And the nation to whom they shall be in
bondage will I judge, said God: and after that shall they come forth, and serve me in this place.
‘But I will
punish the nation that enslaves them,’ God said, ‘and afterward they will come forth and
worship Me in this place.’
Then God turned, and gave them up to worship the host of heaven; as it is written in the book of the prophets, O ye house of Israel, have ye offered to me slain beasts and sacrifices by the space of forty years in the wilderness?
But God turned away from them and gave them over to the worship of the host of heaven, as it is written in the book of the prophets: ‘Did you bring Me sacrifices and offerings forty years in the wilderness, O house of Israel?
Yea, ye took up the tabernacle of
Moloch, and the star of your god
Remphan, figures which ye made to
worship them: and I will carry you away beyond Babylon.
You have taken along the tabernacle of
Molech and the star of your god Rephan, the idols you made to
worship. Therefore I will send you into exile beyond Babylon.’
And he arose and went: and, behold, a man of
Ethiopia, an
eunuch of great authority under
Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her
treasure, and had come to Jerusalem for to
worship,
So he started out, and on his way he met an
Ethiopian eunuch, a court official in charge of the entire treasury of
Candace, queen of the Ethiopians. He had gone to Jerusalem to
worship,
And as Peter was coming in,
Cornelius met him, and fell down at his feet, and
worshipped him.
As Peter was about to enter,
Cornelius met him and fell at his feet to
worship him.
As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me
Barnabas and Saul for the work
whereunto I have called them.
While they were
worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for Me
Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.”
And a certain woman named
Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of
Thyatira, which
worshipped God, heard us: whose heart the Lord opened, that she attended unto the things which were spoken of Paul.
Among those
listening was a woman named
Lydia, a dealer in purple cloth from the city of
Thyatira, who was a
worshiper of God. The Lord opened her heart to
respond to Paul’s message.
For as I passed by, and
beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Whom therefore ye ignorantly
worship, him declare I unto you.
For as I walked around and examined your objects of
worship, I even found an altar with this inscription: TO AN UNKNOWN GOD. Therefore what you
worship as something unknown, I now
proclaim to you.
Neither is worshipped with men’s hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;
Nor is He served by human hands, as if He needed anything, because He Himself gives
everyone life and breath and everything else.
And he departed thence, and entered into a certain man’s house, named Justus, one that
worshipped God, whose house joined hard to the
synagogue.
So Paul left the
synagogue and went next door to the house of
Titus Justus, a
worshiper of God.
Saying, This fellow persuadeth men to worship God contrary to the law.
“This man is
persuading the people to
worship God in ways contrary to the law,” they said.
So that not only this our craft is in danger to be set at
nought; but also that the temple of the great goddess
Diana should be
despised, and her
magnificence should be destroyed, whom all Asia and the world
worshippeth.
There is danger not only that our business will fall into
disrepute, but also that the temple of the great goddess Artemis will be discredited and her majesty
deposed—she who is
worshiped by all the province of Asia and the whole world.”
And when the townclerk had
appeased the people, he said, Ye men of Ephesus, what man is there that knoweth not how that the city of the
Ephesians is a
worshipper of the great goddess
Diana, and of the image which fell down from Jupiter?
Finally the city clerk quieted the crowd and declared, “Men of Ephesus, doesn’t
everyone know that the city of Ephesus is
guardian of the temple of the great Artemis and of her image, which fell from heaven?
Because that thou mayest understand, that there are yet but twelve days since I went up to Jerusalem for to worship.
You can
verify for
yourself that no more than twelve days ago I went up to Jerusalem to
worship.
But this I
confess unto thee, that after the way which they call heresy, so
worship I the God of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the law and in the prophets:
I do
confess to you, however, that I
worship the God of our fathers according to the Way, which they call a sect. I believe everything that is laid down by the Law and written in the Prophets,
Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and
worshipped and served the creature more than the
Creator, who is blessed for ever.
Amen.
