Praise ye
the LORD. O give
thanks unto
the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.
Who can utter
the mighty acts of
the LORD? who can
shew forth all his praise?
Who can describe
the mighty acts of
the LORD or fully
proclaim His praise?
Blessed are they that keep judgment, and he that doeth righteousness at all times.
Blessed are those who
uphold justice, who practice righteousness at all times.
Remember me, O LORD, with the favour that thou bearest unto thy people: O visit me with thy salvation;
Remember me, O LORD, in Your favor to Your people; visit me with Your salvation,
That I may see
the good of thy chosen, that I may
rejoice in
the gladness of thy nation, that I may glory with thine inheritance.
that I may see
the prosperity of Your chosen ones, and
rejoice in
the gladness of Your nation, and give glory with Your inheritance.
Our fathers understood not thy wonders in Egypt;
they remembered not
the multitude of thy
mercies; but
provoked him at
the sea, even at
the Red sea.
Our fathers in Egypt did not
grasp Your wonders or remember Your abundant kindness; but
they rebelled by
the sea,
there at
the Red Sea.
Nevertheless he saved them for his name’s sake, that he might make his mighty power to be known.
Yet He saved them for the sake of His name, to make His power known.
He
rebuked the Red sea also, and it was dried up: so he led
them through
the depths, as through
the wilderness.
He
rebuked the Red Sea, and it dried up; He led
them through
the depths as through a desert.
And he saved
them from
the hand of him that
hated them, and redeemed
them from
the hand of
the enemy.
He saved
them from
the hand that
hated them; He redeemed
them from
the hand of
the enemy.
And the waters covered their enemies: there was not one of them left.
The waters covered their foes; not one of them remained.
Then believed
they his words;
they sang his praise.
Then they believed His promises and
sang His praise.
They soon
forgat his works;
they waited not for his counsel:
Yet
they soon
forgot His works and failed to wait for His counsel.
But
lusted exceedingly in
the wilderness, and
tempted God in
the desert.
They craved intensely in
the wilderness and tested God in
the desert.
And he gave
them their request; but sent
leanness into
their soul.
So He granted their request, but sent a wasting disease upon them.
They envied Moses also in
the camp, and Aaron
the saint of
the LORD.
In
the camp
they envied Moses, as well as Aaron,
the holy one of
the LORD.
The earth opened and
swallowed up Dathan, and covered
the company of
Abiram.
The earth opened up and
swallowed Dathan; it covered
the assembly of
Abiram.
And a fire was
kindled in
their company;
the flame burned up
the wicked.
Then fire
blazed through
their company; flames consumed
the wicked.
Thus
they changed
their glory into
the similitude of an ox that eateth grass.
They exchanged their Glory for the image of a grass-eating ox.
They forgat God
their saviour, which had done great things in Egypt;
They forgot God
their Savior, who did great things in Egypt,
Wondrous works in
the land of
Ham, and terrible things by
the Red sea.
Therefore he said that he would destroy them, had not Moses his chosen stood before him in the breach, to turn away his wrath, lest he should destroy them.
So He said He would destroy
them— had not Moses His chosen one stood before Him in
the breach to
divert His wrath from destroying
them.
Yea,
they despised the pleasant land,
they believed not his word:
They despised the pleasant land;
they did not believe His promise.
They grumbled in
their tents and did not
listen to
the voice of
the LORD.
Therefore he lifted up his hand against them, to overthrow them in the wilderness:
So He raised His hand and
swore to cast
them down in
the wilderness,
To overthrow
their seed also among
the nations, and to
scatter them in
the lands.
to
disperse their offspring among
the nations and
scatter them throughout
the lands.
They joined
themselves also unto
Baal-peor, and
ate the sacrifices of
the dead.
They yoked
themselves to
Baal of Peor and
ate sacrifices offered to lifeless gods.
Thus
they provoked him to anger with
their inventions: and
the plague
brake in upon
them.
So
they provoked the LORD to anger with
their deeds, and a plague broke out among
them.
Then stood up
Phinehas, and executed judgment: and so
the plague was stayed.
They angered him also at
the waters of
strife, so that it went ill with Moses for
their sakes:
At the waters of Meribah they angered the LORD, and trouble came to Moses because of them.
