Then came he unto the gate which looketh toward the east, and went up the stairs thereof, and measured the
threshold of the gate, which was one reed broad; and the
other threshold of the gate, which was one reed broad.
Then he came to the gate facing east and
climbed its steps. He measured the
threshold of the gate to be one rod deep.
After that he brought me toward the south, and behold a gate toward the south: and he measured the posts thereof and the arches thereof according to these measures.
Then he led me to the south side, and I saw a
gateway facing south. He measured its side pillars and
portico, and they had the same measurements as the
others.
And there were windows in it and in the arches thereof round about, like those windows: the length was fifty cubits, and the breadth five and twenty cubits.
Both the
gateway and its
portico had windows all around, like the
other windows. It was fifty cubits long and twenty-five cubits wide.
And he brought me to the inner court by the south gate: and he measured the south gate according to these measures;
Next he brought me into the inner court through the south gate, and he measured the south gate; it had the same measurements as the others.
And the little chambers thereof, and the posts thereof, and the arches thereof, according to these measures: and there were windows in it and in the arches thereof round about: it was fifty cubits long, and five and twenty cubits broad.
Its gate chambers, side pillars, and
portico had the same measurements as the
others. Both the
gateway and its
portico had windows all around; it was fifty cubits long and twenty-five cubits wide.
And he brought me into the inner court toward the east: and he measured the gate according to these measures.
And he brought me to the inner court on the east side, and he measured the
gateway; it had the same measurements as the
others.
And the little chambers thereof, and the posts thereof, and the arches thereof, were according to these measures: and there were windows therein and in the arches thereof round about: it was fifty cubits long, and five and twenty cubits broad.

And he brought me to the north gate, and measured it according to these measures;
Then he brought me to the north gate and measured it. It had the same measurements as the others,
And at the side without, as one goeth up to the entry of the north gate, were two tables; and on the
other side, which was at the
porch of the gate, were two tables.
Outside, as one goes up to the entrance of the north
gateway, there were two tables on one side and two more tables on the
other side of the gate’s
portico.
And the four tables were of
hewn stone for the burnt offering, of a
cubit and an half long, and a
cubit and an half broad, and one
cubit high:
whereupon also they laid the instruments
wherewith they
slew the burnt offering and the sacrifice.
There were also four tables of dressed stone for the burnt offering, each a
cubit and a half long, a
cubit and a half wide, and a
cubit high. On these were placed the utensils used to slaughter the burnt offerings and the
other sacrifices.
Afterward he brought me to the temple, and measured the posts, six cubits broad on the one side, and six cubits broad on the other side, which was the breadth of the tabernacle.
Then the man brought me into the outer sanctuary and measured the side pillars to be six cubits wide on each side.

And he measured the length of the building over against the separate place which was behind it, and the
galleries thereof on the one side and on the
other side, an hundred cubits, with the inner temple, and the porches of the court;
Next he measured the length of the building facing the temple
courtyard at the rear of the temple, including its
galleries on each side; it was a hundred cubits. The outer sanctuary, the inner sanctuary, and the
porticoes facing the court,
So that the face of a man was toward the palm tree on the one side, and the face of a young lion toward the palm tree on the other side: it was made through all the house round about.
the face of a man was toward the palm tree on one side, and the face of a young lion was toward the palm tree on the other side. They were carved all the way around the temple.
The posts of the temple were squared, and the face of the sanctuary; the appearance of the one as the appearance of the other.
The outer sanctuary had a rectangular doorframe, and the doorframe of the sanctuary was similar.
And the doors had two leaves
apiece, two turning leaves; two leaves for the one door, and two leaves for the
other door.
and each door had two
swinging panels. There were two panels for one door and two for the
other.
And there were narrow windows and palm trees on the one side and on the
other side, on the sides of the
porch, and upon the side chambers of the house, and thick planks.
There were
beveled windows and palm trees on the sidewalls of the
portico. The side rooms of the temple also had
canopies.
When the priests enter therein, then shall they not go out of the holy place into the utter court, but there they shall lay their garments wherein they minister; for they are holy; and shall put on other garments, and shall approach to those things which are for the people.
Once the priests have entered the holy area, they must not go out into the outer court until they have left behind the garments in which they minister, for these are holy. They are to put on other clothes before they approach the places that are for the people.”
In that ye have brought into my sanctuary strangers,
uncircumcised in heart, and
uncircumcised in flesh, to be in my sanctuary, to
pollute it, even my house, when ye offer my bread, the fat and the blood, and they have broken my covenant because of all your abominations.
