torn of beasts I brought not unto thee; I bare the loss of it; of my hand

stolen by day, or
stolen by night.

payment from me for what was
stolen by day or night.

pay the LORD a
ransom for his life when he is counted. Then no plague will come upon them when they are numbered.
This they shall give, every one that passeth among them that are numbered, half a
shekel after the

despised my judgments, and because their soul

reckon unto him the worth of thy
estimation, even unto the year of the jubile: and he shall give thine

When thou shalt
vow a
vow unto the LORD thy God, thou shalt not
slack to
pay it: for the LORD thy God will surely require it of thee; and it would be sin in thee.

And the men of Judah said, Why are ye come up against us? And they answered, To bind
Samson are we come up, to do to him as he hath done to us.
“Why have you attacked us?” said the men of Judah. The Philistines replied, “We have come to arrest
Samson and
pay him back for what he has done to us.”
And
Samson called unto the LORD, and said, O Lord GOD, remember me, I pray thee, and
strengthen me, I pray thee, only this once, O God, that I may be at once
avenged of the Philistines for my two eyes.
Then
Samson called out to the LORD: “O Lord GOD, please remember me.
Strengthen me, O God, just once more, so that with one
vengeful blow I may
pay back the Philistines for my two eyes.”
And about the time of her death the women that stood by her said unto her, Fear not; for thou hast born a son. But she answered not, neither did she regard it.
As she was dying, the women attending to her said, “Do not be afraid, for you have given birth to a son!” But she did not
respond or
pay any
heed.
Wherefore David arose and went, he and his men, and
slew of the Philistines two hundred men; and David brought their foreskins, and they gave them in full tale to the king, that he might be the king’s son in law. And Saul gave him Michal his daughter to wife.
David and his men went out and killed two hundred Philistines. He brought their foreskins and presented them as payment in full to become the king’s son-in-law. Then Saul gave his daughter Michal to David in marriage.
Let not my lord, I pray thee, regard this man of
Belial, even Nabal: for as his name is, so is he; Nabal is his name, and folly is with him: but I thine
handmaid saw not the young men of my lord, whom thou
didst send.
My lord should
pay no attention to this
scoundrel Nabal, for he lives up to his name: His name means
Fool, and folly accompanies him. I, your servant, did not see my lord’s young men whom you sent.
It came even to pass on the third day, that, behold, a man came out of the camp from Saul with his clothes rent, and earth upon his head: and so it was, when he came to David, that he fell to the earth, and did
obeisance.
On the third day a man with
torn clothes and dust on his head arrived from Saul’s camp. When he came to David, he fell to the ground to
pay him
homage.

fourfold, because he did this thing, and because he had no
pity.
Because he has done this thing and has shown no
pity, he must
pay for the lamb four times over.”
And it came to pass after forty years, that
Absalom said unto the king, I pray thee, let me go and
pay my
vow, which I have
vowed unto the LORD, in
Hebron.

Absalom said to the king, “Please let me go to
Hebron to
fulfill a
vow I have made to the LORD.
But the people answered, Thou shalt not go forth: for if we
flee away, they will not care for us; neither if half of us die, will they care for us: but now thou art worth ten thousand of us: therefore now it is better that thou succour us out of the city.
But the people
pleaded, “You must not go out! For if we have to
flee, they will
pay no attention to us. Even if half of us die, they will not care; but you are worth ten thousand of us. It is better for now if you support us from the city.”

Nay; but I will surely
buy it of thee at a price: neither will I offer burnt offerings unto the LORD my God of that which
doth cost me nothing. So David bought the threshingfloor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver.
“No,” replied the king, “I
insist on
paying a price, for I will not offer to the LORD my God burnt offerings that cost me nothing.” So David bought the
threshing floor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver.
Now therefore command thou that they
hew me
cedar trees out of
Lebanon; and my servants shall be with thy servants: and unto thee will I give
hire for thy servants according to all that thou shalt
appoint: for thou knowest that there is not among us any that can skill to
hew timber like unto the Sidonians.
Now therefore, order that cedars of
Lebanon be cut down for me. My servants will be with your servants, and I will
pay your servants whatever wages you set, for you know that there are none among us as skilled in
logging as the Sidonians.”
And as the king passed by, he
cried unto the king: and he said, Thy servant went out into the midst of the battle; and, behold, a man turned aside, and brought a man unto me, and said, Keep this man: if by any means he be missing, then shall thy life be for his life, or else thou shalt
pay a talent of silver.
As the king passed by, he
cried out to the king: “Your servant had marched out into the middle of the battle, when suddenly a man came over with a
captive and told me, ‘Guard this man! If he goes missing for any reason, your life will be exchanged for his life, or you will
weigh out a talent of silver.’
Then she came and told the man of God. And he said, Go, sell the oil, and pay thy debt, and live thou and thy children of the rest.

