way to the wilderness of Damascus: and when thou comest,

way did the Spirit of the LORD go when He departed from me to speak with you?”

Elijah the Tishbite, Arise, go up to meet the messengers of the king of Samaria, and say unto them, Is it not because there is not a God in Israel, that ye go to
enquire of
Baal-
zebub the god of
Ekron?
But the angel of the LORD said to

way to inquire of
Baal-
zebub, the god of
Ekron?’

Gird up thy loins, and take my staff in thine hand, and go thy
way: if thou meet any man,
salute him not; and if any
salute thee, answer him not again: and lay my staff upon the face of the child.
So
Elisha said to Gehazi, “
Tie up your garment, take my staff in your hand, and go! If you meet
anyone, do not
greet him, and if
anyone greets you, do not answer him. Then lay my staff on the boy’s face.”
And he said unto him, Go in peace. So he departed from him a little way.
“Go in peace,” said
Elisha. But after
Naaman had traveled a short distance,
And
Elisha said unto them, This is not the
way, neither is this the city: follow me, and I will bring you to the man whom ye seek. But he led them to Samaria.
And
Elisha told them, “This is not the
way, and this is not the city. Follow me, and I will take you to the man you are seeking.” And he led them to Samaria.
And they went after them unto Jordan: and, lo, all the
way was full of garments and vessels, which the Syrians had cast away in their
haste. And the messengers returned, and told the king.

way was
littered with the clothing and
equipment the Arameans had thrown off in
haste. So the scouts returned and told the king.

Ahab, and did evil in the sight of the LORD, as did the house of
Ahab: for he was the son in law of the house of
Ahab.

Ahaziah walked in the
ways of the house of
Ahab and did evil in the sight of the LORD like the house of

Ahaziah the king of Judah saw this, he fled by the
way of the garden house. And
Jehu followed after him, and said,
Smite him also in the
chariot. And they did so at the going up to Gur, which is by Ibleam. And he fled to
Megiddo, and died there.
When King
Ahaziah of Judah saw this, he fled up the road toward Beth-haggan. And

shouting, “Shoot him too!” So they shot
Ahaziah in his
chariot on the
Ascent of Gur, near Ibleam, and he fled to
Megiddo and died there.
And he arose and departed, and came to Samaria. And as he was at the shearing house in the way,

He took with him the commanders of hundreds, the Carites, the guards, and all the people of the land, and they brought the king down from the house of the LORD and entered the royal palace by
way of the Gate of the Guards. Then
Joash took his seat on the royal throne,
But he walked in the
way of the kings of Israel,
yea, and made his son to pass through the fire, according to the abominations of the heathen, whom the LORD cast out from before the children of Israel.
Instead, he walked in the ways of the kings of Israel and even sacrificed his son in the fire, according to the abominations of the nations that the LORD had driven out before the Israelites.
Yet the LORD
testified against Israel, and against Judah, by all the prophets, and by all the seers, saying, Turn ye from your evil
ways, and keep my commandments and my statutes, according to all the law which I commanded your fathers, and which I sent to you by my servants the prophets.
Yet through all His prophets and seers, the LORD
warned Israel and Judah, saying, “Turn from your wicked
ways and keep My commandments and statutes, according to the entire Law that I commanded your fathers and delivered to you through My servants the prophets.”
Because thy
rage against me and thy
tumult is come up into mine ears, therefore I will put my hook in thy nose, and my
bridle in thy lips, and I will turn thee back by the
way by which thou camest.
Because your
rage and
arrogance against Me have reached My ears, I will put My hook in your nose and My
bit in your mouth; I will send you back the
way you came.’
By the way that he came, by the same shall he return, and shall not come into this city, saith the LORD.
He will go back the way he came, and he will not enter this city,’ declares the LORD.
And he walked in all the way that his father walked in, and served the idols that his father served, and worshipped them:

forsook the LORD God of his fathers, and walked not in the
way of the LORD.

