Berean Standard Bible BSB Bible
And if any one of the common people sin through ignorance, while he doeth somewhat against any of the commandments of the LORD concerning things which ought not to be done, and be guilty;
And if one of the common
people sins
unintentionally and does what is prohibited by any of the LORD’s commandments, he incurs guilt.
But the soul that eateth of the flesh of the sacrifice of peace offerings, that
pertain unto the LORD, having his uncleanness upon him, even that soul shall be cut off from his
people.
But if
anyone who is unclean eats meat from the peace offering that belongs to the LORD, that person must be cut off from his
people.
Moreover the soul that shall touch any unclean thing, as the uncleanness of man, or any unclean beast, or any
abominable unclean thing, and eat of the flesh of the sacrifice of peace offerings, which
pertain unto the LORD, even that soul shall be cut off from his
people.
If one touches anything unclean, whether human uncleanness, an unclean animal, or any unclean,
detestable thing, and then eats any of the meat of the peace offering that belongs to the LORD, that person must be cut off from his
people.”
For
whosoever eateth the fat of the beast, of which men offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD, even the soul that eateth it shall be cut off from his
people.
If
anyone eats the fat of an animal from which an offering made by fire may be presented to the LORD, the one who eats it must be cut off from his
people.
Whatsoever soul it be that eateth any manner of blood, even that soul shall be cut off from his
people.
If
anyone eats blood, that person must be cut off from his
people.’”
And Moses said unto Aaron, Go unto the altar, and offer thy sin offering, and thy burnt offering, and make an
atonement for
thyself, and for the
people: and offer the offering of the
people, and make an
atonement for them; as the LORD commanded.
Then Moses said to Aaron, “Approach the altar and sacrifice your sin offering and your burnt offering to make
atonement for
yourself and for the
people. And sacrifice the
people’s offering to make
atonement for them, as the LORD has commanded.”
And he brought the
people’s offering, and took the goat, which was the sin offering for the
people, and
slew it, and offered it for sin, as the first.
Aaron then presented the people’s offering. He took the male goat for the people’s sin offering, slaughtered it, and offered it for sin like the first one.
He
slew also the
bullock and the ram for a sacrifice of peace offerings, which was for the
people: and Aaron’s sons presented unto him the blood, which he
sprinkled upon the altar round about,
Then he slaughtered the ox and the ram as the
people’s peace offering. His sons brought him the blood, and he
sprinkled it on all sides of the altar.
And Aaron lifted up his hand toward the people, and blessed them, and came down from offering of the sin offering, and the burnt offering, and peace offerings.
Aaron lifted up his hands toward the
people and blessed them. And having made the sin offering, the burnt offering, and the peace offering, he
stepped down.
And Moses and Aaron went into the tabernacle of the congregation, and came out, and blessed the people: and the glory of the LORD appeared unto all the people.
Moses and Aaron then entered the Tent of Meeting. When they came out, they blessed the people, and the glory of the LORD appeared to all the people.
And there came a fire out from before the LORD, and consumed upon the altar the burnt offering and the fat: which when all the
people saw, they
shouted, and fell on their faces.
Fire came out from the presence of the LORD and consumed the burnt offering and the fat portions on the altar. And when all the
people saw it, they
shouted for joy and fell facedown.
Then Moses said unto Aaron, This is it that the LORD spake, saying, I will be
sanctified in them that come
nigh me, and before all the
people I will be
glorified. And Aaron held his peace.
Then Moses said to Aaron, “This is what the LORD meant when He said: ‘To those who come near Me I will show My
holiness, and in the sight of all the
people I will
reveal My glory.’” But Aaron remained silent.
And Moses said unto Aaron, and unto
Eleazar and unto
Ithamar, his sons, Uncover not your heads, neither
rend your clothes; lest ye die, and lest wrath come upon all the
people: but let your brethren, the whole house of Israel,
bewail the burning which the LORD hath
kindled.
Then Moses said to Aaron and his sons
Eleazar and
Ithamar, “Do not let your hair become
disheveled and do not
tear your garments, or else you will die, and the LORD will be
angry with the whole congregation. But your brothers, the whole house of Israel, may
mourn on account of the fire that the LORD has
ignited.
