And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
Now the earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep. And the Spirit of God was
hovering over the surface of the waters.
And God said, Behold, I have given you every
herb bearing seed, which is upon the
face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.
Then God said, “Behold, I have given you every seed-bearing plant on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit contains seed. They will be yours for food.
But there went up a
mist from the earth, and watered the whole
face of the ground.
But springs welled up from the earth and watered the whole surface of the ground.
In the
sweat of thy
face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it
wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.
By the
sweat of your
brow you will eat your bread, until you return to the ground— because out of it were you taken. For dust you are, and to dust you shall return.”
Behold, thou hast driven me out this day from the
face of the earth; and from thy
face shall I be
hid; and I shall be a
fugitive and a
vagabond in the earth; and it shall come to pass, that every one that findeth me shall
slay me.
Behold, this day You have driven me from the
face of the earth, and from Your
face I will be hidden; I will be a
fugitive and a
wanderer on the earth, and
whoever finds me will kill me.”
And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them,
Now when men began to multiply on the face of the earth and daughters were born to them,
And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the
face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the
creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.
So the LORD said, “I will
blot out man, whom I have created, from the
face of the earth—every man and beast and
crawling creature and bird of the air—for I am
grieved that I have made them.”
Of fowls also of the air by sevens, the male and the female; to keep seed alive upon the face of all the earth.
and seven pairs of every kind of bird of the air, male and female, to preserve their offspring on the face of all the earth.
For yet seven days, and I will cause it to rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights; and every living substance that I have made will I destroy from off the face of the earth.
For seven days from now I will send rain on the earth for forty days and forty nights, and I will
wipe from the
face of the earth every living thing I have made.”
And the waters prevailed, and were increased greatly upon the earth; and the ark went upon the face of the waters.
So the waters continued to
surge and rise greatly on the earth, and the ark
floated on the surface of the waters.
And every living substance was destroyed which was upon the
face of the ground, both man, and cattle, and the
creeping things, and the fowl of the heaven; and they were destroyed from the earth: and
Noah only remained alive, and they that were with him in the ark.
And every living thing on the
face of the earth was destroyed—man and
livestock,
crawling creatures and birds of the air; they were
blotted out from the earth, and only
Noah and those with him in the ark remained.
Also he sent forth a
dove from him, to see if the waters were
abated from off the
face of the ground;
Then
Noah sent out a
dove to see if the waters had
receded from the surface of the ground.
But the
dove found no rest for the sole of her foot, and she returned unto him into the ark, for the waters were on the
face of the whole earth: then he put forth his hand, and took her, and pulled her in unto him into the ark.
But the
dove found no place to rest her foot, and she returned to him in the ark, because the waters were still covering the surface of all the earth. So he reached out his hand and brought her back inside the ark.
And it came to pass in the six
hundredth and first year, in the first month, the first day of the month, the waters were dried up from off the earth: and
Noah removed the covering of the ark, and looked, and, behold, the
face of the ground was dry.
In
Noah’s six hundred and first year, on the first day of the first month, the waters had dried up from the earth. So
Noah removed the covering from the ark and saw that the surface of the ground was dry.
And
Shem and
Japheth took a garment, and laid it upon both their shoulders, and went backward, and covered the nakedness of their father; and their
faces were backward, and they saw not their father’s nakedness.
Then
Shem and
Japheth took a garment and placed it across their shoulders, and walking backward, they covered their father’s nakedness. Their
faces were turned away so that they did not see their father’s nakedness.
And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.
“Come,” they said, “let us build for ourselves a city with a tower that reaches to the heavens, that we may make a name for ourselves and not be scattered over the face of all the earth.”
So the LORD scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city.
So the LORD scattered them from there over the face of all the earth, and they stopped building the city.
Therefore is the name of it called
Babel; because the LORD did there
confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the LORD
scatter them abroad upon the
face of all the earth.
That is why it is called
Babel, for there the LORD confused the language of the whole world, and from that place the LORD scattered them over the
face of all the earth.
But
Abram said unto Sarai, Behold, thy
maid is in thy hand; do to her as it pleaseth thee. And when Sarai dealt hardly with her, she fled from her
face.
