Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the
precept of men:

But if thou say to me, We trust in the LORD our God: is it not he, whose high places and whose altars
Hezekiah hath taken away, and said to Judah and to Jerusalem, Ye shall
worship before this altar?

Hezekiah has removed, saying to Judah and Jerusalem, ‘You must
worship before this altar’?

worshiping in the temple of his god

Then shall it be for a man to burn: for he will take thereof, and warm himself;
yea, he kindleth it, and baketh bread;
yea, he maketh a god, and
worshippeth it; he maketh it a
graven image, and falleth down
thereto.
It serves as fuel for man. He takes some of it to warm himself, and he kindles a fire and bakes his bread; he even fashions it into a god and
worships it; he makes an
idol and bows down to it.
And the residue thereof he maketh a god, even his
graven image: he falleth down unto it, and
worshippeth it, and prayeth unto it, and saith, Deliver me; for thou art my god.

graven image. He bows down to it and
worships; he prays to it and says, “Save me, for you are my god.”

worship, because of the LORD that is faithful, and the Holy One of Israel, and he shall choose thee.
Thus says the LORD, the
Redeemer and Holy One of Israel, to Him who was
despised and
abhorred by the nation, to the Servant of rulers: “Kings will see You and rise, and princes will bow down, because of the LORD, who is faithful, the Holy One of Israel, who has chosen You.”

And I will utter my judgments against them touching all their wickedness, who have
forsaken me, and have burned incense unto other gods, and
worshipped the works of their own hands.

pronounce My judgments against them for all their wickedness, because they have

worship the works of their own hands.
Stand in the gate of the LORD’S house, and
proclaim there this word, and say, Hear the word of the LORD, all ye of Judah, that enter in at these gates to
worship the LORD.
“Stand in the gate of the house of the LORD and
proclaim this message: Hear the word of the LORD, all you people of Judah who enter through these gates to
worship the LORD.
And they shall spread them before the sun, and the moon, and all the host of heaven, whom they have loved, and whom they have served, and after whom they have walked, and whom they have sought, and whom they have worshipped: they shall not be gathered, nor be buried; they shall be for dung upon the face of the earth.
They will be exposed to the sun and moon, and to all the host of heaven which they have loved, served, followed, consulted, and worshiped. Their bones will not be gathered up or buried, but will become like dung lying on the ground.
This evil people, which refuse to hear my words, which walk in the imagination of their heart, and walk after other gods, to serve them, and to
worship them, shall even be as this
girdle, which is good for nothing.
These evil people, who refuse to
listen to My words, who follow the
stubbornness of their own hearts, and who go after other gods to serve and
worship them, they will be like this loincloth—of no use at all.
Then shalt thou say unto them, Because your fathers have
forsaken me, saith the LORD, and have walked after other gods, and have served them, and have
worshipped them, and have
forsaken me, and have not kept my law;
Then you are to answer them: ‘It is because your fathers have
forsaken Me, declares the LORD, and followed other gods, and served and
worshiped them. They abandoned Me and did not keep My instruction.
Then they shall answer, Because they have
forsaken the covenant of the LORD their God, and
worshipped other gods, and served them.
Then people will reply, ‘Because they have
forsaken the covenant of the LORD their God and have
worshiped and served other gods.’”
Which think to cause my people to
forget my name by their dreams which they tell every man to his neighbour, as their fathers have forgotten my name for
Baal.
They suppose the dreams that they tell one another will make My people
forget My name, just as their fathers
forgot My name through the
worship of
Baal.
And go not after other gods to serve them, and to
worship them, and
provoke me not to anger with the works of your hands; and I will do you no
hurt.
Do not follow other gods to serve and
worship them, and do not
provoke Me to anger with the works of your hands. Then I will do you no
harm.’
Thus saith the LORD; Stand in the court of the LORD’S house, and speak unto all the cities of Judah, which come to worship in the LORD’S house, all the words that I command thee to speak unto them; diminish not a word:
“This is what the LORD says: Stand in the
courtyard of the house of the LORD and speak all the words I have commanded you to speak to all the cities of Judah who come to
worship there. Do not
omit a word.
And when we burned incense to the queen of heaven, and poured out drink offerings unto her, did we make her cakes to worship her, and pour out drink offerings unto her, without our men?

