And when
Jehoshaphat and his people came to take away the
spoil of them, they found among them in abundance both riches with the dead bodies, and precious jewels, which they
stripped off for themselves, more than they could carry away: and they were three days in
gathering of the
spoil, it was so much.
Then
Jehoshaphat and his people went to carry off the
plunder, and they found on the bodies an abundance of goods and valuables—more than they could carry away. They were
gathering the
plunder for three days because there was so much.
And they went about in Judah, and gathered the Levites out of all the cities of Judah, and the chief of the fathers of Israel, and they came to Jerusalem.
So they went throughout Judah and gathered the Levites from all the cities of Judah and the heads of the families of Israel. And when they came to Jerusalem,
And he
gathered together the priests and the Levites, and said to them, Go out unto the cities of Judah, and
gather of all Israel money to repair the house of your God from year to year, and see that ye
hasten the matter.
Howbeit the Levites
hastened it not.
So he
gathered the priests and Levites and said, “Go out to the cities of Judah and collect the money due annually from all Israel, to repair the house of your God. Do it quickly.” The Levites, however, did not make
haste.
Now it came to pass, that at what time the chest was brought unto the king’s office by the hand of the Levites, and when they saw that there was much money, the king’s
scribe and the high priest’s officer came and
emptied the chest, and took it, and carried it to his place again. Thus they did day by day, and
gathered money in abundance.
Whenever the chest was brought by the Levites to the king’s overseers and they saw that there was a large amount of money, the royal
scribe and the officer of the high priest would come and empty the chest and carry it back to its place. They did this daily and
gathered the money in abundance.
Moreover
Amaziah gathered Judah together, and made them captains over thousands, and captains over hundreds, according to the houses of their fathers, throughout all Judah and Benjamin: and he numbered them from twenty years old and above, and found them three hundred thousand choice men, able to go forth to war, that could handle
spear and shield.
Then
Amaziah gathered the people of Judah and assigned them according to their families to commanders of thousands and of hundreds. And he numbered those twenty years of age or older throughout Judah and Benjamin and found 300,000 chosen men able to serve in the army, bearing the
spear and shield.
And
Ahaz gathered together the vessels of the house of God, and cut in pieces the vessels of the house of God, and shut up the doors of the house of the LORD, and he made him altars in every corner of Jerusalem.

And they
gathered their brethren, and
sanctified themselves, and came, according to the commandment of the king, by the words of the LORD, to
cleanse the house of the LORD.

Then
Hezekiah the king rose early, and
gathered the rulers of the city, and went up to the house of the LORD.

Hezekiah gathered the city officials and went up to the house of the LORD.
For they could not keep it at that time, because the priests had not
sanctified themselves sufficiently, neither had the people
gathered themselves together to Jerusalem.
since they had been unable to observe it at the regular time, because not enough priests had consecrated themselves and the people had not been gathered in Jerusalem.
And there assembled at Jerusalem much people to keep the feast of
unleavened bread in the second month, a very great congregation.

So there was
gathered much people together, who stopped all the fountains, and the
brook that ran through the midst of the land, saying, Why should the kings of Assyria come, and find much water?
Many people assembled and stopped up all the springs and the stream that flowed through the land. “Why should the kings of Assyria come and find
plenty of water?” they said.
And he set captains of war over the people, and
gathered them together to him in the street of the gate of the city, and spake
comfortably to them, saying,
Hezekiah appointed military commanders over the people and
gathered the people in the square of the city gate. Then he encouraged them, saying,
And when they came to Hilkiah the high priest, they delivered the money that was brought into the house of God, which the Levites that kept the doors had
gathered of the hand of
Manasseh and Ephraim, and of all the
remnant of Israel, and of all Judah and Benjamin; and they returned to Jerusalem.
So they went to Hilkiah the high priest and gave him the money that had been brought into the house of God, which the Levites at the doors had collected from the people of
Manasseh and Ephraim, from all the
remnant of Israel, Judah, and Benjamin, and from the people of Jerusalem.
And they have gathered together the money that was found in the house of the LORD, and have delivered it into the hand of the overseers, and to the hand of the workmen.
