surety for a stranger: and take a

collateral if it is for a
foreigner.

desolate, your cities are burned with fire: your land, strangers
devour it in your presence, and it is
desolate, as overthrown by strangers.
Therefore thou hast
forsaken thy people the house of Jacob, because they be
replenished from the east, and are soothsayers like the Philistines, and they please themselves in the children of strangers.
For You have abandoned Your people, the house of Jacob, because they are filled with influences from the east; they are soothsayers like the Philistines; they strike hands with the children of foreigners.
For the LORD will have mercy on Jacob, and will yet choose Israel, and set them in their own land: and the strangers shall be joined with them, and they shall
cleave to the house of Jacob.
For the LORD will have
compassion on Jacob; once again He will choose Israel and settle them in their own land. The
foreigner will join them and unite with the house of Jacob.
Thou shalt bring down the noise of strangers, as the heat in a dry place; even the heat with the shadow of a cloud: the branch of the terrible ones shall be brought low.
like heat in a dry land. You
subdue the
uproar of
foreigners. As the shade of a cloud cools the heat, so the song of the
ruthless is silenced.
Neither let the son of the stranger, that hath joined himself to the LORD, speak, saying, The LORD hath utterly separated me from his people: neither let the
eunuch say, Behold, I am a dry tree.
Let no
foreigner who has joined himself to the LORD say, “The LORD will utterly
exclude me from His people.” And let the
eunuch not say, “I am but a dry tree.”
Also the sons of the stranger, that join themselves to the LORD, to serve him, and to love the name of the LORD, to be his servants, every one that keepeth the sabbath from
polluting it, and taketh hold of my covenant;
And the
foreigners who join themselves to the LORD to minister to Him, to love the name of the LORD, and to be His servants— all who keep the Sabbath without
profaning it and who hold fast to My covenant—
And the sons of strangers shall build up thy walls, and their kings shall minister unto thee: for in my wrath I
smote thee, but in my favour have I had mercy on thee.
Foreigners will rebuild your walls, and their kings will serve you. Although I struck you in anger, yet in favor I will show you mercy.

alien shall be your plowmen and your vinedressers.

The LORD hath
sworn by his right hand, and by the arm of his strength, Surely I will no more give thy corn to be meat for thine enemies; and the sons of the stranger shall not drink thy wine, for the which thou hast laboured:

foreigners drink the new wine for which you have
toiled.
And it shall come to pass, when ye shall say, Wherefore doeth the LORD our God all these things unto us? then shalt thou answer them, Like as ye have
forsaken me, and served strange gods in your land, so shall ye serve strangers in a land that is not yours.

offense has the LORD our God done all these things to us?’ You are to tell them, ‘Just as you have
forsaken Me and served foreign gods in your land, so will you serve
foreigners in a land that is not your own.’”
If ye
oppress not the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, and shed not innocent blood in this place, neither walk after other gods to your
hurt:
if you no longer
oppress the
foreigner and the fatherless and the widow, and if you no longer shed innocent blood in this place or follow other gods to your own
harm,
Thus saith the LORD;
Execute ye judgment and righteousness, and deliver the
spoiled out of the hand of the
oppressor: and do no wrong, do no violence to the stranger, the fatherless, nor the widow, neither shed innocent blood in this place.
This is what the LORD says:
Administer justice and righteousness.
Rescue the
victim of
robbery from the hand of his
oppressor. Do no wrong or violence to the
foreigner, the fatherless, or the widow. Do not shed innocent blood in this place.
A sword is upon their horses, and upon their
chariots, and upon all the mingled people that are in the midst of her; and they shall become as women: a sword is upon her treasures; and they shall be
robbed.
A sword is against her horses and
chariots and against all the
foreigners in her midst, and they will become like women. A sword is against her
treasuries, and they will be
plundered.

sanctuaries of the LORD’S house.

ashamed because we have heard reproach; disgrace has covered our faces, because
foreigners have entered the holy places of the LORD’s house.”

spoil; and they shall
pollute it.

plunder to
foreigners and
loot to the wicked of the earth, who will
defile them.

execute judgments among you.

foreigners, and I will
execute judgments against you.
For every one of the house of Israel, or of the stranger that sojourneth in Israel, which separateth himself from me, and setteth up his idols in his heart, and putteth the stumblingblock of his iniquity before his face, and cometh to a prophet to
enquire of him concerning me; I the LORD will answer him by myself:
For when any
Israelite or any
foreigner dwelling in Israel separates himself from Me, sets up idols in his heart, and puts a wicked
stumbling block before his face, and then comes to the prophet to inquire of Me, I the LORD will answer him Myself.
Behold, therefore I will bring strangers upon thee, the terrible of the nations: and they shall draw their swords against the beauty of thy wisdom, and they shall
defile thy brightness.

