Except the LORD of hosts had
left unto us a very small
remnant, we should have been as
Sodom, and we should have been like unto
Gomorrah.
Unless the LORD of Hosts had
left us a few survivors, we would have become like
Sodom, we would have resembled
Gomorrah.
And it shall come to pass, that he that is
left in
Zion, and he that remaineth in Jerusalem, shall be called holy, even every one that is written among the living in Jerusalem:
Whoever remains in
Zion and
whoever is
left in Jerusalem will be called holy— all in Jerusalem who are recorded among the living—
Woe unto them that join house to house, that lay field to field, till there be no place, that they may be placed alone in the midst of the earth!
Woe to you who add house to house and join field to field until no place is
left and you live alone in the land.
In mine ears said the LORD of hosts, Of a truth many houses shall be
desolate, even great and fair, without inhabitant.
I heard the LORD of Hosts declare: “Surely many houses will become
desolate, great mansions
left unoccupied.
Then said I, Lord, how long? And he answered, Until the cities be wasted without inhabitant, and the houses without man, and the land be utterly
desolate,
Then I asked: “How long, O Lord?” And He replied: “Until the cities lie ruined and without inhabitant, until the houses are
left unoccupied and the land is
desolate and
ravaged,
And it shall come to pass, for the abundance of milk that they shall give he shall eat butter: for butter and honey shall every one eat that is left in the land.
and from the abundance of milk they give, he will eat curds; for all who remain in the land will eat curds and honey.
And he shall
snatch on the right hand, and be
hungry; and he shall eat on the
left hand, and they shall not be satisfied: they shall eat every man the flesh of his own arm:
They
carve out what is on the right, but they are still
hungry; they eat what is on the
left, but they are still not satisfied. Each one devours the flesh of his own offspring.
And my hand hath found as a nest the riches of the people: and as one gathereth eggs that are
left, have I gathered all the earth; and there was none that moved the wing, or opened the mouth, or
peeped.
My hand reached as into a nest to seize the wealth of the nations. Like one gathering abandoned eggs, I gathered all the earth. No wing
fluttered, no
beak opened or
chirped.’”
And it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord shall set his hand again the second time to recover the
remnant of his people, which shall be
left, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from
Cush, and from
Elam, and from
Shinar, and from
Hamath, and from the islands of the sea.
On that day the Lord will extend His hand a second time to recover the
remnant of His people from Assyria, from Egypt, from Pathros, from
Cush, from
Elam, from
Shinar, from
Hamath, and from the islands of the sea.
And there shall be an
highway for the
remnant of his people, which shall be
left, from Assyria; like as it was to Israel in the day that he came up out of the land of Egypt.
There will be a
highway for the
remnant of His people who remain from Assyria, as there was for Israel when they came up from the land of Egypt.
But now the LORD hath spoken, saying, Within three years, as the years of an
hireling, and the glory of Moab shall be
contemned, with all that great multitude; and the
remnant shall be very small and feeble.
And now the LORD says, “In three years, as a
hired worker counts the years, Moab’s
splendor will become an object of contempt, with all her many people. And those who are
left will be few and feeble.”
The cities of Aroer are
forsaken: they shall be for flocks, which shall lie down, and none shall make them afraid.
The cities of Aroer are
forsaken; they will be
left to the flocks, which will lie down with no one to fear.
Yet
gleaning grapes shall be
left in it, as the
shaking of an olive tree, two or three
berries in the top of the
uppermost bough, four or five in the outmost fruitful branches thereof, saith the LORD God of Israel.
Yet gleanings will remain, like an olive tree that has been beaten— two or three
berries atop the tree, four or five on its fruitful branches,” declares the LORD, the God of Israel.
In that day shall his strong cities be as a
forsaken bough, and an
uppermost branch, which they
left because of the children of Israel: and there shall be
desolation.
In that day their strong cities will be like
forsaken thickets and summits, abandoned to the Israelites and to utter
desolation.
They shall be left together unto the fowls of the mountains, and to the beasts of the earth: and the fowls shall summer upon them, and all the beasts of the earth shall winter upon them.
They will all be left to the mountain birds of prey, and to the beasts of the land. The birds will feed on them in summer, and all the wild animals in winter.
