And he said unto them, Ye are they which
justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is
abomination in the
sight of God.
So He said to them, “You are the ones who
justify yourselves before men, but God knows your hearts. For what is prized among men is
detestable before God.
And when he was demanded of the
Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation:
When asked by the
Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, Jesus replied, “The kingdom of God will not come with observable
signs.
Saying, What
wilt thou that I shall do unto thee? And he said, Lord, that I may receive my
sight.
“What do you want Me to do for you?” “Lord,” he said, “let me see again.”
And Jesus said unto him, Receive thy sight: thy faith hath saved thee.
“Receive your
sight!” Jesus replied. “Your faith has
healed you.”
And immediately he received his
sight, and followed him,
glorifying God: and all the people, when they saw it, gave praise unto God.
Immediately he received his
sight and followed Jesus,
glorifying God. And all the people who saw this gave praise to God.
And they asked him, saying, Master, but when shall these things be? and what sign will there be when these things shall come to pass?
“Teacher,” they asked, “when will these things happen? And what will be the sign that they are about to take place?”
And great earthquakes shall be in
divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful
sights and great
signs shall there be from heaven.
There will be great earthquakes, famines, and pestilences in various places, along with fearful sights and great signs from heaven.
And there shall be
signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with
perplexity; the sea and the waves
roaring;
There will be
signs in the sun and moon and stars, and on the earth dismay among the nations,
bewildered by the
roaring of the sea and the
surging of the waves.
And all the people that came together to that
sight, beholding the things which were done,
smote their breasts, and returned.
And when all the people who had gathered for this
spectacle saw what had happened, they returned home beating their breasts.
And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he
vanished out of their
sight.
Then their eyes were opened and they recognized Jesus—and He disappeared from their sight.
This beginning of miracles did Jesus in
Cana of
Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.
Jesus performed this, the first of His
signs, at
Cana in
Galilee. He thus revealed His glory, and His disciples believed in Him.
Then answered the Jews and said unto him, What sign shewest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things?
On account of this, the Jews demanded, “What sign can You show us to prove Your authority to do these things?”
Now when he was in Jerusalem at the
passover, in the feast day, many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did.
While He was in Jerusalem at the
Passover Feast, many people saw the
signs He was doing and believed in His name.
The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him,
Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.
He came to Jesus at night and said, “
Rabbi, we know that You are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the
signs You are doing if God were not with him.”
Then said Jesus unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe.
Jesus said to him, “Unless you people see signs and wonders, you will never believe.”
This is again the second
miracle that Jesus did, when he was come out of Judaea into
Galilee.
This was now the second
sign that Jesus performed after coming from
Judea into
Galilee.
And a great multitude followed him, because they saw his miracles which he did on them that were diseased.
A large crowd followed Him because they saw the signs He was performing on the sick.
Then those men, when they had seen the
miracle that Jesus did, said, This is of a truth that prophet that should come into the world.
When the people saw the sign that Jesus had performed, they began to say, “Truly this is the Prophet who is to come into the world.”
Jesus answered them and said,
Verily,
verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the
loaves, and were filled.
Jesus replied, “Truly, truly, I tell you, it is not because you saw these
signs that you are looking for Me, but because you
ate the
loaves and had your fill.
They said therefore unto him, What
sign shewest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? what
dost thou work?
So they asked Him, “What sign then will You perform, so that we may see it and believe You? What will You do?
And many of the people believed on him, and said, When Christ cometh, will he do more miracles than these which this man hath done?
Many in the crowd, however, believed in Him and said, “When the Christ comes, will He perform more signs than this man?”
He answered and said, A man that is called Jesus made clay, and
anointed mine eyes, and said unto me, Go to the
pool of Siloam, and wash: and I went and washed, and I received
sight.
He answered, “The man they call Jesus made some mud and
anointed my eyes, and He told me to go to Siloam and wash. So I went and washed and received my
sight.”
Then again the
Pharisees also asked him how he had received his
sight. He said unto them, He put clay upon mine eyes, and I washed, and do see.
So the
Pharisees also asked him how he had received his
sight. The man answered, “He put mud on my eyes, and I washed, and now I can see.”
Therefore said some of the
Pharisees, This man is not of God, because he keepeth not the sabbath day. Others said, How can a man that is a
sinner do such miracles? And there was a division among them.
Because of this, some of the
Pharisees said, “This man is not from God, for He does not keep the Sabbath.” But others said, “How can a sinful man perform such
signs?” And there was division among them.
