To wit, Jerusalem, and the cities of Judah, and the kings thereof, and the princes thereof, to make them a
desolation, an
astonishment, an
hissing, and a
curse; as it is this day;
to make them a ruin, an object of
horror and contempt and
cursing, as they are to this day—Jerusalem and the cities of Judah, its kings and
officials;
Pharaoh king of Egypt, and his servants, and his princes, and all his people;
Pharaoh king of Egypt, his officials, his leaders, and all his people;
When the princes of Judah heard these things, then they came up from the king’s house unto the house of the LORD, and sat down in the entry of the new gate of the LORD’S house.

Then spake the priests and the prophets unto the princes and to all the people, saying, This man is worthy to die; for he hath

prophesied against this city, as you have heard with your own ears!”

Because of all the evil of the children of Israel and of the children of Judah, which they have done to
provoke me to anger, they, their kings, their princes, their priests, and their prophets, and the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
because of all the evil the children of Israel and of Judah have done to
provoke Me to anger—they, their kings, their
officials, their priests and prophets, the men of Judah, and the residents of Jerusalem.
Now when all the princes, and all the people, which had entered into the covenant, heard that every one should let his
manservant, and every one his
maidservant, go free, that none should serve themselves of them any more, then they obeyed, and let them go.
So all the
officials and all the people who entered into this covenant agreed that they would free their menservants and maidservants and no longer hold them in
bondage. They obeyed and released them,
The princes of Judah, and the princes of Jerusalem, the eunuchs, and the priests, and all the people of the land, which passed between the parts of the

And
Zedekiah king of Judah and his princes will I give into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of them that seek their life, and into the hand of the king of Babylon’s army, which are gone up from you.
And I will deliver
Zedekiah king of Judah and his
officials into the hands of their enemies who seek their lives, to the army of the king of Babylon that had withdrawn from you.
And I brought them into the house of the LORD, into the chamber of the sons of Hanan, the son of Igdaliah, a man of God, which was by the chamber of the princes, which was above the chamber of Maaseiah the son of Shallum, the keeper of the door:
and I brought them into the house of the LORD, to a chamber occupied by the sons of Hanan son of Igdaliah, a man of God. This room was near the chamber of the

Zedekiah the son of Hananiah, and all the princes.

Therefore all the princes sent Jehudi the son of Nethaniah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Cushi, unto
Baruch, saying, Take in thine hand the roll wherein thou hast read in the ears of the people, and come. So
Baruch the son of Neriah took the roll in his hand, and came unto them.
Then all the
officials sent word to
Baruch through Jehudi son of Nethaniah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Cushi, saying, “Bring the
scroll that you read in the hearing of the people, and come here.” So
Baruch son of Neriah took the
scroll and went to them.
Then said the princes unto
Baruch, Go, hide thee, thou and Jeremiah; and let no man know where ye be.
Then the
officials said to
Baruch, “You and Jeremiah must hide
yourselves and tell no one where you are.”
And they went in to the king into the court, but they laid up the roll in the chamber of Elishama the
scribe, and told all the words in the ears of the king.
So the
officials went to the king in the
courtyard. And having stored the
scroll in the chamber of Elishama the
scribe, they reported everything to the king.
So the king sent Jehudi to
fetch the roll: and he took it out of Elishama the
scribe’s chamber. And Jehudi read it in the ears of the king, and in the ears of all the princes which stood beside the king.

listen to him; instead, he arrested Jeremiah and took him to the

wroth with Jeremiah, and
smote him, and put him in prison in the house of

beseech thee, let this man be put to death: for thus he weakeneth the hands of the men of war that remain in this city, and the hands of all the people, in speaking such words unto them: for this man seeketh not the
welfare of this people, but the
hurt.

mire, and they are turned away back.
All the women who remain in the palace of the king of Judah will be brought out to the
officials of the king of Babylon, and those women will say: ‘They misled you and overcame you— those trusted friends of yours. Your feet
sank into the
mire, and they deserted you.’
But if the princes hear that I have talked with thee, and they come unto thee, and say unto thee, Declare unto us now what thou hast said unto the king, hide it not from us, and we will not put thee to death; also what the king said unto thee:
If the officials hear that I have spoken with you, and they come and demand of you, ‘Tell us what you said to the king and what he said to you; do not hide it from us, or we will kill you,’
Then came all the princes unto Jeremiah, and asked him: and he told them according to all these words that the king had commanded. So they left off speaking with him; for the matter was not perceived.
When all the officials came to Jeremiah and questioned him, he relayed to them the exact words the king had commanded him to say. So they said no more to him, for no one had overheard the conversation.

Then took Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces that were with him, all the
remnant of the people whom he had recovered from
Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, from
Mizpah, after that he had slain Gedaliah the son of
Ahikam, even mighty men of war, and the women, and the children, and the eunuchs, whom he had brought again from
Gibeon:
Then Johanan son of Kareah and all the commanders of the armies with him took the whole
remnant of the people from

