Woe unto the wicked! it shall be ill with him: for the reward of his hands shall be
given him.
Woe to the wicked;
disaster is upon them! For they will be repaid with what their hands have done.
And there shall be a tabernacle for a shadow in the
daytime from the heat, and for a place of refuge, and for a
covert from storm and from rain.
a shelter to give shade from the heat by day, and a refuge and hiding place from the storm and the rain.
Therefore the Lord himself shall
give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name
Immanuel.
Therefore the Lord Himself will
give you a sign: Behold, the virgin will be with child and will
give birth to a son, and will call Him
Immanuel.
And it shall come to pass, for the abundance of milk that they shall give he shall eat butter: for butter and honey shall every one eat that is left in the land.
and from the abundance of milk they give, he will eat curds; for all who remain in the land will eat curds and honey.
Associate
yourselves, O ye people, and ye shall be broken in pieces; and
give ear, all ye of far countries:
gird yourselves, and ye shall be broken in pieces;
gird yourselves, and ye shall be broken in pieces.
Behold, I and the children whom the LORD hath
given me are for signs and for wonders in Israel from the LORD of hosts, which dwelleth in mount
Zion.
Here am I, and the children the LORD has
given me as signs and symbols in Israel from the LORD of Hosts, who dwells on Mount
Zion.
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is
given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The
everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is
given, and the government will be upon His shoulders. And He will be called Wonderful
Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
I will send him against an
hypocritical nation, and against the people of my wrath will I
give him a charge, to take the
spoil, and to take the prey, and to
tread them down like the
mire of the streets.
I will send him against a godless nation; I will
dispatch him against a people destined for My
rage, to take spoils and seize
plunder, and to
trample them down like clay in the streets.
And in that day shall ye say, Praise the LORD, call upon his name, declare his doings among the people, make mention that his name is
exalted.
and on that day you will say: “
Give praise to the LORD;
proclaim His name! Make His works known among the peoples; declare that His name is
exalted.
For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not
give their light: the sun shall be
darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to
shine.
For the stars of heaven and their constellations will not
give their light. The rising sun will be
darkened, and the moon will not
give its light.
And it shall come to pass in the day that the LORD shall
give thee rest from thy sorrow, and from thy fear, and from the hard
bondage wherein thou
wast made to serve,
On the day that the LORD
gives you rest from your pain and
torment, and from the hard labor into which you were forced,
What shall one then answer the messengers of the nation? That the LORD hath founded
Zion, and the poor of his people shall trust in it.
What answer will be
given to the envoys of that nation? “The LORD has founded
Zion, where His
afflicted people will find refuge.”
Take counsel,
execute judgment; make thy shadow as the night in the midst of the
noonday; hide the outcasts;
bewray not him that wandereth.
“
Give us counsel; render a decision. Shelter us at
noonday with shade as dark as night. Hide the refugees; do not
betray the one who flees.
And the Egyptians will I give over into the hand of a cruel lord; and a fierce king shall rule over them, saith the Lord, the LORD of hosts.
I will deliver the Egyptians into the hands of harsh masters, and a fierce king will rule over them,” declares the Lord GOD of Hosts.
Surely the princes of Zoan are fools, the counsel of the wise counsellors of Pharaoh is become
brutish: how say ye unto Pharaoh, I am the son of the wise, the son of ancient kings?
The princes of Zoan are mere fools; Pharaoh’s wise counselors give senseless advice. How can you say to Pharaoh, “I am one of the wise, a son of eastern kings”?
In that day, saith the LORD of hosts, shall the
nail that is fastened in the sure place be removed, and be cut down, and fall; and the burden that was upon it shall be cut off: for the LORD hath spoken it.
In that day, declares the LORD of Hosts, the
peg driven into a firm place will
give way; it will be
sheared off and fall, and the load upon it will be cut down.” Indeed, the LORD has spoken.
Be thou
ashamed, O Zidon: for the sea hath spoken, even the strength of the sea, saying, I
travail not, nor bring forth children, neither do I
nourish up young men, nor bring up virgins.
Be
ashamed, O
Sidon, the
stronghold of the sea, for the sea has spoken: “I have not been in labor or
given birth. I have not raised young men or brought up young women.”
