Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and
rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of
hosts.
Your words were found, and I
ate them. Your words became my joy and my heart’s delight. For I bear Your name, O LORD God of
Hosts.
For thus saith the LORD of
hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will cause to cease out of this place in your eyes, and in your days, the voice of
mirth, and the voice of
gladness, the voice of the
bridegroom, and the voice of the
bride.
For this is what the LORD of
Hosts, the God of Israel, says: I am going to remove from this place, before your very eyes and in your days, the sounds of joy and
gladness, the voices of the
bride and
bridegroom.
And say, Hear ye the word of the LORD, O kings of Judah, and inhabitants of Jerusalem; Thus saith the LORD of
hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will bring evil upon this place, the which
whosoever heareth, his ears shall
tingle.
saying, ‘Hear the word of the LORD, O kings of Judah and residents of Jerusalem. This is what the LORD of
Hosts, the God of Israel, says: I am going to bring such
disaster on this place that the ears of all who hear of it will ring,
And shalt say unto them, Thus saith the LORD of
hosts; Even so will I break this people and this city, as one breaketh a
potter’s vessel, that cannot be made whole again: and they shall
bury them in
Tophet, till there be no place to
bury.
and you are to
proclaim to them that this is what the LORD of
Hosts says: I will
shatter this nation and this city, like one
shatters a
potter’s
jar that can never again be repaired. They will
bury the dead in Topheth until there is no more room to
bury them.
And the houses of Jerusalem, and the houses of the kings of Judah, shall be
defiled as the place of
Tophet, because of all the houses upon whose roofs they have burned incense unto all the
host of heaven, and have poured out drink offerings unto other gods.
The houses of Jerusalem and the houses of the kings of Judah will be
defiled like that place, Topheth—all the houses on whose rooftops they burned incense to all the
host of heaven and poured out drink offerings to other gods.”
Thus saith the LORD of
hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will bring upon this city and upon all her towns all the evil that I have pronounced against it, because they have
hardened their necks, that they might not hear my words.

Hosts, the God of Israel, says: ‘Behold, I am about to bring on this city and on all the villages around it every
disaster I have pronounced against them, because they have
stiffened their necks so as not to
heed My words.’”
But, O LORD of
hosts, that triest the righteous, and seest the
reins and the heart, let me see thy
vengeance on them: for unto thee have I opened my cause.
O LORD of
Hosts, who examines the righteous, who sees the heart and mind, let me see Your
vengeance upon them, for to You I have committed my cause.
Therefore thus saith the LORD of
hosts concerning the prophets; Behold, I will feed them with
wormwood, and make them drink the water of gall: for from the prophets of Jerusalem is
profaneness gone forth into all the land.
Therefore this is what the LORD of
Hosts says concerning the prophets: “I will feed them
wormwood and give them poisoned water to drink, for from the prophets of Jerusalem
ungodliness has spread throughout the land.”
Thus saith the LORD of
hosts,
Hearken not unto the words of the prophets that
prophesy unto you: they make you vain: they speak a vision of their own heart, and not out of the mouth of the LORD.
This is what the LORD of
Hosts says: “Do not
listen to the words of the prophets who
prophesy to you. They are filling you with false hopes. They speak visions from their own minds, not from the mouth of the LORD.
And the burden of the LORD shall ye mention no more: for every man’s word shall be his burden; for ye have
perverted the words of the living God, of the LORD of
hosts our God.
But refer no more to the burden of the LORD, for each man’s word becomes the burden, so that you
pervert the words of the living God, the LORD of
Hosts, our God.
Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts; Because ye have not heard my words,
Therefore this is what the LORD of Hosts says: ‘Because you have not obeyed My words,
Therefore thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the LORD of
hosts, the God of Israel; Drink ye, and be
drunken, and
spue, and fall, and rise no more, because of the sword which I will send among you.
“Then you are to tell them that this is what the LORD of
Hosts, the God of Israel, says: ‘Drink, get
drunk, and
vomit. Fall down and never get up again, because of the sword I will send among you.’
