Berean Standard Bible BSB Bible
O LORD, there is none like thee, neither is there any God beside thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears.
O LORD, there is none like You, and there is no God but You, according to everything we have heard with our own ears.
Therefore now, LORD, let the thing that thou hast spoken concerning thy servant and concerning his house be established for ever, and do as thou hast said.
And now, O LORD, let the word You have spoken concerning Your servant and his house be established
forever. Do as You have promised,
Let it even be established,
that thy name may be
magnified for ever, saying, The LORD of hosts is the God of Israel, even a God to Israel: and let the house of David thy servant be established before thee.
so
that Your name will be established and
magnified forever when it is said, ‘The LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, is God over Israel.’ And may the house of Your servant David be established before You.
For thou, O my God, hast told thy servant
that thou
wilt build him an house: therefore thy servant hath found in his heart to pray before thee.
For You, my God, have revealed to Your servant that You will build a house for him. Therefore Your servant has found the courage to pray before You.
Now therefore let it please thee to
bless the house of thy servant,
that it may be before thee for ever: for thou blessest, O LORD, and it shall be blessed for ever.
So now You have been pleased to
bless the house of Your servant,
that it may continue
forever before You. For You, O LORD, have blessed it, and it will be blessed
forever.”
Now after this it came to pass,
that David
smote the Philistines, and subdued them, and took
Gath and her towns out of the hand of the Philistines.
Some time later, David defeated the Philistines, subdued them, and took
Gath and its villages from the hand of the Philistines.
And David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadarezer, and brought them to Jerusalem.
And David took the gold shields that belonged to the officers of Hadadezer and brought them to Jerusalem.
Now when Tou king of
Hamath heard how David had
smitten all the host of Hadarezer king of Zobah;
When King Tou of
Hamath heard
that David had defeated the entire army of Hadadezer king of Zobah,
Them also king David dedicated unto the LORD, with the silver and the gold
that he brought from all these nations; from
Edom, and from Moab, and from the children of
Ammon, and from the Philistines, and from Amalek.
and King David dedicated these to the LORD, along with the silver and gold he had carried off from all these nations—from
Edom and Moab, and from the
Ammonites, Philistines, and
Amalekites.
Now it came to pass after this,
that Nahash the king of the children of
Ammon died, and his son reigned in his
stead.
Some time later, Nahash king of the
Ammonites died and was succeeded by his son.
But the princes of the children of
Ammon said to Hanun, Thinkest thou
that David
doth honour thy father,
that he hath sent comforters unto thee? are not his servants come unto thee for to search, and to overthrow, and to
spy out the land?
the princes of the
Ammonites said to Hanun, “Just because David has sent you comforters, do you really believe he is showing respect for your father? Have not his servants come to you to
explore the land,
spy it out, and overthrow it?”
And when the children of
Ammon saw
that they had made themselves
odious to David, Hanun and the children of
Ammon sent a thousand talents of silver to
hire them
chariots and
horsemen out of
Mesopotamia, and out of Syria-maachah, and out of Zobah.
And the children of
Ammon came out, and put the battle in
array before the gate of the city: and the kings
that were come were by themselves in the field.
The
Ammonites marched out and
arrayed themselves for battle at the entrance to the city, while the kings who had come stayed by themselves in the open country.
Now when
Joab saw
that the battle was set against him before and behind, he chose out of all the choice of Israel, and put them in
array against the Syrians.
When
Joab saw the battle lines before him and behind him, he selected some of the best men of Israel and
arrayed them against the Arameans.
Be of good courage, and let us
behave ourselves
valiantly for our people, and for the cities of our God: and let the LORD do
that which is good in his sight.
Be strong and let us fight
bravely for our people and for the cities of our God. May the LORD do what is good in His sight.”
So
Joab and the people
that were with him drew
nigh before the Syrians unto the battle; and they fled before him.
So
Joab and his troops advanced to fight the Arameans, who fled before him.
And when the children of
Ammon saw
that the Syrians were fled, they likewise fled before
Abishai his brother, and entered into the city. Then
Joab came to Jerusalem.
When the
Ammonites saw
that the Arameans had fled, they too fled before
Joab’s brother
Abishai, and they entered the city. So
Joab went back to Jerusalem.
