Thus saith the Lord GOD; In the day when he went down to the grave I caused a
mourning: I covered the deep for him, and I restrained the floods thereof, and the great waters were stayed: and I caused
Lebanon to
mourn for him, and all the trees of the field
fainted for him.
This is what the Lord GOD says: ‘On the day it was brought down to
Sheol, I caused
mourning. I covered the deep because of it; I held back its rivers; its abundant waters were restrained. I
made Lebanon mourn for it, and all the trees of the field
fainted because of it.
I
made the nations to
shake at the sound of his fall, when I cast him down to
hell with them that descend into the pit: and all the trees of
Eden, the choice and best of
Lebanon, all that drink water, shall be comforted in the
nether parts of the earth.
I
made the nations
quake at the sound of its
downfall, when I cast it down to
Sheol with those who descend to the Pit. Then all the trees of
Eden, the choicest and best of
Lebanon, all the well-watered trees, were
consoled in the earth below.
So thou, O son of man, I have set thee a
watchman unto the house of Israel; therefore thou shalt hear the word at my mouth, and
warn them from me.
As for you, O son of man, I have
made you a
watchman for the house of Israel; so hear the word from My mouth and give them the
warning from Me.
Then shall they know that I am the LORD, when I have laid the land most
desolate because of all their abominations which they have committed.
Then they will know that I am the LORD, when I have
made the land a
desolate waste because of all the abominations they have committed.’
Therefore
prophesy and say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because they have
made you
desolate, and
swallowed you up on every side, that ye might be a possession unto the residue of the heathen, and ye are taken up in the lips of talkers, and are an
infamy of the people:
therefore
prophesy and declare that this is what the Lord GOD says: Because they have
made you
desolate and have
trampled you on every side, so that you became a possession of the rest of the nations and were taken up in
slander by the lips of their talkers,
After that they have borne their shame, and all their trespasses whereby they have
trespassed against me, when they dwelt safely in their land, and none
made them afraid.
They will
forget their disgrace and all the
treachery they committed against Me, when they dwell securely in their land, with no one to
frighten them.
He
made also posts of
threescore cubits, even unto the post of the court round about the gate.
Then brought he me into the outward court, and, lo, there were chambers, and a
pavement made for the court round about: thirty chambers were upon the
pavement.
Then he brought me into the outer court, and there were chambers and a
pavement laid out all around the court. Thirty chambers faced the
pavement,
And it was
made with cherubims and palm trees, so that a palm tree was between a
cherub and a
cherub; and every
cherub had two faces;
were alternating carved
cherubim and palm trees. Each
cherub had two faces:
So that the face of a man was toward the palm tree on the one side, and the face of a young lion toward the palm tree on the other side: it was made through all the house round about.
the face of a man was toward the palm tree on one side, and the face of a young lion was toward the palm tree on the other side. They were carved all the way around the temple.
From the ground unto above the door were cherubims and palm trees made, and on the wall of the temple.
Cherubim and palm trees were carved on the wall of the outer sanctuary from the floor to the space above the entrance.
And there were
made on them, on the doors of the temple, cherubims and palm trees, like as were
made upon the walls; and there were thick planks upon the face of the
porch without.
Cherubim and palm trees like those on the walls were carved on the doors of the outer sanctuary, and there was a wooden
canopy outside, on the front of the
portico.
Now when he had made an end of measuring the inner house, he brought me forth toward the gate whose prospect is toward the east, and measured it round about.
Now when the man had finished measuring the interior of the temple area, he led me out by the gate that faced east, and he measured the area all around:
And it shall come to pass, that when they enter in at the gates of the inner court, they shall be clothed with linen garments; and no wool shall come upon them, whiles they minister in the gates of the inner court, and within.
When they enter the gates of the inner court, they are to wear linen garments; they must not wear anything made of wool when they minister at the gates of the inner court or inside the temple.
And there was a row of building round about in them, round about them four, and it was made with boiling places under the rows round about.
Around the inside of each of the four courts was a row of masonry with ovens built at the base of the walls on all sides.
But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not
defile himself with the portion of the king’s meat, nor with the wine which he
drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not
defile himself.
But Daniel
made up his mind that he would not
defile himself with the king’s food or wine. So he asked the chief official for permission not to
defile himself.
The king answered and said to the Chaldeans, The thing is gone from me: if ye will not make known unto me the dream, with the interpretation thereof, ye shall be cut in pieces, and your houses shall be
made a
dunghill.
