Berean Standard Bible BSB Bible
Then the glory of the LORD went up from the
cherub, and stood over the
threshold of the house; and the house was filled with the cloud, and the court was full of the brightness of the LORD’S glory.
Then the glory of the LORD rose from above the
cherubim and stood over the
threshold of the
temple. The
temple was filled with the cloud, and the court was filled with the brightness of the glory of the LORD.
Then the glory of the LORD departed from off the
threshold of the house, and stood over the cherubims.
Then the glory of the LORD moved away from the
threshold of the
temple and stood above the
cherubim.
And behold a wall on the outside of the house round about, and in the man’s hand a measuring reed of six cubits long by the
cubit and an hand breadth: so he measured the breadth of the building, one reed; and the height, one reed.
And I saw a wall surrounding the
temple area. Now the length of the measuring rod in the man’s hand was six long cubits (each measuring a
cubit and a
handbreadth), and he measured the wall to be one rod thick and one rod high.
Then measured he the
porch of the gate, eight cubits; and the posts thereof, two cubits; and the
porch of the gate was inward.
it was eight cubits deep, and its jambs were two cubits thick. And the
portico of the
gateway faced the
temple.
And he said unto me, This chamber, whose prospect is toward the south, is for the priests, the keepers of the charge of the house.
Then the man said to me: “The chamber that faces south is for the priests who keep charge of the temple,
So he measured the court, an hundred cubits long, and an hundred cubits broad,
foursquare; and the altar that was before the house.
Next he measured the court. It was square, a hundred cubits long and a hundred cubits wide. And the altar was in front of the temple.
And he brought me to the
porch of the house, and measured each post of the
porch, five cubits on this side, and five cubits on that side: and the breadth of the gate was three cubits on this side, and three cubits on that side.
Then he brought me to the
portico of the
temple and measured the side pillars of the
portico to be five cubits on each side. The width of the
gateway was fourteen cubits and its sidewalls were three cubits on either side.
Afterward he brought me to the temple, and measured the posts, six cubits broad on the one side, and six cubits broad on the other side, which was the breadth of the tabernacle.
Then the man brought me into the outer sanctuary and measured the side pillars to be six cubits wide on each side.
So he measured the length thereof, twenty cubits; and the breadth, twenty cubits, before the temple: and he said unto me, This is the most holy place.
Then he measured the room adjacent to the inner sanctuary to be twenty cubits long and twenty cubits wide. And he said to me, “This is the Most Holy Place.”
After he measured the wall of the house, six cubits; and the breadth of every side chamber, four cubits, round about the house on every side.
Next he measured the wall of the temple to be six cubits thick, and the width of each side room around the temple was four cubits.
And the side chambers were three, one over another, and thirty in order; and they entered into the wall which was of the house for the side chambers round about, that they might have hold, but they had not hold in the wall of the house.
The side rooms were arranged one above another in three levels of thirty rooms each. There were ledges all around the wall of the temple to serve as supports for the side rooms, so that the supports would not be fastened into the wall of the temple itself.
And there was an
enlarging, and a winding about still upward to the side chambers: for the winding about of the house went still upward round about the house: therefore the breadth of the house was still upward, and so increased from the lowest chamber to the highest by the midst.
The side rooms surrounding the
temple widened at each successive level, because the structure surrounding the
temple ascended by stages corresponding to the narrowing of the
temple wall as it rose upward. And so a
stairway went up from the lowest story to the highest, through the middle one.
I saw also the height of the house round about: the foundations of the side chambers were a full reed of six great cubits.
I saw that the temple had a raised base all around it, forming the foundation of the side rooms. It was the full length of a rod, six long cubits.
The thickness of the wall, which was for the side chamber without, was five cubits: and that which was left was the place of the side chambers that were within.
The outer wall of the side rooms was five cubits thick, and the open area between the side rooms of the temple
And between the chambers was the wideness of twenty cubits round about the house on every side.
and the outer chambers was twenty cubits wide all around the temple.
Now the building that was before the separate place at the end toward the west was seventy cubits broad; and the wall of the building was five cubits thick round about, and the length thereof
ninety cubits.