Then shall he kill the goat of the sin offering, that is for the
people, and bring his blood within the
vail, and do with that blood as he did with the blood of the
bullock, and
sprinkle it upon the mercy seat, and before the mercy seat:
Aaron shall then slaughter the goat for the sin offering for the
people and bring its blood behind the
veil, and with its blood he must do as he did with the bull’s blood: He is to
sprinkle it against the mercy seat and in front of it.
And he shall wash his flesh with water in the holy place, and put on his garments, and come forth, and offer his burnt offering, and the burnt offering of the
people, and make an
atonement for himself, and for the
people.
He is to
bathe himself with water in a holy place and put on his own clothes. Then he must go out and sacrifice his burnt offering and the
people’s burnt offering to make
atonement for himself and for the
people.
And he shall make an
atonement for the holy sanctuary, and he shall make an
atonement for the tabernacle of the congregation, and for the altar, and he shall make an
atonement for the priests, and for all the
people of the congregation.
and make
atonement for the Most Holy Place, the Tent of Meeting, and the altar, and for the priests and all the
people of the assembly.
And bringeth it not unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, to offer an offering unto the LORD before the tabernacle of the LORD; blood shall be imputed unto that man; he hath shed blood; and that man shall be cut off from among his people:
instead of bringing it to the entrance to the Tent of Meeting to present it as an offering to the LORD before His tabernacle—that man shall
incur bloodguilt. He has shed blood and must be cut off from among his
people.
And bringeth it not unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, to offer it unto the LORD; even that man shall be cut off from among his people.
but does not bring it to the entrance to the Tent of Meeting to sacrifice it to the LORD, that man must be cut off from his people.
And
whatsoever man there be of the house of Israel, or of the strangers that
sojourn among you, that eateth any manner of blood; I will even set my face against that soul that eateth blood, and will cut him off from among his
people.
If
anyone from the house of Israel or a foreigner living among them eats any blood, I will set My face against that person and cut him off from among his
people.
For
whosoever shall commit any of these abominations, even the souls that commit them shall be cut off from among their
people.
Therefore
anyone who commits any of these abominations must be cut off from among his
people.
Therefore every one that eateth it shall bear his iniquity, because he hath
profaned the
hallowed thing of the LORD: and that soul shall be cut off from among his
people.
Whoever eats it will bear his iniquity, for he has
profaned what is holy to the LORD. That person must be cut off from his
people.
Thou shalt not go up and down as a
talebearer among thy
people: neither shalt thou stand against the blood of thy neighbour: I am the LORD.
You must not go about spreading
slander among your
people. You must not
endanger the life of your
neighbor. I am the LORD.
Thou shalt not
avenge, nor bear any
grudge against the children of thy
people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as
thyself: I am the LORD.
Again, thou shalt say to the children of Israel,
Whosoever he be of the children of Israel, or of the strangers that
sojourn in Israel, that giveth any of his seed unto
Molech; he shall surely be put to death: the
people of the land shall stone him with stones.
“Tell the Israelites, ‘Any
Israelite or foreigner living in Israel who gives any of his children to
Molech must be put to death. The
people of the land are to stone him.
And I will set my face against that man, and will cut him off from among his
people; because he hath given of his seed unto
Molech, to
defile my sanctuary, and to
profane my holy name.
And I will set My face against that man and cut him off from his
people, because by giving his offspring to
Molech, he has
defiled My sanctuary and
profaned My holy name.
And if the
people of the land do any ways hide their eyes from the man, when he giveth of his seed unto
Molech, and kill him not:
And if the
people of the land ever hide their eyes and fail to put to death the man who gives one of his children to
Molech,
Then I will set my face against that man, and against his family, and will cut him off, and all that go a
whoring after him, to commit
whoredom with
Molech, from among their
people.
then I will set My face against that man and his family and cut off from among their
people both him and all who follow him in
prostituting themselves with
Molech.
And the soul that turneth after such as have familiar spirits, and after wizards, to go a
whoring after them, I will even set my face against that soul, and will cut him off from among his
people.
Whoever turns to mediums or spiritists to
prostitute himself with them, I will also set My face against that person and cut him off from his
people.
And if a man shall take his sister, his father’s daughter, or his mother’s daughter, and see her nakedness, and she see his nakedness; it is a wicked thing; and they shall be cut off in the sight of their people: he hath uncovered his sister’s nakedness; he shall bear his iniquity.
