Then Jael
Heber’s wife took a
nail of the tent, and took an hammer in her hand, and went softly unto him, and
smote the
nail into his
temples, and fastened it into the ground: for he was fast
asleep and
weary. So he died.
But as he lay sleeping from
exhaustion,
Heber’s wife Jael took a tent
peg,
grabbed a hammer, and went silently to Sisera. She drove the
peg through his
temple and into the ground, and he died.
And, behold, as
Barak pursued Sisera, Jael came out to meet him, and said unto him, Come, and I will
shew thee the man whom thou seekest. And when he came into her tent, behold, Sisera lay dead, and the
nail was in his
temples.
When
Barak arrived in pursuit of Sisera, Jael went out to
greet him and said to him, “Come, and I will show you the man you are seeking.” So he went in with her, and there lay Sisera dead, with a tent
peg through his
temple.
She put her hand to the
nail, and her right hand to the workmen’s hammer; and with the hammer she
smote Sisera, she
smote off his head, when she had pierced and
stricken through his
temples.
She reached for the tent
peg, her right hand for the
workman’s hammer. She struck Sisera and
crushed his skull; she
shattered and pierced his
temple.
So they gave him seventy shekels of silver from the
temple of
Baal-berith, with which
Abimelech hired some worthless and
reckless men to follow him.
And when all the men of the tower of
Shechem heard that, they entered into an hold of the house of the god Berith.
On hearing of this, all the leaders in the tower of
Shechem entered the inner chamber of the
temple of El-berith.
And
Samson said unto the
lad that held him by the hand, Suffer me that I may feel the pillars
whereupon the house standeth, that I may
lean upon them.
Samson said to the servant who held his hand, “Lead me where I can feel the pillars supporting the
temple, so I can
lean against them.”
Now the house was full of men and women; and all the lords of the Philistines were there; and there were upon the roof about three thousand men and women, that
beheld while
Samson made
sport.
Now the
temple was full of men and women; all the lords of the Philistines were there, and about three thousand men and women were on the roof watching
Samson entertain them.
And
Samson took hold of the two middle pillars upon which the house stood, and on which it was borne up, of the one with his right hand, and of the other with his left.
And
Samson reached out for the two central pillars supporting the
temple.
Bracing himself against them with his right hand on one
pillar and his left hand on the other,
And
Samson said, Let me die with the Philistines. And he bowed himself with all his might; and the house fell upon the lords, and upon all the people that were therein. So the dead which he
slew at his death were more than they which he
slew in his life.
Samson said, “Let me die with the Philistines.” Then he pushed with all his might, and the
temple fell on the lords and all the people in it. So in his death he killed more than he had killed in his life.
So
Hannah rose up after they had eaten in
Shiloh, and after they had
drunk. Now
Eli the priest sat upon a seat by a post of the
temple of the LORD.
So after they had finished eating and drinking in
Shiloh,
Hannah stood up. Now
Eli the priest was sitting on a chair by the
doorpost of the
temple of the LORD.
And
ere the lamp of God went out in the
temple of the LORD, where the ark of God was, and Samuel was laid down to sleep;
Before the lamp of God had gone out, Samuel was lying down in the
temple of the LORD, where the ark of God was
located.
When the Philistines took the ark of God, they brought it into the house of
Dagon, and set it by
Dagon.
carried it into the
temple of
Dagon, and set it beside his statue.
And they cut off his head, and
stripped off his armour, and sent into the land of the Philistines round about, to
publish it in the house of their idols, and among the people.
They cut off Saul’s head,
stripped off his
armor, and sent messengers throughout the land of the Philistines to
proclaim the news in the
temples of their idols and among their people.
And they put his armour in the house of
Ashtaroth: and they fastened his body to the wall of Beth-shan.
They put his
armor in the
temple of the Ashtoreths and hung his body on the wall of Beth-shan.
In my distress I called upon the LORD, and
cried to my God: and he did hear my voice out of his
temple, and my cry did enter into his ears.
In my distress I called upon the LORD; I
cried out to my God. And from His
temple He heard my voice, and my cry for help reached His ears.
And the king commanded, and they brought great stones, costly stones, and
hewed stones, to lay the foundation of the house.
And the king commanded them to
quarry large, costly stones to lay the foundation of the
temple with dressed stones.
And Solomon’s builders and
Hiram’s builders did
hew them, and the stonesquarers: so they prepared timber and stones to build the house.
So Solomon’s and
Hiram’s builders, along with the Gebalites,
quarried the stone and prepared the timber and stone for the construction of the
temple.
