against them, he and his servants, by night, and
smote them, and pursued them unto Hobah, which is on the left hand of Damascus.
During the night,
Abram divided his forces and routed
Chedorlaomer’s army, pursuing them as far as Hobah, north of Damascus.
And he took unto him all these, and divided them in the midst, and laid each piece one against another: but the birds divided he not.
So
Abram brought all these to Him, split each of them down the middle, and laid the
halves opposite each other. The birds, however, he did not cut in half.
And he will be a wild man; his hand will be against every man, and every man’s hand against him; and he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren.

everyone’s hand
against him; he will live in hostility toward all his brothers.”

Sodom and
Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very

waxen great before the face of the LORD; and the LORD hath sent us to destroy it.

sinned against you, that you have brought such
tremendous guilt upon me and my kingdom? You have done things to me that should not be done.”

wept.

forget that which thou hast done to him: then I will send, and
fetch thee from thence: why should I be deprived also of you both in one day?

Then Jacob said to
Simeon and Levi, “You have brought trouble upon me by making me a
stench to the
Canaanites and
Perizzites, the people of this land. We are few in number; if they unite
against me and attack me, I and my household will be destroyed.”

against God?”

bondmen, and our
asses.

angry with your servant, for you are equal to Pharaoh himself.
But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.

accomplish a day like this—to preserve the lives of many people.
Come on, let us deal wisely with them; lest they multiply, and it come to pass, that, when there falleth out any war, they join also unto our enemies, and fight against us, and so get them up out of the land.
Come, let us deal
shrewdly with them, or they will increase even more; and if a war breaks out, they may join our enemies, fight
against us, and leave the country.”
And the anger of the LORD was
kindled against Moses, and he said, Is not Aaron the

Then the anger of the LORD burned
against Moses, and He said, “Is not Aaron the
Levite your brother? I know that he can speak well, and he is now on his way to meet you. When he sees you, he will be
glad in his heart.

against any of the children of Israel shall not a dog move his tongue,
against man or beast: that ye may know how that the LORD
doth put a difference between the Egyptians and Israel.
But among all the Israelites, not even a dog will
snarl at man or beast.’ Then you will know that the LORD makes a distinction between Egypt and Israel.
For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will
smite all the
firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and
against all the gods of Egypt I will
execute judgment: I am the LORD.
On that night I will pass through the land of Egypt and strike down every
firstborn male, both man and beast, and I will
execute judgment
against all the gods of Egypt. I am the LORD.
Speak unto the children of Israel, that they turn and
encamp before
Pi-hahiroth, between
Migdol and the sea, over
against Baal-zephon: before it shall ye
encamp by the sea.
“Tell the Israelites to turn back and
encamp before
Pi-hahiroth, between
Migdol and the sea. You are to
encamp by the sea, directly opposite
Baal-zephon.
And it was told the king of Egypt that the people fled: and the heart of Pharaoh and of his servants was turned against the people, and they said, Why have we done this, that we have let Israel go from serving us?
When the king of Egypt was told that the people had fled, Pharaoh and his officials changed their minds about them and said, “What have we done? We have released Israel from serving us.”
And took off their
chariot wheels, that they
drave them
heavily: so that the Egyptians said, Let us
flee from the face of Israel; for the LORD fighteth for them
against the Egyptians.
He caused their
chariot wheels to
wobble, so that they had difficulty driving. “Let us
flee from the Israelites,” said the Egyptians, “for the LORD is fighting for them
against Egypt!”
And Moses stretched forth his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to his strength when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians fled against it; and the LORD overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea.