And it shall be, if they refuse to take the cup at thine hand to drink, then shalt thou say unto them, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Ye shall certainly drink.
If they refuse to take the cup from your hand and drink it, you are to tell them that this is what the LORD of Hosts says: ‘You most certainly must drink it!
For, lo, I begin to bring evil on the city which is called by my name, and should ye be utterly unpunished? Ye shall not be unpunished: for I will call for a sword upon all the inhabitants of the earth, saith the LORD of hosts.
For behold, I am beginning to bring
disaster on the city that bears My Name, so how could you possibly go unpunished? You will not go unpunished, for I am calling down a sword upon all the inhabitants of the earth, declares the LORD of
Hosts.’
Thus saith the LORD of
hosts, Behold, evil shall go forth from nation to nation, and a great
whirlwind shall be raised up from the coasts of the earth.
This is what the LORD of
Hosts says: “Behold!
Disaster is spreading from nation to nation; a mighty storm is rising from the ends of the earth.”
Micah the Morasthite
prophesied in the days of
Hezekiah king of Judah, and spake to all the people of Judah, saying, Thus saith the LORD of
hosts;
Zion shall be
plowed like a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the mountain of the house as the high places of a forest.
“
Micah the Moreshite
prophesied in the days of
Hezekiah king of Judah and told all the people of Judah that this is what the LORD of
Hosts says: ‘
Zion will be
plowed like a field, Jerusalem will become a
heap of
rubble, and the temple mount a wooded ridge.’
And command them to say unto their masters, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Thus shall ye say unto your masters;
Give them a message from the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, to relay to their masters:
But if they be prophets, and if the word of the LORD be with them, let them now make
intercession to the LORD of
hosts, that the vessels which are left in the house of the LORD, and in the house of the king of Judah, and at Jerusalem, go not to Babylon.
If they are indeed prophets and the word of the LORD is with them, let them now
plead with the LORD of
Hosts that the articles remaining in the house of the LORD, in the palace of the king of Judah, and in Jerusalem, not be taken to Babylon.
For thus saith the LORD of hosts concerning the pillars, and concerning the sea, and concerning the bases, and concerning the residue of the vessels that remain in this city,
For this is what the LORD of Hosts says about the pillars, the sea, the bases, and the rest of the articles that remain in this city,
Yea, thus saith the LORD of
hosts, the God of Israel, concerning the vessels that remain in the house of the LORD, and in the house of the king of Judah and of Jerusalem;
Yes, this is what the LORD of
Hosts, the God of Israel, says about the articles that remain in the house of the LORD, in the palace of the king of Judah, and in Jerusalem:
Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, saying, I have broken the yoke of the king of Babylon.
“This is what the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: ‘I have broken the yoke of the king of Babylon.
For thus saith the LORD of
hosts, the God of Israel; I have put a yoke of iron upon the neck of all these nations, that they may serve
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon; and they shall serve him: and I have given him the beasts of the field also.
For this is what the LORD of
Hosts, the God of Israel, says: ‘I have put a yoke of iron on the neck of all these nations to make them serve
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and they will serve him. I have even given him control of the beasts of the field.’”
Thus saith the LORD of
hosts, the God of Israel, unto all that are carried away
captives, whom I have caused to be carried away from Jerusalem unto Babylon;
This is what the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, says to all the exiles who were carried away from Jerusalem to Babylon:
For thus saith the LORD of
hosts, the God of Israel; Let not your prophets and your diviners, that be in the midst of you,
deceive you, neither
hearken to your dreams which ye cause to be dreamed.
For this is what the LORD of
Hosts, the God of Israel, says: “Do not be
deceived by the prophets and diviners among you, and do not
listen to the dreams you
elicit from them.
Thus saith the LORD of
hosts; Behold, I will send upon them the sword, the famine, and the
pestilence, and will make them like
vile figs, that cannot be eaten, they are so evil.

Hosts says: “I will send against them sword and famine and plague, and I will make them like
rotten figs, so bad they cannot be eaten.
