These are the

And David came to
Baal-perazim, and David
smote them there, and said, The LORD hath broken forth upon mine enemies before me, as the breach of waters. Therefore he called the
name of that place
Baal-perazim.
So David went to
Baal-perazim, where he defeated the Philistines and said, “Like a
bursting flood, the LORD has
burst out against my enemies before me.” So he called that place
Baal-perazim.
And David arose, and went with all the people that were with him from Baale of Judah, to bring up from thence the ark of God, whose name is called by the name of the LORD of hosts that dwelleth between the cherubims.
And he and all his troops set out for Baale of Judah to bring up from there the ark of God, which is called by the
Name— the
name of the LORD of Hosts, who is enthroned between the
cherubim that are on it.
And David was displeased, because the LORD had made a breach upon Uzzah: and he called the
name of the place
Perez-uzzah to this day.
Then David became
angry because the LORD had
burst forth against Uzzah; so he
named that place
Perez-uzzah, as it is called to this day.

And I was with thee
whithersoever thou wentest, and have cut off all thine enemies out of thy sight, and have made thee a great
name, like unto the
name of the great men that are in the earth.
I have been with you wherever you have gone, and I have cut off all your enemies from before you. Now I will make for you a name like the greatest in the land.
He shall build an house for my
name, and I will
stablish the throne of his kingdom for ever.
He will build a house for My
Name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom
forever.
And what one nation in the earth is like thy people, even like Israel, whom God went to
redeem for a people to himself, and to make him a
name, and to do for you great things and terrible, for thy land, before thy people, which thou redeemedst to thee from Egypt, from the nations and their gods?
And who is like Your people Israel—the one nation on earth whom God went out to
redeem as a people for Himself and to make a
name for Himself? You performed great and
awesome wonders by driving out nations and their gods from before Your people, whom You redeemed for
Yourself from Egypt.
And let thy
name be
magnified for ever, saying, The LORD of hosts is the God over Israel: and let the house of thy servant David be established before thee.
so that Your

And he sent by the hand of
Nathan the prophet; and he called his
name Jedidiah, because of the LORD.
and sent word through
Nathan the prophet to
name him Jedidiah because the LORD loved him.
Now therefore gather the rest of the people together, and
encamp against the city, and take it: lest I take the city, and it be called after my
name.
Now, therefore,
assemble the rest of the troops, lay siege to the city, and capture it. Otherwise I will capture the city, and it will be
named after me.”
And it came to pass after this, that
Absalom the son of David had a fair sister, whose
name was Tamar; and Amnon the son of David loved her.
After some time, David’s son Amnon fell in love with Tamar, the beautiful sister of David’s son
Absalom.
But Amnon had a friend, whose
name was Jonadab, the son of Shimeah David’s brother: and Jonadab was a very
subtil man.
Now Amnon had a friend
named Jonadab, the son of David’s brother Shimeah. Jonadab was a very
shrewd man,
And, behold, the whole family is risen against thine
handmaid, and they said, Deliver him that
smote his brother, that we may kill him, for the life of his brother whom he
slew; and we will destroy the heir also: and so they shall
quench my coal which is left, and shall not leave to my husband neither
name nor remainder upon the earth.
Now the whole clan has risen up against your
maidservant and said, ‘Hand over the one who struck down his brother, that we may put him to death for the life of the brother whom he killed. Then we will cut off the heir as well!’ So they would
extinguish my one remaining
ember by not preserving my husband’s
name or
posterity on the earth.”
And unto
Absalom there were born three sons, and one daughter, whose
name was Tamar: she was a woman of a fair countenance.
Three sons were born to
Absalom, and a daughter
named Tamar, who was a beautiful woman.
And when king David came to Bahurim, behold, thence came out a man of the family of the house of Saul, whose
name was Shimei, the son of
Gera: he came forth, and
cursed still as he came.