In addition to all your
other abominations, you brought in foreigners
uncircumcised in both heart and flesh to occupy My sanctuary; you
defiled My temple when you offered My food—the fat and the blood; you broke My covenant.
And ye have not kept the charge of mine holy things: but ye have set keepers of my charge in my sanctuary for
yourselves.
And you have not kept charge of My holy things, but have appointed others to keep charge of My sanctuary for you.’
Yet they shall be ministers in my sanctuary, having charge at the gates of the house, and ministering to the house: they shall
slay the burnt offering and the sacrifice for the people, and they shall stand before them to minister unto them.
Yet they shall be ministers in My sanctuary, having charge of the gates of the temple and ministering there. They shall slaughter the burnt offerings and other sacrifices for the people and stand before them to minister to them.
And when they go forth into the utter court, even into the utter court to the people, they shall put off their garments wherein they ministered, and lay them in the holy chambers, and they shall put on
other garments; and they shall not
sanctify the people with their garments.
When they go out to the outer court, to the people, they are to take off the garments in which they have ministered, leave them in the holy chambers, and dress in
other clothes so that they do not
transmit holiness to the people with their garments.
And a portion shall be for the prince on the one side and on the
other side of the
oblation of the holy portion, and of the possession of the city, before the
oblation of the holy portion, and before the possession of the city, from the west side westward, and from the east side eastward: and the length shall be over against one of the portions, from the west border unto the east border.
Now the prince will have the area bordering each side of the area formed by the holy district and the property of the city, extending westward from the western side and eastward from the eastern side, running
lengthwise from the western boundary to the eastern boundary and parallel to one of the
tribal portions.
Now when I had returned, behold, at the bank of the river were very many trees on the one side and on the other.
When I arrived, I saw a great number of trees along both banks of the river.
And by the border of Judah, from the east side unto the west side, shall be the offering which ye shall offer of five and twenty thousand reeds in breadth, and in length as one of the other parts, from the east side unto the west side: and the sanctuary shall be in the midst of it.
Bordering the territory of Judah, from east to west, will be the portion you are to set apart. It will be 25,000 cubits wide, and the length of a
tribal portion from east to west. In the center will be the sanctuary.
And the residue shall be for the prince, on the one side and on the
other of the holy
oblation, and of the possession of the city, over against the five and twenty thousand of the
oblation toward the east border, and westward over against the five and twenty thousand toward the west border, over against the portions for the prince: and it shall be the holy
oblation; and the sanctuary of the house shall be in the midst thereof.
The remaining area on both sides of the holy portion and of the property of the city will belong to the prince. He will own the land adjacent to the
tribal portions, extending eastward from the 25,000 cubits of the holy district toward the eastern border, and westward from the 25,000 cubits to the western border. And in the center of them will be the holy portion and the sanctuary of the temple.
And the prince of the eunuchs said unto Daniel, I fear my lord the king, who hath appointed your meat and your drink: for why should he see your faces worse liking than the children which are of your sort? then shall ye make me
endanger my head to the king.
but he said to Daniel, “I fear my lord the king, who has assigned your food and drink. For why should he see your faces looking
thinner than those of the
other young men your age? You would
endanger my head before the king!”
And it is a rare thing that the king requireth, and there is none
other that can
shew it before the king, except the gods, whose dwelling is not with flesh.
What the king requests is so difficult that no one can tell it to him except the gods, whose dwelling is not with mortals.”
And the fourth kingdom shall be strong as iron:
forasmuch as iron breaketh in pieces and subdueth all things: and as iron that breaketh all these, shall it break in pieces and
bruise.
Finally, there will be a fourth kingdom as strong as iron; for iron
shatters and crushes all things, and like iron that crushes all things, it will
shatter and
crush all the
others.
And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to
other people, but it shall break in pieces and
consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.
In the days of those kings, the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed, nor will it be left to another people. It will
shatter all these kingdoms and bring them to an end, but will itself stand
forever.
Then
Nebuchadnezzar the king sent to gather together the princes, the governors, and the captains, the judges, the treasurers, the counsellors, the sheriffs, and all the rulers of the provinces, to come to the
dedication of the image which
Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up.
Then King
Nebuchadnezzar sent word to
assemble the satraps, prefects, governors, advisers, treasurers, judges, magistrates, and all the
other officials of the provinces to attend the
dedication of the statue he had set up.
Then these men were bound in their coats, their
hosen, and their hats, and their
other garments, and were cast into the midst of the burning
fiery furnace.
So they were
tied up, wearing robes,
trousers, turbans, and
other clothes, and they were thrown into the
blazing fiery furnace.