Thus saith the LORD of
hosts, the God of Israel, of
Ahab the son of Kolaiah, and of
Zedekiah the son of Maaseiah, which
prophesy a lie unto you in my name; Behold, I will deliver them into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon; and he shall
slay them before your eyes;
This is what the LORD of
Hosts, the God of Israel, says about
Ahab son of Kolaiah and
Zedekiah son of Maaseiah, who are
prophesying to you lies in My name: “I will deliver them to
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and he will kill them before your very eyes.
Thus speaketh the LORD of
hosts, the God of Israel, saying, Because thou hast sent letters in thy name unto all the people that are at Jerusalem, and to
Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah the priest, and to all the priests, saying,
this is what the LORD of
Hosts, the God of Israel, says: “In your own name you have sent out letters to all the people of Jerusalem, to the priest
Zephaniah son of Maaseiah, and to all the priests. You said to
Zephaniah:
For it shall come to pass in that day, saith the LORD of
hosts, that I will break his yoke from off thy neck, and will
burst thy bonds, and strangers shall no more serve themselves of him:
On that day, declares the LORD of
Hosts, I will break the yoke off their necks and
tear off their bonds, and no longer will strangers
enslave them.
Thus saith the LORD of
hosts, the God of Israel; As yet they shall use this speech in the land of Judah and in the cities thereof, when I shall bring again their captivity; The LORD
bless thee, O
habitation of justice, and mountain of
holiness.
This is what the LORD of
Hosts, the God of Israel, says: “When I restore them from captivity, they will once again speak this word in the land of Judah and in its cities: ‘May the LORD
bless you, O righteous dwelling place, O holy mountain.’
Thus saith the LORD, which giveth the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, which divideth the sea when the waves thereof
roar; The LORD of
hosts is his name:
Thus says the LORD, who gives the sun for light by day, who sets in order the moon and stars for light by night, who stirs up the sea so that its waves
roar—the LORD of
Hosts is His name:
Thus saith the LORD of
hosts, the God of Israel; Take these evidences, this evidence of the purchase, both which is sealed, and this evidence which is open; and put them in an
earthen vessel, that they may continue many days.
“This is what the LORD of
Hosts, the God of Israel, says: Take these deeds—both the sealed copy and the open copy of the deed of purchase—and put them in a clay
jar to preserve them for a long time.
For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Houses and fields and vineyards shall be possessed again in this land.
For this is what the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: Houses, fields, and vineyards will again be bought in this land.”
Thou shewest lovingkindness unto thousands, and recompensest the iniquity of the fathers into the
bosom of their children after them: the Great, the Mighty God, the LORD of
hosts, is his name,
You show loving devotion to thousands but lay the iniquity of the fathers into the laps of their children after them, O great and mighty God whose name is the LORD of Hosts,
The voice of joy, and the voice of
gladness, the voice of the
bridegroom, and the voice of the
bride, the voice of them that shall say, Praise the LORD of
hosts: for the LORD is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: and of them that shall bring the sacrifice of praise into the house of the LORD. For I will cause to return the captivity of the land, as at the first, saith the LORD.
the sounds of joy and
gladness, the voices of the
bride and
bridegroom, and the voices of those bringing
thank offerings into the house of the LORD, saying: ‘Give
thanks to the LORD of
Hosts, for the LORD is good; His loving devotion endures
forever.’ For I will restore the land from captivity as in former times, says the LORD.
Thus saith the LORD of
hosts; Again in this place, which is
desolate without man and without beast, and in all the cities thereof, shall be an
habitation of
shepherds causing their flocks to lie down.
This is what the LORD of
Hosts says: In this
desolate place, without man or beast, and in all its cities, there will once more be pastures for
shepherds to rest their flocks.
As the host of heaven cannot be numbered, neither the sand of the sea measured: so will I multiply the seed of David my servant, and the Levites that minister unto me.
As the
hosts of heaven cannot be counted and as the sand on the
seashore cannot be measured, so too will I multiply the descendants of My servant David and the Levites who minister before Me.”
Thus saith the LORD of
hosts, the God of Israel; Go and tell the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, Will ye not receive instruction to
hearken to my words? saith the LORD.