And they gave the money, being told, into the hands of them that did the work, that had the oversight of the house of the LORD: and they laid it out to the carpenters and builders, that wrought upon the house of the LORD,
Then they would put the counted money into the hands of those who
supervised the work on the house of the LORD, who in turn would
pay those doing the work—the carpenters, builders,
Moreover they reckoned not with the men, into whose hand they delivered the money to be bestowed on workmen: for they dealt faithfully.
No accounting was required from the men who received the money to
pay the workmen, because they acted with
integrity.
And
Hezekiah king of Judah sent to the king of Assyria to
Lachish, saying, I have
offended; return from me: that which thou puttest on me will I bear. And the king of Assyria appointed unto
Hezekiah king of Judah three hundred talents of silver and thirty talents of gold.
So
Hezekiah king of Judah sent word to the king of Assyria at
Lachish, saying, “I have done wrong; withdraw from me, and I will
pay whatever you demand from me.” And the king of Assyria exacted from
Hezekiah king of Judah three hundred talents of silver and thirty talents of gold.
And king David said to Ornan,
Nay; but I will
verily buy it for the full price: for I will not take that which is thine for the LORD, nor offer burnt offerings without cost.
“No,” replied King David, “I
insist on
paying the full price, for I will not take for the LORD what belongs to you, nor will I offer burnt offerings that cost me nothing.”
And, behold, I will give to thy servants, the hewers that cut timber, twenty thousand measures of beaten wheat, and twenty thousand measures of barley, and twenty thousand baths of wine, and twenty thousand baths of oil.
I will pay your servants, the woodcutters, 20,000 cors of ground wheat, 20,000 cors of barley, 20,000 baths of wine, and 20,000 baths of olive oil.”
But of their children, who were left after them in the land, whom the children of Israel consumed not, them did Solomon make to pay tribute until this day.