He stretched out his hand over the sea, he
shook the kingdoms: the LORD hath
given a commandment against the merchant city, to destroy the strong holds thereof.
The LORD has stretched out His hand over the sea; He has made kingdoms
tremble. He has
given a command that the strongholds of
Canaan be destroyed.
And it shall be, as with the people, so with the priest; as with the servant, so with his master; as with the
maid, so with her
mistress; as with the
buyer, so with the seller; as with the
lender, so with the
borrower; as with the taker of
usury, so with the
giver of
usury to him.
Like as a woman with child, that draweth near the time of her
delivery, is in pain, and crieth out in her pangs; so have we been in thy sight, O LORD.
As a woman with child about to
give birth writhes and
cries out in pain, so were we in Your presence, O LORD.
We have been with child, we have been in pain, we have as it were brought forth wind; we have not wrought any
deliverance in the earth; neither have the inhabitants of the world fallen.
We were with child; we
writhed in pain; but we gave birth to wind. We have
given no salvation to the earth, nor brought any life into the world.
Give ye ear, and hear my voice;
hearken, and hear my speech.
Listen and hear my voice. Pay attention and hear what I say.
And though the Lord
give you the bread of
adversity, and the water of
affliction, yet shall not thy teachers be removed into a corner any more, but thine eyes shall see thy teachers:
The Lord will
give you the bread of
adversity and the water of
affliction, but your Teacher will no longer hide Himself—with your own eyes you will see Him.
Then shall he
give the rain of thy seed, that thou shalt
sow the ground
withal; and bread of the increase of the earth, and it shall be fat and
plenteous: in that day shall thy cattle feed in large pastures.
Then He will send rain for the seed that you have sown in the ground, and the food that comes from your land will be rich and
plentiful. On that day your cattle will
graze in open pastures.
Rise up, ye women that are at ease; hear my voice, ye careless daughters; give ear unto my speech.
Ye shall conceive
chaff, ye shall bring forth
stubble: your breath, as fire, shall
devour you.
He shall dwell on high: his place of defence shall be the munitions of rocks: bread shall be given him; his waters shall be sure.
he will dwell on the heights; the mountain fortress will be his refuge; his food will be provided and his water
assured.
For the
indignation of the LORD is upon all nations, and his
fury upon all their armies: he hath utterly destroyed them, he hath delivered them to the slaughter.
The LORD is
angry with all the nations and
furious with all their armies. He will
devote them to destruction; He will
give them over to slaughter.
Now therefore give pledges, I pray thee, to my master the king of Assyria, and I will give thee two thousand horses, if thou be able on thy part to set riders upon them.
Now, therefore, make a
bargain with my master, the king of Assyria. I will
give you two thousand horses—if you can put riders on them!
Neither let
Hezekiah make you trust in the LORD, saying, The LORD will surely deliver us: this city shall not be delivered into the hand of the king of Assyria.
Do not let
Hezekiah persuade you to trust in the LORD when he says, ‘The LORD will surely deliver us; this city will not be
given into the hand of the king of Assyria.’
Thus shall ye speak to
Hezekiah king of Judah, saying, Let not thy God, in whom thou trustest,
deceive thee, saying, Jerusalem shall not be
given into the hand of the king of Assyria.
“
Give this message to
Hezekiah king of Judah: ‘Do not let your God, in whom you trust,
deceive you by saying that Jerusalem will not be delivered into the hand of the king of Assyria.
He
giveth power to the
faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.
He
gives power to the
faint and increases the strength of the weak.
The first shall say to
Zion, Behold, behold them: and I will
give to Jerusalem one that bringeth good
tidings.
I was the first to tell
Zion: ‘Look, here they are!’ And I gave to Jerusalem a
herald of good news.
Thus saith God the LORD, he that created the heavens, and stretched them out; he that spread forth the earth, and that which cometh out of it; he that giveth breath unto the people upon it, and spirit to them that walk therein:
This is what God the LORD says— He who created the heavens and stretched them out, who spread out the earth and its offspring, who gives breath to the people on it and life to those who walk in it:
I the LORD have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles;
“I, the LORD, have called you for a righteous purpose, and I will take hold of your hand. I will keep you and
appoint you to be a covenant for the people and a light to the nations,
I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not
give to another, neither my praise to
graven images.
