halt, and the blind.

servant can serve two masters: for either he will
hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and
despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and
mammon.
No
servant can serve two masters. Either he will
hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and
despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.”
But which of you, having a
servant plowing or feeding cattle, will say unto him by and by, when he is come from the field, Go and sit down to meat?
Which of you whose
servant comes in from
plowing or

Doth he
thank that
servant because he did the things that were commanded him? I
trow not.
Does he
thank the
servant because he did what he was told?

earned.

servant. Thou knewest that I was an

servant, I will judge you by your own words. So you knew that I am a harsh man, withdrawing what I did not deposit and
reaping what I did not
sow?

servant, but they beat him and treated him
shamefully, sending him away empty-handed.

Jesus replied, “Truly, truly, I tell you,
everyone who sins is a slave to sin.
And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever.
A slave is not a permanent member of the family, but a son belongs to it
forever.
The man runs away because he is a
hired servant and is unconcerned for the sheep.
If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.
If
anyone serves Me, he must follow Me; and where I am, My
servant will be as well. If
anyone serves Me, the Father will honor him.
Verily,
verily, I say unto you, The
servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him.
Truly, truly, I tell you, no
servant is greater than his master, nor is a
messenger greater than the one who sent him.
Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.
No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not understand what his master is doing. But I have called you friends, because everything I have learned from My Father I have made known to you.
Remember the word that I said unto you, The
servant is not greater than his lord. If they have
persecuted me, they will also
persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.
Remember the word that I spoke to you: ‘No
servant is greater than his master.’ If they
persecuted Me, they will
persecute you as well; if they kept My word, they will keep yours as well.

And on my
servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall
prophesy:
Even on My menservants and maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days, and they will
prophesy.
The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, hath
glorified his Son Jesus; whom ye delivered up, and denied him in the presence of
Pilate, when he was determined to let him go.
The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has
glorified His
servant Jesus. You handed Him over and rejected Him before
Pilate, even though he had decided to release Him.
Unto you first God, having raised up his Son Jesus, sent him to
bless you, in turning away every one of you from his
iniquities.
When God raised up His
Servant, He sent Him first to you to
bless you by turning each of you from your wicked ways.”
Who by the mouth of thy
servant David hast said, Why did the heathen
rage, and the people imagine vain things?
You spoke by the Holy Spirit through the mouth of Your
servant, our father David: ‘Why do the nations
rage and the peoples plot in vain?
For of a truth against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou hast
anointed, both Herod, and Pontius
Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together,
In fact, this is the very city where Herod and Pontius
Pilate conspired with the Gentiles and the people of Israel against Your holy
servant Jesus, whom You
anointed.
And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word,
And now, Lord, consider their threats, and enable Your servants to speak Your word with complete boldness,
By stretching forth thine hand to
heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus.
as You stretch out Your hand to
heal and perform signs and wonders through the name of Your holy
servant Jesus.”
And when the angel which spake unto
Cornelius was departed, he called two of his household
servants, and a
devout soldier of them that waited on him continually;

