They have heard that I
sigh: there is none to comfort me: all mine enemies have heard of my trouble; they are
glad that thou hast done it: thou
wilt bring the day that thou hast called, and they shall be like unto me.
People have heard my
groaning, but there is no one to comfort me. All my enemies have heard of my trouble; they are
glad that You have caused it. May You bring the day You have
announced, so that they may become like me.
Let all their wickedness come before thee; and do unto them, as thou hast done unto me for all my transgressions: for my
sighs are many, and my heart is
faint.
Let all their wickedness come before You, and deal with them as You have dealt with me because of all my transgressions. For my groans are many, and my heart is
faint.
Moreover take thou unto thee an iron pan, and set it for a wall of iron between thee and the city: and set thy face against it, and it shall be besieged, and thou shalt lay siege against it. This shall be a sign to the house of Israel.
Then take an iron plate and set it up as an iron wall between
yourself and the city. Turn your face toward it so that it is under siege, and
besiege it. This will be a
sign to the house of Israel.
And thou shalt eat it as barley cakes, and thou shalt
bake it with dung that cometh out of man, in their
sight.
And you shall eat the food as you would a barley
cake, after you
bake it over dried human
excrement in the
sight of the people.”
That they may want bread and water, and be
astonied one with another, and
consume away for their iniquity.
So they will lack food and water; they will be
appalled at the
sight of one another wasting away in their iniquity.
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I, even I, am against thee, and will
execute judgments in the midst of thee in the
sight of the nations.
Therefore this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘Behold, I Myself am against you, Jerusalem, and I will
execute judgments among you in the
sight of the nations.
Moreover I will make thee waste, and a reproach among the nations that are round about thee, in the sight of all that pass by.
I will make you a ruin and a disgrace among the nations around you, in the sight of all who pass by.
And the LORD said unto him, Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark upon the foreheads of the men that
sigh and that cry for all the abominations that be done in the midst thereof.
“Go throughout the city of Jerusalem,” said the LORD, “and put a mark on the foreheads of the men
sighing and
groaning over all the abominations committed there.”
And he spake unto the man clothed with linen, and said, Go in between the wheels, even under the
cherub, and fill thine hand with coals of fire from between the cherubims, and
scatter them over the city. And he went in in my
sight.
And the LORD said to the man clothed in linen, “Go inside the
wheelwork beneath the
cherubim. Fill your hands with burning coals from among the
cherubim and
scatter them over the city.” And as I watched, he went in.
And the cherubims lifted up their wings, and mounted up from the earth in my sight: when they went out, the wheels also were beside them, and every one stood at the door of the east gate of the LORD’S house; and the glory of the God of Israel was over them above.
As I watched, the
cherubim lifted their wings and rose up from the ground, with the wheels beside them as they went. And they stopped at the entrance of the east gate of the house of the LORD, with the glory of the God of Israel above them.
Therefore, thou son of man, prepare thee stuff for removing, and remove by day in their
sight; and thou shalt remove from thy place to another place in their
sight: it may be they will consider, though they be a
rebellious house.
Therefore, son of man,
pack your bags for exile. In broad
daylight, set out from your place and go to another as they watch. Perhaps they will understand, though they are a
rebellious house.
Then shalt thou bring forth thy stuff by day in their sight, as stuff for removing: and thou shalt go forth at even in their sight, as they that go forth into captivity.
Bring out your
baggage for exile by day, as they watch. Then in the evening, as they watch, go out like those who go into exile.
Dig thou through the wall in their
sight, and carry out thereby.
As they watch,
dig through the wall and carry your belongings out through it.
In their
sight shalt thou bear it upon thy shoulders, and carry it forth in the
twilight: thou shalt cover thy face, that thou see not the ground: for I have set thee for a
sign unto the house of Israel.
And as they watch, lift your bags to your shoulder and take them out at
dusk; cover your face so that you cannot see the land. For I have made you a
sign to the house of Israel.”
