lying spirit in the mouths of all his prophets.’ ‘You will surely
entice him and prevail,’ said the LORD. ‘Go and do it.’

lain still and been quiet, I should have
slept: then had I been at rest,
For now I would be
lying down in peace; I would be
asleep and at rest

lying lips be put to silence; which speak
grievous things proudly and
contemptuously against the righteous.

lying lips be silenced— lips that speak with
arrogance against the righteous, full of pride and contempt.

lying rather than to speak righteousness.
Selah.
You love evil more than good,
falsehood more than speaking truth.
Selah For the sin of their mouth and the words of their lips let them even be taken in their pride: and for
cursing and
lying which they speak.

trapped in their pride, in the curses and lies they utter.

lying lips and a
deceitful tongue.

lying lips, and he that uttereth a
slander, is a
fool.

lip of truth shall be established for ever: but a
lying tongue is but for a moment.

endure forever, but a
lying tongue lasts only a moment.

abomination to the LORD: but they that deal truly are his delight.

lying lips to a ruler!

plea of the
needy is just.

watchmen are blind: they are all ignorant, they are all
dumb dogs, they cannot bark; sleeping,
lying down, loving to
slumber.

mute dogs, they cannot bark; they are dreamers
lying around, loving to
slumber.

How do ye say, We are wise, and the law of the LORD is with us? Lo, certainly in vain made he it; the pen of the
scribes is in vain.
How can you say, ‘We are wise, and the Law of the LORD is with us,’ when in fact the
lying pen of the
scribes has produced a
deception?
And the slain of the LORD shall be at that day from one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth: they shall not be
lamented, neither gathered, nor buried; they shall be dung upon the ground.
Those slain by the LORD on that day will be spread from one end of the earth to the other. They will not be
mourned, gathered, or buried. They will be like dung
lying on the ground.
Because they have committed
villany in Israel, and have committed
adultery with their neighbours’ wives, and have spoken
lying words in my name, which I have not commanded them; even I know, and am a witness, saith the LORD.

lying divination, saying, The LORD saith: and the LORD hath not sent them: and they have made others to hope that they would
confirm the word.

fulfillment of their message.
Have ye not seen a vain vision, and have ye not spoken a
lying divination, whereas ye say, The LORD saith it;
albeit I have not spoken?
Haven’t you seen a false vision and spoken a
lying divination when you
proclaim, ‘Thus declares the LORD,’ even though I have not spoken?
And mine hand shall be upon the prophets that see vanity, and that divine lies: they shall not be in the assembly of my people, neither shall they be written in the writing of the house of Israel, neither shall they enter into the land of Israel; and ye shall know that I am the Lord GOD.
My hand will be against the prophets who see false visions and speak lying divinations. They will not belong to the council of My people or be recorded in the register of the house of Israel, nor will they enter the land of Israel. Then you will know that I am the Lord GOD.
And will ye
pollute me among my people for handfuls of barley and for pieces of bread, to
slay the souls that should not die, and to save the souls alive that should not live, by your
lying to my people that hear your lies?
You have
profaned Me among My people for handfuls of barley and scraps of bread. By
lying to My people who would
listen, you have killed those who should not have died and
spared those who should not have lived.

daubed them with untempered
morter, seeing vanity, and divining lies unto them, saying, Thus saith the Lord GOD, when the LORD hath not spoken.

But if ye will not make known unto me the dream, there is but one decree for you: for ye have prepared
lying and corrupt words to speak before me, till the time be changed: therefore tell me the dream, and I shall know that ye can
shew me the interpretation thereof.
If you do not tell me the dream, there is only one decree for you. You have
conspired to speak before me false and
fraudulent words, hoping the situation will change. Therefore tell me the dream, and I will know that you can give me its interpretation.”

laughed at Him. After He had put them all outside, He took the child’s father and mother and His own companions, and went in to see the child.

Serving the Lord with all
humility of mind, and with many tears, and temptations, which
befell me by the
lying in wait of the Jews:
I served the Lord with great
humility and with tears, especially in the trials that came upon me through the plots of the Jews.
And when Paul’s sister’s son heard of their lying in wait, he went and entered into the castle, and told Paul.