name was Shimei son of
Gera, and as he approached, he kept
yelling out curses.
Now
Absalom in his lifetime had taken and reared up for himself a
pillar, which is in the king’s
dale: for he said, I have no son to keep my
name in
remembrance: and he called the
pillar after his own
name: and it is called unto this day,
Absalom’s place.
During his lifetime,
Absalom had set up for himself a
pillar in the King’s Valley, for he had said, “I have no son to preserve the memory of my
name.” So he gave the
pillar his
name, and to this day it is called
Absalom’s Monument.
And there happened to be there a man of
Belial, whose
name was
Sheba, the son of Bichri, a
Benjamite: and he
blew a
trumpet, and said, We have no part in David, neither have we inheritance in the son of
Jesse: every man to his tents, O Israel.
Now a worthless man
named Sheba son of Bichri, a
Benjamite, happened to be there, and he
blew the ram’s horn and
shouted: “We have no share in David, no inheritance in
Jesse’s son. Every man to his tent, O Israel!”
The matter is not so: but a man of mount Ephraim,
Sheba the son of Bichri by
name, hath lifted up his hand against the king, even against David: deliver him only, and I will depart from the city. And the woman said unto
Joab, Behold, his head shall be thrown to thee over the wall.
That is not the case. But a man
named Sheba son of Bichri, from the hill country of Ephraim, has lifted up his hand against the king, against David. Deliver him alone, and I will depart from the city.” “Look,” the woman replied, “his head will be thrown to you over the wall.”
Therefore I will give
thanks unto thee, O LORD, among the heathen, and I will sing praises unto thy
name.
Therefore I will praise You, O LORD, among the nations; I will sing praises to Your name.
These be the
names of the mighty men whom David had: The Tachmonite that sat in the seat, chief among the captains; the same was Adino the Eznite: he lift up his
spear against eight hundred, whom he
slew at one time.
These are the
names of David’s mighty men: Josheb-basshebeth the Tahchemonite was chief of the Three. He
wielded his
spear against eight hundred men, whom he killed at one time.
And
Abishai, the brother of
Joab, the son of Zeruiah, was chief among three. And he lifted up his
spear against three hundred, and
slew them, and had the
name among three.
Now
Abishai, the brother of
Joab and son of Zeruiah, was chief of the Three, and he lifted his
spear against three hundred men, killed them, and won a
name along with the Three.
These things did Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and had the name among three mighty men.
These were the exploits of Benaiah son of Jehoiada, who won a
name alongside the three mighty men.
And moreover the king’s servants came to
bless our lord king David, saying, God make the
name of Solomon better than thy
name, and make his throne greater than thy throne. And the king bowed himself upon the bed.
The king’s servants have also gone to
congratulate our lord King David, saying, ‘May your God make the
name of Solomon more famous than your own
name, and may He make his throne greater than your throne.’ And the king has bowed in worship on his bed,
Only the people sacrificed in high places, because there was no house built unto the name of the LORD, until those days.
The people, however, were still sacrificing on the high places because a house for the Name of the LORD had not yet been built.
And these are their names: The son of Hur, in mount Ephraim:
and these were their names: Ben-hur in the hill country of Ephraim;
Thou knowest how that David my father could not build an house unto the name of the LORD his God for the wars which were about him on every side, until the LORD put them under the soles of his feet.
“As you are well aware, due to the wars
waged on all sides against my father David, he could not build a house for the
Name of the LORD his God until the LORD had put his enemies under his feet.
And, behold, I purpose to build an house unto the name of the LORD my God, as the LORD spake unto David my father, saying, Thy son, whom I will set upon thy throne in thy room, he shall build an house unto my name.
So behold, I plan to build a house for the Name of the LORD my God, according to what the LORD said to my father David: ‘I will put your son on your throne in your place, and he will build the house for My Name.’
And he set up the pillars in the
porch of the temple: and he set up the right
pillar, and called the
name thereof
Jachin: and he set up the left
pillar, and he called the
name thereof Boaz.
Thus he set up the pillars at the
portico of the temple. The
pillar to the south he
named Jachin, and the
pillar to the north he
named Boaz.
Since the day that I brought forth my people Israel out of Egypt, I chose no city out of all the tribes of Israel to build an house, that my name might be therein; but I chose David to be over my people Israel.
‘Since the day I brought My people Israel out of Egypt, I have not chosen a city from any tribe of Israel in which to build a house so that My Name would be there. But I have chosen David to be over My people Israel.’
And it was in the heart of David my father to build an house for the name of the LORD God of Israel.
Now it was in the heart of my father David to build a house for the Name of the LORD, the God of Israel.
And the LORD said unto David my father, Whereas it was in thine heart to build an house unto my
name, thou
didst well that it was in thine heart.
But the LORD said to my father David, ‘Since it was in your heart to build a house for My Name, you have done well to have this in your heart.
Nevertheless thou shalt not build the house; but thy son that shall come forth out of thy loins, he shall build the house unto my name.
Nevertheless, you are not the one to build it; but your son, your own offspring, will build the house for My Name.’
