Berean Standard Bible BSB Bible
Likewise the people of the land shall worship at the door of this gate before the LORD in the sabbaths and in the new moons.
On the Sabbaths and New Moons the
people of the land are also to bow in worship before the LORD at the entrance to that
gateway.
But when the people of the land shall come before the LORD in the solemn feasts, he that entereth in by the way of the north gate to worship shall go out by the way of the south gate; and he that entereth by the way of the south gate shall go forth by the way of the north gate: he shall not return by the way of the gate whereby he came in, but shall go forth over against it.
When the
people of the land come before the LORD at the appointed feasts,
whoever enters by the north gate to worship must go out by the south gate, and
whoever enters by the south gate must go out by the north gate. No one is to return through the gate by which he entered, but each must go out by the opposite gate.
And the prince in the midst of them, when they go in, shall go in; and when they go forth, shall go forth.
When the people enter, the prince shall go in with them, and when they leave, he shall leave.
Moreover the prince shall not take of the people’s inheritance by oppression, to thrust them out of their possession; but he shall give his sons inheritance out of his own possession: that my people be not scattered every man from his possession.
The prince must not take any of the inheritance of the
people by
evicting them from their property. He is to provide an inheritance for his sons from his own property, so that none of My
people will be displaced from his property.’”
Then said he unto me, This is the place where the priests shall
boil the
trespass offering and the sin offering, where they shall
bake the meat offering; that they bear them not out into the utter court, to
sanctify the
people.
and said to me, “This is the place where the priests shall
boil the guilt offering and the sin offering, and where they shall
bake the grain offering, so that they do not bring them into the outer court and
transmit holiness to the
people.”
Then said he unto me, These are the places of them that
boil, where the ministers of the house shall
boil the sacrifice of the
people.
And he said to me, “These are the kitchens where those who minister at the temple will
cook the sacrifices offered by the
people.”
And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with
miry clay, they shall
mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not
cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay.
As you saw the iron mixed with clay, so the
peoples will
mix with one another, but will not hold together any more than iron mixes with clay.
And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other
people, but it shall break in pieces and
consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.
In the days of those kings, the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed, nor will it be left to another
people. It will
shatter all these kingdoms and bring them to an end, but will itself stand
forever.
Then an
herald cried aloud, To you it is commanded, O
people, nations, and languages,
Then the
herald loudly proclaimed, “O
people of every nation and language, this is what you are commanded:
Therefore at that time, when all the
people heard the sound of the
cornet,
flute,
harp,
sackbut,
psaltery, and all kinds of musick, all the
people, the nations, and the languages, fell down and worshipped the golden image that
Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up.
Therefore, as soon as all the
people heard the sound of the horn,
flute,
zither,
lyre,
harp, and all kinds of music, the
people of every nation and language would fall down and worship the golden statue that King
Nebuchadnezzar had set up.
Therefore I make a decree, That every
people, nation, and language, which speak any thing
amiss against the God of
Shadrach, Meshach, and
Abed-nego, shall be cut in pieces, and their houses shall be made a
dunghill: because there is no other God that can deliver after this sort.
Therefore I decree that the
people of any nation or language who say anything offensive against the God of
Shadrach, Meshach, and
Abednego will be cut into pieces and their houses reduced to
rubble. For there is no other god who can deliver in this way.”
Nebuchadnezzar the king, unto all
people, nations, and languages, that dwell in all the earth; Peace be multiplied unto you.
King
Nebuchadnezzar, To the
people of every nation and language who dwell in all the earth: May your prosperity be multiplied.
And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou?
All the peoples of the earth are counted as nothing, and He does as He pleases with the army of heaven and the peoples of the earth. There is no one who can restrain His hand or say to Him, ‘What have You done?’”
And for the majesty that he gave him, all
people, nations, and languages,
trembled and feared before him: whom he would he
slew; and whom he would he kept alive; and whom he would he set up; and whom he would he put down.
Because of the greatness that He bestowed on him, the
people of every nation and language
trembled in fear before him. He killed whom he wished and kept alive whom he wished; he
exalted whom he wished and humbled whom he wished.
Then king
Darius wrote unto all
people, nations, and languages, that dwell in all the earth; Peace be multiplied unto you.
Then King
Darius wrote to the
people of every nation and language throughout the land: “May your prosperity abound.
And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all
people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an
everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.
