And thy
carcase shall be meat unto all fowls of the air, and unto the beasts of the earth, and no man shall
fray them away.
Your corpses
will be food for all the birds of the air and beasts of the earth, with no one to
scare them away.
The LORD
will afflict you with the boils of Egypt, with tumors and scabs and
itch from which you cannot be cured.
The LORD
will afflict you with madness, blindness, and confusion of mind,
and at
noon you
will grope about like a blind man in the darkness. You
will not
prosper in your ways. Day after day you
will be
oppressed and
plundered, with no one to save you.
Thou shalt
betroth a wife, and another man shall lie with her: thou shalt build an house, and thou shalt not dwell therein: thou shalt plant a
vineyard, and shalt not gather the grapes thereof.
You
will be
pledged in marriage to a woman, but another man
will violate her. You
will build a house but
will not live in it. You
will plant a
vineyard but
will not enjoy its fruit.
Thine ox shall be slain before thine eyes, and thou shalt not eat thereof: thine
ass shall be violently taken away from before thy face, and shall not be restored to thee: thy sheep shall be given unto thine enemies, and thou shalt have none to
rescue them.
Your ox
will be slaughtered before your eyes, but you
will not eat any of it. Your
donkey will be taken away and not returned to you. Your flock
will be given to your enemies, and no one
will save you.
Thy sons and thy daughters shall be given unto another people, and thine eyes shall look, and fail with longing for them all the day long: and there shall be no might in thine hand.
Your sons and daughters
will be given to another nation, while your eyes grow
weary looking for them day after day, with no power in your hand.
The fruit of thy land, and all thy labours, shall a nation which thou knowest not eat up; and thou shalt be only
oppressed and
crushed alway:
A people you do not know
will eat the produce of your land and of all your
toil. All your days you
will be
oppressed and
crushed.
So that thou shalt be
mad for the sight of thine eyes which thou shalt see.
You
will be driven
mad by the sights you see.
The LORD shall
smite thee in the knees, and in the legs, with a
sore botch that cannot be
healed, from the sole of thy foot unto the top of thy head.
The LORD
will afflict you with painful, incurable boils on your knees and thighs, from the soles of your feet to the top of your head.
The LORD shall bring thee, and thy king which thou shalt set over thee, unto a nation which neither thou nor thy fathers have known; and there shalt thou serve other gods, wood and stone.
The LORD
will bring you and the king you
appoint to a nation neither you nor your fathers have known, and there you
will worship other gods—gods of wood and stone.
You
will become an object of
horror,
scorn, and
ridicule among all the nations to which the LORD
will drive you.
Thou shalt carry much seed out into the field, and shalt gather but little in; for the
locust shall
consume it.
You
will sow much seed in the field but harvest little, because the locusts
will consume it.
Thou shalt plant vineyards, and dress them, but shalt neither drink of the wine, nor gather the grapes; for the worms shall eat them.
You
will plant and
cultivate vineyards, but
will neither drink the wine nor gather the grapes, because worms
will eat them.
Thou shalt have olive trees throughout all thy coasts, but thou shalt not
anoint thyself with the oil; for thine olive shall cast his fruit.
You
will have olive trees throughout your territory but
will never
anoint yourself with oil, because the olives
will drop off.
Thou shalt
beget sons and daughters, but thou shalt not enjoy them; for they shall go into captivity.
You will father sons and daughters, but they will not remain yours, because they will go into captivity.
Swarms of locusts
will consume all your trees and the produce of your land.
The stranger that is within thee shall get up above thee very high; and thou shalt come down very low.
The foreigner living among you will rise higher and higher above you, while you sink down lower and lower.
He shall
lend to thee, and thou shalt not
lend to him: he shall be the head, and thou shalt be the tail.
He
will lend to you, but you
will not
lend to him. He
will be the head, and you
will be the tail.
Moreover all these curses shall come upon thee, and shall pursue thee, and overtake thee, till thou be destroyed; because thou hearkenedst not unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to keep his commandments and his statutes which he commanded thee:
All these curses will come upon you. They will pursue you and overtake you until you are destroyed, since you did not obey the LORD your God and keep the commandments and statutes He gave you.
And they shall be upon thee for a sign and for a wonder, and upon thy seed for ever.
These curses
will be a sign and a wonder upon you and your descendants
forever.
