And I will put
enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall
bruise thy head, and thou shalt
bruise his
heel.
And I will put
enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed. He will
crush your head, and you will
strike his
heel.”

smite Egypt with all my wonders which I will do in the midst thereof: and after that he will let you go.
So I will stretch out My hand and strike the Egyptians with all the wonders I will perform among them. And after that, he will release you.
And they said, The God of the Hebrews hath met with us: let us go, we pray thee, three days’ journey into the desert, and sacrifice unto the LORD our God; lest he fall upon us with
pestilence, or with the sword.
“The God of the Hebrews has met with us,” they answered. “Please let us go on a three-day journey into the wilderness to sacrifice to the LORD our God, or He may strike us with plagues or with the sword.”

smite the dust of the land, that it may become
lice throughout all the land of Egypt.

smite all the

strike down every
firstborn male, both man and beast, and I will
execute judgment against all the gods of Egypt. I am the LORD.
And the blood shall be to you for a
token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I
smite the land of Egypt.

And ye shall take a
bunch of
hyssop, and dip it in the blood that is in the
bason, and
strike the
lintel and the two side posts with the blood that is in the
bason; and none of you shall go out at the door of his house until the morning.

cluster of
hyssop, dip it into the blood in the basin, and

For the LORD will pass through to
smite the Egyptians; and when he
seeth the blood upon the
lintel, and on the two side posts, the LORD will pass over the door, and will not suffer the destroyer to come in unto your houses to
smite you.
When the LORD passes through to
strike down the Egyptians, He will see the blood on the top and sides of the doorframe and will pass over that
doorway; so He will not allow the destroyer to enter your houses and
strike you down.

Horeb. And when you
strike the rock, water will come out of it for the people to drink.” So Moses did this in the sight of the elders of Israel.

strive together, and one
smite another with a stone, or with his

strikes the other with a stone or a
fist, and he does not die but is confined to bed,
And if a man
smite his servant, or his
maid, with a rod, and he die under his hand; he shall be surely punished.

And if a man
smite the eye of his servant, or the eye of his
maid, that it perish; he shall let him go free for his eye’s sake.

strikes and blinds the eye of his
manservant or
maidservant, he must let the servant go free as compensation for the eye.
Then will I also walk contrary unto you, and will
punish you yet seven times for your sins.
then I will act with hostility toward you, and I will
strike you
sevenfold for your sins.

nigh: there shall come a Star out of Jacob, and a
Sceptre shall rise out of Israel, and shall
smite the corners of Moab, and destroy all the children of
Sheth.
I see him, but not now; I behold him, but not near. A star will come forth from Jacob, and a
scepter will arise from Israel. He will
crush the skulls of Moab and
strike down all the sons of
Sheth.
“Attack the Midianites and strike them dead.
And if he
smite him with an instrument of iron, so that he die, he is a murderer: the murderer shall surely be put to death.
If, however,
anyone strikes a person with an iron object and kills him, he is a murderer; the murderer must surely be put to death.
And if he
smite him with throwing a stone,
wherewith he may die, and he die, he is a murderer: the murderer shall surely be put to death.
Or if
anyone has in his hand a stone of deadly size, and he
strikes and kills another, he is a murderer; the murderer must surely be put to death.
Or if he
smite him with an hand weapon of wood,
wherewith he may die, and he die, he is a murderer: the murderer shall surely be put to death.

anyone has in his hand a deadly object of wood, and he
strikes and kills another, he is a murderer; the murderer must surely be put to death.