They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and
worshiped and served the creature rather than the
Creator, who is
forever worthy of praise!
Amen.
Who are Israelites; to whom pertaineth the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service of God, and the promises;
the people of Israel. Theirs is the adoption as sons; theirs the divine glory and the covenants; theirs the giving of the law, the temple worship, and the promises.
I
beseech you therefore, brethren, by the
mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
Therefore I
urge you, brothers, on account of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God, which is your spiritual service of
worship.
And thus are the secrets of his heart made manifest; and so falling down on his face he will worship God, and report that God is in you of a truth.
and the secrets of his heart will be made known. So he will fall facedown and
worship God,
proclaiming, “God is truly among you!”
For we are the
circumcision, which
worship God in the spirit, and
rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.
For it is we who are the
circumcision, we who
worship by the Spirit of God, who glory in Christ Jesus, and who put no confidence in the flesh—
Do not let
anyone who delights in false
humility and the
worship of angels
disqualify you with speculation about what he has seen. Such a person is
puffed up without basis by his unspiritual mind.
Which things have indeed a
shew of wisdom in will
worship, and
humility, and neglecting of the body; not in any honour to the satisfying of the flesh.
Such restrictions indeed have an appearance of wisdom, with their self-prescribed
worship, their false
humility, and their harsh treatment of the body; but they are of no value against the
indulgence of the flesh.
Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is
worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God,
shewing himself that he is God.
He will
oppose and
exalt himself above every so-called god or object of
worship. So he will seat himself in the temple of God,
proclaiming himself to be God.
but with good deeds, as is proper for women who
profess to
worship God.
And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him.
And again, when God brings His
firstborn into the world, He says: “Let all God’s angels
worship Him.”
Then
verily the first covenant had also ordinances of divine service, and a worldly sanctuary.
Now the first covenant had regulations for worship and also an earthly sanctuary.
Which was a figure for the time then present, in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not make him that did the service perfect, as pertaining to the conscience;
It is an illustration for the present time, because the gifts and sacrifices being offered were unable to
cleanse the conscience of the
worshiper.
Moreover he
sprinkled with blood both the tabernacle, and all the vessels of the ministry.
In the same way, he
sprinkled with blood the tabernacle and all the vessels used in
worship.
For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers
thereunto perfect.
For the law is only a shadow of the good things to come, not the
realities themselves. It can never, by the same sacrifices offered year after year, make perfect those who draw near to
worship.
For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the
worshippers once
purged should have had no more conscience of sins.
If it could, would not the offerings have ceased? For the
worshipers would have been
cleansed once for all, and would no longer have felt the guilt of their sins.
By faith Jacob, when he was a dying, blessed both the sons of Joseph; and
worshipped,
leaning upon the top of his staff.
By faith Jacob, when he was dying, blessed each of Joseph’s sons and
worshiped as he
leaned on the top of his staff.
Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God
acceptably with reverence and godly fear:
Behold, I will make them of the
synagogue of
Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and
worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.
Look at those who belong to the
synagogue of
Satan, who claim to be Jews but are liars instead. I will make them come and bow down at your feet, and they will know that I love you.
The four and twenty elders fall down before him that sat on the throne, and worship him that liveth for ever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying,
the twenty-four elders fall down before the One seated on the throne, and they
worship Him who lives
forever and ever. They cast their crowns before the throne, saying:
And the four beasts said,
Amen. And the four and twenty elders fell down and
worshipped him that liveth for ever and ever.
And the four living creatures said, “
Amen,” and the elders fell down and
worshiped.
And all the angels stood round about the throne, and about the elders and the four beasts, and fell before the throne on their faces, and worshipped God,
And all the angels stood around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures. And they fell facedown before the throne and worshiped God,
And the rest of the men which were not killed by these plagues yet
repented not of the works of their hands, that they should not
worship devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk:
Now the rest of mankind who were not killed by these plagues still did not
repent of the works of their hands. They did not stop
worshiping demons and idols of gold, silver, bronze, stone, and wood, which cannot see or hear or walk.
