Upon earth there is not his like, who is made without fear.
Nothing on earth is his equal— a creature devoid of fear!
Who is he that hideth counsel without knowledge? therefore have I uttered that I understood not; things too wonderful for me, which I knew not.
You asked, ‘Who is this who conceals My counsel without knowledge?’ Surely I spoke of things I did not understand, things too wonderful for me to know.
And it was so, that after the LORD had spoken these words unto Job, the LORD said to Eliphaz the Temanite, My wrath is
kindled against thee, and against thy two friends: for ye have
not spoken of me the thing that is right, as my servant Job hath.
After the LORD had spoken these words to Job, He said to Eliphaz the Temanite, “My wrath is
kindled against you and your two friends. For you have
not spoken about Me accurately, as My servant Job has.
Therefore take unto you now seven bullocks and seven rams, and go to my servant Job, and offer up for
yourselves a burnt offering; and my servant Job shall pray for you: for him will I accept: lest I deal with you after your folly, in that ye have
not spoken of me the thing which is right, like my servant Job.
So now, take seven bulls and seven rams, go to My servant Job, and sacrifice a burnt offering for
yourselves. Then My servant Job will pray for you, for I will accept his prayer and
not deal with you according to your folly. For you have
not spoken accurately about Me, as My servant Job has.”
Blessed is the man that walketh
not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the
scornful.
Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, or set foot on the path of sinners, or sit in the seat of mockers.
And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall
not wither; and
whatsoever he doeth shall
prosper.
He is like a tree planted by streams of water, yielding its fruit in season, whose leaf does not wither, and who prospers in all he does.
The ungodly are
not so: but are like the
chaff which the wind driveth away.
Not so the wicked! For they are like
chaff driven off by the wind.
Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.
Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God.
Selah.
Many say of me, “God will
not deliver him.”
Selah I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about.
I will not fear the myriads set against me on every side.
Stand in
awe, and sin
not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still.
Selah.
Be
angry, yet do
not sin; on your bed, search your heart and be still.
Selah For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell with thee.
For You are not a God who delights in wickedness; no evil can dwell with You.
The
foolish shall
not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity.
The
boastful cannot stand in Your presence; You
hate all workers of iniquity.
For there is no faithfulness in their mouth; their inward part is very wickedness; their throat is an open
sepulchre; they
flatter with their tongue.
For
not a word they speak can be trusted; destruction lies within them. Their throats are open graves; their tongues practice
deceit.
O LORD,
rebuke me
not in thine anger, neither
chasten me in thy hot displeasure.
O LORD, do
not rebuke me in Your anger or discipline me in Your wrath.
If he turn
not, he will
whet his sword; he hath bent his bow, and made it ready.
And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, hast
not forsaken them that seek thee.
Those who know Your name trust in You, for You, O LORD, have
not forsaken those who seek You.
When he maketh
inquisition for blood, he remembereth them: he forgetteth
not the cry of the humble.
For the
needy shall
not alway be forgotten: the expectation of the poor shall
not perish for ever.
Arise, O LORD; let not man prevail: let the heathen be judged in thy sight.
Rise up, O LORD, do not let man prevail; let the nations be judged in Your presence.
The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts.
In his pride the wicked man does not seek Him; in all his schemes there is no God.
He hath said in his heart, I shall
not be moved: for I shall never be in
adversity.
He says to himself, “I will not be moved; from age to age I am free of distress.”
Arise, O LORD; O God, lift up thine hand:
forget not the humble.
Arise, O LORD! Lift up Your hand, O God! Do
not forget the helpless.
Wherefore
doth the wicked
contemn God? he hath said in his heart, Thou
wilt not require it.
Why has the wicked man
renounced God? He says to himself, “You will never call me to account.”
They are all gone aside, they are all together become
filthy: there is none that doeth good, no,
not one.
All have turned away, they have together become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one.
Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge? who eat up my people as they eat bread, and call not upon the LORD.