The king replied to the astrologers, “My word is final: If you do not tell me the dream and its interpretation, you will be cut into pieces and your houses will be reduced to
rubble.
For this cause the king was
angry and very
furious, and commanded to destroy all the wise men of Babylon.
This
response made the king so
furious with anger that he gave orders to destroy all the wise men of Babylon.
He answered and said to Arioch the king’s captain, Why is the decree so
hasty from the king? Then Arioch
made the thing known to Daniel.
“Why is the decree from the king so harsh?” he asked. At this time Arioch explained the situation to Daniel.
Then Daniel went to his house, and
made the thing known to Hananiah, Mishael, and
Azariah, his companions:
Then Daniel returned to his house and explained the matter to his friends Hananiah, Mishael, and
Azariah,
I
thank thee, and praise thee, O thou God of my fathers, who hast given me wisdom and might, and hast
made known unto me now what we desired of thee: for thou hast now
made known unto us the king’s matter.
To You, O God of my fathers, I give
thanks and praise, because You have given me wisdom and power. And now You have
made known to me what we have requested, for You have
made known to us the dream of the king.”
But there is a God in heaven that revealeth secrets, and maketh known to the king
Nebuchadnezzar what shall be in the latter days. Thy dream, and the visions of thy head upon thy bed, are these;
But there is a God in heaven who reveals mysteries, and He has
made known to King
Nebuchadnezzar what will happen in the latter days. Your dream and the visions that came into your mind as you lay on your bed were these:
As for thee, O king, thy thoughts came into thy mind upon thy bed, what should come to pass
hereafter: and he that revealeth secrets maketh known to thee what shall come to pass.
As you lay on your bed, O king, your thoughts turned to the future, and the
Revealer of Mysteries
made known to you what will happen.
But as for me, this secret is not revealed to me for any wisdom that I have more than any living, but for their sakes that shall make known the interpretation to the king, and that thou mightest know the thoughts of thy heart.
And to me this
mystery has been revealed, not because I have more wisdom than any man alive, but in order that the interpretation might be
made known to the king, and that you may understand the thoughts of your mind.
And
wheresoever the children of men dwell, the beasts of the field and the fowls of the heaven hath he given into thine hand, and hath
made thee ruler over them all. Thou art this head of gold.
Wherever the sons of men or beasts of the field or birds of the air dwell, He has given them into your hand and has made you ruler over them all. You are that head of gold.
And whereas thou sawest the feet and toes, part of potters’ clay, and part of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; but there shall be in it of the strength of the iron,
forasmuch as thou sawest the iron mixed with
miry clay.
And just as you saw that the feet and toes were made partly of fired clay and partly of iron, so this will be a divided kingdom, yet some of the strength of iron will be in it—just as you saw the iron mixed with clay.
Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it
brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath
made known to the king what shall come to pass
hereafter: and the dream is certain, and the interpretation thereof sure.
And just as you saw a stone being cut out of the mountain without human hands, and it
shattered the iron, bronze, clay, silver, and gold, so the great God has told the king what will happen in the future. The dream is true, and its interpretation is
trustworthy.”
Then the king made Daniel a great man, and gave him many great gifts, and made him ruler over the whole province of Babylon, and chief of the governors over all the wise men of Babylon.
Then the king promoted Daniel and gave him many generous gifts. He
made him ruler over the entire province of Babylon and chief
administrator over all the wise men of Babylon.
Nebuchadnezzar the king
made an image of gold, whose height was
threescore cubits, and the breadth thereof six cubits: he set it up in the plain of
Dura, in the province of Babylon.
King
Nebuchadnezzar made a golden statue sixty cubits high and six cubits wide, and he set it up on the plain of
Dura in the province of Babylon.
Thou, O king, hast
made a decree, that every man that shall hear the sound of the
cornet,
flute,
harp,
sackbut,
psaltery, and
dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, shall fall down and worship the golden image:
You, O king, have issued a decree that
everyone who hears the sound of the horn,
flute,
zither,
lyre,
harp, pipes, and all kinds of music must fall down and worship the golden statue,
Now if ye be ready that at what time ye hear the sound of the
cornet,
flute,
harp,
sackbut,
psaltery, and
dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the image which I have
made; well: but if ye worship not, ye shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning
fiery furnace; and who is that God that shall deliver you out of my hands?
