These are the generations of Jacob. Joseph, being
seventeen years old, was feeding the flock with his brethren; and the
lad was with the sons of
Bilhah, and with the sons of Zilpah, his father’s wives: and Joseph brought unto his father their evil report.
This is the account of Jacob. When Joseph was
seventeen years old, he was tending the flock with his brothers, the sons of his father’s wives
Bilhah and Zilpah, and he brought their father a bad report about them.
And, behold, there came up out of the river
seven well favoured
kine and fatfleshed; and they fed in a
meadow.
when
seven cows,
sleek and well-fed, came up from the river and began to
graze among the reeds.
And, behold,
seven other
kine came up after them out of the river, ill favoured and leanfleshed; and stood by the other
kine upon the
brink of the river.
After them, seven other cows, sickly and thin, came up from the Nile and stood beside the well-fed cows on the bank of the river.
And the ill favoured and leanfleshed
kine did eat up the
seven well favoured and fat
kine. So Pharaoh
awoke.
And the cows that were sickly and thin
devoured the
seven sleek, well-fed cows. Then Pharaoh
woke up,
And he
slept and dreamed the second time: and, behold,
seven ears of corn came up upon one
stalk, rank and good.
but he fell back
asleep and dreamed a second time:
Seven heads of grain,
plump and ripe, came up on one
stalk.
And, behold, seven thin ears and blasted with the east wind sprung up after them.
After them,
seven other heads of grain
sprouted, thin and
scorched by the east wind.
And the
seven thin ears
devoured the
seven rank and full ears. And Pharaoh
awoke, and, behold, it was a dream.
And the thin heads of grain
swallowed up the
seven plump, ripe ones. Then Pharaoh
awoke and realized it was a dream.
And, behold, there came up out of the river
seven kine, fatfleshed and well favoured; and they fed in a
meadow:
when
seven cows, well-fed and
sleek, came up from the river and began to
graze among the reeds.
And, behold,
seven other
kine came up after them, poor and very ill favoured and leanfleshed, such as I never saw in all the land of Egypt for badness:
After them,
seven other cows—sickly,
ugly, and thin—came up. I have never seen such
ugly cows in all the land of Egypt!
And the
lean and the ill favoured
kine did eat up the first
seven fat
kine:
Then the thin,
ugly cows
devoured the
seven well-fed cows that were there first.
And I saw in my dream, and, behold,
seven ears came up in one
stalk, full and good:
In my dream I also saw
seven heads of grain,
plump and ripe, growing on a single
stalk.
And, behold,
seven ears,
withered, thin, and blasted with the east wind, sprung up after them:
And the thin ears
devoured the
seven good ears: and I told this unto the magicians; but there was none that could declare it to me.
And the thin heads of grain
swallowed the
seven plump ones. I told this dream to the magicians, but no one could explain it to me.”
The
seven good
kine are
seven years; and the
seven good ears are
seven years: the dream is one.
The seven good cows are seven years, and the seven ripe heads of grain are seven years. The dreams have the same meaning.
And the
seven thin and ill favoured
kine that came up after them are
seven years; and the
seven empty ears blasted with the east wind shall be
seven years of famine.
Moreover, the
seven thin,
ugly cows that came up after them are
seven years, and so are the
seven worthless heads of grain
scorched by the east wind—they are
seven years of famine.
Behold, there come
seven years of great
plenty throughout all the land of Egypt:
Behold, seven years of great abundance are coming throughout the land of Egypt,
And there shall arise after them
seven years of famine; and all the
plenty shall be forgotten in the land of Egypt; and the famine shall
consume the land;
but
seven years of famine will follow them. Then all the abundance in the land of Egypt will be forgotten, and the famine will
devastate the land.
Let Pharaoh do this, and let him
appoint officers over the land, and take up the fifth part of the land of Egypt in the

seven years of abundance.
And that food shall be for store to the land against the seven years of famine, which shall be in the land of Egypt; that the land perish not through the famine.
This food will be a reserve for the land during the seven years of famine to come upon the land of Egypt. Then the country will not perish in the famine.”
And in the
seven plenteous years the earth brought forth by handfuls.
During the
seven years of abundance, the land brought forth
bountifully.
And he gathered up all the food of the seven years, which were in the land of Egypt, and laid up the food in the cities: the food of the field, which was round about every city, laid he up in the same.
During those seven years, Joseph collected all the excess food in the land of Egypt and stored it in the cities. In every city he laid up the food from the fields around it.
And the
seven years of
plenteousness, that was in the land of Egypt, were ended.
When the seven years of abundance in the land of Egypt came to an end,
And the
seven years of
dearth began to come, according as Joseph had said: and the
dearth was in all lands; but in all the land of Egypt there was bread.
the seven years of famine began, just as Joseph had said. And although there was famine in every country, there was food throughout the land of Egypt.