“Here,” said
Abram, “your servant is in your hands. Do whatever you want with her.” Then Sarai treated
Hagar so harshly that she fled from her.
“
Hagar, servant of Sarai,” he said, “where have you come from, and where are you going?” “I am running away from my
mistress Sarai,” she replied.
And
Abram fell on his
face: and God talked with him, saying,
Then
Abram fell
facedown, and God said to him,
Then Abraham fell upon his
face, and
laughed, and said in his heart, Shall a child be born unto him that is an hundred years old? and shall
Sarah, that is
ninety years old, bear?
Abraham fell
facedown. Then he
laughed and said to himself, “Can a child be born to a man who is a hundred years old? Can
Sarah give birth at the age of
ninety?”
And the men turned their
faces from thence, and went toward
Sodom: but Abraham stood yet before the LORD.
And the two men turned away and went toward
Sodom, but Abraham remained standing before the LORD.
And there came two angels to
Sodom at even; and Lot sat in the gate of
Sodom: and Lot seeing them rose up to meet them; and he bowed himself with his
face toward the ground;
Now the two angels arrived at
Sodom in the evening, and Lot was sitting in the
gateway of the city. When Lot saw them, he got up to meet them, bowed
facedown,
For we will destroy this place, because the cry of them is
waxen great before the
face of the LORD; and the LORD hath sent us to destroy it.
because we are about to destroy this place. For the outcry to the LORD against its people is so great that He has sent us to destroy it.”
And I asked her, and said, Whose daughter art thou? And she said, The daughter of
Bethuel,
Nahor’s son, whom Milcah bare unto him: and I put the
earring upon her
face, and the bracelets upon her hands.
Then I asked her, ‘Whose daughter are you?’ She replied, ‘The daughter of
Bethuel son of
Nahor, whom Milcah bore to him.’ So I put the ring on her nose and the bracelets on her wrists.
So shall my righteousness answer for me in time to come, when it shall come for my
hire before thy
face: every one that is not
speckled and
spotted among the goats, and brown among the sheep, that shall be counted
stolen with me.
So my
honesty will
testify for me when you come to check on my wages in the future. If I have any goats that are not
speckled or
spotted, or any lambs that are not dark-colored, they will be considered
stolen.”
And Jacob did separate the lambs, and set the
faces of the flocks toward the
ringstraked, and all the brown in the flock of
Laban; and he put his own flocks by themselves, and put them not unto
Laban’s cattle.
Jacob set apart the young, but made the rest
face the
streaked dark-colored sheep in
Laban’s flocks. Then he set his own stock apart and did not put them with
Laban’s animals.
So he fled with all that he had; and he rose up, and passed over the river, and set his
face toward the mount
Gilead.
So he fled with all his possessions, crossed the Euphrates, and headed for the hill country of
Gilead.
And say ye moreover, Behold, thy servant Jacob is behind us. For he said, I will
appease him with the present that goeth before me, and afterward I will see his
face;
peradventure he will accept of me.
You are also to say, ‘Look, your servant Jacob is right behind us.’” For he thought, “I will
appease Esau with the gift that is going before me. After that I can
face him, and perhaps he will accept me.”
And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.
So Jacob named the place Peniel, saying, “Indeed, I have seen God
face to
face, and yet my life was
spared.”
And Jacob said,
Nay, I pray thee, if now I have found grace in thy sight, then receive my present at my hand: for therefore I have seen thy
face, as though I had seen the
face of God, and thou
wast pleased with me.
But Jacob insisted, “No, please! If I have found favor in your sight, then receive this gift from my hand. For indeed, I have seen your
face, and it is like seeing the
face of God, since you have received me
favorably.
And God said unto Jacob, Arise, go up to
Bethel, and dwell there: and make there an altar unto God, that appeared unto thee when thou fleddest from the
face of
Esau thy brother.
Then God said to Jacob, “Arise, go up to
Bethel, and settle there. Build an altar there to the God who appeared to you when you fled from your brother
Esau.”
And he built there an altar, and called the place El-beth-el: because there God appeared unto him, when he fled from the face of his brother.
There Jacob built an altar, and he called that place El-
bethel, because it was there that God had revealed Himself to Jacob as he fled from his brother.
