And ye shall dwell with us: and the land shall be before you; dwell and trade ye therein, and get you possessions therein.
You may settle among us, and the land will be open to you. Live here, move about freely, and acquire your own property.”
And
Esau took his wives, and his sons, and his daughters, and all the persons of his house, and his cattle, and all his beasts, and all his substance, which he had got in the land of
Canaan; and went into the country from the face of his brother Jacob.
Later,
Esau took his wives and sons and daughters and all the people of his household, along with his
livestock, all his other animals, and all the
property he had acquired in
Canaan, and he moved to a land far away from his brother Jacob.
And Joseph placed his father and his brethren, and gave them a possession in the land of Egypt, in the best of the land, in the land of
Rameses, as Pharaoh had commanded.
So Joseph settled his father and brothers in the land of Egypt and gave them
property in the best part of the land, the district of
Rameses, as Pharaoh had commanded.
And Israel dwelt in the land of Egypt, in the country of
Goshen; and they had possessions therein, and grew, and multiplied exceedingly.
Now the Israelites settled in the land of Egypt, in the region of
Goshen. They acquired
property there and became fruitful and increased greatly in number.
Notwithstanding, if he continue a day or two, he shall not be punished: for he is his money.
However, if the servant gets up after a day or two, the owner shall not be punished, since the servant is his property.
If the
thief be not found, then the master of the house shall be brought unto the judges, to see whether he have put his hand unto his neighbour’s goods.
If the
thief is not found, the owner of the house must appear before the judges to determine whether he has taken his
neighbor’s
property.
Then shall an oath of the LORD be between them both, that he hath not put his hand unto his neighbour’s goods; and the owner of it shall accept thereof, and he shall not make it good.
an oath before the LORD shall be made between the parties to determine whether or not the man has taken his
neighbor’s
property. The owner must accept the oath and require no
restitution.
If a soul commit a
trespass, and sin through ignorance, in the holy things of the LORD; then he shall bring for his
trespass unto the LORD a ram without
blemish out of the flocks, with thy
estimation by shekels of silver, after the
shekel of the sanctuary, for a
trespass offering:
“If someone acts unfaithfully and sins
unintentionally against any of the LORD’s holy things, he must bring his guilt offering to the LORD: an
unblemished ram from the flock, of
proper value in silver shekels according to the sanctuary
shekel; it is a guilt offering.
And he shall bring a ram without
blemish out of the flock, with thy
estimation, for a
trespass offering, unto the priest: and the priest shall make an
atonement for him concerning his ignorance wherein he
erred and
wist it not, and it shall be
forgiven him.
He is to bring to the priest an
unblemished ram of
proper value from the flock as a guilt offering. Then the priest will make
atonement on his behalf for the wrong he has committed in ignorance, and he will be
forgiven.
Or have found that which was lost, and lieth concerning it, and sweareth falsely; in any of all these that a man doeth,
sinning therein:
or finds lost property and lies about it and swears falsely, or if he commits any such sin that a man might commit—
Then it shall be, because he hath
sinned, and is guilty, that he shall restore that which he took violently away, or the thing which he hath
deceitfully gotten, or that which was delivered him to keep, or the lost thing which he found,
once he has
sinned and becomes guilty, he must return what he has
stolen or taken by
extortion, or the deposit entrusted to him, or the lost
property he found,
Then he must bring to the priest his guilt offering to the LORD: an
unblemished ram of
proper value from the flock.
And ye shall
hallow the
fiftieth year, and
proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof: it shall be a jubile unto you; and ye shall return every man unto his possession, and ye shall return every man unto his family.
So you are to
consecrate the
fiftieth year and
proclaim liberty in the land for all its inhabitants. It shall be your
Jubilee, when each of you is to return to his
property and to his clan.
In the year of this jubile ye shall return every man unto his possession.
In this Year of
Jubilee, each of you shall return to his own
property.
And in all the land of your possession ye shall grant a
redemption for the land.
Thus for every piece of
property you possess, you must provide for the
redemption of the land.
If thy brother be
waxen poor, and hath sold away some of his possession, and if any of his
kin come to
redeem it, then shall he
redeem that which his brother sold.
If your brother becomes
impoverished and sells some of his
property, his nearest of
kin may come and
redeem what his brother has sold.
Then let him count the years of the sale thereof, and restore the
overplus unto the man to whom he sold it; that he may return unto his possession.
he shall
calculate the years since its sale, repay the balance to the man to whom he sold it, and return to his
property.
But if he be not able to restore it to him, then that which is sold shall remain in the hand of him that hath bought it until the year of jubile: and in the jubile it shall go out, and he shall return unto his possession.