And the
porch before the
temple of the house, twenty cubits was the length thereof, according to the breadth of the house; and ten cubits was the breadth thereof before the house.
The
portico at the front of the main hall of the
temple was twenty cubits long, extending across the width of the
temple and projecting out ten cubits in front of the
temple.
And for the house he made windows of narrow lights.
He also had narrow windows framed high in the temple.
And against the wall of the house he built chambers round about, against the walls of the house round about, both of the
temple and of the
oracle: and he made chambers round about:
Against the walls of the temple and the inner sanctuary, Solomon built a chambered structure around the temple, in which he constructed the side rooms.
The
nethermost chamber was five cubits broad, and the middle was six cubits broad, and the third was seven cubits broad: for without in the wall of the house he made narrowed rests round about, that the beams should not be fastened in the walls of the house.
The bottom floor was five cubits wide, the middle floor six cubits, and the third floor seven cubits. He also placed
offset ledges around the outside of the
temple, so that nothing would be inserted into its walls.
And the house, when it was in building, was built of stone made ready before it was brought thither: so that there was neither hammer nor
axe nor any tool of iron heard in the house, while it was in building.
The
temple was constructed using finished stones cut at the
quarry, so that no hammer or
chisel or any other iron tool was heard in the
temple while it was being built.
The door for the middle chamber was in the right side of the house: and they went up with winding stairs into the middle chamber, and out of the middle into the third.
The entrance to the bottom floor was on the south side of the
temple. A
stairway led up to the middle level, and from there to the third floor.
So he built the house, and finished it; and covered the house with beams and boards of
cedar.
So Solomon built the
temple and finished it, roofing it with beams and planks of
cedar.
And then he built chambers against all the house, five cubits high: and they rested on the house with timber of
cedar.
He built chambers all along the
temple, each five cubits high and attached to the
temple with beams of
cedar.
Concerning this house which thou art in building, if thou
wilt walk in my statutes, and
execute my judgments, and keep all my commandments to walk in them; then will I perform my word with thee, which I spake unto David thy father:
“As for this
temple you are building, if you walk in My statutes, carry out My ordinances, and keep all My commandments by walking in them, I will
fulfill through you the promise I made to your father David.
So Solomon built the house, and finished it.
So Solomon built the temple and finished it.
And he built the walls of the house within with boards of
cedar, both the floor of the house, and the walls of the cieling: and he covered them on the inside with wood, and covered the floor of the house with planks of
fir.
He lined the interior walls with
cedar paneling from the floor of the
temple to the
ceiling, and he covered the floor with
cypress boards.
And he built twenty cubits on the sides of the house, both the floor and the walls with boards of
cedar: he even built them for it within, even for the
oracle, even for the most holy place.
He partitioned off the twenty cubits at the rear of the
temple with
cedar boards from floor to
ceiling to form within the
temple an inner sanctuary, the Most Holy Place.
And the house, that is, the temple before it, was forty cubits long.
And the main hall in front of this room was forty cubits long.
And the
cedar of the house within was carved with knops and open flowers: all was
cedar; there was no stone seen.
The
cedar paneling inside the
temple was carved with gourds and open flowers. Everything was
cedar; not a stone could be seen.
And the
oracle he prepared in the house within, to set there the ark of the covenant of the LORD.
Solomon also prepared the inner sanctuary within the temple to set the ark of the covenant of the LORD there.
So Solomon overlaid the house within with pure gold: and he made a partition by the chains of gold before the
oracle; and he overlaid it with gold.
So Solomon overlaid the inside of the temple with pure gold, and he extended gold chains across the front of the inner sanctuary, which was overlaid with gold.
And the whole house he overlaid with gold, until he had finished all the house: also the whole altar that was by the
oracle he overlaid with gold.
So he overlaid with gold the whole interior of the temple, until everything was completely finished. He also overlaid with gold the entire altar that belonged to the inner sanctuary.
And he set the cherubims within the inner house: and they stretched forth the wings of the cherubims, so that the wing of the one touched the one wall, and the wing of the other
cherub touched the other wall; and their wings touched one another in the midst of the house.
And he placed the
cherubim inside the
innermost room of the
temple. Since their wings were spread out, the wing of the first
cherub touched one wall, while the wing of the second
cherub touched the other wall, and in the middle of the room their wingtips touched.
And he carved all the walls of the house round about with carved figures of cherubims and palm trees and open flowers, within and without.