Therefore I make a decree, That every people, nation, and language, which speak any thing
amiss against the God of
Shadrach, Meshach, and
Abed-nego, shall be cut in pieces, and their houses shall be made a
dunghill: because there is no
other God that can deliver after this sort.
Therefore I decree that the people of any nation or language who say anything offensive against the God of
Shadrach, Meshach, and
Abednego will be cut into pieces and their houses reduced to
rubble. For there is no
other god who can deliver in this way.”
And four great beasts came up from the sea,
diverse one from another.
Then four great beasts came up out of the sea, each one different from the others:
Then I would know the truth of the fourth beast, which was
diverse from all the
others, exceeding
dreadful, whose teeth were of iron, and his
nails of brass; which
devoured,
brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with his feet;
Then I wanted to know the true meaning of the fourth beast, which was different from all the
others—extremely
terrifying—
devouring and
crushing with iron teeth and bronze claws, then
trampling underfoot whatever was left.
And of the ten horns that were in his head, and of the
other which came up, and before whom three fell; even of that horn that had eyes, and a mouth that spake very great things, whose look was more
stout than his fellows.
I also wanted to know about the ten horns on its head and the
other horn that came up, before which three of them fell—the horn whose appearance was more imposing than the
others, with eyes and with a mouth that spoke words of
arrogance.
Thus he said, The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be
diverse from all kingdoms, and shall
devour the whole earth, and shall
tread it down, and break it in pieces.
This is what he said: ‘The fourth beast is a fourth kingdom that will appear on the earth, different from all the
other kingdoms, and it will
devour the whole earth,
trample it down, and
crush it.
Then I lifted up mine eyes, and saw, and, behold, there stood before the river a ram which had two horns: and the two horns were high; but one was higher than the other, and the higher came up last.
Then I lifted up my eyes and saw a ram with two horns standing beside the canal. The horns were long, but one was longer than the other, and the longer one grew up later.
And now will I
shew thee the truth. Behold, there shall stand up yet three kings in Persia; and the fourth shall be far richer than they all: and by his strength through his riches he shall
stir up all against the realm of
Grecia.
Now then, I will tell you the truth: Three more kings will arise in Persia, and then a fourth, who will be far richer than all the
others. By the power of his wealth, he will
stir up
everyone against the kingdom of Greece.
And when he shall stand up, his kingdom shall be broken, and shall be divided toward the four winds of heaven; and not to his
posterity, nor according to his dominion which he ruled: for his kingdom shall be
plucked up, even for
others beside those.
But as soon as he is established, his kingdom will be broken up and
parceled out toward the four winds of heaven. It will not go to his descendants, nor will it have the authority with which he ruled, because his kingdom will be uprooted and given to
others.
Neither shall he regard the God of his fathers, nor the desire of women, nor regard any god: for he shall
magnify himself above all.
He will show no regard for the gods of his fathers, nor for the one desired by women, nor for any
other god, because he will
magnify himself above them all.
And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall
awake, some to
everlasting life, and some to shame and
everlasting contempt.
Then I Daniel looked, and, behold, there stood other two, the one on this side of the bank of the river, and the other on that side of the bank of the river.
Then I, Daniel, looked and saw two others standing there, one on this bank of the river and one on the opposite bank.
Lest I strip her naked, and set her as in the day that she was born, and make her as a wilderness, and set her like a dry land, and
slay her with
thirst.
Otherwise, I will strip her naked and
expose her like the day of her birth. I will make her like a desert and turn her into a
parched land, and I will let her die of
thirst.
Then said the LORD unto me, Go yet, love a woman beloved of her friend, yet an
adulteress, according to the love of the LORD toward the children of Israel, who look to
other gods, and love flagons of wine.
Then the LORD said to me, “Go show love to your wife again, though she is loved by another and is an
adulteress. Love her as the LORD loves the Israelites, though they turn to
other gods and offer
raisin cakes to idols.”
Rejoice not, O Israel, for joy, as
other people: for thou hast gone a
whoring from thy God, thou hast loved a reward upon every
cornfloor.
I will be thy king: where is any other that may save thee in all thy cities? and thy judges of whom thou saidst, Give me a king and princes?
Where is your king now to save you in all your cities, and the rulers to whom you said, “Give me a king and princes”?
And ye shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am the LORD your God, and none else: and my people shall never be
ashamed.
Then you will know that I am present in Israel and that I am the LORD your God, and there is no other. My people will never again be put to shame.
In the day that thou stoodest on the
other side, in the day that the strangers carried away
captive his forces, and foreigners entered into his gates, and cast lots upon Jerusalem, even thou
wast as one of them.
On the day you stood
aloof while strangers carried off his wealth and foreigners entered his gate and cast lots for Jerusalem, you were just like one of them.
