And I, behold, I will
harden the
hearts of the Egyptians, and they shall follow them: and I will get me honour upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host, upon his
chariots, and upon his
horsemen.
And I will
harden the
hearts of the Egyptians so that they will go in after them. Then I will gain honor by means of Pharaoh and all his army and
chariots and
horsemen.
And with the blast of thy nostrils the waters were gathered together, the floods stood upright as an
heap, and the depths were
congealed in the
heart of the sea.
At the blast of Your nostrils the waters piled up; like a wall the currents stood firm; the depths
congealed in the
heart of the sea.
The people shall hear, and be afraid: sorrow shall take hold on the inhabitants of Palestina.
And said, If thou
wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and
wilt do that which is right in his sight, and
wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee.
saying, “If you will
listen carefully to the voice of the LORD your God, and do what is right in His eyes, and pay attention to His commands, and keep all His statutes, then I will not bring on you any of the diseases I inflicted on the Egyptians. For I am the LORD who heals you.”
And in the morning, then ye shall see the glory of the LORD; for that he
heareth your murmurings against the LORD: and what are we, that ye
murmur against us?
and in the morning you will see the LORD’s glory, because He has
heard your
grumbling against Him. For who are we that you should
grumble against us?”
And Moses said, This shall be, when the LORD shall give you in the evening flesh to eat, and in the morning bread to the full; for that the LORD
heareth your murmurings which ye
murmur against him: and what are we? your murmurings are not against us, but against the LORD.
And Moses added, “The LORD will give you meat to eat this evening and bread to fill you in the morning, for He has
heard your
grumbling against Him. Who are we? Your grumblings are not against us but against the LORD.”
And Moses spake unto Aaron, Say unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, Come near before the LORD: for he hath heard your murmurings.
Then Moses said to Aaron, “Tell the whole congregation of Israel, ‘Come before the LORD, for He has
heard your
grumbling.’”
I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel: speak unto them, saying, At even ye shall eat flesh, and in the morning ye shall be filled with bread; and ye shall know that I am the LORD your God.
“I have
heard the
grumbling of the Israelites. Tell them, ‘At
twilight you will eat meat, and in the morning you will be filled with bread. Then you will know that I am the LORD your God.’”
Notwithstanding they
hearkened not unto Moses; but some of them left of it until the morning, and it
bred worms, and
stank: and Moses was
wroth with them.
But they did not
listen to Moses; some people left part of it until morning, and it became
infested with maggots and began to smell. So Moses was
angry with them.
When Jethro, the priest of
Midian, Moses’ father in law,
heard of all that God had done for Moses, and for Israel his people, and that the LORD had brought Israel out of Egypt;
Now Moses’ father-in-law Jethro, the priest of
Midian,
heard about all that God had done for Moses and His people Israel, and how the LORD had brought Israel out of Egypt.
Hearken now unto my voice, I will give thee counsel, and God shall be with thee: Be thou for the people to God-ward, that thou mayest bring the causes unto God:
Now
listen to me; I will give you some advice, and may God be with you. You must be the people’s representative before God and bring their causes to Him.
So Moses
hearkened to the voice of his father in law, and did all that he had said.
Moses
listened to his father-in-law and did everything he said.
And the LORD said unto Moses, Lo, I come unto thee in a thick cloud, that the people may hear when I speak with thee, and believe thee for ever. And Moses told the words of the people unto the LORD.
The LORD said to Moses, “Behold, I will come to you in a dense cloud, so that the people will hear when I speak with you, and they will always put their trust in you.” And Moses relayed to the LORD what the people had said.
And they said unto Moses, Speak thou with us, and we will hear: but let not God speak with us, lest we die.
“Speak to us
yourself and we will
listen,” they said to Moses. “But do not let God speak to us, or we will die.”
If thou
afflict them in any wise, and they cry at all unto me, I will surely
hear their cry;
If you do mistreat them, and they cry out to Me in distress, I will surely hear their cry.