And
Esau took his wives, and his sons, and his daughters, and all the persons of his house, and his cattle, and all his beasts, and all his substance, which he had got in the land of
Canaan; and went into the country from the
face of his brother Jacob.
Later,
Esau took his wives and sons and daughters and all the people of his household, along with his
livestock, all his other animals, and all the property he had acquired in
Canaan, and he moved to a land far away from his brother Jacob.
And she put her widow’s garments off from her, and covered her with a
vail, and
wrapped herself, and sat in an open place, which is by the way to Timnath; for she saw that Shelah was grown, and she was not given unto him to wife.
she removed her widow’s garments, covered her
face with a
veil to
disguise herself, and sat at the entrance to Enaim, which is on the way to Timnah. For she saw that although Shelah had grown up, she had not been given to him as a wife.
When Judah saw her, he thought her to be an
harlot; because she had covered her
face.
When Judah saw her, he thought she was a
prostitute because she had covered her
face.
And he asked Pharaoh’s officers that were with him in the ward of his lord’s house, saying, Wherefore look ye so
sadly to day?
So he asked the officials of Pharaoh who were in
custody with him in his master’s house, “Why are your
faces so
downcast today?”
And the famine was over all the
face of the earth: and Joseph opened all the storehouses, and sold unto the Egyptians; and the famine waxed
sore in the land of Egypt.
When the famine had spread over all the land, Joseph opened up all the storehouses and sold grain to the Egyptians; for the famine was severe in the land of Egypt.
And Joseph was the governor over the land, and he it was that sold to all the people of the land: and Joseph’s brethren came, and bowed down themselves before him with their faces to the earth.
Now Joseph was the ruler of the land; he was the one who sold grain to all its people. So when his brothers arrived, they bowed down before him with their faces to the ground.
And Judah spake unto him, saying, The man did solemnly
protest unto us, saying, Ye shall not see my
face, except your brother be with you.
But Judah replied, “The man solemnly
warned us, ‘You will not see my
face again unless your brother is with you.’
But if thou
wilt not send him, we will not go down: for the man said unto us, Ye shall not see my
face, except your brother be with you.
But if you will not send him, we will not go; for the man told us, ‘You will not see my face again unless your brother is with you.’”
And he washed his
face, and went out, and
refrained himself, and said, Set on bread.
Then he washed his
face and came back out. Regaining his
composure, he said, “Serve the meal.”
And thou saidst unto thy servants, Except your youngest brother come down with you, ye shall see my face no more.
But you said to your servants, ‘Unless your younger brother comes down with you, you will not see my face again.’
And we said, We cannot go down: if our youngest brother be with us, then will we go down: for we may not see the man’s face, except our youngest brother be with us.
But we answered, ‘We cannot go down there unless our younger brother goes with us. So if our younger brother is not with us, we cannot see the man.’
And he sent Judah before him unto Joseph, to direct his
face unto
Goshen; and they came into the land of
Goshen.
Now Jacob had sent Judah
ahead of him to Joseph to get directions to
Goshen. When Jacob’s family arrived in the land of
Goshen,
And Israel said unto Joseph, Now let me die, since I have seen thy face, because thou art yet alive.
Then Israel said to Joseph, “Finally I can die, now that I have seen your face and know that you are still alive!”
And Israel said unto Joseph, I had not thought to see thy face: and, lo, God hath shewed me also thy seed.
“I never expected to see your face again,” Israel said to Joseph, “but now God has let me see your children as well.”
And Joseph brought them out from between his knees, and he bowed himself with his face to the earth.
Then Joseph removed his sons from his father’s knees and bowed facedown.
And Joseph fell upon his father’s
face, and
wept upon him, and
kissed him.
Then Joseph fell upon his father’s
face,
wept over him, and
kissed him.
And his brethren also went and fell down before his face; and they said, Behold, we be thy servants.
His brothers also came to him, bowed down before him, and said, “We are your slaves!”
Now when Pharaoh heard this thing, he sought to
slay Moses. But Moses fled from the
face of Pharaoh, and dwelt in the land of
Midian: and he sat down by a well.