I am the LORD; that is My name! I will not yield My glory to another or My praise to idols.
Let them give glory unto the LORD, and declare his praise in the islands.
Let them give glory to the LORD and declare His praise in the islands.
Who among you will
give ear to this? who will
hearken and hear for the time to come?
Who among you will pay attention to this? Who will
listen and obey
hereafter?
For I am the LORD thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour: I gave Egypt for thy
ransom,
Ethiopia and Seba for thee.
For I am the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, your
Savior; I
give Egypt for your
ransom,
Cush and Seba in your place.
Since thou
wast precious in my sight, thou hast been honourable, and I have loved thee: therefore will I
give men for thee, and people for thy life.
Because you are precious and honored in My sight, and because I love you, I will give men in exchange for you and nations in place of your life.
I will say to the north, Give up; and to the south, Keep not back: bring my sons from far, and my daughters from the ends of the earth;
I will say to the north, ‘
Give them up!’ and to the south, ‘Do not hold them back!’ Bring My sons from
afar, and My daughters from the ends of the earth—
The beast of the field shall honour me, the
dragons and the owls: because I
give waters in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert, to
give drink to my people, my chosen.
The beasts of the field will honor Me, the jackals and the ostriches, because I provide water in the wilderness and rivers in the desert, to give drink to My chosen people.
Therefore I have
profaned the princes of the sanctuary, and have
given Jacob to the
curse, and Israel to reproaches.
So I will disgrace the princes of your sanctuary, and I will
devote Jacob to destruction and Israel to reproach.”
And I will give thee the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places, that thou mayest know that I, the LORD, which call thee by thy name, am the God of Israel.
I will give you the treasures of darkness and the riches hidden in secret places, so that you may know that I am the LORD, the God of Israel, who calls you by name.
For Jacob my servant’s sake, and Israel mine
elect, I have even called thee by thy name: I have
surnamed thee, though thou hast not known me.
For the sake of Jacob My servant and Israel My chosen one, I call you by name; I have given you a title of honor, though you have not known Me.
I was
wroth with my people, I have
polluted mine inheritance, and
given them into thine hand: thou
didst shew them no mercy; upon the ancient hast thou very
heavily laid thy yoke.
I was
angry with My people; I
profaned My
heritage, and I placed them under your control. You showed them no mercy; even on the elderly you laid a most heavy yoke.
Therefore hear now this, thou that art
given to pleasures, that dwellest
carelessly, that sayest in thine heart, I am, and none else beside me; I shall not sit as a widow, neither shall I know the loss of children:
So now hear this, O lover of
luxury who sits securely, who says to herself, ‘I am, and there is none besides me. I will never be a widow or know the loss of children.’
For mine own sake, even for mine own sake, will I do it: for how should my name be
polluted? and I will not
give my glory unto another.
For My own sake, My very own sake, I will act; for how can I let Myself be
defamed? I will not yield My glory to another.
And he said, It is a light thing that thou shouldest be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel: I will also give thee for a light to the Gentiles, that thou mayest be my salvation unto the end of the earth.
He says: “It is not enough for You to be My Servant, to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the protected ones of Israel. I will also make You a light for the nations, to bring My salvation to the ends of the earth.”
Thus saith the LORD, In an acceptable time have I heard thee, and in a day of salvation have I helped thee: and I will preserve thee, and
give thee for a covenant of the people, to establish the earth, to cause to
inherit the
desolate heritages;
This is what the LORD says: “In the time of favor I will answer You, and in the day of salvation I will help You; I will keep You and
appoint You to be a covenant for the people, to restore the land, to
apportion its
desolate inheritances,
The children which thou shalt have, after thou hast lost the other, shall say again in thine ears, The place is too strait for me: give place to me that I may dwell.
Yet the children of your
bereavement will say in your hearing, ‘This place is too small for us; make room for us to live here.’
The Lord GOD hath
given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is
weary: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned.
The Lord GOD has
given Me the tongue of
discipleship, to
sustain the
weary with a word. He awakens Me morning by morning; He awakens My ear to
listen as a disciple.