For that is his covering only, it is his
raiment for his skin: wherein shall he sleep? and it shall come to pass, when he crieth unto me, that I will
hear; for I am
gracious.
because his
cloak is the only covering he has for his body. What else will he sleep in? And if he
cries out to Me, I will
hear, for I am
compassionate.
Also thou shalt not
oppress a stranger: for ye know the
heart of a stranger, seeing ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.
Do not
oppress a foreign resident, since you
yourselves know how it feels to be foreigners; for you were foreigners in the land of Egypt.
And in all things that I have said unto you be
circumspect: and make no mention of the name of other gods, neither let it be
heard out of thy mouth.
Pay close attention to everything I have said to you. You must not
invoke the names of other gods; they must not be
heard on your lips.
Speak unto the children of Israel, that they bring me an offering: of every man that giveth it willingly with his heart ye shall take my offering.
“Tell the Israelites to bring Me an offering. You are to receive My offering from every man whose heart compels him.
And thou shalt speak unto all that are wise
hearted, whom I have filled with the spirit of wisdom, that they may make Aaron’s garments to
consecrate him, that he may minister unto me in the priest’s office.
You are to
instruct all the skilled
craftsmen, whom I have filled with a spirit of wisdom, to make garments for Aaron’s
consecration, so that he may serve Me as priest.
And Aaron shall bear the names of the children of Israel in the
breastplate of judgment upon his
heart, when he goeth in unto the holy place, for a
memorial before the LORD continually.
Whenever Aaron enters the Holy Place, he shall bear the names of the sons of Israel over his heart on the breastpiece of judgment, as a continual reminder before the LORD.
And thou shalt put in the
breastplate of judgment the
Urim and the
Thummim; and they shall be upon Aaron’s
heart, when he goeth in before the LORD: and Aaron shall bear the judgment of the children of Israel upon his
heart before the LORD continually.
And place the
Urim and
Thummim in the breastpiece of judgment, so that they will also be over Aaron’s
heart whenever he comes before the LORD. Aaron will continually carry the judgment of the sons of Israel over his
heart before the LORD.
And it shall be upon Aaron to minister: and his sound shall be heard when he goeth in unto the holy place before the LORD, and when he cometh out, that he die not.
Aaron must wear the
robe whenever he ministers, and its sound will be
heard when he enters or exits the sanctuary before the LORD, so that he will not die.
And I, behold, I have given with him Aholiab, the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of
Dan: and in the
hearts of all that are wise
hearted I have put wisdom, that they may make all that I have commanded thee;
Moreover, I have selected Oholiab son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of
Dan, as his assistant. I have also given skill to all the
craftsmen, that they may fashion all that I have commanded you:
And when Joshua
heard the noise of the people as they
shouted, he said unto Moses, There is a noise of war in the camp.
When Joshua
heard the sound of the people
shouting, he said to Moses, “The sound of war is in the camp.”
And he said, It is not the voice of them that
shout for
mastery, neither is it the voice of them that cry for being overcome: but the noise of them that sing do I
hear.
But Moses replied: “It is neither the cry of victory nor the cry of defeat; I hear the sound of singing!”
And when the people
heard these evil
tidings, they
mourned: and no man did put on him his ornaments.
Take ye from among you an offering unto the LORD:
whosoever is of a willing
heart, let him bring it, an offering of the LORD; gold, and silver, and brass,
Take from among you an offering to the LORD. Let
everyone whose
heart is willing bring an offering to the LORD: gold, silver, and bronze;
And every wise hearted among you shall come, and make all that the LORD hath commanded;
Let every skilled
craftsman among you come and make everything that the LORD has commanded:
And they came, every one whose
heart stirred him up, and every one whom his spirit made willing, and they brought the LORD’S offering to the work of the tabernacle of the congregation, and for all his service, and for the holy garments.