If one bear holy flesh in the
skirt of his garment, and with his
skirt do touch bread, or
pottage, or wine, or oil, or any meat, shall it be holy? And the priests answered and said, No.
If a man carries consecrated meat in the fold of his garment, and it touches bread,
stew, wine, oil, or any
other food, does that
item become holy?’” “No,” replied the priests.
And two olive trees by it, one upon the right side of the
bowl, and the
other upon the left side thereof.
There are also two olive trees beside it, one on the right side of the
bowl and the
other on its left.”
Then said he unto me, This is the
curse that goeth forth over the face of the whole earth: for every one that stealeth shall be cut off as on this side according to it; and every one that sweareth shall be cut off as on that side according to it.
Then he told me, “This is the
curse that is going out over the face of all the land, for according to one side of the
scroll, every
thief will be removed; and according to the
other side, every
perjurer will be removed.
And I will feed the flock of slaughter, even you, O poor of the flock. And I took unto me two
staves; the one I called Beauty, and the
other I called Bands; and I fed the flock.
So I pastured the flock marked for slaughter, especially the
afflicted of the flock. Then I took for myself two staffs, calling one Favor and the
other Union, and I pastured the flock.
Then I cut
asunder mine
other staff, even Bands, that I might break the
brotherhood between Judah and Israel.
Then I cut in two my second staff called Union, breaking the
brotherhood between Judah and Israel.
And it shall be in that day, that living waters shall go out from Jerusalem; half of them toward the former sea, and half of them toward the hinder sea: in summer and in winter shall it be.
And on that day living water will flow out from Jerusalem, half of it toward the Eastern Sea and the other half toward the Western Sea, in summer and winter alike.
And it shall come to pass in that day, that a great
tumult from the LORD shall be among them; and they shall lay hold every one on the hand of his neighbour, and his hand shall rise up against the hand of his neighbour.
On that day a great
panic from the LORD will come upon them, so that each will seize the hand of another, and the hand of one will rise against the
other.
And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and
smite the earth with a
curse.
And he will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers.
Otherwise, I will come and strike the land with a
curse.”
And going on from thence, he saw
other two brethren, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father,
mending their nets; and he called them.
Going on from there, He saw two
other brothers, James son of Zebedee and his brother John. They were in a boat with their father Zebedee,
mending their nets. Jesus called them,
Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but
whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
So then,
whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches
others to do likewise will be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but
whoever practices and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
Agree with thine
adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the
adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison.
Reconcile quickly with your
adversary, while you are still on the way to court.
Otherwise, he may hand you over to the judge, and the judge may hand you over to the officer, and you may be thrown into prison.
But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but
whosoever shall
smite thee on thy right
cheek, turn to him the
other also.
But I tell you not to resist an evil person. If someone slaps you on your right
cheek, turn to him the
other also;
And if ye
salute your brethren only, what do ye more than
others? do not even the publicans so?
And if you
greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than
others? Do not even Gentiles do the same?
Take
heed that ye do not your
alms before men, to be seen of them:
otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.
“Be careful not to perform your righteous acts before men to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.
No man can serve two masters: for either he will
hate the one, and love the
other; or else he will hold to the one, and
despise the
other. Ye cannot serve God and
mammon.
No one can serve two masters: Either he will
hate the one and love the
other, or he will be devoted to the one and
despise the
other. You cannot serve both God and money.
Therefore all things
whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.
In everything, then, do to others as you would have them do to you. For this is the essence of the Law and the Prophets.
Now when Jesus saw great multitudes about him, he gave commandment to depart unto the other side.
When Jesus saw a large crowd around Him, He gave orders to cross to the other side of the sea.
And when he was come to the other side into the country of the Gergesenes, there met him two possessed with devils, coming out of the tombs, exceeding fierce, so that no man might pass by that way.
When Jesus arrived on the
other side in the region of the Gadarenes, He was met by two
demon-possessed men coming from the tombs. They were so violent that no one could pass that way.
But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft
raiment? behold, they that wear soft clothing are in kings’ houses.
Otherwise, what did you go out to see? A man dressed in fine clothes? Look, those who wear fine clothing are found in kings’ palaces.
But
whereunto shall I
liken this generation? It is like unto children sitting in the markets, and calling unto their fellows,
To what can I compare this generation? They are like children sitting in the marketplaces and calling out to others:
Then saith he to the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched it forth; and it was restored whole, like as the other.
Then Jesus said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” So he stretched it out, and it was restored to full use, just like the other.
Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation.
Then it goes and brings with it seven
other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and dwell there; and the final
plight of that man is worse than the first. So will it be with this wicked generation.”
