Berean Standard Bible BSB Bible
Ponder the path of thy feet, and
let all thy ways be established.
Make a level path for your feet, and all your ways will be sure.
Let thy fountains be
dispersed abroad, and rivers of waters in the streets.
Why should your springs flow in the streets, your streams of water in the public squares?
Let them be only thine own, and not strangers’ with thee.
Let them be yours alone, never to be shared with strangers.
Let thy fountain be blessed: and
rejoice with the wife of thy youth.
May your fountain be blessed, and may you
rejoice in the wife of your youth:
Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant
roe;
let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou
ravished always with her love.
Lust not after her beauty in thine heart; neither
let her take thee with her eyelids.
Do not
lust in your heart for her beauty or
let her
captivate you with her eyes.
Come,
let us take our fill of love until the morning:
let us
solace ourselves with loves.
Come, let us take our fill of love till morning. Let us delight in loving caresses!
Let not thine heart decline to her ways, go not
astray in her paths.
Do not
let your heart turn aside to her ways; do not
stray into her paths.
Whoso is simple,
let him turn in
hither: as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him,
“
Whoever is simple,
let him turn in here!” she says to him who lacks judgment.
Whoso is simple,
let him turn in
hither: and as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him,
“
Whoever is simple,
let him turn in here!” she says to him who lacks judgment.
The LORD will not suffer the soul of the righteous to
famish: but he casteth away the substance of the wicked.
The LORD does not
let the righteous go
hungry, but He denies the
craving of the wicked.
Let a bear
robbed of her whelps meet a man, rather than a
fool in his folly.
It is better to meet a bear
robbed of her cubs than a
fool in his folly.
The beginning of
strife is as when one
letteth out water: therefore leave off
contention, before it be
meddled with.
To start a quarrel is to release a flood; so
abandon the dispute before it breaks out.
Chasten thy son while there is hope, and
let not thy soul
spare for his crying.
Discipline your son, for in that there is hope; do not be party to his death.
Let not thine heart
envy sinners: but be thou in the fear of the LORD all the day long.
Do not
let your heart
envy sinners, but always continue in the fear of the LORD.
My son, give me thine heart, and let thine eyes observe my ways.
My son, give me your heart, and let your eyes delight in my ways.
Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, and
let not thine heart be
glad when he stumbleth:
Do not
gloat when your enemy falls, and do not
let your heart
rejoice when he stumbles,
Let another man praise thee, and not thine own mouth; a stranger, and not thine own lips.
Let another praise you, and not your own mouth— a stranger, and not your own lips.
A man that doeth violence to the blood of any person shall
flee to the pit;
let no man stay him.
A man burdened by bloodguilt will
flee into the Pit;
let no one support him.
Let him drink, and
forget his poverty, and remember his misery no more.
Let him drink and
forget his poverty, and remember his misery no more.
Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.
Give her the fruit of her hands, and let her works praise her at the gates.
Be not
rash with thy mouth, and
let not thine heart be
hasty to utter any thing before God: for God is in heaven, and thou upon earth: therefore
let thy words be few.
Do not be quick to speak, and do not be
hasty in your heart to utter a word before God. After all, God is in heaven and you are on earth. So
let your words be few.
Suffer not thy mouth to cause thy flesh to sin; neither say thou before the angel, that it was an error: wherefore should God be
angry at thy voice, and destroy the work of thine hands?
Do not
let your mouth cause your flesh to sin, and do not tell the
messenger that your
vow was a mistake. Why should God be
angry with your words and destroy the work of your hands?
It is good that thou shouldest take hold of this;
yea, also from this withdraw not thine hand: for he that feareth God shall come forth of them all.
It is good to
grasp the one and not
let the other slip from your hand. For he who fears God will follow both warnings.
Let thy garments be always white; and
let thy head lack no
ointment.
Let your garments always be white, and never
spare the oil for your head.