Now the building that faced the
temple courtyard on the west was seventy cubits wide, and the wall of the building was five cubits thick all around, with a length of
ninety cubits.
So he measured the house, an hundred cubits long; and the separate place, and the building, with the walls thereof, an hundred cubits long;
Then he measured the
temple to be a hundred cubits long, and the
temple courtyard and the building with its walls were also a hundred cubits long.
Also the breadth of the face of the house, and of the separate place toward the east, an hundred cubits.
The width of the
temple courtyard on the east, including the front of the
temple, was a hundred cubits.
And he measured the length of the building over against the separate place which was behind it, and the
galleries thereof on the one side and on the other side, an hundred cubits, with the inner
temple, and the porches of the court;
Next he measured the length of the building facing the
temple courtyard at the rear of the
temple, including its
galleries on each side; it was a hundred cubits. The outer sanctuary, the inner sanctuary, and the
porticoes facing the court,
So that the face of a man was toward the palm tree on the one side, and the face of a young lion toward the palm tree on the other side: it was made through all the house round about.
the face of a man was toward the palm tree on one side, and the face of a young lion was toward the palm tree on the other side. They were carved all the way around the temple.
From the ground unto above the door were cherubims and palm trees made, and on the wall of the temple.
Cherubim and palm trees were carved on the wall of the outer sanctuary from the floor to the space above the entrance.
The posts of the temple were squared, and the face of the sanctuary; the appearance of the one as the appearance of the other.
The outer sanctuary had a rectangular doorframe, and the doorframe of the sanctuary was similar.
And the temple and the sanctuary had two doors.
Both the outer sanctuary and the inner sanctuary had double doors,
And there were made on them, on the doors of the
temple, cherubims and palm trees, like as were made upon the walls; and there were thick planks upon the face of the
porch without.
Cherubim and palm trees like those on the walls were carved on the doors of the outer sanctuary, and there was a wooden
canopy outside, on the front of the
portico.
And there were narrow windows and palm trees on the one side and on the other side, on the sides of the
porch, and upon the side chambers of the house, and thick planks.
There were
beveled windows and palm trees on the sidewalls of the
portico. The side rooms of the
temple also had
canopies.
Then he brought me forth into the utter court, the way toward the north: and he brought me into the chamber that was over against the separate place, and which was before the building toward the north.
Then the man led me out northward into the outer court, and he brought me to the group of chambers opposite the
temple courtyard and the outer wall on the north side.
For the length of the chambers that were in the utter court was fifty cubits: and, lo, before the temple were an hundred cubits.
For the chambers on the outer court were fifty cubits long, while those facing the temple were a hundred cubits long.
Then said he unto me, The north chambers and the south chambers, which are before the separate place, they be holy chambers, where the priests that approach unto the LORD shall eat the most holy things: there shall they lay the most holy things, and the meat offering, and the sin offering, and the
trespass offering; for the place is holy.
Then the man said to me, “The north and south chambers facing the
temple courtyard are the holy chambers where the priests who approach the LORD will eat the most holy offerings. There they will place the most holy offerings—the grain offerings, the sin offerings, and the guilt offerings—for the place is holy.
Now when he had made an end of measuring the inner house, he brought me forth toward the gate whose prospect is toward the east, and measured it round about.
Now when the man had finished measuring the interior of the temple area, he led me out by the gate that faced east, and he measured the area all around:
And the glory of the LORD came into the house by the way of the gate whose prospect is toward the east.
and the glory of the LORD entered the temple through the gate facing east.
So the spirit took me up, and brought me into the inner court; and, behold, the glory of the LORD filled the house.
Then the Spirit lifted me up and brought me into the inner court, and the glory of the LORD filled the temple.
And I heard him speaking unto me out of the house; and the man stood by me.
While the man was standing beside me, I heard someone speaking to me from inside the temple,
Thou son of man,
shew the house to the house of Israel, that they may be
ashamed of their
iniquities: and let them measure the pattern.