sacrificial cakes in her image and poured out drink offerings to her?”
And he brought me into the inner court of the LORD’S house, and, behold, at the door of the temple of the LORD, between the
porch and the altar, were about five and twenty men, with their backs toward the temple of the LORD, and their faces toward the east; and they
worshipped the sun toward the east.
So He brought me to the inner court of the house of the LORD, and there at the entrance to the temple of the LORD, between the
portico and the altar, were about twenty-five men with their backs to the temple of the LORD and their faces toward the east; and they were bowing to the east in
worship of the sun.
And the prince shall enter by the way of the
porch of that gate without, and shall stand by the post of the gate, and the priests shall prepare his burnt offering and his peace offerings, and he shall
worship at the
threshold of the gate: then he shall go forth; but the gate shall not be shut until the evening.
The prince is to enter from the outside through the
portico of the
gateway and stand by the
gatepost, while the priests sacrifice his burnt offerings and peace offerings. He is to bow in
worship at the
threshold of the gate and then depart, but the gate must not be shut until evening.
Likewise the people of the land shall worship at the door of this gate before the LORD in the sabbaths and in the new moons.
On the Sabbaths and New Moons the people of the land are also to bow in
worship before the LORD at the entrance to that
gateway.
But when the people of the land shall come before the LORD in the solemn feasts, he that entereth in by the way of the north gate to worship shall go out by the way of the south gate; and he that entereth by the way of the south gate shall go forth by the way of the north gate: he shall not return by the way of the gate whereby he came in, but shall go forth over against it.
When the people of the land come before the LORD at the appointed feasts,
whoever enters by the north gate to
worship must go out by the south gate, and
whoever enters by the south gate must go out by the north gate. No one is to return through the gate by which he entered, but each must go out by the opposite gate.
Then the king
Nebuchadnezzar fell upon his face, and