But if a man live many years, and
rejoice in them all; yet
let him remember the days of darkness; for they shall be many. All that cometh is vanity.
So if a man lives many years,
let him
rejoice in them all. But
let him remember the days of darkness, for they will be many. Everything to come is
futile.
Rejoice, O young man, in thy youth; and
let thy heart
cheer thee in the days of thy youth, and walk in the ways of thine heart, and in the sight of thine eyes: but know thou, that for all these things God will bring thee into judgment.
Rejoice, O young man, while you are young, and
let your heart be
glad in the days of your youth. Walk in the ways of your heart and in the sight of your eyes, but know that for all these things God will bring you to judgment.
Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
When all has been heard, the conclusion of the matter is this: Fear God and keep His commandments, because this is the whole duty of man.
Let him
kiss me with the kisses of his mouth: for thy love is better than wine.
Let him
kiss me with the kisses of his mouth! For your love is more delightful than wine.
Draw me, we will run after thee: the king hath brought me into his chambers: we will be
glad and
rejoice in thee, we will remember thy love more than wine: the upright love thee.
Take me away with you—
let us
hurry! May the king bring me to his chambers. We will
rejoice and delight in you; we will praise your love more than wine. It is only right that they
adore you.
O my
dove, that art in the clefts of the rock, in the secret places of the stairs,
let me see thy countenance,
let me hear thy voice; for sweet is thy voice, and thy countenance is comely.
O my
dove in the clefts of the rock, in the crevices of the
cliff,
let me see your face,
let me hear your voice; for your voice is sweet, and your countenance is lovely.
It was but a little that I passed from them, but I found him whom my soul loveth: I held him, and would not let him go, until I had brought him into my mother’s house, and into the chamber of her that conceived me.
I had just passed them when I found the one I love. I held him and would not let go until I had brought him to my mother’s house, to the chamber of the one who conceived me.
Awake, O north wind; and come, thou south; blow upon my garden, that the spices thereof may flow out.
Let my beloved come into his garden, and eat his pleasant fruits.
Awake, O north wind, and come, O south wind.
Breathe on my garden and spread the
fragrance of its spices.
Let my beloved come into his garden and taste its choicest fruits.
Come, my beloved,
let us go forth into the field;
let us
lodge in the villages.
Come, my beloved,
let us go to the
countryside;
let us
spend the night among the wildflowers.
Let us get up early to the vineyards;
let us see if the vine
flourish, whether the tender
grape appear, and the pomegranates
bud forth: there will I give thee my loves.
Let us go early to the vineyards to see if the vine has
budded, if the
blossom has opened, if the pomegranates are in
bloom— there I will give you my love.
Solomon had a
vineyard at
Baal-
hamon; he
let out the
vineyard unto keepers; every one for the fruit thereof was to bring a thousand pieces of silver.
Solomon had a
vineyard in
Baal-
hamon. He
leased it to the tenants. For its fruit, each was to bring a thousand shekels of silver.
Thou that dwellest in the gardens, the companions
hearken to thy voice: cause me to hear it.
You who dwell in the gardens, my companions are
listening for your voice.
Let me hear it!
Come now, and
let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like
crimson, they shall be as wool.
“Come now,
let us reason together,” says the LORD. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they will be as white as snow; though they are as red as
crimson, they will become like wool.
And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and
let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of
Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.
And many peoples will come and say: “Come,
let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob. He will teach us His ways so that we may walk in His paths.” For the law will go forth from
Zion, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.
O house of Jacob, come ye, and let us walk in the light of the LORD.
Come, O house of Jacob, let us walk in the light of the LORD.
When a man shall take hold of his brother of the house of his father, saying, Thou hast clothing, be thou our ruler, and let this ruin be under thy hand:
A man will seize his brother within his father’s house: “You have a
cloak—you be our leader! Take charge of this
heap of
rubble.”
And in that day seven women shall take hold of one man, saying, We will eat our own bread, and wear our own
apparel: only
let us be called by thy name, to take away our reproach.