And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, and walked in all the way of David his father, and turned not aside to the right hand or to the left.
And he did what was right in the eyes of the LORD and walked in all the ways of his father David; he did not turn aside to the right or to the left.
And the city was broken up, and all the men of war fled by night by the way of the gate between two walls, which is by the king’s garden: (now the Chaldees were against the city round about:) and the king went the way toward the plain.
Then the city was breached; and though the Chaldeans had surrounded the city, all the men of war fled by night by way of the gate between the two walls near the king’s garden. They headed toward the Arabah,
David therefore did as God commanded him: and they
smote the host of the Philistines from
Gibeon even to
Gazer.
So David did as God had commanded him, and they struck down the army of the Philistines all the
way from
Gibeon to
Gezer.
And under it was the
similitude of oxen, which did compass it round about: ten in a
cubit, compassing the sea round about. Two rows of oxen were cast, when it was cast.
Below the
rim, figures of oxen
encircled it, ten per
cubit all the
way around the Sea, cast in two rows as a part of the Sea.
Now therefore, O LORD God of Israel, keep with thy servant David my father that which thou hast promised him, saying, There shall not fail thee a man in my sight to sit upon the throne of Israel; yet so that thy children take
heed to their
way to walk in my law, as thou hast walked before me.
Therefore now, O LORD, God of Israel, keep for Your servant, my father David, what You promised when You said: ‘You will never fail to have a man to sit before Me on the throne of Israel, if only your descendants guard their way to walk in My law as you have walked before Me.’
Then hear thou from heaven, and do, and judge thy servants, by requiting the wicked, by
recompensing his
way upon his own head; and by
justifying the righteous, by giving him according to his righteousness.
then may You hear from heaven and act. May You judge Your servants,
condemning the wicked man by bringing down on his own head what he has done, and
justifying the righteous man by rewarding him according to his righteousness.
Then hear thou from heaven, and
forgive the sin of thy servants, and of thy people Israel, when thou hast taught them the good
way, wherein they should walk; and send rain upon thy land, which thou hast given unto thy people for an inheritance.
then may You hear from heaven and
forgive the sin of Your servants, Your people Israel, so that You may teach them the good
way in which they should walk. May You send rain on the land that You gave Your people as an inheritance.
Then hear thou from heaven thy dwelling place, and
forgive, and render unto every man according unto all his
ways, whose heart thou knowest; (for thou only knowest the hearts of the children of men:)
be heard by You from heaven, Your dwelling place. And may You
forgive and repay each man according to all his
ways, since You know his heart—for You alone know the hearts of men—
That they may fear thee, to walk in thy ways, so long as they live in the land which thou gavest unto our fathers.
so that they may fear You and walk in Your ways all the days they live in the land that You gave to our fathers.
If thy people go out to war against their enemies by the way that thou shalt send them, and they pray unto thee toward this city which thou hast chosen, and the house which I have built for thy name;
When Your people go to war against their enemies, wherever You send them, and when they pray to You in the direction of the city You have chosen and the house I have built for Your Name,
If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked
ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will
forgive their sin, and will
heal their land.
and if My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked
ways, then I will hear from heaven,
forgive their sin, and
heal their land.
So they strengthened the kingdom of Judah, and made
Rehoboam the son of Solomon strong, three years: for three years they walked in the
way of David and Solomon.
So they strengthened the kingdom of Judah and supported
Rehoboam son of Solomon for three years, because they walked for three years in the
way of David and Solomon.
And the rest of the acts of
Abijah, and his
ways, and his sayings, are written in the story of the prophet
Iddo.
Now the rest of the acts of
Abijah, along with his
ways and his words, are written in the Treatise of the Prophet
Iddo.
And the LORD was with
Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the first
ways of his father David, and sought not unto
Baalim;
Now the LORD was with
Jehoshaphat because he walked in the earlier
ways of his father David. He did not seek out the Baals,
And his heart was lifted up in the ways of the LORD: moreover he took away the high places and groves out of Judah.
And his heart took delight in the
ways of the LORD;
furthermore, he removed the high places and Asherah poles from Judah.
Then
Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah came near, and
smote Micaiah upon the
cheek, and said, Which
way went the Spirit of the LORD from me to speak unto thee?
Then
Zedekiah son of Chenaanah went up, struck Micaiah in the face, and demanded, “Which
way did the Spirit of the LORD go when He departed from me to speak with you?”
And he walked in the
way of
Asa his father, and departed not from it, doing that which was right in the sight of the LORD.
And
Jehoshaphat walked in the
way of his father
Asa and did not turn away from it; he did what was right in the eyes of the LORD.
And he walked in the
way of the kings of Israel, like as did the house of
Ahab: for he had the daughter of
Ahab to wife: and he wrought that which was evil in the eyes of the LORD.
And Jehoram walked in the
ways of the kings of Israel, just as the house of
Ahab had done. For he married a daughter of
Ahab and did evil in the sight of the LORD.
And there came a writing to him from
