Berean Standard Bible BSB Bible
And all people of the earth shall see that thou art called by the name of the LORD; and they shall be afraid of thee.
Then all the peoples of the earth will see that you are called by the name of the LORD, and they will
stand in
awe of you.
Ye stand this day all of you before the LORD your God; your captains of your tribes, your elders, and your officers, with all the men of Israel,
All of you are
standing today before the LORD your God—you leaders of tribes, elders, officials, and all the men of Israel,
But with him that standeth here with us this day before the LORD our God, and also with him that is not here with us this day:
but also with those who are
standing here with us
today in the presence of the LORD our God, as well as with those who are not here
today.
There shall not any man be able to
stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor
forsake thee.
No one shall
stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so will I be with you; I will never leave you nor
forsake you.
And thou shalt command the priests that bear the ark of the covenant, saying, When ye are come to the
brink of the water of Jordan, ye shall
stand still in Jordan.
Command the priests carrying the ark of the covenant: ‘When you reach the edge of the waters, stand in the Jordan.’”
And it shall come to pass, as soon as the soles of the feet of the priests that bear the ark of the LORD, the Lord of all the earth, shall rest in the waters of Jordan, that the waters of Jordan shall be cut off from the waters that come down from above; and they shall
stand upon an
heap.
When the feet of the priests who carry the ark of the LORD—the Lord of all the earth—touch down in the waters of the Jordan, its flowing waters will be cut off and will
stand up in a
heap.”
And command ye them, saying, Take you hence out of the midst of Jordan, out of the place where the priests’ feet stood firm, twelve stones, and ye shall carry them over with you, and leave them in the
lodging place, where ye shall
lodge this night.
and command them: ‘Take up for
yourselves twelve stones from the middle of the Jordan where the priests were
standing, carry them with you, and set them down in the place where you
spend the night.’”
For the priests which bare the ark stood in the midst of Jordan, until every thing was finished that the LORD commanded Joshua to speak unto the people, according to all that Moses commanded Joshua: and the people hasted and passed over.
Now the priests who carried the ark remained
standing in the middle of the Jordan until the people had completed everything the LORD had commanded Joshua to tell them, just as Moses had directed Joshua. The people
hurried across,
And it came to pass, when Joshua was by
Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold, there stood a man over against him with his sword drawn in his hand: and Joshua went unto him, and said unto him, Art thou for us, or for our
adversaries?
Now when Joshua was near
Jericho, he looked up and saw a man
standing in front of him with a drawn sword in His hand. Joshua approached Him and asked, “Are You for us or for our enemies?”
And the captain of the LORD’S host said unto Joshua, Loose thy
shoe from off thy foot; for the place
whereon thou
standest is holy. And Joshua did so.
The Commander of the LORD’s army replied, “Take off your
sandals, for the place where you are
standing is holy.” And Joshua did so.
And the LORD said unto Joshua, Get thee up; wherefore liest thou thus upon thy face?
But the LORD said to Joshua, “Stand up! Why have you fallen on your face?
Therefore the children of Israel could not
stand before their enemies, but turned their backs before their enemies, because they were
accursed: neither will I be with you any more, except ye destroy the
accursed from among you.
This is why the Israelites cannot stand against their enemies. They will turn their backs and run from their enemies, because they themselves have been set apart for destruction. I will no longer be with you unless you remove from among you whatever is devoted to destruction.
Up,
sanctify the people, and say,
Sanctify yourselves against to
morrow: for thus saith the LORD God of Israel, There is an
accursed thing in the midst of thee, O Israel: thou canst not
stand before thine enemies, until ye take away the
accursed thing from among you.
Get up and
consecrate the people, saying, ‘
Consecrate yourselves for
tomorrow, for this is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: Among you, O Israel, there are things devoted to destruction. You cannot
stand against your enemies until you remove them.
And the LORD said unto Joshua, Fear them not: for I have delivered them into thine hand; there shall not a man of them stand before thee.
The LORD said to Joshua, “Do not be afraid of them, for I have delivered them into your hand. Not one of them shall stand against you.”
Then spake Joshua to the LORD in the day when the LORD delivered up the
Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun,
stand thou still upon
Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon.
