Command therefore that the
sepulchre be made sure until the third day, lest his disciples come by night, and
steal him away, and say unto the
people, He is risen from the dead: so the last error shall be worse than the first.
So give the order that the tomb be secured until the third day. Otherwise, His disciples may come and
steal Him away and tell the
people He has risen from the dead. And this last
deception would be worse than the first.”
And there went out unto him all the land of Judaea, and they of Jerusalem, and were all
baptized of him in the river of Jordan,
confessing their sins.
And they were
astonished at his doctrine: for he taught them as one that had authority, and not as the
scribes.
The
people were
astonished at His teaching, because He taught as one who had authority, and not as the
scribes.
And they were all
amazed,
insomuch that they questioned among themselves, saying, What thing is this? what new doctrine is this? for with authority commandeth he even the unclean spirits, and they do obey him.
All the
people were
amazed and began to ask one another, “What is this? A new teaching with authority! He commands even the unclean spirits, and they obey Him!”

sunset,
people brought to Jesus all who were sick and
demon-possessed,
But he went out, and began to
publish it much, and to
blaze abroad the matter,
insomuch that Jesus could no more openly enter into the city, but was without in desert places: and they came to him from every quarter.
But the man went out and openly began to
proclaim and spread the news. Consequently, Jesus could no longer enter a town in plain view, but He stayed out in solitary places. Yet
people came to Him from every quarter.
And again he entered into
Capernaum, after some days; and it was noised that he was in the house.

Capernaum. And when the

Pharisees?”

compassion on thee.
But Jesus would not allow him. “Go home to your own people,” He said, “and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and what mercy He has shown you.”
And when Jesus was passed over again by ship unto the other side, much
people gathered unto him: and he was
nigh unto the sea.
When Jesus had again crossed by boat to the other side, a large crowd gathered around Him beside the sea.
And Jesus went with him; and much
people followed him, and
thronged him.
So Jesus went with him, and a large crowd followed and pressed around Him.
And he
marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching.
And He was
amazed at their unbelief. And He went around from village to village, teaching the
people.

So they set out and preached that the
people should
repent.
And king Herod heard of him; (for his name was spread abroad:) and he said, That John the Baptist was risen from the dead, and therefore mighty works do
shew forth themselves in him.
Now King Herod heard about this, for Jesus’ name had become well known, and
people were saying, “John the Baptist has risen from the dead! That is why
miraculous powers are at work in him.”
And he said unto them, Come ye
yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat.
And He said to them, “Come with Me privately to a solitary place, and let us rest for a while.” For many people were coming and going, and they did not even have time to eat.

people saw them departing, and many knew him, and ran
afoot thither out of all cities, and outwent them, and came together unto him.

And Jesus, when he came out, saw much
people, and was moved with
compassion toward them, because they were as sheep not having a

shepherd. And He began to teach them many things.

And when he had taken the five
loaves and the two fishes, he looked up to heaven, and blessed, and
brake the
loaves, and gave them to his disciples to set before them; and the two fishes divided he among them all.

loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, Jesus spoke a blessing and broke the
loaves. Then He gave them to His disciples to set before the
people. And He divided the two fish among them all.
Immediately Jesus made His disciples get into the boat and go on
ahead of Him to
Bethsaida, while He dismissed the crowd.
And when they were come out of the ship,
straightway they knew him,
As soon as they got out of the boat, the people recognized Jesus
He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias
prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This
people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.
Jesus answered them, “Isaiah
prophesied correctly about you hypocrites, as it is written: ‘These
people honor Me with their lips, but their hearts are far from Me.
And when he had called all the
people unto him, he said unto them,
Hearken unto me every one of you, and understand:
Once again Jesus called the crowd to Him and said, “All of you,
listen to Me and understand:
And when he was entered into the house from the people, his disciples asked him concerning the parable.
After Jesus had left the crowd and gone into the house, His disciples inquired about the parable.
And they bring unto him one that was
deaf, and had an
impediment in his speech; and they
beseech him to put his hand upon him.
Some
people brought to Him a man who was
deaf and hardly able to speak, and they
begged Jesus to place His hand on him.
And were beyond measure
astonished, saying, He hath done all things well: he maketh both the
deaf to hear, and the
dumb to speak.
The
people were utterly
astonished and said, “He has done all things well! He makes even the
deaf hear and the
mute speak!”
And his disciples answered him, From whence can a man satisfy these men with bread here in the wilderness?
His disciples replied, “Where in this
desolate place could
anyone find enough bread to feed all these
people?”
And he commanded the
people to sit down on the ground: and he took the seven
loaves, and gave
thanks, and
brake, and gave to his disciples to set before them; and they did set them before the
people.
And He
instructed the crowd to sit down on the ground. Then He took the seven
loaves, gave
thanks and broke them, and gave them to His disciples to set before the
people. And they distributed them to the crowd.
So they did eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets.
The
people ate and were satisfied, and the disciples
picked up seven
basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over.
And he cometh to
Bethsaida; and they bring a blind man unto him, and
besought him to touch him.
When they arrived at
Bethsaida, some
people brought a blind man and
begged Jesus to touch him.
And he looked up, and said, I see men as trees, walking.
The man looked up and said, “I can see the people, but they look like trees walking around.”
And Jesus went out, and his disciples, into the towns of Caesarea
Philippi: and by the way he asked his disciples, saying unto them, Whom do men say that I am?
Then Jesus and His disciples went on to the villages around Caesarea
Philippi. On the way, He questioned His disciples: “Who do
people say I am?”
And when he had called the
people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them,
Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
Then Jesus called the crowd to Him along with His disciples, and He told them, “If
anyone wants to come after Me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow Me.
As soon as all the
people saw Jesus, they were filled with
awe and ran to
greet Him.
When Jesus saw that the
people came running together, he
rebuked the foul spirit, saying unto him, Thou
dumb and
deaf spirit, I charge thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him.
When Jesus saw that a crowd had come running, He
rebuked the unclean spirit. “You
deaf and
mute spirit,” He said, “I command you to come out and never enter him again.”
And he arose from thence, and cometh into the coasts of Judaea by the farther side of Jordan: and the
people resort unto him again; and, as he was
wont, he taught them again.
Then Jesus left that place and went into the region of
Judea, beyond the Jordan. Again the crowds came to Him and He taught them, as was His custom.
And they brought young children to him, that he should touch them: and his disciples
rebuked those that brought them.
Now
people were bringing the little children to Jesus for Him to place His hands on them, and the disciples
rebuked those who brought them.
And they came to
Jericho: and as he went out of
Jericho with his disciples and a great number of
people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the
highway side
begging.
Next, they came to
Jericho. And as Jesus and His disciples were leaving
Jericho with a large crowd, a blind
beggar named Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, was sitting beside the road.
And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he
cried the more a great deal, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me.
Many
people admonished him to be silent, but he
cried out all the louder, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”
And they said unto them even as Jesus had commanded: and they let them go.
The disciples answered as Jesus had
instructed them, and the
people gave them permission.
And the
scribes and chief priests heard it, and sought how they might destroy him: for they feared him, because all the
people was
astonished at his doctrine.
When the chief priests and
scribes heard this, they looked for a way to kill Him. For they were afraid of Him, because the whole crowd was