They have paid out the money that was found in the house of the LORD and have put it into the hands of the supervisors and workers.”
Behold, I will gather thee to thy fathers, and thou shalt be gathered to thy grave in peace, neither shall thine eyes see all the evil that I will bring upon this place, and upon the inhabitants of the same. So they brought the king word again.
‘Now I will indeed
gather you to your fathers, and you will be
gathered to your grave in peace. Your eyes will not see all the
calamity that I will bring on this place and on its inhabitants.’” So they brought her answer back to the king.

And hath extended mercy unto me before the king, and his counsellors, and before all the king’s mighty princes. And I was strengthened as the hand of the LORD my God was upon me, and I gathered together out of Israel chief men to go up with me.
and who has shown me favor before the king, his counselors, and all his powerful officials. And because the hand of the LORD my God was upon me, I took courage and gathered the leaders of Israel to return with me.
And I
gathered them together to the river than runneth to
Ahava; and there abode we in tents three days: and I viewed the people, and the priests, and found there none of the sons of Levi.
Now I assembled these exiles at the canal that flows to
Ahava, and we camped there three days. And when I searched among the people and priests, I found no Levites there.
Then were assembled unto me every one that
trembled at the words of the God of Israel, because of the
transgression of those that had been carried away; and I sat
astonied until the evening sacrifice.
Then
everyone who
trembled at the words of the God of Israel
gathered around me because of the unfaithfulness of the exiles, while I sat there in
horror until the evening offering.
Now when
Ezra had prayed, and when he had
confessed,
weeping and casting himself down before the house of God, there assembled unto him out of Israel a very great congregation of men and women and children: for the people
wept very
sore.
While
Ezra prayed and made this confession,
weeping and falling facedown before the house of God, a very large assembly of Israelites—men, women, and children—
gathered around him, and the people
wept bitterly as well.
And they made
proclamation throughout Judah and Jerusalem unto all the children of the captivity, that they should
gather themselves together unto Jerusalem;
And a
proclamation was issued throughout Judah and Jerusalem that all the exiles should
gather at Jerusalem.
Then all the men of Judah and Benjamin
gathered themselves together unto Jerusalem within three days. It was the ninth month, on the
twentieth day of the month; and all the people sat in the street of the house of God,
trembling because of this matter, and for the great rain.
So within the three days, all the men of Judah and Benjamin assembled in Jerusalem, and on the
twentieth day of the ninth month, all the people sat in the square at the house of God,
trembling regarding this matter and because of the heavy rain.
But if ye turn unto me, and keep my commandments, and do them; though there were of you cast out unto the
uttermost part of the heaven, yet will I
gather them from thence, and will bring them unto the place that I have chosen to set my name there.
but if you return to Me and keep and practice My commandments, then even if your exiles have been banished to the
farthest horizon, I will
gather them from there and bring them to the place I have chosen as a dwelling for My Name.’
Yea, also I continued in the work of this wall, neither bought we any land: and all my servants were
gathered thither unto the work.
Instead, I devoted myself to the construction of the wall, and all my servants were gathered there for the work; we did not acquire any land.
And my God put into mine heart to
gather together the nobles, and the rulers, and the people, that they might be reckoned by
genealogy. And I found a register of the
genealogy of them which came up at the first, and found written therein,
Then my God put it into my heart to
assemble the nobles, the officials, and the people to be
enrolled by
genealogy. I found the
genealogical register of those who had first returned, and I found the following written in it:
And all the people
gathered themselves together as one man into the street that was before the water gate; and they spake unto
Ezra the
scribe to bring the book of the law of Moses, which the LORD had commanded to Israel.
At that time all the people
gathered together in the square before the Water Gate, and they asked
Ezra the
scribe to bring out the Book of the Law of Moses, which the LORD had commanded for Israel.
And on the second day were
gathered together the chief of the fathers of all the people, the priests, and the Levites, unto
Ezra the
scribe, even to understand the words of the law.
On the second day of the month, the heads of all the families, along with the priests and Levites,
gathered around
Ezra the
scribe to study the words of the Law.