daybreak the sea returned to its normal state. As the Egyptians were retreating, the LORD swept them into the sea.
And in the greatness of thine
excellency thou hast overthrown them that rose up
against thee: thou sentest forth thy wrath, which consumed them as
stubble.
You overthrew Your
adversaries by Your great majesty. You unleashed Your burning wrath; it consumed them like
stubble.
And the people
murmured against Moses, saying, What shall we drink?
So the people grumbled against Moses, saying, “What are we to drink?”
And the whole congregation of the children of Israel
murmured against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness:
And there in the desert they all grumbled against Moses and Aaron.
And in the morning, then ye shall see the glory of the LORD; for that he heareth your murmurings
against the LORD: and what are we, that ye
murmur against us?
and in the morning you will see the LORD’s glory, because He has heard your
grumbling against Him. For who are we that you should
grumble against us?”
And Moses said, This shall be, when the LORD shall give you in the evening flesh to eat, and in the morning bread to the full; for that the LORD heareth your murmurings which ye
murmur against him: and what are we? your murmurings are not
against us, but
against the LORD.
And Moses added, “The LORD will give you meat to eat this evening and bread to fill you in the morning, for He has heard your
grumbling against Him. Who are we? Your grumblings are not
against us but
against the LORD.”
And the people
thirsted there for water; and the people
murmured against Moses, and said, Wherefore is this that thou hast brought us up out of Egypt, to kill us and our children and our cattle with
thirst?
But the people
thirsted for water there, and they grumbled
against Moses: “Why have you brought us out of Egypt—to make us and our children and
livestock die of
thirst?”
So Joshua did as Moses had said to him, and fought with Amalek: and Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill.
Joshua did as Moses had
instructed him and fought
against the
Amalekites, while Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill.
For he said, Because the LORD hath
sworn that the LORD will have war with Amalek from generation to generation.
“Indeed,” he said, “a hand was lifted up toward the throne of the LORD. The LORD will war against Amalek from generation to generation.”
And be ready
against the third day: for the third day the LORD will come down in the sight of all the people upon mount
Sinai.
and be prepared by the third day, for on the third day the LORD will come down on Mount
Sinai in the sight of all the people.
And he said unto the people, Be ready against the third day: come not at your wives.
“Be prepared for the third day,” he said to the people. “Do not draw near to a woman.”
And let the priests also, which come near to the LORD,
sanctify themselves, lest the LORD break forth upon them.
Even the priests who approach the LORD must
consecrate themselves, or the LORD will break out
against them.”
And the LORD said unto him, Away, get thee down, and thou shalt come up, thou, and Aaron with thee: but let not the priests and the people break through to come up unto the LORD, lest he break forth upon them.
And the LORD replied, “Go down and bring Aaron with you. But the priests and the people must not break through to come up to the LORD, or He will break out against them.”
Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
You shall not bear false witness
against your
neighbor.
But if a man come
presumptuously upon his neighbour, to
slay him with
guile; thou shalt take him from mine altar, that he may die.
But if a man schemes and acts
willfully against his
neighbor to kill him, you must take him away from My altar to be put to death.
I will not drive them out from before thee in one year; lest the land become
desolate, and the beast of the field multiply
against thee.
I will not drive them out before you in a single year; otherwise the land would become
desolate and wild animals would multiply
against you.
They shall not dwell in thy land, lest they make thee sin
against me: for if thou serve their gods, it will surely be a
snare unto thee.
They must not remain in your land, lest they cause you to sin
against Me. For if you serve their gods, it will surely be a
snare to you.”
Over
against the border shall the rings be for places of the
staves to bear the table.
The rings are to be close to the
rim, to serve as holders for the poles used to carry the table.
And thou shalt make the seven lamps thereof: and they shall light the lamps thereof, that they may give light over against it.
Make seven lamps and set them up on the lampstand so that they
illuminate the area in front of it.
Two tenons shall there be in one board, set in order one against another: thus shalt thou make for all the boards of the tabernacle.
Two tenons must be connected to each other for each frame. Make all the frames of the tabernacle in this way.
And thou shalt set the table without the
vail, and the
candlestick over
against the table on the side of the tabernacle toward the south: and thou shalt put the table on the north side.
And place the table outside the
veil on the north side of the tabernacle, and put the lampstand opposite the table, on the south side.
And two other rings of gold thou shalt make, and shalt put them on the two sides of the
ephod underneath, toward the
forepart thereof, over
against the other coupling thereof, above the curious
girdle of the
ephod.
Make two additional gold rings and
attach them to the bottom of the two shoulder pieces of the
ephod, on its front, near its
seam just above its
woven waistband.
Now therefore let me alone, that my wrath may wax hot
against them, and that I may
consume them: and I will make of thee a great nation.
Now leave Me alone, so that My anger may burn
against them and
consume them. Then I will make you into a great nation.”
