woe unto me; and if I be righteous, yet will I not lift up my head. I am full of confusion; therefore see thou mine
affliction;

shame and aware of my
affliction.

shame? how long will ye love vanity, and seek after
leasing?

maligned? How long will you love vanity and seek after lies?
Selah Ye have shamed the counsel of the poor, because the LORD is his refuge.

shame; do not let my enemies

ashamed: deliver me in thy righteousness.
In You, O LORD, I have taken refuge; let me never be put to shame; save me by Your righteousness.
Let me not be
ashamed, O LORD; for I have called upon thee: let the wicked be
ashamed, and let them be silent in the grave.
O LORD, let me not be
ashamed, for I have called on You. Let the wicked be put to
shame; let them lie silent in
Sheol.
Let them be confounded and put to
shame that seek after my soul: let them be turned back and brought to confusion that

ashamed and brought to confusion together that

hurt: let them be clothed with
shame and dishonour that
magnify themselves against me.

shame that
hated us.

hate us to
shame.

But You have rejected and humbled us; You no longer go forth with our armies.
My confusion is continually before me, and the shame of my face hath covered me,

shame, because God hath
despised them.
There they are,
overwhelmed with
dread, where there was nothing to fear. For God has scattered the bones of those who besieged you. You put them to
shame, for God has
despised them.
Because for thy sake I have borne reproach; shame hath covered my face.
For I have
endured scorn for Your sake, and
shame has covered my face.
Thou hast known my reproach, and my
shame, and my dishonour: mine
adversaries are all before thee.
You know my reproach, my
shame and disgrace. All my
adversaries are before You.
Let them be turned back for a reward of their
shame that say,
Aha,
aha.
May those who say, “
Aha,
aha!” retreat because of their
shame.
In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust: let me never be put to confusion.
In You, O LORD, I have taken refuge; let me never be put to shame.
My tongue also shall talk of thy righteousness all the day long: for they are confounded, for they are brought unto
shame, that seek my
hurt.

proclaim Your righteousness all day long, for those who seek my
harm are disgraced and confounded.

shame.

shame.

graven images, that
boast themselves of idols: worship him, all ye gods.
All worshipers of images are put to
shame— those who
boast in idols. Worship Him, all you gods!
Though they
curse, You will
bless. When they rise up, they will be put to
shame, but Your servant will
rejoice.
Let mine
adversaries be clothed with
shame, and let them cover themselves with their own confusion, as with a
mantle.
May my accusers be clothed with disgrace; may they wear their
shame like a
robe.

ashamed.
May my heart be
blameless in Your statutes, that I may not be put to
shame.

quiver full of them: they shall not be
ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.

shame when he confronts the enemies at the gate.
Let them all be confounded and turned back that
hate Zion.

clothe with
shame: but upon himself shall his crown

gleam.”

Go not forth
hastily to
strive, lest thou know not what to do in the end thereof, when thy neighbour hath put thee to
shame.
do not bring
hastily to court. Otherwise, what will you do in the end when your
neighbor puts you to
shame?
Lest he that heareth it put thee to
shame, and thine
infamy turn not away.
lest the one who hears may disgrace you, and your
infamy never go away.

shameth his father.

And it shall come to pass, that instead of sweet smell there shall be
stink; and instead of a
girdle a rent; and instead of well set hair
baldness; and instead of a stomacher a
girding of
sackcloth; and burning instead of beauty.
Instead of
fragrance there will be a
stench; instead of a belt, a rope; instead of styled hair,
baldness; instead of fine clothing,
sackcloth; instead of beauty,
shame.
So shall the king of Assyria lead away the Egyptians prisoners, and the Ethiopians
captives, young and old, naked and
barefoot, even with their buttocks uncovered, to the
shame of Egypt.

captives of Egypt and the exiles of
Cush, young and old alike, naked and
barefoot, with bared buttocks—to Egypt’s
shame.
He will surely violently turn and
toss thee like a ball into a large country: there shalt thou die, and there the
chariots of thy glory shall be the
shame of thy lord’s house.

chariots will remain—a disgrace to the house of your master.

ashamed for their
envy at the people;

devour them.

shame. The fire set for Your enemies will
consume them!

ashamed of a people that could not profit them, nor be an help nor profit, but a
shame, and also a reproach.

shame because of a people useless to them. They cannot be of help; they are good for nothing but
shame and reproach.”
They shall be turned back, they shall be greatly
ashamed, that trust in
graven images, that say to the
molten images, Ye are our gods.
But those who trust in idols and say to
molten images, ‘You are our gods!’ will be turned back in utter
shame.
They that make a
graven image are all of them vanity; and their
delectable things shall not profit; and they are their own witnesses; they see not, nor know; that they may be
ashamed.