On the day that the LORD gave the
Amorites over to the Israelites, Joshua spoke to the LORD in the presence of Israel: “O sun,
stand still over
Gibeon, O moon, over the Valley of
Aijalon.”
And when he that
doth flee unto one of those cities shall
stand at the entering of the gate of the city, and shall declare his cause in the ears of the elders of that city, they shall take him into the city unto them, and give him a place, that he may dwell among them.
When someone flees to one of these cities, stands at the entrance of the city gate, and states his case before its elders, they are to bring him into the city and give him a place to live among them.
And he shall dwell in that city, until he
stand before the congregation for judgment, and until the death of the high priest that shall be in those days: then shall the
slayer return, and come unto his own city, and unto his own house, unto the city from whence he fled.
He is to stay in that city until he
stands trial before the assembly and until the death of the high priest serving at that time. Then the
manslayer may return to his own home in the city from which he fled.”
These were the cities appointed for all the children of Israel, and for the stranger that sojourneth among them, that
whosoever killeth any person at unawares might
flee thither, and not die by the hand of the
avenger of blood, until he stood before the congregation.
These are the cities appointed for all the Israelites and foreigners among them, so that
anyone who kills a person
unintentionally may
flee there and not die by the hand of the
avenger of blood prior to
standing trial before the assembly.
And the LORD gave them rest round about, according to all that he
sware unto their fathers: and there stood not a man of all their enemies before them; the LORD delivered all their enemies into their hand.
And the LORD gave them rest on every side, just as He had
sworn to their fathers. None of their enemies could
stand against them, for the LORD delivered all their enemies into their hand.
Notwithstanding, if the land of your possession be unclean, then pass ye over unto the land of the possession of the LORD, wherein the LORD’S tabernacle dwelleth, and take possession among us: but
rebel not against the LORD, nor
rebel against us, in building you an altar beside the altar of the LORD our God.
If indeed the land of your inheritance is unclean, then cross over to the land of the LORD’s possession, where the LORD’s tabernacle
stands, and take possession of it among us. But do not
rebel against the LORD or against us by building for
yourselves an altar other than the altar of the LORD our God.
God
forbid that we should
rebel against the LORD, and turn this day from following the LORD, to build an altar for burnt offerings, for meat offerings, or for sacrifices, beside the altar of the LORD our God that is before his tabernacle.
Far be it from us to
rebel against the LORD and turn away from Him
today by building an altar for burnt offerings, grain offerings, or sacrifices, other than the altar of the LORD our God, which
stands before His tabernacle.”
For the LORD hath driven out from before you great nations and strong: but as for you, no man hath been able to stand before you unto this day.
The LORD has driven out great and powerful nations before you, and to this day no one can stand against you.
And the anger of the LORD was hot against Israel, and he delivered them into the hands of spoilers that
spoiled them, and he sold them into the hands of their enemies round about, so that they could not any longer
stand before their enemies.
Then the anger of the LORD burned against Israel, and He delivered them into the hands of those who
plundered them. He sold them into the hands of their enemies all around, whom they were no longer able to resist.
Again he said unto her,
Stand in the door of the tent, and it shall be, when any man
doth come and
enquire of thee, and say, Is there any man here? that thou shalt say, No.
“
Stand at the entrance to the tent,” he said, “and if
anyone comes and asks you, ‘Is there a man here?’ say, ‘No.’”
Then
Gideon built an altar there unto the LORD, and called it Jehovah-shalom: unto this day it is yet in Ophrah of the Abi-ezrites.
So
Gideon built an altar to the LORD there and called it The LORD Is Peace. To this day it
stands in Ophrah of the Abiezrites.
And
Abimelech, and the company that was with him,
rushed forward, and stood in the entering of the gate of the city: and the two other companies ran upon all the people that were in the fields, and
slew them.
Then
Abimelech and the companies with him
rushed forward and took their
stand at the entrance of the city gate. The other two companies
rushed against all who were in the fields and struck them down.
And when he had set the brands on fire, he let them go into the standing corn of the Philistines, and burnt up both the shocks, and also the standing corn, with the vineyards and olives.