In that day seven women will take hold of one man and say, “We will eat our own bread and provide our own clothes. Just let us be called by your name. Take away our disgrace!”
That say,
Let him make speed, and
hasten his work, that we may see it: and
let the counsel of the Holy One of Israel draw
nigh and come, that we may know it!
to those who say, “
Let Him
hurry and
hasten His work so that we may see it!
Let the plan of the Holy One of Israel come so that we may know it!”
Let us go up against Judah, and
vex it, and
let us make a breach therein for us, and set a king in the midst of it, even the son of Tabeal:
‘
Let us
invade Judah,
terrorize it, and divide it among ourselves. Then we can
install the son of Tabeal over it as king.’
Sanctify the LORD of hosts himself; and
let him be your fear, and
let him be your
dread.
The LORD of Hosts is the One you shall regard as holy. Only He should be feared; only He should be
dreaded.
Sing unto the LORD; for he hath done excellent things: this is known in all the earth.
Sing to the LORD, for He has done glorious things. Let this be known in all the earth.
That made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof; that opened not the house of his prisoners?
who turned the world into a desert and destroyed its cities, who refused to
let the
captives return to their homes?”
Let mine outcasts dwell with thee, Moab; be thou a
covert to them from the face of the
spoiler: for the
extortioner is at an end, the
spoiler ceaseth, the oppressors are consumed out of the land.
Let my fugitives stay with you; be a refuge for Moab from the destroyer.” When the
oppressor has gone, destruction has ceased, and the oppressors have
vanished from the land,
Therefore shall Moab
howl for Moab, every one shall
howl: for the foundations of Kir-hareseth shall ye
mourn; surely they are
stricken.
Therefore
let Moab
wail;
let them
wail together for Moab.
Moan for the
raisin cakes of Kir-hareseth, you who are utterly
stricken.
Where are they? where are thy wise men? and let them tell thee now, and let them know what the LORD of hosts hath purposed upon Egypt.
Where are your wise men now?
Let them tell you and
reveal what the LORD of Hosts has
planned against Egypt.
For thus hath the Lord said unto me, Go, set a
watchman,
let him declare what he
seeth.
For this is what the Lord says to me: “Go, post a
lookout and have him report what he sees.
Therefore said I, Look away from me; I will
weep bitterly, labour not to comfort me, because of the
spoiling of the daughter of my people.
Therefore I said, “Turn away from me,
let me
weep bitterly! Do not try to
console me over the destruction of the daughter of my people.”
And behold joy and
gladness,
slaying oxen, and killing sheep, eating flesh, and drinking wine:
let us eat and drink; for to
morrow we shall die.
But look, there is joy and
gladness,
butchering of cattle and slaughtering of sheep, eating of meat and drinking of wine: “
Let us eat and drink, for
tomorrow we die!”
And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this is the LORD; we have waited for him, we will be
glad and
rejoice in his salvation.
And in that day it will be said, “Surely this is our God; we have waited for Him, and He has saved us. This is the LORD for whom we have waited.
Let us
rejoice and be
glad in His salvation.”
Let favour be shewed to the wicked, yet will he not learn righteousness: in the land of uprightness will he deal unjustly, and will not behold the majesty of the LORD.
Though grace is shown to the wicked man, he does not learn righteousness. In the land of righteousness he acts unjustly and fails to see the majesty of the LORD.
Or let him take hold of my strength, that he may make peace with me; and he shall make peace with me.
Or
let them lay claim to My protection;
let them make peace with Me—
yes,
let them make peace with Me.”
To whom he said, This is the rest
wherewith ye may cause the
weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.
to whom He has said: “This is the place of rest,
let the
weary rest; this is the place of
repose.” But they would not
listen.
Woe to
Ariel, to
Ariel, the city where David dwelt! add ye year to year;
let them kill sacrifices.