The burden of Dumah. He calleth to me out of
Seir,
Watchman, what of the night?
Watchman, what of the night?
This is the burden against Dumah: One calls to me from
Seir, “
Watchman, what is
left of the night?
Watchman, what is
left of the night?”
Therefore hath the
curse devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein are
desolate: therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men
left.
Therefore a
curse has consumed the earth, and its inhabitants must bear the guilt; the earth’s dwellers have been burned, and only a few
survive.
The city is
left in ruins; its gate is reduced to
rubble.
Yet the defenced city shall be
desolate, and the
habitation forsaken, and
left like a wilderness: there shall the
calf feed, and there shall he lie down, and
consume the branches thereof.
For the fortified city lies deserted— a
homestead abandoned, a wilderness
forsaken. There the
calves graze, and there they lie down; they strip its branches bare.
One thousand shall
flee at the
rebuke of one; at the
rebuke of five shall ye
flee: till ye be
left as a
beacon upon the top of a mountain, and as an
ensign on an hill.
A thousand will
flee at the
threat of one; at the
threat of five you will all
flee, until you are
left alone like a pole on a mountaintop, like a
banner on a hill.
And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.
And whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear this command behind you: “This is the way. Walk in it.”
Because the palaces shall be
forsaken; the multitude of the city shall be
left; the forts and towers shall be for dens for ever, a joy of wild
asses, a pasture of flocks;
Their slain also shall be cast out, and their
stink shall come up out of their carcases, and the mountains shall be melted with their blood.
Their slain will be
left unburied, and the
stench of their corpses will rise; the mountains will flow with their blood.
They shall call the nobles thereof to the kingdom, but none shall be there, and all her princes shall be nothing.
No nobles will be
left to
proclaim a king, and all her princes will come to nothing.
It may be the LORD thy God will hear the words of
Rabshakeh, whom the king of Assyria his master hath sent to reproach the living God, and will reprove the words which the LORD thy God hath heard: wherefore lift up thy prayer for the
remnant that is
left.
Perhaps the LORD your God will hear the words of the
Rabshakeh, whom his master the king of Assyria has sent to
defy the living God, and He will
rebuke him for the words that the LORD your God has heard. Therefore lift up a prayer for the
remnant that still survives.”
When the
Rabshakeh heard that the king of Assyria had
left Lachish, he withdrew and found the king fighting against
Libnah.
Behold, the days come, that all that is in thine house, and that which thy fathers have laid up in store until this day, shall be carried to Babylon: nothing shall be left, saith the LORD.
The time will surely come when everything in your palace and all that your fathers have stored up until this day will be carried off to Babylon. Nothing will be left, says the LORD.
Then shalt thou say in thine heart, Who hath
begotten me these, seeing I have lost my children, and am
desolate, a
captive, and removing to and
fro? and who hath brought up these? Behold, I was
left alone; these, where had they been?
Then you will say in your heart, ‘Who has
begotten these for me? I was
bereaved and barren; I was exiled and rejected. So who has reared them? Look, I was
left all alone, so where did they come from?’”
For thou shalt break forth on the right hand and on the
left; and thy seed shall
inherit the Gentiles, and make the
desolate cities to be inhabited.
For you will spread out to the right and
left; your descendants will dispossess the nations and inhabit the
desolate cities.
The lion is come up from his
thicket, and the destroyer of the Gentiles is on his way; he is gone forth from his place to make thy land
desolate; and thy cities shall be laid waste, without an inhabitant.
A lion has gone up from his
thicket, and a destroyer of nations has set out. He has
left his
lair to lay waste your land. Your cities will be reduced to ruins and lie uninhabited.
I
beheld, and, lo, there was no man, and all the birds of the heavens were fled.
I looked, and no man was left; all the birds of the air had fled.
The whole city shall
flee for the noise of the
horsemen and
bowmen; they shall go into thickets, and
climb up upon the rocks: every city shall be
forsaken, and not a man dwell therein.
Every city flees at the sound of the
horseman and archer. They enter the thickets and
climb among the rocks. Every city is abandoned; no inhabitant is
left.
My tabernacle is
spoiled, and all my cords are broken: my children are gone forth of me, and they are not: there is none to stretch forth my tent any more, and to set up my curtains.