And He was given dominion, glory, and
kingship, that the
people of every nation and language should serve Him. His dominion is an
everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and His kingdom is one that will never be destroyed.
And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the
people of the saints of the most High, whose kingdom is an
everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him.
Then the sovereignty, dominion, and greatness of the kingdoms under all of heaven will be given to the
people, the saints of the Most High. His kingdom will be an
everlasting kingdom, and all rulers will serve and obey Him.’
And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power: and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall
prosper, and
practise, and shall destroy the mighty and the holy
people.
His power will be great, but it will not be his own. He will cause terrible destruction and succeed in whatever he does. He will destroy the mighty men along with the holy people.
Neither have we
hearkened unto thy servants the prophets, which spake in thy name to our kings, our princes, and our fathers, and to all the
people of the land.
We have not
listened to Your servants the prophets, who spoke in Your name to our kings, leaders, and fathers, and to all the
people of the land.
O Lord, righteousness belongeth unto thee, but unto us confusion of faces, as at this day; to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and unto all Israel, that are near, and that are far off, through all the countries
whither thou hast driven them, because of their
trespass that they have
trespassed against thee.
To You, O Lord, belongs righteousness, but this day we are covered with shame—the men of Judah, the people of Jerusalem, and all Israel near and far, in all the countries to which You have driven us because of our unfaithfulness to You.
And now, O Lord our God, that hast brought thy
people forth out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand, and hast
gotten thee
renown, as at this day; we have
sinned, we have done wickedly.
Now, O Lord our God, who brought Your
people out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand, and who made for
Yourself a name
renowned to this day, we have
sinned; we have acted wickedly.
O Lord, according to all thy righteousness, I
beseech thee, let thine anger and thy
fury be turned away from thy city Jerusalem, thy holy mountain: because for our sins, and for the
iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and thy
people are become a reproach to all that are about us.
O Lord, in keeping with all Your righteous acts, I pray that Your anger and wrath may turn away from Your city Jerusalem, Your holy mountain; for because of our sins and the
iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and Your
people are a reproach to all around us.
O Lord, hear; O Lord,
forgive; O Lord,
hearken and do;
defer not, for thine own sake, O my God: for thy city and thy
people are called by thy name.
O Lord,
listen! O Lord,
forgive! O Lord, hear and act! For Your sake, O my God, do not delay, because Your city and Your
people bear Your name.”
And whiles I was speaking, and praying, and
confessing my sin and the sin of my
people Israel, and presenting my
supplication before the LORD my God for the holy mountain of my God;
While I was speaking, praying,
confessing my sin and that of my
people Israel, and presenting my petition before the LORD my God concerning His holy mountain—
Seventy weeks are determined upon thy
people and upon thy holy city, to finish the
transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make
reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in
everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to
anoint the most Holy.
Seventy weeks are decreed for your
people and your holy city to stop their
transgression, to put an end to sin, to make
atonement for iniquity, to bring in
everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy, and to
anoint the Most Holy Place.
And after
threescore and two weeks shall
Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the
people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.
Then after the sixty-two weeks the
Messiah will be cut off and will have nothing. Then the
people of the prince who is to come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end will come like a flood, and until the end there will be war; desolations have been decreed.
Now I am come to make thee understand what shall
befall thy
people in the latter days: for yet the vision is for many days.
Now I have come to explain to you what will happen to your people in the latter days, for the vision concerns those days.”
And in those times there shall many stand up against the king of the south: also the robbers of thy
people shall
exalt themselves to establish the vision; but they shall fall.
In those times many will rise up against the king of the South. Violent ones among your own
people will
exalt themselves in
fulfillment of the vision, but they will fail.
So the king of the north shall come, and cast up a mount, and take the most
fenced cities: and the arms of the south shall not
withstand, neither his chosen
people, neither shall there be any strength to
withstand.
Then the king of the North will come, build up a siege
ramp, and capture a fortified city. The forces of the South will not stand; even their best troops will not be able to resist.
And after the league made with him he shall work
deceitfully: for he shall come up, and shall become strong with a small
people.
After an alliance is made with him, he will act
deceitfully; for he will rise to power with only a few
people.
And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by
flatteries: but the
people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.
With
flattery he will corrupt those who
violate the covenant, but the
people who know their God will firmly resist him.
And they that understand among the
people shall
instruct many: yet they shall fall by the sword, and by flame, by captivity, and by
spoil, many days.