When Pharaoh heard about this matter, he sought to kill Moses. But Moses fled from Pharaoh and settled in the land of
Midian, where he sat down beside a well.
Moreover he said, I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses
hid his
face; for he was afraid to look upon God.
Then He said, “I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” At this, Moses
hid his
face, for he was afraid to look at God.
And they shall cover the
face of the earth, that one cannot be able to see the earth: and they shall eat the residue of that which is escaped, which remaineth unto you from the
hail, and shall eat every tree which groweth for you out of the field:
They will cover the
face of the land so that no one can see it. They will
devour whatever is left after the
hail and eat every tree that grows in your fields.
For they covered the
face of the whole earth, so that the land was
darkened; and they did eat every
herb of the land, and all the fruit of the trees which the
hail had left: and there remained not any green thing in the trees, or in the herbs of the field, through all the land of Egypt.
They covered the
face of all the land until it was black, and they consumed all the plants on the ground and all the fruit on the trees that the
hail had left behind. Nothing green was left on any tree or plant in all the land of Egypt.
And Pharaoh said unto him, Get thee from me, take
heed to
thyself, see my
face no more; for in that day thou seest my
face thou shalt die.
“Depart from me!” Pharaoh said to Moses. “Make sure you never see my face again, for on the day you see my face, you will die.”
And Moses said, Thou hast spoken well, I will see thy face again no more.
“As you say,” Moses replied, “I will never see your face again.”
And it came to pass, when Pharaoh had let the people go, that God led them not through the way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near; for God said, Lest
peradventure the people
repent when they see war, and they return to Egypt:
When Pharaoh let the people go, God did not lead them along the road through the land of the Philistines, though it was shorter. For God said, “If the people face war, they might change their minds and return to Egypt.”
And the angel of God, which went before the camp of Israel, removed and went behind them; and the
pillar of the cloud went from before their
face, and stood behind them:
And the angel of God, who had gone before the camp of Israel, withdrew and went behind them. The
pillar of cloud also moved from before them and stood behind them,
And took off their
chariot wheels, that they
drave them
heavily: so that the Egyptians said, Let us
flee from the
face of Israel; for the LORD fighteth for them against the Egyptians.
He caused their
chariot wheels to
wobble, so that they had difficulty driving. “Let us
flee from the Israelites,” said the Egyptians, “for the LORD is fighting for them against Egypt!”
And when the
dew that lay was gone up, behold, upon the
face of the wilderness there lay a small round thing, as small as the
hoar frost on the ground.
When the layer of
dew had
evaporated, there were thin flakes on the desert floor, as fine as
frost on the ground.
And Moses came and called for the elders of the people, and laid before their faces all these words which the LORD commanded him.
So Moses went back and summoned the elders of the people and set before them all these words that the LORD had commanded him.
And Moses said unto the people, Fear not: for God is come to prove you, and that his fear may be before your faces, that ye sin not.
“Do not be afraid,” Moses replied. “For God has come to test you, so that the fear of Him may be before you, to keep you from
sinning.”
And the
cherubim shall stretch forth their wings on high, covering the mercy seat with their wings, and their
faces shall look one to another; toward the mercy seat shall the
faces of the cherubims be.
And the
cherubim are to have wings that spread upward, overshadowing the mercy seat. The
cherubim are to
face each other, looking toward the mercy seat.
Wherefore should the Egyptians speak, and say, For mischief did he bring them out, to
slay them in the mountains, and to
consume them from the
face of the earth? Turn from thy fierce wrath, and
repent of this evil against thy people.
Why should the Egyptians declare, ‘He brought them out with evil intent, to kill them in the mountains and
wipe them from the
face of the earth’? Turn from Your fierce anger and relent from doing
harm to Your people.
And he took the
calf which they had made, and burnt it in the fire, and ground it to powder, and strawed it upon the water, and made the children of Israel drink of it.
Then he took the
calf they had made, burned it in the fire, ground it to powder, and scattered the powder over the
face of the water. Then he forced the Israelites to drink it.
And the LORD spake unto Moses
face to
face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. And he turned again into the camp: but his servant Joshua, the son of
Nun, a young man, departed not out of the tabernacle.
Thus the LORD would speak to Moses
face to
face, as a man speaks to his friend. Then Moses would return to the camp, but his young assistant Joshua son of
Nun would not leave the tent.