My tent is destroyed, and all its ropes are
snapped. My sons have departed from me and are no more. I have no one
left to pitch my tent or set up my curtains.
I have
forsaken mine house, I have
left mine
heritage; I have given the
dearly beloved of my soul into the hand of her enemies.
I have
forsaken My house; I have abandoned My inheritance. I have given the love of My life into the hands of her enemies.
And afterward, saith the LORD, I will deliver
Zedekiah king of Judah, and his servants, and the people, and such as are
left in this city from the
pestilence, from the sword, and from the famine, into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of those that seek their life: and he shall
smite them with the edge of the sword; he shall not
spare them, neither have
pity, nor have mercy.
‘After that,’ declares the LORD, ‘I will hand over
Zedekiah king of Judah, his officers, and the people in this city who
survive the plague and sword and famine, to
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and to their enemies who seek their lives. He will put them to the sword; he will not
spare them or show
pity or
compassion.’
He has
left His den like a lion, for their land has been made a
desolation by the sword of the
oppressor, and because of the fierce anger of the LORD.
But if they be prophets, and if the word of the LORD be with them, let them now make
intercession to the LORD of hosts, that the vessels which are
left in the house of the LORD, and in the house of the king of Judah, and at Jerusalem, go not to Babylon.
If they are indeed prophets and the word of the LORD is with them, let them now
plead with the LORD of Hosts that the articles remaining in the house of the LORD, in the palace of the king of Judah, and in Jerusalem, not be taken to Babylon.
Therefore thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will
punish Shemaiah the Nehelamite, and his seed: he shall not have a man to dwell among this people; neither shall he behold the good that I will do for my people, saith the LORD; because he hath taught rebellion against the LORD.
this is what the LORD says: ‘I will surely
punish Shemaiah the Nehelamite and his descendants. He will have no one
left among this people, nor will he see the good that I will bring to My people, declares the LORD, for he has preached rebellion against the LORD.’”
Thus saith the LORD, The people which were left of the sword found grace in the wilderness; even Israel, when I went to cause him to rest.
This is what the LORD says: “The people who survived the sword found favor in the wilderness when Israel went to find rest.”
When the king of Babylon’s army fought against Jerusalem, and against all the cities of Judah that were
left, against
Lachish, and against Azekah: for these defenced cities remained of the cities of Judah.
as the army of the king of Babylon was fighting against Jerusalem and the remaining cities of Judah—against
Lachish and Azekah. For these were the only fortified cities remaining in Judah.
Then Pharaoh’s army was come forth out of Egypt: and when the Chaldeans that besieged Jerusalem heard
tidings of them, they departed from Jerusalem.
Pharaoh’s army had
left Egypt, and when the Chaldeans who were
besieging Jerusalem heard the report, they withdrew from Jerusalem.
And, behold, all the women that are
left in the king of Judah’s house shall be brought forth to the king of Babylon’s princes, and those women shall say, Thy friends have set thee on, and have prevailed against thee: thy feet are sunk in the
mire, and they are turned away back.
All the women who remain in the palace of the king of Judah will be brought out to the officials of the king of Babylon, and those women will say: ‘They misled you and overcame you— those trusted friends of yours. Your feet
sank into the
mire, and they deserted you.’
Then came all the princes unto Jeremiah, and asked him: and he told them according to all these words that the king had commanded. So they left off speaking with him; for the matter was not perceived.
When all the officials came to Jeremiah and questioned him, he relayed to them the exact words the king had commanded him to say. So they said no more to him, for no one had overheard the conversation.
And it came to pass, that when
Zedekiah the king of Judah saw them, and all the men of war, then they fled, and went forth out of the city by night, by the way of the king’s garden, by the gate
betwixt the two walls: and he went out the way of the plain.
When
Zedekiah king of Judah and all the soldiers saw them, they fled. They
left the city at night by way of the king’s garden, through the gate between the two walls, and they went out along the route to the Arabah.
But Nebuzar-adan the captain of the guard left of the poor of the people, which had nothing, in the land of Judah, and gave them vineyards and fields at the same time.
But Nebuzaradan left behind in the land of Judah some of the poor people who had no property, and at that time he gave them vineyards and fields.
