A window shalt thou make to the ark, and in a
cubit shalt thou finish it above; and the door of the ark shalt thou set in the side thereof; with
lower, second, and third stories shalt thou make it.
You are to make a roof for the ark, finish its walls a
cubit from the top, place a door in the side of the ark, and build
lower, middle, and upper decks.
And she said, Drink, my lord: and she hasted, and let down her pitcher upon her hand, and gave him drink.
“Drink, my lord,” she replied, and she quickly
lowered her
jar to her hands and gave him a drink.
And she made
haste, and let down her pitcher from her shoulder, and said, Drink, and I will give thy camels drink also: so I
drank, and she made the camels drink also.
She quickly
lowered her
jar from her shoulder and said, ‘Drink, and I will water your camels as well.’ So I
drank, and she also watered the camels.
Then they speedily took down every man his
sack to the ground, and opened every man his
sack.
So each one quickly
lowered his
sack to the ground and opened it.
And it came to pass, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed: and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed.
As long as Moses held up his hands, Israel prevailed; but when he lowered them, Amalek prevailed.
And beneath upon the
hem of it thou shalt make pomegranates of blue, and of purple, and of scarlet, round about the
hem thereof; and bells of gold between them round about:
Make pomegranates of blue, purple, and scarlet yarn all the way around the
lower hem, with gold bells between them,
alternating the gold bells and pomegranates around the
lower hem of the
robe.
And they made upon the
hems of the
robe pomegranates of blue, and purple, and scarlet, and
twined linen.
They made pomegranates of blue, purple, and scarlet yarn and finely
spun linen on the
lower hem of the
robe.
alternating the bells and pomegranates around the
lower hem of the
robe to be worn for ministry, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.
And if, when the priest
seeth it, behold, it be in sight
lower than the skin, and the hair thereof be turned white; the priest shall
pronounce him unclean: it is a plague of
leprosy broken out of the
boil.
The priest shall examine it, and if it appears to be beneath the skin and the hair in it has turned white, the priest shall
pronounce him unclean; it is a diseased
infection that has broken out in the
boil.
But if the priest look on it, and, behold, there be no white hairs therein, and if it be not lower than the skin, but be somewhat dark; then the priest shall shut him up seven days:
But when the priest examines it, if there is no white hair in it, and it is not beneath the skin and has
faded, the priest shall
isolate him for seven days.
But if the priest look on it, and, behold, there be no white hair in the bright spot, and it be no lower than the other skin, but be somewhat dark; then the priest shall shut him up seven days:
But if the priest examines it and there is no white hair in the spot, and it is not beneath the skin but has
faded, the priest shall
isolate him for seven days.
And he shall look on the plague, and, behold, if the plague be in the walls of the house with hollow strakes,
greenish or reddish, which in sight are
lower than the wall;
He is to examine the house, and if the
mildew on the walls consists of green or red depressions that appear to be beneath the surface of the wall,
The stranger that is within thee shall get up above thee very high; and thou shalt come down very low.
The foreigner living among you will rise higher and higher above you, while you sink down lower and lower.
For a fire is
kindled in mine anger, and shall burn unto the
lowest hell, and shall
consume the earth with her increase, and set on fire the foundations of the mountains.
For a fire has been
kindled by My anger, and it burns to the depths of
Sheol; it consumes the earth and its produce, and scorches the foundations of the mountains.
Who answered, Give me a blessing; for thou hast given me a south land; give me also springs of water. And he gave her the upper springs, and the
nether springs.
“Give me a blessing,” she answered. “Since you have given me land in the Negev, give me springs of water as well.” So
Caleb gave her both the upper and
lower springs.
And goeth down westward to the coast of Japhleti, unto the coast of Beth-horon the
nether, and to
Gezer: and the goings out thereof are at the sea.
Then it descended westward to the border of the Japhletites as far as the border of
Lower Beth-horon and on to
Gezer, and it ended at the Sea.
And the border went over from thence toward
Luz, to the side of
Luz, which is
Bethel, southward; and the border descended to Ataroth-
adar, near the hill that lieth on the south side of the
nether Beth-horon.
From there the border crossed over to the southern slope of
Luz (that is,
Bethel) and went down to Ataroth-addar on the hill south of
Lower Beth-horon.
And she said unto him, Give me a blessing: for thou hast given me a south land; give me also springs of water. And
Caleb gave her the upper springs and the
nether springs.
“Give me a blessing,” she answered. “Since you have given me land in the Negev, give me springs of water as well.” So
Caleb gave her both the upper and
lower springs.
So Michal let David down through a window: and he went, and fled, and escaped.
So Michal lowered David from the window, and he ran away and escaped.
So Solomon rebuilt
Gezer,
Lower Beth-horon,
And he made an house of high places, and made priests of the lowest of the people, which were not of the sons of Levi.