Now in the twenty and fourth day of this month the children of Israel were assembled with fasting, and with sackclothes, and earth upon them.
On the twenty-fourth day of the same month, the Israelites
gathered together, fasting and wearing
sackcloth, with dust on their heads.
And the sons of the singers gathered themselves together, both out of the plain country round about Jerusalem, and from the villages of Netophathi;
The singers were also assembled from the region around Jerusalem, from the villages of the Netophathites,
And at that time were some appointed over the chambers for the treasures, for the offerings, for the firstfruits, and for the
tithes, to
gather into them out of the fields of the cities the portions of the law for the priests and Levites: for Judah
rejoiced for the priests and for the Levites that waited.
And on that same day men were appointed over the rooms that housed the supplies, contributions, firstfruits, and
tithes. The portions specified by the Law for the priests and Levites were
gathered into these storerooms from the fields of the villages, because Judah
rejoiced over the priests and Levites who were serving.
Then
contended I with the rulers, and said, Why is the house of God
forsaken? And I
gathered them together, and set them in their place.
So I
rebuked the officials and asked, “Why has the house of God been neglected?” Then I
gathered the Levites and singers together and stationed them at their posts,
And let the king
appoint officers in all the provinces of his kingdom, that they may
gather together all the fair young virgins unto
Shushan the palace, to the house of the women unto the
custody of Hege the king’s
chamberlain, keeper of the women; and let their things for
purification be given them:
and let the king
appoint commissioners in each province of his kingdom to
assemble all the beautiful young women into the
harem at the citadel of
Susa. Let them be placed under the care of Hegai, the king’s
eunuch in charge of the women, and let them be given beauty treatments.
So it came to pass, when the king’s commandment and his decree was heard, and when many maidens were
gathered together unto
Shushan the palace, to the
custody of Hegai, that
Esther was brought also unto the king’s house, to the
custody of Hegai, keeper of the women.
When the king’s command and edict had been proclaimed, many young women
gathered at the citadel of
Susa under the care of Hegai.
Esther was also taken to the palace and placed under the care of Hegai, the
custodian of the women.
And when the virgins were
gathered together the second time, then
Mordecai sat in the king’s gate.
When the virgins were assembled a second time,
Mordecai was sitting at the king’s gate.
Go,
gather together all the Jews that are present in
Shushan, and fast ye for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I also and my maidens will fast likewise; and so will I go in unto the king, which is not according to the law: and if I perish, I perish.
“Go and
assemble all the Jews who can be found in
Susa, and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day, and I and my maidens will fast as you do. After that, I will go to the king, even though it is against the law. And if I perish, I perish!”
Wherein the king granted the Jews which were in every city to
gather themselves together, and to stand for their life, to destroy, to
slay, and to cause to perish, all the power of the people and province that would
assault them, both little ones and women, and to take the
spoil of them for a prey,
By these letters the king permitted the Jews in each and every city the right to
assemble and defend themselves, to destroy, kill, and
annihilate all the forces of any people or province hostile to them, including women and children, and to
plunder their possessions.
The Jews
gathered themselves together in their cities throughout all the provinces of the king
Ahasuerus, to lay hand on such as sought their
hurt: and no man could
withstand them; for the fear of them fell upon all people.
In each of the provinces of King
Xerxes, the Jews assembled in their cities to attack those who sought to
harm them. No man could
withstand them, because the fear of them had fallen upon all peoples.
For the Jews that were in
Shushan gathered themselves together on the
fourteenth day also of the month
Adar, and
slew three hundred men at
Shushan; but on the prey they laid not their hand.
On the
fourteenth day of the month of
Adar, the Jews in
Susa came together again and put to death three hundred men there, but they did not lay a hand on the
plunder.
But the other Jews that were in the king’s provinces
gathered themselves together, and stood for their lives, and had rest from their enemies, and
slew of their foes seventy and five thousand, but they laid not their hands on the prey,
The rest of the Jews in the royal provinces also assembled to defend themselves and rid themselves of their enemies. They killed 75,000 who
hated them, but they did not lay a hand on the
plunder.
Thou shalt come to thy grave in a full age, like as a
shock of corn cometh in in his season.
