weep.

weeks from the time you first put the
sickle to the standing grain.

weeks unto the LORD thy God with a tribute of a
freewill offering of thine hand, which thou shalt give unto the LORD thy God, according as the LORD thy God hath blessed thee:

Weeks to the LORD your God with a
freewill offering that you give in proportion to how the LORD your God has blessed you,

dost but

riddle unto the children of my people, and hast not told it me. And he said unto her, Behold, I have not told it my father nor my mother, and shall I tell it thee?
Then
Samson’s wife came to him,
weeping, and said, “You
hate me! You do not really love me! You have
posed to my people a
riddle, but have not explained it to me.” “Look,” he said, “I have not even explained it to my father or mother, so why should I explain it to you?”

grieved? Am I not better to you than ten sons?”

weeping?” And they relayed to him the words of the men from
Jabesh.
Then David and the people that were with him lifted up their voice and
wept, until they had no more power to

Ye daughters of Israel,
weep over Saul, who clothed you in scarlet, with other delights, who put on ornaments of gold upon your

wept, but when he died, you got up and
ate.”

wept with a loud voice, and all the people passed over: the king also himself passed over the

But David continued up the Mount of Olives,
weeping as he went up. His head was covered, and he was walking
barefoot. And all the people with him covered their heads and went up,
weeping as they went.

Joab, Behold, the king
weepeth and mourneth for

Elisha fixed his
gaze steadily on him until
Hazael became uncomfortable. Then the man of God began to
weep.
And
Hazael said, Why
weepeth my lord? And he answered, Because I know the evil that thou
wilt do unto the children of Israel: their strong holds
wilt thou set on fire, and their young men
wilt thou
slay with the sword, and
wilt dash their children, and
rip up their women with child.
“Why is my lord
weeping?” asked
Hazael. “Because I know the evil you will do to the Israelites,”
Elisha replied. “You will set fire to their fortresses, kill their young men with the sword,
dash their little ones to pieces, and
rip open their
pregnant women.”
Even after a certain rate every day, offering according to the commandment of Moses, on the sabbaths, and on the new moons, and on the solemn feasts, three times in the year, even in the feast of
unleavened bread, and in the feast of
weeks, and in the feast of tabernacles.
He observed the daily requirement for offerings according to the commandment of Moses for Sabbaths, New Moons, and the three annual appointed feasts—the Feast of

Weeks, and the Feast of Tabernacles.
Because thine heart was tender, and thou
didst humble
thyself before God, when thou heardest his words against this place, and against the inhabitants thereof, and humbledst
thyself before me, and
didst rend thy clothes, and
weep before me; I have even heard thee also, saith the LORD.
because your heart was tender and you humbled
yourself before God when you heard His words against this place and against its people, and because you have humbled
yourself before Me and you have
torn your clothes and
wept before Me, I have heard you,’ declares the LORD.
So that the people could not
discern the noise of the
shout of joy from the noise of the
weeping of the people: for the people
shouted with a loud
shout, and the noise was heard
afar off.
The people could not distinguish the shouts of joy from the sound of
weeping, because the people were making so much noise. And the sound was heard from
afar.
Now when
Ezra had prayed, and when he had
confessed,
weeping and casting himself down before the house of God, there assembled unto him out of Israel a very great congregation of men and women and children: for the people
wept very
sore.
While
Ezra prayed and made this confession,
weeping and falling facedown before the house of God, a very large assembly of Israelites—men, women, and children—gathered around him, and the people
wept bitterly as well.
And
Nehemiah, which is the Tirshatha, and
Ezra the priest the
scribe, and the Levites that taught the people, said unto all the people, This day is holy unto the LORD your God;
mourn not, nor
weep. For all the people
wept, when they heard the words of the law.
Nehemiah the governor,
Ezra the priest and
scribe, and the Levites who were
instructing the people said to all of them, “This day is holy to the LORD your God. Do not
mourn or
weep.” For all the people were
weeping as they heard the words of the Law.

