Joppa, and call
hither Simon, whose
surname is
Peter; he is
lodged in the house of one Simon a
tanner by the sea side: who, when he cometh, shall speak unto thee.
Therefore send to
Joppa for Simon, who is called
Peter. He is a

Peter began to speak: “I now truly understand that God does not show
favoritism,
While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.
While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all who heard his message.
And they of the
circumcision which believed were
astonished, as many as came with
Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.
All the
circumcised believers who had accompanied
Peter were
astounded that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out even on the Gentiles.
For they heard them speak with tongues, and
magnify God. Then answered
Peter,
For they heard them speaking in tongues and
exalting God. Then
Peter said,
So when
Peter went up to Jerusalem, the
circumcised believers took issue with him
But
Peter rehearsed the matter from the beginning, and
expounded it by order unto them, saying,
But
Peter began and explained to them the whole
sequence of events:
And I heard a voice saying unto me, Arise,
Peter;
slay and eat.
Then I heard a voice saying to me, ‘Get up, Peter, kill and eat.’
And he shewed us how he had seen an angel in his house, which stood and said unto him, Send men to
Joppa, and call for Simon, whose
surname is
Peter;
He told us how he had seen an angel standing in his house and saying, ‘Send to

And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take
Peter also. (Then were the days of
unleavened bread.)
And seeing that this pleased the Jews, Herod proceeded to seize
Peter during the Feast of
Unleavened Bread.
Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.
So
Peter was kept in prison, but the church was
fervently praying to God for him.
And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before the door kept the prison.
On the night before Herod was to bring him to trial, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains, with sentries standing guard at the entrance to the prison.
And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light
shined in the prison: and he
smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands.
Suddenly an angel of the Lord appeared and a light
shone in the cell. He
tapped Peter on the side and
woke him up, saying, “Get up quickly.” And the chains fell off his wrists.
And the angel said unto him,
Gird thyself, and bind on thy
sandals. And so he did. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me.
“Get dressed and put on your
sandals,” said the angel.
Peter did so, and the angel told him, “
Wrap your
cloak around you and follow me.”
And he went out, and followed him; and
wist not that it was true which was done by the angel; but thought he saw a vision.
So Peter followed him out, but he was unaware that what the angel was doing was real. He thought he was only seeing a vision.
And when
Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a
surety, that the Lord hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews.
Then
Peter came to himself and said, “Now I know for sure that the Lord has sent His angel and
rescued me from Herod’s
grasp and from everything the Jewish people were
anticipating.”
He
knocked at the outer gate, and a servant
girl named Rhoda came to answer it.
And when she knew
Peter’s voice, she opened not the gate for
gladness, but ran in, and told how
Peter stood before the gate.
When she recognized
Peter’s voice, she was so overjoyed that she
forgot to open the gate, but ran inside and
announced, “
Peter is standing at the gate!”
But
Peter continued
knocking: and when they had opened the door, and saw him, they were
astonished.
But
Peter kept on
knocking, and when they opened the door and saw him, they were
astounded.
But he,
beckoning unto them with the hand to hold their peace, declared unto them how the Lord had brought him out of the prison. And he said, Go
shew these things unto James, and to the brethren. And he departed, and went into another place.
Peter motioned with his hand for silence, and he described how the Lord had brought him out of the prison. “Send word to James and to the brothers,” he said, and he left for another place.
Now as soon as it was day, there was no small
stir among the soldiers, what was become of
Peter.
At
daybreak there was no small
commotion among the soldiers as to what had become of
Peter.
And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up, and said unto them, Men and brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel, and believe.
After much discussion, Peter got up and said to them, “Brothers, you know that in the early days God made a choice among you that the Gentiles would hear from my lips the message of the gospel and believe.
Now therefore ye with the council
signify to the chief captain that he bring him down unto you to
morrow, as though ye would
enquire something more perfectly concerning him: and we, or ever he come near, are ready to kill him.
Now then, you and the
Sanhedrin petition the commander to bring him down to you on the pretext of examining his case more carefully. We are ready to kill him on the way.”
And
Festus said, King
Agrippa, and all men which are here present with us, ye see this man, about whom all the multitude of the Jews have dealt with me, both at Jerusalem, and also here, crying that he ought not to live any longer.
Then
Festus said, “King
Agrippa and all who are present with us, you see this man. The whole Jewish community has
petitioned me about him, both here and in Jerusalem, crying out that he ought not to live any longer.
Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to see Peter, and abode with him fifteen days.
Only after three years did I go up to Jerusalem to
confer with
Cephas, and I stayed with him fifteen days.
But when
Peter was come to Antioch, I
withstood him to the face, because he was to be
blamed.
When
Cephas came to Antioch, however, I opposed him to his face, because he stood to be condemned.
But when I saw that they walked not uprightly according to the truth of the gospel, I said unto
Peter before them all, If thou, being a
Jew, livest after the manner of Gentiles, and not as do the Jews, why compellest thou the Gentiles to live as do the Jews?
When I saw that they were not walking in line with the truth of the gospel, I said to
Cephas in front of them all, “If you, who are a
Jew, live like a
Gentile and not like a
Jew, how can you
compel the Gentiles to live like Jews?”
Pray in the Spirit at all times, with every kind of prayer and
petition. To this end, stay
alert with all
perseverance in your prayers for all the saints.
Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and
supplication with
thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and
petition, with
thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
I
exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of
thanks, be made for all men;
Now she that is a widow indeed, and
desolate, trusteth in God, and continueth in supplications and prayers night and day.
The widow who is truly in need and left all alone puts her hope in God and continues night and day in her petitions and prayers.
Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared;
During the days of Jesus’ earthly life, He offered up prayers and
petitions with loud
cries and tears to the One who could save Him from death, and He was heard because of His reverence.
Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:
Simon
Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who through the righteousness of our God and
Savior Jesus Christ have received a faith as precious as ours:
And if we know that he hear us,
whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the
petitions that we desired of him.
And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we already possess what we have asked of Him.
O hear the prayer of thy servant, and give ear to the petition of thy creature.
Hear our prayers, O Lord, and our petitions, and deliver us for thine own sake, and give us favour in the sight of them which have led us away:
Thou, O Lord,
didst choose this house to be called by thy name, and to be a house of prayer and
petition for thy people:
John and Absolom, who were sent from you, delivered me the
petition subscribed, and made request for the performance of the contents thereof.
