And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them?
Then Moses asked God, “Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is His name?’ What should I tell them?”
And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my
name for ever, and this is my
memorial unto all generations.
God also told Moses, “Say to the Israelites, ‘The LORD, the God of your fathers—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob—has sent me to you.’ This is My
name forever, and this is how I am to be remembered in every generation.

And he called the
name of the place Massah, and Meribah, because of the
chiding of the children of Israel, and because they

Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
You shall not take the
name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not leave
anyone unpunished who takes His
name in vain.
An altar of earth thou shalt make unto me, and shalt sacrifice
thereon thy burnt offerings, and thy peace offerings, thy sheep, and thine oxen: in all places where I record my
name I will come unto thee, and I will
bless thee.
You are to make for Me an altar of earth, and sacrifice on it your burnt offerings and peace offerings, your sheep and goats and cattle. In every place where I cause My
name to be remembered, I will come to you and
bless you.
And in all things that I have said unto you be
circumspect: and make no mention of the
name of other gods, neither let it be heard out of thy mouth.
Pay close attention to everything I have said to you. You must not
invoke the
names of other gods; they must not be heard on your lips.
Beware of him, and obey his voice,
provoke him not; for he will not
pardon your transgressions: for my

listen to his voice; do not
defy him, for he will not
forgive rebellion, since My
Name is in him.
And thou shalt take two
onyx stones, and grave on them the
names of the children of Israel:
Take two
onyx stones and
engrave on them the
names of the sons of Israel:
Six of their names on one stone, and the other six names of the rest on the other stone, according to their birth.
six of their names on one stone and the remaining six on the other, in the order of their birth.
With the work of an
engraver in stone, like the engravings of a
signet, shalt thou
engrave the two stones with the
names of the children of Israel: thou shalt make them to be set in ouches of gold.
Engrave the
names of the sons of Israel on the two stones the way a
gem cutter engraves a seal. Then mount the stones in gold
filigree settings.
And thou shalt put the two stones upon the shoulders of the
ephod for stones of
memorial unto the children of Israel: and Aaron shall bear their
names before the LORD upon his two shoulders for a
memorial.
Fasten both stones on the shoulder pieces of the
ephod as
memorial stones for the sons of Israel. Aaron is to bear their
names on his two shoulders as a
memorial before the LORD.
And the stones shall be with the
names of the children of Israel, twelve, according to their
names, like the engravings of a
signet; every one with his
name shall they be according to the twelve tribes.
The twelve stones are to correspond to the names of the sons of Israel, each engraved like a seal with the name of one of the twelve tribes.
And Aaron shall bear the

name Bezaleel the son of

And Moses said unto the LORD, See, thou sayest unto me, Bring up this people: and thou hast not let me know whom thou
wilt send with me. Yet thou hast said, I know thee by
name, and thou hast also found grace in my sight.
Then Moses said to the LORD, “Look, You have been telling me, ‘Lead this people up,’ but You have not let me know whom You will send with me. Yet You have said, ‘I know you by name, and you have found favor in My sight.’
And the LORD said unto Moses, I will do this thing also that thou hast spoken: for thou hast found grace in my sight, and I know thee by name.
So the LORD said to Moses, “I will do this very thing you have asked, for you have found favor in My sight, and I know you by name.”
And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will
proclaim the
name of the LORD before thee; and will be
gracious to whom I will be
gracious, and will
shew mercy on whom I will
shew mercy.
“I will cause all My goodness to pass before you,” the LORD replied, “and I will
proclaim My
name—the LORD—in your presence. I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have
compassion on whom I have
compassion.”
And the LORD descended in the cloud, and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of the LORD.

Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah.
And they wrought
onyx stones inclosed in ouches of gold,
graven, as signets are
graven, with the
names of the children of Israel.
They mounted the
onyx stones in gold
filigree settings, engraved like a seal with the
names of the sons of Israel.
And the stones were according to the
names of the children of Israel, twelve, according to their
names, like the engravings of a
signet, every one with his
name, according to the twelve tribes.
The twelve stones corresponded to the names of the sons of Israel. Each stone was engraved like a seal with the name of one of the twelve tribes.
And if his offering be of the flocks,
namely, of the sheep, or of the goats, for a burnt sacrifice; he shall bring it a male without

If, however, one’s offering is a burnt offering from the flock—from the sheep or goats—he is to present an
unblemished male.
And thou shalt not let any of thy seed pass through the fire to
Molech, neither shalt thou
profane the
name of thy God: I am the LORD.
You must not give any of your children to be sacrificed to
Molech, for you must not
profane the
name of your God. I am the LORD.
And ye shall not
swear by my
name falsely, neither shalt thou
profane the
name of thy God: I am the LORD.
You must not
swear falsely by My
name and so
profane the
name of your God. I am the LORD.
And I will set my face against that man, and will cut him off from among his people; because he hath given of his seed unto
Molech, to
defile my sanctuary, and to
profane my holy
name.
And I will set My face against that man and cut him off from his people, because by giving his offspring to
Molech, he has
defiled My sanctuary and
profaned My holy
name.
They shall be holy unto their God, and not
profane the
name of their God: for the offerings of the LORD made by fire, and the bread of their God, they do offer: therefore they shall be holy.
They must be holy to their God and not
profane the
name of their God. Because they present to the LORD the offerings made by fire, the food of their God, they must be holy.
Speak unto Aaron and to his sons, that they separate themselves from the holy things of the children of Israel, and that they
profane not my holy
name in those things which they
hallow unto me: I am the LORD.
“Tell Aaron and his sons to treat with respect the sacred offerings that the Israelites have consecrated to Me, so that they do not
profane My holy
name. I am the LORD.
Neither shall ye
profane my holy
name; but I will be
hallowed among the children of Israel: I am the LORD which
hallow you,
You must not
profane My holy
name. I must be acknowledged as holy among the Israelites. I am the LORD who sanctifies you,
