When they go into the tabernacle of the congregation, they shall wash with water, that they die not; or when they come near to the altar to minister, to burn offering made by fire unto the LORD:
Whenever they enter the Tent of Meeting or approach the altar to minister by presenting an offering made by fire to the LORD, they must wash with water so that they will not die.
And the altar of burnt offering
with all his vessels, and the
laver and his foot.
the altar of burnt offering and all its utensils, and the basin with its stand.
Upon man’s flesh shall it not be poured, neither shall ye make any other like it, after the composition of it: it is holy, and it shall be holy unto you.
It must not be used to
anoint an ordinary man, and you must not make anything like it
with the same formula. It is holy, and it must be holy to you.
And the LORD said unto Moses, Take unto thee sweet spices,
stacte, and
onycha, and
galbanum; these sweet spices
with pure
frankincense: of each shall there be a like weight:
And thou shalt beat some of it very small, and put of it before the testimony in the tabernacle of the congregation, where I will meet with thee: it shall be unto you most holy.
Grind some of it into fine powder and place it in front of the Testimony in the Tent of Meeting, where I will meet
with you. It shall be most holy to you.
And I have filled him
with the spirit of God, in wisdom, and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of
workmanship,
And I have filled him
with the Spirit of God,
with skill, ability, and knowledge in all kinds of
craftsmanship,
And I, behold, I have given
with him Aholiab, the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of
Dan: and in the hearts of all that are wise hearted I have put wisdom, that they may make all that I have commanded thee;
Moreover, I have selected Oholiab son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of
Dan, as his assistant. I have also given skill to all the
craftsmen, that they may fashion all that I have commanded you:
And the table and his furniture, and the pure
candlestick with all his furniture, and the altar of incense,
the table with its utensils, the pure gold lampstand with all its utensils, the altar of incense,
And the altar of burnt offering
with all his furniture, and the
laver and his foot,
the altar of burnt offering with all its utensils, and the basin with its stand—
And he gave unto Moses, when he had made an end of communing
with him upon mount
Sinai, two tables of testimony, tables of stone, written
with the finger of God.
When the LORD had finished speaking
with Moses on Mount
Sinai, He gave him the two tablets of the Testimony, tablets of stone inscribed by the finger of God.
And he received them at their hand, and fashioned it
with a graving tool, after he had made it a
molten calf: and they said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.
He took the gold from their hands, and
with an engraving tool he fashioned it into a
molten calf. And they said, “These, O Israel, are your gods, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt!”
And Moses
besought the LORD his God, and said, LORD, why
doth thy wrath wax hot against thy people, which thou hast brought forth out of the land of Egypt
with great power, and
with a mighty hand?
But Moses sought the favor of the LORD his God, saying, “O LORD, why does Your anger burn against Your people, whom You brought out of the land of Egypt with great power and a mighty hand?
Wherefore should the Egyptians speak, and say, For mischief did he bring them out, to
slay them in the mountains, and to
consume them from the face of the earth? Turn from thy fierce wrath, and
repent of this evil against thy people.
Why should the Egyptians declare, ‘He brought them out
with evil intent, to kill them in the mountains and
wipe them from the face of the earth’? Turn from Your fierce anger and relent from doing
harm to Your people.
And Moses turned, and went down from the mount, and the two tables of the testimony were in his hand: the tables were written on both their sides; on the one side and on the other were they written.
Then Moses turned and went down the mountain with the two tablets of the Testimony in his hands. They were inscribed on both sides, front and back.
And it came to pass, as soon as he came
nigh unto the camp, that he saw the
calf, and the dancing: and Moses’ anger waxed hot, and he cast the tables out of his hands, and
brake them beneath the mount.
As Moses approached the camp and saw the
calf and the dancing, he burned
with anger and threw the tablets out of his hands,
shattering them at the base of the mountain.
And the LORD plagued the people, because they made the
calf, which Aaron made.
And the LORD sent a plague on the people because of what they had done
with the
calf that Aaron had made.
Unto a land flowing
with milk and honey: for I will not go up in the midst of thee; for thou art a stiffnecked people: lest I
consume thee in the way.
Go up to a land flowing with milk and honey. But I will not go with you, because you are a stiff-necked people; otherwise, I might destroy you on the way.”
For the LORD had said unto Moses, Say unto the children of Israel, Ye are a stiffnecked people: I will come up into the midst of thee in a moment, and
consume thee: therefore now put off thy ornaments from thee, that I may know what to do unto thee.