Jeroboam also built shrines on the high places and appointed from every class of people priests who were not Levites.
After this thing
Jeroboam returned not from his evil way, but made again of the
lowest of the people priests of the high places:
whosoever would, he consecrated him, and he became one of the priests of the high places.
Even after these events,
Jeroboam did not
repent of his evil ways, but again he appointed priests for the high places from every class of people. He ordained
anyone who desired to be a priest of the high places.
So they feared the LORD, and made unto themselves of the lowest of them priests of the high places, which sacrificed for them in the houses of the high places.
So the new residents worshiped the LORD, but they also appointed for themselves priests of all sorts to serve in the shrines of the high places.
(And his daughter was Sherah, who built Beth-horon the
nether, and the upper, and Uzzen-sherah.)
His daughter was Sheerah, who built Lower and Upper Beth-horon, as well as Uzzen-sheerah.
Also he built Beth-horon the upper, and Beth-horon the
nether,
fenced cities, with walls, gates, and bars;
He rebuilt Upper and Lower Beth-horon as fortified cities with walls, gates, and bars,
Therefore set I in the lower places behind the wall, and on the higher places, I even set the people after their families with their swords, their spears, and their bows.
So I stationed men behind the
lowest sections of the wall, at the
vulnerable areas. I stationed them by families with their swords, spears, and bows.
His chest is as hard as a rock, as hard as a
lower millstone!
For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.
You made him a little lower than the angels; You crowned him with glory and honor.
But those that seek my soul, to destroy it, shall go into the lower parts of the earth.
But those who seek my life to destroy it will go into the depths of the earth.
For great is thy mercy toward me: and thou hast delivered my soul from the
lowest hell.
For great is Your loving devotion to me; You have delivered me from the depths of
Sheol.
Thou hast laid me in the lowest pit, in darkness, in the deeps.
You have laid me in the lowest Pit, in the darkest of the depths.
My substance was not
hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the
lowest parts of the earth.
My frame was not hidden from You when I was made in secret, when I was
woven together in the depths of the earth.
For better it is that it be said unto thee, Come up
hither; than that thou shouldest be put
lower in the presence of the prince whom thine eyes have seen.
for it is better that he says to you, “Come up here!” than that you should be demoted in the presence of the prince. Even what you have seen with your own eyes,
And the mean man shall be brought down, and the mighty man shall be humbled, and the eyes of the lofty shall be humbled:
So mankind will be brought low, and each man humbled; the
arrogant will
lower their eyes.
Yet thou shalt be brought down to
hell, to the sides of the pit.
But you will be brought down to
Sheol, to the
lowest depths of the Pit.
Ye have seen also the breaches of the city of David, that they are many: and ye gathered together the waters of the
lower pool.
You saw that there were many breaches in the walls of the City of David. You collected water from the
lower pool.
Sing, O ye heavens; for the LORD hath done it:
shout, ye
lower parts of the earth: break forth into singing, ye mountains, O forest, and every tree therein: for the LORD hath redeemed Jacob, and
glorified himself in Israel.
Sing for joy, O heavens, for the LORD has done this;
shout aloud, O depths of the earth. Break forth in song, O mountains, you forests and all your trees. For the LORD has redeemed Jacob, and revealed His glory in Israel.
Then took they Jeremiah, and cast him into the
dungeon of Malchiah the son of Hammelech, that was in the court of the prison: and they let down Jeremiah with cords. And in the
dungeon there was no water, but
mire: so Jeremiah sunk in the
mire.
So they took Jeremiah and dropped him into the
cistern of Malchiah, the king’s son, which was in the
courtyard of the guard. They
lowered Jeremiah with ropes into the
cistern, which had no water but only mud, and Jeremiah
sank down into the mud.
So Ebed-melech took the men with him, and went into the house of the king under the treasury, and took thence old cast clouts and old
rotten rags, and let them down by cords into the
dungeon to Jeremiah.
Then Ebed-melech took the men with him and went to the king’s palace, to a place below the
storehouse. From there he took old rags and worn-out clothes and
lowered them with ropes to Jeremiah in the
cistern.
And when they went, I heard the noise of their wings, like the noise of great waters, as the voice of the
Almighty, the voice of speech, as the noise of an host: when they stood, they let down their wings.
When the creatures moved, I heard the sound of their wings like the
roar of many waters, like the voice of the
Almighty, like the
tumult of an army. When they stood still, they
lowered their wings.
And there was a voice from the
firmament that was over their heads, when they stood, and had let down their wings.
And there came a voice from above the
expanse over their heads as they stood still with their wings
lowered.
And the
pavement by the side of the gates over against the length of the gates was the
lower pavement.
which
flanked the gateways and corresponded to the length of the gates; this was the
lower pavement.