As for you, son of man, describe the
temple to the people of Israel, so that they may be
ashamed of their
iniquities. Let them measure the plan,
And if they be
ashamed of all that they have done,
shew them the form of the house, and the fashion thereof, and the goings out thereof, and the comings in thereof, and all the forms thereof, and all the ordinances thereof, and all the forms thereof, and all the laws thereof: and write it in their sight, that they may keep the whole form thereof, and all the ordinances thereof, and do them.
and if they are
ashamed of all they have done, then make known to them the design of the
temple—its arrangement and its exits and entrances—its whole design along with all its statutes, forms, and laws. Write it down in their sight, so that they may keep its complete design and all its statutes and may carry them out.
This is the law of the house; Upon the top of the mountain the whole limit thereof round about shall be most holy. Behold, this is the law of the house.
This is the law of the
temple: All its surrounding territory on top of the mountain will be most holy.
Yes, this is the law of the
temple.
Thou shalt take the
bullock also of the sin offering, and he shall burn it in the appointed place of the house, without the sanctuary.
Then you are to take away the bull for the sin offering and burn it in the appointed part of the temple area outside the sanctuary.
Then brought he me the way of the north gate before the house: and I looked, and, behold, the glory of the LORD filled the house of the LORD: and I fell upon my face.
Then the man brought me to the front of the temple by way of the north gate. I looked and saw the glory of the LORD filling His temple, and I fell facedown.
And the LORD said unto me, Son of man, mark well, and behold with thine eyes, and hear with thine ears all that I say unto thee concerning all the ordinances of the house of the LORD, and all the laws thereof; and mark well the entering in of the house, with every going forth of the sanctuary.
The LORD said to me: “Son of man, pay attention; look carefully with your eyes and
listen closely with your ears to everything I tell you concerning all the statutes and laws of the house of the LORD. Take careful note of the entrance to the
temple, along with all the exits of the sanctuary.
In that ye have brought into my sanctuary strangers,
uncircumcised in heart, and
uncircumcised in flesh, to be in my sanctuary, to
pollute it, even my house, when ye offer my bread, the fat and the blood, and they have broken my covenant because of all your abominations.
In addition to all your other abominations, you brought in foreigners
uncircumcised in both heart and flesh to occupy My sanctuary; you
defiled My
temple when you offered My food—the fat and the blood; you broke My covenant.
Yet they shall be ministers in my sanctuary, having charge at the gates of the house, and ministering to the house: they shall
slay the burnt offering and the sacrifice for the people, and they shall stand before them to minister unto them.
Yet they shall be ministers in My sanctuary, having charge of the gates of the temple and ministering there. They shall slaughter the burnt offerings and other sacrifices for the people and stand before them to minister to them.
But I will make them keepers of the charge of the house, for all the service thereof, and for all that shall be done therein.
Yet I will
appoint them to keep charge of all the work for the
temple and everything to be done in it.
And it shall come to pass, that when they enter in at the gates of the inner court, they shall be clothed with linen garments; and no wool shall come upon them, whiles they minister in the gates of the inner court, and within.
When they enter the gates of the inner court, they are to wear linen garments; they must not wear anything made of wool when they minister at the gates of the inner court or inside the temple.
And the five and twenty thousand of length, and the ten thousand of breadth, shall also the Levites, the ministers of the house, have for themselves, for a possession for twenty chambers.
An adjacent area 25,000 cubits long and 10,000 cubits wide shall belong to the Levites who minister in the temple; it will be their possession for towns in which to live.
And the priest shall take of the blood of the sin offering, and put it upon the posts of the house, and upon the four corners of the settle of the altar, and upon the posts of the gate of the inner court.
And the priest is to take some of the blood from the sin offering and put it on the doorposts of the
temple, on the four corners of the
ledge of the altar, and on the gateposts of the inner court.
And so thou shalt do the seventh day of the month for every one that erreth, and for him that is simple: so shall ye
reconcile the house.
You must do the same thing on the seventh day of the month for
anyone who strays
unintentionally or in ignorance. In this way you will make
atonement for the
temple.
Then said he unto me, These are the places of them that
boil, where the ministers of the house shall
boil the sacrifice of the people.
And he said to me, “These are the kitchens where those who minister at the
temple will
cook the sacrifices offered by the people.”