Those with insight will
instruct many, though for a time they will fall by sword or flame, or be captured or
plundered.
And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.
“At that time Michael, the great prince who stands watch over your
people, will rise up. There will be a time of distress, the likes of which will not have occurred from the beginning of nations until that time. But at that time your
people—
everyone whose name is found written in the book—will be delivered.
And I heard the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand unto heaven, and
sware by him that liveth for ever that it shall be for a time, times, and an half; and when he shall have accomplished to
scatter the power of the holy
people, all these things shall be finished.
And the man dressed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, raised his right hand and his left hand toward heaven, and I heard him
swear by Him who lives
forever, saying, “It will be for a time, and times, and half a time. When the power of the holy
people has finally been
shattered, all these things will be completed.”
Then said God, Call his name Lo-ammi: for ye are not my people, and I will not be your God.
And the LORD said, “Name him Lo-ammi, for you are not My people, and I am not your God.
Yet the number of the children of Israel shall be as the sand of the sea, which cannot be measured nor numbered; and it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my people, there it shall be said unto them, Ye are the sons of the living God.
Yet the number of the Israelites will be like the sand of the sea, which cannot be measured or counted. And it will happen that in the very place where it was said to them, ‘You are not My people,’ they will be called ‘sons of the living God.’
Then shall the children of Judah and the children of Israel be gathered together, and
appoint themselves one head, and they shall come up out of the land: for great shall be the day of
Jezreel.
Then the
people of Judah and of Israel will be gathered together, and they will
appoint for themselves one leader, and will go up out of the land. For great will be the day of
Jezreel.
Say ye unto your brethren, Ammi; and to your sisters, Ru-
hamah.
“Say of your brothers, ‘My people,’ and of your sisters, ‘My loved one.’
And I will
sow her unto me in the earth; and I will have mercy upon her that had not obtained mercy; and I will say to them which were not my
people, Thou art my
people; and they shall say, Thou art my God.
And I will
sow her as My own in the land, and I will have
compassion on ‘No
Compassion.’ I will say to those called ‘Not My
People,’ ‘You are My
people,’ and they will say, ‘You are my God.’”
Afterward shall the children of Israel return, and seek the LORD their God, and David their king; and shall fear the LORD and his goodness in the latter days.
Afterward, the
people of Israel will return and seek the LORD their God and David their king. They will come
trembling to the LORD and to His goodness in the last days.
Hear the word of the LORD, ye children of Israel: for the LORD hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land.
Hear the word of the LORD, O children of Israel, for the LORD has a case against the people of the land: “There is no truth, no loving devotion, and no knowledge of God in the land!
Yet let no man
strive, nor reprove another: for thy
people are as they that
strive with the priest.
But let no man
contend; let no man offer reproof; for your
people are like those who
contend with a priest.
My
people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also
reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also
forget thy children.
My
people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I will also
reject you as My priests. Since you have forgotten the law of your God, I will also
forget your children.
They eat up the sin of my people, and they set their heart on their iniquity.
They feed on the sins of My people and set their hearts on iniquity.
And there shall be, like
people, like priest: and I will
punish them for their ways, and reward them their doings.
And it shall be like
people, like priest. I will
punish both of them for their ways and repay them for their deeds.
My
people ask counsel at their stocks, and their staff declareth unto them: for the spirit of whoredoms hath caused them to
err, and they have gone a
whoring from under their God.
My
people consult their wooden idols, and their divining rods inform them. For a spirit of
prostitution leads them
astray and they have played the
harlot against their God.
I will not
punish your daughters when they commit
whoredom, nor your spouses when they commit
adultery: for themselves are separated with whores, and they sacrifice with harlots: therefore the
people that
doth not understand shall fall.
I will not
punish your daughters when they
prostitute themselves, nor your daughters-in-law when they commit
adultery. For the men themselves go off with prostitutes and offer sacrifices with
shrine prostitutes. So a
people without understanding will come to ruin.
Also, O Judah, he hath set an harvest for thee, when I returned the captivity of my people.
Also for you, O Judah, a harvest is appointed, when I restore My people from captivity.
Ephraim, he hath mixed himself among the
people; Ephraim is a
cake not turned.
Ephraim mixes with the nations; Ephraim is an unturned
cake.