“This is what the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: Go and tell the men of Judah and the residents of Jerusalem: ‘Will you not accept discipline and obey My words?’ declares the LORD.
Therefore thus saith the LORD God of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will bring upon Judah and upon all the inhabitants of Jerusalem all the evil that I have pronounced against them: because I have spoken unto them, but they have not heard; and I have called unto them, but they have not answered.
Therefore this is what the LORD God of
Hosts, the God of Israel, says: ‘Behold, I will bring to Judah and to all the residents of Jerusalem all the
disaster I have pronounced against them, because I have spoken to them but they have not obeyed, and I have called to them but they have not answered.’”
And Jeremiah said unto the house of the
Rechabites, Thus saith the LORD of
hosts, the God of Israel; Because ye have obeyed the commandment of Jonadab your father, and kept all his precepts, and done according unto all that he hath commanded you:
Then Jeremiah said to the house of the
Rechabites: “This is what the LORD of
Hosts, the God of Israel, says: ‘Because you have obeyed the command of your
forefather Jonadab and have kept all his commandments and have done all that he charged you to do,
Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Jonadab the son of Rechab shall not want a man to stand before me for ever.
this is what the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: Jonadab son of Rechab will never fail to have a man to stand before Me.’”

Zedekiah, Thus saith the LORD, the God of
hosts, the God of Israel; If thou
wilt assuredly go forth unto the king of Babylon’s princes, then thy soul shall live, and this city shall not be burned with fire; and thou shalt live, and thine house:
Then Jeremiah said to
Zedekiah, “This is what the LORD God of
Hosts, the God of Israel, says: ‘If you indeed surrender to the officers of the king of Babylon, then you will live, this city will not be burned down, and you and your household will
survive.
Go and speak to Ebed-melech the
Ethiopian, saying, Thus saith the LORD of
hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will bring my words upon this city for evil, and not for good; and they shall be accomplished in that day before thee.
“Go and tell Ebed-melech the
Cushite that this is what the LORD of
Hosts, the God of Israel, says: ‘I am about to
fulfill My words against this city for
harm and not for good, and on that day they will be fulfilled before your eyes.
And now therefore hear the word of the LORD, ye
remnant of Judah; Thus saith the LORD of
hosts, the God of Israel; If ye wholly set your faces to enter into Egypt, and go to
sojourn there;
then hear the word of the LORD, O
remnant of Judah! This is what the LORD of
Hosts, the God of Israel, says: ‘If you are determined to go to Egypt and reside there,
For thus saith the LORD of
hosts, the God of Israel; As mine anger and my
fury hath been poured forth upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem; so shall my
fury be poured forth upon you, when ye shall enter into Egypt: and ye shall be an
execration, and an
astonishment, and a
curse, and a reproach; and ye shall see this place no more.
For this is what the LORD of
Hosts, the God of Israel, says: ‘Just as My anger and wrath were poured out on the residents of Jerusalem, so will My wrath be poured out on you if you go to Egypt. You will become an object of
cursing and
horror, of
vilification and disgrace, and you will never see this place again.’
And say unto them, Thus saith the LORD of
hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will send and take Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon, my servant, and will set his throne upon these stones that I have
hid; and he shall spread his royal
pavilion over them.
Then tell them that this is what the LORD of
Hosts, the God of Israel, says: ‘I will send for My servant
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and I will set his throne over these stones that I have
embedded, and he will spread his royal
pavilion over them.
Thus saith the LORD of
hosts, the God of Israel; Ye have seen all the evil that I have brought upon Jerusalem, and upon all the cities of Judah; and, behold, this day they are a
desolation, and no man dwelleth therein,
“This is what the LORD of
Hosts, the God of Israel, says: You have seen all the
disaster that I brought against Jerusalem and all the cities of Judah; and behold, they lie
today in ruins and
desolation Therefore now thus saith the LORD, the God of
hosts, the God of Israel; Wherefore commit ye this great evil against your souls, to cut off from you man and woman, child and
suckling, out of Judah, to leave you none to remain;
So now, this is what the LORD God of
Hosts, the God of Israel, says: Why are you doing such great
harm to
yourselves by cutting off from Judah man and woman, child and infant, leaving
yourselves without a
remnant?
Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will set my face against you for evil, and to cut off all Judah.
Therefore this is what the LORD of
Hosts, the God of Israel, says: I will set My face to bring
disaster and to cut off all Judah.
Thus saith the LORD of
hosts, the God of Israel, saying; Ye and your wives have both spoken with your mouths, and fulfilled with your hand, saying, We will surely perform our vows that we have
vowed, to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her: ye will surely
accomplish your vows, and surely perform your vows.
This is what the LORD of
Hosts, the God of Israel, says: As for you and your wives, you have spoken with your mouths and fulfilled with your hands your words: ‘We will surely perform our vows that we have made to burn incense to the Queen of Heaven and to pour out drink offerings to her.’ Go
ahead, then, do what you have promised! Keep your vows!
For this is the day of the Lord GOD of
hosts, a day of
vengeance, that he may
avenge him of his
adversaries: and the sword shall
devour, and it shall be
satiate and made
drunk with their blood: for the Lord GOD of
hosts hath a sacrifice in the north country by the river Euphrates.
For that day belongs to the Lord GOD of
Hosts, a day of
vengeance against His foes. The sword will
devour until it is satisfied, until it is
quenched with their blood. For the Lord GOD of
Hosts will hold a sacrifice in the land of the north by the River Euphrates.
As I live, saith the King, whose name is the LORD of
hosts, Surely as
Tabor is among the mountains, and as
Carmel by the sea, so shall he come.
As surely as I live, declares the King, whose name is the LORD of
Hosts, there will come one who is like
Tabor among the mountains and like
Carmel by the sea.
The LORD of
hosts, the God of Israel, saith; Behold, I will
punish the multitude of No, and Pharaoh, and Egypt, with their gods, and their kings; even Pharaoh, and all them that trust in him:
The LORD of
Hosts, the God of Israel, says: “Behold, I am about to
punish Amon god of
Thebes, along with Pharaoh, Egypt with her gods and kings, and those who trust in Pharaoh.
Against Moab thus saith the LORD of
hosts, the God of Israel;
Woe unto
Nebo! for it is
spoiled: Kiriathaim is confounded and taken: Misgab is confounded and dismayed.
Concerning Moab, this is what the LORD of
Hosts, the God of Israel, says: “
Woe to
Nebo, for it will be
devastated. Kiriathaim will be captured and disgraced; the fortress will be
shattered and
dismantled.
Moab is
spoiled, and gone up out of her cities, and his chosen young men are gone down to the slaughter, saith the King, whose name is the LORD of
hosts.
Moab has been destroyed and its towns have been invaded; the best of its young men have gone down in the slaughter, declares the King, whose name is the LORD of Hosts.
Behold, I will bring a fear upon thee, saith the Lord GOD of hosts, from all those that be about thee; and ye shall be driven out every man right forth; and none shall gather up him that wandereth.
Behold, I am about to bring terror upon you, declares the Lord GOD of
Hosts, from all those around you. You will each be driven
headlong, with no one to regather the fugitives.
Concerning
Edom, thus saith the LORD of
hosts; Is wisdom no more in Teman? is counsel perished from the
prudent? is their wisdom
vanished?
Concerning
Edom, this is what the LORD of
Hosts says: “Is there no longer wisdom in Teman? Has counsel perished from the
prudent? Has their wisdom decayed?
Therefore her young men shall fall in her streets, and all the men of war shall be cut off in that day, saith the LORD of hosts.
For her young men will fall in the streets, and all her warriors will be silenced in that day,” declares the LORD of Hosts.

hosts; Behold, I will break the bow of
Elam, the chief of their might.
This is what the LORD of
Hosts says: “Behold, I will
shatter Elam’s bow, the
mainstay of their might.
Therefore thus saith the LORD of
hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will
punish the king of Babylon and his land, as I have punished the king of Assyria.
Therefore this is what the LORD of
Hosts, the God of Israel, says: “I will
punish the king of Babylon and his land as I punished the king of Assyria.