And I did so as I was commanded: I brought forth my stuff by day, as stuff for captivity, and in the even I
digged through the wall with mine hand; I brought it forth in the
twilight, and I bare it upon my shoulder in their
sight.
So I did as I was commanded. I brought out my bags for exile by day, and in the evening I
dug through the wall by hand. I took my belongings out at
dusk, carrying them on my shoulder as they watched.
Say, I am your sign: like as I have done, so shall it be done unto them: they shall remove and go into captivity.
You are to say, ‘I am a
sign to you.’ Just as it happened here, so will it be done to them; they will go into exile as
captives.
And I will set my face against that man, and will make him a
sign and a
proverb, and I will cut him off from the midst of my people; and ye shall know that I am the LORD.
I will set My face against that man and make him a
sign and a
proverb; I will cut him off from among My people. Then you will know that I am the LORD.
And they shall burn thine houses with fire, and
execute judgments upon thee in the
sight of many women: and I will cause thee to cease from playing the
harlot, and thou also shalt give no
hire any more.
Then they will burn down your houses and
execute judgment against you in the
sight of many women. I will put an end to your
prostitution, and you will never again pay your lovers.
But I wrought for my name’s sake, that it should not be
polluted before the heathen, among whom they were, in whose
sight I made myself known unto them, in bringing them forth out of the land of Egypt.
But I acted for the sake of My name, that it should not be
profaned in the eyes of the nations among whom they were living, in whose
sight I had revealed Myself to Israel by bringing them out of the land of Egypt.
Moreover also I gave them my sabbaths, to be a
sign between me and them, that they might know that I am the LORD that
sanctify them.
I also gave them My Sabbaths as a sign between us, so that they would know that I am the LORD who sanctifies them.
But I wrought for my name’s sake, that it should not be
polluted before the heathen, in whose
sight I brought them out.
But I acted for the sake of My name, so that it would not be
profaned in the eyes of the nations in whose
sight I had brought them out.
And
hallow my sabbaths; and they shall be a
sign between me and you, that ye may know that I am the LORD your God.
Keep My Sabbaths holy, that they may be a sign between us, so that you may know that I am the LORD your God.’
Nevertheless I withdrew mine hand, and wrought for my name’s sake, that it should not be
polluted in the
sight of the heathen, in whose
sight I brought them forth.
But I
withheld My hand and acted for the sake of My name, so that it would not be
profaned in the eyes of the nations in whose
sight I had brought them out.
I will accept you with your sweet savour, when I bring you out from the people, and gather you out of the countries wherein ye have been scattered; and I will be
sanctified in you before the heathen.
When I bring you from the peoples and gather you from the lands to which you have been scattered, I will accept you as a pleasing
aroma. And I will show My
holiness through you in the
sight of the nations.
And there shall ye remember your ways, and all your doings, wherein ye have been
defiled; and ye shall
lothe yourselves in your own
sight for all your evils that ye have committed.
Sigh therefore, thou son of man, with the breaking of thy loins; and with bitterness
sigh before their eyes.
But you, son of man,
groan!
Groan before their eyes with a broken heart and bitter grief.
And it shall be, when they say unto thee, Wherefore
sighest thou? that thou shalt answer, For the
tidings; because it cometh: and every heart shall
melt, and all hands shall be feeble, and every spirit shall
faint, and all knees shall be weak as water: behold, it cometh, and shall be brought to pass, saith the Lord GOD.
And when they ask, ‘Why are you
groaning?’ you are to say, ‘Because of the news that is coming. Every heart will
melt, and every hand will go
limp. Every spirit will
faint, and every
knee will turn to water.’
Yes, it is coming and it will surely happen, declares the Lord GOD.”
Also, thou son of man,
appoint thee two ways, that the sword of the king of Babylon may come: both
twain shall come forth out of one land: and choose thou a place, choose it at the head of the way to the city.
“Now you, son of man, mark out two roads for the sword of the king of Babylon to take, both starting from the same land. And make a
signpost where the road branches off to each city.