But the Jews did not believe concerning him, that he had been blind, and received his sight, until they called the parents of him that had received his sight.
The Jews still did not believe that the man had been blind and had received his sight until they summoned his parents
And many resorted unto him, and said, John did no
miracle: but all things that John spake of this man were true.
Many came to Him and said, “Although John never performed a sign, everything he said about this man was true.”
Then gathered the chief priests and the
Pharisees a council, and said, What do we? for this man doeth many miracles.
For this cause the people also met him, for that they heard that he had done this
miracle.
That is also why the crowd went out to meet Him, because they heard that He had performed this sign.
This he said,
signifying what death he should die.
He said this to indicate the kind of death He was going to die.
But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him:
Although Jesus had performed so many signs in their presence, they still did not believe in Him.
That the saying of Jesus might be fulfilled, which he spake,
signifying what death he should die.
This was to
fulfill the word that Jesus had spoken to indicate the kind of death He was going to die.
This title then read many of the Jews: for the place where Jesus was
crucified was
nigh to the city: and it was written in Hebrew, and Greek, and Latin.
Many of the Jews read this
sign, because the place where Jesus was
crucified was near the city, and it was written in Hebrew, Latin, and Greek.
And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book:
Jesus performed many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book.
This spake he,
signifying by what death he should
glorify God. And when he had spoken this, he saith unto him, Follow me.
Jesus said this to indicate the kind of death by which Peter would
glorify God. And after He had said this, He told him, “Follow Me.”
And when he had spoken these things, while they
beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their
sight.
After He had said this, they watched as He was taken up, and a cloud
hid Him from their
sight.
And I will
shew wonders in heaven above, and
signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke:
I will show wonders in the heavens above and signs on the earth below, blood and fire and billows of smoke.
Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of
Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and
signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye
yourselves also know:
Men of Israel,
listen to this message: Jesus of
Nazareth was a man
certified by God to you by miracles, wonders, and
signs, which God did among you through Him, as you
yourselves know.
And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles.
A sense of
awe came over
everyone, and the apostles performed many wonders and
signs.
But Peter and John answered and said unto them, Whether it be right in the
sight of God to
hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye.
But Peter and John replied, “Judge for
yourselves whether it is right in God’s
sight to
listen to you rather than God.
By stretching forth thine hand to
heal; and that
signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus.
as You stretch out Your hand to
heal and perform
signs and wonders through the name of Your holy servant Jesus.”
And by the hands of the apostles were many
signs and wonders wrought among the people; (and they were all with one
accord in Solomon’s
porch.
The apostles performed many
signs and wonders among the people, and with one
accord the believers gathered together in Solomon’s
Colonnade.
And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people.
Now Stephen, who was full of grace and power, was performing great wonders and signs among the people.
And delivered him out of all his afflictions, and gave him favour and wisdom in the sight of Pharaoh king of Egypt; and he made him governor over Egypt and all his house.
and
rescued him from all his troubles. He granted Joseph favor and wisdom in the
sight of Pharaoh king of Egypt, who appointed him ruler over Egypt and all his household.
In which time Moses was born, and was exceeding fair, and
nourished up in his father’s house three months:
At that time Moses was born, and he was beautiful in the
sight of God. For three months he was
nurtured in his father’s house.
When Moses saw it, he wondered at the sight: and as he drew near to behold it, the voice of the Lord came unto him,
When Moses saw it, he
marveled at the
sight. As he approached to look more closely, the voice of the Lord came to him:
He brought them out, after that he had shewed wonders and signs in the land of Egypt, and in the Red sea, and in the wilderness forty years.
He led them out and performed wonders and signs in the land of Egypt, at the Red Sea, and for forty years in the wilderness.
Who found favour before God, and desired to find a tabernacle for the God of Jacob.
who found favor in the sight of God and asked to provide a dwelling place for the God of Jacob.
And the people with one
accord gave
heed unto those things which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did.
The crowds gave their undivided attention to Philip’s message and to the signs they saw him perform.
Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was
baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and
signs which were done.
Even Simon himself believed and was
baptized. He followed Philip closely and was
astounded by the great
signs and miracles he observed.
Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right in the sight of God.
You have no part or share in our ministry, because your heart is not right before God.
And he was three days without sight, and neither did eat nor drink.
For three days he was without sight, and he did not eat or drink anything.
And hath seen in a vision a man named
Ananias coming in, and putting his hand on him, that he might receive his
sight.