If a man marries his sister, whether the daughter of his father or of his mother, and they have sexual relations, it is a disgrace. They must be cut off in the sight of their people. He has uncovered the nakedness of his sister; he shall bear his iniquity.
And if a man shall lie with a woman having her sickness, and shall uncover her nakedness; he hath discovered her fountain, and she hath uncovered the fountain of her blood: and both of them shall be cut off from among their people.
If a man lies with a
menstruating woman and has sexual relations with her, he has exposed the source of her flow, and she has uncovered the source of her blood. Both of them must be cut off from among their
people.
But I have said unto you, Ye shall
inherit their land, and I will give it unto you to possess it, a land that floweth with milk and honey: I am the LORD your God, which have separated you from other
people.
But I have told you that you will
inherit their land, since I will give it to you as an inheritance—a land flowing with milk and honey. I am the LORD your God, who has set you apart from the
peoples.
And ye shall be holy unto me: for I the LORD am holy, and have severed you from other people, that ye should be mine.
You are to be holy to Me because I, the LORD, am holy, and I have set you apart from the nations to be My own.
And the LORD said unto Moses, Speak unto the priests the sons of Aaron, and say unto them, There shall none be
defiled for the dead among his
people:
Then the LORD said to Moses, “Speak to Aaron’s sons, the priests, and tell them that a priest is not to
defile himself for a dead person among his
people,
But he shall not
defile himself, being a chief man among his
people, to
profane himself.
He is not to
defile himself for those related to him by marriage, and so
profane himself.
A widow, or a
divorced woman, or
profane, or an
harlot, these shall he not take: but he shall take a virgin of his own
people to wife.
Neither shall he
profane his seed among his
people: for I the LORD do
sanctify him.
so that he does not
defile his offspring among his
people, for I am the LORD who sanctifies him.”
Or suffer them to bear the iniquity of
trespass, when they eat their holy things: for I the LORD do
sanctify them.
by allowing the people to eat the sacred offerings and thus to bear the punishment for guilt. For I am the LORD who sanctifies them.”
For
whatsoever soul it be that shall not be
afflicted in that same day, he shall be cut off from among his
people.
If
anyone does not humble himself on this day, he must be cut off from his
people.
And
whatsoever soul it be that doeth any work in that same day, the same soul will I destroy from among his
people.
I will destroy from among his
people anyone who does any work on this day.
And I will walk among you, and will be your God, and ye shall be my people.
I will walk among you and be your God, and you will be My people.
And the children of Israel did so, and put them out without the camp: as the LORD spake unto Moses, so did the children of Israel.
So the Israelites did this, sending such
people outside the camp. They did just as the LORD had
instructed Moses.
Then the priest shall charge the woman with an oath of
cursing, and the priest shall say unto the woman, The LORD make thee a
curse and an oath among thy
people, when the LORD
doth make thy
thigh to
rot, and thy
belly to swell;
And when he hath made her to drink the water, then it shall come to pass, that, if she be
defiled, and have done
trespass against her husband, that the water that causeth the
curse shall enter into her, and become bitter, and her
belly shall swell, and her
thigh shall
rot: and the woman shall be a
curse among her
people.
When he has made her drink the water, if she has
defiled herself and been unfaithful to her husband, then the water that brings a
curse will enter her and cause bitter suffering; her
belly will swell, her
thigh will
shrivel, and she will become
accursed among her
people.
The
fourteenth day of the second month at even they shall keep it, and eat it with
unleavened bread and bitter herbs.
Such
people are to observe it at
twilight on the
fourteenth day of the second month. They are to eat the lamb, together with
unleavened bread and bitter herbs;
But the man that is clean, and is not in a journey, and forbeareth to keep the
passover, even the same soul shall be cut off from among his
people: because he brought not the offering of the LORD in his appointed season, that man shall bear his sin.
But if a man who is
ceremonially clean and is not on a journey still fails to observe the
Passover, he must be cut off from his
people, because he did not present the LORD’s offering at its appointed time. That man will bear the consequences of his sin.
And he said unto him, I will not go; but I will depart to mine own land, and to my kindred.
“I will not go,” Hobab replied. “Instead, I am going back to my own land and my own people.”
And when the
people complained, it displeased the LORD: and the LORD heard it; and his anger was
kindled; and the fire of the LORD burnt among them, and consumed them that were in the
uttermost parts of the camp.