astonished at His teaching.
But if we shall say, Of men; they feared the people: for all men counted John, that he was a prophet indeed.
But if we say, ‘From men’...” they were afraid of the people, for they all held that John truly was a prophet.
And they sought to lay hold on him, but feared the people: for they knew that he had spoken the parable against them: and they left him, and went their way.
At this, the leaders sought to arrest Jesus, for they knew that He had spoken this parable against them. But fearing the crowd, they left Him and went away.
David therefore himself calleth him Lord; and whence is he then his son? And the common
people heard him
gladly.
David himself calls Him ‘Lord.’ So how can He be David’s son?” And the large crowd
listened to Him with delight.
And Jesus sat over against the treasury, and
beheld how the
people cast money into the treasury: and many that were rich cast in much.
As Jesus was sitting opposite the treasury, He watched the crowd putting money into it. And many rich people put in large amounts.
But they said, Not on the feast day, lest there be an
uproar of the
people.
“But not during the feast,” they said, “or there may be a
riot among the
people.”
Now at that feast he released unto them one prisoner,
whomsoever they desired.
Now it was
Pilate’s custom at the feast to release to the
people a prisoner of their choosing.
But the chief priests moved the people, that he should rather release Barabbas unto them.
But the chief priests
stirred up the crowd to have him release Barabbas to them instead.
And so
Pilate, willing to content the
people, released Barabbas unto them, and delivered Jesus, when he had
scourged him, to be
crucified.
And wishing to satisfy the crowd,
Pilate released Barabbas to them. But he had Jesus
flogged, and handed Him over to be
crucified.
And the whole multitude of the people were praying without at the time of incense.
And at the hour of the incense offering, the whole congregation was praying outside.
And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the
disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a
people prepared for the Lord.
And he will go on before the Lord in the spirit and power of
Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to their children and the
disobedient to the wisdom of the righteous—to make ready a
people prepared for the Lord.”
Meanwhile, the
people were waiting for
Zechariah and wondering why he took so long in the temple.
Thus hath the Lord dealt with me in the days wherein he looked on me, to take away my reproach among men.
“The Lord has done this for me. In these days He has shown me favor and taken away my disgrace among the people.”
And fear came on all that dwelt round about them: and all these sayings were noised abroad throughout all the hill country of Judaea.
All their neighbors were filled with
awe, and
people throughout the hill country of
Judea were talking about these events.
Blessed be the Lord God of Israel; for he hath visited and redeemed his people,
“Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, because He has visited and redeemed His people.
To give knowledge of salvation unto his people by the remission of their sins,
to give to His
people the knowledge of salvation through the
forgiveness of their sins,
And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good
tidings of great joy, which shall be to all
people.
But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid! For behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people:
Which thou hast prepared before the face of all people;
which You have prepared in the sight of all people,
A light to
lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy
people Israel.
a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and for glory to Your people Israel.”
And the people asked him, saying, What shall we do then?
The crowds asked him, “What then should we do?”
And as the
people were in expectation, and all men
mused in their hearts of John, whether he were the Christ, or not;
The people were waiting expectantly and were all wondering in their hearts if John could be the Christ.
And many other things in his
exhortation preached he unto the
people.
With these and many other exhortations, John proclaimed the good news to the people.
Now when all the
people were
baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also being
baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened,
When all the
people were being
baptized, Jesus was
baptized too. And as He was praying, heaven was opened,
And all they in the
synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath,
And came down to
Capernaum, a city of
Galilee, and taught them on the sabbath days.
Then He went down to
Capernaum, a town in
Galilee, and on the Sabbath He began to teach the
people.
And they were all
amazed, and spake among themselves, saying, What a word is this! for with authority and power he commandeth the unclean spirits, and they come out.
All the
people were overcome with
amazement and asked one another, “What is this message? With authority and power He commands the unclean spirits, and they come out!”
And devils also came out of many, crying out, and saying, Thou art Christ the Son of God. And he
rebuking them suffered them not to speak: for they knew that he was Christ.
Demons also came out of many
people,
shouting, “You are the Son of God!” But He
rebuked the demons and would not allow them to speak, because they knew He was the Christ.