And there was given me a reed like unto a rod: and the angel stood, saying, Rise, and measure the temple of God, and the altar, and them that worship therein.
Then I was given a measuring rod like a staff and was told, “Go and measure the temple of God and the altar, and count the number of worshipers there.
And the four and twenty elders, which sat before God on their seats, fell upon their faces, and worshipped God,
And the twenty-four elders who sit on their thrones before God fell on their faces and worshiped God,
And they
worshipped the
dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they
worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?
They
worshiped the
dragon who had given authority to the beast, and they
worshiped the beast, saying, “Who is like the beast, and who can
wage war against it?”
And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
And all who dwell on the earth will worship the beast—all whose names have not been written from the foundation of the world in the Book of Life belonging to the Lamb who was slain.
And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to
worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was
healed.
And this beast exercised all the authority of the first beast and caused the earth and those who dwell in it to
worship the first beast, whose
mortal wound had been
healed.
And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.
The second beast was permitted to give breath to the image of the first beast, so that the image could speak and cause all who refused to worship it to be killed.
Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.
And he said in a loud voice, “Fear God and give Him glory, because the hour of His judgment has come. Worship the One who made the heavens and the earth and the sea and the springs of waters.”
And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man
worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his
forehead, or in his hand,
And a third angel followed them, calling out in a loud voice, “If
anyone worships the beast and its image, and receives its mark on his
forehead or on his hand,
And the smoke of their
torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who
worship the beast and his image, and
whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.
And the smoke of their
torment rises
forever and ever. Day and night there is no rest for those who
worship the beast and its image, or for
anyone who receives the mark of its name.”
Who shall not fear thee, O Lord, and
glorify thy name? for thou only art holy: for all nations shall come and
worship before thee; for thy judgments are made manifest.
Who will not fear You, O Lord, and
glorify Your name? For You alone are holy. All nations will come and
worship before You, for Your righteous acts have been revealed.”
And the first went, and poured out his
vial upon the earth; and there fell a
noisome and
grievous sore upon the men which had the mark of the beast, and upon them which
worshipped his image.
So the first angel went and poured out his
bowl on the earth, and
loathsome,
malignant sores broke out on those who had the mark of the beast and
worshiped its image.
And the four and twenty elders and the four beasts fell down and
worshipped God that sat on the throne, saying,
Amen;
Alleluia.
And the twenty-four elders and the four living creatures fell down and
worshiped God who sits on the throne, saying: “
Amen,
Hallelujah!”
And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.
So I fell at his feet to
worship him. But he told me, “Do not do that! I am a fellow servant with you and your brothers who
rely on the testimony of Jesus.
Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”
And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he
deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that
worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with
brimstone.
But the beast was captured along with the false prophet, who on its behalf had performed signs
deceiving those who had the mark of the beast and
worshiped its image. Both the beast and the false prophet were thrown alive into the
fiery lake of burning sulfur.
And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were
beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not
worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
Then I saw the thrones, and those seated on them had been given authority to judge. And I saw the souls of those who had been
beheaded for their testimony of Jesus and for the word of God, and those who had not
worshiped the beast or its image, and had not received its mark on their foreheads or hands. And they came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years.
And there shall be no more
curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him:
No longer will there be any
curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be within the city, and His servants will
worship Him.
And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which shewed me these things.
And I am John, who heard and saw these things. And when I had heard and seen them, I fell down to worship at the feet of the angel who had shown me these things.
Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God.
But he said to me, “Do not do that! I am a fellow servant with you and your brothers the prophets, and with those who keep the words of this book. Worship God!”
And all the people answered,
Amen; and lifting up their hands they fell to the ground, and
worshipped the Lord.