Hearken unto me, my people; and
give ear unto me, O my nation: for a law shall proceed from me, and I will make my judgment to rest for a light of the people.
Pay attention to Me, My people, and
listen to Me, My nation; for a law will go out from Me, and My justice will become a light to the nations; I will bring it about quickly.
Behold, I have given him for a witness to the people, a leader and commander to the people.
Behold, I have made him a witness to the nations, a leader and commander of the peoples.
For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and
bud, that it may
give seed to the
sower, and bread to the eater:
For just as rain and snow fall from heaven and do not return without watering the earth, making it
bud and
sprout, and providing seed to
sow and food to eat,
Even unto them will I
give in mine house and within my walls a place and a name better than of sons and of daughters: I will
give them an
everlasting name, that shall not be cut off.
I will
give them, in My house and within My walls, a
memorial and a name better than that of sons and daughters. I will
give them an
everlasting name that will not be cut off.
And if thou draw out thy soul to the
hungry, and satisfy the
afflicted soul; then shall thy light rise in obscurity, and thy darkness be as the
noonday:
and if you
give yourself to the
hungry and satisfy the
afflicted soul, then your light will go forth in the darkness, and your night will be like
noonday.
None calleth for justice, nor any pleadeth for truth: they trust in vanity, and speak lies; they conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity.
No one calls for justice; no one pleads his case
honestly. They
rely on empty pleas; they tell lies; they conceive mischief and
give birth to iniquity.
The sun shall be no more thy light by day; neither for brightness shall the moon
give light unto thee: but the LORD shall be unto thee an
everlasting light, and thy God thy glory.
No longer will the sun be your light by day, nor the brightness of the moon
shine on your night; for the LORD will be your
everlasting light, and your God will be your
splendor.
To
appoint unto them that
mourn in
Zion, to
give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for
mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of
heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be
glorified.
to
console the mourners in
Zion— to
give them a crown of beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for
mourning, and a garment of praise for a spirit of
despair. So they will be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that He may be
glorified.
For I the LORD love judgment, I
hate robbery for burnt offering; and I will direct their work in truth, and I will make an
everlasting covenant with them.
And give him no rest, till he establish, and till he make Jerusalem a praise in the earth.
nor give Him any rest until He establishes Jerusalem and makes her the praise of the earth.
The LORD hath
sworn by his right hand, and by the arm of his strength, Surely I will no more
give thy corn to be meat for thine enemies; and the sons of the stranger shall not drink thy wine, for the which thou hast laboured:
The LORD has
sworn by His right hand and by His mighty arm: “Never again will I
give your grain to your enemies for food, nor will foreigners drink the new wine for which you have
toiled.
And ye shall leave your name for a
curse unto my chosen: for the Lord GOD shall
slay thee, and call his servants by another name:
You will leave behind your name as a
curse for My chosen ones, and the Lord GOD will
slay you; but to His servants He will
give another name.
And I saw, when for all the causes whereby
backsliding Israel committed
adultery I had put her away, and
given her a bill of
divorce; yet her
treacherous sister Judah feared not, but went and played the
harlot also.
She saw that because faithless Israel had committed
adultery, I gave her a
certificate of
divorce and sent her away. Yet that unfaithful sister Judah had no fear and
prostituted herself as well.
And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.
Then I will
give you
shepherds after My own heart, who will feed you with knowledge and understanding.”
In those days the house of Judah shall walk with the house of Israel, and they shall come together out of the land of the north to the land that I have given for an inheritance unto your fathers.
In those days the house of Judah will walk with the house of Israel, and they will come together from the land of the north to the land that I gave to your fathers as an inheritance.
But I said, How shall I put thee among the children, and
give thee a pleasant land, a goodly
heritage of the hosts of nations? and I said, Thou shalt call me, My father; and shalt not turn away from me.
Then I said, ‘How I long to make you My sons and give you a desirable land, the most beautiful inheritance of all the nations!’ I thought you would call Me ‘Father’ and never turn away from following Me.
Even a full wind from those places shall come unto me: now also will I give sentence against them.
a wind too strong for that comes from Me. Now I also
pronounce judgments against them.”