mourning among the Jews. They fasted,
wept, and
lamented, and many lay in
sackcloth and ashes.
And
Esther spake yet again before the king, and fell down at his feet, and
besought him with tears to put away the mischief of
Haman the Agagite, and his
device that he had devised against the Jews.
And once again,
Esther addressed the king. She fell at his feet
weeping and
begged him to
revoke the evil scheme of
Haman the Agagite, which he had devised against the Jews.
And when they lifted up their eyes
afar off, and knew him not, they lifted up their voice, and
wept; and they rent every one his
mantle, and
sprinkled dust upon their heads toward heaven.
When they lifted up their eyes from
afar, they could barely recognize Job. They began to
weep aloud, and each man
tore his
robe and threw dust in the air over his head.
My face is foul with
weeping, and my eyelids is the shadow of death;
My face is red with
weeping, and deep shadows ring my eyes;
Those that remain of him shall be buried in death: and his widows shall not
weep.
His survivors will be buried by the plague, and their widows will not
weep for them.
Did not I
weep for him that was in trouble? was not my soul
grieved for the poor?
My
harp also is turned to
mourning, and my organ into the voice of them that
weep.
If my land cry against me, or that the furrows likewise thereof
complain;
if my land
cries out against me and its furrows
weep together,
Depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity; for the LORD hath heard the voice of my
weeping.
Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity, for the LORD has heard my
weeping.
For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life:
weeping may
endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.
For His anger is fleeting, but His favor lasts a lifetime.
Weeping may stay the night, but joy comes in the morning.
Hear my prayer, O LORD, and give ear unto my cry; hold not thy peace at my tears: for I am a stranger with thee, and a
sojourner, as all my fathers were.
Hear my prayer, O LORD, and give ear to my cry for help; do not be
deaf to my
weeping. For I am a foreigner dwelling with You, a stranger like all my fathers.
For I have eaten ashes like bread, and mingled my drink with
weeping,
For I have eaten ashes like bread and mixed my drink with tears
He that goeth forth and
weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with
rejoicing, bringing his
sheaves with him.
He who goes out
weeping, bearing a
trail of seed, will surely return with shouts of joy, carrying
sheaves of grain.
A time to
weep, and a time to
laugh; a time to
mourn, and a time to dance;
a time to
weep and a time to
laugh, a time to
mourn and a time to dance,
He is gone up to Bajith, and to Dibon, the high places, to
weep: Moab shall
howl over
Nebo, and over Medeba: on all their heads shall be
baldness, and every
beard cut off.
Dibon goes up to its temple to
weep at its high places. Moab wails over
Nebo, as well as over Medeba. Every head is
shaved, every
beard is cut off.
In their streets they shall
gird themselves with
sackcloth: on the tops of their houses, and in their streets, every one shall
howl,
weeping abundantly.
In its streets they wear
sackcloth; on the rooftops and in the public squares they all
wail, falling down
weeping.
My heart shall cry out for Moab; his fugitives shall
flee unto Zoar, an
heifer of three years old: for by the mounting up of Luhith with
weeping shall they go it up; for in the way of Horonaim they shall raise up a cry of destruction.
My heart
cries out over Moab; her fugitives
flee as far as Zoar, as far as Eglath-shelishiyah. With
weeping they
ascend the slope of Luhith; they
lament their destruction on the road to Horonaim.
Therefore I will
bewail with the
weeping of Jazer the vine of Sibmah: I will water thee with my tears, O
Heshbon, and Elealeh: for the
shouting for thy summer fruits and for thy harvest is fallen.
So I
weep with Jazer for the vines of Sibmah; I
drench Heshbon and Elealeh with my tears.
Triumphant shouts have fallen silent over your summer fruit and your harvest.
Therefore said I, Look away from me; I will
weep bitterly, labour not to comfort me, because of the
spoiling of the daughter of my people.
Therefore I said, “Turn away from me, let me
weep bitterly! Do not try to
console me over the destruction of the daughter of my people.”
For the people shall dwell in
Zion at Jerusalem: thou shalt
weep no more: he will be very
gracious unto thee at the voice of thy cry; when he shall hear it, he will answer thee.
O people in