Then he
lit the torches and released the foxes into the
standing grain of the Philistines, burning up the piles of grain and the
standing grain, as well as the vineyards and olive groves.
And
Samson said unto the
lad that held him by the hand, Suffer me that I may feel the pillars
whereupon the house
standeth, that I may
lean upon them.
Samson said to the servant who held his hand, “Lead me where I can feel the pillars supporting the temple, so I can
lean against them.”
And the golden
mice, according to the number of all the cities of the Philistines belonging to the five lords, both of
fenced cities, and of country villages, even unto the great stone of
Abel,
whereon they set down the ark of the LORD: which stone remaineth unto this day in the field of Joshua, the Beth-
shemite.
The number of gold rats also corresponded to the number of
Philistine cities belonging to the five rulers—the fortified cities and their outlying villages. And the large rock on which they placed the ark of the LORD
stands to this day in the field of Joshua of Beth-shemesh.
And the men of Beth-shemesh said, Who is able to stand before this holy LORD God? and to whom shall he go up from us?
The men of Beth-shemesh asked, “Who can stand in the presence of the LORD, this holy God? To whom should the ark go up from here?”
And as they were going down to the end of the city, Samuel said to Saul,
Bid the servant pass on before us, (and he passed on,) but
stand thou still a while, that I may
shew thee the word of God.
As they were going down to the edge of the city, Samuel said to Saul, “Tell the servant to go on
ahead of us, but you stay for a while, and I will
reveal to you the word of God.” So the servant went on.
Now therefore stand still, that I may reason with you before the LORD of all the righteous acts of the LORD, which he did to you and to your fathers.
Now present
yourselves, so that I may
confront you before the LORD with all the righteous acts He has done for you and your fathers.
Now therefore stand and see this great thing, which the LORD will do before your eyes.
Now, therefore, stand and see this great thing that the LORD will do before your eyes.
If they say thus unto us,
Tarry until we come to you; then we will
stand still in our place, and will not go up unto them.
If they say, ‘Wait until we come to you,’ then we will stay where we are and will not go up to them.
Then said he unto all Israel, Be ye on one side, and I and
Jonathan my son will be on the other side. And the people said unto Saul, Do what seemeth good unto thee.
Then Saul said to all Israel, “You
stand on one side, and I and my son
Jonathan will
stand on the other side.” “Do what seems good to you,” the troops replied.
And Saul sent to
Jesse, saying, Let David, I pray thee,
stand before me; for he hath found favour in my sight.
Then Saul sent word to
Jesse, saying, “Let David remain in my service, for I am pleased with him.”
And the
Philistine drew near morning and evening, and presented himself forty days.
For forty days the
Philistine came forward every morning and evening to take his
stand.
And David spake to the men that stood by him, saying, What shall be done to the man that killeth this
Philistine, and taketh away the reproach from Israel? for who is this
uncircumcised Philistine, that he should
defy the armies of the living God?
David asked the men who were
standing with him, “What will be done for the man who kills this
Philistine and removes this disgrace from Israel? Just who is this
uncircumcised Philistine, that he should
defy the armies of the living God?”
And I will go out and stand beside my father in the field where thou art, and I will commune with my father of thee; and what I see, that I will tell thee.
I will go out and stand beside my father in the field where you are, so I can ask about you. And if I find out anything, I will tell you.”
And Saul sent messengers to take David: and when they saw the company of the prophets
prophesying, and Samuel
standing as appointed over them, the Spirit of God was upon the messengers of Saul, and they also
prophesied.
he sent messengers to capture him. But when they saw the group of prophets
prophesying, with Samuel leading them, the Spirit of God came upon them, and Saul’s messengers also began to
prophesy.
When Saul heard that David was discovered, and the men that were with him, (now Saul abode in Gibeah under a tree in
Ramah, having his
spear in his hand, and all his servants were
standing about him;)
Soon Saul learned that David and his men had been discovered. At that time Saul was in Gibeah, sitting under the
tamarisk tree on the hill at Gibeah, with his
spear in hand and all his servants
standing around him.