Make ye mention to the nations; behold,
publish against Jerusalem, that watchers come from a far country, and
give out their voice against the cities of Judah.
Warn the nations now!
Proclaim to Jerusalem: “A
besieging army comes from a distant land; they raise their voices against the cities of Judah.
Neither say they in their heart, Let us now fear the LORD our God, that giveth rain, both the former and the latter, in his season: he reserveth unto us the appointed weeks of the harvest.
They have not said in their hearts, ‘Let us fear the LORD our God, who gives the rains, both autumn and spring, in season, who keeps for us the appointed weeks of harvest.’
To whom shall I speak, and
give warning, that they may hear? behold, their ear is
uncircumcised, and they cannot
hearken: behold, the word of the LORD is unto them a reproach; they have no delight in it.
To whom can I
give this
warning? Who will
listen to me? Look, their ears are closed, so they cannot hear. See, the word of the LORD has become offensive to them; they find no pleasure in it.
For from the least of them even unto the greatest of them every one is
given to
covetousness; and from the prophet even unto the priest every one dealeth falsely.
“For from the least of them to the greatest, all are
greedy for gain; from prophet to priest, all practice
deceit.
Therefore will I
give their wives unto others, and their fields to them that shall
inherit them: for every one from the least even unto the greatest is
given to
covetousness, from the prophet even unto the priest every one dealeth falsely.
Therefore I will
give their wives to other men and their fields to new owners. For from the least of them to the greatest, all are
greedy for gain; from prophet to priest, all practice
deceit.
I will surely
consume them, saith the LORD: there shall be no grapes on the vine, nor figs on the fig tree, and the leaf shall
fade; and the things that I have
given them shall pass away from them.
I will take away their harvest, declares the LORD. There will be no grapes on the vine, nor figs on the tree, and even the leaf will wither. Whatever I have given them will be lost to them.”
Why do we sit still?
assemble yourselves, and let us enter into the defenced cities, and let us be silent there: for the LORD our God hath put us to silence, and
given us water of gall to drink, because we have
sinned against the LORD.
Why are we just sitting here? Gather together, let us
flee to the fortified cities and perish there, for the LORD our God has
doomed us. He has
given us poisoned water to drink, because we have
sinned against the LORD.
Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will feed them, even this people, with
wormwood, and
give them water of gall to drink.
Therefore this is what the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: “Behold, I will feed this people
wormwood and
give them poisoned water to drink.
That I may perform the oath which I have
sworn unto your fathers, to
give them a land flowing with milk and honey, as it is this day. Then answered I, and said, So be it, O LORD.
This was in order to establish the oath I
swore to your forefathers, to
give them a land flowing with milk and honey, as it is to this day.” “
Amen, LORD,” I answered.
And the LORD hath given me knowledge of it, and I know it: then thou shewedst me their doings.
And the LORD informed me, so I knew. Then You showed me their deeds.
I have
forsaken mine house, I have left mine
heritage; I have
given the
dearly beloved of my soul into the hand of her enemies.
I have
forsaken My house; I have abandoned My inheritance. I have
given the love of My life into the hands of her enemies.
Hear ye, and give ear; be not proud: for the LORD hath spoken.
Give glory to the LORD your God, before he cause darkness, and before your feet
stumble upon the dark mountains, and, while ye look for light, he turn it into the shadow of death, and make it gross darkness.
Give glory to the LORD your God before He brings darkness, before your feet
stumble on the
dusky mountains. You wait for light, but He turns it into deep
gloom and thick darkness.
Lift up your eyes, and behold them that come from the north: where is the flock that was given thee, thy beautiful flock?
Lift up your eyes and see those coming from the north. Where is the flock entrusted to you, the sheep that were your pride?
Then said I,
Ah, Lord GOD! behold, the prophets say unto them, Ye shall not see the sword, neither shall ye have famine; but I will
give you
assured peace in this place.
“
Ah, Lord GOD!” I replied, “Look, the prophets are telling them, ‘You will not see the sword or suffer famine, but I will
give you lasting peace in this place.’”
Are there any among the
vanities of the Gentiles that can cause rain? or can the heavens
give showers? art not thou he, O LORD our God? therefore we will wait upon thee: for thou hast made all these things.