Soon the
people began to
complain about their
hardship in the hearing of the LORD, and when He heard them, His anger was
kindled, and fire from the LORD
blazed among them and consumed the outskirts of the camp.
And the
people cried unto Moses; and when Moses prayed unto the LORD, the fire was
quenched.
And the
people cried out to Moses, and he prayed to the LORD, and the fire died down.
And the
people went about, and gathered it, and ground it in mills, or beat it in a mortar, and
baked it in pans, and made cakes of it: and the taste of it was as the taste of fresh oil.
The
people walked around and gathered it, ground it on a
handmill or
crushed it in a mortar, then boiled it in a
cooking pot or shaped it into cakes. It tasted like
pastry baked with fine oil.
Then Moses heard the
people weep throughout their families, every man in the door of his tent: and the anger of the LORD was
kindled greatly; Moses also was displeased.
Then Moses heard the
people of family after family
weeping at the entrances to their tents, and the anger of the LORD was
kindled greatly, and Moses was also displeased.
And Moses said unto the LORD, Wherefore hast thou
afflicted thy servant? and wherefore have I not found favour in thy sight, that thou layest the burden of all this
people upon me?
So Moses asked the LORD, “Why have You brought this trouble on Your servant? Why have I not found favor in Your sight, that You have laid upon me the burden of all these people?
Have I conceived all this
people? have I
begotten them, that thou shouldest say unto me, Carry them in thy
bosom, as a
nursing father beareth the
sucking child, unto the land which thou swarest unto their fathers?
Did I conceive all these
people? Did I give them birth, so that You should tell me, ‘Carry them in your
bosom, as a
nurse carries an infant,’ to the land that You
swore to give their fathers?
Whence should I have flesh to give unto all this
people? for they
weep unto me, saying, Give us flesh, that we may eat.
Where can I get meat for all these people? For they keep crying out to me, ‘Give us meat to eat!’
I am not able to bear all this people alone, because it is too heavy for me.
I cannot carry all these
people by myself; it is too
burdensome for me.
And the LORD said unto Moses, Gather unto me seventy men of the elders of Israel, whom thou knowest to be the elders of the people, and officers over them; and bring them unto the tabernacle of the congregation, that they may stand there with thee.
Then the LORD said to Moses, “Bring Me seventy of the elders of Israel known to you as leaders and officers of the people. Bring them to the Tent of Meeting and have them stand there with you.
And I will come down and talk with thee there: and I will take of the spirit which is upon thee, and will put it upon them; and they shall bear the burden of the
people with thee, that thou bear it not
thyself alone.
And I will come down and speak with you there, and I will take some of the Spirit that is on you and put that Spirit on them. They will help you bear the burden of the
people, so that you do not have to bear it by
yourself.
And say thou unto the
people,
Sanctify yourselves against to
morrow, and ye shall eat flesh: for ye have
wept in the ears of the LORD, saying, Who shall give us flesh to eat? for it was well with us in Egypt: therefore the LORD will give you flesh, and ye shall eat.
And say to the
people:
Consecrate yourselves for
tomorrow, and you will eat meat, because you have
cried out in the hearing of the LORD, saying: ‘Who will feed us meat? For we were better off in Egypt!’ Therefore the LORD will give you meat, and you will eat.
And Moses said, The
people, among whom I am, are six hundred thousand
footmen; and thou hast said, I will give them flesh, that they may eat a whole month.
But Moses replied, “Here I am among 600,000 men on foot, yet You say, ‘I will give them meat, and they will eat for a month.’
And Moses went out, and told the people the words of the LORD, and gathered the seventy men of the elders of the people, and set them round about the tabernacle.
So Moses went out and relayed to the people the words of the LORD, and he gathered seventy of the elders of the people and had them stand around the tent.
And Moses said unto him, Enviest thou for my sake? would God that all the LORD’S people were prophets, and that the LORD would put his spirit upon them!
But Moses replied, “Are you
jealous on my account? I wish that all the LORD’s
people were prophets and that the LORD would place His Spirit on them!”
And the people stood up all that day, and all that night, and all the next day, and they gathered the quails: he that gathered least gathered ten homers: and they spread them all abroad for themselves round about the camp.
All that day and night, and all the next day, the
people stayed up gathering the
quail. No one gathered less than ten homers, and they spread them out all around the camp.