The LORD hath opened his armoury, and hath brought forth the weapons of his
indignation: for this is the work of the Lord GOD of
hosts in the land of the Chaldeans.
The LORD has opened His
armory and brought out His weapons of wrath, for this is the work of the Lord GOD of
Hosts in the land of the Chaldeans.
Behold, I am against thee, O thou most proud, saith the Lord GOD of hosts: for thy day is come, the time that I will visit thee.
“Behold, I am against you, O
arrogant one,” declares the Lord GOD of
Hosts, “for your day has come, the time when I will
punish you.
Thus saith the LORD of
hosts; The children of Israel and the children of Judah were
oppressed together: and all that took them
captives held them fast; they refused to let them go.
This is what the LORD of
Hosts says: “The sons of Israel are
oppressed, and the sons of Judah as well. All their captors hold them fast, refusing to release them.
Their
Redeemer is strong; the LORD of
hosts is his name: he shall throughly
plead their cause, that he may give rest to the land, and disquiet the inhabitants of Babylon.
Their
Redeemer is strong; the LORD of
Hosts is His name. He will
fervently plead their case so that He may bring rest to the earth, but
turmoil to those who live in Babylon.
Against him that bendeth let the archer bend his bow, and against him that lifteth himself up in his
brigandine: and
spare ye not her young men; destroy ye utterly all her
host.
Do not let the archer bend his bow or put on his
armor. Do not
spare her young men;
devote all her army to destruction!
For Israel hath not been
forsaken, nor Judah of his God, of the LORD of
hosts; though their land was filled with sin against the Holy One of Israel.
For Israel and Judah have not been abandoned by their God, the LORD of Hosts, though their land is full of guilt before the Holy One of Israel.”
The LORD of
hosts hath
sworn by himself, saying, Surely I will fill thee with men, as with caterpillers; and they shall lift up a
shout against thee.
The LORD of
Hosts has
sworn by Himself: “Surely I will fill you up with men as with locusts, and they will
shout in triumph over you.”
The portion of Jacob is not like them; for he is the former of all things: and Israel is the rod of his inheritance: the LORD of hosts is his name.
The Portion of Jacob is not like these, for He is the Maker of all things, and of the tribe of His inheritance— the LORD of Hosts is His name.
For thus saith the LORD of
hosts, the God of Israel; The daughter of Babylon is like a threshingfloor, it is time to
thresh her: yet a little while, and the time of her harvest shall come.
For this is what the LORD of
Hosts, the God of Israel, says: “The Daughter of Babylon is like a
threshing floor at the time it is
trampled. In just a little while her harvest time will come.”
And I will make
drunk her princes, and her wise men, her captains, and her rulers, and her mighty men: and they shall sleep a perpetual sleep, and not
wake, saith the King, whose name is the LORD of
hosts.
I will make her princes and wise men
drunk, along with her governors, officials, and warriors. Then they will fall
asleep forever and not
wake up,” declares the King, whose name is the LORD of
Hosts.
Thus saith the LORD of
hosts; The broad walls of Babylon shall be utterly broken, and her high gates shall be burned with fire; and the people shall labour in vain, and the
folk in the fire, and they shall be
weary.
This is what the LORD of
Hosts says: “Babylon’s thick walls will be leveled, and her high gates consumed by fire. So the labor of the people will be for nothing; the nations will
exhaust themselves to fuel the flames.”
He took also out of the city an
eunuch, which had the charge of the men of war; and seven men of them that were near the king’s person, which were found in the city; and the principal
scribe of the
host, who
mustered the people of the land; and
threescore men of the people of the land, that were found in the midst of the city.
Of those still in the city, he took a court official who had been appointed over the men of war, as well as seven trusted royal advisers. He also took the
scribe of the captain of the army, who had
enlisted the people of the land, and sixty men who were found in the city.
And when they went, I heard the noise of their wings, like the noise of great waters, as the voice of the
Almighty, the voice of speech, as the noise of an
host: when they stood, they let down their wings.
When the creatures moved, I heard the sound of their wings like the
roar of many waters, like the voice of the
Almighty, like the
tumult of an army. When they stood still, they lowered their wings.