And it shall be unto them as a false
divination in their
sight, to them that have
sworn oaths: but he will call to
remembrance the iniquity, that they may be taken.
It will seem like a false
omen to the eyes of those who have
sworn allegiance to him, but it will draw attention to their guilt and take them
captive.
And thou shalt take thine inheritance in
thyself in the
sight of the heathen, and thou shalt know that I am the LORD.
And when you have
defiled yourself in the eyes of the nations, then you will know that I am the LORD.’”
And as soon as she saw them with her eyes, she
doted upon them, and sent messengers unto them into
Chaldea.
At the
sight of them, she
lusted for them and sent messengers to them in
Chaldea.
Thus
Ezekiel is unto you a
sign: according to all that he hath done shall ye do: and when this cometh, ye shall know that I am the Lord GOD.
‘Thus
Ezekiel will be a
sign for you; you will do everything that he has done. When this happens, you will know that I am the Lord GOD.’
In that day shall thy mouth be opened to him which is escaped, and thou shalt speak, and be no more
dumb: and thou shalt be a
sign unto them; and they shall know that I am the LORD.
On that day your mouth will be opened to him who has escaped; you will speak and no longer be
mute. So you will be a
sign to them, and they will know that I am the LORD.”
Thou hast
defiled thy
sanctuaries by the multitude of thine
iniquities, by the iniquity of thy
traffick; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall
devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the
sight of all them that behold thee.
By the multitude of your
iniquities and the
dishonesty of your trading you have
profaned your
sanctuaries. So I made fire come from within you, and it consumed you. I reduced you to ashes on the ground in the eyes of all who saw you.
Thus saith the Lord GOD; When I shall have gathered the house of Israel from the people among whom they are scattered, and shall be
sanctified in them in the
sight of the heathen, then shall they dwell in their land that I have given to my servant Jacob.
This is what the Lord GOD says: ‘When I gather the house of Israel from the peoples among whom they have been scattered, I will show Myself holy among them in the sight of the nations. Then they will dwell in their own land, which I have given to My servant Jacob.
Then shall ye remember your own evil ways, and your doings that were not good, and shall
lothe yourselves in your own
sight for your
iniquities and for your abominations.
And the
desolate land shall be tilled, whereas it lay
desolate in the
sight of all that passed by.
The
desolate land will be cultivated instead of lying
desolate in the
sight of all who pass through.
Thus will I
magnify myself, and
sanctify myself; and I will be known in the eyes of many nations, and they shall know that I am the LORD.
I will
magnify and
sanctify Myself, and will
reveal Myself in the
sight of many nations. Then they will know that I am the LORD.
And the passengers that pass through the land, when any
seeth a man’s bone, then shall he set up a
sign by it, till the buriers have buried it in the valley of
Hamon-
gog.
As they pass through the land,
anyone who sees a human bone will set up a
pillar next to it, until the gravediggers have buried it in the Valley of
Hamon-
gog.
When I have brought them again from the people, and gathered them out of their enemies’ lands, and am
sanctified in them in the
sight of many nations;
When I bring them back from the peoples and gather them out of the lands of their enemies, I will show My
holiness in them in the
sight of many nations.
And if they be
ashamed of all that they have done,
shew them the form of the house, and the fashion thereof, and the goings out thereof, and the comings in thereof, and all the forms thereof, and all the ordinances thereof, and all the forms thereof, and all the laws thereof: and write it in their
sight, that they may keep the whole form thereof, and all the ordinances thereof, and do them.
and if they are
ashamed of all they have done, then make known to them the design of the temple—its arrangement and its exits and entrances—its whole design along with all its statutes, forms, and laws. Write it down in their
sight, so that they may keep its complete design and all its statutes and may carry them out.
I thought it good to
shew the
signs and wonders that the high God hath wrought toward me.
I am pleased to declare the signs and wonders that the Most High God has performed for me.
How great are his
signs! and how mighty are his wonders! his kingdom is an
everlasting kingdom, and his dominion is from generation to generation.