Then he measured the breadth from the
forefront of the
lower gate unto the
forefront of the inner court without, an hundred cubits eastward and northward.
Then he measured the distance from the front of the
lower gateway to the outside of the inner court; it was a hundred cubits on the east side as well as on the north.
And there was an
enlarging, and a winding about still upward to the side chambers: for the winding about of the house went still upward round about the house: therefore the breadth of the house was still upward, and so increased from the
lowest chamber to the highest by the midst.
The side rooms surrounding the temple
widened at each successive level, because the structure surrounding the temple ascended by stages corresponding to the narrowing of the temple wall as it rose upward. And so a
stairway went up from the
lowest story to the highest, through the middle one.
Now the upper chambers were shorter: for the
galleries were higher than these, than the
lower, and than the
middlemost of the building.
Now the upper chambers were smaller because the
galleries took more space from the chambers on the
lower and middle floors of the building.
For they were in three stories, but had not pillars as the pillars of the courts: therefore the building was
straitened more than the
lowest and the
middlemost from the ground.
For they were arranged in three stories, and unlike the courts, they had no pillars. So the upper chambers were set back further than the lower and middle floors.
And from the bottom upon the ground even to the
lower settle shall be two cubits, and the breadth one
cubit; and from the lesser settle even to the greater settle shall be four cubits, and the breadth one
cubit.
The space from the
gutter on the ground to the
lower ledge shall be two cubits, and the
ledge one
cubit wide. The space from the smaller
ledge to the larger
ledge shall be four cubits, and the
ledge one
cubit wide.
Then the mariners were afraid, and
cried every man unto his god, and cast forth the wares that were in the ship into the sea, to
lighten it of them. But
Jonah was gone down into the sides of the ship; and he lay, and was fast
asleep.
The sailors were afraid, and each
cried out to his own god. And they threw the ship’s
cargo into the sea to
lighten the load. But
Jonah had gone down to the
lowest part of the vessel, where he lay down and fell into a deep sleep.
And when they could not come
nigh unto him for the press, they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the
palsy lay.
Since they were unable to get to Jesus through the crowd, they uncovered the roof above Him, made an opening, and
lowered the
paralytic on his mat.
And when they could not find by what way they might bring him in because of the multitude, they went upon the housetop, and let him down through the
tiling with his
couch into the midst before Jesus.
but they could not find a way through the crowd. So they went up on the roof and
lowered him on his mat through the
tiles into the middle of the crowd, right in front of Jesus.
And he that
bade thee and him come and say to thee, Give this man place; and thou begin with shame to take the
lowest room.
Then the host who invited both of you will come and tell you, ‘Give this man your seat.’ And in
humiliation, you will have to take the last place.
But when thou art
bidden, go and sit down in the
lowest room; that when he that
bade thee cometh, he may say unto thee, Friend, go up higher: then shalt thou have worship in the presence of them that sit at meat with thee.
But when you are invited, go and sit in the last place, so that your host will come and tell you, ‘Friend, move up to a better place.’ Then you will be honored in front of
everyone at the table with you.
Then the disciples took him by night, and let him down by the wall in a
basket.
One night, however, his disciples took him and
lowered him in a
basket through a window in the wall.
Which when they had taken up, they used helps, undergirding the ship; and, fearing lest they should fall into the quicksands,
strake sail, and so were driven.
After
hoisting it up, the
crew used ropes to
undergird the ship. And fearing that they would run
aground on the sandbars of
Syrtis, they
lowered the sea anchor and were driven along.
And as the
shipmen were about to
flee out of the ship, when they had let down the boat into the sea, under colour as though they would have cast anchors out of the
foreship,
Meanwhile, the sailors attempted to escape from the ship. Pretending to
lower anchors from the bow, they let the
lifeboat down into the sea.
And through a window in a
basket was I let down by the wall, and escaped his hands.
But I was
lowered in a
basket through a window in the wall and escaped his
grasp.
(Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?
What does “He ascended” mean, except that He also descended to the lower parts of the earth?
Thou madest him a little
lower than the angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honour, and
didst set him over the works of thy hands:
You made him a little lower than the angels; You crowned him with glory and honor
But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.
But we see Jesus, who was made a little
lower than the angels, now crowned with glory and honor because He suffered death, so that by the grace of God He might taste death for
everyone.
And in the hearing of the nobles, and of the king’s sons, and in the hearing of the elders, and of all the people, from the lowest unto the highest, even of all them that dwelt at Babylon by the river Sud.
wherefore, I
humbly beseech thee,
forgive me, O Lord,
forgive me, and destroy me not with mine iniquites. Be not
angry with me for ever, by reserving evil for me; neither
condemn me to the
lower parts of the earth. For thou art the God, even the God of them that
repent;