And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and
choked them:
Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and
choked the seedlings.
But
other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an
hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold.
Still
other seed fell on good soil and produced a crop—a
hundredfold, sixtyfold, or thirtyfold.
For this people’s heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should
heal them.
For this people’s heart has grown
callous; they hardly hear with their ears, and they have closed their eyes.
Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts, and turn, and I would
heal them.’
And
straightway Jesus
constrained his disciples to get into a ship, and to go before him unto the
other side, while he sent the multitudes away.
Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go on
ahead of Him to the
other side, while He dismissed the crowds.
And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were
lame, blind,
dumb,
maimed, and many
others, and cast them down at Jesus’ feet; and he
healed them:
Large crowds came to Him, bringing the
lame, the blind, the
crippled, the
mute, and many
others, and laid them at His feet, and He
healed them.
And when his disciples were come to the other side, they had forgotten to take bread.
When they crossed to the
other side, the disciples
forgot to take bread.
And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.
They replied, “Some say John the Baptist;
others say
Elijah; and still
others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”
He saith,
Yes. And when he was come into the house, Jesus prevented him, saying, What thinkest thou, Simon? of whom do the kings of the earth take custom or tribute? of their own children, or of strangers?
“
Yes,” he answered. When Peter entered the house, Jesus
preempted him. “What do you think, Simon?” He asked. “From whom do the kings of the earth collect customs and taxes: from their own sons, or from
others?”
Peter saith unto him, Of strangers. Jesus saith unto him, Then are the children free.
“From
others,” Peter answered. “Then the sons are
exempt,” Jesus declared.
But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.
But if he will not
listen, take one or two
others along, so that ‘every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.’
For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from their mother’s
womb: and there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs of men: and there be eunuchs, which have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven’s sake. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it.
For there are eunuchs who were born that way; others were made that way by men; and still others live like eunuchs for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. The one who can accept this should accept it.”
And he went out about the third hour, and saw others standing idle in the marketplace,
About the third hour he went out and saw others standing in the marketplace doing nothing.
And about the
eleventh hour he went out, and found
others standing idle, and saith unto them, Why stand ye here all the day idle?
About the
eleventh hour he went out and found still
others standing around. ‘Why have you been standing here all day long doing nothing?’ he asked.
And he said unto her, What
wilt thou? She saith unto him, Grant that these my two sons may sit, the one on thy right hand, and the
other on the left, in thy kingdom.
“What do you want?” He inquired. She answered, “Declare that in Your kingdom one of these two sons of mine may sit at Your right hand, and the other at Your left.”
And a very great multitude spread their garments in the way; others cut down branches from the trees, and strawed them in the way.
A massive crowd spread their cloaks on the road, while others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road.
Again, he sent other servants more than the first: and they did unto them likewise.
Again, he sent other servants, more than the first group. But the tenants did the same to them.
They say unto him, He will
miserably destroy those wicked men, and will let out his
vineyard unto
other husbandmen, which shall render him the fruits in their seasons.
“He will bring those wretches to a
wretched end,” they replied, “and will rent out the
vineyard to
other tenants who will give him his share of the fruit at harvest time.”
Again, he sent forth
other servants, saying, Tell them which are
bidden, Behold, I have prepared my
dinner: my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come unto the marriage.
Again, he sent
other servants and said, ‘Tell those who have been invited that I have prepared my
dinner. My oxen and
fattened cattle have been killed, and everything is ready. Come to the
wedding banquet.’
Woe unto you,
scribes and
Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay
tithe of
mint and
anise and
cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the
other undone.
Woe to you,
scribes and
Pharisees, you hypocrites! You pay
tithes of
mint,
dill, and
cumin. But you have disregarded the weightier matters of the law: justice, mercy, and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former.
Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and
scribes: and some of them ye shall kill and
crucify; and some of them shall ye
scourge in your synagogues, and
persecute them from city to city:
Because of this, I am sending you prophets and wise men and teachers. Some of them you will kill and
crucify, and
others you will
flog in your synagogues and
persecute in town after town.
And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a
trumpet, and they shall gather together his
elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the
other.
And He will send out His angels with a loud
trumpet call, and they will gather His
elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the
other.
Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
Two men will be in the field: one will be taken and the other left.
Two women shall be
grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the
other left.

The servant who had received the five talents went at once and put them to work and gained five more.

And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more.
The servant who had received the five talents came and presented five more. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘you entrusted me with five talents. See, I have gained five more.’
He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them.
The servant who had received the two talents also came and said, ‘Master, you entrusted me with two talents. See, I have gained two more.’