Zion who dwell in Jerusalem, you will
weep no more. He will surely be
gracious when you cry for help; when He hears, He will answer you.
Behold, their
valiant ones shall cry without: the ambassadors of peace shall
weep bitterly.
Behold, their
valiant ones cry
aloud in the streets; the envoys of peace
weep bitterly.
And I will
rejoice in Jerusalem, and joy in my people: and the voice of
weeping shall be no more heard in her, nor the voice of crying.
I will
rejoice in Jerusalem and take delight in My people. The sounds of
weeping and crying will no longer be heard in her.
A voice was heard upon the high places,
weeping and supplications of the children of Israel: for they have
perverted their way, and they have forgotten the LORD their God.
A voice is heard on the barren heights, the children of Israel
weeping and
begging for mercy, because they have
perverted their ways and forgotten the LORD their God.
Neither say they in their heart, Let us now fear the LORD our God, that giveth rain, both the former and the latter, in his season: he reserveth unto us the appointed weeks of the harvest.
They have not said in their hearts, ‘Let us fear the LORD our God, who gives the rains, both autumn and spring, in season, who keeps for us the appointed weeks of harvest.’
Oh that my head were waters, and mine eyes a fountain of tears, that I might
weep day and night for the slain of the daughter of my people!
Oh, that my head were a spring of water, and my eyes a fountain of tears! I would
weep day and night over the slain daughter of my people.
For the mountains will I take up a
weeping and
wailing, and for the habitations of the wilderness a
lamentation, because they are burned up, so that none can pass through them; neither can men hear the voice of the cattle; both the fowl of the heavens and the beast are fled; they are gone.
I will take up a
weeping and
wailing for the mountains, a
dirge over the wilderness pasture, for they have been
scorched so no one passes through, and the lowing of cattle is not heard. Both the birds of the air and the beasts have fled; they have gone away.
But if ye will not hear it, my soul shall
weep in secret places for your pride; and mine eye shall
weep sore, and run down with tears, because the LORD’S flock is carried away
captive.
But if you do not
listen, I will
weep in secret because of your pride. My eyes will overflow with tears, because the LORD’s flock has been taken
captive.
Weep ye not for the dead, neither
bemoan him: but
weep sore for him that goeth away: for he shall return no more, nor see his native country.
Do not
weep for the dead king; do not
mourn his loss.
Weep bitterly for the one who is exiled, for he will never return to see his native land.
They shall come with
weeping, and with supplications will I lead them: I will cause them to walk by the rivers of waters in a straight way, wherein they shall not
stumble: for I am a father to Israel, and Ephraim is my
firstborn.
They will come with
weeping, and by their
supplication I will lead them; I will make them walk beside streams of waters, on a level path where they will not
stumble. For I am Israel’s Father, and Ephraim is My
firstborn.”
Thus saith the LORD; A voice was heard in
Ramah,
lamentation, and bitter
weeping;
Rahel weeping for her children refused to be comforted for her children, because they were not.
This is what the LORD says: “A voice is heard in
Ramah,
mourning and great
weeping,
Rachel weeping for her children, and refusing to be comforted, because they are no more.”
Thus saith the LORD;
Refrain thy voice from
weeping, and thine eyes from tears: for thy work shall be rewarded, saith the LORD; and they shall come again from the land of the enemy.
This is what the LORD says: “Keep your voice from
weeping and your eyes from tears, for the reward for your work will come, declares the LORD. Then your children will return from the land of the enemy.
And
Ishmael the son of Nethaniah went forth from
Mizpah to meet them,
weeping all along as he went: and it came to pass, as he met them, he said unto them, Come to Gedaliah the son of
Ahikam.
For in the going up of Luhith continual
weeping shall go up; for in the going down of Horonaim the enemies have heard a cry of destruction.
For on the
ascent to Luhith they
weep bitterly as they go, and on the descent to Horonaim
cries of distress resound over the destruction:
O vine of Sibmah, I will
weep for thee with the
weeping of Jazer: thy plants are gone over the sea, they reach even to the sea of Jazer: the
spoiler is fallen upon thy summer fruits and upon thy
vintage.