And
everyone whose
heart stirred him and whose spirit
prompted him came and brought an offering to the LORD for the work on the Tent of Meeting, for all its services, and for the holy garments.
And they came, both men and women, as many as were willing hearted, and brought bracelets, and earrings, and rings, and tablets, all jewels of gold: and every man that offered offered an offering of gold unto the LORD.
So all who had willing
hearts, both men and women, came and brought brooches and earrings, rings and necklaces, and all kinds of gold
jewelry. And they all presented their gold as a wave offering to the LORD.
And all the women that were wise
hearted did
spin with their hands, and brought that which they had
spun, both of blue, and of purple, and of scarlet, and of fine linen.
Every skilled woman
spun with her hands and brought what she had
spun: blue, purple, or scarlet yarn, or fine linen.
And all the women whose
heart stirred them up in wisdom
spun goats’ hair.
And all the skilled women whose
hearts were
stirred spun the goat hair.
The children of Israel brought a willing offering unto the LORD, every man and woman, whose heart made them willing to bring for all manner of work, which the LORD had commanded to be made by the hand of Moses.
So all the men and women of the Israelites whose
hearts prompted them brought a
freewill offering to the LORD for all the work that the LORD through Moses had commanded them to do.
And he hath put in his
heart that he may teach, both he, and Aholiab, the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of
Dan.
And the LORD has given both him and Oholiab son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of
Dan, the ability to teach others.
Them hath he filled with wisdom of
heart, to work all manner of work, of the
engraver, and of the
cunning workman, and of the
embroiderer, in blue, and in purple, in scarlet, and in fine linen, and of the
weaver, even of them that do any work, and of those that
devise cunning work.
He has filled them with skill to do all kinds of work as engravers, designers, embroiderers in blue, purple, and scarlet yarn and fine linen, and as weavers—as artistic designers of every kind of craft.
Then wrought Bezaleel and Aholiab, and every wise hearted man, in whom the LORD put wisdom and understanding to know how to work all manner of work for the service of the sanctuary, according to all that the LORD had commanded.
“So Bezalel, Oholiab, and every skilled person are to carry out everything commanded by the LORD, who has given them skill and ability to know how to perform all the work of constructing the sanctuary.”
And Moses called Bezaleel and Aholiab, and every wise
hearted man, in whose
heart the LORD had put wisdom, even every one whose
heart stirred him up to come unto the work to do it:
Then Moses summoned Bezalel, Oholiab, and every skilled person whom the LORD had gifted—
everyone whose
heart stirred him to come and do the work.
And every wise
hearted man among them that wrought the work of the tabernacle made ten curtains of fine
twined linen, and blue, and purple, and scarlet: with cherubims of
cunning work made he them.
All the skilled
craftsmen among the workmen made the ten curtains for the tabernacle. They were made of finely
spun linen, as well as blue, purple, and scarlet yarn, with
cherubim skillfully worked into them.
And if a soul sin, and
hear the voice of
swearing, and is a witness, whether he hath seen or known of it; if he do not utter it, then he shall bear his iniquity.
“If someone sins by failing to
testify when he
hears a public charge about something he has witnessed, whether he has seen it or learned of it, he shall bear the iniquity.
Command Aaron and his sons, saying, This is the law of the burnt offering: It is the burnt offering, because of the burning upon the altar all night unto the morning, and the fire of the altar shall be burning in it.
“Command Aaron and his sons that this is the law of the burnt offering: The burnt offering is to remain on the
hearth of the altar all night, until morning, and the fire must be kept burning on the altar.
And when Moses heard that, he was content.
And when Moses heard this explanation, he was satisfied.
Thou shalt not
hate thy brother in thine
heart: thou shalt in any wise
rebuke thy neighbour, and not suffer sin upon him.
You must not
harbor hatred against your brother in your
heart. Directly
rebuke your
neighbor, so that you will not
incur guilt on account of him.