For the LORD had said to Moses, “Tell the Israelites, ‘You are a stiff-necked people. If I should go
with you for a single moment, I would destroy you. Now take off your
jewelry, and I will decide what to do
with you.’”
And Moses took the tabernacle, and pitched it
without the camp,
afar off from the camp, and called it the Tabernacle of the congregation. And it came to pass, that every one which sought the LORD went out unto the tabernacle of the congregation, which was
without the camp.
Now Moses used to take the tent and pitch it at a distance outside the camp. He called it the Tent of Meeting, and
anyone inquiring of the LORD would go to the Tent of Meeting outside the camp.
And it came to pass, as Moses entered into the tabernacle, the
cloudy pillar descended, and stood at the door of the tabernacle, and the LORD talked
with Moses.
As Moses entered the tent, the
pillar of cloud would come down and remain at the entrance, and the LORD would speak
with Moses.
And Moses said unto the LORD, See, thou sayest unto me, Bring up this people: and thou hast not let me know whom thou
wilt send
with me. Yet thou hast said, I know thee by name, and thou hast also found grace in my sight.
Then Moses said to the LORD, “Look, You have been telling me, ‘Lead this people up,’ but You have not let me know whom You will send with me. Yet You have said, ‘I know you by name, and you have found favor in My sight.’
And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.
And the LORD answered, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”
And he said unto him, If thy presence go not with me, carry us not up hence.
“If Your Presence does not go with us,” Moses replied, “do not lead us up from here.
For wherein shall it be known here that I and thy people have found grace in thy sight? is it not in that thou goest with us? so shall we be separated, I and thy people, from all the people that are upon the face of the earth.
For how then can it be known that Your people and I have found favor in Your sight, unless You go with us? How else will we be distinguished from all the other people on the face of the earth?”
And it shall come to pass, while my glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a
clift of the rock, and will cover thee
with my hand while I pass by:
and when My glory passes by, I will put you in a
cleft of the rock and cover you
with My hand until I have passed by.
And no man shall come up with thee, neither let any man be seen throughout all the mount; neither let the flocks nor herds feed before that mount.
No one may go up
with you; in fact, no one may be seen
anywhere on the mountain—not even the flocks or herds may
graze in front of the mountain.”
And the LORD descended in the cloud, and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of the LORD.
And the LORD descended in a cloud, stood with him there, and proclaimed His name, the LORD.
And he said, If now I have found grace in thy sight, O Lord, let my Lord, I pray thee, go among us; for it is a stiffnecked people; and
pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us for thine inheritance.
“O Lord,” he said, “if I have indeed found favor in Your sight, my Lord, please go
with us. Although this is a stiff-necked people,
forgive our iniquity and sin, and take us as Your inheritance.”
And he said, Behold, I make a covenant: before all thy people I will do marvels, such as have not been done in all the earth, nor in any nation: and all the people among which thou art shall see the work of the LORD: for it is a terrible thing that I will do with thee.
And the LORD said, “Behold, I am making a covenant. Before all your people I will perform wonders that have never been done in any nation in all the world. All the people among whom you live will see the LORD’s work, for it is an
awesome thing that I am doing
with you.
Take
heed to
thyself, lest thou make a covenant
with the inhabitants of the land
whither thou goest, lest it be for a
snare in the midst of thee:
Be careful not to make a treaty
with the inhabitants of the land you are entering, lest they become a
snare in your midst.
Lest thou make a covenant
with the inhabitants of the land, and they go a
whoring after their gods, and do sacrifice unto their gods, and one call thee, and thou eat of his sacrifice;
Do not make a covenant
with the inhabitants of the land, for when they
prostitute themselves to their gods and sacrifice to them, they will
invite you, and you will eat their sacrifices.
But the
firstling of an
ass thou shalt
redeem with a lamb: and if thou
redeem him not, then shalt thou break his neck. All the
firstborn of thy sons thou shalt
redeem. And none shall appear before me empty.
And thou shalt observe the feast of weeks, of the firstfruits of wheat harvest, and the feast of ingathering at the year’s end.
And you are to
celebrate the Feast of Weeks
with the firstfruits of the wheat harvest, and the Feast of Ingathering at the turn of the year.
Thou shalt not offer the blood of my sacrifice
with leaven; neither shall the sacrifice of the feast of the
passover be left unto the morning.
Do not offer the blood of a sacrifice to Me along
with anything
leavened, and do not let any of the sacrifice from the
Passover Feast remain until morning.
And the LORD said unto Moses, Write thou these words: for after the
tenor of these words I have made a covenant
with thee and
with Israel.