And he said unto me again,
Stand, I pray thee, upon me, and
slay me: for
anguish is come upon me, because my life is yet whole in me.
Then he
begged me, ‘
Stand over me and kill me, for
agony has seized me, but my life still lingers.’
And the children of Benjamin gathered themselves together after
Abner, and became one
troop, and stood on the top of an hill.
The Benjamites
rallied to
Abner, formed a single unit, and took their
stand atop a hill.
But
Absalom fled. And the young man that kept the watch lifted up his eyes, and looked, and, behold, there came much people by the way of the hill side behind him.
Meanwhile,
Absalom had fled. When the young man
standing watch looked up, he saw many people coming down the road west of him, along the side of the hill. And the
watchman went and reported to the king, “I see men coming from the direction of Horonaim, along the side of the hill.”
And when he
polled his head, (for it was at every year’s end that he
polled it: because the hair was heavy on him, therefore he
polled it:) he
weighed the hair of his head at two hundred shekels after the king’s weight.
And when he cut the hair of his head—he
shaved it every year because his hair got so heavy—he would
weigh it out to be two hundred shekels, according to the royal
standard.
And
Absalom rose up early, and stood beside the way of the gate: and it was so, that when any man that had a controversy came to the king for judgment, then
Absalom called unto him, and said, Of what city art thou? And he said, Thy servant is of one of the tribes of Israel.
He would get up early and
stand beside the road leading to the city gate. Whenever
anyone had a
grievance to bring before the king for a decision,
Absalom would call out and ask, “What city are you from?” And if he replied, “Your servant is from one of the tribes of Israel,”
And the king said unto him, Turn aside, and stand here. And he turned aside, and stood still.
“Move aside,” said the king, “and
stand here.” So he
stepped aside.
But he stood in the midst of the ground, and defended it, and
slew the Philistines: and the LORD wrought a great victory.
But Shammah took his stand in the middle of the field, defended it, and struck down the Philistines. So the LORD brought about a great victory.
Wherefore his servants said unto him, Let there be sought for my lord the king a young virgin: and let her
stand before the king, and let her
cherish him, and let her lie in thy
bosom, that my lord the king may get heat.
So his servants said to him, “Let us search for a young virgin for our lord the king, to attend to him and care for him and lie by his side to keep him warm.”
And he made ten bases of brass; four cubits was the length of one base, and four cubits the breadth thereof, and three cubits the height of it.
In addition, he made ten movable stands of bronze, each four cubits long, four cubits wide, and three cubits high.
And the work of the bases was on this manner: they had borders, and the borders were between the ledges:
This was the design of the stands: They had side panels attached to uprights,
And every base had four
brasen wheels, and plates of brass: and the four corners thereof had undersetters: under the
laver were undersetters
molten, at the side of every addition.
Each
stand had four bronze wheels with bronze axles and a basin resting on four supports, with
wreaths at each side.
And the mouth of it within the
chapiter and above was a
cubit: but the mouth thereof was round after the work of the base, a
cubit and an half: and also upon the mouth of it were gravings with their borders,
foursquare, not round.
The opening to each
stand inside the crown at the top was one
cubit deep, with a round opening like the design of a
pedestal, a
cubit and a half wide. And around its opening were engravings, but the panels of the
stands were square, not round.
And under the borders were four wheels; and the axletrees of the wheels were joined to the base: and the height of a wheel was a
cubit and a half a
cubit.
There were four wheels under the panels, and the axles of the wheels were attached to the
stand; each wheel was a
cubit and a half in diameter.
And there were four undersetters to the four corners of one base: and the undersetters were of the very base itself.
Each stand had four handles, one for each corner, projecting from the stand.
And in the top of the base was there a round compass of half a
cubit high: and on the top of the base the ledges thereof and the borders thereof were of the same.
At the top of each
stand was a circular band half a
cubit high. The supports and panels were cast as a unit with the top of the
stand.
After this manner he made the ten bases: all of them had one casting, one measure, and one size.
In this way he made the ten stands, each with the same casting, dimensions, and shape.
Then made he ten lavers of brass: one
laver contained forty baths: and every
laver was four cubits: and upon every one of the ten bases one
laver.