Therefore shalt thou serve thine enemies which the LORD shall send against thee, in hunger, and in
thirst, and in nakedness, and in want of all things: and he shall put a yoke of iron upon thy neck, until he have destroyed thee.
you
will serve your enemies the LORD
will send against you in famine,
thirst, nakedness, and
destitution. He
will place an iron yoke on your neck until He has destroyed you.
The LORD shall bring a nation against thee from far, from the end of the earth, as swift as the eagle flieth; a nation whose tongue thou shalt not understand;
The LORD
will bring a nation from
afar, from the ends of the earth, to
swoop down upon you like an eagle—a nation whose language you
will not understand,
And he shall eat the fruit of thy cattle, and the fruit of thy land, until thou be destroyed: which also shall not leave thee either corn, wine, or oil, or the increase of thy
kine, or flocks of thy sheep, until he have destroyed thee.
They
will eat the offspring of your
livestock and the produce of your land until you are destroyed. They
will leave you no grain or new wine or oil, no
calves of your herds or lambs of your flocks, until they have caused you to perish.
And he shall
besiege thee in all thy gates, until thy high and
fenced walls come down, wherein thou trustedst, throughout all thy land: and he shall
besiege thee in all thy gates throughout all thy land, which the LORD thy God hath given thee.
They
will besiege all the cities throughout your land, until the high and fortified walls in which you trust have fallen. They
will besiege all your cities throughout the land that the LORD your God has given you.
And thou shalt eat the fruit of thine own body, the flesh of thy sons and of thy daughters, which the LORD thy God hath given thee, in the siege, and in the straitness,
wherewith thine enemies shall distress thee:
Then you
will eat the fruit of your
womb, the flesh of the sons and daughters whom the LORD your God has given you, in the siege and distress that your enemy
will inflict on you.
So that the man that is tender among you, and very delicate, his eye shall be evil toward his brother, and toward the wife of his
bosom, and toward the
remnant of his children which he shall leave:
The most gentle and refined man among you
will begrudge his brother, the wife he embraces, and the rest of his children who have survived,
So that he
will not give to any of them of the flesh of his children whom he shall eat: because he hath nothing left him in the siege, and in the straitness,
wherewith thine enemies shall distress thee in all thy gates.
refusing to share with any of them the flesh of his children he
will eat because he has nothing left in the siege and distress that your enemy
will inflict on you within all your gates.
The tender and delicate woman among you, which would not
adventure to set the sole of her foot upon the ground for delicateness and tenderness, her eye shall be evil toward the husband of her
bosom, and toward her son, and toward her daughter,
The most gentle and refined woman among you, so gentle and refined she would not
venture to set the sole of her foot on the ground,
will begrudge the husband she embraces and her son and daughter
And toward her young one that cometh out from between her feet, and toward her children which she shall bear: for she shall eat them for want of all things secretly in the siege and straitness,
wherewith thine enemy shall distress thee in thy gates.
the
afterbirth that comes from between her legs and the children she bears, because she
will secretly eat them for lack of anything else in the siege and distress that your enemy
will inflict on you within your gates.
Then the LORD
will make thy plagues wonderful, and the plagues of thy seed, even great plagues, and of long continuance, and
sore sicknesses, and of long continuance.
He
will bring upon you and your descendants extraordinary disasters, severe and lasting plagues, and terrible and
chronic sicknesses.
Moreover he
will bring upon thee all the diseases of Egypt, which thou
wast afraid of; and they shall
cleave unto thee.
He
will afflict you again with all the diseases you
dreaded in Egypt, and they
will cling to you.
Also every sickness, and every plague, which is not written in the book of this law, them will the LORD bring upon thee, until thou be destroyed.
The LORD will also bring upon you every sickness and plague not recorded in this Book of the Law, until you are destroyed.
And ye shall be left few in number, whereas ye were as the stars of heaven for multitude; because thou wouldest not obey the voice of the LORD thy God.
You who were as numerous as the stars in the sky will be left few in number, because you would not obey the voice of the LORD your God.
And it shall come to pass, that as the LORD
rejoiced over you to do you good, and to multiply you; so the LORD
will rejoice over you to destroy you, and to bring you to
nought; and ye shall be
plucked from off the land
whither thou goest to possess it.
Just as it pleased the LORD to make you
prosper and multiply, so also it
will please Him to
annihilate you and destroy you. And you
will be uprooted from the land you are entering to possess.
And the LORD shall
scatter thee among all people, from the one end of the earth even unto the other; and there thou shalt serve other gods, which neither thou nor thy fathers have known, even wood and stone.