But if he cannot obtain enough to repay him, what he sold will remain in possession of the
buyer until the Year of
Jubilee. In the
Jubilee, however, it is to be released, so that he may return to his
property.
And then shall he depart from thee, both he and his children with him, and shall return unto his own family, and unto the possession of his fathers shall he return.
Then he and his children are to be released, and he may return to his clan and to the property of his fathers.
Moreover of the children of the strangers that do
sojourn among you, of them shall ye
buy, and of their families that are with you, which they
begat in your land: and they shall be your possession.
You may also purchase them from the foreigners residing among you or their clans living among you who are born in your land. These may become your property.
And ye shall take them as an inheritance for your children after you, to
inherit them for a possession; they shall be your
bondmen for ever: but over your brethren the children of Israel, ye shall not rule one over another with rigour.
You may leave them to your sons after you to
inherit as
property; you can make them slaves for life. But as for your brothers, the Israelites, no man may rule harshly over his brother.
But the field, when it goeth out in the jubile, shall be holy unto the LORD, as a field devoted; the possession thereof shall be the priest’s.
When the field is released in the
Jubilee, it will become holy, like a field devoted to the LORD; it becomes the
property of the priests.
And if a man
sanctify unto the LORD a field which he hath bought, which is not of the fields of his possession;
Now if a man consecrates to the LORD a field he has purchased, which is not a part of his own property,
Why should the name of our father be done away from among his family, because he hath no son? Give unto us therefore a possession among the brethren of our father.
Why should the name of our father disappear from his clan because he had no sons? Give us property among our father’s brothers.”
The daughters of Zelophehad speak right: thou shalt surely give them a possession of an inheritance among their father’s brethren; and thou shalt cause the inheritance of their father to pass unto them.
“The daughters of Zelophehad speak correctly. You certainly must give them property as an inheritance among their father’s brothers, and transfer their father’s inheritance to them.
And build an altar unto the LORD thy God upon the top of this rock, in the ordered place, and take the second
bullock, and offer a burnt sacrifice with the wood of the
grove which thou shalt cut down.
Then build a
proper altar to the LORD your God on the top of this
stronghold. And with the wood of the Asherah pole you cut down, take the second bull and offer it as a burnt offering.”
Now this was the manner in former time in Israel concerning
redeeming and concerning changing, for to
confirm all things; a man
plucked off his
shoe, and gave it to his neighbour: and this was a testimony in Israel.
Now in former times in Israel, concerning the
redemption or exchange of
property, to make any matter legally binding a man would remove his
sandal and give it to the other party, and this was a
confirmation in Israel.
And all Israel shall
mourn for him, and
bury him: for he only of
Jeroboam shall come to the grave, because in him there is found some good thing toward the LORD God of Israel in the house of
Jeroboam.
All Israel will
mourn for him and
bury him. For this is the only one belonging to
Jeroboam who will receive a
proper burial, because only in him has the LORD, the God of Israel, found any good in the house of
Jeroboam.
And
Joram said, Make ready. And his
chariot was made ready. And
Joram king of Israel and
Ahaziah king of Judah went out, each in his
chariot, and they went out against
Jehu, and met him in the portion of
Naboth the Jezreelite.
Now the first inhabitants that dwelt in their possessions in their cities were, the Israelites, the priests, Levites, and the
Nethinims.
Now the first to resettle their own property in their cities were Israelites, priests, Levites, and temple servants.
For because ye did it not at the first, the LORD our God made a breach upon us, for that we sought him not after the due order.
It was because you Levites were not with us the first time that the LORD our God
burst forth in anger against us. For we did not
consult Him about the
proper order.”
And over the flocks was Jaziz the Hagerite. All these were the rulers of the substance which was king David’s.
Jaziz the Hagrite was in charge of the flocks. All these officials were in charge of King David’s property.
And David assembled all the princes of Israel, the princes of the tribes, and the captains of the companies that ministered to the king by course, and the captains over the thousands, and captains over the hundreds, and the stewards over all the substance and possession of the king, and of his sons, with the officers, and with the mighty men, and with all the
valiant men, unto Jerusalem.
Now David summoned all the leaders of Israel to Jerusalem: the leaders of the tribes, the leaders of the divisions in the king’s service, the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, and the officials in charge of all the
property and cattle of the king and his sons, along with the court officials and mighty men—every mighty man of
valor.