He also made ten bronze basins, each holding forty baths and measuring four cubits across, one basin for each of the ten stands.
And he put five bases on the right side of the house, and five on the left side of the house: and he set the sea on the right side of the house eastward over against the south.
He set five
stands on the south side of the temple and five on the north, and he put the Sea on the south side, at the
southeast corner of the temple.
And the ten bases, and ten lavers on the bases;
the ten stands; the ten basins on the stands;
So that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud: for the glory of the LORD had filled the house of the LORD.
so that the priests could not stand there to minister because of the cloud; for the glory of the LORD filled the house of the LORD.
Happy are thy men, happy are these thy servants, which stand continually before thee, and that hear thy wisdom.
How blessed are your men! How blessed are these servants of yours who stand continually before you and hear your wisdom!
The throne had six steps, and the top of the throne was round behind: and there were stays on either side on the place of the seat, and two lions stood beside the stays.
The throne had six steps, and its back had a rounded top. There were armrests on both sides of the seat, with a lion standing beside each armrest.
And, behold, there came a man of God out of Judah by the word of the LORD unto
Bethel: and
Jeroboam stood by the altar to burn incense.
Suddenly, as
Jeroboam was
standing beside the altar to burn incense, there came a man of God from Judah to
Bethel by the word of the LORD.
And when he was gone, a lion met him by the way, and
slew him: and his
carcase was cast in the way, and the
ass stood by it, the lion also stood by the
carcase.
As he went on his way, a lion met him on the road and killed him, and his body was left lying in the road, with the
donkey and the lion
standing beside it.
And, behold, men passed by, and saw the
carcase cast in the way, and the lion
standing by the
carcase: and they came and told it in the city where the old prophet dwelt.
And there were men passing by who saw the body lying in the road with the lion standing beside it, and they went and reported this in the city where the old prophet lived.
and he went and found the body lying in the road, with the
donkey and the lion
standing beside it. The lion had not eaten the body or
mauled the
donkey.
And
Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of
Gilead, said unto
Ahab, As the LORD God of Israel liveth, before whom I
stand, there shall not be
dew nor rain these years, but according to my word.
Now
Elijah the Tishbite, who was among the settlers of
Gilead, said to
Ahab, “As surely as the LORD lives—the God of Israel before whom I
stand—there will be neither
dew nor rain in these years except at my word!”
And
Elijah said, As the LORD of hosts liveth, before whom I
stand, I will surely
shew myself unto him to day.
Then
Elijah said, “As surely as the LORD of Hosts lives, before whom I
stand, I will present myself to
Ahab today.”
And he said, Go forth, and
stand upon the mount before the LORD. And, behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and
brake in pieces the rocks before the LORD; but the LORD was not in the wind: and after the wind an
earthquake; but the LORD was not in the
earthquake:
Then the LORD said, “Go out and
stand on the mountain before the LORD. Behold, the LORD is about to pass by.” And a great and mighty wind
tore into the mountains and
shattered the rocks before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind. After the wind there was an
earthquake, but the LORD was not in the
earthquake.
And he said, Hear thou therefore the word of the LORD: I saw the LORD sitting on his throne, and all the host of heaven standing by him on his right hand and on his left.
Micaiah continued, “Therefore hear the word of the LORD: I saw the LORD sitting on His throne, and all the host of heaven standing by Him on His right and on His left.
And
Elisha said, As the LORD of hosts liveth, before whom I
stand, surely, were it not that I regard the presence of
Jehoshaphat the king of Judah, I would not look toward thee, nor see thee.
Then
Elisha said, “As surely as the LORD of Hosts lives, before whom I
stand, were it not for my regard for the presence of
Jehoshaphat king of Judah, I would not look at you or acknowledge you.
But
Naaman was
wroth, and went away, and said, Behold, I thought, He will surely come out to me, and
stand, and call on the name of the LORD his God, and strike his hand over the place, and recover the
leper.
But
Naaman went away
angry, saying, “I thought that he would surely come out,
stand and call on the name of the LORD his God, and wave his hand over the spot to cure my
leprosy.