And when it was day, he departed and went into a desert place: and the people sought him, and came unto him, and stayed him, that he should not depart from them.
At
daybreak, Jesus went out to a solitary place, and the crowds were looking for Him. They came to Him and tried to keep Him from leaving.
And it came to pass, that, as the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he stood by the lake of Gennesaret,
On one occasion, while Jesus was standing by the Lake of Gennesaret with the crowd pressing in on Him to hear the word of God,
And he entered into one of the ships, which was Simon’s, and prayed him that he would thrust out a little from the land. And he sat down, and taught the people out of the ship.
Jesus got into the boat belonging to Simon and asked him to put out a little from shore. And sitting down, He taught the people from the boat.
And it came to pass on a certain day, as he was teaching, that there were
Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by, which were come out of every town of
Galilee, and Judaea, and Jerusalem: and the power of the Lord was present to
heal them.
One day Jesus was teaching, and the
Pharisees and teachers of the law were sitting there.
People had come from Jerusalem and from every village of
Galilee and
Judea, and the power of the Lord was present for Him to
heal the sick.
And he came down with them, and stood in the plain, and the company of his disciples, and a great multitude of
people out of all Judaea and Jerusalem, and from the sea coast of Tyre and
Sidon, which came to hear him, and to be
healed of their diseases;
Then Jesus came down with them and stood on a level place. A large crowd of His disciples was there, along with a great number of
people from all over
Judea, Jerusalem, and the sea coast of Tyre and
Sidon.
Blessed are ye, when men shall
hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man’s sake.
Blessed are you when
people hate you, and when they
exclude you and
insult you and
reject your name as evil because of the Son of Man.
Now when he had ended all his sayings in the
audience of the
people, he entered into
Capernaum.
When Jesus had concluded His discourse in the hearing of the
people, He went to
Capernaum.
When Jesus heard these things, he
marvelled at him, and turned him about, and said unto the
people that followed him, I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.
When Jesus heard this, He
marveled at the
centurion. Turning to the crowd following Him, He said, “I tell you, not even in Israel have I found such great faith.”
And it came to pass the day after, that he went into a city called
Nain; and many of his disciples went with him, and much
people.
Soon afterward, Jesus went to a town called
Nain. His disciples went with Him, accompanied by a large crowd.
Now when he came
nigh to the gate of the city, behold, there was a dead man carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow: and much
people of the city was with her.
As He approached the town gate, He saw a dead man being carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow. And a large crowd from the town was with her.
And there came a fear on all: and they
glorified God, saying, That a great prophet is risen up among us; and, That God hath visited his
people.
A sense of
awe swept over all of them, and they
glorified God. “A great prophet has appeared among us!” they said. “God has visited His
people!”
And in that same hour he cured many of their
infirmities and plagues, and of evil spirits; and unto many that were blind he gave sight.
At that very hour Jesus
healed many
people of their diseases, afflictions, and evil spirits, and He gave sight to many who were blind.
And when the messengers of John were departed, he began to speak unto the
people concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness for to see? A reed
shaken with the wind?
After John’s messengers had left, Jesus began to speak to the crowds about John: “What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed
swaying in the wind?
And all the
people that heard him, and the publicans, justified God, being
baptized with the baptism of John.
All the people who heard this, even the tax collectors, acknowledged God’s justice. For they had received the baptism of John.
And when much people were gathered together, and were come to him out of every city, he spake by a parable:
While a large crowd was gathering and people were coming to Jesus from town after town, He told them this parable:
Then they went out to see what was done; and came to Jesus, and found the man, out of whom the devils were departed, sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.
So the people went out to see what had happened. They came to Jesus and found the man whom the demons had left, sitting at Jesus’ feet, clothed and in his right mind; and they were afraid.
Then the whole multitude of the country of the Gadarenes round about
besought him to depart from them; for they were taken with great fear: and he went up into the ship, and returned back again.
Then all the people of the region of the Gerasenes asked Jesus to depart from them, because great fear had taken hold of them. So He got into the boat and started back.
And it came to pass, that, when Jesus was returned, the
people gladly received him: for they were all waiting for him.
When Jesus returned, the crowd
welcomed Him, for they had all been waiting for Him.
For he had one only daughter, about twelve years of age, and she lay a dying. But as he went the
people thronged him.
because his only daughter, who was about twelve, was dying. As Jesus went with him, the crowds pressed around Him,