Then the LORD
will scatter you among all the nations, from one end of the earth to the other, and there you
will worship other gods, gods of wood and stone, which neither you nor your fathers have known.
And among these nations shalt thou find no ease, neither shall the sole of thy foot have rest: but the LORD shall give thee there a
trembling heart, and failing of eyes, and sorrow of mind:
Among those nations you
will find no
repose, not even a resting place for the sole of your foot. There the LORD
will give you a
trembling heart, failing eyes, and a
despairing soul.
And thy life shall
hang in doubt before thee; and thou shalt fear day and night, and shalt have none assurance of thy life:
So your life
will hang in doubt before you, and you
will be afraid night and day, never certain of
survival.
In the morning thou shalt say, Would God it were even! and at even thou shalt say, Would God it were morning! for the fear of thine heart
wherewith thou shalt fear, and for the sight of thine eyes which thou shalt see.
In the morning you
will say, ‘If only it were evening!’ and in the evening you
will say, ‘If only it were morning!’—because of the
dread in your hearts of the
terrifying sights you
will see.
And the LORD shall bring thee into Egypt again with ships, by the way
whereof I spake unto thee, Thou shalt see it no more again: and there ye shall be sold unto your enemies for
bondmen and
bondwomen, and no man shall
buy you.
The LORD
will return you to Egypt in ships by a route that I said you should never see again. There you
will sell
yourselves to your enemies as male and female slaves, but no one
will buy you.”
And it come to pass, when he heareth the words of this
curse, that he
bless himself in his heart, saying, I shall have peace, though I walk in the imagination of mine heart, to add
drunkenness to
thirst:
because when such a person hears the words of this oath, he invokes a blessing on himself, saying, ‘I
will have peace, even though I walk in the
stubbornness of my own heart.’ This
will bring
disaster on the watered land as well as the dry.
The LORD
will not
spare him, but then the anger of the LORD and his jealousy shall smoke against that man, and all the curses that are written in this book shall lie upon him, and the LORD shall
blot out his name from under heaven.
The LORD
will never be
willing to
forgive him. Instead, His anger and jealousy
will burn against that man, and every
curse written in this book
will fall upon him. The LORD
will blot out his name from under heaven
So that the generation to come of your children that shall rise up after you, and the stranger that shall come from a far land, shall say, when they see the plagues of that land, and the sicknesses which the LORD hath laid upon it;
Then the generation to come—your sons who follow you and the foreigner who comes from a distant land—will see the plagues of the land and the sicknesses the LORD has inflicted on it.
And that the whole land thereof is
brimstone, and salt, and burning, that it is not sown, nor beareth, nor any grass groweth therein, like the overthrow of
Sodom, and
Gomorrah, Admah, and
Zeboim, which the LORD overthrew in his anger, and in his wrath:
All its soil
will be a burning waste of sulfur and salt, unsown and unproductive, with no plant growing on it, just like the destruction of
Sodom and
Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboiim, which the LORD overthrew in His fierce anger.
Even all nations shall say, Wherefore hath the LORD done thus unto this land? what meaneth the heat of this great anger?
So all the nations
will ask, ‘Why has the LORD done such a thing to this land? Why this great
outburst of anger?’
Then men shall say, Because they have
forsaken the covenant of the LORD God of their fathers, which he made with them when he brought them forth out of the land of Egypt:
And the people will answer, ‘It is because they abandoned the covenant of the LORD, the God of their fathers, which He made with them when He brought them out of the land of Egypt.
That then the LORD thy God
will turn thy captivity, and have
compassion upon thee, and
will return and gather thee from all the nations,
whither the LORD thy God hath scattered thee.
then He
will restore you from captivity and have
compassion on you and gather you from all the nations to which the LORD your God has scattered you.
If any of thine be driven out unto the outmost parts of heaven, from thence
will the LORD thy God gather thee, and from thence
will he
fetch thee:
Even if you have been banished to the
farthest horizon, He
will gather you and return you from there.
And the LORD thy God will bring thee into the land which thy fathers possessed, and thou shalt possess it; and he will do thee good, and multiply thee above thy fathers.
And the LORD your God
will bring you into the land your fathers possessed, and you
will take possession of it. He
will cause you to
prosper and multiply more than your fathers.
And the LORD thy God
will circumcise thine heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live.
The LORD your God
will circumcise your hearts and the hearts of your descendants, and you
will love Him with all your heart and with all your soul, so that you may live.