Then
Tobit said, Thou art
welcome, brother; be not now
angry with me, because I have enquired to know thy tribe and thy family; for thou art my brother, of an
honest and good stock: for I know
Ananias and Jonathas, sons of that great Samaias, as we went together to Jerusalem to
worship, and offered the
firstborn, and the tenths of the fruits; and they were not
seduced with the error of our brethren: my brother, thou art of a good stock.
Yet he did cast down their frontiers, and cut down their groves: for he had decreed to destroy all the gods of the land, that all nations should worship Nabuchodonosor only, and that all tongues and tribes should call upon him as god.
For they left the way of their ancestors, and
worshipped the God of heaven, the God whom they knew: so they cast them out from the face of their gods, and they fled into
Mesopotamia, and
sojourned there many days.
Then the people fell down and
worshipped God, and
cried unto God. saying,
For there arose none in our age, neither is there any now in these days neither tribe, nor family, nor people, nor city among us, which
worship gods made with hands, as hath been
aforetime.
The God, the God of our fathers give thee favour, and
accomplish thine enterprizes to the glory of the children of Israel, and to the
exaltation of Jerusalem. Then they
worshipped God.
Then all the people were wonderfully
astonished, and bowed themselves and
worshipped God, and said with one
accord, Blessed be thou, O our God, which hast this day brought to
nought the enemies of thy people.
Now as soon as they entered into Jerusalem, they
worshipped the Lord; and as soon as the people were
purified, they offered their burnt offerings, and their free offerings, and their gifts.
But I did this, that I might not
prefer the glory of man above the glory of God: neither will I
worship any but thee, O God, neither will I do it in pride.
Because we worshipped their gods: O Lord, thou art righteous.
Thus in process of time an ungodly custom grown strong was kept as a law, and
graven images were
worshipped by the commandments of kings.
For the
worshipping of idols not to be named is the beginning, the cause, and the end, of all evil.
Both they that make them, they that desire them, and they that worship them, are lovers of evil things, and are worthy to have such things to trust upon.
For being
mortal, he worketh a dead thing with wicked hands: for he himself is better than the things which he
worshippeth: whereas he lived once, but they never.
Yea, they
worshipped those beasts also that are most
hateful: for being compared together, some are worse than others.
He directed his heart unto the Lord, and in the time of the ungodly he established the worship of God.
Then all the people together hasted, and fell down to the earth upon their faces to
worship their Lord God
Almighty, the most High.
And they bowed themselves down to worship the second time, that they might receive a blessing from the most High.
For thy name shall be called of God for ever The peace of righteousness, and The glory of God’s worship.
Beware therefore that ye in no wise be like to strangers, neither be ye and of them, when ye see the multitude before them and behind them,
worshipping them.
But say ye in your hearts, O Lord, we must worship thee.
Their gods of wood, and which are overlaid with gold and silver, are like the stones that be
hewn out of the mountain: they that
worship them shall be confounded.
And now we cannot open our mouths, we are become a shame and reproach to thy servants; and to them that worship thee.
O all ye that
worship the Lord,
bless the God of gods, praise him, and give him
thanks: for his mercy endureth for ever.
And the king
worshipped it and went daily to
adore it: but Daniel
worshipped his own God. And the king said unto him, Why
dost not thou
worship Bel?
Who answered and said, Because I may not worship idols made with hands, but the living God, who hath created the heaven and the earth, and hath sovereignty over all flesh.
And in that same place there was a great
dragon, which they of Babylon
worshipped.
And the king said unto Daniel,
Wilt thou also say that this is of brass? lo, he liveth, he eateth and drinketh; thou canst not say that he is no living god: therefore
worship him.
Then said Daniel unto the king, I will worship the Lord my God: for he is the living God.
Then Daniel took pitch, and fat, and hair, and did
seethe them together, and made lumps thereof: this he put in the
dragon’s mouth, and so the
dragon burst in
sunder: and Daniel said, Lo, these are the gods ye
worship.
Then all the people fell upon their faces,
worshipping and praising the God of heaven, who had given them good success.