officials he had brought back from
Gibeon.
But we will certainly do
whatsoever thing goeth forth out of our own mouth, to burn incense unto the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, as we have done, we, and our fathers, our kings, and our princes, in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem: for then had we
plenty of
victuals, and were well, and saw no evil.
Instead, we will do everything we
vowed to do: We will burn incense to the Queen of Heaven and offer drink offerings to her, just as we, our fathers, our kings, and our
officials did in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem. At that time we had
plenty of food and good things, and we saw no
disaster.
The incense that ye burned in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, ye, and your fathers, your kings, and your princes, and the people of the land, did not the LORD remember them, and came it not into his mind?
“As for the incense you burned in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem—you, your fathers, your kings, your officials, and the people of the land—did the LORD not remember and bring this to mind?
For because thou hast trusted in thy works and in thy treasures, thou shalt also be taken: and
Chemosh shall go forth into captivity with his priests and his princes together.
Because you trust in your works and treasures, you too will be captured, and
Chemosh will go into exile with his priests and
officials.
Howl, O
Heshbon, for
Ai is
spoiled: cry, ye daughters of Rabbah,
gird you with
sackcloth;
lament, and run to and
fro by the hedges; for their king shall go into captivity, and his priests and his princes together.
Wail, O
Heshbon, for
Ai has been destroyed; cry out, O daughters of Rabbah! Put on
sackcloth and
mourn; run back and forth within your walls, for Milcom will go into exile together with his priests and
officials.
And I will set my throne in
Elam, and will destroy from thence the king and the princes, saith the LORD.

officials,” declares the LORD.

shepherd and his flock; and with thee will I break in pieces the
husbandman and his yoke of oxen; and with thee will I break in pieces captains and rulers.
Prepare against her the nations with the kings of the Medes, the captains thereof, and all the rulers thereof, and all the land of his dominion.
Prepare the nations for battle against her— the kings of the Medes, their governors and all their officials, and all the lands they rule.
And I will make
drunk her princes, and her wise men, her captains, and her rulers, and her mighty men: and they shall sleep a perpetual sleep, and not
wake, saith the King, whose name is the LORD of hosts.
I will make her princes and wise men
drunk, along with her governors,
officials, and warriors. Then they will fall
asleep forever and not
wake up,” declares the King, whose name is the LORD of Hosts.
And the king of Babylon
slew the sons of
Zedekiah before his eyes: he
slew also all the princes of Judah in Riblah.
There at Riblah the king of Babylon slaughtered the sons of
Zedekiah before his eyes, and he also killed all the
officials of Judah.
He took also out of the city an
eunuch, which had the charge of the men of war; and seven men of them that were near the king’s person, which were found in the city; and the principal
scribe of the host, who
mustered the people of the land; and
threescore men of the people of the land, that were found in the midst of the city.
Of those still in the city, he took a court
official who had been appointed over the men of war, as well as seven trusted royal advisers. He also took the
scribe of the captain of the army, who had
enlisted the people of the land, and sixty men who were found in the city.
Say now to the
rebellious house, Know ye not what these things mean? tell them, Behold, the king of Babylon is come to Jerusalem, and hath taken the king thereof, and the princes thereof, and led them with him to Babylon;
“Now say to this
rebellious house: ‘Do you not know what these things mean?’ Tell them, ‘Behold, the king of Babylon came to Jerusalem, carried off its king and
officials, and brought them back with him to Babylon.

wolves ravening the prey, to shed blood, and to destroy souls, to get
dishonest gain.

Unto whom the prince of the eunuchs gave names: for he gave unto Daniel the name of Belteshazzar; and to Hananiah, of
Shadrach; and to Mishael, of Meshach; and to
Azariah, of
Abed-nego.
The chief
official gave them new names: To Daniel he gave the name Belteshazzar; to Hananiah,
Shadrach; to Mishael, Meshach; and to
Azariah,
Abednego.
But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not
defile himself with the portion of the king’s meat, nor with the wine which he
drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not
defile himself.
But Daniel made up his mind that he would not
defile himself with the king’s food or wine. So he asked the chief
official for permission not to
defile himself.
Now God had brought Daniel into favour and tender love with the prince of the eunuchs.
Now God had granted Daniel favor and
compassion from the chief
official,
Then said Daniel to Melzar, whom the prince of the eunuchs had set over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and
Azariah,
Then Daniel said to the
steward whom the chief
official had appointed over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and
Azariah,
Now at the end of the days that the king had said he should bring them in, then the prince of the eunuchs brought them in before
Nebuchadnezzar.
Now at the end of the time specified by the king, the chief
official presented them to
Nebuchadnezzar.
Then
Nebuchadnezzar the king sent to gather together the princes, the governors, and the captains, the judges, the treasurers, the counsellors, the sheriffs, and all the rulers of the provinces, to come to the
dedication of the image which
Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up.
Then King
Nebuchadnezzar sent word to
assemble the satraps, prefects, governors, advisers, treasurers, judges, magistrates, and all the other
officials of the provinces to attend the
dedication of the statue he had set up.

slay all the princes thereof with him, saith the LORD.

Cana in
Galilee, where He had turned the water into wine. And there was a royal
official whose son lay sick at
Capernaum.
The
nobleman saith unto him, Sir, come down
ere my child die.
“Sir,” the official said, “come down before my child dies.”
And he arose and went: and, behold, a man of
Ethiopia, an
eunuch of great authority under
Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her
treasure, and had come to Jerusalem for to worship,
So he started out, and on his way he met an
Ethiopian eunuch, a court
official in charge of the entire treasury of
Candace, queen of the Ethiopians. He had gone to Jerusalem to worship,
And when they found them not, they drew
Jason and certain brethren unto the rulers of the city, crying, These that have turned the world
upside down are come
hither also;
But when they could not find them, they
dragged Jason and some other brothers before the city
officials,
shouting, “These men who have turned the world
upside down have now come here,

And certain of the chief of Asia, which were his friends, sent unto him, desiring him that he would not
adventure himself into the theatre.

officials of the province of Asia sent word to him,
begging him not to
venture into the theatre.
In the same quarters were possessions of the chief man of the island, whose name was
Publius; who received us, and
lodged us three days
courteously.
Nearby stood an estate belonging to
Publius, the chief
official of the island. He
welcomed us and entertained us
hospitably for three days.