Then went Jeremiah unto Gedaliah the son of
Ahikam to
Mizpah; and dwelt with him among the people that were
left in the land.
So Jeremiah went to Gedaliah son of
Ahikam at
Mizpah and stayed with him among the people who were
left in the land.
Likewise when all the Jews that were in Moab, and among the
Ammonites, and in
Edom, and that were in all the countries, heard that the king of Babylon had
left a
remnant of Judah, and that he had set over them Gedaliah the son of
Ahikam the son of Shaphan;
When all the Jews in Moab,
Ammon,
Edom, and all the other lands heard that the king of Babylon had
left a
remnant in Judah and had appointed Gedaliah son of
Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, over them,
And said unto Jeremiah the prophet, Let, we
beseech thee, our
supplication be accepted before thee, and pray for us unto the LORD thy God, even for all this
remnant; (for we are
left but a few of many, as thine eyes do behold us:)
Jeremiah the prophet and said, “May our petition come before you; pray to the LORD your God on behalf of this entire
remnant. For few of us remain of the many, as you can see with your own eyes.
Even men, and women, and children, and the king’s daughters, and every person that Nebuzar-adan the captain of the guard had
left with Gedaliah the son of
Ahikam the son of Shaphan, and Jeremiah the prophet, and
Baruch the son of Neriah.
the men, the women, the children, the king’s daughters, and
everyone whom Nebuzaradan captain of the guard had allowed to remain with Gedaliah son of
Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, as well as Jeremiah the prophet and
Baruch son of Neriah.
But since we left off to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, we have wanted all things, and have been consumed by the sword and by the famine.
But from the time we stopped burning incense to the Queen of Heaven and pouring out drink offerings to her, we have lacked everything and have been perishing by sword and famine.”
How is the city of praise not left, the city of my joy!
How is the city of praise not
forsaken, the town that brings Me joy?
Come against her from the utmost border, open her storehouses: cast her up as heaps, and destroy her utterly: let nothing of her be left.
Come against her from the
farthest border. Break open her
granaries; pile her up like mounds of grain.
Devote her to destruction; leave her no survivors.
But Nebuzar-adan the captain of the guard
left certain of the poor of the land for vinedressers and for
husbandmen.
But Nebuzaradan captain of the guard left behind some of the poorest of the land to tend the vineyards and fields.
He hath turned aside my ways, and pulled me in pieces: he hath made me
desolate.
He forced me off my path and
tore me to pieces; He
left me without help.
The elders have ceased from the gate, the young men from their musick.
The elders have left the city gate; the young men have stopped their music.
The joy of our heart is ceased; our dance is turned into
mourning.
Joy has
left our hearts; our dancing has turned to
mourning.
As for the likeness of their faces, they four had the face of a man, and the face of a lion, on the right side: and they four had the face of an ox on the left side; they four also had the face of an eagle.
The form of their faces was that of a man, and each of the four had the face of a lion on the right side, the face of an ox on the left side, and also the face of an eagle.
Lie thou also upon thy left side, and lay the iniquity of the house of Israel upon it: according to the number of the days that thou shalt lie upon it thou shalt bear their iniquity.
Then lie down on your
left side and place the iniquity of the house of Israel upon
yourself. You are to bear their iniquity for the number of days you lie on your side.
And it came to pass, while they were
slaying them, and I was
left, that I fell upon my face, and
cried, and said,
Ah Lord GOD!
wilt thou destroy all the residue of Israel in thy pouring out of thy
fury upon Jerusalem?
While they were killing, I was
left alone. And I fell facedown and
cried out, “Oh, Lord GOD, when You pour out Your wrath on Jerusalem, will You destroy the entire
remnant of Israel?”
Yet, behold, therein shall be
left a
remnant that shall be brought forth, both sons and daughters: behold, they shall come forth unto you, and ye shall see their way and their doings: and ye shall be comforted concerning the evil that I have brought upon Jerusalem, even concerning all that I have brought upon it.
Yet, behold, some survivors will be
left in it—sons and daughters who will be brought out. They will come out to you, and when you see their conduct and actions, you will be comforted regarding the
disaster I have brought upon Jerusalem—all that I have brought upon it.
And thine elder sister is Samaria, she and her daughters that dwell at thy
left hand: and thy younger sister, that dwelleth at thy right hand, is
Sodom and her daughters.