Set the
trumpet to thy mouth. He shall come as an eagle against the house of the LORD, because they have
transgressed my covenant, and
trespassed against my law.
Put the ram’s horn to your lips! An eagle looms over the house of the LORD, because the
people have
transgressed My covenant and rebelled against My law.
Rejoice not, O Israel, for joy, as other
people: for thou hast gone a
whoring from thy God, thou hast loved a reward upon every
cornfloor.
The inhabitants of Samaria shall fear because of the
calves of Beth-
aven: for the
people thereof shall
mourn over it, and the priests thereof that
rejoiced on it, for the glory thereof, because it is departed from it.
The
people of Samaria will fear for the
calf of Beth-
aven. Indeed, its
people will
mourn with its
idolatrous priests— those who
rejoiced in its glory— for it has been taken from them into exile.
It is in my desire that I should
chastise them; and the
people shall be gathered against them, when they shall bind themselves in their two furrows.
Therefore shall a
tumult arise among thy
people, and all thy fortresses shall be
spoiled, as Shalman
spoiled Beth-arbel in the day of battle: the mother was
dashed in pieces upon her children.
the
roar of battle will rise against your
people, so that all your fortresses will be
demolished as Shalman
devastated Beth-arbel in the day of battle, when mothers were
dashed to pieces along with their children.
And my
people are bent to
backsliding from me: though they called them to the most High, none at all would
exalt him.
My
people are bent on turning from Me. Though they call to the Most High, He will by no means
exalt them.
And now they sin more and more, and have made them
molten images of their silver, and idols according to their own understanding, all of it the work of the
craftsmen: they say of them, Let the men that sacrifice
kiss the
calves.
Now they sin more and more and make for themselves cast images, idols
skillfully made from their silver, all of them the work of
craftsmen.
People say of them, “They offer human sacrifice and
kiss the
calves!”
A day of darkness and of
gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick darkness, as the morning spread upon the mountains: a great
people and a strong; there hath not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after it, even to the years of many generations.
a day of darkness and
gloom, a day of clouds and blackness. Like the
dawn overspreading the mountains a great and strong army appears, such as never was of old, nor will ever be in ages to come.
Like the noise of
chariots on the tops of mountains shall they
leap, like the noise of a flame of fire that devoureth the
stubble, as a strong
people set in battle
array.
Before their face the people shall be much pained: all faces shall gather blackness.
Nations
writhe in
horror before them; every face turns pale.
Let the priests, the ministers of the LORD,
weep between the
porch and the altar, and let them say,
Spare thy
people, O LORD, and give not thine
heritage to reproach, that the heathen should rule over them: wherefore should they say among the
people, Where is their God?
Let the priests who minister before the LORD
weep between the
portico and the altar, saying, “
Spare Your
people, O LORD, and do not make Your
heritage a reproach, an object of
scorn among the nations. Why should they say among the
peoples, ‘Where is their God?’”
Then will the LORD be
jealous for his land, and
pity his
people.
Then the LORD became
jealous for His land, and He
spared His
people.
Yea, the LORD will answer and say unto his
people, Behold, I will send you corn, and wine, and oil, and ye shall be satisfied
therewith: and I will no more make you a reproach among the heathen:
And the LORD answered His people: “Behold, I will send you grain, new wine, and oil, and by them you will be satisfied. I will never again make you a reproach among the nations.
And ye shall eat in
plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of the LORD your God, that hath dealt
wondrously with you: and my
people shall never be
ashamed.
You will have
plenty to eat, until you are satisfied. You will praise the name of the LORD your God, who has worked wonders for you. My
people will never again be put to shame.
And ye shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am the LORD your God, and none else: and my
people shall never be
ashamed.
Then you will know that I am present in Israel and that I am the LORD your God, and there is no other. My people will never again be put to shame.
And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall
prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:
And afterward, I will pour out My Spirit on all
people. Your sons and daughters will
prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions.
I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of
Jehoshaphat, and will
plead with them there for my
people and for my
heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted my land.
I will gather all the nations and bring them down to the Valley of
Jehoshaphat. There I will enter into judgment against them concerning My
people, My inheritance, Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations as they divided up My land.
And they have cast lots for my
people; and have given a boy for an
harlot, and sold a
girl for wine, that they might drink.
The children also of Judah and the children of Jerusalem have ye sold unto the Grecians, that ye might remove them far from their border.