I will
weep for you, O vine of Sibmah, more than I
weep for Jazer. Your tendrils have extended to the sea; they reach even to Jazer. The destroyer has descended on your summer fruit and
grape harvest.
In those days, and in that time, saith the LORD, the children of Israel shall come, they and the children of Judah together, going and
weeping: they shall go, and seek the LORD their God.
“In those days and at that time, declares the LORD, the children of Israel and the children of Judah will come together,
weeping as they come, and will seek the LORD their God.
She
weepeth sore in the night, and her tears are on her cheeks: among all her lovers she hath none to comfort her: all her friends have dealt
treacherously with her, they are become her enemies.
She
weeps aloud in the night, with tears upon her cheeks. Among all her lovers there is no one to comfort her. All her friends have
betrayed her; they have become her enemies.
For these things I
weep; mine eye, mine eye runneth down with water, because the comforter that should
relieve my soul is far from me: my children are
desolate, because the enemy prevailed.
For these things I
weep; my eyes flow with tears. For there is no one nearby to comfort me, no one to revive my soul. My children are destitute because the enemy has prevailed.
Mine eyes do fail with tears, my
bowels are troubled, my liver is poured upon the earth, for the destruction of the daughter of my people; because the children and the sucklings
swoon in the streets of the city.
My eyes fail from
weeping; I am
churning within. My heart is poured out in grief over the destruction of the daughter of my people, because children and infants
faint in the streets of the city.
Then he brought me to the door of the gate of the LORD’S house which was toward the north; and, behold, there sat women
weeping for
Tammuz.
Then He brought me to the entrance of the north gate of the house of the LORD, and I saw women sitting there,
weeping for
Tammuz.
Son of man, behold, I take away from thee the desire of thine eyes with a stroke: yet neither shalt thou
mourn nor
weep, neither shall thy tears run down.
“Son of man, behold, I am about to take away the desire of your eyes with a fatal blow. But you must not
mourn or
weep or let your tears flow.
And your tires shall be upon your heads, and your
shoes upon your feet: ye shall not
mourn nor
weep; but ye shall pine away for your
iniquities, and
mourn one toward another.
Your turbans will remain on your heads and your
sandals on your feet. You will not
mourn or
weep, but you will waste away because of your sins, and you will
groan among
yourselves.
And they shall make themselves utterly
bald for thee, and
gird them with
sackcloth, and they shall
weep for thee with bitterness of heart and bitter
wailing.
Seventy
weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the
transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make
reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in
everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to
anoint the most Holy.
Seventy
weeks are decreed for your people and your holy city to stop their
transgression, to put an end to sin, to make
atonement for iniquity, to bring in
everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy, and to
anoint the Most Holy Place.
Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the
Messiah the Prince shall be seven
weeks, and
threescore and two
weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in
troublous times.
Know and understand this: From the
issuance of the decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem, until the
Messiah, the Prince, there will be seven
weeks and sixty-two
weeks. It will be rebuilt with streets and a
trench, but in times of distress.
And after
threescore and two
weeks shall
Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.
Then after the sixty-two
weeks the
Messiah will be cut off and will have nothing. Then the people of the prince who is to come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end will come like a flood, and until the end there will be war; desolations have been decreed.
And he shall
confirm the covenant with many for one
week: and in the midst of the
week he shall cause the sacrifice and the
oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it
desolate, even until the
consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the
desolate.
And he will
confirm a covenant with many for one
week, but in the middle of the
week he will put an end to sacrifice and offering. And on the wing of the temple will come the