And when the Syrians saw that they were put to the worse before Israel, they sent messengers, and drew forth the Syrians that were beyond the river: and Shophach the captain of the host of Hadarezer went before them.
When the Arameans saw that they had been defeated by Israel, they sent messengers to bring more Arameans from beyond the Euphrates, with Shophach the commander of Hadadezer’s army leading them.
And when the servants of Hadarezer saw
that they were put to the worse before Israel, they made peace with David, and became his servants: neither would the Syrians help the children of
Ammon any more.
When Hadadezer’s subjects saw
that they had been defeated by Israel, they made peace with David and became subject to him. So the Arameans were unwilling to help the
Ammonites anymore.
And it came to pass,
that after the year was
expired, at the time
that kings go out to battle,
Joab led forth the power of the army, and wasted the country of the children of
Ammon, and came and besieged Rabbah. But David
tarried at Jerusalem. And
Joab smote Rabbah, and destroyed it.
In the spring, at the time when kings march out to war,
Joab led out the army and
ravaged the land of the
Ammonites. He came to Rabbah and besieged it, but David remained in Jerusalem. And
Joab attacked Rabbah and
demolished it.
And he brought out the people
that were in it, and cut them with saws, and with harrows of iron, and with axes. Even so dealt David with all the cities of the children of
Ammon. And David and all the people returned to Jerusalem.
David brought out the people who were there and put them to work with saws, iron picks, and axes. And he did the same to all the
Ammonite cities. Then David and all his troops returned to Jerusalem.
And it came to pass after this,
that there arose war at
Gezer with the Philistines; at which time Sibbechai the Hushathite
slew Sippai,
that was of the children of the
giant: and they were subdued.
Some time later, war broke out with the Philistines at
Gezer. At
that time Sibbecai the Hushathite killed Sippai, a
descendant of the
Rephaim, and the Philistines were subdued.
And David said to
Joab and to the rulers of the people, Go, number Israel from Beer-
sheba even to
Dan; and bring the number of them to me,
that I may know it.
So David said to
Joab and the commanders of the troops, “Go and count the Israelites from
Beersheba to
Dan and bring me a report, so
that I may know their number.”
And
Joab gave the sum of the number of the people unto David. And all they of Israel were a thousand thousand and an hundred thousand men
that drew sword: and Judah was four hundred
threescore and ten thousand men
that drew sword.
And
Joab reported to David the total number of the troops. In all Israel there were 1,100,000 men who drew the sword, including 470,000 in Judah.
Go and tell David, saying, Thus saith the LORD, I offer thee three things: choose thee one of them, that I may do it unto thee.
“Go and tell David that this is what the LORD says: ‘I am offering you three options. Choose one of them, and I will carry it out against you.’”
Either three years’ famine; or three months to be destroyed before thy foes, while
that the sword of thine enemies overtaketh thee; or else three days the sword of the LORD, even the
pestilence, in the land, and the angel of the LORD destroying throughout all the coasts of Israel. Now therefore
advise thyself what word I shall bring again to him
that sent me.
between three years of famine, three months of being swept away before your enemies and overtaken by their swords, or three days of the sword of the LORD—days of plague upon the land, with the angel of the LORD
ravaging every part of Israel.’ Now then, decide how I should reply to Him who sent me.”
And God sent an angel unto Jerusalem to destroy it: and as he was destroying, the LORD
beheld, and he
repented him of the evil, and said to the angel
that destroyed, It is enough, stay now thine hand. And the angel of the LORD stood by the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite.
Then God sent an angel to destroy Jerusalem, but as the angel was doing so, the LORD saw it and relented from the
calamity, and He said to the angel who was destroying the people, “Enough! Withdraw your hand now!” At
that time the angel of the LORD was standing by the
threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.
And David said unto God, Is it not I
that commanded the people to be numbered? even I it is
that have
sinned and done evil indeed; but as for these sheep, what have they done? let thine hand, I pray thee, O LORD my God, be on me, and on my father’s house; but not on thy people,
that they should be plagued.
And David said to God, “Was it not I who gave the order to count the people? I am the one who has
sinned and acted wickedly. But these sheep, what have they done? O LORD my God, please let Your hand fall upon me and my father’s house, but do not let this plague remain upon Your people.”