enmity smite him with his hand, that he die: he that
smote him shall surely be put to death; for he is a murderer: the
revenger of blood shall
slay the murderer, when he meeteth him.
or if in hostility he
strikes him with his hand and he dies, the one who struck him must surely be put to death; he is a murderer. When the
avenger of blood finds the murderer, he is to kill him.
As when a man goeth into the wood with his neighbour to
hew wood, and his hand fetcheth a stroke with the
axe to cut down the tree, and the head slippeth from the
helve, and lighteth upon his neighbour, that he die; he shall
flee unto one of those cities, and live:
If he goes into the forest with his
neighbor to cut timber and swings his
axe to
chop down a tree, but the
blade flies off the handle and
strikes and kills his
neighbor, he may
flee to one of these cities to save his life.
Lest the
avenger of the blood pursue the
slayer, while his heart is hot, and overtake him, because the way is long, and
slay him; whereas he was not worthy of death, inasmuch as he
hated him not in time past.
Otherwise, the
avenger of blood might pursue the
manslayer in a
rage, overtake him if the distance is great, and
strike him dead though he did not deserve to die, since he did not intend any
harm.
And the elders of that city shall bring down the
heifer unto a rough valley, which is neither eared nor sown, and shall
strike off the
heifer’s neck there in the valley:
bring the
heifer to a valley with running water that has not been
plowed or sown, and break its neck there by the stream.

Amen.

strikes down his
neighbor in secret.’ And let all the people say, ‘
Amen!’
The LORD shall
smite thee with a consumption, and with a fever, and with an inflammation, and with an extreme burning, and with the sword, and with blasting, and with
mildew; and they shall pursue thee until thou perish.

strike you with wasting disease, with fever and inflammation, with
scorching heat and
drought, and with
blight and
mildew; these will pursue you until you perish.
The sword without, and terror within, shall destroy both the young man and the virgin, the
suckling also with the man of gray hairs.
Outside, the sword will take their children, and inside, terror will strike the young man and the young woman, the infant and the gray-haired man.
And
Caleb said, He that smiteth Kirjath-sepher, and taketh it, to him will I give Achsah my daughter to wife.

Caleb said, “To the man who
strikes down Kiriath-sepher and captures it, I will give my daughter Acsah in marriage.”
And
Caleb said, He that smiteth Kirjath-sepher, and taketh it, to him will I give Achsah my daughter to wife.

smote him, and delivered it out of his mouth: and when he arose against me, I caught him by his
beard, and
smote him, and
slew him.

grab it by its fur,
strike it down, and kill it.
This day will the LORD deliver thee into mine hand; and I will
smite thee, and take thine head from thee; and I will give the carcases of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.
This day the LORD will deliver you into my hand. This day I will
strike you down, cut off your head, and give the
carcasses of the Philistines to the birds of the air and the creatures of the earth. Then the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel.
And the king said unto the
footmen that stood about him, Turn, and
slay the priests of the LORD; because their hand also is with David, and because they knew when he fled, and did not
shew it to me. But the servants of the king would not put forth their hand to fall upon the priests of the LORD.
Then the king ordered the guards at his side, “Turn and kill the priests of the LORD, because they too sided with David. For they knew he was
fleeing, but they did not tell me.” But the king’s servants would not lift a hand to
strike the priests of the LORD.
And the king said to Doeg, Turn thou, and fall upon the priests. And Doeg the

strike down the priests!” And Doeg the
Edomite turned and struck down the priests himself. On that day he killed eighty-five men who
wore the linen
ephod.
Then said
Abishai to David, God hath delivered thine enemy into thine hand this day: now therefore let me
smite him, I pray thee, with the
spear even to the earth at once, and I will not
smite him the second time.
Abishai said to David, “
Today God has delivered your enemy into your hand. Now, therefore, please let me thrust the
spear through him into the ground with one stroke. I will not need to
strike him twice!”
David said
furthermore, As the LORD liveth, the LORD shall
smite him; or his day shall come to die; or he shall descend into battle, and perish.
David added, “As surely as the LORD lives, the LORD Himself will strike him down; either his day will come and he will die, or he will go into battle and perish.