Now, if you are ready, as soon as you hear the sound of the horn,
flute,
zither,
lyre,
harp, pipes, and all kinds of music, you must fall down and worship the statue I have
made. But if you refuse to worship, you will be thrown at once into the
blazing fiery furnace. Then what god will be able to deliver you from my hands?”
Therefore I make a decree, That every people, nation, and language, which speak any thing
amiss against the God of
Shadrach, Meshach, and
Abed-nego, shall be cut in pieces, and their houses shall be
made a
dunghill: because there is no other God that can deliver after this sort.
Therefore I decree that the people of any nation or language who say anything offensive against the God of
Shadrach, Meshach, and
Abednego will be cut into pieces and their houses reduced to
rubble. For there is no other god who can deliver in this way.”
I saw a dream which made me afraid, and the thoughts upon my bed and the visions of my head troubled me.
I had a dream, and it
frightened me; while in my bed, the images and visions in my mind
alarmed me.
Therefore made I a decree to bring in all the wise men of Babylon before me, that they might make known unto me the interpretation of the dream.
So I issued a decree that all the wise men of Babylon be brought before me to
interpret the dream for me.
Belshazzar the king
made a great feast to a thousand of his lords, and
drank wine before the thousand.
Later, King
Belshazzar held a great feast for a thousand of his nobles, and he
drank wine with them.
The king
cried aloud to bring in the astrologers, the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers. And the king spake, and said to the wise men of Babylon,
Whosoever shall read this writing, and
shew me the interpretation thereof, shall be clothed with scarlet, and have a chain of gold about his neck, and shall be the third ruler in the kingdom.
The king called out for the enchanters, astrologers, and diviners to be brought in, and he said to these wise men of Babylon, “
Whoever reads this inscription and tells me its interpretation will be clothed in purple and have a gold chain placed around his neck, and he will be
made the third highest ruler in the kingdom.”
There is a man in thy kingdom, in whom is the spirit of the holy gods; and in the days of thy father light and understanding and wisdom, like the wisdom of the gods, was found in him; whom the king
Nebuchadnezzar thy father, the king, I say, thy father,
made master of the magicians, astrologers, Chaldeans, and soothsayers;
There is a man in your kingdom who has the spirit of the holy gods in him. In the days of your father he was found to have insight, intelligence, and wisdom like that of the gods. Your father, King
Nebuchadnezzar, appointed him chief of the magicians, enchanters, astrologers, and diviners. Your own father, the king,
And I have heard of thee, that thou canst make interpretations, and
dissolve doubts: now if thou canst read the writing, and make known to me the interpretation thereof, thou shalt be clothed with scarlet, and have a chain of gold about thy neck, and shalt be the third ruler in the kingdom.
But I have heard about you, that you are able to give interpretations and
solve difficult problems. Therefore, if you can read this inscription and give me its interpretation, you will be clothed in purple and have a gold chain placed around your neck, and you will be
made the third highest ruler in the kingdom.”
And he was driven from the sons of men; and his heart was
made like the beasts, and his dwelling was with the wild
asses: they fed him with grass like oxen, and his body was wet with the
dew of heaven; till he knew that the most high God ruled in the kingdom of men, and that he appointeth over it
whomsoever he will.
He was driven away from mankind, and his mind was like that of a beast. He lived with the wild
donkeys and
ate grass like an ox, and his body was
drenched with the
dew of heaven until he acknowledged that the Most High God rules over the kingdom of mankind, setting over it whom He wishes.
Then commanded
Belshazzar, and they clothed Daniel with scarlet, and put a chain of gold about his neck, and
made a
proclamation concerning him, that he should be the third ruler in the kingdom.
Then
Belshazzar gave the command, and they clothed Daniel in purple, placed a gold chain around his neck, and proclaimed him the third highest ruler in the kingdom.
The first was like a lion, and had eagle’s wings: I
beheld till the wings thereof were
plucked, and it was lifted up from the earth, and
made stand upon the feet as a man, and a man’s heart was given to it.
The first beast was like a lion, and it had the wings of an eagle. I watched until its wings were
torn off and it was lifted up from the ground and
made to stand on two feet like a man, and given the mind of a man.
I came near unto one of them that stood by, and asked him the truth of all this. So he told me, and made me know the interpretation of the things.