Then the angel of the LORD commanded
Gad to say to David,
that David should go up, and set up an altar unto the LORD in the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite.
Then the angel of the LORD ordered
Gad to tell David to go up and build an altar to the LORD on the
threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.
And David went up at the saying of
Gad, which he spake in the name of the LORD.
So David went up at the word
that Gad had spoken in the name of the LORD.
Then David said to Ornan, Grant me the place of this threshingfloor, that I may build an altar therein unto the LORD: thou shalt grant it me for the full price: that the plague may be stayed from the people.
Then David said to Ornan, “Grant me the site of this
threshing floor,
that I may build an altar to the LORD. Sell it to me for the full price, so
that the plague upon the people may be
halted.”
And Ornan said unto David, Take it to thee, and let my lord the king do
that which is good in his eyes: lo, I give thee the oxen also for burnt offerings, and the
threshing instruments for wood, and the wheat for the meat offering; I give it all.
Ornan said to David, “My lord the king may take whatever seems good. Look, I will give the oxen for the burnt offerings, the
threshing sledges for the wood, and the wheat for the grain offering—I will give it all.”
And king David said to Ornan,
Nay; but I will
verily buy it for the full price: for I will not take
that which is thine for the LORD, nor offer burnt offerings without cost.
“No,” replied King David, “I
insist on paying the full price, for I will not take for the LORD what belongs to you, nor will I offer burnt offerings
that cost me nothing.”
At that time when David saw that the LORD had answered him in the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite, then he sacrificed there.
At
that time, when David saw
that the LORD had answered him at the
threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite, he offered sacrifices there.
For the tabernacle of the LORD, which Moses made in the wilderness, and the altar of the burnt offering, were at
that season in the high place at
Gibeon.
For the tabernacle of the LORD
that Moses had made in the wilderness and the altar of burnt offering were presently at the high place in
Gibeon,
And David commanded to gather together the strangers
that were in the land of Israel; and he set masons to
hew wrought stones to build the house of God.
So David gave orders to gather the foreigners in the land of Israel, from whom he appointed stonecutters to prepare finished stones for building the house of God.
And David said, Solomon my son is young and tender, and the house
that is to be builded for the LORD must be exceeding
magnifical, of fame and of glory throughout all countries: I will therefore now make preparation for it. So David prepared abundantly before his death.
And David said, “My son Solomon is young and inexperienced, and the house to be built for the LORD must be exceedingly magnificent—famous and glorious throughout all lands. Therefore I must make preparations for it.” So David made
lavish preparations before his death.
Only the LORD give thee wisdom and understanding, and give thee charge concerning Israel, that thou mayest keep the law of the LORD thy God.
Above all, may the LORD give you insight and understanding when He puts you in command over Israel, so that you may keep the Law of the LORD your God.
Then shalt thou
prosper, if thou takest
heed to fulfil the statutes and judgments which the LORD charged Moses with concerning Israel: be strong, and of good courage;
dread not, nor be dismayed.
Then you will succeed, if you carefully follow the statutes and ordinances
that the LORD commanded Moses for Israel. Be strong and
courageous. Do not be afraid or discouraged.
Now set your heart and your soul to seek the LORD your God; arise therefore, and build ye the sanctuary of the LORD God, to bring the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and the holy vessels of God, into the house that is to be built to the name of the LORD.
Now set your heart and soul to seek the LORD your God. Get started building the sanctuary of the LORD God, so that you may bring the ark of the covenant of the LORD and the holy articles of God into the temple that will be built for the Name of the LORD.”
The sons of Amram; Aaron and Moses: and Aaron was separated,
that he should
sanctify the most holy things, he and his sons for ever, to burn incense before the LORD, to minister unto him, and to
bless in his name for ever.
The sons of Amram: Aaron and Moses. Aaron and his descendants were set apart
forever to
consecrate the most holy things, to burn incense before the LORD, to minister before Him, and to
pronounce blessings in His name
forever.
These were the sons of Levi after the house of their fathers; even the chief of the fathers, as they were counted by number of names by their polls, that did the work for the service of the house of the LORD, from the age of twenty years and upward.