And Moses
besought the LORD his God, and said, LORD, why
doth thy wrath wax hot
against thy people, which thou hast brought forth out of the land of Egypt with great power, and with a mighty hand?
But Moses sought the favor of the LORD his God, saying, “O LORD, why does Your anger burn against Your people, whom You brought out of the land of Egypt with great power and a mighty hand?
Wherefore should the Egyptians speak, and say, For mischief did he bring them out, to
slay them in the mountains, and to
consume them from the face of the earth? Turn from thy fierce wrath, and
repent of this evil
against thy people.
Why should the Egyptians declare, ‘He brought them out with evil intent, to kill them in the mountains and
wipe them from the face of the earth’? Turn from Your fierce anger and relent from doing
harm to Your people.
For Moses had said,
Consecrate yourselves to day to the LORD, even every man upon his son, and upon his brother; that he may
bestow upon you a blessing this day.
Afterward, Moses said, “
Today you have been ordained for service to the LORD, since each man went
against his son and his brother; so the LORD has bestowed a blessing on you this day.”
And the LORD said unto Moses,
Whosoever hath
sinned against me, him will I
blot out of my book.
The LORD replied to Moses, “
Whoever has
sinned against Me, I will
blot out of My book.
Over
against the border were the rings, the places for the
staves to bear the table.
The rings were placed close to the
rim, to serve as holders for the poles used to carry the table.
And they made two other golden rings, and put them on the two sides of the
ephod underneath, toward the
forepart of it, over
against the other coupling thereof, above the curious
girdle of the
ephod.
They made two additional gold rings and attached them to the bottom of the two shoulder pieces of the
ephod, on its front, near the
seam just above its
woven waistband.
And he put the
candlestick in the tent of the congregation, over
against the table, on the side of the tabernacle southward.
He also placed the lampstand in the Tent of Meeting opposite the table on the south side of the tabernacle
And he shall kill it on the side of the altar northward before the LORD: and the priests, Aaron’s sons, shall
sprinkle his blood round about upon the altar.
He shall slaughter it on the north side of the altar before the LORD, and Aaron’s sons the priests are to
sprinkle its blood
against the altar on all sides.
Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If a soul shall sin through ignorance against any of the commandments of the LORD concerning things which ought not to be done, and shall do against any of them:
“Tell the Israelites to do as follows with one who sins
unintentionally against any of the LORD’s commandments and does what is forbidden by them:
And if the whole congregation of Israel sin through ignorance, and the thing be
hid from the eyes of the assembly, and they have done somewhat
against any of the commandments of the LORD concerning things which should not be done, and are guilty;
Now if the whole congregation of Israel strays
unintentionally and the matter escapes the notice of the assembly so that they
violate any of the LORD’s commandments and
incur guilt by doing what is forbidden,
When the sin, which they have
sinned against it, is known, then the congregation shall offer a young
bullock for the sin, and bring him before the tabernacle of the congregation.
when they become aware of the sin they have committed, then the assembly must bring a young bull as a sin offering and present it before the Tent of Meeting.
When a ruler hath
sinned, and done somewhat through ignorance
against any of the commandments of the LORD his God concerning things which should not be done, and is guilty;
When a leader sins
unintentionally and does what is prohibited by any of the commandments of the LORD his God, he incurs guilt.
And if any one of the common people sin through ignorance, while he doeth somewhat against any of the commandments of the LORD concerning things which ought not to be done, and be guilty;
And if one of the common people sins
unintentionally and does what is prohibited by any of the LORD’s commandments, he incurs guilt.
If a soul commit a
trespass, and sin through ignorance, in the holy things of the LORD; then he shall bring for his
trespass unto the LORD a ram without
blemish out of the flocks, with thy
estimation by shekels of silver, after the
shekel of the sanctuary, for a
trespass offering:
“If someone acts unfaithfully and sins
unintentionally against any of the LORD’s holy things, he must bring his guilt offering to the LORD: an
unblemished ram from the flock, of proper value in silver shekels according to the sanctuary
shekel; it is a guilt offering.
It is a guilt offering; he was certainly guilty before the LORD.”
If a soul sin, and commit a
trespass against the LORD, and lie unto his neighbour in that which was delivered him to keep, or in
fellowship, or in a thing taken away by violence, or hath
deceived his neighbour;
“If someone sins and acts unfaithfully
against the LORD by
deceiving his
neighbor in regard to a deposit or security entrusted to him or
stolen, or if he extorts his
neighbor Then shall he kill the goat of the sin offering, that is for the people, and bring his blood within the
vail, and do with that blood as he did with the blood of the
bullock, and
sprinkle it upon the mercy seat, and before the mercy seat:
Aaron shall then slaughter the goat for the sin offering for the people and bring its blood behind the
veil, and with its blood he must do as he did with the bull’s blood: He is to
sprinkle it
against the mercy seat and in front of it.
And
whatsoever man there be of the house of Israel, or of the strangers that
sojourn among you, that eateth any manner of blood; I will even set my face
against that soul that eateth blood, and will cut him off from among his people.
If