Afterward he brought me again unto the door of the house; and, behold, waters issued out from under the
threshold of the house eastward: for the
forefront of the house stood toward the east, and the waters came down from under from the right side of the house, at the south side of the altar.
Then the man brought me back to the entrance of the
temple, and I saw water flowing from under the
threshold of the
temple toward the east (for the
temple faced east). The water was coming down from under the south side of the
temple, south of the altar.
And the residue shall be for the prince, on the one side and on the other of the holy
oblation, and of the possession of the city, over against the five and twenty thousand of the
oblation toward the east border, and westward over against the five and twenty thousand toward the west border, over against the portions for the prince: and it shall be the holy
oblation; and the sanctuary of the house shall be in the midst thereof.
The remaining area on both sides of the holy portion and of the property of the city will belong to the prince. He will own the land adjacent to the
tribal portions, extending eastward from the 25,000 cubits of the holy district toward the eastern border, and westward from the 25,000 cubits to the western border. And in the center of them will be the holy portion and the sanctuary of the
temple.
Belshazzar, whiles he tasted the wine, commanded to bring the golden and silver vessels which his father
Nebuchadnezzar had taken out of the
temple which was in Jerusalem; that the king, and his princes, his wives, and his concubines, might drink therein.
Under the influence of the wine,
Belshazzar gave orders to bring in the gold and silver vessels that
Nebuchadnezzar his father had taken from the
temple in Jerusalem, so that the king could drink from them, along with his nobles, his wives, and his concubines.
Then they brought the golden vessels that were taken out of the
temple of the house of God which was at Jerusalem; and the king, and his princes, his wives, and his concubines,
drank in them.
Thus they brought in the gold vessels that had been taken from the
temple, the house of God in Jerusalem, and the king
drank from them, along with his nobles, his wives, and his concubines.
And he shall
confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the
oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it
desolate, even until the
consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the
desolate.
And he will
confirm a covenant with many for one week, but in the middle of the week he will put an end to sacrifice and offering. And on the wing of the
temple will come the
abomination that causes
desolation, until the decreed destruction is poured out upon him.”
And arms shall stand on his part, and they shall
pollute the sanctuary of strength, and shall take away the daily sacrifice, and they shall place the
abomination that maketh
desolate.
For Israel hath forgotten his Maker, and buildeth
temples; and Judah hath multiplied
fenced cities: but I will send a fire upon his cities, and it shall
devour the palaces thereof.
Israel has forgotten his Maker and built palaces; Judah has multiplied its fortified cities. But I will send fire upon their cities, and it will
consume their citadels.
Because ye have taken my silver and my gold, and have carried into your temples my goodly pleasant things:
For you took My silver and gold and carried off My finest treasures to your temples.
But
prophesy not again any more at
Bethel: for it is the king’s chapel, and it is the king’s court.
But never
prophesy at
Bethel again, because it is the sanctuary of the king and the
temple of the kingdom.”
And the songs of the temple shall be howlings in that day, saith the Lord GOD: there shall be many dead bodies in every place; they shall cast them forth with silence.
“In that day,” declares the Lord GOD, “the songs of the
temple will turn to
wailing. Many will be the corpses,
strewn in silence everywhere!”
Then I said, I am cast out of thy sight; yet I will look again toward thy holy temple.
At this, I said, ‘I have been banished from Your sight; yet I will look once more toward Your holy temple.’
When my soul
fainted within me I remembered the LORD: and my prayer came in unto thee, into thine holy
temple.
As my life was
fading away, I remembered the LORD. My prayer went up to You, to Your holy
temple.
Hear, all ye people;
hearken, O earth, and all that therein is: and let the Lord GOD be witness against you, the Lord from his holy
temple.
Hear, O peoples, all of you;
listen, O earth, and
everyone in it! May the Lord GOD bear witness against you, the Lord from His holy
temple.
Therefore shall
Zion for your sake be
plowed as a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the mountain of the house as the high places of the forest.
Therefore, because of you,
Zion will be
plowed like a field, Jerusalem will become a
heap of
rubble, and the
temple mount a wooded ridge.
But the LORD is in his holy temple: let all the earth keep silence before him.
But the LORD is in His holy temple; let all the earth be silent before Him.