And while the flesh was yet between their teeth,
ere it was
chewed, the wrath of the LORD was
kindled against the
people, and the LORD
smote the
people with a very great plague.
But while the meat was still between their teeth, before it was
chewed, the anger of the LORD burned against the
people, and the LORD struck them with a severe plague.
And he called the name of that place
Kibroth-hattaavah: because there they buried the
people that
lusted.
So they called that place
Kibroth-hattaavah, because there they buried the
people who had
craved other food.
And the
people journeyed from
Kibroth-hattaavah unto Hazeroth; and abode at Hazeroth.
From
Kibroth-hattaavah the
people moved on to Hazeroth, where they remained for some time.
And
Miriam was shut out from the camp seven days: and the
people journeyed not till
Miriam was brought in again.
So
Miriam was confined outside the camp for seven days, and the
people did not move on until she was brought in again.
And afterward the
people removed from Hazeroth, and pitched in the wilderness of
Paran.
After that, the
people set out from Hazeroth and camped in the Wilderness of
Paran.
And see the land, what it is; and the people that dwelleth therein, whether they be strong or weak, few or many;
See what the land is like and whether its people are strong or weak, few or many.
Nevertheless the
people be strong that dwell in the land, and the cities are walled, and very great: and moreover we saw the children of
Anak there.
Nevertheless, the
people living in the land are strong, and the cities are large and fortified. We even saw the descendants of
Anak there.
And
Caleb stilled the
people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.
Then
Caleb quieted the
people before Moses and said, “We must go up and take possession of the land, for we can certainly
conquer it!”
But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we.
But the men who had gone up with him replied, “We cannot go up against the people, for they are stronger than we are!”
And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to search it, is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the
people that we saw in it are men of a great
stature.
So they gave the Israelites a bad report about the land that they had
spied out: “The land we
explored devours its inhabitants, and all the
people we saw there are great in
stature.
And all the congregation lifted up their voice, and
cried; and the
people wept that night.
Then the whole congregation lifted up their voices and
cried out, and that night the
people wept.
Only
rebel not ye against the LORD, neither fear ye the
people of the land; for they are bread for us: their defence is departed from them, and the LORD is with us: fear them not.
Only do not
rebel against the LORD, and do not be afraid of the
people of the land, for they will be like bread for us. Their protection has been removed, and the LORD is with us. Do not be afraid of them!”
And the LORD said unto Moses, How long will this
people provoke me? and how long will it be
ere they believe me, for all the signs which I have shewed among them?
And the LORD said to Moses, “How long will this
people treat Me with contempt? How long will they refuse to believe in Me,
despite all the signs I have performed among them?
And Moses said unto the LORD, Then the Egyptians shall hear it, (for thou broughtest up this people in thy might from among them;)
But Moses said to the LORD, “The Egyptians will hear of it, for by Your strength You brought this people from among them.
And they will tell it to the inhabitants of this land: for they have heard that thou LORD art among this
people, that thou LORD art seen face to face, and that thy cloud standeth over them, and that thou goest before them, by
daytime in a
pillar of a cloud, and in a
pillar of fire by night.
And they will tell it to the inhabitants of this land. They have already heard that You, O LORD, are in the midst of this
people, that You, O LORD, have been seen face to face, that Your cloud stands over them, and that You go before them in a
pillar of cloud by day and a
pillar of fire by night.
Now if thou shalt kill all this people as one man, then the nations which have heard the fame of thee will speak, saying,
If You kill this people as one man, the nations who have heard of Your fame will say,
Because the LORD was not able to bring this
people into the land which he
sware unto them, therefore he hath slain them in the wilderness.
‘Because the LORD was unable to bring this
people into the land He
swore to give them, He has slaughtered them in the wilderness.’
Pardon, I
beseech thee, the iniquity of this
people according unto the greatness of thy mercy, and as thou hast
forgiven this
people, from Egypt even until now.
Pardon, I pray, the iniquity of this
people, in keeping with the greatness of Your loving devotion, just as You have
forgiven them ever since they left Egypt.”
And Moses told these sayings unto all the children of Israel: and the
people mourned greatly.
And when Moses relayed these words to all the Israelites, the
people mourned bitterly.
And it shall be
forgiven all the congregation of the children of Israel, and the stranger that sojourneth among them; seeing all the
people were in ignorance.