Your older sister was Samaria, who lived with her daughters to your north; and your younger sister was
Sodom, who lived with her daughters to your south.
Go thee one way or other, either on the right hand, or on the
left,
whithersoever thy face is set.
Slash to the right; set your
blade to the
left— wherever your
blade is directed.
Neither
left she her whoredoms brought from Egypt: for in her youth they lay with her, and they
bruised the breasts of her
virginity, and poured their
whoredom upon her.
Speak unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will
profane my sanctuary, the
excellency of your strength, the desire of your eyes, and that which your soul pitieth; and your sons and your daughters whom ye have
left shall fall by the sword.
Tell the house of Israel that this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘I am about to
desecrate My sanctuary, the pride of your power, the desire of your eyes, and the delight of your soul. And the sons and daughters you
left behind will fall by the sword.’
And strangers, the terrible of the nations, have cut him off, and have left him: upon the mountains and in all the valleys his branches are fallen, and his boughs are broken by all the rivers of the land; and all the people of the earth are gone down from his shadow, and have left him.
Foreigners, the most
ruthless of the nations, cut it down and
left it. Its branches have fallen on the mountains and in every valley; its boughs lay broken in all the earth’s ravines. And all the peoples of the earth
left its shade and abandoned it.
Then the heathen that are
left round about you shall know that I the LORD build the ruined places, and plant that that was
desolate: I the LORD have spoken it, and I will do it.
Then the nations around you that remain will know that I, the LORD, have rebuilt what was destroyed, and I have replanted what was
desolate. I, the LORD, have spoken, and I will do it.
And I will
smite thy bow out of thy
left hand, and will cause thine arrows to fall out of thy right hand.
Then I will strike the bow from your
left hand and
dash down the arrows from your right hand.
Then shall they know that I am the LORD their God, which caused them to be led into captivity among the heathen: but I have gathered them unto their own land, and have left none of them any more there.
Then they will know that I am the LORD their God, when I regather them to their own land, not leaving any of them behind after their exile among the nations.
The thickness of the wall, which was for the side chamber without, was five cubits: and that which was left was the place of the side chambers that were within.
The outer wall of the side rooms was five cubits thick, and the open area between the side rooms of the temple
And the doors of the side chambers were toward the place that was left, one door toward the north, and another door toward the south: and the breadth of the place that was left was five cubits round about.
The side rooms opened into this area, with one entrance on the north and another on the south. The open area was five cubits wide all around.
When the priests enter therein, then shall they not go out of the holy place into the utter court, but there they shall lay their garments wherein they minister; for they are holy; and shall put on other garments, and shall approach to those things which are for the people.
Once the priests have entered the holy area, they must not go out into the outer court until they have left behind the garments in which they minister, for these are holy. They are to put on other clothes before they approach the places that are for the people.”
But the
miry places thereof and the marishes thereof shall not be
healed; they shall be given to salt.
But the swamps and marshes will not become fresh; they will be left for salt.
And the five thousand, that are
left in the breadth over against the five and twenty thousand, shall be a
profane place for the city, for dwelling, and for suburbs: and the city shall be in the midst thereof.
The remaining area, 5,000 cubits wide and 25,000 cubits long, will be for common use by the city, for houses, and for pastureland. The city will be in the center of it
And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be
left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and
consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.
In the days of those kings, the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed, nor will it be
left to another people. It will
shatter all these kingdoms and bring them to an end, but will itself stand
forever.
After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast,
dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth: it
devoured and
brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it: and it was
diverse from all the beasts that were before it; and it had ten horns.
After this, as I watched in my vision in the night, suddenly a fourth beast appeared, and it was
terrifying—
dreadful and extremely strong—with large iron teeth. It
devoured and
crushed; then it
trampled underfoot whatever was
left. It was different from all the beasts before it, and it had ten horns.
Then I would know the truth of the fourth beast, which was
diverse from all the others, exceeding
dreadful, whose teeth were of iron, and his
nails of brass; which
devoured,
brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with his feet;
Then I wanted to know the true meaning of the fourth beast, which was different from all the others—extremely
terrifying—
devouring and
crushing with iron teeth and bronze claws, then
trampling underfoot whatever was
left.