But he said, As the LORD liveth, before whom I stand, I will receive none. And he urged him to take it; but he refused.
But
Elisha replied, “As surely as the LORD lives, before whom I
stand, I will not accept it.” And although
Naaman urged him to accept it, he refused.
Then he said, God do so and more also to me, if the head of
Elisha the son of Shaphat shall
stand on him this day.
He
announced, “May God
punish me, and ever so severely, if the head of
Elisha son of Shaphat remains on his shoulders through this day!”
And there stood a
watchman on the tower in
Jezreel, and he
spied the company of
Jehu as he came, and said, I see a company. And
Joram said, Take an
horseman, and send to meet them, and let him say, Is it peace?
Now the
watchman standing on the tower in
Jezreel saw
Jehu’s troops approaching, and he called out, “I see a company of troops!” “Choose a rider,”
Joram commanded. “Send him out to meet them and ask, ‘Have you come in peace?’”
But they were exceedingly afraid, and said, Behold, two kings stood not before him: how then shall we stand?
But they were
terrified and reasoned, “If two kings could not
stand against him, how can we?”
And when she looked, behold, the king stood by a
pillar, as the manner was, and the princes and the trumpeters by the king, and all the people of the land
rejoiced, and
blew with
trumpets: and
Athaliah rent her clothes, and
cried, Treason, Treason.
And she looked out and saw the king
standing by the
pillar, according to the custom. The officers and trumpeters were beside the king, and all the people of the land were
rejoicing and blowing
trumpets. Then
Athaliah tore her clothes and
screamed, “Treason! Treason!”
Nevertheless they departed not from the sins of the house of
Jeroboam, who made Israel sin, but walked therein: and there remained the
grove also in Samaria.)
Nevertheless, they did not turn away from the sins that the house of
Jeroboam had caused Israel to commit, but they continued to walk in them. The Asherah pole even remained
standing in Samaria.
And king
Ahaz cut off the borders of the bases, and removed the
laver from off them; and took down the sea from off the
brasen oxen that were under it, and put it upon a
pavement of stones.
King
Ahaz also cut off the frames of the movable
stands and removed the bronze basin from each of them. He took down the Sea from the bronze oxen that were under it and put it on a stone base.
And the pillars of brass that were in the house of the LORD, and the bases, and the
brasen sea that was in the house of the LORD, did the Chaldees break in pieces, and carried the brass of them to Babylon.
Moreover, the Chaldeans broke up the bronze pillars and stands and the bronze Sea in the house of the LORD, and they carried the bronze to Babylon.
The two pillars, one sea, and the bases which Solomon had made for the house of the LORD; the brass of all these vessels was without weight.
As for the two pillars, the Sea, and the movable stands that Solomon had made for the house of the LORD, the weight of the bronze from all these articles was beyond measure.
And God sent an angel unto Jerusalem to destroy it: and as he was destroying, the LORD
beheld, and he
repented him of the evil, and said to the angel that destroyed, It is enough, stay now thine hand. And the angel of the LORD stood by the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite.
Then God sent an angel to destroy Jerusalem, but as the angel was doing so, the LORD saw it and relented from the
calamity, and He said to the angel who was destroying the people, “Enough! Withdraw your hand now!” At that time the angel of the LORD was
standing by the
threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.
And David lifted up his eyes, and saw the angel of the LORD
stand between the earth and the heaven, having a drawn sword in his hand stretched out over Jerusalem. Then David and the elders of Israel, who were clothed in
sackcloth, fell upon their faces.
When David lifted up his eyes and saw the angel of the LORD
standing between heaven and earth, with a drawn sword in his hand stretched out over Jerusalem, David and the elders, clothed in
sackcloth, fell facedown.
And to
stand every morning to
thank and praise the LORD, and likewise at even;
They were also to
stand every morning to give
thanks and praise to the LORD, and likewise in the evening.
Now these are the things wherein Solomon was
instructed for the building of the house of God. The length by cubits after the first measure was
threescore cubits, and the breadth twenty cubits.
The foundation that Solomon laid for the house of God was sixty cubits long and twenty cubits wide, according to the old standard.