Will the workers of iniquity never learn? They
devour my people like bread; they refuse to call upon the LORD.
He that backbiteth not with his tongue, nor doeth evil to his neighbour, nor taketh up a reproach against his neighbour.
In whose eyes a
vile person is
contemned; but he honoureth them that fear the LORD. He that sweareth to his own
hurt, and changeth
not.
who despises the
vile but honors those who fear the LORD, who does
not revise a costly oath,
He that putteth
not out his money to
usury, nor taketh reward against the innocent. He that doeth these things shall never be moved.
who
lends his money without interest and refuses a
bribe against the innocent. He who does these things will never be
shaken.
O my soul, thou hast said unto the LORD, Thou art my Lord: my goodness extendeth not to thee;
I said to the LORD, “You are my Lord; apart from You I have no good thing.”
Their sorrows shall be multiplied that
hasten after another god: their drink offerings of blood will I
not offer, nor take up their names into my lips.
Sorrows will multiply to those who
chase other gods. I will
not pour out their libations of blood, or speak their names with my lips.
I have set the LORD always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.
I have set the LORD always before me. Because He is at my right hand, I will
not be
shaken.
For thou
wilt not leave my soul in
hell; neither
wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.
For You will
not abandon my soul to
Sheol, nor will You let Your Holy One see decay.
Hear the right, O LORD, attend unto my cry, give ear unto my prayer, that goeth
not out of
feigned lips.
Hear, O LORD, my righteous
plea;
listen to my cry. Give ear to my prayer— it comes from lips free of
deceit.
Thou hast proved mine heart; thou hast visited me in the night; thou hast tried me, and shalt find
nothing; I am purposed that my mouth shall
not transgress.
You have tried my heart; You have visited me in the night. You have tested me and found no evil; I have resolved not to sin with my mouth.
Hold up my goings in thy paths, that my footsteps slip not.
My steps have held to Your paths; my feet have
not slipped.
For I have kept the ways of the LORD, and have not wickedly departed from my God.
For I have kept the ways of the LORD and have not wickedly departed from my God.
For all his judgments were before me, and I did not put away his statutes from me.
For all His ordinances are before me; I have not disregarded His statutes.
Thou hast enlarged my steps under me, that my feet did not slip.
You
broaden the path beneath me so that my ankles do
not give way.
I have pursued mine enemies, and overtaken them: neither did I turn again till they were consumed.
I pursued my enemies and overtook them; I did not turn back until they were consumed.
I have wounded them that they were not able to rise: they are fallen under my feet.
I
crushed them so they could
not rise; they have fallen under my feet.
They
cried, but there was none to save them: even unto the LORD, but he answered them
not.
They
cried for help, but there was no one to save them— to the LORD, but He did
not answer.
Thou hast delivered me from the strivings of the people; and thou hast made me the head of the heathen: a people whom I have not known shall serve me.
You have delivered me from the
strife of the people; You have made me the head of nations; a people I had
not known shall serve me.
There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard.
Without speech or language, without a sound to be heard,
His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit unto the ends of it: and there is
nothing hid from the heat thereof.
it rises at one end of the heavens and runs its circuit to the other;
nothing is deprived of its
warmth.
Keep back thy servant also from
presumptuous sins; let them
not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great
transgression.
Thou hast given him his heart’s desire, and hast
not withholden the request of his lips.
Selah.
You have granted his heart’s desire and have
not withheld the request of his lips.
Selah For the king trusteth in the LORD, and through the mercy of the most High he shall not be moved.
For the king trusts in the LORD; through the loving devotion of the Most High, he will
not be
shaken.
For they intended evil against thee: they imagined a
mischievous device, which they are
not able to perform.
Though they intend You
harm, the schemes they
devise will
not prevail.
O my God, I cry in the
daytime, but thou hearest
not; and in the night season, and am
not silent.
I cry out by day, O my God, but You do not answer, and by night, but I have no rest.