For
they rebelled against His Spirit, and Moses spoke
rashly with his lips.
They did not destroy the nations, concerning whom the LORD commanded them:
They did not destroy the peoples as the LORD had commanded them,
But were mingled among the heathen, and learned their works.
but they mingled with the nations and adopted their customs.
And
they served
their idols: which were a
snare unto
them.
They worshiped
their idols, which became a
snare to
them.
Yea,
they sacrificed
their sons and
their daughters unto devils,
They sacrificed their sons and their daughters to demons.
And shed innocent blood, even
the blood of
their sons and of
their daughters, whom
they sacrificed unto
the idols of
Canaan: and
the land was
polluted with blood.
They shed innocent blood—
the blood of
their sons and daughters, whom
they sacrificed to
the idols of
Canaan, and
the land was
polluted with blood.
Thus were
they defiled with
their own works, and went a
whoring with
their own inventions.
So
the anger of
the LORD burned against His people, and He
abhorred His own inheritance.
And he gave
them into
the hand of
the heathen; and
they that
hated them ruled over
them.
He delivered
them into
the hand of
the nations, and those who
hated them ruled over
them.
Their enemies also
oppressed them, and
they were brought into subjection under
their hand.
Their enemies
oppressed them, and subdued
them under
their hand.
Many times did he deliver
them; but
they provoked him with
their counsel, and were brought low for
their iniquity.
Many times He
rescued them, but
they were bent on rebellion and
sank down in
their iniquity.
Nevertheless he regarded
their affliction, when he heard
their cry:
Nevertheless He heard their cry; He took note of their distress.
And he remembered for
them his covenant, and
repented according to
the multitude of his
mercies.
And He remembered His covenant with them, and relented by the abundance of His loving devotion.
He made
them also to be
pitied of all those that carried
them captives.
Save us, O LORD our God, and gather us from among
the heathen, to give
thanks unto thy holy name, and to triumph in thy praise.
Save us, O LORD our God, and gather us from
the nations, that we may give
thanks to Your holy name, that we may glory in Your praise.
O give
thanks unto
the LORD, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.
Give
thanks to
the LORD, for He is good; His loving devotion endures
forever.
Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy;
Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom He has redeemed from the hand of the enemy
And gathered them out of the lands, from the east, and from the west, from the north, and from the south.
and gathered from the lands, from east and west, from north and south.
They wandered in
the wilderness in a solitary way;
they found no city to dwell in.
Some
wandered in desert wastelands, finding no path to a city in which to dwell.
Then they cried unto
the LORD in
their trouble, and he delivered
them out of
their distresses.
Then they cried out to
the LORD in
their trouble, and He delivered
them from
their distress.
And he led
them forth by
the right way, that
they might go to a city of
habitation.
He led them on a straight path to reach a city where they could live.
Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!
Let
them give
thanks to
the LORD for His loving devotion and His wonders to
the sons of men.
For he satisfieth
the longing soul, and filleth
the hungry soul with goodness.
For He satisfies
the thirsty and fills
the hungry with good things.
Such as sit in darkness and in
the shadow of death, being bound in
affliction and iron;
Some sat in darkness and in
the shadow of death, prisoners in
affliction and chains,
Because
they rebelled against
the words of God, and
contemned the counsel of
the most High:
because
they rebelled against
the words of God and
despised the counsel of
the Most High.
Therefore he brought down their heart with labour; they fell down, and there was none to help.
He humbled
their hearts with hard labor;
they stumbled, and
there was no one to help.
Then they cried unto
the LORD in
their trouble, and he saved
them out of
their distresses.
Then they cried out to
the LORD in
their trouble, and He saved
them from
their distress.
He brought
them out of darkness and
the shadow of death, and
brake their bands in
sunder.
He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death and broke away their chains.
Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!
Let
them give
thanks to
the LORD for His loving devotion and His wonders to
the sons of men.
For he hath broken
the gates of brass, and cut
the bars of iron in
sunder.
For He has broken down the gates of bronze and cut through the bars of iron.
Their soul abhorreth all manner of meat; and they draw near unto the gates of death.
They loathed all food and drew near to
the gates of death.
Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he saveth them out of their distresses.
Then they cried out to
the LORD in
their trouble, and He saved
them from
their distress.