Elijah the prophet, saying, Thus saith the LORD God of David thy father, Because thou hast not walked in the
ways of
Jehoshaphat thy father, nor in the
ways of
Asa king of Judah,
Then a letter came to Jehoram from
Elijah the prophet, which stated: “This is what the LORD, the God of your father David, says: ‘You have not walked in the
ways of your father
Jehoshaphat or of
Asa king of Judah,
But hast walked in the
way of the kings of Israel, and hast made Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to go a
whoring, like to the whoredoms of the house of
Ahab, and also hast slain thy brethren of thy father’s house, which were better than
thyself:
but you have walked in the
ways of the kings of Israel and have caused Judah and the people of Jerusalem to
prostitute themselves, just as the house of
Ahab prostituted itself. You have also killed your brothers, your father’s family, who were better than you.
He also walked in the
ways of the house of
Ahab: for his mother was his counsellor to do wickedly.
Ahaziah also walked in the
ways of the house of
Ahab, for his mother was his
counselor in wickedness.
So Jotham became mighty, because he prepared his ways before the LORD his God.
So Jotham grew powerful because he ordered his ways before the LORD his God.
Now the rest of the acts of Jotham, and all his wars, and his ways, lo, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah.
As for the rest of the acts of Jotham, along with all his wars and his ways, they are indeed written in the Book of the Kings of Israel and Judah.
For he walked in the
ways of the kings of Israel, and made also
molten images for
Baalim.
Instead, he walked in the ways of the kings of Israel and even made cast images of the Baals.
Now the rest of his acts and of all his ways, first and last, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.
As for the rest of the acts of
Ahaz and all his
ways, from beginning to end, they are indeed written in the Book of the Kings of Judah and Israel.
Know ye not what I and my fathers have done unto all the people of other lands? were the gods of the nations of those lands any ways able to deliver their lands out of mine hand?
Do you not know what I and my fathers have done to all the peoples of the lands? Have the gods of these nations ever been able to deliver their land from my hand?
And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, and walked in the ways of David his father, and declined neither to the right hand, nor to the left.
And he did what was right in the eyes of the LORD and walked in the ways of his father David; he did not turn aside to the right or to the left.
Then I proclaimed a fast there, at the river of
Ahava, that we might
afflict ourselves before our God, to seek of him a right
way for us, and for our little ones, and for all our substance.
And there by the
Ahava Canal I proclaimed a fast, so that we might humble ourselves before our God and ask Him for a safe journey for us and our children, with all our possessions.
For I was
ashamed to require of the king a band of soldiers and
horsemen to help us against the enemy in the
way: because we had spoken unto the king, saying, The hand of our God is upon all them for good that seek him; but his power and his wrath is against all them that
forsake him.
For I was
ashamed to ask the king for an
escort of soldiers and
horsemen to protect us from our enemies on the road, since we had told him, “The hand of our God is
gracious to all who seek Him, but His great anger is against all who
forsake Him.”
Then we departed from the river of
Ahava on the
twelfth day of the first month, to go unto Jerusalem: and the hand of our God was upon us, and he delivered us from the hand of the enemy, and of such as lay in wait by the
way.
On the
twelfth day of the first month we set out from the
Ahava Canal to go to Jerusalem, and the hand of our God was upon us to protect us from the hands of the enemies and
bandits along the
way.
Then he said unto them, Go your
way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye
sorry; for the joy of the LORD is your strength.
Then
Nehemiah told them, “Go and eat what is rich, drink what is sweet, and send out portions to those who have nothing prepared, since
today is holy to our Lord. Do not
grieve, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.”
And all the people went their
way to eat, and to drink, and to send portions, and to make great
mirth, because they had understood the words that were declared unto them.
Then all the people began to eat and drink, to send out portions, and to
rejoice greatly, because they understood the words that had been made known to them.
Moreover thou leddest them in the day by a
cloudy pillar; and in the night by a
pillar of fire, to give them light in the
way wherein they should go.
You led them with a
pillar of cloud by day and a
pillar of fire by night, to light for them the
way in which they should travel.
Yet thou in thy
manifold mercies forsookest them not in the wilderness: the
pillar of the cloud departed not from them by day, to lead them in the
way; neither the
pillar of fire by night, to
shew them light, and the
way wherein they should go.
You in Your great
compassion did not
forsake them in the wilderness. By day the
pillar of cloud never turned away from guiding them on their path; and by the night the
pillar of fire
illuminated the
way they should go.
For they have not served thee in their kingdom, and in thy great goodness that thou gavest them, and in the large and fat land which thou gavest before them, neither turned they from their wicked works.
For even while they were in their kingdom, with the abundant goodness that You had given them, and in the
spacious and fertile land that You had set before them, they would not serve You or turn from their wicked
ways.
Zanoah,
Adullam, and in their villages, at
Lachish, and the fields thereof, at Azekah, and in the villages thereof. And they dwelt from Beer-
sheba unto the valley of
Hinnom.
Zanoah,
Adullam, and their villages; in
Lachish and its fields; and in Azekah and its villages. So they settled from
Beersheba all the
way to the Valley of
Hinnom.
So
Mordecai went his