Then he carved the walls all around the
temple, in both the inner and outer
sanctuaries, with carved engravings of
cherubim, palm trees, and open flowers.
And the floor of the house he overlaid with gold, within and without.
And he overlaid the
temple floor with gold in both the inner and outer
sanctuaries.
So also made he for the door of the temple posts of olive tree, a fourth part of the wall.
In the same way he made four-sided doorposts of olive wood for the sanctuary entrance.
And in the
eleventh year, in the month
Bul, which is the eighth month, was the house finished throughout all the parts thereof, and according to all the fashion of it. So was he seven years in building it.
In his
eleventh year and eighth month, the month of
Bul, the
temple was finished in every detail and according to every
specification. So he built the
temple in seven years.
And he set up the pillars in the
porch of the
temple: and he set up the right
pillar, and called the name thereof
Jachin: and he set up the left
pillar, and he called the name thereof Boaz.
Thus he set up the pillars at the
portico of the
temple. The
pillar to the south he named
Jachin, and the
pillar to the north he named Boaz.
And he put five bases on the right side of the house, and five on the left side of the house: and he set the sea on the right side of the house eastward over against the south.
He set five stands on the south side of the
temple and five on the north, and he put the Sea on the south side, at the
southeast corner of the
temple.
And the
bowls, and the
snuffers, and the basons, and the spoons, and the censers of pure gold; and the hinges of gold, both for the doors of the inner house, the most holy place, and for the doors of the house, to wit, of the
temple.
the pure gold basins,
wick trimmers,
sprinkling bowls, ladles, and censers; and the gold hinges for the doors of the inner
temple (that is, the Most Holy Place) as well as for the doors of the main hall of the
temple.
And the priests brought in the ark of the covenant of the LORD unto his place, into the
oracle of the house, to the most holy place, even under the wings of the cherubims.
Then the priests brought the ark of the covenant of the LORD to its place in the inner sanctuary of the
temple, the Most Holy Place, beneath the wings of the
cherubim.
But will God indeed dwell on the earth? behold, the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain thee; how much less this house that I have builded?
But will God indeed dwell upon the earth? Even heaven, the highest heaven, cannot contain You, much less this temple I have built.
That thine eyes may be open toward this house night and day, even toward the place of which thou hast said, My name shall be there: that thou mayest
hearken unto the prayer which thy servant shall make toward this place.
May Your eyes be open toward this temple night and day, toward the place of which You said, ‘My Name shall be there,’ so that You may hear the prayer that Your servant prays toward this place.
If any man
trespass against his neighbour, and an oath be laid upon him to cause him to
swear, and the oath come before thine altar in this house:
When a man sins against his
neighbor and is required to take an oath, and he comes to take an oath before Your altar in this
temple,
When thy people Israel be
smitten down before the enemy, because they have
sinned against thee, and shall turn again to thee, and
confess thy name, and pray, and make
supplication unto thee in this house:
When Your people Israel are defeated before an enemy because they have
sinned against You, and they return to You and
confess Your name, praying and
pleading with You in this
temple,
What prayer and
supplication soever be made by any man, or by all thy people Israel, which shall know every man the plague of his own heart, and spread forth his hands toward this house:
then may whatever prayer or petition Your people Israel make—each knowing his own afflictions and spreading out his hands toward this temple—
(For they shall hear of thy great name, and of thy strong hand, and of thy stretched out arm;) when he shall come and pray toward this house;
for they will hear of Your great name and mighty hand and outstretched arm—when he comes and prays toward this temple,
And the LORD said unto him, I have heard thy prayer and thy
supplication, that thou hast made before me: I have
hallowed this house, which thou hast built, to put my name there for ever; and mine eyes and mine heart shall be there perpetually.
And the LORD said to him: “I have heard your prayer and petition before Me. I have consecrated this
temple you have built by putting My Name there
forever; My eyes and My heart will be there for all time.
Then will I cut off Israel out of the land which I have given them; and this house, which I have
hallowed for my name, will I cast out of my sight; and Israel shall be a
proverb and a
byword among all people:
then I will cut off Israel from the land that I have given them, and I will
banish from My presence this
temple I have
sanctified for My Name. Then Israel will become an object of
scorn and
ridicule among all peoples.
And at this house, which is high, every one that passeth by it shall be
astonished, and shall hiss; and they shall say, Why hath the LORD done thus unto this land, and to this house?
And when this
temple has become a
heap of
rubble, all who pass by it will be
appalled and will hiss and say, ‘Why has the LORD done such a thing to this land and to this
temple?’