I approached one of those who were standing there, and I asked him the true meaning of all this. So he told me the interpretation of these things:
I
beheld, and the same horn
made war with the saints, and prevailed against them;
As I watched, this horn was
waging war against the saints and prevailing against them,
In the first year of
Darius the son of
Ahasuerus, of the seed of the Medes, which was
made king over the realm of the Chaldeans;
In the first year of
Darius son of
Xerxes, a
Mede by descent, who was
made ruler over the kingdom of the Chaldeans—
And I prayed unto the LORD my God, and
made my confession, and said, O Lord, the great and
dreadful God, keeping the covenant and mercy to them that love him, and to them that keep his commandments;
And I prayed to the LORD my God and
confessed, “O, Lord, the great and
awesome God, who keeps His covenant of loving devotion to those who love Him and keep His commandments,
As it is written in the law of Moses, all this evil is come upon us: yet
made we not our prayer before the LORD our God, that we might turn from our
iniquities, and understand thy truth.
Just as it is written in the Law of Moses, all this
disaster has come upon us, yet we have not sought the favor of the LORD our God by turning from our
iniquities and giving attention to Your truth.
And now, O Lord our God, that hast brought thy people forth out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand, and hast
gotten thee
renown, as at this day; we have
sinned, we have done wickedly.
Now, O Lord our God, who brought Your people out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand, and who
made for
Yourself a name
renowned to this day, we have
sinned; we have acted wickedly.
And after the league
made with him he shall work
deceitfully: for he shall come up, and shall become strong with a small people.
After an alliance is
made with him, he will act
deceitfully; for he will rise to power with only a few people.
And some of them of understanding shall fall, to try them, and to
purge, and to make them white, even to the time of the end: because it is yet for a time appointed.
Some of the wise will fall, so that they may be refined,
purified, and
made spotless until the time of the end, for it will still come at the appointed time.
Many shall be
purified, and
made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.
Many will be
purified,
made spotless, and refined, but the wicked will continue to act wickedly. None of the wicked will understand, but the wise will understand.
Ephraim shall be
desolate in the day of
rebuke: among the tribes of Israel have I
made known that which shall surely be.
Ephraim will be laid waste on the day of
rebuke. Among the tribes of Israel I
proclaim what is certain.
In the day of our king the princes have made him sick with bottles of wine; he stretched out his hand with scorners.
The princes are inflamed with wine on the day of our king; so he joins hands with those who
mock him.
For they have
made ready their heart like an
oven, whiles they lie in wait: their
baker sleepeth all the night; in the morning it burneth as a flaming fire.
For they prepare their heart like an
oven while they lie in wait; all night their anger smolders; in the morning it blazes like a flaming fire.
They have set up kings, but not by me: they have made princes, and I knew it not: of their silver and their gold have they made them idols, that they may be cut off.
They set up kings, but not by Me. They make princes, but without My
approval. With their silver and gold they make themselves idols, to their own destruction.
For from Israel was it also: the
workman made it; therefore it is not God: but the
calf of Samaria shall be broken in pieces.
For this thing is from Israel— a
craftsman made it, and it is not God. It will be broken to pieces, that
calf of Samaria.
Because Ephraim hath made many altars to sin, altars shall be unto him to sin.
Though Ephraim multiplied the altars for sin, they became his altars for
sinning.
Rejoice not, O Israel, for joy, as other people: for thou hast gone a
whoring from thy God, thou hast loved a reward upon every
cornfloor.
The days of
visitation are come, the days of recompence are come; Israel shall know it: the prophet is a
fool, the spiritual man is
mad, for the multitude of thine iniquity, and the great hatred.
The days of punishment have come; the days of
retribution have arrived— let Israel know it. The prophet is called a
fool, and the inspired man
insane, because of the greatness of your iniquity and hostility.
Israel is an empty vine, he bringeth forth fruit unto himself: according to the multitude of his fruit he hath increased the altars; according to the goodness of his land they have made goodly images.
Israel was a
luxuriant vine, yielding fruit for himself. The more his fruit increased, the more he increased the altars. The better his land produced, the better he
made the sacred pillars.
Yea, he had power over the angel, and prevailed: he
wept, and
made supplication unto him: he found him in
Bethel, and there he spake with us;
Yes, he struggled with the angel and prevailed; he
wept and sought His favor; he found Him at
Bethel and spoke with Him there—
And now they sin more and more, and have
made them
molten images of their silver, and idols according to their own understanding, all of it the work of the
craftsmen: they say of them, Let the men that sacrifice
kiss the
calves.