And the LORD hath performed his word that he spake, and I am risen up in the room of David my father, and sit on the throne of Israel, as the LORD promised, and have built an house for the name of the LORD God of Israel.
Now the LORD has fulfilled the word that He spoke. I have succeeded my father David, and I sit on the throne of Israel, as the LORD promised. I have built the house for the Name of the LORD, the God of Israel.
That thine eyes may be open toward this house night and day, even toward the place of which thou hast said, My
name shall be there: that thou mayest
hearken unto the prayer which thy servant shall make toward this place.
May Your eyes be open toward this temple night and day, toward the place of which You said, ‘My Name shall be there,’ so that You may hear the prayer that Your servant prays toward this place.
When thy people Israel be
smitten down before the enemy, because they have
sinned against thee, and shall turn again to thee, and
confess thy
name, and pray, and make
supplication unto thee in this house:
When Your people Israel are defeated before an enemy because they have
sinned against You, and they return to You and
confess Your
name, praying and
pleading with You in this temple,
When heaven is shut up, and there is no rain, because they have
sinned against thee; if they pray toward this place, and
confess thy
name, and turn from their sin, when thou afflictest them:
When the
skies are shut and there is no rain because Your people have
sinned against You, and they pray toward this place and
confess Your
name, and they turn from their sins because You have
afflicted them,
Moreover concerning a stranger, that is not of thy people Israel, but cometh out of a far country for thy name’s sake;
And as for the foreigner who is not of Your people Israel but has come from a distant land because of Your name—
(For they shall hear of thy great name, and of thy strong hand, and of thy stretched out arm;) when he shall come and pray toward this house;
for they will hear of Your great name and mighty hand and outstretched arm—when he comes and prays toward this temple,
Hear thou in heaven thy dwelling place, and do according to all that the stranger calleth to thee for: that all people of the earth may know thy name, to fear thee, as do thy people Israel; and that they may know that this house, which I have builded, is called by thy name.
then may You hear from heaven, Your dwelling place, and do according to all for which the foreigner calls to You. Then all the peoples of the earth will know Your name and fear You, as do Your people Israel, and they will know that this house I have built is called by Your Name.
If thy people go out to battle against their enemy,
whithersoever thou shalt send them, and shall pray unto the LORD toward the city which thou hast chosen, and toward the house that I have built for thy
name:
When Your people go to war against their enemies, wherever You send them, and when they pray to the LORD in the direction of the city You have chosen and the house I have built for Your Name,
And so return unto thee with all their heart, and with all their soul, in the land of their enemies, which led them away
captive, and pray unto thee toward their land, which thou gavest unto their fathers, the city which thou hast chosen, and the house which I have built for thy
name:
and when they return to You with all their heart and soul in the land of the enemies who took them
captive, and when they pray to You in the direction of the land that You gave to their fathers, the city You have chosen, and the house I have built for Your
Name,
And the LORD said unto him, I have heard thy prayer and thy
supplication, that thou hast made before me: I have
hallowed this house, which thou hast built, to put my
name there for ever; and mine eyes and mine heart shall be there perpetually.
And the LORD said to him: “I have heard your prayer and petition before Me. I have consecrated this temple you have built by putting My
Name there
forever; My eyes and My heart will be there for all time.
Then will I cut off Israel out of the land which I have given them; and this house, which I have
hallowed for my
name, will I cast out of my sight; and Israel shall be a
proverb and a
byword among all people:
then I will cut off Israel from the land that I have given them, and I will
banish from My presence this temple I have
sanctified for My
Name. Then Israel will become an object of
scorn and
ridicule among all peoples.

alway before me in Jerusalem, the city which I have chosen me to put my
name there.

And he
cried against the altar in the word of the LORD, and said, O altar, altar, thus saith the LORD; Behold, a child shall be born unto the house of David,
Josiah by
name; and upon thee shall he offer the priests of the high places that burn incense upon thee, and men’s bones shall be burnt upon thee.
And he
cried out against the altar by the word of the LORD, “O altar, O altar, this is what the LORD says: ‘A son
named Josiah will be born to the house of David, and upon you he will sacrifice the priests of the high places who burn incense upon you, and human bones will be burned upon you.’”
And
Rehoboam the son of Solomon reigned in Judah.

And call ye on the name of your gods, and I will call on the name of the LORD: and the God that answereth by fire, let him be God. And all the people answered and said, It is well spoken.

yourselves one bull and prepare it first. Then call on the
name of your god, but do not light the fire.”
And they took the
bullock which was given them, and they dressed it, and called on the
name of
Baal from morning even until
noon, saying, O
Baal, hear us. But there was no voice, nor any that answered. And they
leaped upon the altar which was made.

dug a

name of the LORD?”