Then the whole congregation of Israel and the foreigners residing among them will be
forgiven, since it happened to all the
people unintentionally.
But the soul that doeth ought
presumptuously, whether he be born in the land, or a stranger, the same reproacheth the LORD; and that soul shall be cut off from among his
people.
But the person who sins defiantly, whether a native or foreigner, blasphemes the LORD. That person shall be cut off from among his people.
And all Israel that were round about them fled at the cry of them: for they said, Lest the earth
swallow us up also.
At their
cries, all the
people of Israel who were around them fled, saying, “The earth may
swallow us too!”
But on the
morrow all the congregation of the children of Israel
murmured against Moses and against Aaron, saying, Ye have killed the
people of the LORD.
The next day the whole congregation of Israel grumbled against Moses and Aaron, saying, “You have killed the LORD’s people!”
And Aaron took as Moses commanded, and ran into the midst of the congregation; and, behold, the plague was begun among the
people: and he put on incense, and made an
atonement for the
people.
So Aaron took the
censer as Moses had ordered and ran into the midst of the assembly. And seeing that the plague had begun among the
people, he offered the incense and made
atonement for the
people.
And a clean person shall take
hyssop, and dip it in the water, and
sprinkle it upon the tent, and upon all the vessels, and upon the persons that were there, and upon him that touched a bone, or one slain, or one dead, or a grave:
Then a man who is
ceremonially clean is to take some
hyssop, dip it in the water, and
sprinkle the tent, all the furnishings, and the
people who were there. He is also to
sprinkle the one who touched a bone, a grave, or a person who has died or been slain.
And it shall be a perpetual statute unto them, that he that sprinkleth the water of separation shall wash his clothes; and he that toucheth the water of separation shall be unclean until even.
This is a permanent statute for the
people: The one who sprinkles the water of
purification must wash his clothes, and
whoever touches the water of
purification will be unclean until evening.
Then came the children of Israel, even the whole congregation, into the desert of Zin in the first month: and the
people abode in Kadesh; and
Miriam died there, and was buried there.
In the first month, the whole congregation of Israel entered the Wilderness of Zin and stayed in Kadesh. There
Miriam died and was buried.
And the
people chode with Moses, and spake, saying, Would God that we had died when our brethren died before the LORD!
The people quarreled with Moses and said, “If only we had perished with our brothers before the LORD!
And he said, Thou shalt not go through. And
Edom came out against him with much
people, and with a strong hand.
But
Edom insisted, “You may not pass through.” And they came out to
confront the Israelites with a large army and a strong hand.
Aaron shall be gathered unto his people: for he shall not enter into the land which I have given unto the children of Israel, because ye rebelled against my word at the water of Meribah.
“Aaron will be gathered to his people; he will not enter the land that I have given the Israelites, because both of you rebelled against My command at the waters of Meribah.
And strip Aaron of his garments, and put them upon
Eleazar his son: and Aaron shall be gathered unto his
people, and shall die there.
Remove Aaron’s priestly garments and put them on his son
Eleazar. Aaron will be gathered to his
people and will die there.”
And Israel
vowed a
vow unto the LORD, and said, If thou
wilt indeed deliver this
people into my hand, then I will utterly destroy their cities.
So Israel made a
vow to the LORD: “If You will deliver this
people into our hands, we will
devote their cities to destruction.”
And they journeyed from mount
Hor by the way of the Red sea, to compass the land of
Edom: and the soul of the
people was much discouraged because of the way.
Then they set out from Mount
Hor along the route to the Red Sea, in order to bypass the land of
Edom. But the
people grew impatient on the journey
And the people spake against God, and against Moses, Wherefore have ye brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? for there is no bread, neither is there any water; and our soul loatheth this light bread.
and spoke against God and against Moses: “Why have you led us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? There is no bread or water, and we
detest this
wretched food!”
And the LORD sent
fiery serpents among the
people, and they
bit the
people; and much
people of Israel died.
So the LORD sent
venomous snakes among the
people, and many of the Israelites were
bitten and died.
Therefore the
people came to Moses, and said, We have
sinned, for we have spoken against the LORD, and against thee; pray unto the LORD, that he take away the serpents from us. And Moses prayed for the
people.
Then the
people came to Moses and said, “We have
sinned by speaking against the LORD and against you.
Intercede with the LORD so He will take the snakes away from us.” So Moses