And they shall come against thee with
chariots, wagons, and wheels, and with an assembly of people, which shall set against thee
buckler and shield and
helmet round about: and I will set judgment before them, and they shall judge thee according to their judgments.
They will come against you with a
host of peoples, with weapons,
chariots, and wagons. They will
array themselves against you on every side with
buckler and shield and
helmet. I will
delegate judgment to them, and they will
punish you according to their own standards.
Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because the Philistines have dealt by
revenge, and have taken
vengeance with a
despiteful heart, to destroy it for the old hatred;
This is what the Lord GOD says: ‘Because the Philistines acted in
vengeance, taking
vengeance with
malice of soul to destroy Judah with ancient
hostility,
And it waxed great, even to the host of heaven; and it cast down some of the host and of the stars to the ground, and stamped upon them.
It grew as high as the
host of heaven, and it cast down some of the
host and some of the stars to the earth, and
trampled them.
Yea, he
magnified himself even to the prince of the
host, and by him the daily sacrifice was taken away, and the place of his sanctuary was cast down.
It
magnified itself, even to the Prince of the
host; it removed His daily sacrifice and overthrew the place of His sanctuary.
And an
host was given him against the daily sacrifice by reason of
transgression, and it cast down the truth to the ground; and it practised, and
prospered.
And in the rebellion, the
host and the daily sacrifice were given over to the horn, and it
flung truth to the ground and
prospered in whatever it did.
Then I heard one saint speaking, and another saint said unto that certain saint which spake, How long shall be the vision concerning the daily sacrifice, and the
transgression of
desolation, to give both the sanctuary and the
host to be
trodden under foot?
Then I heard a holy one speaking, and another holy one said to him, “How long until the
fulfillment of the vision of the daily sacrifice, the rebellion that causes
desolation, and the surrender of the sanctuary and of the
host to be
trampled?”
The days of
visitation are come, the days of recompence are come; Israel shall know it: the prophet is a
fool, the spiritual man is
mad, for the multitude of thine iniquity, and the great hatred.
The days of punishment have come; the days of
retribution have arrived— let Israel know it. The prophet is called a
fool, and the inspired man
insane, because of the greatness of your iniquity and
hostility.
The
watchman of Ephraim was with my God: but the prophet is a
snare of a fowler in all his ways, and hatred in the house of his God.
The prophet is Ephraim’s
watchman, along with my God, yet the
snare of the fowler lies on all his paths.
Hostility is in the house of his God!
Even the LORD God of
hosts; the LORD is his
memorial.
the LORD is the God of
Hosts— the LORD is His name of
renown.
Hear ye, and
testify in the house of Jacob, saith the Lord GOD, the God of
hosts,
Hear and
testify against the house of Jacob, declares the Lord GOD, the God of
Hosts.
For, lo, he that formeth the mountains, and createth the wind, and declareth unto man what is his thought, that maketh the morning darkness, and treadeth upon the high places of the earth, The LORD, The God of hosts, is his name.
For behold, He who forms the mountains, who creates the wind and reveals His thoughts to man, who turns the
dawn to darkness and strides on the heights of the earth— the LORD, the God of
Hosts, is His name.”
Seek good, and not evil, that ye may live: and so the LORD, the God of hosts, shall be with you, as ye have spoken.
Seek good, not evil, so that you may live. And the LORD, the God of Hosts, will be with you, as you have claimed.
Hate the evil, and love the good, and establish judgment in the gate: it may be that the LORD God of
hosts will be
gracious unto the
remnant of Joseph.
Hate evil and love good; establish justice in the gate. Perhaps the LORD, the God of
Hosts, will be
gracious to the
remnant of Joseph.”
Therefore this is what the LORD, the God of
Hosts, the Lord, says: “There will be
wailing in all the public squares and
cries of ‘
Alas!
Alas!’ in all the streets. The farmer will be summoned to
mourn, and the mourners to
wail.
Therefore will I cause you to go into captivity beyond Damascus, saith the LORD, whose name is The God of hosts.