way, and did according to all that
Esther had commanded him.
And
Haman told them of the glory of his riches, and the multitude of his children, and all the things wherein the king had promoted him, and how he had advanced him above the princes and servants of the king.
Haman recounted to them his glorious wealth, his many sons, and all the
ways the king had honored and promoted him over the other officials and servants.
Why is light given to a man whose
way is
hid, and whom God hath
hedged in?
Why is life given to a man whose
way is hidden, whom God has
hedged in?
Is not this thy fear, thy confidence, thy hope, and the uprightness of thy ways?
Is your reverence not your confidence, and the uprightness of your ways your hope?
The paths of their way are turned aside; they go to nothing, and perish.
Caravans turn aside from their routes; they go into the wasteland and perish.
He shall
lean upon his house, but it shall not stand: he shall hold it fast, but it shall not
endure.
He leans on his web, but it gives
way; he holds fast, but it does not
endure.
Behold, this is the joy of his way, and out of the earth shall others grow.
Surely this is the joy of his way; yet others will spring from the dust.
He taketh away the heart of the chief of the people of the earth, and causeth them to
wander in a wilderness where there is no
way.
He deprives the earth’s leaders of reason and makes them
wander in a
trackless wasteland.
Though he
slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own
ways before him.
Though He
slay me, I will hope in Him. I will still defend my
ways to His face.
When a few years are come, then I shall go the way whence I shall not return.
For when only a few years are past I will go the way of no return.
The righteous also shall hold on his way, and he that hath clean hands shall be stronger and stronger.
Yet a righteous one holds to his way, and the one with clean hands grows stronger.
The
snare is laid for him in the ground, and a
trap for him in the
way.
A
noose is hidden in the ground, and a
trap lies in his path.
He hath
fenced up my
way that I cannot pass, and he hath set darkness in my paths.
He has blocked my
way so I cannot pass; He has
veiled my paths with darkness.
His troops come together, and raise up their
way against me, and
encamp round about my tabernacle.
His troops advance together; they construct a
ramp against me and
encamp around my tent.
Therefore they say unto God, Depart from us; for we desire not the knowledge of thy ways.
Yet they say to God: ‘Leave us alone! For we have no desire to know Your ways.
Have ye not asked them that go by the
way? and do ye not know their
tokens,
Have you never asked those who travel the roads? Do you not accept their reports?
Who shall declare his way to his face? and who shall repay him what he hath done?
Who denounces his
behavior to his face? Who repays him for what he has done?
Is it any pleasure to the
Almighty, that thou art righteous? or is it gain to him that thou makest thy
ways perfect?
Does it delight the
Almighty that you are righteous? Does He profit if your
ways are
blameless?
Hast thou marked the old
way which wicked men have
trodden?
Will you stay on the ancient path that wicked men have
trod?
Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall
shine upon thy
ways.
Your decisions will be carried out, and light will
shine on your
ways.
But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.
Yet He knows the way I have taken; when He has tested me, I will come forth as gold.
My foot hath held his steps, his way have I kept, and not declined.
My feet have followed in His tracks; I have kept His way without turning aside.
They turn the
needy out of the
way: the poor of the earth hide themselves together.
They
push the
needy off the road and force all the poor of the land into hiding.
They are of those that
rebel against the light; they know not the
ways thereof, nor
abide in the paths thereof.
Then there are those who
rebel against the light, not knowing its
ways or staying on its paths.
He is swift as the waters; their portion is
cursed in the earth: he beholdeth not the
way of the vineyards.
They are but
foam on the surface of the water; their portion of the land is
cursed, so that no one turns toward their vineyards.
Though it be given him to be in safety,
whereon he resteth; yet his eyes are upon their
ways.
He gives them a sense of security, but His eyes are on their ways.
They are
exalted for a little while, but are gone and brought low; they are taken out of the
way as all other, and cut off as the tops of the ears of corn.
They are
exalted for a moment, then they are gone; they are brought low and gathered up like all others; they are cut off like heads of grain.
Lo, these are parts of his
ways: but how little a portion is heard of him? but the
thunder of his power who can understand?
Indeed, these are but the fringes of His
ways; how
faint is the
whisper we hear of Him! Who then can understand the
thunder of His power?”
I will teach you by the hand of God: that which is with the
Almighty will I not
conceal.
God understandeth the way thereof, and he knoweth the place thereof.
But God understands its way, and He knows its place.
when He set a limit for the rain and a path for the
thunderbolt,
I chose out their way, and sat chief, and dwelt as a king in the army, as one that comforteth the mourners.
I chose their course and presided as chief. So I dwelt as a king among his troops, as a comforter of the mourners.
Upon my right hand rise the youth; they
push away my feet, and they raise up against me the
ways of their destruction.
The
rabble arises at my right; they lay snares for my feet and build siege ramps against me.
Doth not he see my
ways, and count all my steps?
Does He not see my ways and count my every step?
If my step hath turned out of the
way, and mine heart walked after mine eyes, and if any
blot hath
cleaved to mine hands;
If my steps have turned from the path, if my heart has followed my eyes, or if impurity has
stuck to my hands,
For God speaketh once,
yea twice, yet man perceiveth it not.
For God speaks in one way and in another, yet no one notices.