How great are His signs, how mighty His wonders! His kingdom is an eternal kingdom; His dominion endures from generation to generation.
The tree grew, and was strong, and the height thereof reached unto heaven, and the sight thereof to the end of all the earth:
The tree grew large and strong; its top reached the sky, and it was visible to the ends of the earth.
The tree that thou sawest, which grew, and was strong, whose height reached unto the heaven, and the sight thereof to all the earth;
The tree you saw that grew large and strong, whose top reached the sky and was visible to all the earth,
Now, O king, establish the decree, and sign the writing, that it be not changed, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not.
Therefore, O king, establish the decree and
sign the document so that it cannot be changed—in accordance with the law of the Medes and Persians, which cannot be
repealed.”
Wherefore king
Darius signed the writing and the decree.
Therefore King
Darius signed the written decree.
Now when Daniel knew that the writing was
signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he
kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave
thanks before his God, as he did
aforetime.
Now when Daniel learned that the document had been
signed, he went into his house, where the windows of his upper room opened toward Jerusalem, and three times a day he got down on his knees, prayed, and gave
thanks to his God, just as he had done before.
Then they came near, and spake before the king concerning the king’s decree; Hast thou not signed a decree, that every man that shall ask a petition of any God or man within thirty days, save of thee, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions? The king answered and said, The thing is true, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not.
So they approached the king and asked about his royal decree: “Did you not
sign a decree that for thirty days any man who petitions any god or man except you, O king, will be thrown into the den of lions?” The king replied, “According to the law of the Medes and Persians the order stands, and it cannot be
repealed.”
Then answered they and said before the king, That Daniel, which is of the children of the captivity of Judah, regardeth not thee, O king, nor the decree that thou hast signed, but maketh his petition three times a day.
Then they told the king, “Daniel, one of the exiles from Judah, shows no regard for you, O king, or for the decree that you have signed. He still makes his petition three times a day.”
And a stone was brought and laid upon the mouth of the den; and the king sealed it with his own
signet, and with the
signet of his lords; that the purpose might not be changed concerning Daniel.
A stone was brought and placed over the mouth of the den, and the king sealed it with his own
signet ring and with the rings of his nobles, so that nothing concerning Daniel could be changed.
My God hath sent his angel, and hath shut the lions mouths, that they have not
hurt me:
forasmuch as before him
innocency was found in me; and also before thee, O king, have I done no
hurt.
My God sent His angel and shut the mouths of the lions. They have not
hurt me, for I was found innocent in His
sight, and I have done no wrong against you, O king.”
He delivereth and rescueth, and he worketh signs and wonders in heaven and in earth, who hath delivered Daniel from the power of the lions.
He delivers and rescues; He performs
signs and wonders in the heavens and on the earth, for He has
rescued Daniel from the power of the lions.”
Plead with your mother,
plead: for she is not my wife, neither am I her husband: let her therefore put away her whoredoms out of her
sight, and her
adulteries from between her breasts;
Rebuke your mother,
rebuke her, for she is not My wife, and I am not her husband. Let her remove the
adultery from her face and the unfaithfulness from between her breasts.
And now will I discover her
lewdness in the
sight of her lovers, and none shall deliver her out of mine hand.
And then I will
expose her
lewdness in the
sight of her lovers, and no one will deliver her out of My hands.
After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight.
After two days He will revive us; on the third day He will raise us up, that we may live in His presence.
And though they hide themselves in the top of
Carmel, I will search and take them out thence; and though they be
hid from my
sight in the bottom of the sea, thence will I command the serpent, and he shall
bite them:
Though they hide themselves
atop Carmel, there I will
track them and seize them; and though they hide from Me at the bottom of the sea, there I will command the serpent to
bite them.
Then I said, I am cast out of thy sight; yet I will look again toward thy holy temple.
At this, I said, ‘I have been banished from Your sight; yet I will look once more toward Your holy temple.’