These were the descendants of Levi by their families—the heads of families, registered individually by name—those twenty years of age or older who worked in the service of the house of the LORD.
For David said, The LORD God of Israel hath given rest unto his people, that they may dwell in Jerusalem for ever:
For David had said, “The LORD, the God of Israel, has given rest to His people and has come to dwell in Jerusalem
forever.
Both for the
shewbread, and for the fine flour for meat offering, and for the
unleavened cakes, and for
that which is
baked in the pan, and for
that which is
fried, and for all manner of measure and size;
And that they should keep the charge of the tabernacle of the congregation, and the charge of the holy place, and the charge of the sons of Aaron their brethren, in the service of the house of the LORD.
So the Levites were to carry out the responsibilities for the Tent of Meeting and the Holy Place, and, under their brothers the descendants of Aaron, the service of the house of the LORD.
So the number of them, with their brethren
that were
instructed in the songs of the LORD, even all
that were
cunning, was two hundred
fourscore and eight.
Together with their relatives, who were all trained and skillful in the songs of the LORD, they numbered 288.
Also unto Shemaiah his son were sons born, that ruled throughout the house of their father: for they were mighty men of valour.
Also to his son Shemaiah were born sons who ruled over their families because they were strong, capable men.
And all
that Samuel the
seer, and Saul the son of
Kish, and
Abner the son of
Ner, and
Joab the son of Zeruiah, had dedicated; and
whosoever had dedicated any thing, it was under the hand of Shelomith, and of his brethren.
Everything
that had been dedicated by Samuel the
seer, Saul son of
Kish,
Abner son of
Ner, and
Joab son of Zeruiah, along with everything else
that was dedicated, was under the care of Shelomith and his brothers.
Now the children of Israel after their number, to wit, the chief fathers and captains of thousands and hundreds, and their officers that served the king in any matter of the courses, which came in and went out month by month throughout all the months of the year, of every course were twenty and four thousand.
This is the list of the Israelites—the heads of families, the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, and their officers who served the king in every matter concerning the divisions on
rotating military duty each month throughout the year. There were 24,000 men in each division:
This is that Benaiah, who was mighty among the thirty, and above the thirty: and in his course was Ammizabad his son.
This Benaiah was mighty among the Thirty and was over the Thirty, and his son Ammizabad was in charge of his division.
But David took not the number of them from twenty years old and under: because the LORD had said he would increase Israel like to the stars of the heavens.
David did not count the men aged twenty or under, because the LORD had said that He would make Israel as numerous as the stars of the sky.
And over them
that did the work of the field for
tillage of the ground was Ezri the son of Chelub:
Ezri son of Chelub was in charge of the workers in the fields who tilled the soil.
And over the olive trees and the sycomore trees
that were in the low plains was
Baal-hanan the Gederite: and over the cellars of oil was
Joash:
Baal-hanan the Gederite was in charge of the olive and
sycamore trees in the foothills.
Joash was in charge of the stores of olive oil.
And over the herds
that fed in
Sharon was Shitrai the Sharonite: and over the herds
that were in the valleys was Shaphat the son of Adlai:
Shitrai the Sharonite was in charge of the herds
grazing in
Sharon. Shaphat son of Adlai was in charge of the herds in the valleys.
And David assembled all the princes of Israel, the princes of the tribes, and the captains of the companies
that ministered to the king by course, and the captains over the thousands, and captains over the hundreds, and the stewards over all the substance and possession of the king, and of his sons, with the officers, and with the mighty men, and with all the
valiant men, unto Jerusalem.
Now David summoned all the leaders of Israel to Jerusalem: the leaders of the tribes, the leaders of the divisions in the king’s service, the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, and the officials in charge of all the property and cattle of the king and his sons, along with the court officials and mighty men—every mighty man of
valor.
Now therefore in the sight of all Israel the congregation of the LORD, and in the
audience of our God, keep and seek for all the commandments of the LORD your God:
that ye may possess this good land, and leave it for an inheritance for your children after you for ever.
So now in the sight of all Israel, the assembly of the LORD, and in the hearing of our God, keep and seek out all the commandments of the LORD your God, so
that you may possess this good land and leave it as an inheritance to your descendants
forever.