Abner said again to
Asahel, Turn thee aside from following me: wherefore should I
smite thee to the ground? how then should I hold up my face to
Joab thy brother?
And let it be, when thou hearest the sound of a going in the tops of the
mulberry trees, that then thou shalt
bestir thyself: for then shall the LORD go out before thee, to
smite the host of the Philistines.
As soon as you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the
balsam trees, move quickly, because this will mean that the LORD has marched out before you to
strike the camp of the Philistines.”
Who
smote Abimelech the son of Jerubbesheth? did not a woman cast a piece of a
millstone upon him from the wall, that he died in Thebez? why went ye
nigh the wall? then say thou, Thy servant Uriah the Hittite is dead also.
Who was the one to
strike Abimelech son of Jerubbesheth? Was it not a woman who dropped an upper
millstone on him from the wall, so that he died in Thebez? Why did you get so close to the wall?’ If so, then you are to say, ‘Your servant Uriah the Hittite is dead as well.’”
Now
Absalom had commanded his servants, saying, Mark ye now when Amnon’s heart is
merry with wine, and when I say unto you,
Smite Amnon; then kill him, fear not: have not I commanded you? be
courageous and be
valiant.
Now
Absalom had ordered his young men, “Watch Amnon until his heart is
merry with wine, and when I order you to
strike Amnon down, you are to kill him. Do not be afraid. Have I not commanded you? Be
courageous and
valiant!”
And I will come upon him while he is
weary and weak handed, and will make him afraid: and all the people that are with him shall
flee; and I will
smite the king only:
I will attack him while he is weak and
weary; I will throw him into a
panic, and all the people with him will
flee; I will
strike down only the king
And
Joab said unto the man that told him, And, behold, thou sawest him, and why
didst thou not
smite him there to the ground? and I would have given thee ten shekels of silver, and a
girdle.
“You just saw him!”
Joab exclaimed. “Why did you not
strike him to the ground right there? I would have given you ten shekels of silver and a
warrior’s belt!”
But
Amasa took no
heed to the sword that was in
Joab’s hand: so he
smote him
therewith in the fifth rib, and shed out his
bowels to the ground, and struck him not again; and he died. So
Joab and
Abishai his brother pursued after
Sheba the son of Bichri.

strike him down!”
And the king said unto him, Do as he hath said, and fall upon him, and
bury him; that thou mayest take away the innocent blood, which
Joab shed, from me, and from the house of my father.