The LORD also said to Moses, “Write down these words, for in accordance with these words I have made a covenant with you and with Israel.”
And he was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights; he did neither eat bread, nor drink water. And he wrote upon the tables the words of the covenant, the ten commandments.
So Moses was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights without eating bread or drinking water. He wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant—the Ten Commandments.
And it came to pass, when Moses came down from mount
Sinai with the two tables of testimony in Moses’ hand, when he came down from the mount, that Moses
wist not that the skin of his face
shone while he talked
with him.
And when Moses came down from Mount
Sinai with the two tablets of the Testimony in his hands, he was unaware that his face had become
radiant from speaking
with the LORD.
And Moses called unto them; and Aaron and all the rulers of the congregation returned unto him: and Moses talked with them.
But Moses called out to them; so Aaron and all the leaders of the congregation returned to him, and Moses spoke to them.
And afterward all the children of Israel came
nigh: and he gave them in commandment all that the LORD had spoken
with him in mount
Sinai.
And after this all the Israelites came near, and Moses commanded them to do everything that the LORD had told him on Mount
Sinai.
And till Moses had done speaking
with them, he put a
vail on his face.
When Moses had finished speaking
with them, he put a
veil over his face.
But when Moses went in before the LORD to speak
with him, he took the
vail off, until he came out. And he came out, and spake unto the children of Israel that which he was commanded.
But whenever Moses went in before the LORD to speak
with Him, he would remove the
veil until he came out. And when he came out, he would tell the Israelites what he had been commanded,
And the children of Israel saw the face of Moses, that the skin of Moses’ face
shone: and Moses put the
vail upon his face again, until he went in to speak
with him.
and the Israelites would see that the face of Moses was
radiant. So Moses would put the
veil back over his face until he went in to speak
with the LORD.
The tabernacle, his tent, and his covering, his taches, and his boards, his bars, his pillars, and his sockets,
the tabernacle with its tent and covering, its clasps and frames, its crossbars, posts, and bases;
The ark, and the
staves thereof,
with the mercy seat, and the
vail of the covering,
the ark
with its poles and mercy seat, and the
veil to shield it;
the table with its poles, all its utensils, and the Bread of the Presence;
The
candlestick also for the light, and his furniture, and his lamps,
with the oil for the light,
the lampstand for light
with its
accessories and lamps and oil for the light;
And the incense altar, and his
staves, and the
anointing oil, and the sweet incense, and the hanging for the door at the entering in of the tabernacle,
the altar of burnt offering
with its bronze
grate, its poles, and all its utensils; the basin
with its stand;
The hangings of the court, his pillars, and their sockets, and the hanging for the door of the court,
The pins of the tabernacle, and the pins of the court, and their cords,
the tent pegs for the tabernacle and for the
courtyard, along
with their ropes;
And all the congregation of the children of Israel departed from the presence of Moses.
Then the whole congregation of Israel withdrew from the presence of Moses.
And every man, with whom was found blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine linen, and goats’ hair, and red skins of rams, and badgers’ skins, brought them.
Everyone who had blue, purple, or scarlet yarn, or fine linen, goat hair, ram skins
dyed red, or articles of fine leather, brought them.
Every one that did offer an offering of silver and brass brought the LORD’S offering: and every man,
with whom was found
shittim wood for any work of the service, brought it.
And all who could present an offering of silver or bronze brought it as a contribution to the LORD. Also,
everyone who had
acacia wood for any part of the service brought it.
And all the women that were wise hearted did
spin with their hands, and brought that which they had
spun, both of blue, and of purple, and of scarlet, and of fine linen.
Every skilled woman
spun with her hands and brought what she had
spun: blue, purple, or scarlet yarn, or fine linen.
And he hath filled him
with the spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of
workmanship;
And He has filled him
with the Spirit of God,
with skill, ability, and knowledge in all kinds of
craftsmanship,
Them hath he filled
with wisdom of heart, to work all manner of work, of the
engraver, and of the
cunning workman, and of the
embroiderer, in blue, and in purple, in scarlet, and in fine linen, and of the
weaver, even of them that do any work, and of those that
devise cunning work.
He has filled them with skill to do all kinds of work as engravers, designers, embroiderers in blue, purple, and scarlet yarn and fine linen, and as weavers—as artistic designers of every kind of craft.
And they received of Moses all the offering, which the children of Israel had brought for the work of the service of the sanctuary, to make it
withal. And they brought yet unto him free offerings every morning.