Nebuchadnezzar fell on his face, paid
homage to Daniel, and ordered that an offering of incense be presented to him.
As soon as you hear the sound of the horn,
flute,
zither,
lyre,
harp, pipes, and all kinds of music, you must fall down and
worship the golden statue that King
Nebuchadnezzar has set up.
And
whoso falleth not down and
worshippeth shall the same hour be cast into the midst of a burning
fiery furnace.
And
whoever does not fall down and
worship will immediately be thrown into the
blazing fiery furnace.”
Therefore at that time, when all the people heard the sound of the
cornet,
flute,
harp,
sackbut,
psaltery, and all kinds of musick, all the people, the nations, and the languages, fell down and
worshipped the golden image that
Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up.
Therefore, as soon as all the people heard the sound of the horn,
flute,
zither,
lyre,
harp, and all kinds of music, the people of every nation and language would fall down and
worship the golden statue that King
Nebuchadnezzar had set up.
Thou, O king, hast made a decree, that every man that shall hear the sound of the
cornet,
flute,
harp,
sackbut,
psaltery, and
dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, shall fall down and
worship the golden image:
You, O king, have issued a decree that
everyone who hears the sound of the horn,
flute,
zither,
lyre,
harp, pipes, and all kinds of music must fall down and
worship the golden statue,
And
whoso falleth not down and
worshippeth, that he should be cast into the midst of a burning
fiery furnace.
There are certain Jews whom thou hast set over the affairs of the province of Babylon,
Shadrach, Meshach, and
Abed-nego; these men, O king, have not regarded thee: they serve not thy gods, nor
worship the golden image which thou hast set up.
But there are some Jews you have appointed to
manage the province of Babylon—
Shadrach, Meshach, and
Abednego—who have
ignored you, O king, and have refused to serve your gods or
worship the golden statue you have set up.”
Nebuchadnezzar spake and said unto them, Is it true, O
Shadrach, Meshach, and
Abed-nego, do not ye serve my gods, nor
worship the golden image which I have set up?
and
Nebuchadnezzar said to them, “
Shadrach, Meshach, and
Abednego, is it true that you do not serve my gods or
worship the golden statue I have set up?
Now if ye be ready that at what time ye hear the sound of the
cornet,
flute,
harp,
sackbut,
psaltery, and
dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and
worship the image which I have made; well: but if ye
worship not, ye shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning
fiery furnace; and who is that God that shall deliver you out of my hands?
Now, if you are ready, as soon as you hear the sound of the horn,
flute,
zither,
lyre,
harp, pipes, and all kinds of music, you must fall down and
worship the statue I have made. But if you refuse to
worship, you will be thrown at once into the
blazing fiery furnace. Then what god will be able to deliver you from my hands?”
But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.
But even if He does not, let it be known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the golden statue you have set up.”
Then
Nebuchadnezzar spake, and said, Blessed be the God of
Shadrach, Meshach, and
Abed-nego, who hath sent his angel, and delivered his servants that trusted in him, and have changed the king’s word, and yielded their bodies, that they might not serve nor
worship any god, except their own God.
Nebuchadnezzar declared, “Blessed be the God of
Shadrach, Meshach, and
Abednego, who has sent His angel and delivered His servants who trusted in Him. They
violated the king’s command and risked their lives rather than serve or
worship any god except their own God.
And he said unto them, I am an Hebrew; and I fear the LORD, the God of heaven, which hath made the sea and the dry land.
“I am a Hebrew,” replied
Jonah. “I
worship the LORD, the God of the heavens, who made the sea and the dry land.”
Thy
graven images also will I cut off, and thy standing images out of the midst of thee; and thou shalt no more
worship the work of thine hands.
I will also cut off the carved images and sacred pillars from among you, so that you will no longer bow down to the work of your own hands.
I will
consume man and beast; I will
consume the fowls of the heaven, and the fishes of the sea, and the stumblingblocks with the wicked; and I will cut off man from off the land, saith the LORD.
“I will
sweep away man and beast; I will
sweep away the birds of the air, and the fish of the sea, and the idols with their wicked
worshipers. I will cut off mankind from the face of the earth,” declares the LORD.
And them that
worship the host of heaven upon the housetops; and them that
worship and that
swear by the LORD, and that
swear by Malcham;
those who bow on the rooftops to
worship the host of heaven, those who bow down and
swear by the LORD but also
swear by Milcom,
The LORD will be terrible unto them: for he will
famish all the gods of the earth; and men shall
worship him, every one from his place, even all the isles of the heathen.
The LORD will be
terrifying to them when He starves all the gods of the earth. Then the nations of every shore will bow in
worship to Him, each in its own place.
From beyond the rivers of
Ethiopia my suppliants, even the daughter of my
dispersed, shall bring mine offering.
From beyond the rivers of
Cush My
worshipers, My scattered people, will bring Me an offering.
And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles.
Then all the survivors from the nations that came against Jerusalem will go up year after year to
worship the King, the LORD of Hosts, and to
celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles.
And it shall be, that
whoso will not come up of all the families of the earth unto Jerusalem to
worship the King, the LORD of hosts, even upon them shall be no rain.
And should any of the families of the earth not go up to Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD of Hosts, then the rain will not fall on them.

diligently for the young child; and when ye have found him, bring me word again, that I may come and
worship him also.

worship Him.”
And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and
worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and
frankincense, and
myrrh.
On coming to the house, they saw the Child with His mother Mary, and they fell down and
worshiped Him. Then they opened their treasures and presented Him with gifts of gold and
frankincense and
myrrh.
And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou
wilt fall down and
worship me.
“All this I will give You,” he said, “if You will fall down and worship me.”

worshiped Him.

And they
smote him on the head with a reed, and did
spit upon him, and bowing their knees
worshipped him.
They kept striking His head with a staff and
spitting on Him. And they
knelt down and bowed before Him.
And she was a widow of about
fourscore and four years, which departed not from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day.

If thou therefore
wilt worship me, all shall be thine.
So if You worship me, it will all be Yours.”

bidden, go and sit down in the lowest room; that when he that
bade thee cometh, he may say unto thee, Friend, go up higher: then shalt thou have
worship in the presence of them that sit at meat with thee.
But when you are invited, go and sit in the last place, so that your host will come and tell you, ‘Friend, move up to a better place.’ Then you will be honored in front of
everyone at the table with you.
And they worshipped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy:

God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
God is Spirit, and His worshipers must worship Him in spirit and in truth.”
Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.
We know that God does not
listen to sinners, but He does
listen to the one who
worships Him and does His will.
And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him.