And now, I pray you, consider from this day and upward, from before a stone was laid upon a stone in the temple of the LORD:
Now consider carefully from this day forward: Before one stone was placed on another in the temple of the LORD,
Consider now from this day and upward, from the four and
twentieth day of the ninth month, even from the day that the foundation of the LORD’S
temple was laid, consider it.
Consider carefully from this day forward—from the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, the day the foundation of the LORD’s temple was laid—consider carefully:
And speak unto him, saying, Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, Behold the man whose name is The BRANCH; and he shall grow up out of his place, and he shall build the temple of the LORD:
And you are to tell him that this is what the LORD of Hosts says: ‘Here is a man whose name is the Branch, and He will branch out from His place and build the temple of the LORD.
Even he shall build the temple of the LORD; and he shall bear the glory, and shall sit and rule upon his throne; and he shall be a priest upon his throne: and the counsel of peace shall be between them both.
Yes, He will build the
temple of the LORD; He will be clothed in
splendor and will sit on His throne and rule. And He will be a priest on His throne, and there will be peaceful counsel between the two.’
And the crowns shall be to Helem, and to Tobijah, and to Jedaiah, and to
Hen the son of
Zephaniah, for a
memorial in the
temple of the LORD.
And they that are far off shall come and build in the
temple of the LORD, and ye shall know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me unto you. And this shall come to pass, if ye will
diligently obey the voice of the LORD your God.
Even those far away will come and build the
temple of the LORD, and you will know that the LORD of Hosts has sent Me to you. This will happen if you
diligently obey the voice of the LORD your God.”
Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Let your hands be strong, ye that hear in these days these words by the mouth of the prophets, which were in the day that the foundation of the house of the LORD of hosts was laid, that the temple might be built.
This is what the LORD of Hosts says: “Let your hands be strong, you who now hear these words spoken by the prophets who were present when the foundations were laid to rebuild the temple, the house of the LORD of Hosts.
Who is there even among you that would shut the doors for
nought? neither do ye
kindle fire on mine altar for
nought. I have no pleasure in you, saith the LORD of hosts, neither will I accept an offering at your hand.
“Oh, that one of you would shut the
temple doors, so that you would no longer
kindle useless fires on My altar! I take no pleasure in you,” says the LORD of Hosts, “and I will accept no offering from your hands.
Behold, I will send my
messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his
temple, even the
messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts.
“Behold, I will send My
messenger, who will prepare the way before Me. Then the Lord whom you seek will suddenly come to His
temple—the
Messenger of the covenant, in whom you delight—see, He is coming,” says the LORD of Hosts.
Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a
pinnacle of the
temple,
Then the devil took Him to the holy city and set Him on the
pinnacle of the
temple.
Or have ye not read in the law, how that on the sabbath days the priests in the
temple profane the sabbath, and are
blameless?
Or
haven’t you read in the Law that on the Sabbath the priests in the
temple break the Sabbath and yet are innocent?
But I say unto you, That in this place is one greater than the temple.
But I tell you that something greater than the temple is here.
And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves,
Then Jesus entered the
temple courts and drove out all who were
buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those selling doves.
And the blind and the
lame came to him in the
temple; and he
healed them.
The blind and the
lame came to Him at the
temple, and He
healed them.
And when the chief priests and
scribes saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children crying in the
temple, and saying,
Hosanna to the Son of David; they were
sore displeased,
But the chief priests and
scribes were
indignant when they saw the wonders He performed and the children
shouting in the
temple courts, “
Hosanna to the Son of David!”
And when he was come into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came unto him as he was teaching, and said, By what authority doest thou these things? and who gave thee this authority?
When Jesus returned to the temple courts and began to teach, the chief priests and elders of the people came up to Him. “By what authority are You doing these things?” they asked. “And who gave You this authority?”
Woe to you, blind guides! You say, ‘If
anyone swears by the
temple, it means nothing; but if
anyone swears by the gold of the
temple, he is bound by his oath.’
Ye fools and blind: for whether is greater, the gold, or the temple that sanctifieth the gold?
You blind fools! Which is greater: the gold, or the temple that makes it sacred?