You will come to the grave in full
vigor, like a
sheaf of grain
gathered in season.
If he cut off, and shut up, or gather together, then who can hinder him?
If He comes along to imprison you, or convenes a court, who can stop Him?
They open their mouths against me and strike my cheeks with contempt; they join together against me.
They
reap every one his corn in the field: and they
gather the
vintage of the wicked.
They
gather fodder in the fields and
glean the vineyards of the wicked.
They are
exalted for a little while, but are gone and brought low; they are taken out of the way as all other, and cut off as the tops of the ears of corn.
They are
exalted for a moment, then they are gone; they are brought low and
gathered up like all others; they are cut off like heads of grain.
The rich man shall lie down, but he shall not be gathered: he openeth his eyes, and he is not.
He lies down wealthy, but will do so no more; when he opens his eyes, all is gone.
Among the bushes they
brayed; under the
nettles they were
gathered together.
If he set his heart upon man, if he gather unto himself his spirit and his breath;
If He were to set His heart to it and withdraw His Spirit and breath,
Wilt thou believe him, that he will bring home thy seed, and
gather it into thy
barn?
Can you trust him to bring in your grain and
gather it to your
threshing floor?
The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his
anointed, saying,
The kings of the earth take their stand and the rulers
gather together, against the LORD and against His
Anointed One:
So shall the congregation of the people compass thee about: for their sakes therefore return thou on high.
Let the assembled peoples gather around You; take Your seat over them on high.
Gather not my soul with sinners, nor my life with
bloody men:
Do not take my soul away with sinners, or my life with men of
bloodshed,
He
gathereth the waters of the sea together as an
heap: he layeth up the depth in storehouses.
He piles up the waters of the sea; He puts the depths into storehouses.
But in mine
adversity they
rejoiced, and
gathered themselves together:
yea, the abjects
gathered themselves together against me, and I knew it not; they did
tear me, and ceased not:
But when I
stumbled, they assembled in
glee; they
gathered together against me. Assailants I did not know
slandered me without ceasing.
Surely every man walketh in a vain
shew: surely they are disquieted in vain: he heapeth up riches, and knoweth not who shall
gather them.
Surely every man goes about like a
phantom; surely he bustles in vain; he heaps up riches not knowing who will
haul them away.
And if he come to see me, he speaketh vanity: his heart gathereth iniquity to itself; when he goeth abroad, he telleth it.
The princes of the people are
gathered together, even the people of the God of Abraham: for the shields of the earth belong unto God: he is greatly
exalted.
The nobles of the nations have assembled as the people of the God of Abraham; for the shields of the earth belong to God; He is highly
exalted.
Gather my saints together unto me; those that have made a covenant with me by sacrifice.
“Gather to Me My saints, who made a covenant with Me by sacrifice.”
They gather themselves together, they hide themselves, they mark my steps, when they wait for my soul.
They
conspire, they
lurk, they watch my steps while they wait to take my life.
For, lo, they lie in wait for my soul: the mighty are
gathered against me; not for my
transgression, nor for my sin, O LORD.
See how they lie in wait for me. Fierce men
conspire against me for no
transgression or sin of my own, O LORD.
They
gather themselves together against the soul of the righteous, and
condemn the innocent blood.
They band together against the righteous and
condemn the innocent to death.
When the people are gathered together, and the kingdoms, to serve the LORD.
when peoples and kingdoms
assemble to serve the LORD.
The sun ariseth, they gather themselves together, and lay them down in their dens.
The sun rises, and they withdraw; they lie down in their dens.
That thou givest them they gather: thou openest thine hand, they are filled with good.
When You give it to them, they gather it up; when You open Your hand, they are satisfied with good things.
Save us, O LORD our God, and
gather us from among the heathen, to give
thanks unto thy holy name, and to triumph in thy praise.
Save us, O LORD our God, and
gather us from the nations, that we may give
thanks to Your holy name, that we may glory in Your praise.
And gathered them out of the lands, from the east, and from the west, from the north, and from the south.
and gathered from the lands, from east and west, from north and south.
Which imagine mischiefs in their heart; continually are they gathered together for war.
who
devise evil in their hearts and
stir up war all day long.