abomination that causes
desolation, until the decreed destruction is poured out upon him.”
In those days I Daniel was
mourning three full
weeks.
In those days I, Daniel, was
mourning for three full
weeks.
I
ate no pleasant bread, neither came flesh nor wine in my mouth, neither did I
anoint myself at all, till three whole
weeks were fulfilled.
I
ate no rich food, no meat or wine entered my mouth, and I did not
anoint myself with oil until the three
weeks were completed.
They have spoken words,
swearing falsely in making a covenant: thus judgment springeth up as
hemlock in the furrows of the field.
They speak mere words; with false oaths they make covenants. So judgment springs up like poisonous weeds in the furrows of a field.
Awake, ye drunkards, and
weep; and
howl, all ye drinkers of wine, because of the new wine; for it is cut off from your mouth.
Wake up, you drunkards, and
weep;
wail, all you drinkers of wine, because of the sweet wine, for it has been cut off from your mouth.
Therefore also now, saith the LORD, turn ye even to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with
weeping, and with
mourning:
“Yet even now,” declares the LORD, “return to Me with all your heart, with fasting,
weeping, and
mourning.”
Let the priests, the ministers of the LORD,
weep between the
porch and the altar, and let them say,
Spare thy people, O LORD, and give not thine
heritage to reproach, that the heathen should rule over them: wherefore should they say among the people, Where is their God?
Let the priests who minister before the LORD
weep between the
portico and the altar, saying, “
Spare Your people, O LORD, and do not make Your
heritage a reproach, an object of
scorn among the nations. Why should they say among the peoples, ‘Where is their God?’”
The waters compassed me about, even to the soul: the depth closed me round about, the
weeds were
wrapped about my head.
Declare ye it not at
Gath,
weep ye not at all: in the house of Aphrah roll
thyself in the dust.
Do not tell it in
Gath; do not
weep at all. Roll in the dust in Beth-leaphrah.
Therefore as I live, saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, Surely Moab shall be as
Sodom, and the children of
Ammon as
Gomorrah, even the breeding of
nettles, and saltpits, and a perpetual
desolation: the residue of my people shall
spoil them, and the
remnant of my people shall possess them.
Therefore, as surely as I live,” declares the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, “surely Moab will be like
Sodom and the
Ammonites like
Gomorrah— a place of
weeds and salt pits, a perpetual wasteland. The
remnant of My people will
plunder them; the remainder of My nation will dispossess them.”
And to speak unto the priests which were in the house of the LORD of hosts, and to the prophets, saying, Should I
weep in the fifth month, separating myself, as I have done these so many years?
by asking the priests of the house of the LORD of Hosts, as well as the prophets, “Should I
weep and fast in the fifth month, as I have done these many years?”
And this have ye done again, covering the altar of the LORD with tears, with
weeping, and with crying out,
insomuch that he regardeth not the offering any more, or receiveth it with good will at your hand.
And this is another thing you do: You cover the altar of the LORD with tears, with
weeping and
groaning, because He no longer regards your offerings or receives them
gladly from your hands.
But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be
weeping and
gnashing of teeth.
But the sons of the kingdom will be thrown into the outer darkness, where there will be
weeping and
gnashing of teeth.”
But while men
slept, his enemy came and
sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.
But when the
blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also.
When the wheat
sprouted and bore grain, then the
weeds also appeared.
So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir,
didst not thou
sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares?
The owner’s servants came to him and said, ‘Sir, didn’t you
sow good seed in your field? Where then did the
weeds come from?’
But he said,
Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them.
‘No,’ he said, ‘if you pull the
weeds now, you might
uproot the wheat with them.
Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my
barn.
Let both grow together until the harvest. At that time I will tell the harvesters: First collect the
weeds and
tie them in bundles to be burned; then gather the wheat into my
barn.’”