anyone from the house of Israel or a foreigner living among them eats any blood, I will set My face
against that person and cut him off from among his people.
Thou shalt not go up and down as a
talebearer among thy people: neither shalt thou stand
against the blood of thy neighbour: I am the LORD.
You must not go about spreading
slander among your people. You must not
endanger the life of your
neighbor. I am the LORD.
Thou shalt not
hate thy brother in thine heart: thou shalt in any wise
rebuke thy neighbour, and not suffer sin upon him.
You must not
harbor hatred
against your brother in your heart. Directly
rebuke your
neighbor, so that you will not
incur guilt on account of him.
Thou shalt not
avenge, nor bear any
grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as
thyself: I am the LORD.
And I will set my face
against that man, and will cut him off from among his people; because he hath given of his seed unto
Molech, to
defile my sanctuary, and to
profane my holy name.
And I will set My face
against that man and cut him off from his people, because by giving his offspring to
Molech, he has
defiled My sanctuary and
profaned My holy name.
Then I will set my face
against that man, and
against his family, and will cut him off, and all that go a
whoring after him, to commit
whoredom with
Molech, from among their people.
then I will set My face
against that man and his family and cut off from among their people both him and all who follow him in
prostituting themselves with
Molech.
And the soul that turneth after such as have familiar spirits, and after wizards, to go a
whoring after them, I will even set my face
against that soul, and will cut him off from among his people.
Whoever turns to mediums or spiritists to
prostitute himself with them, I will also set My face
against that person and cut him off from his people.
And I will set my face
against you, and ye shall be slain before your enemies: they that
hate you shall reign over you; and ye shall
flee when none pursueth you.
And I will set My face
against you, so that you will be defeated by your enemies. Those who
hate you will rule over you, and you will
flee when no one pursues you.
I will also send wild beasts among you, which shall
rob you of your children, and destroy your cattle, and make you few in number; and your high ways shall be
desolate.
I will send wild animals
against you to
rob you of your children, destroy your
livestock, and reduce your numbers, until your roads lie
desolate.
And I will bring a sword upon you, that shall
avenge the quarrel of my covenant: and when ye are gathered together within your cities, I will send the
pestilence among you; and ye shall be delivered into the hand of the enemy.
And I will bring a sword
against you to
execute the
vengeance of the covenant. Though you withdraw into your cities, I will send a plague among you, and you will be delivered into the hand of the enemy.
Then I will walk contrary unto you also in
fury; and I, even I, will
chastise you seven times for your sins.
And they shall fall one upon another, as it were before a sword, when none pursueth: and ye shall have no power to stand before your enemies.
They will
stumble over one another as before the sword, though no one is behind them. So you will not be able to stand
against your enemies.
If they shall
confess their iniquity, and the iniquity of their fathers, with their
trespass which they
trespassed against me, and that also they have walked contrary unto me;
But if they will
confess their iniquity and that of their fathers in the unfaithfulness that they practiced
against Me, by which they have also walked in hostility toward Me—
Speak unto the children of Israel, When a man or woman shall commit any sin that men commit, to do a
trespass against the LORD, and that person be guilty;
“Tell the Israelites that when a man or woman acts unfaithfully
against the LORD by
committing any sin
against another, that person is guilty
Then they shall
confess their sin which they have done: and he shall
recompense his
trespass with the principal thereof, and add unto it the fifth part thereof, and give it unto him
against whom he hath
trespassed.
and must
confess the sin he has committed. He must make full
restitution, add a fifth to its value, and give all this to the one he has wronged.
Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, If any man’s wife go aside, and commit a
trespass against him,
“Speak to the Israelites and tell them that if any man’s wife goes
astray and is unfaithful to him
And a man lie with her
carnally, and it be
hid from the eyes of her husband, and be kept close, and she be
defiled, and there be no witness
against her, neither she be taken with the manner;
by sleeping with another man, and it is concealed from her husband and her impurity is undetected (since there is no witness against her and she was not caught in the act),
And when he hath made her to drink the water, then it shall come to pass, that, if she be
defiled, and have done
trespass against her husband, that the water that causeth the
curse shall enter into her, and become bitter, and her
belly shall swell, and her
thigh shall
rot: and the woman shall be a
curse among her people.
When he has made her drink the water, if she has
defiled herself and been unfaithful to her husband, then the water that brings a
curse will enter her and cause bitter suffering; her
belly will swell, her
thigh will
shrivel, and she will become
accursed among her people.
Speak unto Aaron, and say unto him, When thou lightest the lamps, the seven lamps shall give light over
against the
candlestick.
“Speak to Aaron and tell him: ‘When you set up the seven lamps, they are to light the area in front of the lampstand.’”
And Aaron did so; he lighted the lamps thereof over
against the
candlestick, as the LORD commanded Moses.
And Aaron did so; he set up the lamps facing toward the front of the lampstand, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.