Bring my soul out of prison, that I may praise thy name: the righteous shall compass me about; for thou shalt deal
bountifully with me.
Free my soul from prison, that I may praise Your name. The righteous will gather around me because of Your goodness to me.
The LORD
doth build up Jerusalem: he
gathereth together the outcasts of Israel.
The LORD builds up Jerusalem; He gathers the exiles of Israel.
Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest.
it prepares its provisions in summer; it gathers its food at harvest.
He that gathereth in summer is a wise son: but he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame.
He who gathers in summer is a wise son, but he who sleeps during harvest is a disgraceful son.
Wealth
gotten by vanity shall be diminished: but he that
gathereth by labour shall increase.
The hay appeareth, and the tender grass sheweth itself, and herbs of the mountains are gathered.
When hay is removed and new growth appears and the grain from the hills is gathered,
He that by
usury and unjust gain increaseth his substance, he shall
gather it for him that will
pity the poor.
He who increases his wealth by interest and
usury lays it up for one who is kind to the poor.
Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? who hath gathered the wind in his fists? who hath bound the waters in a garment? who hath established all the ends of the earth? what is his name, and what is his son’s name, if thou canst tell?
Who has ascended to heaven and come down? Who has
gathered the wind in His hands? Who has bound up the waters in His
cloak? Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is His name, and what is the name of His Son— surely you know!
I
gathered me also silver and gold, and the peculiar
treasure of kings and of the provinces: I
gat me men singers and women singers, and the delights of the sons of men, as musical instruments, and that of all sorts.
and I accumulated for myself silver and gold and the
treasure of kings and provinces. I
gathered to myself male and female singers, and the delights of the sons of men—many concubines.
For God giveth to a man that is good in his sight wisdom, and knowledge, and joy: but to the
sinner he giveth
travail, to
gather and to
heap up, that he may give to him that is good before God. This also is vanity and
vexation of spirit.
To the man who is pleasing in His sight, He gives wisdom and knowledge and joy, but to the
sinner He assigns the task of
gathering and
accumulating that which he will hand over to one who pleases God. This too is
futile and a pursuit of the wind.
A time to cast away stones, and a time to
gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to
refrain from embracing;
a time to cast away stones and a time to
gather stones together, a time to embrace and a time to
refrain from embracing,
I am come into my garden, my sister, my
spouse: I have
gathered my
myrrh with my
spice; I have eaten my
honeycomb with my honey; I have
drunk my wine with my milk: eat, O friends; drink,
yea, drink abundantly, O beloved.
I have come to my garden, my sister, my
bride; I have
gathered my
myrrh with my
spice. I have eaten my
honeycomb with my honey; I have
drunk my wine with my milk. Eat, O friends, and drink; drink freely, O beloved.
My beloved is gone down into his garden, to the beds of spices, to feed in the gardens, and to
gather lilies.
My beloved has gone down to his garden, to the beds of spices, to pasture his flock in the gardens and to
gather lilies.
And he
fenced it, and
gathered out the stones thereof, and planted it with the choicest vine, and built a tower in the midst of it, and also made a winepress therein: and he looked that it should bring forth grapes, and it brought forth wild grapes.
He
dug it up and cleared the stones and planted the finest vines. He built a
watchtower in the middle and
dug out a winepress as well. He waited for the
vineyard to yield good grapes, but the fruit it produced was
sour!
And my hand hath found as a nest the riches of the people: and as one
gathereth eggs that are left, have I
gathered all the earth; and there was none that moved the wing, or opened the mouth, or
peeped.
My hand reached as into a nest to seize the wealth of the nations. Like one
gathering abandoned eggs, I
gathered all the earth. No wing
fluttered, no
beak opened or
chirped.’”
Madmenah is removed; the inhabitants of Gebim
gather themselves to
flee.
Madmenah flees; the people of Gebim take refuge.
And he shall set up an
ensign for the nations, and shall
assemble the outcasts of Israel, and
gather together the
dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth.
He will raise a
banner for the nations and
gather the exiles of Israel; He will collect the scattered of Judah from the four corners of the earth.