Woe to you, O
Ariel, the city of
Ariel where David camped! Year upon year
let your festivals
recur.
Blessed are ye that
sow beside all waters, that send forth thither the feet of the ox and the
ass.
Blessed are those who
sow beside abundant waters, who
let the ox and
donkey range freely.
Come near, ye nations, to hear; and
hearken, ye people:
let the earth hear, and all that is therein; the world, and all things that come forth of it.
Come near, O nations, to
listen; pay attention, O peoples.
Let the earth hear, and all that fills it, the world and all that springs from it.
Thus saith the king,
Let not
Hezekiah deceive you: for he shall not be able to deliver you.
This is what the king says: Do not
let Hezekiah deceive you, for he cannot deliver you.
Neither
let Hezekiah make you trust in the LORD, saying, The LORD will surely deliver us: this city shall not be delivered into the hand of the king of Assyria.
Do not
let Hezekiah persuade you to trust in the LORD when he says, ‘The LORD will surely deliver us; this city will not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.’
Beware lest
Hezekiah persuade you, saying, The LORD will deliver us. Hath any of the gods of the nations delivered his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria?
Do not
let Hezekiah mislead you when he says, ‘The LORD will deliver us.’ Has the god of any nation ever delivered his land from the hand of the king of Assyria?
Thus shall ye speak to
Hezekiah king of Judah, saying,
Let not thy God, in whom thou trustest,
deceive thee, saying, Jerusalem shall not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.
“Give this message to
Hezekiah king of Judah: ‘Do not
let your God, in whom you trust,
deceive you by saying that Jerusalem will not be delivered into the hand of the king of Assyria.
And
Hezekiah received the
letter from the hand of the messengers, and read it: and
Hezekiah went up unto the house of the LORD, and spread it before the LORD.
So
Hezekiah received the
letter from the messengers, read it, and went up to the house of the LORD and spread it out before the LORD.
O Lord, by these things men live, and in all these things is the life of my spirit: so
wilt thou recover me, and make me to live.
O Lord, by such things men live, and in all of them my spirit finds life. You have restored me to health and have let me live.
For Isaiah had said,
Let them take a
lump of figs, and lay it for a
plaister upon the
boil, and he shall recover.
Now Isaiah had said, “Prepare a
lump of pressed figs and apply it to the
boil, and he will recover.”
At that time Merodach-baladan, the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent
letters and a present to
Hezekiah: for he had heard that he had been sick, and was recovered.
At that time Merodach-baladan son of Baladan king of Babylon sent
letters and a gift to
Hezekiah, for he had heard about
Hezekiah’s illness and recovery.
Keep silence before me, O islands; and let the people renew their strength: let them come near; then let them speak: let us come near together to judgment.
“Be silent before Me, O islands, and
let the peoples renew their strength.
Let them come forward and
testify;
let us together draw near for judgment.
Let them bring them forth, and
shew us what shall happen:
let them
shew the former things, what they be, that we may consider them, and know the latter end of them; or declare us things for to come.
“
Let them come and tell us what will happen. Tell the former things, so that we may
reflect on them and know the outcome. Or
announce to us what is coming.
Let the wilderness and the cities thereof lift up their voice, the villages that
Kedar doth inhabit:
let the inhabitants of the rock sing,
let them
shout from the top of the mountains.
Let the desert and its cities raise their voices;
let the villages of
Kedar cry
aloud.
Let the people of Sela sing for joy;
let them cry out from the mountaintops.
Let them give glory unto the LORD, and declare his praise in the islands.
Let them give glory to the LORD and declare His praise in the islands.
Let all the nations be gathered together, and
let the people be assembled: who among them can declare this, and
shew us former things?
let them bring forth their witnesses, that they may be justified: or
let them hear, and say, It is truth.
All the nations gather together and the peoples
assemble. Who among them can declare this, and
proclaim to us the former things?