Strike him down and
bury him, and so remove from me and from the house of my father the innocent blood that
Joab shed.
For the LORD shall
smite Israel, as a reed is
shaken in the water, and he shall root up Israel out of this good land, which he gave to their fathers, and shall
scatter them beyond the river, because they have made their groves,
provoking the LORD to anger.
For the LORD will
strike Israel as a reed is
shaken in the water. He will
uproot Israel from this good land that He gave their fathers, and He will
scatter them beyond the Euphrates, because they have made their Asherah poles,
provoking the LORD to anger.
And a certain man of the sons of the prophets said unto his neighbour in the word of the LORD,
Smite me, I pray thee. And the man refused to
smite him.
Meanwhile, by the word of the LORD, one of the sons of the prophets said to his companion, “Strike me, please!” But the man refused to strike him.
Then he found another man, and said,
Smite me, I pray thee. And the man
smote him, so that in
smiting he wounded him.
Then the prophet found another man and said, “Strike me, please!” So the man struck him and wounded him,
But
Naaman was
wroth, and went away, and said, Behold, I thought, He will surely come out to me, and stand, and call on the name of the LORD his God, and
strike his hand over the place, and recover the
leper.
But
Naaman went away
angry, saying, “I thought that he would surely come out, stand and call on the name of the LORD his God, and wave his hand over the spot to cure my
leprosy.
And when they came down to him,
Elisha prayed unto the LORD, and said,
Smite this people, I pray thee, with blindness. And he
smote them with blindness according to the word of
Elisha.
As the Arameans came down against him,
Elisha prayed to the LORD, “Please
strike these people with blindness.” So He struck them with blindness, according to the word of
Elisha.
And thou shalt
smite the house of
Ahab thy master, that I may
avenge the blood of my servants the prophets, and the blood of all the servants of the LORD, at the hand of
Jezebel.
And you are to
strike down the house of your master
Ahab, so that I may
avenge the blood of My servants the prophets and the blood of all the servants of the LORD shed by the hand of
Jezebel.
And he said, Open the window eastward. And he opened it. Then
Elisha said, Shoot. And he shot. And he said, The
arrow of the LORD’S
deliverance, and the
arrow of
deliverance from Syria: for thou shalt
smite the Syrians in Aphek, till thou have consumed them.
“Open the east window,” said
Elisha. So he opened it and
Elisha said, “Shoot!” So he shot. And
Elisha declared: “This is the LORD’s
arrow of victory, the
arrow of victory over
Aram, for you shall
strike the Arameans in Aphek until you have put an end to them.”
And he said, Take the arrows. And he took them. And he said unto the king of Israel,
Smite upon the ground. And he
smote thrice, and stayed.
Then
Elisha said, “Take the arrows!” So he took them, and
Elisha said to the king of Israel, “
Strike the ground!” So he struck the ground three times and stopped.
And the man of God was
wroth with him, and said, Thou shouldest have
smitten five or six times; then hadst thou
smitten Syria till thou hadst consumed it: whereas now thou shalt
smite Syria but
thrice.
But the man of God was
angry with him and said, “You should have struck the ground five or six times. Then you would have struck down
Aram until you had put an end to it. But now you will
strike down
Aram only three times.”
And David said,
Whosoever smiteth the Jebusites first shall be chief and captain. So
Joab the son of Zeruiah went first up, and was chief.
Now David had said, “
Whoever is the first to
strike down a Jebusite will become chief commander.” And
Joab son of Zeruiah went up first, and he became the chief.
And it shall be, when thou shalt hear a sound of going in the tops of the
mulberry trees, that then thou shalt go out to battle: for God is gone forth before thee to
smite the host of the Philistines.
As soon as you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the
balsam trees, move out to battle, because this will mean that God has marched out before you to
strike the camp of the Philistines.”
Behold, with a great plague will the LORD
smite thy people, and thy children, and thy wives, and all thy goods:
So behold, the LORD is about to strike your people, your sons, your wives, and all your possessions with a serious blow.
But put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will
curse thee to thy face.
But stretch out Your hand and
strike all that he has, and he will surely
curse You to Your face.”
But put forth thine hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will
curse thee to thy face.
But stretch out Your hand and
strike his flesh and bones, and he will surely
curse You to Your face.”
But now it is come upon thee, and thou faintest; it toucheth thee, and thou art troubled.
But now trouble has come upon you, and you are
weary. It
strikes you, and you are dismayed.
For he maketh
sore, and bindeth up: he woundeth, and his hands make whole.
For He wounds, but He also binds; He
strikes, but His hands also
heal.
They open their mouths against me and strike my cheeks with contempt; they join together against me.
Lay down now, put me in a
surety with thee; who is he that will
strike hands with me?
He shall
flee from the iron weapon, and the bow of steel shall
strike him through.
He putteth forth his hand upon the rock; he overturneth the mountains by the roots.
The miner strikes the flint; he overturns mountains at their base.
He striketh them as wicked men in the open sight of others;
He strikes them for their wickedness in full view,
With clouds he covereth the light; and commandeth it not to
shine by the cloud that cometh
betwixt.
He fills His hands with
lightning and commands it to
strike its mark.
Arise, O LORD; save me, O my God: for thou hast
smitten all mine enemies upon the
cheek bone; thou hast broken the teeth of the ungodly.