You sold the people of Judah and Jerusalem to the Greeks, to send them far from their homeland.
And I will sell your sons and your daughters into the hand of the children of Judah, and they shall sell them to the
Sabeans, to a
people far off: for the LORD hath spoken it.
I will sell your sons and daughters into the hands of the
people of Judah, and they will sell them to the
Sabeans—to a distant nation.” Indeed, the LORD has spoken.
The LORD also shall
roar out of
Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the heavens and the earth shall
shake: but the LORD will be the hope of his
people, and the strength of the children of Israel.
The LORD will
roar from
Zion and raise His voice from Jerusalem; heaven and earth will
tremble. But the LORD will be a refuge for His
people, a
stronghold for the
people of Israel.
Egypt shall be a
desolation, and
Edom shall be a
desolate wilderness, for the violence against the children of Judah, because they have shed innocent blood in their land.
Egypt will become
desolate, and
Edom a desert wasteland, because of the violence done to the
people of Judah, in whose land they shed innocent blood.
I will break also the bar of Damascus, and cut off the inhabitant from the plain of
Aven, and him that holdeth the
sceptre from the house of
Eden: and the
people of Syria shall go into captivity unto Kir, saith the LORD.
I will break down the gates of Damascus; I will cut off the ruler of the Valley of
Aven and the one who wields the
scepter in Beth-
eden. The
people of
Aram will be exiled to Kir,” says the LORD.
Shall a
trumpet be
blown in the city, and the
people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?
If a ram’s horn sounds in a city, do the
people not
tremble? If
calamity comes to a city, has not the LORD caused it?
So two or three cities
wandered unto one city, to drink water; but they were not satisfied: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.
People staggered from city to city for water to drink, but they were not satisfied; yet you did not return to Me,” declares the LORD.
And the LORD said unto me,
Amos, what seest thou? And I said, A plumbline. Then said the Lord, Behold, I will set a plumbline in the midst of my
people Israel: I will not again pass by them any more:
“
Amos, what do you see?” asked the LORD. “A
plumb line,” I replied. “Behold,” said the Lord, “I am setting a
plumb line among My
people Israel; I will no longer
spare them:
And the LORD took me as I followed the flock, and the LORD said unto me, Go,
prophesy unto my
people Israel.
But the LORD took me from following the flock and said to me, ‘Go,
prophesy to My
people Israel.’
And he said,
Amos, what seest thou? And I said, A
basket of summer fruit. Then said the LORD unto me, The end is come upon my
people of Israel; I will not again pass by them any more.
“
Amos, what do you see?” He asked. “A
basket of summer fruit,” I replied. So the LORD said to me, “The end has come for My
people Israel; I will no longer
spare them.”
And they shall
wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and
fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it.
People will
stagger from sea to sea and
roam from north to east, seeking the word of the LORD, but they will not find it.
I saw the LORD standing upon the altar: and he said,
Smite the
lintel of the door, that the posts may
shake: and cut them in the head, all of them; and I will
slay the last of them with the sword: he that fleeth of them shall not
flee away, and he that escapeth of them shall not be delivered.
I saw the Lord standing beside the altar, and He said: “Strike the tops of the pillars so that the thresholds
shake.
Topple them on the heads of all the
people, and I will kill the rest with the sword. None of those who
flee will get away; none of the fugitives will escape.
All the sinners of my people shall die by the sword, which say, The evil shall not overtake nor prevent us.
All the sinners among My
people will die by the sword— all those who say, ‘
Disaster will never draw near or
confront us.’”
And I will bring again the captivity of my people of Israel, and they shall build the waste cities, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and drink the wine thereof; they shall also make gardens, and eat the fruit of them.
I will restore My people Israel from captivity; they will rebuild and inhabit the ruined cities. They will plant vineyards and drink their wine; they will make gardens and eat their fruit.
But thou shouldest not have looked on the day of thy brother in the day that he became a stranger; neither shouldest thou have
rejoiced over the children of Judah in the day of their destruction; neither shouldest thou have spoken proudly in the day of distress.
But you should not
gloat in that day, your brother’s day of misfortune, nor
rejoice over the
people of Judah in the day of their destruction, nor
boast proudly in the day of their distress.