Seven days shall ye eat
unleavened bread; even the first day ye shall put away
leaven out of your houses: for
whosoever eateth
leavened bread from the first day until the
seventh day, that soul shall be cut off from Israel.
For
seven days you must eat
unleavened bread. On the first day you are to remove the
leaven from your houses.
Whoever eats anything
leavened from the first day through the
seventh must be cut off from Israel.
And in the first day there shall be an holy
convocation, and in the
seventh day there shall be an holy
convocation to you; no manner of work shall be done in them, save that which every man must eat, that only may be done of you.
On the first day you are to hold a sacred assembly, and another on the seventh day. You must not do any work on those days, except to prepare the meals—that is all you may do.
Seven days shall there be no
leaven found in your houses: for
whosoever eateth that which is
leavened, even that soul shall be cut off from the congregation of Israel, whether he be a stranger, or born in the land.
For
seven days there must be no
leaven found in your houses. If
anyone eats something
leavened, that person, whether a foreigner or native of the land, must be cut off from the congregation of Israel.
Seven days thou shalt eat
unleavened bread, and in the

For

unleavened bread, and on the
seventh day there shall be a feast to the LORD.

seven days; and there shall no
leavened bread be seen with thee, neither shall there be
leaven seen with thee in all thy quarters.

Six days ye shall gather it; but on the seventh day, which is the sabbath, in it there shall be none.
For six days you may gather, but on the seventh day, the Sabbath, it will not be there.”
And it came to pass, that there went out some of the people on the seventh day for to gather, and they found none.
Yet on the seventh day some of the people went out to gather, but they did not find anything.
See, for that the LORD hath given you the sabbath, therefore he giveth you on the sixth day the bread of two days;
abide ye every man in his place, let no man go out of his place on the
seventh day.
Understand that the LORD has given you the Sabbath; that is why on the sixth day He will give you bread for two days. On the
seventh day,
everyone must stay where he is; no one may leave his place.”
So the people rested on the seventh day.
So the people rested on the seventh day.
But the
seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy
manservant, nor thy
maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
but the
seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God, on which you must not do any work—neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your
manservant or
maidservant or
livestock, nor the foreigner within your gates.
For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the

hallowed it.

But the
seventh year thou shalt let it rest and lie still; that the poor of thy people may eat: and what they leave the beasts of the field shall eat. In like manner thou shalt deal with thy
vineyard, and with thy oliveyard.
but in the
seventh year you must let it rest and lie
fallow, so that the poor among your people may eat from the field and the wild animals may
consume what they leave. Do the same with your
vineyard and olive
grove.
Six days thou shalt do thy work, and on the
seventh day thou shalt rest: that thine ox and thine

Nadab and
Abihu, and
seventy of Israel’s elders—and you are to worship at a distance.
Then went up Moses, and Aaron,
Nadab, and
Abihu, and
seventy of the elders of Israel:
Then Moses went up with Aaron,
Nadab and
Abihu, and
seventy of the elders of Israel,

ordain them.
Seven days thou shalt make an
atonement for the altar, and
sanctify it; and it shall be an altar most holy:
whatsoever toucheth the altar shall be holy.
For
seven days you shall make
atonement for the altar and
consecrate it. Then the altar will become most holy; whatever touches the altar will be holy.
Six days may work be done; but in the
seventh is the sabbath of rest, holy to the LORD:
whosoever doeth any work in the sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death.
For six days work may be done, but the
seventh day is a Sabbath of complete rest, holy to the LORD.
Whoever does any work on the Sabbath day must surely be put to death.
It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed.
It is a sign between Me and the Israelites
forever; for in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, but on the
seventh day He rested and was refreshed.’”
The feast of
unleavened bread shalt thou keep.
Seven days thou shalt eat
unleavened bread, as I commanded thee, in the time of the month
Abib: for in the month
Abib thou camest out from Egypt.
You are to keep the Feast of
Unleavened Bread. For
seven days at the appointed time in the month of
Abib, you are to eat
unleavened bread as I commanded you. For in the month of
Abib you came out of Egypt.
Six days thou shalt work, but on the seventh day thou shalt rest: in earing time and in harvest thou shalt rest.
Six days you shall labor, but on the
seventh day you shall rest; even in the seasons of
plowing and harvesting, you must rest.
Six days shall work be done, but on the
seventh day there shall be to you an holy day, a sabbath of rest to the LORD:

veil of the sanctuary.