Bring forth him that hath
cursed without the camp; and let all that
heard him lay their hands upon his head, and let all the congregation stone him.
“Take the
blasphemer outside the camp, and have all who
heard him lay their hands on his head; then have the whole assembly stone him.
But if ye will not
hearken unto me, and will not do all these commandments;
If, however, you fail to obey Me and to carry out all these commandments,
I also will do this unto you; I will even
appoint over you terror, consumption, and the burning
ague, that shall
consume the eyes, and cause sorrow of
heart: and ye shall
sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it.
then this is what I will do to you: I will bring upon you sudden terror, wasting disease, and fever that will destroy your sight and
drain your life. You will
sow your seed in vain, because your enemies will eat it.
And if ye will not yet for all this
hearken unto me, then I will
punish you seven times more for your sins.
And if after all this you will not obey Me, I will proceed to
punish you
sevenfold for your sins.
And if ye walk contrary unto me, and will not
hearken unto me; I will bring seven times more plagues upon you according to your sins.
If you walk in hostility toward Me and refuse to obey Me, I will multiply your plagues seven times, according to your sins.
And if ye will not for all this
hearken unto me, but walk contrary unto me;
But if in spite of all this you do not obey Me, but continue to walk in hostility toward Me,
And upon them that are left alive of you I will send a
faintness into their
hearts in the lands of their enemies; and the sound of a
shaken leaf shall
chase them; and they shall
flee, as
fleeing from a sword; and they shall fall when none pursueth.
As for those of you who
survive, I will send a
faintness into their
hearts in the lands of their enemies, so that even the sound of a windblown leaf will put them to flight. And they will
flee as one flees the sword, and fall when no one pursues them.
And that I also have walked contrary unto them, and have brought them into the land of their enemies; if then their
uncircumcised hearts be humbled, and they then accept of the punishment of their iniquity:
and I acted with hostility toward them and brought them into the land of their enemies—and if their
uncircumcised hearts will be humbled and they will make
amends for their iniquity,
And when Moses was gone into the tabernacle of the congregation to speak with him, then he heard the voice of one speaking unto him from off the mercy seat that was upon the ark of testimony, from between the two cherubims: and he spake unto him.
When Moses entered the Tent of Meeting to speak with the LORD, he
heard the voice speaking to him from between the two
cherubim above the mercy seat on the ark of the Testimony. Thus the LORD spoke to him.
And Moses said unto them, Stand still, and I will hear what the LORD will command concerning you.
“Wait here until I find out what the LORD commands concerning you,” Moses replied.
And when the people
complained, it displeased the LORD: and the LORD
heard it; and his anger was
kindled; and the fire of the LORD burnt among them, and consumed them that were in the
uttermost parts of the camp.
Soon the people began to
complain about their
hardship in the
hearing of the LORD, and when He
heard them, His anger was
kindled, and fire from the LORD
blazed among them and consumed the outskirts of the camp.
Then Moses
heard the people
weep throughout their families, every man in the door of his tent: and the anger of the LORD was
kindled greatly; Moses also was displeased.
Then Moses
heard the people of family after family
weeping at the entrances to their tents, and the anger of the LORD was
kindled greatly, and Moses was also displeased.
And say thou unto the people,
Sanctify yourselves against to
morrow, and ye shall eat flesh: for ye have
wept in the ears of the LORD, saying, Who shall give us flesh to eat? for it was well with us in Egypt: therefore the LORD will give you flesh, and ye shall eat.
And say to the people:
Consecrate yourselves for
tomorrow, and you will eat meat, because you have
cried out in the
hearing of the LORD, saying: ‘Who will feed us meat? For we were better off in Egypt!’ Therefore the LORD will give you meat, and you will eat.
And they said, Hath the LORD indeed spoken only by Moses? hath he not spoken also by us? And the LORD heard it.
“Does the LORD speak only through Moses?” they said. “Does He not also speak through us?” And the LORD heard this.