Take
heed now; for the LORD hath chosen thee to build an house for the sanctuary: be strong, and do it.
Consider now that the LORD has chosen you to build a house for the sanctuary. Be strong and do it.”
And the pattern of all
that he had by the spirit, of the courts of the house of the LORD, and of all the chambers round about, of the
treasuries of the house of God, and of the
treasuries of the dedicated things:
The plans contained everything David had in mind for the courts of the house of the LORD, for all the surrounding rooms, for the
treasuries of the house of God and of the dedicated things,
And for the altar of incense refined gold by weight; and gold for the pattern of the
chariot of the cherubims,
that spread out their wings, and covered the ark of the covenant of the LORD.
the weight of the refined gold for the altar of incense; and the plans for the
chariot of the gold
cherubim that spread their wings and overshadowed the ark of the covenant of the LORD.
Moreover, because I have set my affection to the house of my God, I have of mine own proper good, of gold and silver, which I have given to the house of my God, over and above all that I have prepared for the holy house,
Moreover, because of my delight in the house of my God, I now give for it my personal treasures of gold and silver, over and above all that I have provided for this holy temple:
Then the people
rejoiced, for
that they offered willingly, because with perfect heart they offered willingly to the LORD: and David the king also
rejoiced with great joy.
And the people
rejoiced at the willing
response of their leaders, for they had given to the LORD freely and wholeheartedly. And King David also
rejoiced greatly.
Thine, O LORD, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all
that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O LORD, and thou art
exalted as head above all.
Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the
splendor and the majesty, for everything in heaven and on earth belongs to You. Yours, O LORD, is the kingdom, and You are
exalted as head over all.
But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to offer so willingly after this sort? for all things come of thee, and of thine own have we given thee.
But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give as generously as this? For everything comes from You, and from Your own hand we have given to You.
O LORD our God, all this store that we have prepared to build thee an house for thine holy name cometh of thine hand, and is all thine own.
O LORD our God, from Your hand comes all this abundance that we have provided to build You a house for Your holy Name, and all of it belongs to You.
I know also, my God, that thou triest the heart, and hast pleasure in uprightness. As for me, in the uprightness of mine heart I have willingly offered all these things: and now have I seen with joy thy people, which are present here, to offer willingly unto thee.
I know, my God,
that You test the heart and delight in uprightness. All these things I have given willingly and with an upright heart, and now I have seen Your people who are present here giving
joyfully and willingly to You.
And they sacrificed sacrifices unto the LORD, and offered burnt offerings unto the LORD, on the
morrow after
that day, even a thousand bullocks, a thousand rams, and a thousand lambs, with their drink offerings, and sacrifices in abundance for all Israel:
The next day they offered sacrifices and presented burnt offerings to the LORD: a thousand bulls, a thousand rams, and a thousand lambs, along with their drink offerings, and other sacrifices in abundance for all Israel.
And did eat and drink before the LORD on
that day with great
gladness. And they made Solomon the son of David king the second time, and
anointed him unto the LORD to be the chief governor, and
Zadok to be priest.
That day they
ate and
drank with great joy in the presence of the LORD. Then, for a second time, they designated David’s son Solomon as king,
anointing him before the LORD as ruler, and
Zadok as the priest.
And the time
that he reigned over Israel was forty years; seven years reigned he in
Hebron, and thirty and three years reigned he in Jerusalem.
The length of David’s reign over Israel was forty years—seven years in
Hebron and thirty-three years in Jerusalem.
With all his reign and his might, and the times that went over him, and over Israel, and over all the kingdoms of the countries.
together with all the details of his reign, his might, and the circumstances that came upon him and Israel and all the kingdoms of the lands.
So Solomon, and all the congregation with him, went to the high place
that was at
Gibeon; for there was the tabernacle of the congregation of God, which Moses the servant of the LORD had made in the wilderness.
And Solomon and the whole assembly went to the high place at
Gibeon because it was the
location of God’s Tent of Meeting, which Moses the servant of the LORD had made in the wilderness.
Moreover the
brasen altar,
that Bezaleel the son of
Uri, the son of Hur, had made, he put before the tabernacle of the LORD: and Solomon and the congregation sought unto it.