And
whoso shall
swear by the
temple, sweareth by it, and by him that dwelleth therein.
And he who swears by the temple swears by it and by the One who dwells in it.
That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous
Abel unto the blood of
Zacharias son of
Barachias, whom ye
slew between the
temple and the altar.
And so upon you will come all the righteous blood shed on earth, from the blood of righteous
Abel to the blood of
Zechariah son of Berechiah, whom you murdered between the
temple and the altar.
And Jesus went out, and departed from the
temple: and his disciples came to him for to
shew him the buildings of the
temple.
As Jesus left the temple and was walking away, His disciples came up to Him to point out its buildings.
In that same hour said Jesus to the multitudes, Are ye come out as against a
thief with swords and
staves for to take me? I sat daily with you teaching in the
temple, and ye laid no hold on me.
At that time Jesus said to the crowd, “Have you come out with swords and clubs to arrest Me as you would an outlaw? Every day I sat teaching in the temple courts, and you did not arrest Me.
And said, This fellow said, I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to build it in three days.
and declared, “This man said, ‘I am able to destroy the temple of God and rebuild it in three days.’”
And he cast down the pieces of silver in the
temple, and departed, and went and
hanged himself.
So
Judas threw the silver into the
temple and left. Then he went away and
hanged himself.
And saying, Thou that destroyest the
temple, and buildest it in three days, save
thyself. If thou be the Son of God, come down from the cross.
and saying, “You who are going to destroy the
temple and rebuild it in three days, save
Yourself! If You are the Son of God, come down from the cross!”
And, behold, the
veil of the
temple was rent in
twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did
quake, and the rocks rent;
At that moment the
veil of the
temple was
torn in two from top to bottom. The earth
quaked and the rocks were split.
And Jesus entered into Jerusalem, and into the
temple: and when he had looked round about upon all things, and now the
eventide was come, he went out unto
Bethany with the twelve.
Then Jesus entered Jerusalem and went into the
temple courts. He looked around at everything, but since it was already late, He went out to
Bethany with the Twelve.
And they come to Jerusalem: and Jesus went into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves;
When they arrived in Jerusalem, Jesus entered the
temple courts and began to drive out those who were
buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those selling doves.
And would not suffer that any man should carry any vessel through the temple.
And they come again to Jerusalem: and as he was walking in the
temple, there come to him the chief priests, and the
scribes, and the elders,
After their return to Jerusalem, Jesus was walking in the
temple courts, and the chief priests,
scribes, and elders came up to Him.
And Jesus answered and said, while he taught in the
temple, How say the
scribes that Christ is the Son of David?
While Jesus was teaching in the
temple courts, He asked, “How can the
scribes say that the Christ is the Son of David?
And as he went out of the temple, one of his disciples saith unto him, Master, see what manner of stones and what buildings are here!
As Jesus was leaving the temple, one of His disciples said to Him, “Teacher, look at the magnificent stones and buildings!”
And as he sat upon the mount of Olives over against the temple, Peter and James and John and Andrew asked him privately,
While Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives opposite the temple, Peter, James, John, and Andrew asked Him privately,
I was daily with you in the temple teaching, and ye took me not: but the scriptures must be fulfilled.
Every day I was with you, teaching in the temple courts, and you did not arrest Me. But this has happened that the Scriptures would be fulfilled.”
We heard him say, I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and within three days I will build another made without hands.
“We heard Him say, ‘I will destroy this man-made temple, and in three days I will build another that is made without hands.’”
And they that passed by railed on him,
wagging their heads, and saying,
Ah, thou that destroyest the
temple, and buildest it in three days,
And those who passed by
heaped abuse on Him,
shaking their heads and saying, “
Aha! You who are going to destroy the
temple and rebuild it in three days,
And the
veil of the
temple was rent in
twain from the top to the bottom.
And the
veil of the
temple was
torn in two from top to bottom.
According to the custom of the priest’s office, his lot was to burn incense when he went into the temple of the Lord.
he was chosen by lot, according to the custom of the priesthood, to enter the temple of the Lord and burn incense.
Meanwhile, the people were waiting for
Zechariah and wondering why he took so long in the
temple.