Now they sin more and more and make for themselves cast images, idols
skillfully made from their silver, all of them the work of
craftsmen. People say of them, “They offer human sacrifice and
kiss the
calves!”
He hath laid my vine waste, and barked my fig tree: he hath made it clean bare, and cast it away; the branches thereof are made white.
It has laid waste My
grapevine and
splintered My fig tree. It has
stripped off the bark and thrown it away; the branches have turned white.
How do the beasts
groan! the herds of cattle are
perplexed, because they have no pasture;
yea, the flocks of sheep are
made desolate.
How the cattle
groan! The herds
wander in confusion because they have no pasture. Even the flocks of sheep are suffering.
But ye gave the
Nazarites wine to drink; and commanded the prophets, saying,
Prophesy not.
“But you
made the Nazirites drink wine and commanded the prophets not to
prophesy.
I have sent among you the
pestilence after the manner of Egypt: your young men have I slain with the sword, and have taken away your horses; and I have
made the
stink of your camps to come up unto your nostrils: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.
“I sent plagues among you like those of Egypt; I killed your young men with the sword, along with your captured horses. I filled your nostrils with the
stench of your camp, yet you did not return to Me,” declares the LORD.
Seek him that maketh the seven stars and
Orion, and turneth the shadow of death into the morning, and maketh the day dark with night: that calleth for the waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth: The LORD is his name:
He who
made the
Pleiades and
Orion, who turns darkness into
dawn and darkens day into night, who
summons the waters of the sea and pours them over the face of the earth— the LORD is His name—
But ye have borne the tabernacle of your
Moloch and Chiun your images, the star of your god, which ye
made to
yourselves.
You have taken along Sakkuth your king and Kaiwan your star god, the idols you
made for
yourselves.
And it came to pass, that when they had
made an end of eating the grass of the land, then I said, O Lord GOD,
forgive, I
beseech thee: by whom shall Jacob arise? for he is small.
And when the locusts had eaten every green plant in the land, I said, “Lord GOD, please
forgive! How will Jacob
survive, since he is so small?”
Thus he shewed me: and, behold, the Lord stood upon a wall made by a plumbline, with a plumbline in his hand.
This is what He showed me: Behold, the Lord was standing by a wall true to
plumb, with a
plumb line in His hand.
Behold, I have
made thee small among the heathen: thou art greatly
despised.
“Behold, I will make you small among the nations; you will be deeply
despised.
And he said unto them, I am an Hebrew; and I fear the LORD, the God of heaven, which hath made the sea and the dry land.
“I am a Hebrew,” replied
Jonah. “I worship the LORD, the God of the heavens, who
made the sea and the dry land.”
Then the men feared the LORD exceedingly, and offered a sacrifice unto the LORD, and made vows.
Then the men feared the LORD greatly, and they offered a sacrifice to the LORD and made vows to Him.
So
Jonah went out of the city, and sat on the east side of the city, and there
made him a
booth, and sat under it in the shadow, till he might see what would become of the city.
Then
Jonah left the city and sat down east of it, where he
made himself a shelter and sat in its shade to see what would happen to the city.
And the LORD God prepared a
gourd, and
made it to come up over
Jonah, that it might be a shadow over his head, to deliver him from his grief. So
Jonah was exceeding
glad of the
gourd.
So the LORD God appointed a vine, and it grew up to provide shade over
Jonah’s head to ease his discomfort, and
Jonah was greatly pleased with the plant.
Then said the LORD, Thou hast had
pity on the
gourd, for the which thou hast not laboured, neither
madest it grow; which came up in a night, and perished in a night:
But the LORD said, “You cared about the plant, which you neither tended nor
made grow. It
sprang up in a night and perished in a night.
The shield of his mighty men is
made red, the
valiant men are in scarlet: the
chariots shall be with flaming torches in the day of his preparation, and the
fir trees shall be
terribly shaken.
The shields of his mighty men are red; the
valiant warriors are dressed in scarlet. The fittings of the
chariots flash like fire on the day they are prepared, and the spears of
cypress have been
brandished.
Where is the dwelling of the lions, and the feeding place of the young lions, where the lion, even the old lion, walked, and the lion’s
whelp, and none
made them afraid?
Where is the lions’
lair or the feeding ground of the young lions, where the lion and
lioness prowled with their cubs, with nothing to
frighten them away?
And makest men as the fishes of the sea, as the
creeping things, that have no ruler over them?