Let them present their witnesses to
vindicate them, so that others may hear and say, “It is true.”
Yea, before the day was I am he; and there is none that can deliver out of my hand: I will work, and who shall
let it?
Even from
eternity I am He, and none can deliver out of My hand. When I act, who can reverse it?”
Put me in
remembrance:
let us
plead together: declare thou, that thou mayest be justified.
Remind Me,
let us
argue the matter together. State your case, so that you may be
vindicated.
And who, as I, shall call, and shall declare it, and set it in order for me, since I appointed the ancient people? and the things that are coming, and shall come,
let them
shew unto them.
Who then is like Me?
Let him say so!
Let him declare his case before Me, since I established an ancient people.
Let him
foretell the things to come, and what is to take place.
Behold, all his fellows shall be
ashamed: and the workmen, they are of men:
let them all be gathered together,
let them stand up; yet they shall fear, and they shall be
ashamed together.
Behold, all his companions will be put to shame, for the
craftsmen themselves are only human.
Let them all
assemble and take their stand; they will all be brought to terror and shame.
He heweth him down cedars, and taketh the
cypress and the oak, which he strengtheneth for himself among the trees of the forest: he planteth an ash, and the rain
doth nourish it.
He cuts down cedars or retrieves a
cypress or oak. He
lets it grow strong among the trees of the forest. He plants a
laurel, and the rain makes it grow.
That saith of Cyrus, He is my
shepherd, and shall perform all my pleasure: even saying to Jerusalem, Thou shalt be built; and to the temple, Thy foundation shall be laid.
who says of Cyrus, ‘My
shepherd will
fulfill all that I desire,’ who says of Jerusalem, ‘She will be rebuilt,’ and of the temple, ‘
Let its foundation be laid.’”
Drop down, ye heavens, from above, and
let the
skies pour down righteousness:
let the earth open, and
let them bring forth salvation, and
let righteousness spring up together; I the LORD have created it.
Drip down, O heavens, from above, and
let the
skies pour down righteousness.
Let the earth open up that salvation may
sprout and righteousness spring up with it; I, the LORD, have created it.
Woe unto him that striveth with his Maker!
Let the
potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth. Shall the clay say to him that fashioneth it, What makest thou? or thy work, He hath no hands?
Woe to him who quarrels with his Maker— one clay pot among many. Does the clay ask the
potter, ‘What are you making?’ Does your work say, ‘He has no hands’?
I have raised him up in righteousness, and I will direct all his ways: he shall build my city, and he shall
let go my
captives, not for price nor reward, saith the LORD of hosts.
I will raise up Cyrus in righteousness, and I will make all his ways straight. He will rebuild My city and set My exiles free, but not for payment or reward, says the LORD of Hosts.”
Tell ye, and bring them near;
yea,
let them take counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient time? who hath told it from that time? have not I the LORD? and there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me.
Speak up and present your case—
yes,
let them take counsel together. Who
foretold this long ago? Who
announced it from ancient times? Was it not I, the LORD? There is no other God but Me, a righteous God and
Savior; there is none but Me.
Thou art
wearied in the multitude of thy counsels.
Let now the astrologers, the stargazers, the monthly prognosticators, stand up, and save thee from these things that shall come upon thee.
You are
wearied by your many counselors;
let them come forward now and save you— your astrologers who observe the stars, who monthly
predict your fate.
For mine own sake, even for mine own sake, will I do it: for how should my name be
polluted? and I will not give my glory unto another.
For My own sake, My very own sake, I will act; for how can I
let Myself be
defamed? I will not yield My glory to another.
Go ye forth of Babylon,
flee ye from the Chaldeans, with a voice of singing declare ye, tell this, utter it even to the end of the earth; say ye, The LORD hath redeemed his servant Jacob.
Leave Babylon!
Flee from the Chaldeans! Declare it with a
shout of joy,
proclaim it,
let it go out to the ends of the earth, saying, “The LORD has redeemed His servant Jacob!”