Thou shouldest not have entered into the gate of my
people in the day of their
calamity;
yea, thou shouldest not have looked on their
affliction in the day of their
calamity, nor have laid hands on their substance in the day of their
calamity;
Then said they unto him, Tell us, we pray thee, for whose cause this evil is upon us; What is thine occupation? and whence comest thou? what is thy country? and of what people art thou?
“Tell us now,” they demanded, “who is to
blame for this
calamity that is upon us? What is your occupation, and where have you come from? What is your country, and who are your
people?”
So the
people of
Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and put on
sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them.
And the Ninevites believed God. They proclaimed a fast and dressed in
sackcloth, from the greatest of them to the least.
And should not I
spare Nineveh, that great city, wherein are more than
sixscore thousand persons that cannot
discern between their right hand and their left hand; and also much cattle?
So should I not care about the great city of
Nineveh, which has more than 120,000
people who cannot tell their right hand from their left, and many cattle as well?”
Hear, all ye
people;
hearken, O earth, and all that therein is: and let the Lord GOD be witness against you, the Lord from his holy temple.
Hear, O
peoples, all of you;
listen, O earth, and
everyone in it! May the Lord GOD bear witness against you, the Lord from His holy temple.
For her wound is incurable; for it is come unto Judah; he is come unto the gate of my people, even to Jerusalem.
For her wound is incurable; it has reached even Judah; it has approached the gate of my people, as far as Jerusalem itself.
In that day shall one take up a parable against you, and
lament with a
doleful lamentation, and say, We be utterly
spoiled: he hath changed the portion of my
people: how hath he removed it from me! turning away he hath divided our fields.
In that day they will take up a
proverb against you and
taunt you with this bitter
lamentation: ‘We are utterly ruined! He has changed the portion of my
people. How He has removed it from me! He has
allotted our fields to traitors.’”
Even of late my
people is risen up as an enemy: ye pull off the
robe with the garment from them that pass by securely as men
averse from war.
But of late My
people have risen up like an enemy: You strip off the splendid
robe from
unsuspecting passersby like men returning from battle.
The women of my people have ye cast out from their pleasant houses; from their children have ye taken away my glory for ever.
You drive the women of My
people from their pleasant homes. You take away My blessing from their children
forever.
If a man walking in the spirit and
falsehood do lie, saying, I will
prophesy unto thee of wine and of strong drink; he shall even be the prophet of this
people.
If a man of wind were to come and say falsely, “I will
preach to you of wine and strong drink,” he would be just the preacher for this
people!
Who
hate the good, and love the evil; who
pluck off their skin from off them, and their flesh from off their bones;
You
hate good and love evil. You
tear the skin from my
people and strip the flesh from their bones.
Who also eat the flesh of my
people, and
flay their skin from off them; and they break their bones, and
chop them in pieces, as for the pot, and as flesh within the
caldron.
You eat the flesh of my
people after
stripping off their skin and breaking their bones. You
chop them up like flesh for the
cooking pot, like meat in a cauldron.”
Thus saith the LORD concerning the prophets that make my
people err, that
bite with their teeth, and cry, Peace; and he that putteth not into their mouths, they even prepare war against him.
This is what the LORD says: “As for the prophets who lead My
people astray, who
proclaim peace while they
chew with their teeth, but declare war against one who puts nothing in their mouths:
But in the last days it shall come to pass, that the mountain of the house of the LORD shall be established in the top of the mountains, and it shall be
exalted above the hills; and
people shall flow unto it.
In the last days the mountain of the house of the LORD will be established as the chief of the mountains; it will be raised above the hills, and the peoples will stream to it.
And he shall judge among many
people, and
rebuke strong nations
afar off; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up a sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.
Then He will judge between many
peoples and
arbitrate for strong nations far and wide. Then they will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into
pruning hooks. Nation will no longer take up the sword against nation, nor will they train anymore for war.
For all people will walk every one in the name of his god, and we will walk in the name of the LORD our God for ever and ever.
Though each of the
peoples may walk in the name of his god, yet we will walk in the name of the LORD our God
forever and ever.
Arise and
thresh, O daughter of
Zion: for I will make thine horn iron, and I will make thy
hoofs brass: and thou shalt beat in pieces many
people: and I will
consecrate their gain unto the LORD, and their substance unto the Lord of the whole earth.
Rise and
thresh, O Daughter of
Zion, for I will give you horns of iron and
hooves of bronze to break to pieces many
peoples. Then you will
devote their gain to the LORD, their wealth to the Lord of all the earth.