Therefore I will send you into exile beyond Damascus,” says the LORD, whose name is the God of Hosts.
The Lord GOD hath
sworn by himself, saith the LORD the God of
hosts, I
abhor the
excellency of Jacob, and
hate his palaces: therefore will I deliver up the city with all that is therein.
The Lord GOD has
sworn by Himself—the LORD, the God of
Hosts, has declared: “I
abhor Jacob’s pride and
detest his citadels, so I will deliver up the city and everything in it.”
But, behold, I will raise up against you a nation, O house of Israel, saith the LORD the God of
hosts; and they shall
afflict you from the entering in of Hemath unto the river of the wilderness.
For behold, I will raise up a nation against you, O house of Israel,” declares the LORD, the God of
Hosts, “and they will
oppress you from Lebo-
hamath to the
Brook of the Arabah.”
And the Lord GOD of
hosts is he that toucheth the land, and it shall
melt, and all that dwell therein shall
mourn: and it shall rise up wholly like a flood; and shall be
drowned, as by the flood of Egypt.
The Lord GOD of
Hosts, He who touches the earth and it melts, and all its dwellers
mourn— all the land rises like the Nile, then sinks like the river of Egypt—
And the captivity of this
host of the children of Israel shall possess that of the
Canaanites, even unto Zarephath; and the captivity of Jerusalem, which is in Sepharad, shall possess the cities of the south.
And the exiles of this
host of the Israelites will possess the land of the
Canaanites as far as Zarephath; and the exiles from Jerusalem who are in Sepharad will possess the cities of the Negev.
But they shall sit every man under his vine and under his fig tree; and none shall make them afraid: for the mouth of the LORD of hosts hath spoken it.
And each man will sit under his own vine and under his own fig tree, with no one to
frighten him. For the mouth of the LORD of
Hosts has spoken.
Behold, I am against thee, saith the LORD of
hosts, and I will burn her
chariots in the smoke, and the sword shall
devour thy young lions: and I will cut off thy prey from the earth, and the voice of thy messengers shall no more be heard.
“Behold, I am against you,” declares the LORD of
Hosts. “I will send your
chariots up in smoke, and the sword will
devour your young lions. I will cut off your prey from the earth, and the voices of your messengers will no longer be heard.”
Behold, I am against thee, saith the LORD of
hosts; and I will discover thy skirts upon thy face, and I will
shew the nations thy nakedness, and the kingdoms thy shame.
“Behold, I am against you,” declares the LORD of Hosts. “I will lift your skirts over your face. I will show your nakedness to the nations and your shame to the kingdoms.
Behold, is it not of the LORD of
hosts that the people shall labour in the very fire, and the people shall
weary themselves for very vanity?
Is it not indeed from the LORD of
Hosts that the labor of the people only feeds the fire, and the nations
weary themselves in vain?
And them that worship the
host of heaven upon the housetops; and them that worship and that
swear by the LORD, and that
swear by Malcham;
those who bow on the rooftops to worship the
host of heaven, those who bow down and
swear by the LORD but also
swear by Milcom,
Therefore as I live, saith the LORD of
hosts, the God of Israel, Surely Moab shall be as
Sodom, and the children of
Ammon as
Gomorrah, even the breeding of
nettles, and saltpits, and a perpetual
desolation: the residue of my people shall
spoil them, and the
remnant of my people shall possess them.
Therefore, as surely as I live,” declares the LORD of
Hosts, the God of Israel, “surely Moab will be like
Sodom and the
Ammonites like
Gomorrah— a place of weeds and salt pits, a perpetual wasteland. The
remnant of My people will
plunder them; the remainder of My nation will dispossess them.”
This shall they have for their pride, because they have reproached and
magnified themselves against the people of the LORD of
hosts.
This they shall have in return for their pride, for
taunting and
mocking the people of the LORD of
Hosts.
Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, This people say, The time is not come, the time that the LORD’S house should be built.
that this is what the LORD of Hosts says: “These people say, ‘The time has not yet come to rebuild the house of the LORD.’”
Now therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways.
Now this is what the LORD of Hosts says: “Consider carefully your ways.