Be it known now unto the king, that, if this city be builded, and the walls set up again, then will they not
pay toll, tribute, and custom, and so thou shalt
endamage the revenue of the kings.
Let it now be known to the king that if that city is rebuilt and its walls are restored, they will not
pay tribute, duty, or
toll, and the royal treasury will suffer.
And if anything else is needed for the house of your God that you may have occasion to supply, you may pay for it from the royal treasury.
There were also that said, We have borrowed money for the king’s tribute, and that upon our lands and vineyards.
Still others were saying, “We have borrowed money to pay the king’s tax on our fields and vineyards.
And all the king’s servants, that were in the king’s gate, bowed, and reverenced
Haman: for the king had so commanded concerning him. But
Mordecai bowed not, nor did him reverence.
All the royal servants at the king’s gate bowed down and paid
homage to
Haman, because the king had commanded that this be done for him. But
Mordecai would not bow down or
pay homage.
And when
Haman saw that
Mordecai bowed not, nor did him reverence, then was
Haman full of wrath.
If it please the king, let it be written that they may be destroyed: and I will
pay ten thousand talents of silver to the hands of those that have the charge of the business, to bring it into the king’s
treasuries.
If it pleases the king, let a decree be issued to destroy them, and I will deposit ten thousand talents of silver into the royal treasury to pay those who carry it out.”
And
Mordecai told him of all that had happened unto him, and of the sum of the money that
Haman had promised to
pay to the king’s
treasuries for the Jews, to destroy them.
and
Mordecai told him all that had happened to him, including the exact amount of money that
Haman had promised to
pay into the royal treasury in order to destroy the Jews.
Thou shalt make thy prayer unto him, and he shall hear thee, and thou shalt pay thy vows.
You will pray to Him, and He will hear you, and you will
fulfill your vows.
If I have eaten the fruits thereof without money, or have caused the owners thereof to lose their life:
if I have
devoured its produce without
payment or broken the spirit of its tenants,
Mark well, O Job,
hearken unto me: hold thy peace, and I will speak.
Pay attention, Job, and
listen to me; be silent, and I will speak.
My praise shall be of thee in the great congregation: I will pay my vows before them that fear him.
My praise for You resounds in the great assembly; I will
fulfill my vows before those who fear You.
The wicked borroweth, and payeth not again: but the righteous sheweth mercy, and giveth.
The wicked
borrow and do not repay, but the righteous are
gracious and giving.
None of them can by any means
redeem his brother, nor give to God a
ransom for him:
No man can possibly
redeem his brother or
pay his
ransom to God.
(For the
redemption of their soul is precious, and it ceaseth for ever:)
For the
redemption of his soul is costly, and never can
payment suffice,
Offer unto God
thanksgiving; and
pay thy vows unto the most High:
Sacrifice a
thank offering to God, and
fulfill your vows to the Most High.
I will go into thy house with burnt offerings: I will pay thee my vows,
I will enter Your house with burnt offerings; I will
fulfill my vows to You—
Vow, and
pay unto the LORD your God: let all that be round about him bring presents unto him that ought to be feared.
Make and
fulfill your vows to the LORD your God; let all the
neighboring lands bring tribute to Him who is to be feared.
And render unto our neighbours
sevenfold into their
bosom their reproach,
wherewith they have reproached thee, O Lord.
Pay back into the laps of our neighbors
sevenfold the reproach they
hurled at You, O Lord.
Yet they say, The LORD shall not see, neither shall the God of Jacob regard it.
They say, “The LORD does not see; the God of Jacob
pays no
heed.”
Whoso is wise, and will observe these things, even they shall understand the lovingkindness of the LORD.
Let him who is wise
pay heed to these things and consider the loving devotion of the LORD.
I will pay my vows unto the LORD now in the presence of all his people.
I will
fulfill my vows to the LORD in the presence of all His people.
I will pay my vows unto the LORD now in the presence of all his people,
I will
fulfill my vows to the LORD in the presence of all His people,
Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding.
Listen, my sons, to a father’s instruction;
pay attention and gain understanding.
My son, attend to my words;
incline thine ear unto my sayings.
My son,
pay attention to my words;
incline your ear to my sayings.
My son, attend unto my wisdom, and bow thine ear to my understanding:
My son,
pay attention to my wisdom;
incline your ear to my insight,
But if he be found, he shall restore
sevenfold; he shall give all the substance of his house.
Yet if caught, he must
pay sevenfold; he must give up all the wealth of his house.
I have peace offerings with me; this day have I payed my vows.
“I have made my peace offerings;
today I have paid my vows.
Whoso despiseth the word shall be destroyed: but he that feareth the commandment shall be rewarded.
He who despises instruction will pay the penalty, but the one who respects a command will be rewarded.
He that hath
pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD; and that which he hath given will he
pay him again.
Kindness to the poor is a
loan to the LORD, and He will repay the
lender.
A man of great wrath shall suffer punishment: for if thou deliver him, yet thou must do it again.
A man of great anger must
pay the penalty; if you
rescue him, you will have to do so again.
If thou hast nothing to pay, why should he take away thy bed from under thee?
If you have nothing with which to pay, why should your bed be taken from under you?
A
prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself; but the simple pass on, and are punished.
The
prudent see danger and take cover; but the simple keep going and
pay the penalty.
Be thou
diligent to know the state of thy flocks, and look well to thy herds.
Be sure to know the state of your flocks, and pay close attention to your herds;
When thou vowest a
vow unto God,
defer not to
pay it; for he hath no pleasure in fools:
pay that which thou hast
vowed.
When you make a
vow to God, do not delay in
fulfilling it, because He takes no pleasure in fools.
Fulfill your
vow.
Better is it that thou shouldest not
vow, than that thou shouldest
vow and not
pay.
Also take no
heed unto all words that are spoken; lest thou hear thy servant
curse thee:
Do not
pay attention to every word that is spoken, or you may hear your servant
cursing you.
Associate
yourselves, O ye people, and ye shall be broken in pieces; and give ear, all ye of far countries:
gird yourselves, and ye shall be broken in pieces;
gird yourselves, and ye shall be broken in pieces.
Give ye ear, and hear my voice;
hearken, and hear my speech.
Listen and hear my voice.
Pay attention and hear what I say.
Come near, ye nations, to hear; and
hearken, ye people: let the earth hear, and all that is therein; the world, and all things that come forth of it.
Come near, O nations, to
listen;
pay attention, O peoples. Let the earth hear, and all that fills it, the world and all that springs from it.
Who among you will give ear to this? who will
hearken and hear for the time to come?
Who among you will
pay attention to this? Who will
listen and obey
hereafter?
Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old.
“Do not call to mind the former things; pay no attention to the things of old.
I have raised him up in righteousness, and I will direct all his ways: he shall build my city, and he shall let go my
captives, not for price nor reward, saith the LORD of hosts.
I will raise up Cyrus in righteousness, and I will make all his ways straight. He will rebuild My city and set My exiles free, but not for payment or reward, says the LORD of Hosts.”
Listen, O isles, unto me; and
hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the
womb; from the
bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name.
Listen to Me, O islands;
pay attention, O distant peoples: The LORD called Me from the
womb; from the body of My mother He named Me.