But the bronze altar made by Bezalel son of
Uri, the son of Hur, was in
Gibeon before the tabernacle of the LORD. So Solomon and the assembly inquired of Him there.
In that night did God appear unto Solomon, and said unto him, Ask what I shall give thee.
That night God appeared to Solomon and said, “Ask, and I will give it to you!”
Give me now wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people: for who can judge this thy people, that is so great?
Now grant me wisdom and knowledge, so
that I may lead this people. For who is able to
govern this great people of Yours?”
And God said to Solomon, Because this was in thine heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, or honour, nor the life of thine enemies, neither yet hast asked long life; but hast asked wisdom and knowledge for
thyself,
that thou mayest judge my people, over whom I have made thee king:
God said to Solomon, “Since this was in your heart instead of requesting riches or wealth or glory for
yourself or death for your enemies—and since you have not even requested long life but have asked for wisdom and knowledge to
govern My people over whom I have made you king—
Wisdom and knowledge is granted unto thee; and I will give thee riches, and wealth, and honour, such as none of the kings have had that have been before thee, neither shall there any after thee have the like.
therefore wisdom and knowledge have been granted to you. And I will also give you riches and wealth and honor unlike anything given to the kings before you or after you.”
Then Solomon came from his journey to the high place
that was at
Gibeon to Jerusalem, from before the tabernacle of the congregation, and reigned over Israel.
So Solomon went to Jerusalem from the high place in
Gibeon before the Tent of Meeting, and he reigned over Israel.
And the king made silver and gold at Jerusalem as
plenteous as stones, and
cedar trees made he as the sycomore trees
that are in the
vale for abundance.
The king made silver and gold as common in Jerusalem as stones, and
cedar as abundant as
sycamore in the foothills.
And the house which I build is great: for great is our God above all gods.
The house that I am building will be great, for our God is greater than all gods.
But who is able to build him an house, seeing the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain him? who am I then, that I should build him an house, save only to burn sacrifice before him?
But who is able to build a house for Him, since the heavens, even the highest heavens, cannot contain Him? Who then am I, that I should build a house for Him, except as a place to burn sacrifices before Him?
Send me now therefore a man
cunning to work in gold, and in silver, and in brass, and in iron, and in purple, and
crimson, and blue, and
that can skill to grave with the
cunning men
that are with me in Judah and in Jerusalem, whom David my father did provide.
Send me, therefore, a
craftsman skilled in engraving to work with gold and silver, with bronze and iron, and with purple,
crimson, and blue yarn. He will work with my
craftsmen in Judah and Jerusalem, whom my father David provided.
Send me also
cedar trees,
fir trees, and
algum trees, out of
Lebanon: for I know
that thy servants can skill to cut timber in
Lebanon; and, behold, my servants shall be with thy servants,
Send me also
cedar,
cypress, and
algum logs from
Lebanon, for I know
that your servants have skill to cut timber there. And indeed, my servants will work with yours
And, behold, I will give to thy servants, the hewers that cut timber, twenty thousand measures of beaten wheat, and twenty thousand measures of barley, and twenty thousand baths of wine, and twenty thousand baths of oil.
I will pay your servants, the woodcutters, 20,000 cors of ground wheat, 20,000 cors of barley, 20,000 baths of wine, and 20,000 baths of olive oil.”
Huram said moreover, Blessed be the LORD God of Israel,
that made heaven and earth, who hath given to David the king a wise son,
endued with
prudence and understanding,
that might build an house for the LORD, and an house for his kingdom.
And
Hiram added: “Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, who made the heavens and the earth! He has given King David a wise son with insight and understanding, who will build a temple for the LORD and a royal palace for himself.
The son of a woman of the daughters of
Dan, and his father was a man of Tyre, skilful to work in gold, and in silver, in brass, in iron, in stone, and in timber, in purple, in blue, and in fine linen, and in
crimson; also to grave any manner of graving, and to find out every
device which shall be put to him, with thy
cunning men, and with the
cunning men of my lord David thy father.
He is the son of a woman from the daughters of
Dan, and his father is a man of Tyre. He is skilled in work with gold and silver, bronze and iron, stone and wood, purple, blue, and
crimson yarn, and fine linen. He is experienced in every kind of engraving and can
execute any design
that is given him. He will work with your
craftsmen and with those of my lord, your father David.