And he said, Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among you, I the LORD will make myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak unto him in a dream.
He said, “
Hear now My words: If there is a prophet among you, I, the LORD, will
reveal Myself to him in a vision; I will speak to him in a dream.
And Moses said unto the LORD, Then the Egyptians shall hear it, (for thou broughtest up this people in thy might from among them;)
But Moses said to the LORD, “The Egyptians will hear of it, for by Your strength You brought this people from among them.
And they will tell it to the inhabitants of this land: for they have
heard that thou LORD art among this people, that thou LORD art seen face to face, and that thy cloud standeth over them, and that thou goest before them, by
daytime in a
pillar of a cloud, and in a
pillar of fire by night.
And they will tell it to the inhabitants of this land. They have already
heard that You, O LORD, are in the midst of this people, that You, O LORD, have been seen face to face, that Your cloud stands over them, and that You go before them in a
pillar of cloud by day and a
pillar of fire by night.
Now if thou shalt kill all this people as one man, then the nations which have heard the fame of thee will speak, saying,
If You kill this people as one man, the nations who have heard of Your fame will say,
Because all those men which have seen my glory, and my miracles, which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have
tempted me now these ten times, and have not
hearkened to my voice;
not one of the men who have seen My glory and the signs I performed in Egypt and in the wilderness—yet have tested Me and disobeyed Me these ten times—
How long shall I bear with this evil congregation, which
murmur against me? I have
heard the murmurings of the children of Israel, which they
murmur against me.
“How long will this wicked congregation
grumble against Me? I have
heard the complaints that the Israelites are making against Me.
Say unto them, As truly as I live, saith the LORD, as ye have spoken in mine ears, so will I do to you:
So tell them: As surely as I live, declares the LORD, I will do to you exactly as I heard you say.
And it shall be unto you for a
fringe, that ye may look upon it, and remember all the commandments of the LORD, and do them; and that ye seek not after your own
heart and your own eyes, after which ye use to go a
whoring:
These will serve as tassels for you to look at, so that you may remember all the commandments of the LORD, that you may obey them and not
prostitute yourselves by following your own
heart and your own eyes.
And when Moses heard it, he fell upon his face:
When Moses heard this, he fell facedown.
And Moses said unto
Korah,
Hear, I pray you, ye sons of Levi:
Moses also said to
Korah, “Now
listen, you sons of Levi!
And Moses and Aaron gathered the congregation together before the rock, and he said unto them,
Hear now, ye rebels; must we
fetch you water out of this rock?
Then Moses and Aaron gathered the assembly in front of the rock, and Moses said to them, “
Listen now, you rebels, must we bring you water out of this rock?”
And when we
cried unto the LORD, he
heard our voice, and sent an angel, and hath brought us forth out of Egypt: and, behold, we are in Kadesh, a city in the
uttermost of thy border:
and when we
cried out to the LORD, He
heard our voice, sent an angel, and brought us out of Egypt. Now look, we are in Kadesh, a city on the edge of your territory.
And when king
Arad the
Canaanite, which dwelt in the south,
heard tell that Israel came by the way of the
spies; then he fought against Israel, and took some of them prisoners.
When the
Canaanite king of
Arad, who lived in the Negev,
heard that Israel was coming along the road to Atharim, he attacked Israel and captured some prisoners.
And the LORD
hearkened to the voice of Israel, and delivered up the
Canaanites; and they utterly destroyed them and their cities: and he called the name of the place Hormah.
And the LORD
heard Israel’s
plea and delivered up the
Canaanites. Israel devoted them and their cities to destruction; so they named the place Hormah.
And when Balak
heard that
Balaam was come, he went out to meet him unto a city of Moab, which is in the border of
Arnon, which is in the utmost coast.
When Balak
heard that
Balaam was coming, he went out to meet him at the
Moabite city on the
Arnon border, at the edge of his territory.