And three times in a year did Solomon offer burnt offerings and peace offerings upon the altar which he built unto the LORD, and he burnt incense upon the altar that was before the LORD. So he finished the house.
Three times a year Solomon offered burnt offerings and peace offerings on the altar he had built for the LORD, burning incense with them before the LORD. So he completed the temple.
And he reared up an altar for
Baal in the house of
Baal, which he had built in Samaria.
First,
Ahab set up an altar for
Baal in the
temple of
Baal that he had built in Samaria.
In this thing the LORD
pardon thy servant, that when my master goeth into the house of
Rimmon to worship there, and he leaneth on my hand, and I bow myself in the house of
Rimmon: when I bow down myself in the house of
Rimmon, the LORD
pardon thy servant in this thing.
Yet may the LORD
forgive your servant this one thing: When my master goes into the
temple of
Rimmon to worship there, and he leans on my arm, and I bow down in the
temple of
Rimmon, may the LORD
forgive your servant in this matter.”
And
Jehu sent through all Israel: and all the worshippers of
Baal came, so that there was not a man left that came not. And they came into the house of
Baal; and the house of
Baal was full from one end to another.
Then
Jehu sent word throughout Israel, and all the servants of
Baal came; there was not a man who failed to show. They entered the
temple of
Baal, and it was filled from end to end.
And
Jehu went, and Jehonadab the son of Rechab, into the house of
Baal, and said unto the worshippers of
Baal, Search, and look that there be here with you none of the servants of the LORD, but the worshippers of
Baal only.
Next,
Jehu and Jehonadab son of Rechab entered the
temple of
Baal, and
Jehu said to the servants of
Baal, “Look around to see that there are no servants of the LORD here among you—only servants of
Baal.”
And it came to pass, as soon as he had made an end of offering the burnt offering, that
Jehu said to the guard and to the captains, Go in, and
slay them; let none come forth. And they
smote them with the edge of the sword; and the guard and the captains cast them out, and went to the city of the house of
Baal.
When he had finished making the burnt offering,
Jehu said to the guards and officers, “Go in and kill them. Do not let
anyone out.” So the guards and officers put them to the sword, threw the bodies out, and went into the inner room of the
temple of
Baal.
And they brought forth the images out of the house of
Baal, and burned them.
They brought out the sacred
pillar of the
temple of
Baal and burned it.
And they
brake down the image of
Baal, and
brake down the house of
Baal, and made it a draught house unto this day.
And a third part shall be at the gate of Sur; and a third part at the gate behind the guard: so shall ye keep the watch of the house, that it be not broken down.
a third shall be at the gate of Sur, and a third at the gate behind the guards. You are to take turns guarding the temple—
And to the captains over hundreds did the priest give king David’s spears and shields, that were in the temple of the LORD.
Then the priest gave to the commanders of hundreds the spears and shields of King David from the house of the LORD.
And the guard stood, every man with his weapons in his hand, round about the king, from the right corner of the temple to the left corner of the temple, along by the altar and the temple.
And the guards stood with weapons in hand surrounding the king by the altar and the temple, from the south side to the north side of the temple.
And when
Athaliah heard the noise of the guard and of the people, she came to the people into the
temple of the LORD.
When
Athaliah heard the noise from the guards and the people, she went out to the people in the house of the LORD.
And all the people of the land went into the house of
Baal, and
brake it down; his altars and his images
brake they in pieces thoroughly, and
slew Mattan the priest of
Baal before the altars. And the priest appointed officers over the house of the LORD.
So all the people of the land went to the
temple of
Baal and
tore it down. They
smashed the altars and idols to pieces, and they killed Mattan the priest of
Baal in front of the altars. And Jehoiada the priest posted guards for the house of the LORD.
Let the priests take it to them, every man of his acquaintance: and let them repair the breaches of the house,
wheresoever any breach shall be found.
Let every priest receive it from his
constituency, and let it be used to repair any damage found in the
temple.”
But it was so, that in the three and
twentieth year of king Jehoash the priests had not repaired the breaches of the house.
By the twenty-third year of the reign of
Joash, however, the priests had not yet repaired the damage to the
temple.
Then king Jehoash called for Jehoiada the priest, and the other priests, and said unto them, Why repair ye not the breaches of the house? now therefore receive no more money of your acquaintance, but deliver it for the breaches of the house.