The noise of a multitude in the mountains, like as of a great people; a
tumultuous noise of the kingdoms of nations
gathered together: the LORD of hosts mustereth the host of the battle.
Listen, a
tumult on the mountains, like that of a great multitude!
Listen, an
uproar among the kingdoms, like nations
gathered together! The LORD of Hosts is
mobilizing an army for war.
And it shall be as when the
harvestman gathereth the corn, and reapeth the ears with his arm; and it shall be as he that
gathereth ears in the valley of
Rephaim.
as the
reaper gathers the standing grain and harvests the ears with his arm, as one gleans heads of grain in the Valley of
Rephaim.
Ye have seen also the breaches of the city of David, that they are many: and ye
gathered together the waters of the lower
pool.
You saw that there were many breaches in the walls of the City of David. You collected water from the lower
pool.
And they shall be gathered together, as prisoners are gathered in the pit, and shall be shut up in the prison, and after many days shall they be visited.
They will be
gathered together like prisoners in a pit. They will be confined to a
dungeon and punished after many days.
And it shall come to pass in that day, that the LORD shall beat off from the channel of the river unto the stream of Egypt, and ye shall be gathered one by one, O ye children of Israel.
In that day the LORD will
thresh from the flowing Euphrates to the Wadi of Egypt, and you, O Israelites, will be
gathered one by one.
Many days and years shall ye be troubled, ye careless women: for the
vintage shall fail, the
gathering shall not come.
In a little more than a year you will
tremble, O secure ones. For the
grape harvest will fail and the fruit harvest will not arrive.
And your
spoil shall be
gathered like the
gathering of the caterpiller: as the running to and
fro of locusts shall he run upon them.
Your
spoil, O nations, is
gathered as by locusts; like a
swarm of locusts men
sweep over it.
There shall the great
owl make her nest, and lay, and
hatch, and
gather under her shadow: there shall the vultures also be
gathered, every one with her
mate.
There the
owl will make her nest; she will lay and
hatch her eggs and
gather her
brood under her shadow. Even there the birds of prey will
gather, each with its
mate.
Seek ye out of the book of the LORD, and read: no one of these shall fail, none shall want her
mate: for my mouth it hath commanded, and his spirit it hath
gathered them.
Search and read the
scroll of the LORD: Not one of these will go missing, not one will lack her
mate, because He has ordered it by His mouth, and He will
gather them by His Spirit.
He shall feed his flock like a
shepherd: he shall
gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his
bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young.
He tends His flock like a
shepherd; He
gathers the lambs in His arms and carries them close to His heart. He gently leads the
nursing ewes.
Fear not: for I am with thee: I will bring thy seed from the east, and gather thee from the west;
Do not be afraid, for I am with you; I will bring your offspring from the east and gather you from the west.
Let all the nations be
gathered together, and let the people be assembled: who among them can declare this, and
shew us former things? let them bring forth their witnesses, that they may be justified: or let them hear, and say, It is truth.
All the nations
gather together and the peoples
assemble. Who among them can declare this, and
proclaim to us the former things? Let them present their witnesses to
vindicate them, so that others may hear and say, “It is true.”
Behold, all his fellows shall be
ashamed: and the workmen, they are of men: let them all be
gathered together, let them stand up; yet they shall fear, and they shall be
ashamed together.
Behold, all his companions will be put to shame, for the
craftsmen themselves are only human. Let them all
assemble and take their stand; they will all be brought to terror and shame.
Assemble yourselves and come; draw near together, ye that are escaped of the nations: they have no knowledge that set up the wood of their
graven image, and pray unto a god that cannot save.
Come, gather together, and draw near, you fugitives from the nations. Ignorant are those who carry idols of wood and pray to a god that cannot save.
And now, saith the LORD that formed me from the
womb to be his servant, to bring Jacob again to him, Though Israel be not
gathered, yet shall I be glorious in the eyes of the LORD, and my God shall be my strength.
And now says the LORD, who formed Me from the
womb to be His Servant, to bring Jacob back to Him, that Israel might be
gathered to Him— for I am honored in the sight of the LORD, and My God is My strength—