For wherein shall it be known here that I and thy people have found grace in thy sight? is it not in that thou goest with us? so shall we be separated, I and thy people, from all the people that are upon the face of the earth.
For how then can it be known that Your people and I have found favor in Your sight, unless You go with us? How else will we be distinguished from all the other people on the face of the earth?”
And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live.
But He added, “You cannot see My face, for no one can see Me and live.”
And I will take away mine hand, and thou shalt see my back parts: but my face shall not be seen.
Then I will take My hand away, and you will see My back; but My face must not be seen.”
And no man shall come up with thee, neither let any man be seen throughout all the mount; neither let the flocks nor herds feed before that mount.
No one may go up with you; in
fact, no one may be seen
anywhere on the mountain—not even the flocks or herds may
graze in front of the mountain.”
And it came to pass, when Moses came down from mount
Sinai with the two tables of testimony in Moses’ hand, when he came down from the mount, that Moses
wist not that the skin of his
face shone while he talked with him.
And when Moses came down from Mount
Sinai with the two tablets of the Testimony in his hands, he was unaware that his
face had become
radiant from speaking with the LORD.
And when Aaron and all the children of Israel saw Moses, behold, the skin of his
face shone; and they were afraid to come
nigh him.
Aaron and all the Israelites looked at Moses, and behold, his
face was
radiant. And they were afraid to approach him.
And till Moses had done speaking with them, he put a
vail on his
face.
When Moses had finished speaking with them, he put a
veil over his
face.
And the children of Israel saw the
face of Moses, that the skin of Moses’
face shone: and Moses put the
vail upon his
face again, until he went in to speak with him.
and the Israelites would see that the
face of Moses was
radiant. So Moses would put the
veil back over his
face until he went in to speak with the LORD.
And the cherubims spread out their wings on high, and covered with their wings over the mercy seat, with their faces one to another; even to the mercy seatward were the faces of the cherubims.
And the
cherubim had wings that spread upward, overshadowing the mercy seat. The
cherubim faced each other, looking toward the mercy seat.
And there came a fire out from before the LORD, and consumed upon the altar the burnt offering and the fat: which when all the people saw, they
shouted, and fell on their
faces.
Fire came out from the presence of the LORD and consumed the burnt offering and the fat portions on the altar. And when all the people saw it, they
shouted for joy and fell
facedown.
And he that hath his hair fallen off from the part of his head toward his
face, he is
forehead bald: yet is he clean.
Or if his hairline recedes and he is
bald on his
forehead, he is still clean.
And
whatsoever man there be of the house of Israel, or of the strangers that
sojourn among you, that eateth any manner of blood; I will even set my
face against that soul that eateth blood, and will cut him off from among his people.
If
anyone from the house of Israel or a foreigner living among them eats any blood, I will set My
face against that person and cut him off from among his people.
Thou shalt rise up before the
hoary head, and honour the
face of the old man, and fear thy God: I am the LORD.
You are to rise in the presence of the elderly, honor the aged, and fear your God. I am the LORD.
And I will set my
face against that man, and will cut him off from among his people; because he hath given of his seed unto
Molech, to
defile my sanctuary, and to
profane my holy name.
And I will set My
face against that man and cut him off from his people, because by giving his offspring to
Molech, he has
defiled My sanctuary and
profaned My holy name.
Then I will set my
face against that man, and against his family, and will cut him off, and all that go a
whoring after him, to commit
whoredom with
Molech, from among their people.
then I will set My
face against that man and his family and cut off from among their people both him and all who follow him in
prostituting themselves with
Molech.
And the soul that turneth after such as have familiar spirits, and after wizards, to go a
whoring after them, I will even set my
face against that soul, and will cut him off from among his people.
Whoever turns to mediums or spiritists to
prostitute himself with them, I will also set My
face against that person and cut him off from his people.
And I will set my
face against you, and ye shall be slain before your enemies: they that
hate you shall reign over you; and ye shall
flee when none pursueth you.
And I will set My
face against you, so that you will be defeated by your enemies. Those who
hate you will rule over you, and you will
flee when no one pursues you.