And the LORD thy God
will put all these curses upon thine enemies, and on them that
hate thee, which
persecuted thee.
Then the LORD your God
will put all these curses upon your enemies who
hate you and
persecute you.
And thou shalt return and obey the voice of the LORD, and do all his commandments which I command thee this day.
And you
will again obey the voice of the LORD and follow all His commandments I am giving you
today.
And the LORD thy God
will make thee
plenteous in every work of thine hand, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy land, for good: for the LORD
will again
rejoice over thee for good, as he
rejoiced over thy fathers:
So the LORD your God
will make you abound in all the work of your hands and in the fruit of your
womb, the offspring of your
livestock, and the produce of your land. Indeed, the LORD
will again delight in your goodness, as He delighted in that of your fathers,
It is not in heaven, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go up for us to heaven, and bring it unto us, that we may hear it, and do it?
It is not in heaven, that you should need to ask, ‘Who
will ascend into heaven to get it for us and
proclaim it, that we may obey it?’
Neither is it beyond the sea, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go over the sea for us, and bring it unto us, that we may hear it, and do it?
And it is not beyond the sea, that you should need to ask, ‘Who
will cross the sea to get it for us and
proclaim it, that we may obey it?’
I
denounce unto you this day, that ye shall surely perish, and that ye shall not
prolong your days upon the land,
whither thou passest over Jordan to go to possess it.
I declare to you
today that you
will surely perish; you shall not
prolong your days in the land that you are crossing the Jordan to possess.
That thou mayest love the LORD thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest
cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the LORD
sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.
and that you may love the LORD your God, obey Him, and hold fast to Him. For He is your life, and He
will prolong your life in the land that the LORD
swore to give to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.”
The LORD thy God, he will go over before thee, and he will destroy these nations from before thee, and thou shalt possess them: and Joshua, he shall go over before thee, as the LORD hath said.
The LORD your God Himself
will cross over
ahead of you. He
will destroy these nations before you, and you
will dispossess them. Joshua
will cross
ahead of you, as the LORD has said.
And the LORD shall do unto them as he did to Sihon and to
Og, kings of the
Amorites, and unto the land of them, whom he destroyed.
And the LORD
will do to them as He did to Sihon and
Og, the kings of the
Amorites, when He destroyed them along with their land.
And the LORD shall give them up before your face, that ye may do unto them according unto all the commandments which I have commanded you.
The LORD will deliver them over to you, and you must do to them exactly as I have commanded you.
Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that
doth go with thee; he
will not fail thee, nor
forsake thee.
Be strong and
courageous; do not be afraid or
terrified of them, for it is the LORD your God who goes with you; He
will never leave you nor
forsake you.”
And Moses called unto Joshua, and said unto him in the sight of all Israel, Be strong and of a good courage: for thou must go with this people unto the land which the LORD hath
sworn unto their fathers to give them; and thou shalt cause them to
inherit it.
Then Moses called for Joshua and said to him in the presence of all Israel, “Be strong and
courageous, for you
will go with this people into the land that the LORD
swore to their fathers to give them, and you shall give it to them as an inheritance.
And the LORD, he it is that
doth go before thee; he
will be with thee, he
will not fail thee, neither
forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.
The LORD Himself goes before you; He
will be with you. He
will never leave you nor
forsake you. Do not be afraid or discouraged.”
When all Israel is come to appear before the LORD thy God in the place which he shall choose, thou shalt read this law before all Israel in their hearing.
when all Israel comes before the LORD your God at the place He will choose, you are to read this law in the hearing of all Israel.
And that their children, which have not known any thing, may hear, and learn to fear the LORD your God, as long as ye live in the land
whither ye go over Jordan to possess it.
Then their children who do not know the law
will listen and learn to fear the LORD your God, as long as you live in the land that you are crossing the Jordan to possess.”
And the LORD said unto Moses, Behold, thou shalt sleep with thy fathers; and this people
will rise up, and go a
whoring after the gods of the strangers of the land,
whither they go to be among them, and
will forsake me, and break my covenant which I have made with them.
And the LORD said to Moses, “You
will soon rest with your fathers, and these people
will rise up and
prostitute themselves with the foreign gods of the land they are entering. They
will forsake Me and break the covenant I have made with them.
Then my anger shall be
kindled against them in that day, and I
will forsake them, and I
will hide my face from them, and they shall be
devoured, and many evils and troubles shall
befall them; so that they
will say in that day, Are not these evils come upon us, because our God is not among us?