So King
Joash called Jehoiada and the other priests and said, “Why have you not repaired the damage to the
temple? Now, therefore, take no more money from your
constituency, but hand it over for the repair of the
temple.”
And the priests consented to receive no more money of the people, neither to repair the breaches of the house.
So the priests agreed that they would not receive money from the people and that they would not repair the temple themselves.
And to masons, and hewers of stone, and to
buy timber and
hewed stone to repair the breaches of the house of the LORD, and for all that was laid out for the house to repair it.
masons, and stonecutters. They also purchased timber and dressed stone to repair the damage to the house of the LORD, and they paid the other expenses of the temple repairs.
And he brought also the
brasen altar, which was before the LORD, from the
forefront of the house, from between the altar and the house of the LORD, and put it on the north side of the altar.
He also took the bronze altar that stood before the LORD from the front of the temple (between the new altar and the house of the LORD) and he put it on the north side of the new altar.
And the
covert for the sabbath that they had built in the house, and the king’s entry without, turned he from the house of the LORD for the king of Assyria.
And on account of the king of Assyria, he removed the Sabbath
canopy they had built in the
temple and closed the royal entryway outside the house of the LORD.
At that time did
Hezekiah cut off the gold from the doors of the
temple of the LORD, and from the pillars which
Hezekiah king of Judah had overlaid, and gave it to the king of Assyria.
At that time
Hezekiah stripped the gold with which he had plated the doors and doorposts of the
temple of the LORD, and he gave it to the king of Assyria.
One day, while he was worshiping in the
temple of his god
Nisroch, his sons
Adrammelech and Sharezer put him to the sword and escaped to the land of
Ararat. And his son Esar-haddon reigned in his place.
And he set a
graven image of the
grove that he had made in the house, of which the LORD said to David, and to Solomon his son, In this house, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all tribes of Israel, will I put my name for ever:
Manasseh even took the carved Asherah pole he had made and set it up in the
temple, of which the LORD had said to David and his son Solomon, “In this
temple and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, I will establish My Name
forever.
Unto carpenters, and builders, and masons, and to
buy timber and
hewn stone to repair the house.
to the carpenters, builders, and masons—to
buy timber and dressed stone to repair the
temple.
And Shaphan the
scribe came to the king, and brought the king word again, and said, Thy servants have gathered the money that was found in the house, and have delivered it into the hand of them that do the work, that have the oversight of the house of the LORD.
And Shaphan the
scribe went to the king and reported, “Your servants have paid out the money that was found in the
temple and have put it into the hands of the workers and supervisors of the house of the LORD.”
And the king commanded Hilkiah the high priest, and the priests of the second order, and the keepers of the door, to bring forth out of the
temple of the LORD all the vessels that were made for
Baal, and for the
grove, and for all the host of heaven: and he burned them without Jerusalem in the fields of Kidron, and carried the ashes of them unto
Bethel.
Then the king commanded Hilkiah the high priest, the priests second in rank, and the doorkeepers to remove from the
temple of the LORD all the articles made for
Baal, Asherah, and all the host of heaven. And he burned them outside Jerusalem in the fields of Kidron and carried their ashes to
Bethel.
And the LORD said, I will remove Judah also out of my sight, as I have removed Israel, and will cast off this city Jerusalem which I have chosen, and the house of which I said, My name shall be there.
For the LORD had said, “I will remove Judah from My sight, just as I removed Israel. I will
reject this city Jerusalem, which I chose, and the
temple of which I said, ‘My Name shall be there.’”
And he carried out thence all the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king’s house, and cut in pieces all the vessels of gold which Solomon king of Israel had made in the temple of the LORD, as the LORD had said.
As the LORD had declared,
Nebuchadnezzar also carried off all the treasures from the house of the LORD and the royal palace, and he cut into pieces all the gold articles that Solomon king of Israel had made in the
temple of the LORD.
And the pots, and the shovels, and the
snuffers, and the spoons, and all the vessels of brass
wherewith they ministered, took they away.
They also took away the pots, shovels,
wick trimmers, dishes, and all the articles of bronze used in the
temple service.
And Johanan
begat Azariah, (he it is that executed the priest’s office in the
temple that Solomon built in Jerusalem:)
Johanan was the father of
Azariah, who served as priest in the
temple that Solomon built in Jerusalem,
Now the first inhabitants that dwelt in their possessions in their cities were, the Israelites, the priests, Levites, and the
Nethinims.
Now the first to resettle their own property in their cities were Israelites, priests, Levites, and temple servants.