In that day, saith the LORD of hosts, will I take thee, O
Zerubbabel, my servant, the son of Shealtiel, saith the LORD, and will make thee as a
signet: for I have chosen thee, saith the LORD of hosts.
On that day, declares the LORD of Hosts, I will take you, My servant,
Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, declares the LORD, and I will make you like My
signet ring, for I have chosen you, declares the LORD of Hosts.”
Hear now, O Joshua the high priest, thou, and thy fellows that sit before thee: for they are men wondered at: for, behold, I will bring forth my servant the BRANCH.
Hear now, O high priest Joshua, you and your companions seated before you, who are indeed a sign. For behold, I am going to bring My servant, the Branch.
Ye have
wearied the LORD with your words. Yet ye say, Wherein have we
wearied him? When ye say, Every one that doeth evil is good in the
sight of the LORD, and he delighteth in them; or, Where is the God of judgment?
You have
wearied the LORD with your words; yet you ask, “How have we
wearied Him?” By saying, “All who do evil are good in the
sight of the LORD, and in them He delights,” or, “Where is the God of justice?”
The blind receive their
sight, and the
lame walk, the lepers are
cleansed, and the
deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them.
The blind receive
sight, the
lame walk, the lepers are
cleansed, the
deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is preached to the poor.
Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in thy sight.
Yes, Father, for this was well-pleasing in Your
sight.
Then certain of the
scribes and of the
Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a
sign from thee.
Then some of the
scribes and
Pharisees said to Him, “Teacher, we want to see a
sign from You.”
But he answered and said unto them, An evil and
adulterous generation seeketh after a
sign; and there shall no
sign be given to it, but the
sign of the prophet
Jonas:
Jesus replied, “A wicked and
adulterous generation demands a
sign, but none will be given it except the
sign of the prophet
Jonah.
Then the
Pharisees and
Sadducees came and tested Jesus by asking Him to show them a
sign from heaven.
And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowring. O ye hypocrites, ye can
discern the face of the sky; but can ye not
discern the
signs of the times?
and in the morning, ‘
Today it will be
stormy, for the sky is red and overcast.’ You know how to
interpret the appearance of the sky, but not the
signs of the times.
A wicked and
adulterous generation seeketh after a
sign; and there shall no
sign be given unto it, but the
sign of the prophet
Jonas. And he left them, and departed.
A wicked and
adulterous generation demands a
sign, but none will be given it except the
sign of
Jonah.” Then He left them and went away.
So Jesus had
compassion on them, and touched their eyes: and immediately their eyes received
sight, and they followed him.
Moved with
compassion, Jesus touched their eyes, and at once they received their
sight and followed Him.
And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?
While Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately. “Tell us,” they said, “when will these things happen, and what will be the sign of Your coming and of the end of the age?”
For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall
shew great
signs and wonders;
insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall
deceive the very
elect.
For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great
signs and wonders that would
deceive even the
elect, if that were possible.
And then shall appear the
sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth
mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
At that time the
sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and all the tribes of the earth will
mourn. They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory.
Now the
betrayer had arranged a
signal with them: “The One I
kiss is the man; arrest Him.”
And looking up to heaven, he
sighed, and saith unto him, Ephphatha, that is, Be opened.
And looking up to heaven, He
sighed deeply and said to him, “Ephphatha!” (which means, “Be opened!”).
And the
Pharisees came forth, and began to question with him, seeking of him a
sign from heaven,
tempting him.
Then the
Pharisees came and began to
argue with Jesus, testing Him by demanding from Him a
sign from heaven.
And he
sighed deeply in his spirit, and saith, Why
doth this generation seek after a
sign?
verily I say unto you, There shall no
sign be given unto this generation.
Jesus
sighed deeply in His spirit and said, “Why does this generation demand a
sign? Truly I tell you, no
sign will be given to this generation.”
After that he put his hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up: and he was restored, and saw every man clearly.
Once again Jesus placed His hands on the man’s eyes, and when he opened them his sight was restored, and he could see everything clearly.