He made also bases, and lavers made he upon the bases;
the stands; the basins on the stands;
So that the priests could not stand to minister by reason of the cloud: for the glory of the LORD had filled the house of God.
so that the priests could not stand there to minister because of the cloud; for the glory of the LORD filled the house of God.
And the priests waited on their offices: the Levites also with instruments of musick of the LORD, which David the king had made to praise the LORD, because his mercy endureth for ever, when David praised by their ministry; and the priests sounded
trumpets before them, and all Israel stood.
The priests stood at their posts, as did the Levites with the musical instruments of the LORD, which King David had made for giving
thanks to the LORD and with which David had offered praise, saying, “For His loving devotion endures
forever.” Across from the Levites, the priests sounded
trumpets, and all the Israelites were
standing.
Happy are thy men, and happy are these thy servants, which stand continually before thee, and hear thy wisdom.
How blessed are your men! How blessed are these servants of yours who stand continually before you and hear your wisdom!
And there were six steps to the throne, with a
footstool of gold, which were fastened to the throne, and stays on each side of the sitting place, and two lions
standing by the stays:
The throne had six steps, and a
footstool of gold was attached to it. There were armrests on both sides of the seat, with a lion
standing beside each armrest.
Again he said, Therefore hear the word of the LORD; I saw the LORD sitting upon his throne, and all the host of heaven standing on his right hand and on his left.
Micaiah continued, “Therefore hear the word of the LORD: I saw the LORD sitting on His throne, and all the host of heaven standing on His right and on His left.
And said, O LORD God of our fathers, art not thou God in heaven? and rulest not thou over all the kingdoms of the heathen? and in thine hand is there not power and might, so that none is able to
withstand thee?
and said, “O LORD, God of our fathers, are You not the God who is in heaven, and do You not rule over all the kingdoms of the nations? Power and might are in Your hand, and no one can stand against You.
If, when evil cometh upon us, as the sword, judgment, or
pestilence, or famine, we
stand before this house, and in thy presence, (for thy name is in this house,) and cry unto thee in our
affliction, then thou
wilt hear and help.
‘If
disaster comes upon us—whether sword or judgment, plague or famine—we will
stand before this temple and before You, for Your Name is in this temple. We will cry out to You in our distress, and You will hear us and save us.’
And all Judah stood before the LORD, with their little ones, their wives, and their children.
Meanwhile all the men of Judah, with their wives and children and little ones, were standing before the LORD.
Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set
yourselves,
stand ye still, and see the salvation of the LORD with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; to
morrow go out against them: for the LORD will be with you.
You need not fight this battle. Take up your positions,
stand firm, and see the salvation of the LORD on your behalf, O Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid or discouraged. Go out and face them
tomorrow, for the LORD is with you.’”
And she looked, and, behold, the king stood at his
pillar at the entering in, and the princes and the
trumpets by the king: and all the people of the land
rejoiced, and sounded with
trumpets, also the singers with instruments of musick, and such as taught to sing praise. Then
Athaliah rent her clothes, and said, Treason, Treason.
And she looked out and saw the king
standing by his
pillar at the entrance. The officers and trumpeters were beside the king, and all the people of the land were
rejoicing and blowing
trumpets, while the singers with musical instruments were leading the praises. Then
Athaliah tore her clothes and
screamed, “Treason, treason!”
And they
withstood Uzziah the king, and said unto him, It appertaineth not unto thee, Uzziah, to burn incense unto the LORD, but to the priests the sons of Aaron, that are consecrated to burn incense: go out of the sanctuary; for thou hast
trespassed; neither shall it be for thine honour from the LORD God.
They took their stand against King Uzziah and said, “Uzziah, you have no right to offer incense to the LORD. Only the priests, the descendants of Aaron, are consecrated to burn incense. Leave the sanctuary, for you have acted unfaithfully; you will not receive honor from the LORD God.”
My sons, be not now
negligent: for the LORD hath chosen you to
stand before him, to serve him, and that ye should minister unto him, and burn incense.
Now, my sons, do not be
negligent, for the LORD has chosen you to
stand before Him, to serve Him, to minister before Him, and to burn incense.”