And he took up his parable, and said, Rise up, Balak, and
hear;
hearken unto me, thou son of Zippor:
Then
Balaam lifted up an
oracle, saying: “Arise, O Balak, and
listen; give ear to me, O son of Zippor.
He hath said, which
heard the words of God, which saw the vision of the
Almighty, falling into a
trance, but having his eyes open:
the prophecy of one who
hears the words of God, who sees a vision from the
Almighty, who bows down with eyes wide open:
He hath said, which
heard the words of God, and knew the knowledge of the most High, which saw the vision of the
Almighty, falling into a
trance, but having his eyes open:
the prophecy of one who
hears the words of God, who has knowledge from the Most High, who sees a vision from the
Almighty, who bows down with eyes wide open:
And her father
hear her
vow, and her bond
wherewith she hath bound her soul, and her father shall hold his peace at her: then all her vows shall stand, and every bond
wherewith she hath bound her soul shall stand.
and her father
hears about her
vow or
pledge but says nothing to her, then all the vows or pledges by which she has bound herself shall stand.
But if her father disallow her in the day that he
heareth; not any of her vows, or of her bonds
wherewith she hath bound her soul, shall stand: and the LORD shall
forgive her, because her father disallowed her.
But if her father prohibits her on the day he
hears about it, then none of the vows or pledges by which she has bound herself shall stand. The LORD will
absolve her because her father has prohibited her.
And her husband
heard it, and held his peace at her in the day that he
heard it: then her vows shall stand, and her bonds
wherewith she bound her soul shall stand.
and her husband hears of it but says nothing to her on that day, then the vows or pledges by which she has bound herself shall stand.
But if her husband disallowed her on the day that he
heard it; then he shall make her
vow which she
vowed, and that which she uttered with her lips,
wherewith she bound her soul, of none effect: and the LORD shall
forgive her.
But if her husband prohibits her when he
hears of it, he nullifies the
vow that binds her or the
rash promise she has made, and the LORD will
absolve her.
And her husband
heard it, and held his peace at her, and disallowed her not: then all her vows shall stand, and every bond
wherewith she bound her soul shall stand.
and her husband
hears of it but says nothing to her and does not
prohibit her, then all the vows or pledges by which she has bound herself shall stand.
But if her husband hath utterly made them void on the day he
heard them; then
whatsoever proceeded out of her lips concerning her vows, or concerning the bond of her soul, shall not stand: her husband hath made them void; and the LORD shall
forgive her.
But if her husband nullifies them on the day he
hears of them, then nothing that came from her lips, whether her vows or pledges, shall stand. Her husband has
nullified them, and the LORD will
absolve her.
But if her husband altogether hold his peace at her from day to day; then he establisheth all her vows, or all her bonds, which are upon her: he confirmeth them, because he held his peace at her in the day that he heard them.
But if her husband says nothing to her from day to day, then he confirms all the vows and pledges that bind her. He has confirmed them, because he said nothing to her on the day he heard about them.
But if he shall any ways make them void after that he hath heard them; then he shall bear her iniquity.
But if he nullifies them after he hears of them, then he will bear her iniquity.”
And wherefore discourage ye the heart of the children of Israel from going over into the land which the LORD hath given them?
Why are you discouraging the Israelites from crossing into the land that the LORD has given them?
For when they went up unto the valley of
Eshcol, and saw the land, they discouraged the
heart of the children of Israel, that they should not go into the land which the LORD had given them.
For when your fathers went up to the Valley of
Eshcol and saw the land, they discouraged the Israelites from entering the land that the LORD had given them.
And king
Arad the
Canaanite, which dwelt in the south in the land of
Canaan,
heard of the coming of the children of Israel.
Now the
Canaanite king of
Arad, who lived in the Negev in the land of
Canaan,
heard that the Israelites were coming.
And I charged your judges at that time, saying, Hear the causes between your brethren, and judge righteously between every man and his brother, and the stranger that is with him.