Moreover, because I have set my affection to the house of my God, I have of mine own proper good, of gold and silver, which I have given to the house of my God, over and above all that I have prepared for the holy house,
Moreover, because of my delight in the house of my God, I now give for it my personal treasures of gold and silver, over and above all that I have provided for this holy temple:
Now when all this was finished, all Israel that were present went out to the cities of Judah, and
brake the images in pieces, and cut down the groves, and threw down the high places and the altars out of all Judah and Benjamin, in Ephraim also and
Manasseh, until they had utterly destroyed them all. Then all the children of Israel returned, every man to his possession, into their own cities.
When all this had ended, the Israelites in attendance went out to the cities of Judah and broke up the sacred pillars,
chopped down the Asherah poles, and
tore down the high places and altars throughout Judah and Benjamin, as well as in Ephraim and
Manasseh, until they had utterly destroyed them all. Then all the Israelites returned to their cities, each to his own
property.
And
whosoever will not do the law of thy God, and the law of the king, let judgment be executed speedily upon him, whether it be unto death, or to
banishment, or to
confiscation of goods, or to imprisonment.
If
anyone does not keep the law of your God and the law of the king, let a strict judgment be executed against him, whether death,
banishment,
confiscation of
property, or imprisonment.
And that
whosoever would not come within three days, according to the counsel of the princes and the elders, all his substance should be
forfeited, and himself separated from the congregation of those that had been carried away.
Whoever failed to appear within three days would
forfeit all his
property, according to the counsel of the leaders and elders, and would himself be expelled from the assembly of the exiles.
Now these are the chief of the province that dwelt in Jerusalem: but in the cities of Judah dwelt every one in his possession in their cities, to wit, Israel, the priests, and the Levites, and the
Nethinims, and the children of Solomon’s servants.
These are the heads of the provinces who settled in Jerusalem. (In the villages of Judah, however, each lived on his own property in their towns—the Israelites, priests, Levites, temple servants, and descendants of Solomon’s servants—
And said, If it please the king, and if I have found favour in his sight, and the thing seem right before the king, and I be pleasing in his eyes, let it be written to reverse the letters devised by
Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, which he wrote to destroy the Jews which are in all the king’s provinces:
“If it pleases the king,” she said, “and if I have found favor in his sight, and the matter seems
proper to the king, and I am pleasing in his sight, may an order be written to
revoke the letters that the scheming
Haman son of Hammedatha, the Agagite, wrote to destroy the Jews in all the king’s provinces.
If a man
beget an hundred children, and live many years, so that the days of his years be many, and his soul be not filled with good, and also that he have no burial; I say, that an untimely birth is better than he.
A man may father a hundred children and live for many years; yet no matter how long he lives, if he is unsatisfied with his prosperity and does not even receive a
proper burial, I say that a
stillborn child is better off than he.
Blessed art thou, O land, when thy king is the son of nobles, and thy princes eat in due season, for strength, and not for
drunkenness!
Blessed are you, O land whose king is a son of nobles, and whose princes feast at the
proper time— for strength and not for
drunkenness.
For his God instructs and teaches him properly.
But Nebuzar-adan the captain of the guard left of the poor of the people, which had nothing, in the land of Judah, and gave them vineyards and fields at the same time.
But Nebuzaradan left behind in the land of Judah some of the poor people who had no property, and at that time he gave them vineyards and fields.
And ye shall
appoint the possession of the city five thousand broad, and five and twenty thousand long, over against the
oblation of the holy portion: it shall be for the whole house of Israel.
As the property of the city, you are to set aside an area 5,000 cubits wide and 25,000 cubits long, adjacent to the holy district. It will belong to the whole house of Israel.
And a portion shall be for the prince on the one side and on the other side of the
oblation of the holy portion, and of the possession of the city, before the
oblation of the holy portion, and before the possession of the city, from the west side westward, and from the east side eastward: and the length shall be over against one of the portions, from the west border unto the east border.
Now the prince will have the area bordering each side of the area formed by the holy district and the
property of the city, extending westward from the western side and eastward from the eastern side, running
lengthwise from the western boundary to the eastern boundary and parallel to one of the
tribal portions.
Thus saith the Lord GOD; If the prince give a gift unto any of his sons, the inheritance thereof shall be his sons’; it shall be their possession by inheritance.
This is what the Lord GOD says: ‘If the prince gives a gift to any of his sons as an inheritance, it will belong to his descendants. It will become their property by inheritance.
Moreover the prince shall not take of the people’s inheritance by oppression, to thrust them out of their possession; but he shall give his sons inheritance out of his own possession: that my people be not scattered every man from his possession.
The prince must not take any of the inheritance of the people by
evicting them from their
property. He is to provide an inheritance for his sons from his own
property, so that none of My people will be displaced from his
property.’”
All the
oblation shall be five and twenty thousand by five and twenty thousand: ye shall offer the holy
oblation foursquare, with the possession of the city.