Arise, O LORD! Save me, O my God! Strike all my enemies on the jaw; break the teeth of the wicked.
To judge the fatherless and the
oppressed, that the man of the earth may no more
oppress.
to
vindicate the fatherless and
oppressed, that the men of the earth may
strike terror no more.
The voice of the LORD divideth the flames of fire.
The voice of the LORD strikes with flames of fire.
And I will beat down his foes before his face, and plague them that
hate him.
I will
crush his foes before him and
strike down those who
hate him.
They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou
dash thy foot against a stone.
They will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
The Lord at thy right hand shall strike through kings in the day of his wrath.
The Lord is at Your right hand; He will
crush kings in the day of His wrath.
The sun shall not
smite thee by day, nor the moon by night.
The sun will not strike you by day, nor the moon by night.
Let the righteous
smite me; it shall be a kindness: and let him reprove me; it shall be an excellent oil, which shall not break my head: for yet my prayer also shall be in their
calamities.
Let the righteous man
strike me; let his
rebuke be an act of loving devotion. It is oil for my head; let me not refuse it. For my prayer is ever against the deeds of the wicked.
Till a
dart strike through his liver; as a bird hasteth to the
snare, and knoweth not that it is for his life.
until an
arrow pierces his liver, like a bird
darting into a
snare— not knowing it will cost him his life.
A man void of understanding
striketh hands, and becometh
surety in the presence of his friend.
A man lacking judgment
strikes hands in
pledge and puts up security for his
neighbor.
Also to
punish the just is not good, nor to
strike princes for
equity.
Smite a
scorner, and the simple will
beware: and reprove one that hath understanding, and he will understand knowledge.
Be not thou one of them that
strike hands, or of them that are
sureties for debts.
Do not be one who gives pledges, who puts up security for debts.
Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die.
Do not
withhold discipline from a child; although you
strike him with a rod, he will not die.
Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from
hell.
Strike him with a rod, and you will deliver his soul from
Sheol.
Therefore thou hast
forsaken thy people the house of Jacob, because they be
replenished from the east, and are soothsayers like the Philistines, and they please themselves in the children of strangers.
For You have abandoned Your people, the house of Jacob, because they are filled with influences from the east; they are soothsayers like the Philistines; they strike hands with the children of foreigners.
Therefore is the anger of the LORD
kindled against his people, and he hath stretched forth his hand against them, and hath
smitten them: and the hills did
tremble, and their carcases were
torn in the midst of the streets. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
Therefore the anger of the LORD burns against His people; His hand is raised against them to
strike them down. The mountains
quake, and the corpses lay like refuse in the streets.
Despite all this, His anger is not turned away; His hand is still upraised.
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD of hosts, O my people that dwellest in
Zion, be not afraid of the Assyrian: he shall
smite thee with a rod, and shall lift up his staff against thee, after the manner of Egypt.
Therefore this is what the Lord GOD of Hosts says: “O My people who dwell in
Zion, do not fear Assyria, who
strikes you with a rod and lifts his staff against you as the Egyptians did.
But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with
equity for the
meek of the earth: and he shall
smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he
slay the wicked.
but with righteousness He will judge the poor, and with
equity He will decide for the lowly of the earth. He will
strike the earth with the rod of His mouth and
slay the wicked with the breath of His lips.
And the LORD shall
smite Egypt: he shall
smite and
heal it: and they shall return even to the LORD, and he shall be intreated of them, and shall
heal them.
And the LORD will
strike Egypt with a plague; He will
strike them but
heal them. They will turn to the LORD, and He will hear their prayers and
heal them.
For through the voice of the LORD shall the Assyrian be beaten down, which
smote with a rod.
For Assyria will be
shattered at the voice of the LORD; He will
strike them with His
scepter.
So the
carpenter encouraged the
goldsmith, and he that smootheth with the hammer him that
smote the
anvil, saying, It is ready for the sodering: and he fastened it with
nails, that it should not be moved.
Behold, ye fast for
strife and
debate, and to
smite with the
fist of wickedness: ye shall not fast as ye do this day, to make your voice to be heard on high.
Wherefore a lion out of the forest shall
slay them, and a wolf of the evenings shall
spoil them, a
leopard shall watch over their cities: every one that goeth out thence shall be
torn in pieces: because their transgressions are many, and their backslidings are increased.
Therefore a lion from the forest will
strike them down, a wolf from the desert will
ravage them. A
leopard will lie in wait near their cities, and
everyone who ventures out will be
torn to pieces. For their
rebellious acts are many, and their unfaithful deeds are numerous.
And I will
smite the inhabitants of this city, both man and beast: they shall die of a great
pestilence.
I will strike down the residents of this city, both man and beast. They will die in a terrible plague.’
They come to fight with the Chaldeans, but it is to fill them with the dead bodies of men, whom I have slain in mine anger and in my
fury, and for all whose wickedness I have
hid my face from this city.
The Chaldeans are coming to fight and to fill those places with the corpses of the men I will strike down in My anger and in My wrath. I have hidden My face from this city because of all its wickedness.