And Solomon numbered all the strangers
that were in the land of Israel, after the numbering
wherewith David his father had numbered them; and they were found an hundred and fifty thousand and three thousand and six hundred.
Solomon numbered all the foreign men in the land of Israel following the census his father David had conducted, and there were found to be 153,600 in all.
Then Solomon began to build the house of the LORD at Jerusalem in mount
Moriah, where the LORD appeared unto David his father, in the place
that David had prepared in the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite.
Then Solomon began to build the house of the LORD in Jerusalem on Mount
Moriah, where the LORD had appeared to his father David. This was the place
that David had prepared on the
threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.
Now these are the things wherein Solomon was
instructed for the building of the house of God. The length by cubits after the first measure was
threescore cubits, and the breadth twenty cubits.
The foundation that Solomon laid for the house of God was sixty cubits long and twenty cubits wide, according to the old standard.
And the
porch that was in the front of the house, the length of it was according to the breadth of the house, twenty cubits, and the height was an hundred and twenty: and he overlaid it within with pure gold.
The
portico at the front, extending across the width of the temple, was twenty cubits long and twenty cubits high. He overlaid the inside with pure gold.
Also he made before the house two pillars of thirty and five cubits high, and the
chapiter that was on the top of each of them was five cubits.
In front of the temple he made two pillars, which together were thirty-five cubits high, each with a capital on top measuring five cubits.
And he reared up the pillars before the temple, one on the right hand, and the other on the left; and called the name of
that on the right hand
Jachin, and the name of
that on the left Boaz.
Then he set up the pillars in front of the temple, one on the south and one on the north. The
pillar on the south he named
Jachin, and the
pillar on the north he named Boaz.
And Huram made the pots, and the shovels, and the basons. And Huram finished the work that he was to make for king Solomon for the house of God;
Additionally, Huram made the pots, shovels, and
sprinkling bowls. So Huram finished the work
that he had undertaken for King Solomon in the house of God:
The pots also, and the shovels, and the fleshhooks, and all their instruments, did Huram his father make to king Solomon for the house of the LORD of bright brass.
and the pots, shovels, meat forks, and all the other articles. All these objects that Huram-abi made for King Solomon for the house of the LORD were of polished bronze.
Thus Solomon made all these vessels in great abundance: for the weight of the brass could not be found out.
Solomon made all these articles in such great abundance that the weight of the bronze could not be determined.
And Solomon made all the vessels
that were for the house of God, the golden altar also, and the tables
whereon the
shewbread was set;
Solomon also made all the furnishings for the house of God: the golden altar; the tables on which was placed the Bread of the Presence;
Moreover the candlesticks with their lamps,
that they should burn after the manner before the
oracle, of pure gold;
the lampstands of pure gold and their lamps, to burn in front of the inner sanctuary as prescribed;
And the flowers, and the lamps, and the
tongs, made he of gold, and
that perfect gold;
the flowers, lamps, and
tongs of gold—of purest gold;
Thus all the work that Solomon made for the house of the LORD was finished: and Solomon brought in all the things that David his father had dedicated; and the silver, and the gold, and all the instruments, put he among the treasures of the house of God.
So all the work
that Solomon had performed for the house of the LORD was completed. Then Solomon brought in the items his father David had dedicated—the silver, the gold, and all the furnishings—and he placed them in the
treasuries of the house of God.
Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel, and all the heads of the tribes, the chief of the fathers of the children of Israel, unto Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD out of the city of David, which is
Zion.
At
that time Solomon assembled in Jerusalem the elders of Israel—all the
tribal heads and family leaders of the Israelites—to bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD from
Zion, the City of David.
And they brought up the ark, and the tabernacle of the congregation, and all the holy vessels that were in the tabernacle, these did the priests and the Levites bring up.
and they brought up the ark and the Tent of Meeting with all its sacred furnishings. The
Levitical priests carried them up.
Also king Solomon, and all the congregation of Israel that were assembled unto him before the ark, sacrificed sheep and oxen, which could not be told nor numbered for multitude.
There, before the ark, King Solomon and the whole congregation of Israel who had assembled with him sacrificed so many sheep and oxen that they could not be counted or numbered.