In a vision he has seen a man named
Ananias come and place his hands on him to restore his
sight.”
And
Ananias went his way, and entered into the house; and putting his hands on him said, Brother Saul, the Lord, even Jesus, that appeared unto thee in the way as thou camest, hath sent me, that thou mightest receive thy
sight, and be filled with the Holy Ghost.
So
Ananias went to the house, and when he arrived, he placed his hands on Saul. “Brother Saul,” he said, “the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you were coming here, has sent me so that you may see again and be filled with the Holy Spirit.”
And immediately there fell from his eyes as it had been scales: and he received
sight forthwith, and arose, and was
baptized.
At that instant, something like scales fell from Saul’s eyes, and his
sight was restored. He got up and was
baptized,
and said, ‘
Cornelius, your prayer has been heard, and your gifts to the poor have been remembered before God.
And there stood up one of them named
Agabus, and
signified by the spirit that there should be great
dearth throughout all the world: which came to pass in the days of
Claudius Caesar.
One of them named
Agabus stood up and
predicted through the Spirit that a great famine would
sweep across the whole world. (This happened under
Claudius.)
Long time therefore abode they speaking boldly in the Lord, which gave testimony unto the word of his grace, and granted signs and wonders to be done by their hands.
So Paul and
Barnabas spent considerable time there, speaking boldly for the Lord, who
affirmed the message of His grace by enabling them to perform
signs and wonders.
Then all the multitude kept silence, and gave
audience to
Barnabas and Paul, declaring what miracles and wonders God had wrought among the Gentiles by them.
The whole assembly fell silent as they
listened to
Barnabas and Paul describing the
signs and wonders God had done among the Gentiles through them.
Now when we had discovered
Cyprus, we left it on the left hand, and sailed into Syria, and landed at Tyre: for there the ship was to
unlade her burden.
After
sighting Cyprus and passing south of it, we sailed on to Syria and landed at Tyre, where the ship was to unload its
cargo.
Then Paul took the men, and the next day
purifying himself with them entered into the temple, to
signify the
accomplishment of the days of
purification, until that an offering should be offered for every one of them.
So the next day Paul took the men and
purified himself along with them. Then he entered the temple to give notice of the date when their
purification would be complete and the offering would be made for each of them.
Came unto me, and stood, and said unto me, Brother Saul, receive thy sight. And the same hour I looked up upon him.
came and stood beside me. ‘Brother Saul,’ he said, ‘receive your sight.’ And at that moment I could see him.
Now therefore ye with the council
signify to the chief captain that he bring him down unto you to
morrow, as though ye would
enquire something more perfectly concerning him: and we, or ever he come near, are ready to kill him.
Now then, you and the
Sanhedrin petition the commander to bring him down to you on the pretext of examining his case more carefully. We are ready to kill him on the way.”
For it seemeth to me unreasonable to send a prisoner, and not
withal to
signify the crimes laid against him.
For it seems unreasonable to me to send on a prisoner without
specifying the charges against him.”
And when it was day, they knew not the land: but they discovered a certain
creek with a shore, into the which they were minded, if it were possible, to thrust in the ship.
When
daylight came, they did not recognize the land, but they
sighted a bay with a sandy
beach, where they decided to run the ship
aground if they could.
And after three months we departed in a ship of Alexandria, which had wintered in the isle, whose
sign was
Castor and
Pollux.
After three months we set sail in an
Alexandrian ship that had wintered in the island. It had the
Twin Brothers as a
figurehead.
Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
Therefore no one will be justified in His sight by works of the law. For the law merely brings awareness of sin.
And he received the
sign of
circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had yet being
uncircumcised: that he might be the father of all them that believe, though they be not
circumcised; that righteousness might be imputed unto them also:
And he received the
sign of
circumcision as a seal of the righteousness that he had by faith while he was still
uncircumcised. So then, he is the father of all who believe but are not
circumcised, in order that righteousness might be credited to them.
Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things
honest in the
sight of all men.
Do not repay
anyone evil for evil. Carefully consider what is right in the eyes of
everybody.
Through mighty
signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God; so that from Jerusalem, and round about unto
Illyricum, I have fully preached the gospel of Christ.
by the power of
signs and wonders, and by the power of the Spirit of God. So from Jerusalem all the way around to
Illyricum, I have fully proclaimed the gospel of Christ.
For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:
Jews demand signs and Greeks search for wisdom,
For the wisdom of this world is
foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own
craftiness.