He
knocked at the outer gate, and a
servant girl named Rhoda came to answer it.
The same followed Paul and us, and
cried, saying, These men are the
servants of the most high God, which
shew unto us the way of salvation.
This
girl followed Paul and the rest of us,
shouting, “These men are
servants of the Most High God, who are
proclaiming to you the way of salvation!”
But rise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee;
‘But get up and stand on your feet. For I have appeared to you to
appoint you as a
servant and as a witness of what you have seen from Me and what I will show you.
Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God,
Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle, and set apart for the gospel of God—
Know ye not, that to whom ye yield
yourselves servants to obey, his
servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
Do you not know that when you offer
yourselves as
obedient slaves, you are slaves to the one you obey, whether you are slaves to sin leading to death, or to obedience leading to righteousness?
But God be
thanked, that ye were the
servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.
But
thanks be to God that, though you once were slaves to sin, you wholeheartedly obeyed the form of teaching to which you were committed.
Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.
You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness.
I speak after the manner of men because of the
infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members
servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members
servants to righteousness unto
holiness.
I am speaking in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh. Just as you used to offer the parts of your body in slavery to impurity and to escalating wickedness, so now offer them in slavery to righteousness leading to
holiness.
For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness.
For when you were slaves to sin, you were free of obligation to righteousness.
But now being made free from sin, and become
servants to God, ye have your fruit unto
holiness, and the end
everlasting life.
But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves to God, the fruit you
reap leads to
holiness, and the outcome is eternal life.
For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a
revenger to
execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.
For he is God’s
servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not carry the sword in vain. He is God’s
servant, an agent of
retribution to the
wrongdoer.
For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God’s ministers, attending continually upon this very thing.
This is also why you pay taxes. For the authorities are God’s
servants, who
devote themselves to their work.
Who art thou that judgest another man’s
servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth.
Yea, he shall be
holden up: for God is able to make him stand.
Who are you to judge someone else’s servant? To his own master he stands or falls. And he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand.
Now I say that Jesus Christ was a minister of the
circumcision for the truth of God, to
confirm the promises made unto the fathers:
For I tell you that Christ has become a
servant of the
circumcised on behalf of God’s truth, to
confirm the promises made to the patriarchs,
I
commend unto you
Phebe our sister, which is a
servant of the church which is at Cenchrea:
I
commend to you our sister
Phoebe, a
servant of the church in Cenchrea.
Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom ye believed, even as the Lord gave to every man?
What then is Apollos? And what is Paul? They are
servants through whom you believed, as the Lord has assigned to each his
role.
Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God.
So then, men ought to regard us as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God.
Art thou called being a servant? care not for it: but if thou mayest be made free, use it rather.
Were you a slave when you were called? Do not let it
concern you—but if you can gain your freedom, take the opportunity.
For he that is called in the Lord, being a
servant, is the Lord’s
freeman: likewise also he that is called, being free, is Christ’s
servant.
For he who was a slave when he was called by the Lord is the Lord’s
freedman.
Conversely, he who was a free man when he was called is Christ’s slave.
Ye are bought with a price; be not ye the servants of men.
You were bought at a price; do not become slaves of men.
For though I be free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more.
Though I am free of obligation to
anyone, I make myself a slave to
everyone, to
win as many as possible.
For we
preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your
servants for Jesus’ sake.
For we do not
proclaim ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your
servants for Jesus’ sake.
Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.
It is not surprising, then, if his
servants masquerade as
servants of righteousness. Their end will correspond to their actions.
Are they ministers of Christ? (I speak as a
fool) I am more; in labours more abundant, in stripes above measure, in prisons more frequent, in deaths
oft.
Are they servants of Christ? I am speaking like I am out of my mind, but I am so much more: in harder labor, in more imprisonments, in worse beatings, in frequent danger of death.
For do I now
persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the
servant of Christ.
Am I now seeking the
approval of men, or of God? Or am I
striving to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a
servant of Christ.
Now I say, That the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all;
What I am saying is that as long as the heir is a child, he is no different from a slave, although he is the owner of everything.
Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.
So you are no longer a slave, but a son; and since you are a son, you are also an heir through God.
Whereof I was made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God given unto me by the
effectual working of his power.
I became a servant of this gospel by the gift of God’s grace, given me through the working of His power.
Servants, be
obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and
trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ;
Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear and
sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ.
Not with
eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the
servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart;
And do this not only to please them while they are watching, but as servants of Christ, doing the will of God from your heart.
But that ye also may know my affairs, and how I do,
Tychicus, a beloved brother and faithful minister in the Lord, shall make known to you all things:
Tychicus, the beloved brother and faithful
servant in the Lord, will tell you everything, so that you also may know about me and what I am doing.
Paul and
Timotheus, the
servants of Jesus Christ, to all the saints in Christ Jesus which are at
Philippi, with the bishops and deacons:
Paul and
Timothy,
servants of Christ Jesus, To all the saints in Christ Jesus at
Philippi, together with the overseers and deacons:
But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
but
emptied Himself, taking the form of a
servant, being made in human likeness.
As ye also learned of Epaphras our
dear fellowservant, who is for you a faithful minister of Christ;
You learned it from Epaphras, our beloved fellow servant, who is a faithful minister of Christ on our behalf,
If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven;
whereof I Paul am made a minister;
if indeed you continue in your faith, established and firm, not moved from the hope of the gospel you heard, which has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven, and of which I, Paul, have become a servant.
Whereof I am made a minister, according to the
dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to fulfil the word of God;
I became its
servant by the commission God gave me to fully
proclaim to you the word of God,
Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with
eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God:
Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything, not only to please them while they are watching, but with
sincerity of heart and fear of the Lord.
Masters, give unto your servants that which is just and equal; knowing that ye also have a Master in heaven.
Masters, supply your slaves with what is right and fair, since you know that you also have a Master in heaven.
All my state shall
Tychicus declare unto you, who is a beloved brother, and a faithful minister and fellowservant in the Lord:
Tychicus will tell you all the news about me. He is a beloved brother, a faithful minister, and a fellow
servant in the Lord.
Epaphras, who is one of you, a
servant of Christ, saluteth you, always labouring
fervently for you in prayers, that ye may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God.
Epaphras, who is one of you and a
servant of Christ Jesus, sends you greetings. He is always
wrestling in prayer for you, so that you may stand
mature and fully
assured in the full will of God.
If thou put the brethren in
remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ,
nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine,
whereunto thou hast attained.
By pointing out these things to the brothers, you will be a good
servant of Christ Jesus,
nourished by the words of faith and sound instruction that you have followed.
Let as many
servants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honour, that the name of God and his doctrine be not
blasphemed.
All who are under the yoke of slavery should regard their masters as fully worthy of honor, so that God’s name and our teaching will not be discredited.
And the
servant of the Lord must not
strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,
Paul, a
servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God’s
elect, and the acknowledging of the truth which is after
godliness;
Paul, a
servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ for the faith of God’s
elect and their knowledge of the truth that leads to
godliness,
Exhort servants to be
obedient unto their own masters, and to please them well in all things; not answering again;
Slaves are to submit to their own masters in everything, to be well-pleasing, not
argumentative,
Not now as a servant, but above a servant, a brother beloved, specially to me, but how much more unto thee, both in the flesh, and in the Lord?
no longer as a slave, but better than a slave, as a beloved brother. He is especially beloved to me, but even more so to you, both in person and in the Lord.
And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire.
Now about the angels He says: “He makes His angels winds, His servants flames of fire.”
And Moses
verily was faithful in all his house, as a
servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken after;
Now Moses was faithful as a
servant in all God’s house,
testifying to what would be spoken later.
James, a
servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad,
greeting.
James, a
servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, To the twelve tribes of the
Dispersion: Greetings.
As free, and not using your liberty for a
cloke of
maliciousness, but as the
servants of God.
Live in freedom, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as servants of God.
Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear; not only to the good and gentle, but also to the
froward.
Servants, submit
yourselves to your masters with all respect, not only to those who are good and gentle, but even to those who are unreasonable.