They received from Moses all the contributions that the Israelites had brought to carry out the service of constructing the sanctuary. Meanwhile, the people continued to bring
freewill offerings morning after morning,
And every wise hearted man among them that wrought the work of the tabernacle made ten curtains of fine
twined linen, and blue, and purple, and scarlet:
with cherubims of
cunning work made he them.
All the skilled
craftsmen among the workmen made the ten curtains for the tabernacle. They were made of finely
spun linen, as well as blue, purple, and scarlet yarn,
with cherubim skillfully worked into them.
And he made fifty taches of gold, and coupled the curtains one unto another with the taches: so it became one tabernacle.
He also made fifty gold clasps to join the curtains together, so that the tabernacle was a unit.
And forty sockets of silver he made under the twenty boards; two sockets under one board for his two tenons, and two sockets under another board for his two tenons.
with forty silver bases to put under the twenty frames—two bases for each frame, one under each
tenon.
And he overlaid the boards with gold, and made their rings of gold to be places for the bars, and overlaid the bars with gold.
And he overlaid the frames with gold and made gold rings to hold the crossbars. He also overlaid the crossbars with gold.
And he made a
vail of blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine
twined linen:
with cherubims made he it of
cunning work.
And he made
thereunto four pillars of
shittim wood, and overlaid them
with gold: their hooks were of gold; and he cast for them four sockets of silver.
He also made four posts of
acacia wood for it and overlaid them
with gold, along
with gold hooks; and he cast four silver bases for the posts.
And he made an hanging for the tabernacle door of blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine
twined linen, of
needlework;
For the entrance to the tent, he made a
curtain embroidered with blue, purple, and scarlet yarn, and finely
spun linen,
And the five pillars of it with their hooks: and he overlaid their chapiters and their fillets with gold: but their five sockets were of brass.
together with five posts and their hooks. He overlaid the tops of the posts and their bands with gold, and their five bases were bronze.
And he overlaid it with pure gold within and without, and made a crown of gold to it round about.
He overlaid it
with pure gold, both inside and out, and made a gold
molding around it.
Then he made poles of
acacia wood and overlaid them
with gold.
And the cherubims spread out their wings on high, and covered with their wings over the mercy seat, with their faces one to another; even to the mercy seatward were the faces of the cherubims.
And the
cherubim had wings that spread upward, overshadowing the mercy seat. The
cherubim faced each other, looking toward the mercy seat.
And he overlaid it
with pure gold, and made
thereunto a crown of gold round about.
He overlaid it
with pure gold and made a gold
molding around it.
And he made the
staves of
shittim wood, and overlaid them
with gold, to bear the table.
He made the poles of
acacia wood for carrying the table and overlaid them
with gold.
And he made the vessels which were upon the table, his dishes, and his spoons, and his
bowls, and his covers to cover
withal, of pure gold.
He also made the utensils for the table out of pure gold: its plates and dishes, as well as its
bowls and pitchers for pouring drink offerings.
Three
bowls made after the fashion of almonds in one branch, a
knop and a flower; and three
bowls made like almonds in another branch, a
knop and a flower: so throughout the six branches going out of the
candlestick.
There were three cups shaped like
almond blossoms on the first branch, each
with buds and petals, three on the next branch, and the same for all six branches that extended from the lampstand.
And in the
candlestick were four
bowls made like almonds, his knops, and his flowers:
And on the lampstand were four cups shaped like
almond blossoms
with buds and petals.
Their knops and their branches were of the same: all of it was one beaten work of pure gold.
The buds and branches were all of one piece with the lampstand, hammered out of pure gold.
And he overlaid it with pure gold, both the top of it, and the sides thereof round about, and the horns of it: also he made unto it a crown of gold round about.
And he overlaid
with pure gold the top and all the sides and horns. Then he made a
molding of gold around it.
And he made two rings of gold for it under the crown thereof, by the two corners of it, upon the two sides thereof, to be places for the
staves to bear it
withal.
He made two gold rings below the
molding on opposite sides to hold the poles used to carry it.
And he made the
staves of
shittim wood, and overlaid them
with gold.
And he made the poles of
acacia wood and overlaid them
with gold.
And he made the horns thereof on the four corners of it; the horns thereof were of the same: and he overlaid it with brass.
He made a horn at each of its four corners, so that the horns and altar were of one piece, and he overlaid the altar with bronze.
And he made the
staves of
shittim wood, and overlaid them
with brass.
And he made the poles of
acacia wood and overlaid them
with bronze.
And he put the
staves into the rings on the sides of the altar, to bear it
withal; he made the altar hollow
with boards.