They
cried unto thee, and were delivered: they trusted in thee, and were
not confounded.
They
cried out to You and were set free; they trusted in You and were
not disappointed.
But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and
despised of the people.
Be not far from me; for trouble is near; for there is none to help.
Be not far from me, for trouble is near and there is no one to help.
But be
not thou far from me, O LORD: O my strength,
haste thee to help me.
But You, O LORD, be not far off; O my Strength, come quickly to help me.
The LORD is my
shepherd; I shall
not want.
The LORD is my
shepherd; I shall
not want.
He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath
not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor
sworn deceitfully.
He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does
not lift up his soul to an
idol or
swear deceitfully.
O my God, I trust in thee: let me
not be
ashamed, let
not mine enemies triumph over me.
in You, my God, I trust. Do
not let me be put to shame; do
not let my enemies
exult over me.
Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions: according to thy mercy remember thou me for thy goodness’ sake, O LORD.
Remember
not the sins of my youth, nor my
rebellious acts; remember me according to Your loving devotion, because of Your goodness, O LORD.
O keep my soul, and deliver me: let me
not be
ashamed; for I put my trust in thee.
Guard my soul and deliver me; let me not be put to shame, for I take refuge in You.
Judge me, O LORD; for I have walked in mine
integrity: I have trusted also in the LORD; therefore I shall
not slide.
I have not sat with vain persons, neither will I go in with dissemblers.
I do
not sit with
deceitful men, nor keep company with hypocrites.
I have
hated the congregation of evildoers; and will
not sit with the wicked.
I
hate the
mob of evildoers, and refuse to sit with the wicked.
Gather
not my soul with sinners, nor my life with
bloody men:
Do
not take my soul away with sinners, or my life with men of
bloodshed,
Though an host should
encamp against me, my heart shall
not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be
confident.
Though an army encamps around me, my heart will not fear; though a war breaks out against me, I will keep my trust.
Hide
not thy face far from me; put
not thy servant away in anger: thou hast been my help; leave me
not, neither
forsake me, O God of my salvation.
Hide
not Your face from me, nor turn away Your servant in anger. You have been my helper; do
not leave me or
forsake me, O God of my salvation.
Deliver me
not over unto the will of mine enemies: for false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as
breathe out cruelty.
Do not hand me over to the will of my foes, for false witnesses rise up against me, breathing out violence.
Unto thee will I cry, O LORD my rock; be not silent to me: lest, if thou be silent to me, I become like them that go down into the pit.
To You, O LORD, I call; be
not deaf to me, O my Rock. For if You remain silent, I will be like those descending to the Pit.
Draw me not away with the wicked, and with the workers of iniquity, which speak peace to their neighbours, but mischief is in their hearts.
Do
not drag me away with the wicked, and with the workers of iniquity, who speak peace to their neighbors while
malice is in their hearts.
Because they regard not the works of the LORD, nor the operation of his hands, he shall destroy them, and not build them up.
Since they show no regard for the works of the LORD or what His hands have done, He will
tear them down and never rebuild them.
I will
extol thee, O LORD; for thou hast lifted me up, and hast
not made my foes to
rejoice over me.
I will
exalt You, O LORD, for You have lifted me up and have
not allowed my foes to
rejoice over me.
O LORD, thou hast brought up my soul from the grave: thou hast kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit.
O LORD, You pulled me up from
Sheol; You
spared me from descending into the Pit.
To the end that my glory may sing praise to thee, and
not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give
thanks unto thee for ever.
that my heart may sing Your praises and
not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give
thanks forever.
And hast not shut me up into the hand of the enemy: thou hast set my feet in a large room.
You have not delivered me to the enemy; You have set my feet in the open.
Let me
not be
ashamed, O LORD; for I have called upon thee: let the wicked be
ashamed, and let them be silent in the grave.
O LORD, let me
not be
ashamed, for I have called on You. Let the wicked be put to shame; let them lie silent in
Sheol.
Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD imputeth
not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no
guile.
Blessed is the man whose iniquity the LORD does
not count against him, in whose spirit there is no
deceit.
I acknowledged my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I
not hid. I said, I will
confess my transgressions unto the LORD; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin.
Selah.
Then I acknowledged my sin to You and did
not hide my iniquity. I said, “I will
confess my transgressions to the LORD,” and You
forgave the guilt of my sin.
Selah For this shall every one that is godly pray unto thee in a time when thou mayest be found: surely in the floods of great waters they shall
not come
nigh unto him.
Therefore let all the godly pray to You while You may be found. Surely when great waters rise, they will not come near.
Be ye
not as the horse, or as the
mule, which have no understanding: whose mouth must be held in with
bit and
bridle, lest they come near unto thee.
Do
not be like the horse or
mule, which have no understanding; they must be
controlled with
bit and
bridle to make them come to you.
There is no king saved by the multitude of an host: a mighty man is not delivered by much strength.
No king is saved by his vast army; no
warrior is delivered by his great strength.
Those who look to Him are
radiant with joy; their faces shall never be
ashamed.
O fear the LORD, ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him.
Fear the LORD, you His saints, for those who fear Him lack nothing.
The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing.
Young lions go lacking and
hungry, but those who seek the LORD lack no good thing.
He keepeth all his bones: not one of them is broken.
He protects all his bones; not one of them will be broken.
False witnesses did rise up; they laid to my charge things that I knew not.
Hostile witnesses come forward; they make charges I know nothing about.
But in mine
adversity they
rejoiced, and gathered themselves together:
yea, the abjects gathered themselves together against me, and I knew it
not; they did
tear me, and ceased
not:
But when I
stumbled, they assembled in
glee; they gathered together against me. Assailants I did
not know
slandered me without ceasing.
Let
not them that are mine enemies
wrongfully rejoice over me: neither let them
wink with the eye that
hate me without a cause.
Let
not my enemies
gloat over me without cause, nor those who
hate me without reason
wink in
malice.
For they speak
not peace: but they
devise deceitful matters against them that are quiet in the land.
For they do
not speak peace, but they
devise deceitful schemes against those who live quietly in the land.
This thou hast seen, O LORD: keep not silence: O Lord, be not far from me.
O LORD, You have seen it; be not silent. O Lord, be not far from me.
Judge me, O LORD my God, according to thy righteousness; and let them
not rejoice over me.
Vindicate me by Your righteousness, O LORD my God, and do
not let them
gloat over me.
Let them
not say in their hearts,
Ah, so would we have it: let them
not say, We have
swallowed him up.
Let them
not say in their hearts, “
Aha, just what we wanted!” Let them
not say, “We have
swallowed him up!”
He deviseth mischief upon his bed; he setteth himself in a way that is not good; he abhorreth not evil.
Even on his bed he plots wickedness; he sets himself on a path that is
not good; he fails to
reject evil.
Let not the foot of pride come against me, and let not the hand of the wicked remove me.
Let not the foot of the proud come against me, nor the hand of the wicked drive me away.
There are the workers of iniquity fallen: they are cast down, and shall not be able to rise.
There the evildoers lie fallen, thrown down and unable to rise.
Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou
envious against the workers of iniquity.
Do
not fret over those who do evil; do
not envy those who do wrong.
Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him:
fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.
Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for Him; do
not fret when men
prosper in their ways, when they carry out wicked schemes.
For yet a little while, and the wicked shall
not be:
yea, thou shalt
diligently consider his place, and it shall
not be.
Yet a little while, and the wicked will be no more; though you look for them, they will not be found.
They shall
not be
ashamed in the evil time: and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied.
In the time of evil they will
not be
ashamed, and in the days of famine they will be satisfied.
The wicked borroweth, and payeth not again: but the righteous sheweth mercy, and giveth.
The wicked
borrow and do
not repay, but the righteous are
gracious and giving.