Can the worthless idols of the nations bring rain? Do the
skies alone send showers? Is this not by You, O LORD our God? So we put our hope in You, for You have done all these things.
She that hath borne seven languisheth: she hath
given up the ghost; her sun is gone down while it was yet day: she hath been
ashamed and confounded: and the residue of them will I deliver to the sword before their enemies, saith the LORD.
The mother of seven will grow
faint; she will
breathe her last breath. Her sun will set while it is still day; she will be disgraced and
humiliated. And the rest I will put to the sword in the presence of their enemies,” declares the LORD.
Thy substance and thy treasures will I
give to the
spoil without price, and that for all thy sins, even in all thy borders.
Your wealth and your treasures I will
give up as
plunder, without charge for all your sins within all your borders.
Neither shall men
tear themselves for them in
mourning, to comfort them for the dead; neither shall men
give them the cup of
consolation to drink for their father or for their mother.
No food will be offered to comfort those who
mourn the dead; not even a cup of
consolation will be
given for the loss of a father or mother.
O my mountain in the field, I will
give thy substance and all thy treasures to the
spoil, and thy high places for sin, throughout all thy borders.
O My mountain in the
countryside, I will
give over your wealth and all your treasures as
plunder, because of the sin of your high places, within all your borders.
I the LORD search the heart, I try the
reins, even to
give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.
I, the LORD, search the heart; I examine the mind to reward a man according to his way, by what his deeds deserve.
Then said they, Come, and let us
devise devices against Jeremiah; for the law shall not perish from the priest, nor counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophet. Come, and let us
smite him with the tongue, and let us not
give heed to any of his words.
Then some said, “Come, let us make plans against Jeremiah, for the law will never be lost to the priest, nor counsel to the wise, nor an
oracle to the prophet. Come, let us
denounce him and pay no
heed to any of his words.”
Attend to me, O LORD. Hear what my accusers are saying!
And I will make void the counsel of Judah and Jerusalem in this place; and I will cause them to fall by the sword before their enemies, and by the hands of them that seek their lives: and their carcases will I give to be meat for the fowls of the heaven, and for the beasts of the earth.
And in this place I will ruin the plans of Judah and Jerusalem. I will make them fall by the sword before their enemies, by the hands of those who seek their lives, and I will
give their
carcasses as food to the birds of the air and the beasts of the earth.
For thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will make thee a terror to
thyself, and to all thy friends: and they shall fall by the sword of their enemies, and thine eyes shall behold it: and I will
give all Judah into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall carry them
captive into Babylon, and shall
slay them with the sword.
For this is what the LORD says: ‘I will make you a terror to
yourself and to all your friends. They will fall by the sword of their enemies before your very eyes. And I will hand Judah over to the king of Babylon, and he will carry them away to Babylon and put them to the sword.
Moreover I will deliver all the strength of this city, and all the labours thereof, and all the precious things thereof, and all the treasures of the kings of Judah will I
give into the hand of their enemies, which shall
spoil them, and take them, and carry them to Babylon.
I will
give away all the wealth of this city—all its products and valuables, and all the treasures of the kings of Judah—to their enemies. They will
plunder them, seize them, and carry them off to Babylon.
For I have set my face against this city for evil, and not for good, saith the LORD: it shall be given into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall burn it with fire.
For I have set My face against this city to bring
disaster and not good, declares the LORD. It will be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon, who will destroy it with fire.’
Woe unto him that buildeth his house by unrighteousness, and his chambers by wrong; that useth his neighbour’s service without wages, and
giveth him not for his work;
“
Woe to him who builds his palace by unrighteousness, and his upper rooms without justice, who makes his countrymen serve without pay, and fails to pay their wages,
And I will give thee into the hand of them that seek thy life, and into the hand of them whose face thou fearest, even into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of the Chaldeans.
In fact, I will hand you over to those you
dread, who want to take your life—to
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and to the Chaldeans.
Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts concerning the prophets; Behold, I will feed them with
wormwood, and make them drink the water of gall: for from the prophets of Jerusalem is
profaneness gone forth into all the land.
Therefore this is what the LORD of Hosts says concerning the prophets: “I will feed them