He is near that justifieth me; who will
contend with me?
let us stand together: who is mine
adversary?
let him come near to me.
The One who vindicates Me is near. Who will
dare to
contend with Me?
Let us
confront each other! Who has a case against Me?
Let him approach Me!
Who is among you that feareth the LORD, that obeyeth the voice of his servant, that walketh in darkness, and hath no light? let him trust in the name of the LORD, and stay upon his God.
Who among you fears the LORD and obeys the voice of His Servant? Who among you walks in darkness and has no light?
Let him trust in the name of the LORD;
let him
lean on his God.
Enlarge the place of thy tent, and
let them stretch forth the curtains of thine habitations:
spare not,
lengthen thy cords, and
strengthen thy stakes;
“
Enlarge the site of your tent, stretch out the curtains of your dwellings, do not hold back.
Lengthen your ropes and drive your stakes in deep.
Wherefore do ye
spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not?
hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and
let your soul delight itself in fatness.
Why
spend money on that which is not bread, and your labor on that which does not satisfy?
Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, and your soul will delight in the richest of foods.
Let the wicked
forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and
let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly
pardon.
Let the wicked man
forsake his own way and the unrighteous man his own thoughts;
let him return to the LORD, that He may have
compassion, and to our God, for He will freely
pardon.
Neither
let the son of the stranger, that hath joined himself to the LORD, speak, saying, The LORD hath utterly separated me from his people: neither
let the
eunuch say, Behold, I am a dry tree.
Let no foreigner who has joined himself to the LORD say, “The LORD will utterly
exclude me from His people.” And
let the
eunuch not say, “I am but a dry tree.”
Come ye, say they, I will
fetch wine, and we will fill ourselves with strong drink; and to
morrow shall be as this day, and much more abundant.
“Come,
let me get the wine,
let us
imbibe the strong drink, and
tomorrow will be like
today, only far better!”
When thou criest,
let thy companies deliver thee; but the wind shall carry them all away; vanity shall take them: but he that putteth his trust in me shall possess the land, and shall
inherit my holy mountain;
When you cry out,
let your companies of idols deliver you! Yet the wind will carry off all of them, a breath will take them away. But he who seeks refuge in Me will
inherit the land and possess My holy mountain.”
Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to
undo the heavy burdens, and to
let the
oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?
Isn’t this the fast that I have chosen: to break the chains of wickedness, to
untie the cords of the yoke, to set the
oppressed free and
tear off every yoke?
Hear the word of the LORD, ye that
tremble at his word; your brethren that
hated you, that cast you out for my name’s sake, said,
Let the LORD be
glorified: but he shall appear to your joy, and they shall be
ashamed.
You who
tremble at His word, hear the word of the LORD: “Your brothers who
hate you and
exclude you because of My name have said, ‘
Let the LORD be
glorified that we may see your joy!’ But they will be put to shame.”
But where are thy gods that thou hast made thee? let them arise, if they can save thee in the time of thy trouble: for according to the number of thy cities are thy gods, O Judah.
But where are the gods you made for
yourselves?
Let them rise up in your time of trouble and save you if they can; for your gods are as numerous as your cities, O Judah.
We lie down in our shame, and our confusion covereth us: for we have
sinned against the LORD our God, we and our fathers, from our youth even unto this day, and have not obeyed the voice of the LORD our God.
Let us lie down in our shame;
let our disgrace cover us. We have
sinned against the LORD our God, both we and our fathers; from our youth even to this day we have not obeyed the voice of the LORD our God.”
Declare ye in Judah, and
publish in Jerusalem; and say, Blow ye the
trumpet in the land: cry, gather together, and say,
Assemble yourselves, and
let us go into the defenced cities.
And the prophets shall become wind, and the word is not in them: thus shall it be done unto them.
The prophets are but wind, for the word is not in them. So
let their own predictions
befall them.”