foreigners against you, the most
ruthless of nations. They will draw their swords against the beauty of your wisdom and will
defile your
splendor.

uncircumcised by the hand of strangers: for I have spoken it, saith the Lord GOD.

foreigners. For I have spoken, declares the Lord GOD.”
And I will make the rivers dry, and sell the land into the hand of the wicked: and I will make the land waste, and all that is therein, by the hand of strangers: I the LORD have spoken it.
I will make the streams dry up and sell the land to the wicked. By the hands of
foreigners I will bring
desolation upon the land and everything in it. I, the LORD, have spoken.
And strangers, the terrible of the nations, have cut him off, and have left him: upon the mountains and in all the valleys his branches are fallen, and his boughs are broken by all the rivers of the land; and all the people of the earth are gone down from his shadow, and have left him.
Foreigners, the most
ruthless of the nations, cut it down and left it. Its branches have fallen on the mountains and in every valley; its boughs lay broken in all the earth’s ravines. And all the peoples of the earth left its shade and abandoned it.
In that ye have brought into my sanctuary strangers,
uncircumcised in heart, and
uncircumcised in flesh, to be in my sanctuary, to
pollute it, even my house, when ye offer my bread, the fat and the blood, and they have broken my covenant because of all your abominations.
In addition to all your other abominations, you brought in
foreigners uncircumcised in both heart and flesh to occupy My sanctuary; you
defiled My temple when you offered My food—the fat and the blood; you broke My covenant.
Thus saith the Lord GOD; No stranger,
uncircumcised in heart, nor
uncircumcised in flesh, shall enter into my sanctuary, of any stranger that is among the children of Israel.
This is what the Lord GOD says: No
foreigner uncircumcised in heart and flesh may enter My sanctuary—not even a
foreigner who lives among the Israelites.
And it shall come to pass, that ye shall divide it by lot for an inheritance unto you, and to the strangers that
sojourn among you, which shall
beget children among you: and they shall be unto you as born in the country among the children of Israel; they shall have inheritance with you among the tribes of Israel.
You shall
allot it as an inheritance for
yourselves and for the
foreigners who dwell among you and who have children. You are to treat them as native-born Israelites; along with you, they shall be
allotted an inheritance among the tribes of Israel.
And it shall come to pass, that in what tribe the stranger sojourneth, there shall ye give him his inheritance, saith the Lord GOD.

foreigner dwells, you are to
assign his inheritance there,” declares the Lord GOD.
Strangers have
devoured his strength, and he knoweth it not:
yea, gray hairs are here and there upon him, yet he knoweth not.
Foreigners consume his strength, but he does not notice. Even his hair is
streaked with gray, but he does not know.
For they have sown the wind, and they shall
reap the
whirlwind: it hath no
stalk: the
bud shall yield no meal: if so be it yield, the strangers shall
swallow it up.
For they
sow the wind, and they shall
reap the
whirlwind. There is no standing grain; what
sprouts fails to yield flour. Even if it should produce, the
foreigners would
swallow it up.
So shall ye know that I am the LORD your God dwelling in
Zion, my holy mountain: then shall Jerusalem be holy, and there shall no strangers pass through her any more.

foreigners.
In the day that thou stoodest on the other side, in the day that the strangers carried away
captive his forces, and
foreigners entered into his gates, and cast lots upon Jerusalem, even thou
wast as one of them.

aloof while strangers carried off his wealth and
foreigners entered his gate and cast lots for Jerusalem, you were just like one of them.

oppress not the widow, nor the fatherless, the stranger, nor the poor; and let none of you imagine evil against his brother in your heart.

And I will come near to you to judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against false swearers, and against those that
oppress the
hireling in his wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and that turn aside the stranger from his right, and fear not me, saith the LORD of hosts.
“Then I will draw near to you for judgment. And I will be a swift witness against sorcerers and adulterers and perjurers, against oppressors of the widowed and fatherless, and against those who
defraud laborers of their wages and deny justice to the
foreigner but do not fear Me,” says the LORD of Hosts.

Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean.

Jew to associate with a
foreigner or visit him. But God has shown me that I should not call any man impure or unclean.

Therefore if I know not the meaning of the voice, I shall be unto him that speaketh a
barbarian, and he that speaketh shall be a
barbarian unto me.

Therefore you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of God’s household,
And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man’s work, pass the time of your
sojourning here in fear:
Since you call on a Father who judges each one’s work impartially, conduct
yourselves in
reverent fear during your stay as
foreigners.
Dearly beloved, I
beseech you as strangers and pilgrims,
abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;
Beloved, I
urge you, as
foreigners and exiles, to
abstain from the desires of the flesh, which war against your soul.
