But I will lie with my fathers, and thou
shalt carry me out of Egypt, and
bury me in their buryingplace. And he said, I will do as thou hast said.
but when I lie down with my fathers, carry me out of Egypt and
bury me with them.” Joseph answered, “I will do as you have requested.”
And now thy two sons, Ephraim and
Manasseh, which were born unto thee in the land of Egypt before I came unto thee into Egypt, are mine; as
Reuben and
Simeon, they
shall be mine.
And now your two sons born to you in Egypt before I came to you here
shall be reckoned as mine; Ephraim and
Manasseh shall be mine, just as
Reuben and
Simeon are mine.
And thy issue, which thou begettest after them, shall be thine, and shall be called after the name of their brethren in their inheritance.
Any children born to you after them
shall be yours, and they
shall be called by the names of their brothers in the territory they
inherit.
And his father refused, and said, I know it, my son, I know it: he also shall become a people, and he also shall be great: but truly his younger brother shall be greater than he, and his seed shall become a multitude of nations.
But his father refused. “I know, my son, I know!” he said. “He too shall become a people, and he too shall be great; nevertheless, his younger brother shall be greater than he, and his offspring shall become a multitude of nations.”
And he blessed them that day, saying, In thee
shall Israel
bless, saying, God make thee as Ephraim and as
Manasseh: and he set Ephraim before
Manasseh.
So that day Jacob blessed them and said: “By you
shall Israel
pronounce this blessing: ‘May God make you like Ephraim and
Manasseh.’” So he put Ephraim before
Manasseh.
And Israel said unto Joseph, Behold, I die: but God shall be with you, and bring you again unto the land of your fathers.
Then Israel said to Joseph, “Look, I am about to die, but God will be with you and bring you back to the land of your fathers.
And Jacob called unto his sons, and said, Gather
yourselves together, that I may tell you that which
shall befall you in the last days.
Then Jacob called for his sons and said, “Gather around so that I can tell you what will happen to you in the days to come:
Unstable as water, thou
shalt not
excel; because thou wentest up to thy father’s bed; then defiledst thou it: he went up to my
couch.
Judah, thou art he whom thy brethren shall praise: thy hand shall be in the neck of thine enemies; thy father’s children shall bow down before thee.
Judah, your brothers shall praise you. Your hand shall be on the necks of your enemies; your father’s sons shall bow down to you.
Judah is a lion’s
whelp: from the prey, my son, thou art gone up: he
stooped down, he
couched as a lion, and as an old lion; who
shall rouse him up?
Judah is a young lion— my son, you return from the prey. Like a lion he crouches and lies down; like a
lioness, who
dares to
rouse him?
The
sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a
lawgiver from between his feet, until
Shiloh come; and unto him
shall the gathering of the people be.
The
scepter will not depart from Judah, nor the staff from between his feet, until
Shiloh comes and the allegiance of the nations is his.
His eyes shall be red with wine, and his teeth white with milk.
His eyes are darker than wine, and his teeth are whiter than milk.
Zebulun shall dwell at the
haven of the sea; and he
shall be for an
haven of ships; and his border
shall be unto Zidon.
Dan shall judge his people, as one of the tribes of Israel.
Dan shall provide justice for his people as one of the tribes of Israel.
Dan shall be a serpent by the way, an adder in the path, that biteth the horse heels, so that his rider
shall fall backward.
He will be a
snake by the road, a
viper in the path that bites the horse’s heels so that its rider tumbles backward.
Gad, a
troop shall overcome him: but he
shall overcome at the last.
Gad will be attacked by raiders, but he will attack their heels.
Out of Asher his bread
shall be fat, and he
shall yield royal
dainties.
Asher’s food will be rich; he
shall provide royal
delicacies.
Even by the God of thy father, who
shall help thee; and by the
Almighty, who
shall bless thee with blessings of heaven above, blessings of the deep that lieth under, blessings of the breasts, and of the
womb:
by the God of your father who helps you, and by the
Almighty who blesses you, with blessings of the heavens above, with blessings of the depths below, with blessings of the breasts and
womb.
The blessings of thy father have prevailed above the blessings of my progenitors unto the utmost bound of the
everlasting hills: they
shall be on the head of Joseph, and on the crown of the head of him that was separate from his brethren.
The blessings of your father have surpassed the blessings of the ancient mountains and the
bounty of the
everlasting hills. May they rest on the head of Joseph, on the
brow of the prince of his brothers.
Benjamin
shall ravin as a wolf: in the morning he
shall devour the prey, and at night he
shall divide the
spoil.
Benjamin is a
ravenous wolf; in the morning he devours the prey, in the evening he divides the
plunder.”
My father made me
swear, saying, Lo, I die: in my grave which I have
digged for me in the land of
Canaan, there
shalt thou
bury me. Now therefore let me go up, I pray thee, and
bury my father, and I will come again.
my father made me
swear an oath when he said, ‘I am about to die. You must
bury me in the tomb that I
dug for myself in the land of
Canaan.’ Now let me go and
bury my father, and then return.”
So
shall ye say unto Joseph,
Forgive, I pray thee now, the
trespass of thy brethren, and their sin; for they did unto thee evil: and now, we pray thee,
forgive the
trespass of the servants of the God of thy father. And Joseph
wept when they spake unto him.
‘This is what you are to say to Joseph: I
beg you, please
forgive the
transgression and sin of your brothers, for they did you wrong.’ So now, Joseph, please
forgive the
transgression of the servants of the God of your father.” When their message came to him, Joseph
wept.
And Joseph took an oath of the children of Israel, saying, God will surely visit you, and ye shall carry up my bones from hence.
And Joseph made the sons of Israel take an oath and said, “God will surely attend to you, and then you must carry my bones up from this place.”
And he said, When ye do the office of a
midwife to the Hebrew women, and see them upon the stools; if it be a son, then ye
shall kill him: but if it be a daughter, then she
shall live.
“When you help the Hebrew women give birth, observe them on the birthstools. If the child is a son, kill him; but if it is a daughter, let her live.”
And Pharaoh charged all his people, saying, Every son that is born ye shall cast into the river, and every daughter ye shall save alive.
Then Pharaoh commanded all his people: “Every son born to the Hebrews you must throw into the Nile, but every daughter you may allow to live.”
Then said his sister to Pharaoh’s daughter,
Shall I go and call to thee a
nurse of the Hebrew women, that she may
nurse the child for thee?
Then his sister said to Pharaoh’s daughter, “
Shall I go and call one of the Hebrew women to
nurse the child for you?”
And he said, Certainly I will be with thee; and this
shall be a
token unto thee, that I have sent thee: When thou hast brought forth the people out of Egypt, ye
shall serve God upon this mountain.
“I will surely be with you,” God said, “and this will be the sign to you that I have sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, all of you will worship God on this mountain.”
And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them?
Then Moses asked God, “Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is His name?’ What should I tell them?”
And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.
God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I AM has sent me to you.’”
And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus
shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my
memorial unto all generations.
God also told Moses, “Say to the Israelites, ‘The LORD, the God of your fathers—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob—has sent me to you.’ This is My name
forever, and this is how I am to be remembered in every generation.
And they
shall hearken to thy voice: and thou
shalt come, thou and the elders of Israel, unto the king of Egypt, and ye
shall say unto him, The LORD God of the Hebrews hath met with us: and now let us go, we
beseech thee, three days’ journey into the wilderness, that we may sacrifice to the LORD our God.
The elders of Israel will
listen to what you say, and you must go with them to the king of Egypt and tell him, ‘The LORD, the God of the Hebrews, has met with us. Now please let us take a three-day journey into the wilderness, so that we may sacrifice to the LORD our God.’
And I will give this people favour in the sight of the Egyptians: and it shall come to pass, that, when ye go, ye shall not go empty:
And I will grant this people such favor in the sight of the Egyptians that when you leave, you will not go away empty-handed.
But every woman
shall borrow of her neighbour, and of her that sojourneth in her house, jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and
raiment: and ye
shall put them upon your sons, and upon your daughters; and ye
shall spoil the Egyptians.
Every woman
shall ask her
neighbor and any woman staying in her house for silver and gold
jewelry and clothing, and you will put them on your sons and daughters. So you will
plunder the Egyptians.”
And it
shall come to pass, if they will not believe thee, neither
hearken to the voice of the first sign, that they will believe the voice of the latter sign.
And the LORD said, “If they refuse to believe you or
heed the witness of the first sign, they may believe that of the second.
And it
shall come to pass, if they will not believe also these two signs, neither
hearken unto thy voice, that thou
shalt take of the water of the river, and pour it upon the dry land: and the water which thou takest out of the river
shall become blood upon the dry land.
But if they do not believe even these two signs or
listen to your voice, take some water from the Nile and pour it on the dry ground. Then the water you take from the Nile will become blood on the ground.”
Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say.
Now go! I will help you as you speak, and I will teach you what to say.”
And thou shalt speak unto him, and put words in his mouth: and I will be with thy mouth, and with his mouth, and will teach you what ye shall do.
You are to speak to him and put the words in his mouth. I will help both of you to speak, and I will teach you what to do.
And he
shall be thy
spokesman unto the people: and he
shall be, even he
shall be to thee instead of a mouth, and thou
shalt be to him instead of God.
He will speak to the people for you. He will be your
spokesman, and it will be as if you were God to him.
And thou
shalt take this rod in thine hand,
wherewith thou
shalt do signs.
But take this staff in your hand so you can perform signs with it.”
And the LORD said unto Moses, When thou goest to return into Egypt, see that thou do all those wonders before Pharaoh, which I have put in thine hand: but I will
harden his heart, that he
shall not let the people go.
The LORD
instructed Moses, “When you go back to Egypt, see that you perform before Pharaoh all the wonders that I have put within your power. But I will
harden his heart so that he will not let the people go.
And thou
shalt say unto Pharaoh, Thus saith the LORD, Israel is my son, even my
firstborn:
Then tell Pharaoh that this is what the LORD says: ‘Israel is My
firstborn son,
Ye
shall no more give the people straw to make brick, as
heretofore: let them go and gather straw for themselves.
“You shall no longer supply the people with straw for making bricks. They must go and gather their own straw.
And the tale of the bricks, which they did make
heretofore, ye
shall lay upon them; ye
shall not diminish ought thereof: for they be idle; therefore they cry, saying, Let us go and sacrifice to our God.
But require of them the same
quota of bricks as before; do not reduce it. For they are
lazy; that is why they are crying out, ‘Let us go and sacrifice to our God.’
Go ye, get you straw where ye can find it: yet not ought of your work shall be diminished.
Go and get your own straw wherever you can find it; but your workload will in no way be reduced.’”
Go therefore now, and work; for there shall no straw be given you, yet shall ye deliver the tale of bricks.
Now get to work. You will be given no straw, yet you must deliver the full
quota of bricks.”
And the officers of the children of Israel did see that they were in evil case, after it was said, Ye
shall not
minish ought from your bricks of your daily task.
The
Israelite foremen realized they were in trouble when they were told, “You must not reduce your daily
quota of bricks.”
Then the LORD said unto Moses, Now shalt thou see what I will do to Pharaoh: for with a strong hand shall he let them go, and with a strong hand shall he drive them out of his land.
But the LORD said to Moses, “Now you will see what I will do to Pharaoh, for because of My mighty hand he will let the people go; because of My strong hand he will drive them out of his land.”
And I will take you to me for a people, and I will be to you a God: and ye shall know that I am the LORD your God, which bringeth you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians.
I will take you as My own people, and I will be your God. Then you will know that I am the LORD your God, who brought you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians.
And Moses spake before the LORD, saying, Behold, the children of Israel have not
hearkened unto me; how then
shall Pharaoh hear me, who am of
uncircumcised lips?
But in the LORD’s presence Moses replied, “If the Israelites will not
listen to me, then why would Pharaoh
listen to me, since I am unskilled in speech?”
And Moses said before the LORD, Behold, I am of
uncircumcised lips, and how
shall Pharaoh
hearken unto me?
But in the LORD’s presence Moses replied, “Since I am unskilled in speech, why would Pharaoh
listen to me?”
And the LORD said unto Moses, See, I have made thee a god to Pharaoh: and Aaron thy brother shall be thy prophet.
The LORD answered Moses, “See, I have made you like God to Pharaoh, and your brother Aaron will be your prophet.
Thou shalt speak all that I command thee: and Aaron thy brother shall speak unto Pharaoh, that he send the children of Israel out of his land.
You are to speak all that I command you, and your brother Aaron is to tell Pharaoh to let the Israelites go out of his land.
But Pharaoh
shall not
hearken unto you, that I may lay my hand upon Egypt, and bring forth mine armies, and my people the children of Israel, out of the land of Egypt by great judgments.
Pharaoh will not
listen to you. Then I will lay My hand on Egypt, and by mighty acts of judgment I will bring the divisions of My people the Israelites out of the land of Egypt.
And the Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD, when I stretch forth mine hand upon Egypt, and bring out the children of Israel from among them.
And the Egyptians will know that I am the LORD, when I stretch out My hand against Egypt and bring the Israelites out from among them.”
When Pharaoh
shall speak unto you, saying,
Shew a
miracle for you: then thou
shalt say unto Aaron, Take thy rod, and cast it before Pharaoh, and it
shall become a serpent.
“When Pharaoh tells you, ‘Perform a
miracle,’ you are to say to Aaron, ‘Take your staff and throw it down before Pharaoh,’ and it will become a serpent.”
Get thee unto Pharaoh in the morning; lo, he goeth out unto the water; and thou
shalt stand by the river’s
brink against he come; and the rod which was turned to a serpent
shalt thou take in thine hand.
Go to Pharaoh in the morning as you see him walking out to the water. Wait on the bank of the Nile to meet him, and take in your hand the staff that was changed into a
snake.
And thou shalt say unto him, The LORD God of the Hebrews hath sent me unto thee, saying, Let my people go, that they may serve me in the wilderness: and, behold, hitherto thou wouldest not hear.
Then say to him, ‘The LORD, the God of the Hebrews, has sent me to tell you: Let My people go, so that they may worship Me in the wilderness. But you have not
listened until now.
Thus saith the LORD, In this thou
shalt know that I am the LORD: behold, I will
smite with the rod that is in mine hand upon the waters which are in the river, and they
shall be turned to blood.
This is what the LORD says: By this you will know that I am the LORD. Behold, with the staff in my hand I will strike the water of the Nile, and it will turn to blood.
And the fish that is in the river
shall die, and the river
shall stink; and the Egyptians
shall lothe to drink of the water of the river.
The fish in the Nile will die, the river will
stink, and the Egyptians will be unable to drink its water.’”
And the river
shall bring forth frogs abundantly, which
shall go up and come into thine house, and into thy
bedchamber, and upon thy bed, and into the house of thy servants, and upon thy people, and into thine ovens, and into thy kneadingtroughs:
The Nile will
teem with frogs, and they will come into your palace and up to your
bedroom and
onto your bed, into the houses of your officials and your people, and into your ovens and
kneading bowls.
And the frogs shall come up both on thee, and upon thy people, and upon all thy servants.
The frogs will come up on you and your people and all your officials.’”
And Moses said unto Pharaoh, Glory over me: when shall I intreat for thee, and for thy servants, and for thy people, to destroy the frogs from thee and thy houses, that they may remain in the river only?
Moses said to Pharaoh, “You may have the honor over me. When shall I pray for you and your officials and your people that the frogs (except for those in the Nile) may be taken away from you and your houses?”
And the frogs shall depart from thee, and from thy houses, and from thy servants, and from thy people; they shall remain in the river only.
The frogs will depart from you and your houses and your officials and your people; they will remain only in the Nile.”
Else, if thou
wilt not let my people go, behold, I will send swarms of
flies upon thee, and upon thy servants, and upon thy people, and into thy houses: and the houses of the Egyptians
shall be full of swarms of
flies, and also the ground
whereon they are.
But if you will not let My people go, I will send swarms of
flies upon you and your officials and your people and your houses. The houses of the Egyptians and even the ground where they stand will be full of
flies.
And I will
sever in that day the land of
Goshen, in which my people dwell, that no swarms of
flies shall be there; to the end thou mayest know that I am the LORD in the midst of the earth.
But on that day I will give special treatment to the land of
Goshen, where My people live; no swarms of
flies will be found there. In this way you will know that I, the LORD, am in the land.
And I will put a division between my people and thy people: to
morrow shall this sign be.
I will make a distinction between My people and your people. This sign will take place
tomorrow.’”
And Moses said, It is not meet so to do; for we
shall sacrifice the
abomination of the Egyptians to the LORD our God: lo,
shall we sacrifice the
abomination of the Egyptians before their eyes, and will they not stone us?
But Moses replied, “It would not be right to do that, because the sacrifices we offer to the LORD our God would be
detestable to the Egyptians. If we offer sacrifices that are
detestable before the Egyptians, will they not stone us?
We will go three days’ journey into the wilderness, and sacrifice to the LORD our God, as he shall command us.
We must make a three-day journey into the wilderness and sacrifice to the LORD our God as He commands us.”
And Pharaoh said, I will let you go, that ye may sacrifice to the LORD your God in the wilderness; only ye shall not go very far away: intreat for me.
Pharaoh answered, “I will let you go and sacrifice to the LORD your God in the wilderness, but you must not go very far. Now pray for me.”
Behold, the hand of the LORD is upon thy cattle which is in the field, upon the horses, upon the
asses, upon the camels, upon the oxen, and upon the sheep: there
shall be a very
grievous murrain.
then the hand of the LORD will bring a severe plague on your
livestock in the field—on your horses,
donkeys, camels, herds, and flocks.
And the LORD
shall sever between the cattle of Israel and the cattle of Egypt: and there
shall nothing die of all that is the children’s of Israel.
But the LORD will make a distinction between the
livestock of Israel and the
livestock of Egypt, so that no animal belonging to the Israelites will die.’”
And the LORD appointed a set time, saying, To
morrow the LORD
shall do this thing in the land.
The LORD set a time, saying, “
Tomorrow the LORD will do this in the land.”
And it
shall become small dust in all the land of Egypt, and
shall be a
boil breaking forth with blains upon man, and upon beast, throughout all the land of Egypt.
It will become fine dust over all the land of Egypt, and
festering boils will break out on man and beast throughout the land.”
For now I will stretch out my hand, that I may
smite thee and thy people with
pestilence; and thou
shalt be cut off from the earth.
For by this time I could have stretched out My hand and struck you and your people with a plague to
wipe you off the earth.
Send therefore now, and gather thy cattle, and all that thou hast in the field; for upon every man and beast which
shall be found in the field, and
shall not be brought home, the
hail shall come down upon them, and they
shall die.
So give orders now to shelter your
livestock and everything you have in the field. Every man or beast that remains in the field and is not brought inside will die when the
hail comes down upon them.’”
Intreat the LORD (for it is enough) that there be no more mighty thunderings and
hail; and I will let you go, and ye
shall stay no longer.
Pray to the LORD, for there has been enough of God’s
thunder and
hail. I will let you go; you do not need to stay any longer.”
And Moses said unto him, As soon as I am gone out of the city, I will spread abroad my hands unto the LORD; and the
thunder shall cease, neither
shall there be any more
hail; that thou mayest know how that the earth is the LORD’S.
Moses said to him, “When I have left the city, I will spread out my hands to the LORD. The
thunder will cease, and there will be no more
hail, so that you may know that the earth is the LORD’s.
And they
shall cover the face of the earth, that one cannot be able to see the earth: and they
shall eat the residue of that which is escaped, which remaineth unto you from the
hail, and
shall eat every tree which groweth for you out of the field:
They will cover the face of the land so that no one can see it. They will
devour whatever is left after the
hail and eat every tree that grows in your fields.
And they shall fill thy houses, and the houses of all thy servants, and the houses of all the Egyptians; which neither thy fathers, nor thy fathers’ fathers have seen, since the day that they were upon the earth unto this day. And he turned himself, and went out from Pharaoh.
They will fill your houses and the houses of all your officials and every Egyptian—something neither your fathers nor your grandfathers have seen since the day they came into this land.’” Then Moses turned and left Pharaoh’s presence.
And Pharaoh’s servants said unto him, How long
shall this man be a
snare unto us? let the men go, that they may serve the LORD their God: knowest thou not yet that Egypt is destroyed?
Pharaoh’s officials asked him, “How long will this man be a
snare to us? Let the people go, so that they may worship the LORD their God. Do you not yet
realize that Egypt is in ruins?”
And Moses and Aaron were brought again unto Pharaoh: and he said unto them, Go, serve the LORD your God: but who are they that shall go?
So Moses and Aaron were brought back to Pharaoh. “Go, worship the LORD your God,” he said. “But who exactly will be going?”
And the locusts went up over all the land of Egypt, and rested in all the coasts of Egypt: very
grievous were they; before them there were no such locusts as they, neither after them
shall be such.
The locusts
swarmed across the land and settled over the entire territory of Egypt. Never before had there been so many locusts, and never again will there be.
Our cattle also
shall go with us; there
shall not an
hoof be left behind; for thereof must we take to serve the LORD our God; and we know not with what we must serve the LORD, until we come thither.
Even our
livestock must go with us; not a
hoof will be left behind, for we will need some of them to worship the LORD our God, and we will not know how we are to worship the LORD until we arrive.”
And Pharaoh said unto him, Get thee from me, take
heed to
thyself, see my face no more; for in that day thou seest my face thou
shalt die.
“Depart from me!” Pharaoh said to Moses. “Make sure you never see my face again, for on the day you see my face, you will die.”
And the LORD said unto Moses, Yet will I bring one plague more upon Pharaoh, and upon Egypt; afterwards he will let you go hence: when he shall let you go, he shall surely thrust you out hence altogether.
Then the LORD said to Moses, “I will bring upon Pharaoh and Egypt one more plague. After that, he will allow you to leave this place. And when he lets you go, he will drive you out completely.
and every
firstborn son in the land of Egypt will die, from the
firstborn of Pharaoh who sits on his throne, to the
firstborn of the servant
girl behind the hand mill, as well as the
firstborn of all the cattle.
And there shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt, such as there was none like it, nor shall be like it any more.
Then a great cry will go out over all the land of Egypt. Such an outcry has never been heard before and will never be heard again.
But against any of the children of Israel
shall not a dog move his tongue, against man or beast: that ye may know how that the LORD
doth put a difference between the Egyptians and Israel.
But among all the Israelites, not even a dog will
snarl at man or beast.’ Then you will know that the LORD makes a distinction between Egypt and Israel.
And all these thy servants shall come down unto me, and bow down themselves unto me, saying, Get thee out, and all the people that follow thee: and after that I will go out. And he went out from Pharaoh in a great anger.
And all these officials of yours will come and bow before me, saying, ‘Go, you and all the people who follow you!’ After that, I will depart.” And hot with anger, Moses left Pharaoh’s presence.
And the LORD said unto Moses, Pharaoh
shall not
hearken unto you; that my wonders may be multiplied in the land of Egypt.
The LORD said to Moses, “Pharaoh will not
listen to you, so that My wonders may be multiplied in the land of Egypt.”
This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you.
“This month is the beginning of months for you; it shall be the first month of your year.
Speak ye unto all the congregation of Israel, saying, In the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for an house:
Tell the whole congregation of Israel that on the tenth day of this month each man must select a lamb for his family, one per household.
And if the household be too little for the lamb, let him and his neighbour next unto his house take it according to the number of the souls; every man according to his eating shall make your count for the lamb.
If the household is too small for a whole lamb, they are to share with the nearest
neighbor based on the number of people, and
apportion the lamb accordingly.
Your lamb
shall be without
blemish, a male of the first year: ye
shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats:
Your lamb must be an
unblemished year-old male, and you may take it from the sheep or the goats.
And ye
shall keep it up until the
fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel
shall kill it in the evening.
You must keep it until the
fourteenth day of the month, when the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel will slaughter the animals at
twilight.
And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it.
They are to take some of the blood and put it on the sides and tops of the doorframes of the houses where they eat the lambs.
And they
shall eat the flesh in that night,
roast with fire, and
unleavened bread; and with bitter herbs they
shall eat it.
They are to eat the meat that night,
roasted over the fire, along with
unleavened bread and bitter herbs.
And ye shall let nothing of it remain until the morning; and that which remaineth of it until the morning ye shall burn with fire.
Do not leave any of it until morning; before the morning you must burn up any part that is left over.
And thus
shall ye eat it; with your loins
girded, your
shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and ye
shall eat it in
haste: it is the LORD’S
passover.
This is how you are to eat it: You must be fully dressed for travel, with your
sandals on your feet and your staff in your hand. You are to eat in
haste; it is the LORD’s
Passover.
And the blood
shall be to you for a
token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague
shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I
smite the land of Egypt.
The blood on the houses where you are staying will distinguish them; when I see the blood, I will pass over you. No plague will fall on you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt.