On that day My anger
will burn against them, and I
will abandon them and hide My face from them, so that they
will be consumed, and many troubles and afflictions
will befall them. On that day they
will say, ‘Have not these disasters come upon us because our God is no longer with us?’
And I will surely hide my face in that day for all the evils which they shall have wrought, in that they are turned unto other gods.
And on that day I will surely hide My face because of all the evil they have done by turning to other gods.
For when I shall have brought them into the land which I
sware unto their fathers, that floweth with milk and honey; and they shall have eaten and filled themselves, and
waxen fat; then
will they turn unto other gods, and serve them, and
provoke me, and break my covenant.
When I have brought them into the land that I
swore to give their fathers, a land flowing with milk and honey, they
will eat their fill and
prosper. Then they
will turn to other gods and worship them, and they
will reject Me and break My covenant.
And it shall come to pass, when many evils and troubles are
befallen them, that this song shall
testify against them as a witness; for it shall not be forgotten out of the mouths of their seed: for I know their imagination which they go about, even now, before I have brought them into the land which I
sware.
And when many troubles and afflictions have come upon them, this song
will testify against them, because it
will not be forgotten from the lips of their descendants. For I know their inclination, even before I bring them into the land that I
swore to give them.”
And he gave Joshua the son of
Nun a charge, and said, Be strong and of a good courage: for thou shalt bring the children of Israel into the land which I
sware unto them: and I
will be with thee.
Then the LORD commissioned Joshua son of
Nun and said, “Be strong and
courageous, for you
will bring the Israelites into the land that I
swore to give them, and I
will be with you.”
For I know thy rebellion, and thy stiff neck: behold, while I am yet alive with you this day, ye have been
rebellious against the LORD; and how much more after my death?
For I know how
rebellious and stiff-necked you are. If you are already rebelling against the LORD while I am still alive, how much more
will you
rebel after my death!
For I know that after my death ye
will utterly corrupt
yourselves, and turn aside from the way which I have commanded you; and evil
will befall you in the latter days; because ye
will do evil in the sight of the LORD, to
provoke him to anger through the work of your hands.
For I know that after my death you
will become utterly corrupt and turn from the path I have commanded you. And in the days to come,
disaster will befall you because you
will do evil in the sight of the LORD to
provoke Him to anger by the work of your hands.”
Give ear, O ye heavens, and I will speak; and hear, O earth, the words of my mouth.
Give ear, O heavens, and I will speak; hear, O earth, the words of my mouth.
Because I
will publish the name of the LORD:
ascribe ye greatness unto our God.
Remember the days of old, consider the years of many generations: ask thy father, and he
will shew thee; thy elders, and they
will tell thee.
Remember the days of old; consider the years long past. Ask your father, and he will tell you, your elders, and they will inform you.
And he said, I
will hide my face from them, I
will see what their end shall be: for they are a very
froward generation, children in whom is no faith.
He said: “I
will hide My face from them; I
will see what
will be their end. For they are a
perverse generation— children of unfaithfulness.
They have moved me to jealousy with that which is not God; they have
provoked me to anger with their
vanities: and I
will move them to jealousy with those which are not a people; I
will provoke them to anger with a
foolish nation.
They have
provoked My jealousy by that which is not God; they have
enraged Me with their worthless idols. So I
will make them
jealous by those who are not a people; I
will make them
angry by a nation without understanding.
I
will heap mischiefs upon them; I
will spend mine arrows upon them.
I
will heap disasters upon them; I
will spend My arrows against them.
They shall be burnt with hunger, and
devoured with burning heat, and with bitter destruction: I
will also send the teeth of beasts upon them, with the poison of serpents of the dust.
They
will be wasted from hunger and
ravaged by
pestilence and bitter plague; I
will send the fangs of wild beasts against them, with the
venom of vipers that
slither in the dust.
The sword without, and terror within, shall destroy both the young man and the virgin, the
suckling also with the man of gray hairs.
Outside, the sword will take their children, and inside, terror will strike the young man and the young woman, the infant and the gray-haired man.
To me belongeth
vengeance, and recompence; their foot shall slide in due time: for the day of their
calamity is at hand, and the things that shall come upon them make
haste.
Vengeance is Mine; I
will repay. In due time their foot
will slip; for their day of
disaster is near, and their
doom is coming quickly.”
For the LORD shall judge his people, and
repent himself for his servants, when he
seeth that their power is gone, and there is none shut up, or left.