He sent his word, and
healed them, and delivered
them from
their destructions.
He sent forth His word and
healed them; He
rescued them from
the Pit.
Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!
Let
them give
thanks to
the LORD for His loving devotion and His wonders to
the sons of men.
They that go down to the sea in ships, that do business in great waters;
Others went out to sea in ships, conducting trade on the mighty waters.
These see the works of the LORD, and his wonders in the deep.
They saw the works of the LORD, and His wonders in the deep.
For he commandeth, and raiseth
the stormy wind, which lifteth up
the waves
thereof.
For He spoke and raised a
tempest that lifted
the waves of
the sea.
They mount up to the heaven, they go down again to the depths: their soul is melted because of trouble.
They mounted up to
the heavens,
then sunk to
the depths;
their courage melted in
their anguish.
Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he bringeth them out of their distresses.
Then they cried out to
the LORD in
their trouble, and He brought
them out of
their distress.
He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still.
He calmed
the storm to a
whisper, and
the waves of
the sea were
hushed.
Then are
they glad because
they be quiet; so he bringeth
them unto
their desired
haven.
They rejoiced in
the silence, and He guided
them to
the harbor they desired.
Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!
Let
them give
thanks to
the LORD for His loving devotion and His wonders to
the sons of men.
Let
them exalt him also in
the congregation of
the people, and praise him in
the assembly of
the elders.
Let
them exalt Him in
the assembly of
the people and praise Him in
the council of
the elders.
He turneth rivers into a wilderness, and the watersprings into dry ground;
He turns rivers into deserts, springs of water into
thirsty ground,
A fruitful land into barrenness, for the wickedness of them that dwell therein.
and fruitful land into fields of salt, because of the wickedness of its dwellers.
He turneth the wilderness into a standing water, and dry ground into watersprings.
He turns a desert into pools of water and a dry land into flowing springs.
And
there he maketh
the hungry to dwell, that
they may prepare a city for
habitation;
He causes
the hungry to settle
there, that
they may establish a city in which to dwell.
And
sow the fields, and plant vineyards, which may yield fruits of increase.
They sow fields and plant vineyards that yield a fruitful harvest.
He blesseth them also, so that they are multiplied greatly; and suffereth not their cattle to decrease.
He blesses them, and they multiply greatly; He does not let their herds diminish.
Again,
they are minished and brought low through oppression,
affliction, and sorrow.
When they are decreased and humbled by oppression, evil, and sorrow,
He poureth contempt upon princes, and causeth
them to
wander in
the wilderness, where
there is no way.
He pours out contempt on
the nobles and makes
them wander in a
trackless wasteland.
Yet setteth he
the poor on high from
affliction, and maketh him families like a flock.
But He lifts
the needy from
affliction and increases
their families like flocks.
The righteous shall see it, and
rejoice: and all iniquity shall stop her mouth.
The upright see and
rejoice, and all iniquity shuts its mouth.
Whoso is wise, and will observe
these things, even
they shall understand
the lovingkindness of
the LORD.
Let him who is wise pay
heed to
these things and consider
the loving devotion of
the LORD.
I will praise thee, O LORD, among the people: and I will sing praises unto thee among the nations.
I will praise You, O LORD, among the nations; I will sing Your praises among the peoples.
For thy mercy is great above the heavens: and thy truth reacheth unto the clouds.
For Your loving devotion extends beyond the heavens, and Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds.
Be thou
exalted, O God, above
the heavens: and thy glory above all
the earth;
Be
exalted, O God, above
the heavens; may Your glory cover all
the earth.
God has spoken from His sanctuary: “I will triumph! I will
parcel out
Shechem and
apportion the Valley of Succoth.
Who will bring me into
the strong city? who will lead me into
Edom?
Who will bring me to
the fortified city? Who will lead me to
Edom?
Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man.
Give us aid against the enemy, for the help of man is worthless.
For
the mouth of
the wicked and
the mouth of
the deceitful are opened against me:
they have spoken against me with a lying tongue.
For wicked and
deceitful mouths open against me;
they speak against me with lying tongues.
They compassed me about also with words of hatred; and fought against me without a cause.
For my love
they are my
adversaries: but I give myself unto prayer.
In return for my love
they accuse me, but I am a man of prayer.