Therefore I was
left alone, and saw this great vision, and there remained no strength in me: for my
comeliness was turned in me into corruption, and I retained no strength.
So I was
left alone,
gazing at this great vision. No strength remained in me; my face grew deathly pale, and I was powerless.
But the prince of the kingdom of Persia
withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia.
However, the prince of the kingdom of Persia opposed me for twenty-one days. Then Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I had been left there with the kings of Persia.
For how can the servant of this my lord talk with this my lord? for as for me,
straightway there remained no strength in me, neither is there breath
left in me.
How can I, your servant, speak with you, my lord? Now I have no strength, nor is any breath left in me.”
And I heard the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his
left hand unto heaven, and
sware by him that liveth for ever that it shall be for a time, times, and an half; and when he shall have accomplished to
scatter the power of the holy people, all these things shall be finished.
And the man dressed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, raised his right hand and his
left hand toward heaven, and I heard him
swear by Him who lives
forever, saying, “It will be for a time, and times, and half a time. When the power of the holy people has finally been
shattered, all these things will be completed.”
For they shall eat, and not have enough: they shall commit
whoredom, and shall not increase: because they have
left off to take
heed to the LORD.
They will eat but not be satisfied; they will be
promiscuous but not multiply. For they have stopped obeying the LORD.
Though they bring up their children, yet will I
bereave them, that there shall not be a man
left:
yea,
woe also to them when I depart from them!
Even if they raise their children, I will
bereave them of each one.
Yes,
woe be to them when I turn away from them!
For thus saith the Lord GOD; The city that went out by a thousand shall leave an hundred, and that which went forth by an hundred shall leave ten, to the house of Israel.
This is what the Lord GOD says: “The city that marches out a thousand strong will only see a hundred return, and the one that marches out a hundred strong will have but ten left in the house of Israel.”
And it shall come to pass, if there remain ten men in one house, that they shall die.
And if there are ten men left in one house, they too will die.
So
Jonah went out of the city, and sat on the east side of the city, and there made him a
booth, and sat under it in the shadow, till he might see what would become of the city.
Then
Jonah left the city and sat down east of it, where he made himself a shelter and sat in its shade to see what would happen to the city.
And should not I
spare Nineveh, that great city, wherein are more than
sixscore thousand persons that cannot
discern between their right hand and their
left hand; and also much cattle?
So should I not care about the great city of
Nineveh, which has more than 120,000 people who cannot tell their right hand from their
left, and many cattle as well?”
For
Gaza will be abandoned, and Ashkelon
left in ruins.
Ashdod will be driven out at
noon, and
Ekron will be uprooted.
Woe unto the inhabitants of the sea coast, the nation of the Cherethites! the word of the LORD is against you; O
Canaan, the land of the Philistines, I will even destroy thee, that there shall be no inhabitant.
Woe to the dwellers of the
seacoast, O nation of the Cherethites! The word of the LORD is against you, O
Canaan, land of the Philistines: “I will destroy you, and no one will be
left.”
Who is left among you that saw this house in her first glory? and how do ye see it now? is it not in your eyes in comparison of it as nothing?
‘Who is left among you who saw this house in its former glory? How does it look to you now? Does it not appear to you like nothing in comparison?’
And two olive trees by it, one upon the right side of the
bowl, and the other upon the
left side thereof.
There are also two olive trees beside it, one on the right side of the
bowl and the other on its
left.”
Then answered I, and said unto him, What are these two olive trees upon the right side of the
candlestick and upon the
left side thereof?
Then I asked the angel, “What are the two olive trees on the right and left of the lampstand?”
But I scattered them with a
whirlwind among all the nations whom they knew not. Thus the land was
desolate after them, that no man passed through nor returned: for they laid the pleasant land
desolate.
But I scattered them with a
whirlwind among all the nations that they had not known, and the land was
left desolate behind them so that no one could come or go. Thus they turned the pleasant land into a
desolation.”
In that day will I make the governors of Judah like an
hearth of fire among the wood, and like a
torch of fire in a
sheaf; and they shall
devour all the people round about, on the right hand and on the
left: and Jerusalem shall be inhabited again in her own place, even in Jerusalem.
On that day I will make the clans of Judah like a
firepot in a woodpile, like a flaming