For the LORD
will vindicate His people and have
compassion on His servants when He sees that their strength is gone and no one remains, slave or free.
And he shall say, Where are their gods, their rock in whom they trusted,
He will say: “Where are their gods, the rock in which they took refuge,
If I
whet my
glittering sword, and mine hand take hold on judgment; I
will render
vengeance to mine enemies, and
will reward them that
hate me.
I
will make mine arrows
drunk with blood, and my sword shall
devour flesh; and that with the blood of the slain and of the
captives, from the beginning of revenges upon the enemy.
I
will make My arrows
drunk with blood, while My sword devours flesh— the blood of the slain and
captives, the heads of the enemy leaders.”
Rejoice, O heavens, with Him, and let all God’s angels worship Him.
Rejoice, O nations, with His people; for He
will avenge the blood of His children. He
will take
vengeance on His
adversaries and repay those who
hate Him; He
will cleanse His land and His people.
For it is not a vain thing for you; because it is your life: and through this thing ye shall
prolong your days in the land,
whither ye go over Jordan to possess it.
For they are not idle words to you, because they are your life, and by them you will live long in the land that you are crossing the Jordan to possess.”
And die in the mount
whither thou goest up, and be gathered unto thy people; as Aaron thy brother died in mount
Hor, and was gathered unto his people:
And there on the mountain that you
climb, you
will die and be gathered to your people, just as your brother Aaron died on Mount
Hor and was gathered to his people.
They shall teach Jacob thy judgments, and Israel thy law: they shall put incense before thee, and whole burnt sacrifice upon thine altar.
He will teach Your ordinances to Jacob and Your law to Israel; he will set incense before You and whole burnt offerings on Your altar.
And for the precious things of the earth and
fulness thereof, and for the good
will of him that dwelt in the
bush: let the blessing come upon the head of Joseph, and upon the top of the head of him that was separated from his brethren.
with the choice gifts of the land and everything in it, and with the favor of Him who dwelt in the burning
bush. May these rest on the head of Joseph and crown the
brow of the prince of his brothers.
His glory is like the
firstling of his
bullock, and his horns are like the horns of unicorns: with them he shall
push the people together to the ends of the earth: and they are the ten thousands of Ephraim, and they are the thousands of
Manasseh.
His majesty is like a
firstborn bull, and his horns are like those of a wild ox. With them he
will gore the nations, even to the ends of the earth. Such are the myriads of Ephraim, and such are the thousands of
Manasseh.”
They shall call the people unto the mountain; there they shall offer sacrifices of righteousness: for they shall
suck of the abundance of the seas, and of treasures
hid in the sand.
They will call the peoples to a mountain; there they will offer sacrifices of righteousness. For they will feast on the abundance of the seas and the hidden treasures of the sand.”
Happy art thou, O Israel: who is like unto thee, O people saved by the LORD, the shield of thy help, and who is the sword of thy
excellency! and thine enemies shall be found liars unto thee; and thou shalt
tread upon their high places.
Blessed are you, O Israel! Who is like you, a people saved by the LORD? He is the shield that protects you, the sword in which you
boast. Your enemies
will cower before you, and you shall
trample their high places.”
And the LORD said unto him, This is the land which I
sware unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, saying, I
will give it unto thy seed: I have caused thee to see it with thine eyes, but thou shalt not go over thither.
And the LORD said to him, “This is the land that I
swore to give Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob when I said, ‘I
will give it to your descendants.’ I have let you see it with your own eyes, but you
will not cross into it.”
Every place that the sole of your foot shall
tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses.
I have given you every place where the sole of your foot
will tread, just as I promised to Moses.
There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I
will be with thee: I
will not fail thee, nor
forsake thee.
No one shall stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so
will I be with you; I
will never leave you nor
forsake you.
This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt
meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
This Book of the Law must not depart from your mouth;
meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. For then you
will prosper and succeed in all you do.
Pass through the host, and command the people, saying, Prepare you
victuals; for within three days ye shall pass over this Jordan, to go in to possess the land, which the LORD your God giveth you to possess it.
“Go through the camp and tell the people, ‘Prepare your provisions, for within three days you will cross the Jordan to go in and take possession of the land that the LORD your God is giving you to possess.’”
Remember the word which Moses the servant of the LORD commanded you, saying, The LORD your God hath given you rest, and hath given you this land.
“Remember what Moses the servant of the LORD commanded you when he said, ‘The LORD your God will give you rest, and He will give you this land.’