assemble and take their stand; they will all be brought to terror and
shame.

ashamed, and also confounded, all of them: they shall go to confusion together that are makers of idols.

shame and
humiliated; the makers of idols will depart together in disgrace.

shame.

shame shall be seen: I will take

spare no one.”
And kings shall be thy
nursing fathers, and their queens thy
nursing mothers: they shall bow down to thee with their face toward the earth, and
lick up the dust of thy feet; and thou shalt know that I am the LORD: for they shall not be
ashamed that wait for me.
Kings will be your
foster fathers, and their queens your
nursing mothers. They will bow to you facedown and
lick the dust at your feet. Then you will know that I am the LORD; those who hope in Me will never be put to
shame.”
I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that
plucked off the hair: I
hid not my face from
shame and
spitting.
I offered My back to those who struck Me, and My cheeks to those who
tore out My
beard. I did not hide My face from
scorn and
spittle.
For the Lord GOD will help me; therefore shall I not be confounded: therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be
ashamed.
Because the Lord GOD helps Me, I have not been disgraced; therefore I have set My face like flint, and I know that I will not be put to shame.
Fear not; for thou shalt not be
ashamed: neither be thou confounded; for thou shalt not be put to
shame: for thou shalt
forget the
shame of thy youth, and shalt not remember the reproach of thy
widowhood any more.
Do not be afraid, for you will not be put to
shame; do not be
intimidated, for you will not be
humiliated. For you will
forget the
shame of your youth and will remember no more the reproach of your
widowhood.

shame ye shall have double; and for confusion they shall
rejoice in their portion: therefore in their land they shall possess the double:
everlasting joy shall be unto them.
Instead of
shame, My people will have a double portion, and instead of
humiliation, they will
rejoice in their share; and so they will
inherit a double portion in their land, and
everlasting joy will be theirs.

hungry: behold, my servants shall drink, but ye shall be
thirsty: behold, my servants shall
rejoice, but ye shall be
ashamed:

hungry; My servants will drink, but you will go
thirsty; My servants will
rejoice, but you will be put to
shame.
Hear the word of the LORD, ye that
tremble at his word; your brethren that
hated you, that cast you out for my name’s sake, said, Let the LORD be
glorified: but he shall appear to your joy, and they shall be
ashamed.
You who
tremble at His word, hear the word of the LORD: “Your brothers who
hate you and
exclude you because of My name have said, ‘Let the LORD be
glorified that we may see your joy!’ But they will be put to
shame.”
For
shame hath
devoured the labour of our fathers from our youth; their flocks and their herds, their sons and their daughters.
From our youth, that shameful god has consumed what our fathers have worked for— their flocks and herds, their sons and daughters.
We lie down in our
shame, and our confusion covereth us: for we have
sinned against the LORD our God, we and our fathers, from our youth even unto this day, and have not obeyed the voice of the LORD our God.
Let us lie down in our
shame; let our disgrace cover us. We have
sinned against the LORD our God, both we and our fathers; from our youth even to this day we have not obeyed the voice of the LORD our God.”
Were they
ashamed when they had committed
abomination?
nay, they were not at all
ashamed, neither could they
blush: therefore they shall fall among them that fall: at the time that I visit them they shall be cast down, saith the LORD.
Are they
ashamed of the
abomination they have committed? No, they have no
shame at all; they do not even know how to
blush. So they will fall among the fallen; when I
punish them, they will
collapse,” says the LORD.
Do they
provoke me to anger? saith the LORD: do they not
provoke themselves to the confusion of their own faces?
But am I the One they are
provoking? declares the LORD. Is it not themselves they spite, to their own
shame?
The wise men are
ashamed, they are dismayed and taken: lo, they have rejected the word of the LORD; and what wisdom is in them?
The wise will be put to
shame; they will be dismayed and
trapped. Since they have rejected the word of the LORD, what wisdom do they really have?
Were they
ashamed when they had committed
abomination?
nay, they were not at all
ashamed, neither could they
blush: therefore shall they fall among them that fall: in the time of their
visitation they shall be cast down, saith the LORD.
Are they
ashamed of the
abomination they have committed? No, they have no
shame at all; they do not even know how to
blush. So they will fall among the fallen; when I
punish them, they will
collapse, says the LORD.
For a voice of
wailing is heard out of
Zion, How are we
spoiled! we are greatly confounded, because we have
forsaken the land, because our dwellings have cast us out.
For the sound of
wailing is heard from
Zion: ‘How
devastated we are! How great is our
shame! For we have abandoned the land because our dwellings have been
torn down.’”