And
Azariah the son of Hilkiah, the son of Meshullam, the son of
Zadok, the son of Meraioth, the son of Ahitub, the ruler of the house of God;
Azariah son of Hilkiah, the son of Meshullam, the son of
Zadok, the son of Meraioth, the son of Ahitub, the chief official of God’s
temple;
And these are the singers, chief of the fathers of the Levites, who remaining in the chambers were free: for they were employed in that work day and night.
Those who were musicians, the heads of
Levite families, stayed in the
temple chambers and were
exempt from other duties because they were on duty day and night.
And when they had
stripped him, they took his head, and his armour, and sent into the land of the Philistines round about, to carry
tidings unto their idols, and to the people.
They
stripped Saul, cut off his head, took his
armor, and sent messengers throughout the land of the Philistines to
proclaim the news in the
temple of their idols and among their people.
And they put his armour in the house of their gods, and fastened his head in the
temple of
Dagon.
They put his
armor in the
temple of their gods and hung his head in the
temple of
Dagon.
Now set your heart and your soul to seek the LORD your God; arise therefore, and build ye the sanctuary of the LORD God, to bring the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and the holy vessels of God, into the house that is to be built to the name of the LORD.
Now set your heart and soul to seek the LORD your God. Get started building the sanctuary of the LORD God, so that you may bring the ark of the covenant of the LORD and the holy articles of God into the temple that will be built for the Name of the LORD.”
Then David gave to Solomon his son the pattern of the
porch, and of the houses thereof, and of the
treasuries thereof, and of the upper chambers thereof, and of the inner parlours thereof, and of the place of the mercy seat,
Then David gave his son Solomon the plans for the
portico of the
temple, its buildings, storehouses, upper rooms, inner rooms, and the room for the mercy seat.
Moreover, because I have set my affection to the house of my God, I have of mine own proper good, of gold and silver, which I have given to the house of my God, over and above all that I have prepared for the holy house,
Moreover, because of my delight in the house of my God, I now give for it my personal treasures of gold and silver, over and above all that I have provided for this holy temple:
Even to prepare me timber in abundance: for the house which I am about to build shall be wonderful great.
to prepare for me timber in abundance, because the temple I am building will be great and wonderful.
Huram said moreover, Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, that made heaven and earth, who hath given to David the king a wise son,
endued with
prudence and understanding, that might build an house for the LORD, and an house for his kingdom.
And
Hiram added: “Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, who made the heavens and the earth! He has given King David a wise son with insight and understanding, who will build a
temple for the LORD and a royal palace for himself.
And the
porch that was in the front of the house, the length of it was according to the breadth of the house, twenty cubits, and the height was an hundred and twenty: and he overlaid it within with pure gold.
The
portico at the front, extending across the width of the
temple, was twenty cubits long and twenty cubits high. He overlaid the inside with pure gold.
And he
garnished the house with precious stones for beauty: and the gold was gold of Parvaim.
He adorned the temple with precious stones for beauty, and its gold was from Parvaim.
And he made the most holy house, the length
whereof was according to the breadth of the house, twenty cubits, and the breadth thereof twenty cubits: and he overlaid it with fine gold, amounting to six hundred talents.
Then he made the Most Holy Place; its length corresponded to the width of the temple—twenty cubits long and twenty cubits wide. And he overlaid the inside with six hundred talents of fine gold.
And the wings of the cherubims were twenty cubits long: one wing of the one
cherub was five cubits, reaching to the wall of the house: and the other wing was likewise five cubits, reaching to the wing of the other
cherub.
The total wingspan of the
cherubim was twenty cubits. One wing of the first
cherub was five cubits long and touched the wall of the
temple, and its other wing was five cubits long and touched the wing of the other
cherub.
And one wing of the other
cherub was five cubits, reaching to the wall of the house: and the other wing was five cubits also, joining to the wing of the other
cherub.
The wing of the second
cherub also measured five cubits and touched the wall of the
temple, while its other wing measured five cubits and touched the wing of the first
cherub.
Also he made before the house two pillars of thirty and five cubits high, and the
chapiter that was on the top of each of them was five cubits.
In front of the temple he made two pillars, which together were thirty-five cubits high, each with a capital on top measuring five cubits.
And he reared up the pillars before the
temple, one on the right hand, and the other on the left; and called the name of that on the right hand
Jachin, and the name of that on the left Boaz.
Then he set up the pillars in front of the
temple, one on the south and one on the north. The
pillar on the south he named
Jachin, and the
pillar on the north he named Boaz.