The entire portion will be a square, 25,000 cubits by 25,000 cubits. You are to set apart the holy portion, along with the city property.
And the residue shall be for the prince, on the one side and on the other of the holy
oblation, and of the possession of the city, over against the five and twenty thousand of the
oblation toward the east border, and westward over against the five and twenty thousand toward the west border, over against the portions for the prince: and it shall be the holy
oblation; and the sanctuary of the house shall be in the midst thereof.
The remaining area on both sides of the holy portion and of the
property of the city will belong to the prince. He will own the land adjacent to the
tribal portions, extending eastward from the 25,000 cubits of the holy district toward the eastern border, and westward from the 25,000 cubits to the western border. And in the center of them will be the holy portion and the sanctuary of the temple.
Moreover from the possession of the Levites, and from the possession of the city, being in the midst of that which is the prince’s, between the border of Judah and the border of Benjamin, shall be for the prince.
So the
Levitical property and the city
property will lie in the center of the area belonging to the prince—the area between the borders of Judah and Benjamin.
And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be
cleansed.
He said to me, “It will take 2,300 evenings and mornings; then the sanctuary will be properly restored.”
Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?
Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom the master has put in charge of his household, to give the others their food at the proper time?
And, behold, thou shalt be
dumb, and not able to speak, until the day that these things shall be performed, because thou believest not my words, which shall be fulfilled in their season.
And now you will be silent and unable to speak until the day this comes to pass, because you did not believe my words, which will be fulfilled at their proper time.”
And the Lord said, Who then is that faithful and wise
steward, whom his lord shall make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of meat in due season?
And the Lord answered, “Who then is the faithful and wise
manager, whom the master puts in charge of his servants to give them their portion at the
proper time?
And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living.
The younger son said to him, ‘Father, give me my share of the estate.’ So he divided his property between them.
And it was known unto all the dwellers at Jerusalem;
insomuch as that field is called in their
proper tongue,
Aceldama, that is to say, The field of blood.
This became known to all who lived in Jerusalem, so they called that field in their own language Akeldama, that is, Field of Blood.)
Neither was there any among them that lacked: for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold,
There were no
needy ones among them, because those who owned lands or houses would sell their
property, bring the proceeds from the sales,
But a certain man named
Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession,
Now a man named
Ananias, together with his wife Sapphira, also sold a piece of
property.
For I would that all men were even as I myself. But every man hath his proper gift of God, one after this manner, and another after that.
I wish that all men were as I am. But each man has his own gift from God; one has this gift, another has that.
And this I speak for your own profit; not that I may cast a
snare upon you, but for that which is comely, and that ye may attend upon the Lord without distraction.
I am saying this for your own good, not to restrict you, but in order to promote
proper decorum and undivided devotion to the Lord.
Judge in
yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered?
Judge for
yourselves: Is it
proper for a woman to pray to God with her head uncovered?
For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.
Now if we judged ourselves properly, we would not come under judgment.
Let all things be done decently and in order.
But everything must be done in a proper and orderly manner.
But among you, as is
proper among the saints, there must not be even a
hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of
greed.
That ye may walk
honestly toward them that are without, and that ye may have lack of nothing.
Then you will
behave properly toward outsiders, without being dependent on
anyone.
And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time.
And you know what is now restraining him, so that he may be revealed at the proper time.
but with good deeds, as is
proper for women who
profess to worship God.
Wherefore, though I might be much bold in Christ to
enjoin thee that which is convenient,
So although in Christ I am bold enough to order you to do what is proper,
Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised.
By faith
Sarah, even though she was barren and beyond the
proper age, was enabled to conceive a child, because she considered Him faithful who had promised.
By faith Moses, when he was born, was
hid three months of his parents, because they saw he was a
proper child; and they were not afraid of the king’s commandment.
By faith Moses’ parents
hid him for three months after his birth, because they saw that he was a beautiful child, and they were unafraid of the king’s edict.
And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own
habitation, he hath reserved in
everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.
And the angels who did not stay within their own
domain but abandoned their
proper dwelling—these He has kept in eternal chains under darkness, bound for judgment on that great day.
Who in the time of Enemessar king of the Assyrians was led
captive out of Thisbe, which is at the right hand of that city, which is called
properly Nephthali in
Galilee above Aser.
For then the
blameless man made
haste, and stood forth to defend them; and bringing the shield of his
proper ministry, even prayer, and the
propitiation of incense, set himself against the wrath, and so brought the
calamity to an end, declaring that he was thy servant.
For the whole creature in his
proper kind was fashioned again
anew, serving the peculiar commandments that were given unto them, that thy children might be kept without
hurt:
