dove found no rest for the sole of her foot, and she returned unto him into the ark, for the waters were on the face of the whole earth: then he put forth his hand, and took her, and pulled her in unto him into the ark.
But the
dove found no place to rest her foot, and she returned to him in the ark, because the waters were
still covering the surface of all the earth. So he reached out his hand and brought her back inside the ark.

lifeblood still in it.

livestock. Water the sheep and take them back to pasture.”

And it came to pass on the third day, when they were
sore, that two of the sons of Jacob,

Three days later, while they were
still in pain, two of Jacob’s sons (Dinah’s brothers
Simeon and Levi) took their swords, went into the
unsuspecting city, and slaughtered every male.
Later, they set out from

And when they had eaten them up, it could not be known that they had eaten them; but they were
still ill favoured, as at the beginning. So I
awoke.
When they had
devoured them, however, no one could tell that they had done so; their appearance was as
ugly as it had been before. Then I
awoke.
And the famine was
sore in the land.
Now the famine was still severe in the land.
And they said, The man asked us straitly of our state, and of our kindred, saying, Is your father yet alive? have ye another brother? and we told him according to the
tenor of these words: could we certainly know that he would say, Bring your brother down?
They replied, “The man questioned us in detail about ourselves and our family: ‘Is your father still alive? Do you have another brother?’ And we answered him accordingly. How could we possibly know that he would say, ‘Bring your brother here’?”
And he asked them of their
welfare, and said, Is your father well, the old man of whom ye spake? Is he yet alive?
He asked if they were well, and then he asked, “How is your elderly father you told me about? Is he still alive?”
And they answered, Thy servant our father is in good health, he is yet alive. And they bowed down their heads, and made
obeisance.
“Your servant our father is well,” they answered. “He is still alive.” And they bowed down to honor him.

And Joseph said unto his brethren, I am Joseph;
doth my father yet live? And his brethren could not answer him; for they were troubled at his presence.
Joseph said to his brothers, “I am Joseph! Is my father

terrified in his presence.
And told him, saying, Joseph is yet alive, and he is governor over all the land of Egypt. And Jacob’s heart
fainted, for he believed them not.

stunned, for he did not believe them.

And he
hardened Pharaoh’s heart, that he
hearkened not unto them; as the LORD had said.
Still, Pharaoh’s heart was
hardened, and he would not
listen to them, just as the LORD had said.
For if thou refuse to let them go, and
wilt hold them
still,
But if you continue to restrain them and refuse to let them go,
As yet exaltest thou
thyself against my people, that thou
wilt not let them go?
Still, you lord it over My people and do not allow them to go.
But as for thee and thy servants, I know that ye will not yet fear the LORD God.
But as for you and your officials, I know that you still do not fear the LORD our God.”
And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand
still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will
shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever.
But Moses told the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the LORD’s salvation, which He will
accomplish for you
today; for the Egyptians you see
today, you will never see again.
The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.
The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still.”
Fear and
dread shall fall upon them; by the greatness of thine arm they shall be as
still as a stone; till thy people pass over, O LORD, till the people pass over, which thou hast purchased.
and terror and
dread will fall on them. By the power of Your arm they will be as
still as a stone until Your people pass by, O LORD, until the people You have bought pass by.
If her father utterly refuse to give her unto him, he shall pay money according to the
dowry of virgins.
If her father absolutely refuses to give her to him, the man
still must pay an amount comparable to the
bridal price of a virgin.
But the seventh year thou shalt let it rest and lie
still; that the poor of thy people may eat: and what they leave the beasts of the field shall eat. In like manner thou shalt deal with thy
vineyard, and with thy oliveyard.
but in the seventh year you must let it rest and lie
fallow, so that the poor among your people may eat from the field and the wild animals may
consume what they leave. Do the same with your
vineyard and olive
grove.
So they went near, and carried them in their coats out of the camp; as Moses had said.
So they came forward and carried them, still in their tunics, outside the camp, as Moses had directed.
And the man whose hair is fallen off his head, he is
bald; yet is he clean.
Now if a man loses his hair and is
bald, he is
still clean.
And he that hath his hair fallen off from the part of his head toward his face, he is
forehead bald: yet is he clean.
Or if his hairline recedes and he is
bald on his
forehead, he is
still clean.
And if it appear
still in the garment, either in the
warp, or in the
woof, or in any thing of skin; it is a spreading plague: thou shalt burn that wherein the plague is with fire.
Neither shalt thou take a wife to her sister, to
vex her, to uncover her nakedness, beside the other in her life time.
You must not take your wife’s sister as a rival wife and have sexual relations with her while your wife is still alive.
Ye shall not eat any thing with the blood: neither shall ye use
enchantment, nor observe times.
You must not eat anything with blood
still in it. You must not practice
divination or
sorcery.
And ye shall eat old store, and bring forth the old because of the new.
You will still be eating the old supply of grain when you need to clear it out to make room for the new.
And Moses said unto them, Stand still, and I will hear what the LORD will command concerning you.
“Wait here until I find out what the LORD commands concerning you,” Moses replied.
Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If any man of you or of your
posterity shall be unclean by reason of a dead body, or be in a journey
afar off, yet he shall keep the
passover unto the LORD.
“Tell the Israelites: ‘When any one of you or your descendants is unclean because of a dead body, or is away on a journey, he may
still observe the
Passover to the LORD.
But the man that is clean, and is not in a journey, and forbeareth to keep the
passover, even the same soul shall be cut off from among his people: because he brought not the offering of the LORD in his appointed season, that man shall bear his sin.
But if a man who is
ceremonially clean and is not on a journey
still fails to observe the
Passover, he must be cut off from his people, because he did not present the LORD’s offering at its appointed time. That man will bear the consequences of his sin.
And while the flesh was yet between their teeth,
ere it was
chewed, the wrath of the LORD was
kindled against the people, and the LORD
smote the people with a very great plague.
But while the meat was
still between their teeth, before it was
chewed, the anger of the LORD burned against the people, and the LORD struck them with a severe plague.
Let her not be as one dead, of whom the flesh is half consumed when he cometh out of his mother’s
womb.
Please do not let her be like a
stillborn infant whose flesh is half consumed when he comes out of his mother’s
womb.”
And
Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.
Then
Caleb quieted the people before Moses and said, “We must go up and take possession of the land, for we can certainly
conquer it!”
But Joshua the son of
Nun, and
Caleb the son of Jephunneh, which were of the men that went to search the land, lived
still.
Of those men who had gone to
spy out the land, only Joshua son of
Nun and
Caleb son of Jephunneh remained alive.
Whosoever toucheth the dead body of any man that is dead, and purifieth not himself, defileth the tabernacle of the LORD; and that soul shall be cut off from Israel: because the water of separation was not
sprinkled upon him, he shall be unclean; his uncleanness is yet upon him.
Anyone who touches a human
corpse and fails to
purify himself defiles the tabernacle of the LORD. That person must be cut off from Israel. He remains unclean, because the water of
purification has not been
sprinkled on him, and his uncleanness is
still on him.
These are the statutes, which the LORD commanded Moses, between a man and his wife, between the father and his daughter, being yet in her youth in her father’s house.
These are the statutes that the LORD commanded Moses concerning the relationship between a man and his wife, and between a father and a young daughter still in his home.
Every thing that may
abide the fire, ye shall make it go through the fire, and it shall be clean: nevertheless it shall be
purified with the water of separation: and all that abideth not the fire ye shall make go through the water.
everything that can
withstand the fire—must be put through the fire, and it will be clean. But it must
still be
purified with the water of
purification. And everything that cannot
withstand the fire must pass through the water.
For only
Og king of
Bashan remained of the
remnant of giants; behold, his
bedstead was a
bedstead of iron; is it not in
Rabbath of the children of
Ammon? nine cubits was the length thereof, and four cubits the breadth of it, after the
cubit of a man.
(For only
Og king of
Bashan had remained of the
remnant of the
Rephaim. His bed of iron, nine cubits long and four cubits wide, is
still in Rabbah of the
Ammonites.)
For I know thy rebellion, and thy stiff neck: behold, while I am yet alive with you this day, ye have been
rebellious against the LORD; and how much more after my death?
For I know how
rebellious and stiff-necked you are. If you are already rebelling against the LORD while I am
still alive, how much more will you
rebel after my death!
And thou shalt command the priests that bear the ark of the covenant, saying, When ye are come to the
brink of the water of Jordan, ye shall stand
still in Jordan.
Command the priests carrying the ark of the covenant: ‘When you reach the edge of the waters, stand in the Jordan.’”
That the waters which came down from above stood and rose up upon an
heap very far from the city Adam, that is beside Zaretan: and those that came down toward the sea of the plain, even the salt sea, failed, and were cut off: and the people passed over right against
Jericho.
the flowing water stood
still. It backed up as far
upstream as Adam, a city in the area of Zarethan, while the water flowing toward the Sea of the Arabah (the Salt Sea) was completely cut off. So the people crossed over opposite
Jericho.
And Joshua raised up their sons in their place, and these were the ones he
circumcised. Until this time they were
still uncircumcised, since they had not been
circumcised along the way.
Then spake Joshua to the LORD in the day when the LORD delivered up the
Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand thou
still upon
Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon.
On the day that the LORD gave the
Amorites over to the Israelites, Joshua spoke to the LORD in the presence of Israel: “O sun, stand
still over
Gibeon, O moon, over the Valley of
Aijalon.”
And the sun stood
still, and the moon stayed, until the people had
avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood
still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day.
So the sun stood
still and the moon stopped until the nation took
vengeance upon its enemies. Is this not written in the Book of
Jashar? “So the sun stopped in the middle of the sky and delayed going down about a full day.”
But as for the cities that stood still in their strength, Israel burned none of them, save Hazor only; that did Joshua burn.
Yet Israel did not burn any of the cities built on their mounds, except Hazor, which Joshua burned.
As yet I am as strong this day as I was in the day that Moses sent me: as my strength was then, even so is my strength now, for war, both to go out, and to come in.
still as strong
today as I was the day Moses sent me out. As my strength was then, so it is now for war, for going out, and for coming in.
And there remained among the children of Israel seven tribes, which had not yet received their inheritance.
there were still seven tribes of Israel who had not yet received their inheritance.
But I would not
hearken unto
Balaam; therefore he blessed you
still: so I delivered you out of his hand.
but I would not
listen to
Balaam. So he blessed you again and again, and I delivered you from his hand.
And when the LORD raised them up judges, then the LORD was with the judge, and delivered them out of the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge: for it
repented the LORD because of their groanings by reason of them that
oppressed them and
vexed them.
Whenever the LORD raised up a judge for the Israelites, He was with that judge and saved them from the hands of their enemies while the judge was
still alive; for the LORD was moved to
pity by their
groaning under those who
oppressed them and
afflicted them.
And they
tarried till they were
ashamed: and, behold, he opened not the doors of the parlour; therefore they took a key, and opened them: and, behold, their lord was fallen down dead on the earth.
So they waited until they became
worried and saw that he had
still not opened the doors of the upper room. Then they took the key and opened the doors—and there was their lord lying dead on the floor.
At her feet he bowed, he fell, he lay down: at her feet he bowed, he fell: where he bowed, there he fell down dead.
And the LORD said unto
Gideon, The people are yet too many; bring them down unto the water, and I will try them for thee there: and it shall be, that of whom I say unto thee, This shall go with thee, the same shall go with thee; and of
whomsoever I say unto thee, This shall not go with thee, the same shall not go.
Then the LORD said to
Gideon, “There are
still too many people. Take them down to the water, and I will
sift them for you there. If I say to you, ‘This one shall go with you,’ he shall go. But if I say, ‘This one shall not go with you,’ he shall not go.”
And
Gideon came to Jordan, and passed over, he, and the three hundred men that were with him,
faint, yet pursuing them.
Then
Gideon and his three hundred men came to the Jordan and crossed it, exhausted yet
still in pursuit.
And he said unto the men of Succoth, Give, I pray you,
loaves of bread unto the people that follow me; for they be
faint, and I am pursuing after Zebah and Zalmunna, kings of
Midian.
So
Gideon said to the men of Succoth, “Please give my troops some bread, for they are exhausted, and I am
still pursuing Zebah and Zalmunna, the kings of
Midian.”
And he said unto Jether his
firstborn, Up, and
slay them. But the youth drew not his sword: for he feared, because he was yet a youth.
So he said to Jether, his
firstborn, “Get up and kill them.” But the young man did not draw his sword; he was fearful because he was
still a youth.
And they said, Arise, that we may go up against them: for we have seen the land, and, behold, it is very good: and are ye
still? be not
slothful to go, and to enter to possess the land.
They answered, “Come on, let us go up against them, for we have seen the land, and it is very good. Why would you fail to act? Do not
hesitate to go there and take possession of the land!
And
Naomi said, Turn again, my daughters: why will ye go with me? are there yet any more sons in my
womb, that they may be your husbands?
But
Naomi replied, “Return home, my daughters. Why would you go with me? Are there
still sons in my
womb to become your husbands?
Then said she, Sit still, my daughter, until thou know how the matter will fall: for the man will not be in rest, until he have finished the thing this day.
“Wait, my daughter,” said
Naomi, “until you find out how things go, for he will not rest unless he has resolved the matter
today.”
And when she had
weaned him, she took him up with her, with three bullocks, and one
ephah of flour, and a
bottle of wine, and brought him unto the house of the LORD in
Shiloh: and the child was young.
Once she had
weaned him,
Hannah took the boy with her, along with a three-year-old bull, an
ephah of flour, and a skin of wine. Though the boy was
still young, she brought him to the house of the LORD at
Shiloh.
And he passed through mount Ephraim, and passed through the land of Shalisha, but they found them not: then they passed through the land of Shalim, and there they were not: and he passed through the land of the Benjamites, but they found them not.
So Saul passed through the hill country of Ephraim and then through the land of Shalishah, but did not find the
donkeys. He and the servant went through the region of Shaalim, but they were not there. Then they went through the land of Benjamin, and
still they did not find them.
And as they were going down to the end of the city, Samuel said to Saul,
Bid the servant pass on before us, (and he passed on,) but stand thou
still a while, that I may
shew thee the word of God.
As they were going down to the edge of the city, Samuel said to Saul, “Tell the servant to go on
ahead of us, but you stay for a while, and I will
reveal to you the word of God.” So the servant went on.
Now therefore stand still, that I may reason with you before the LORD of all the righteous acts of the LORD, which he did to you and to your fathers.
Now present
yourselves, so that I may
confront you before the LORD with all the righteous acts He has done for you and your fathers.
But if ye shall still do wickedly, ye shall be consumed, both ye and your king.
But if you
persist in doing evil, both you and your king will be swept away.”
If they say thus unto us,
Tarry until we come to you; then we will stand
still in our place, and will not go up unto them.
If they say, ‘Wait until we come to you,’ then we will stay where we are and will not go up to them.
And the people
flew upon the
spoil, and took sheep, and oxen, and
calves, and
slew them on the ground: and the people did eat them with the blood.
So they
rushed greedily to the
plunder, taking sheep, cattle, and
calves. They slaughtered them on the ground and
ate meat with the blood
still in it.
Then they told Saul, saying, Behold, the people sin against the LORD, in that they eat with the blood. And he said, Ye have
transgressed: roll a great stone unto me this day.
Then someone reported to Saul: “Look, the troops are
sinning against the LORD by eating meat with the blood
still in it.” “You have broken faith,” said Saul. “Roll a large stone over here at once.”
And Saul said,
Disperse yourselves among the people, and say unto them, Bring me
hither every man his ox, and every man his sheep, and
slay them here, and eat; and sin not against the LORD in eating with the blood. And all the people brought every man his ox with him that night, and
slew them there.
Then he said, “Go among the troops and tell them, ‘Each man must bring me his ox or his sheep, slaughter them in this place, and then eat. Do not sin against the LORD by eating meat with the blood
still in it.’” So that night
everyone brought his ox and slaughtered it there.
And Samuel said unto
Jesse, Are here all thy children? And he said, There remaineth yet the youngest, and, behold, he keepeth the sheep. And Samuel said unto
Jesse, Send and
fetch him: for we will not sit down till he come
hither.
And Samuel asked him, “Are these all the sons you have?” “There is
still the youngest,”
Jesse replied, “but he is tending the sheep.” “Send for him,” Samuel replied. “For we will not sit down to eat until he arrives.”
And as David returned from the slaughter of the
Philistine,
Abner took him, and brought him before Saul with the head of the
Philistine in his hand.
So when David returned from killing the
Philistine,
still holding his head in his hand,
Abner took him and brought him before Saul.
And it came to pass on the
morrow, which was the second day of the month, that David’s place was empty: and Saul said unto
Jonathan his son, Wherefore cometh not the son of
Jesse to meat, neither
yesterday, nor to day?
But on the day after the New Moon, the second day, David’s place was
still empty, and Saul asked his son
Jonathan, “Why hasn’t the son of
Jesse come to the meal either
yesterday or
today?”
Then Saul said to David, Blessed be thou, my son David: thou shalt both do great things, and also shalt still prevail. So David went on his way, and Saul returned to his place.
Saul said to him, “May you be blessed, David my son. You will
accomplish great things and will surely prevail.” So David went on his way, and Saul returned home.
Then Achish gave him
Ziklag that day: wherefore
Ziklag pertaineth unto the kings of Judah unto this day.
That day Achish gave him
Ziklag, and to this day it
still belongs to the kings of Judah.
And he said unto me again, Stand, I pray thee, upon me, and
slay me: for
anguish is come upon me, because my life is yet whole in me.
Then he
begged me, ‘Stand over me and kill me, for
agony has seized me, but my life
still lingers.’
Howbeit he refused to turn aside: wherefore
Abner with the hinder end of the
spear smote him under the fifth rib, that the
spear came out behind him; and he fell down there, and died in the same place: and it came to pass, that as many as came to the place where
Asahel fell down and died stood
still.
But
Asahel refused to turn away; so
Abner thrust the
butt of his
spear into his stomach, and it came out his back, and he fell dead on the spot. And every man
paused when he came to the place where
Asahel had fallen and died.
So
Joab blew a
trumpet, and all the people stood
still, and pursued after Israel no more, neither fought they any more.
So
Joab blew the ram’s horn, and all the troops stopped; they no longer pursued Israel or continued to fight.
And when all the people came to cause David to eat meat while it was yet day, David
sware, saying, So do God to me, and more also, if I taste bread, or ought else, till the sun be down.
Then all the people came and urged David to eat something while it was
still day, but David took an oath, saying, “May God
punish me, and ever so severely, if I taste bread or anything else before the sun sets!”
And the king said, Is there not yet any of the house of Saul, that I may
shew the kindness of God unto him? And Ziba said unto the king,
Jonathan hath yet a son, which is
lame on his feet.
So the king asked, “Is there
anyone left of Saul’s family to whom I can show the kindness of God?” Ziba answered, “There is
still Jonathan’s son, who is
lame in both feet.”
And it came to pass, after the year was
expired, at the time when kings go forth to battle, that David sent
Joab, and his servants with him, and all Israel; and they destroyed the children of
Ammon, and besieged Rabbah. But David
tarried still at Jerusalem.
In the spring, at the time when kings march out to war, David sent out
Joab and his servants with the whole army of Israel. They destroyed the
Ammonites and besieged Rabbah, but David remained in Jerusalem.
Therefore
Absalom sent for
Joab, to have sent him to the king; but he would not come to him: and when he sent again the second time, he would not come.
Then he sent for
Joab to send him to the king, but
Joab refused to come to him. So
Absalom sent a second time, but
Joab still would not come.
And
Absalom answered
Joab, Behold, I sent unto thee, saying, Come
hither, that I may send thee to the king, to say, Wherefore am I come from Geshur? it had been good for me to have been there
still: now therefore let me see the king’s face; and if there be any iniquity in me, let him kill me.
“Look,” said
Absalom, “I sent for you and said, ‘Come here. I want to send you to the king to ask: Why have I come back from Geshur? It would be better for me if I were
still there.’ So now, let me see the king’s face, and if there is iniquity in me, let him kill me.”
And when king David came to Bahurim, behold, thence came out a man of the family of the house of Saul, whose name was Shimei, the son of
Gera: he came forth, and
cursed still as he came.
As King David approached Bahurim, a man from the family of the house of Saul was just coming out. His name was Shimei son of
Gera, and as he approached, he kept
yelling out curses.
Then said
Joab, I may not
tarry thus with thee. And he took three darts in his hand, and thrust them through the heart of
Absalom, while he was yet alive in the midst of the oak.
But
Joab declared, “I am not going to wait like this with you!” And he took three spears in his hand and thrust them through the heart of
Absalom while he was
still alive in the oak tree.
And the king said unto him, Turn aside, and stand here. And he turned aside, and stood still.
“Move aside,” said the king, “and stand here.” So he
stepped aside.
I am this day
fourscore years old: and can I
discern between good and evil? can thy servant taste what I eat or what I drink? can I hear any more the voice of singing men and singing women? wherefore then should thy servant be yet a burden unto my lord the king?
I am now eighty years old. Can I
discern what is good and what is not? Can your servant taste what he eats or drinks? Can I
still hear the voice of singing men and women? Why should your servant be an added burden to my lord the king?
And
Amasa wallowed in blood in the midst of the
highway. And when the man saw that all the people stood
still, he removed
Amasa out of the
highway into the field, and cast a cloth upon him, when he saw that every one that came by him stood
still.
But
Amasa wallowed in his blood in the middle of the road, and when the man saw that all the troops were
stopping there, he
dragged the body off the road into a field and threw a garment over it.
And there was yet a battle in
Gath, where was a man of great
stature, that had on every hand six fingers, and on every foot six toes, four and twenty in number; and he also was born to the
giant.
And there was
still another battle at
Gath, where there was a man of great
stature with six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot—twenty-four in all. He too was descended from Rapha,
Behold, while thou yet talkest there with the king, I also will come in after thee, and
confirm thy words.
Then, while you are
still there speaking with the king, I will come in after you and
confirm your words.”
And, lo, while she yet talked with the king,
Nathan the prophet also came in.
And just then, while Bathsheba was
still speaking with the king,
Nathan the prophet arrived.
Only the people sacrificed in high places, because there was no house built unto the name of the LORD, until those days.
The people, however, were still sacrificing on the high places because a house for the Name of the LORD had not yet been built.
That
Hadad fled, he and certain Edomites of his father’s servants with him, to go into Egypt;
Hadad being yet a little child.
But
Hadad,
still just a young boy, had fled to Egypt, along with some Edomites who were servants of his father.
And it came to pass, when
Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who was yet in Egypt, heard of it, (for he was fled from the presence of king Solomon, and
Jeroboam dwelt in Egypt;)
When
Jeroboam son of Nebat heard about this, he was
still in Egypt where he had fled from King Solomon and had been living ever since.
But as for the children of Israel which dwelt in the cities of Judah,
Rehoboam reigned over them.
but
Rehoboam still reigned over the Israelites living in the cities of Judah.