For the wisdom of this world is
foolishness in God’s
sight. As it is written: “He catches the wise in their
craftiness.”
For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels.
For this reason a woman ought to have a sign of authority on her head, because of the angels.
There are, it may be, so many kinds of voices in the world, and none of them is without signification.
Assuredly, there are many different languages in the world, yet none of them is without meaning.
Wherefore tongues are for a
sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not: but
prophesying serveth not for them that believe not, but for them which believe.
Tongues, then, are a sign, not for believers, but for unbelievers. Prophecy, however, is for believers, not for unbelievers.
For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of
sincerity, but as of God, in the
sight of God speak we in Christ.
For we are not like so many others, who
peddle the word of God for profit. On the contrary, in Christ we speak before God with
sincerity, as men sent from God.
Instead, we have
renounced secret and shameful ways. We do not practice
deceit, nor do we
distort the word of God. On the contrary, by open
proclamation of the truth, we
commend ourselves to every man’s conscience in the
sight of God.
(For we walk by faith, not by sight:)
For we walk by faith, not by sight.
Wherefore, though I wrote unto you, I did it not for his cause that had done the wrong, nor for his cause that suffered wrong, but that our care for you in the sight of God might appear unto you.
So even though I wrote to you, it was not on account of the one who did wrong or the one who was
harmed, but rather that your earnestness on our behalf would be made clear to you in the
sight of God.
Providing for
honest things, not only in the
sight of the Lord, but also in the
sight of men.
For we are taking great care to do what is right, not only in the eyes of the Lord, but also in the eyes of men.
Truly the
signs of an apostle were wrought among you in all
patience, in
signs, and wonders, and mighty deeds.
The true marks of an apostle—
signs, wonders, and miracles—were performed among you with great
perseverance.
But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.
Now it is clear that no one is justified before God by the law, because, “The righteous will live by faith.”
without being
frightened in any way by those who
oppose you. This is a clear
sign of their destruction but of your salvation, and it is from God.
In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:
Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labour of love, and
patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the
sight of God and our Father;
and continually recalling before our God and Father your work of faith, your labor of love, and your
enduring hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.
Even him, whose coming is after the working of
Satan with all power and
signs and lying wonders,
The coming of the lawless one will be accompanied by the working of
Satan, with every kind of power,
sign, and false wonder,
For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
This is good and pleasing in the
sight of God our
Savior,
But if any widow have children or nephews, let them learn first to
shew piety at home, and to requite their parents: for that is good and acceptable before God.
But if a widow has children or grandchildren, they must first learn to show
godliness to their own family and repay their parents, for this is pleasing in the
sight of God.
I give thee charge in the
sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius
Pilate witnessed a good confession;
I charge you in the presence of God, who gives life to all things, and of Christ Jesus, who made the good confession in His testimony before Pontius
Pilate:
God also bearing them witness, both with
signs and wonders, and with
divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?
and was
affirmed by God through
signs, wonders, various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to His will.
Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.
Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight; everything is uncovered and exposed before the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.
The Holy Ghost this
signifying, that the way into the holiest of all was not yet made manifest, while as the first tabernacle was yet standing:
By this arrangement the Holy Spirit was showing that the way into the Most Holy Place had not yet been disclosed as long as the first tabernacle was still standing.
And so terrible was the
sight, that Moses said, I exceedingly fear and
quake:)
And this word, Yet once more,
signifieth the removing of those things that are
shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be
shaken may remain.
The words “Once more”
signify the removal of what can be
shaken—that is, created things—so that the
unshakable may remain.
Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his
sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever.
Amen.
equip you with every good thing to do His will. And may He
accomplish in us what is pleasing in His
sight through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory
forever and ever.
Amen.
Humble
yourselves in the
sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.
Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did
signify, when it
testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.
trying to determine the time and setting to which the Spirit of Christ in them was pointing when He
predicted the sufferings of Christ and the glories to follow.
To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious,
As you come to Him, the living stone, rejected by men but chosen and precious in God’s sight,
But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a
meek and quiet spirit, which is in the
sight of God of great price.
but from the inner disposition of your heart, the
unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in God’s
sight.
Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be
diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and
blameless.
Therefore, beloved, as you
anticipate these things, make every effort to be found at peace—spotless and
blameless in His
sight.
And
whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his
sight.
and we will receive from Him whatever we ask, because we keep His commandments and do what is pleasing in His sight.