The LORD make his
face shine upon thee, and be
gracious unto thee:
may the LORD cause His
face to
shine upon you and be
gracious to you;
And Aaron did so; he lighted the lamps thereof over against the
candlestick, as the LORD commanded Moses.
And Aaron did so; he set up the lamps facing toward the front of the lampstand, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.
And there went forth a wind from the LORD, and brought quails from the sea, and let them fall by the camp, as it were a day’s journey on this side, and as it were a day’s journey on the other side, round about the camp, and as it were two cubits high upon the face of the earth.
Now a wind sent by the LORD came up, drove in
quail from the sea, and brought them near the camp, about two cubits above the surface of the ground, for a day’s journey in every direction around the camp.
(Now the man Moses was very
meek, above all the men which were upon the
face of the earth.)
Now Moses was a very humble man, more so than any man on the face of the earth.
With him will I speak mouth to mouth, even apparently, and not in dark speeches; and the
similitude of the LORD shall he behold: wherefore then were ye not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?
I speak with him
face to
face, clearly and not in
riddles; he sees the form of the LORD. Why then were you unafraid to speak against My servant Moses?”
And the LORD said unto Moses, If her father had but
spit in her
face, should she not be
ashamed seven days? let her be shut out from the camp seven days, and after that let her be received in again.
But the LORD answered Moses, “If her father had but
spit in her
face, would she not have been in disgrace for seven days? Let her be confined outside the camp for seven days; after that she may be brought back in.”
Then Moses and Aaron fell on their faces before all the assembly of the congregation of the children of Israel.
Then Moses and Aaron fell facedown before the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel.
And they will tell it to the inhabitants of this land: for they have heard that thou LORD art among this people, that thou LORD art seen
face to
face, and that thy cloud standeth over them, and that thou goest before them, by
daytime in a
pillar of a cloud, and in a
pillar of fire by night.
And they will tell it to the inhabitants of this land. They have already heard that You, O LORD, are in the midst of this people, that You, O LORD, have been seen
face to
face, that Your cloud stands over them, and that You go before them in a
pillar of cloud by day and a
pillar of fire by night.
For the
Amalekites and the
Canaanites are there before you, and ye shall fall by the sword: because ye are turned away from the LORD, therefore the LORD will not be with you.
For there the
Amalekites and
Canaanites will
face you, and you will fall by the sword. Because you have turned away from the LORD, He will not be with you.”
And when Moses heard it, he fell upon his face:
When Moses heard this, he fell facedown.
And they fell upon their
faces, and said, O God, the God of the spirits of all flesh, shall one man sin, and
wilt thou be
wroth with all the congregation?
But Moses and Aaron fell
facedown and said, “O God, the God of the spirits of all flesh, when one man sins, will You be
angry with the whole congregation?”
Get you up from among this congregation, that I may
consume them as in a moment. And they fell upon their
faces.
“Get away from this congregation so that I may
consume them in an instant.” And Moses and Aaron fell
facedown.
And ye shall give her unto
Eleazar the priest, that he may bring her forth without the camp, and one shall
slay her before his
face:
Give it to
Eleazar the priest, and he will have it brought outside the camp and slaughtered in his presence.
And Moses and Aaron went from the presence of the assembly unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, and they fell upon their faces: and the glory of the LORD appeared unto them.
Then Moses and Aaron went from the presence of the assembly to the entrance to the Tent of Meeting. They fell facedown, and the glory of the LORD appeared to them.
He sent messengers therefore unto
Balaam the son of Beor to
Pethor, which is by the river of the land of the children of his people, to call him, saying, Behold, there is a people come out from Egypt: behold, they cover the
face of the earth, and they
abide over against me:
he sent messengers to
Balaam son of Beor at
Pethor, which is by the Euphrates in the land of his people. “Behold, a people has come out of Egypt,” said Balak. “They cover the
face of the land and have settled next to me.
Behold, there is a people come out of Egypt, which covereth the
face of the earth: come now,
curse me them;
peradventure I shall be able to overcome them, and drive them out.
‘Behold, a people has come out of Egypt, and they cover the
face of the land. Now come and put a
curse on them for me. Perhaps I may be able to fight against them and drive them away.’”