And Jesus answered and said unto him, What
wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my
sight.
“What do you want Me to do for you?” Jesus asked. “Rabboni,” said the blind man, “let me see again.”
And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.
“Go,” said Jesus, “your faith has
healed you.” And immediately he received his
sight and followed Jesus along the road.
Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign when all these things shall be fulfilled?
“Tell us, when will these things happen? And what will be the sign that they are about to be fulfilled?”
For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall
shew signs and wonders, to
seduce, if it were possible, even the
elect.
For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform
signs and wonders that would
deceive even the
elect, if that were possible.
Now the
betrayer had arranged a
signal with them: “The One I
kiss is the man; arrest Him and lead Him away securely.”
And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
And these
signs will
accompany those who believe: In My name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues;
And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and
confirming the word with
signs following.
Amen.
And they went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked through them,
confirming His word by the
signs that accompanied it.
And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord
blameless.
Both of them were righteous in the
sight of God, walking
blamelessly in all the commandments and decrees of the Lord.
For he shall be great in the
sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother’s
womb.
for he will be great in the
sight of the Lord. He shall never take wine or strong drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit even from his mother’s
womb.
And when he came out, he could not speak unto them: and they perceived that he had seen a vision in the temple: for he
beckoned unto them, and remained speechless.
When he came out and was unable to speak to them, they realized he had seen a vision in the temple. He kept making signs to them but remained speechless.
And they made signs to his father, how he would have him called.
So they made signs to his father to find out what he wanted to name the child.
Which thou hast prepared before the face of all people;
which You have prepared in the sight of all people,
And
Simeon blessed them, and said unto Mary his mother, Behold, this child is set for the fall and rising again of many in Israel; and for a
sign which shall be spoken against;
Then
Simeon blessed them and said to His mother Mary: “Behold, this Child is appointed to cause the rise and fall of many in Israel, and to be a
sign that will be spoken against,
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath
anointed me to
preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to
heal the brokenhearted, to
preach deliverance to the
captives, and recovering of
sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are
bruised,
“The Spirit of the Lord is on Me, because He has
anointed Me to
preach good news to the poor. He has sent Me to
proclaim liberty to the
captives and recovery of
sight to the blind, to release the
oppressed,
And they
beckoned unto their partners, which were in the other ship, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the ships, so that they began to sink.
So they signaled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them, and they came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink.
And in that same hour he cured many of their
infirmities and plagues, and of evil spirits; and unto many that were blind he gave
sight.
At that very hour Jesus
healed many people of their diseases, afflictions, and evil spirits, and He gave
sight to many who were blind.
Then Jesus answering said unto them, Go your way, and tell John what things ye have seen and heard; how that the blind see, the
lame walk, the lepers are
cleansed, the
deaf hear, the dead are raised, to the poor the gospel is preached.
So He replied, “Go back and report to John what you have seen and heard: The blind receive
sight, the
lame walk, the lepers are
cleansed, the
deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is preached to the poor.
In that hour Jesus
rejoiced in spirit, and said, I
thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast
hid these things from the wise and
prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes: even so, Father; for so it seemed good in thy
sight.
At that time Jesus
rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and declared, “I praise You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because You have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children.
Yes, Father, for this was well-pleasing in Your
sight.
And others,
tempting him, sought of him a
sign from heaven.
And others tested Him by demanding a sign from heaven.
And when the people were gathered thick together, he began to say, This is an evil generation: they seek a
sign; and there shall no
sign be given it, but the
sign of
Jonas the prophet.
As the crowds were increasing, Jesus said, “This is a wicked generation. It demands a
sign, but none will be given it except the
sign of
Jonah.
For as
Jonas was a
sign unto the Ninevites, so shall also the Son of man be to this generation.
For as
Jonah was a
sign to the Ninevites, so the Son of Man will be a
sign to this generation.
And the son said unto him, Father, I have
sinned against heaven, and in thy
sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son.
The son declared, ‘Father, I have
sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’