You have
made men like the fish of the sea, like
creeping things that have no ruler.
For the violence of
Lebanon shall cover thee, and the
spoil of beasts, which
made them afraid, because of men’s blood, and for the violence of the land, of the city, and of all that dwell therein.
For your violence against
Lebanon will
overwhelm you, and the destruction of animals will
terrify you, because of your
bloodshed against men and your violence against the land, the city, and all their dwellers.
Thy bow was
made quite naked, according to the oaths of the tribes, even thy word.
Selah. Thou
didst cleave the earth with rivers.
You
brandished Your bow; You called for many arrows.
Selah You split the earth with rivers.
I have cut off the nations: their towers are
desolate; I
made their streets waste, that none passeth by: their cities are destroyed, so that there is no man, that there is none inhabitant.
“I have cut off the nations; their corner towers are destroyed. I have made their streets deserted with no one to pass through. Their cities are laid waste, with no man, no inhabitant.
According to the word that I covenanted with you when ye came out of Egypt, so my spirit remaineth among you: fear ye not.
This is the promise I made to you when you came out of Egypt. And My Spirit remains among you; do not be afraid.”
Yea, they
made their hearts as an
adamant stone, lest they should hear the law, and the words which the LORD of hosts hath sent in his spirit by the former prophets: therefore came a great wrath from the LORD of hosts.
They
made their hearts like flint and would not
listen to the law or to the words that the LORD of Hosts had sent by His Spirit through the earlier prophets. Therefore great anger came from the LORD of Hosts.
When I have bent Judah for me, filled the bow with Ephraim, and raised up thy sons, O
Zion, against thy sons, O Greece, and
made thee as the sword of a mighty man.
For I will bend Judah as My bow and fit it with Ephraim. I will
rouse your sons, O
Zion, against the sons of Greece. I will make you like the sword of a mighty man.
Mine anger was
kindled against the
shepherds, and I punished the goats: for the LORD of hosts hath visited his flock the house of Judah, and hath
made them as his goodly horse in the battle.
“My anger burns against the
shepherds, and I will
punish the leaders. For the LORD of Hosts attends to His flock, the house of Judah; He will make them like His royal
steed in battle.
And I took my staff, even Beauty, and cut it
asunder, that I might break my covenant which I had
made with all the people.
Next I took my staff called Favor and cut it in two,
revoking the covenant I had
made with all the nations.
In that day, saith the LORD, I will
smite every horse with
astonishment, and his rider with
madness: and I will open mine eyes upon the house of Judah, and will
smite every horse of the people with blindness.
On that day, declares the LORD, I will strike every horse with
panic, and every rider with
madness. I will keep a watchful eye on the house of Judah, but I will strike with blindness all the horses of the nations.
but
Esau I have
hated, and I have
made his mountains a wasteland and left his inheritance to the desert jackals.”
Therefore have I also made you contemptible and base before all the people, according as ye have not kept my ways, but have been partial in the law.
“So I in turn have
made you
despised and
humiliated before all the people, because you have not kept My ways, but have shown
partiality in matters of the law.”
And did not he make one? Yet had he the residue of the spirit. And wherefore one? That he might seek a godly seed. Therefore take
heed to your spirit, and let none deal
treacherously against the wife of his youth.
Has not the LORD
made them one, having a portion of the Spirit? And why one? Because He seeks godly offspring. So guard
yourselves in your spirit and do not break faith with the wife of your youth.
And when the
tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be
made bread.
The
tempter came to Him and said, “If You are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.”
Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour,
wherewith shall it be salted? it is
thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be
trodden under foot of men.
You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its
savor, how can it be
made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and
trampled by men.
No man putteth a piece of new cloth unto an old garment, for that which is put in to fill it up taketh from the garment, and the rent is made worse.
No one sews a
patch of
unshrunk cloth on an old garment. For the
patch will pull away from the garment, and a worse
tear will result.
But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour.
Jesus turned and saw her. “Take courage, daughter,” He said, “your faith has

So do not be afraid of them. For there is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, and nothing hidden that will not be made known.
And it came to pass, when Jesus had
made an end of commanding his twelve disciples, he departed thence to teach and to

And
besought him that they might only touch the
hem of his garment: and as many as touched were
made perfectly whole.
And honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition.
he need not honor his father or mother with it. Thus you
nullify the word of God for the sake of your tradition.