Then he inserted the poles into the rings on the sides of the altar for carrying it. He made the altar with boards so that it was hollow.
Their pillars were twenty, and their
brasen sockets twenty; the hooks of the pillars and their fillets were of silver.
with twenty posts and twenty bronze bases, and with silver hooks and bands on the posts.
And for the north side the hangings were an hundred cubits, their pillars were twenty, and their sockets of brass twenty; the hooks of the pillars and their fillets of silver.
The north side was also a hundred cubits long, with twenty posts and twenty bronze bases. The hooks and bands of the posts were silver.
And for the west side were hangings of fifty cubits, their pillars ten, and their sockets ten; the hooks of the pillars and their fillets of silver.
The west side was fifty cubits long and had curtains, with ten posts and ten bases. The hooks and bands of the posts were silver.
The hangings of the one side of the gate were fifteen cubits; their pillars three, and their sockets three.
The curtains on one side of the entrance were fifteen cubits long, with three posts and three bases.
And for the other side of the court gate, on this hand and that hand, were hangings of fifteen cubits; their pillars three, and their sockets three.
And the curtains on the other side were also fifteen cubits long, with three posts and three bases as well.
And the sockets for the pillars were of brass; the hooks of the pillars and their fillets of silver; and the overlaying of their chapiters of silver; and all the pillars of the court were
filleted with silver.
The bases for the posts were bronze, the hooks and bands were silver, and the plating for the tops of the posts was silver. So all the posts of the
courtyard were banded
with silver.
And the hanging for the gate of the court was
needlework, of blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine
twined linen: and twenty cubits was the length, and the height in the breadth was five cubits, answerable to the hangings of the court.
The
curtain for the entrance to the
courtyard was
embroidered with blue, purple, and scarlet yarn, and finely
spun linen. It was twenty cubits long and, like the curtains of the
courtyard, five cubits high,
And their pillars were four, and their sockets of brass four; their hooks of silver, and the overlaying of their chapiters and their fillets of silver.
with four posts and four bronze bases. Their hooks were silver, as well as the bands and the plating of their tops.
With him was Oholiab son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of
Dan, an
engraver, designer, and
embroiderer in blue, purple, and scarlet yarn and fine linen.
And of the thousand seven hundred seventy and five shekels he made hooks for the pillars, and overlaid their chapiters, and
filleted them.
With the 1,775 shekels of silver he made the hooks for the posts, overlaid their tops, and supplied bands for them.
And he made the
ephod of gold, blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine
twined linen.
Bezalel made the
ephod of finely
spun linen
embroidered with gold, and
with blue, purple, and scarlet yarn.
And they did beat the gold into thin plates, and cut it into wires, to work it in the blue, and in the purple, and in the scarlet, and in the fine linen,
with cunning work.
They hammered out thin sheets of gold and cut threads from them to
interweave with the blue, purple, and scarlet yarn, and fine linen—the work of a skilled
craftsman.
And the curious
girdle of his
ephod, that was upon it, was of the same, according to the work thereof; of gold, blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine
twined linen; as the LORD commanded Moses.
And they wrought
onyx stones inclosed in ouches of gold,
graven, as signets are
graven,
with the names of the children of Israel.
They mounted the
onyx stones in gold
filigree settings, engraved like a seal
with the names of the sons of Israel.
He made the breastpiece
with the same
workmanship as the
ephod,
with gold,
with blue, purple, and scarlet yarn, and
with finely
spun linen.
And the stones were according to the names of the children of Israel, twelve, according to their names, like the engravings of a
signet, every one
with his name, according to the twelve tribes.
The twelve stones corresponded to the names of the sons of Israel. Each stone was engraved like a seal with the name of one of the twelve tribes.
And they did bind the
breastplate by his rings unto the rings of the
ephod with a lace of blue, that it might be above the curious
girdle of the
ephod, and that the
breastplate might not be loosed from the
ephod; as the LORD commanded Moses.
Then they
tied the rings of the breastpiece to the rings of the
ephod with a cord of blue yarn, so that the breastpiece was above the
waistband of the
ephod and would not
swing out from the
ephod, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.
And there was an hole in the midst of the
robe, as the hole of an
habergeon,
with a band round about the hole, that it should not
rend.
with an opening in the center of the
robe like that of a garment,
with a
collar around the opening so that it would not
tear.
And a
girdle of fine
twined linen, and blue, and purple, and scarlet, of
needlework; as the LORD commanded Moses.
and the
sash of finely
spun linen,
embroidered with blue, purple, and scarlet yarn, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.
