reject His people? Certainly not! I am an
Israelite myself, a
descendant of Abraham, from the tribe of Benjamin.
But what saith the answer of God unto him? I have reserved to
myself seven thousand men, who have not bowed the
knee to the image of
Baal.
And what was the divine reply to him? “I have reserved for
Myself seven thousand men who have not bowed the
knee to
Baal.”
And I
myself also am persuaded of you, my brethren, that ye also are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, able also to
admonish one another.
That ye receive her in the Lord, as becometh saints, and that ye assist her in
whatsoever business she hath need of you: for she hath been a succourer of many, and of
myself also.
Welcome her in the Lord in a manner worthy of the saints, and assist her with anything she may need from you. For she has been a great help to many people, including me.
But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged of you, or of man’s judgment:
yea, I judge not mine own self.
I care very little, however, if I am judged by you or by any human court. In fact, I do not even judge myself.
For I know nothing by
myself; yet am I not
hereby justified: but he that judgeth me is the Lord.
My conscience is clear, but that does not
vindicate me. It is the Lord who judges me.
And these things, brethren, I have in a figure transferred to
myself and to Apollos for your sakes; that ye might learn in us not to think of men above that which is written, that no one of you be
puffed up for one against another.
Brothers, I have applied these things to myself and Apollos for your benefit, so that you may learn from us not to go beyond what is written. Then you will not take pride in one man over another.
For I would that all men were even as I myself. But every man hath his proper gift of God, one after this manner, and another after that.
I wish that all men were as I am. But each man has his own gift from God; one has this gift, another has that.
For though I be free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more.
Though I am free of obligation to
anyone, I make
myself a slave to
everyone, to
win as many as possible.
And unto the Jews I became as a
Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law;
To the Jews I became like a
Jew, to
win the Jews. To those under the law I became like one under the law (though I
myself am not under the law), to
win those under the law.
But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I
myself should be a
castaway.
No, I discipline my body and make it my slave, so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified.
But I determined this with
myself, that I would not come again to you in
heaviness.
So I made up my mind not to make another painful visit to you.
Now I Paul
myself beseech you by the
meekness and gentleness of Christ, who in presence am base among you, but being absent am bold toward you:
Now by the mildness and gentleness of Christ, I appeal to you—I, Paul, who am humble when face to face with you, but bold when away.
For I suppose I was not a
whit behind the very chiefest apostles.
I consider
myself in no way inferior to those “
super-apostles.”
Have I committed an offence in
abasing myself that ye might be
exalted, because I have preached to you the gospel of God freely?
Was it a sin for me to humble
myself in order to
exalt you, because I preached the gospel of God to you free of charge?
And when I was present with you, and wanted, I was chargeable to no man: for that which was lacking to me the brethren which came from
Macedonia supplied: and in all things I have kept
myself from being
burdensome unto you, and so will I keep
myself.
And when I was with you and in need, I was not a burden to
anyone; for the brothers who came from
Macedonia supplied my needs. I have
refrained from being a burden to you in any way, and I will continue to do so.
I say again, Let no man think me a
fool; if otherwise, yet as a
fool receive me, that I may
boast myself a little.
I
repeat: Let no one take me for a
fool. But if you do, then receive me as a
fool, so that I too may
boast a little.
Of such an one will I glory: yet of
myself I will not glory, but in mine
infirmities.
I will
boast about such a man, but I will not
boast about
myself, except in my weaknesses.
For what is it wherein ye were inferior to other churches, except it be that I
myself was not
burdensome to you?
forgive me this wrong.
In what way were you inferior to the other churches, except that I was not a burden to you?
Forgive me this wrong!
And I will very
gladly spend and be spent for you; though the more abundantly I love you, the less I be loved.
And for the sake of your souls, I will most
gladly spend my money and
myself. If I love you more, will you love me less?
For if I build again the things which I destroyed, I make
myself a
transgressor.
If I rebuild what I have already
torn down, I prove
myself to be a
lawbreaker.
But I trust in the Lord that I also myself shall come shortly.
And I trust in the Lord that I myself will come soon.
Though I might also have confidence in the flesh. If any other man thinketh that he hath
whereof he might trust in the flesh, I more:
though I
myself could have such confidence. If
anyone else thinks he has grounds for confidence in the flesh, I have more:
Brethren, I count not
myself to have
apprehended: but this one thing I do,
forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
Brothers, I do not consider
myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do:
Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is
ahead,
If thou count me therefore a
partner, receive him as
myself.
So if you consider me a
partner, receive him as you would receive me.
Therefore will I begin to pray before thee for myself and for them: for I see the falls of us that dwell in the land.
And she said unto me, Sir, let me alone, that I may
bewail myself, and add unto my sorrow, for I am
sore vexed in my mind, and brought very low.
Then said he unto me, In the
bush I did manifestly
reveal myself unto Moses, and talked with him, when my people served in Egypt:
But I kept myself from eating;
And when one of the Ninevites went and
complained of me to the king, that I buried them, and
hid myself; understanding that I was sought for to be put to death, I withdrew
myself for fear.
Then I returned, and washed
myself, and
ate my meat in
heaviness,
And that I never
polluted my name, nor the name of my father, in the land of my captivity: I am the only daughter of my father, neither hath he any child to be his heir, neither any near
kinsman, nor any son of his alive, to whom I may keep
myself for a wife: my seven husbands are already dead; and why should I live? but if it please not thee that I should die, command some regard to be had of me, and
pity taken of me, that I hear no more reproach.
After that I became lord over many nations and had dominion over the whole world, not lifted up with
presumption of my authority, but carrying
myself always with
equity and mildness, I purposed to settle my subjects continually in a quiet life, and making my kingdom peaceable, and open for passage to the utmost coasts, to renew peace, which is desired of all men.