At that time I charged your judges: “Hear the disputes between your brothers, and judge fairly between a man and his brother or a foreign resident.
Ye shall not respect persons in judgment; but ye shall hear the small as well as the great; ye shall not be afraid of the face of man; for the judgment is God’s: and the cause that is too hard for you, bring it unto me, and I will hear it.
Show no
partiality in judging;
hear both small and great alike. Do not be
intimidated by
anyone, for judgment belongs to God. And bring to me any case too difficult for you, and I will
hear it.”
Whither shall we go up? our brethren have discouraged our
heart, saying, The people is greater and taller than we; the cities are great and walled up to heaven; and moreover we have seen the sons of the Anakims there.
Where can we go? Our brothers have made our
hearts melt, saying: ‘The people are larger and taller than we are; the cities are large, with walls up to the heavens. We even saw the descendants of the
Anakim there.’”
And the LORD
heard the voice of your words, and was
wroth, and
sware, saying,
When the LORD
heard your words, He grew
angry and
swore an oath, saying,
So I spake unto you; and ye would not
hear, but rebelled against the commandment of the LORD, and went
presumptuously up into the hill.
So I spoke to you, but you would not
listen. You rebelled against the command of the LORD and
presumptuously went up into the hill country.
And ye returned and
wept before the LORD; but the LORD would not
hearken to your voice, nor give ear unto you.
And you returned and
wept before the LORD, but He would not
listen to your voice or give ear to you.
This day will I begin to put the
dread of thee and the fear of thee upon the nations that are under the whole heaven, who shall
hear report of thee, and shall
tremble, and be in
anguish because of thee.
This very day I will begin to put the
dread and fear of you upon all the nations under heaven. They will
hear the reports of you and
tremble in
anguish because of you.”
But Sihon king of
Heshbon would not let us pass by him: for the LORD thy God
hardened his spirit, and made his
heart obstinate, that he might deliver him into thy hand, as appeareth this day.
But Sihon king of
Heshbon would not let us pass through, for the LORD your God had made his spirit
stubborn and his
heart obstinate, that He might deliver him into your hand, as is the case this day.
But the LORD was
wroth with me for your sakes, and would not
hear me: and the LORD said unto me, Let it suffice thee; speak no more unto me of this matter.
But the LORD was
angry with me on account of you, and He would not
listen to me. “That is enough,” the LORD said to me. “Do not speak to Me again about this matter.
Now therefore
hearken, O Israel, unto the statutes and unto the judgments, which I teach you, for to do them, that ye may live, and go in and possess the land which the LORD God of your fathers giveth you.
Hear now, O Israel, the statutes and ordinances I am teaching you to follow, so that you may live and may enter and take possession of the land that the LORD, the God of your fathers, is giving you.
Keep therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the nations, which shall hear all these statutes, and say, Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.
Observe them carefully, for this will show your wisdom and understanding in the sight of the peoples, who will hear of all these statutes and say, “Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.”
Only take
heed to
thyself, and keep thy soul
diligently, lest thou
forget the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest they depart from thy
heart all the days of thy life: but teach them thy sons, and thy sons’ sons;
Only be on your guard and
diligently watch
yourselves, so that you do not
forget the things your eyes have seen, and so that they do not slip from your
heart as long as you live. Teach them to your children and grandchildren.
Specially the day that thou stoodest before the LORD thy God in
Horeb, when the LORD said unto me, Gather me the people together, and I will make them
hear my words, that they may learn to fear me all the days that they shall live upon the earth, and that they may teach their children.
The day you stood before the LORD your God at
Horeb, the LORD said to me, “Gather the people before Me to
hear My words, so that they may learn to fear Me all the days they live on the earth, and that they may teach them to their children.”
And the LORD spake unto you out of the midst of the fire: ye
heard the voice of the words, but saw no
similitude; only ye
heard a voice.
And the LORD spoke to you out of the fire. You heard the sound of the words, but saw no form; there was only a voice.
