And there shall arise after them seven years of famine; and all the
plenty shall be forgotten in the land of Egypt; and the famine shall
consume the land;
but seven years of famine
will follow them. Then all the abundance in the land of Egypt
will be forgotten, and the famine
will devastate the land.
And the
plenty shall not be known in the land by reason of that famine following; for it shall be very
grievous.
The abundance in the land will not be remembered, since the famine that follows it will be so severe.
And for that the dream was doubled unto Pharaoh twice; it is because the thing is established by God, and God will shortly bring it to pass.
Moreover, because the dream was given to Pharaoh in two versions, the matter has been decreed by God, and He will carry it out shortly.
And that food shall be for store to the land against the seven years of famine, which shall be in the land of Egypt; that the land perish not through the famine.
This food will be a reserve for the land during the seven years of famine to come upon the land of Egypt. Then the country will not perish in the famine.”
Thou shalt be over my house, and according unto thy word shall all my people be ruled: only in the throne will I be greater than thou.
You shall be in charge of my house, and all my people are to obey your commands. Only with regard to the throne will I be greater than you.”
Hereby ye shall be proved: By the life of Pharaoh ye shall not go forth hence, except your youngest brother come
hither.
And this is how you will be tested: As surely as Pharaoh lives, you shall not leave this place unless your youngest brother comes here.
Send one of you, and let him
fetch your brother, and ye shall be kept in prison, that your words may be proved, whether there be any truth in you: or else by the life of Pharaoh surely ye are
spies.
Send one of your number to get your brother; the rest of you
will be confined so that the truth of your words may be tested. If they are untrue, then as surely as Pharaoh lives, you are
spies!”
And Joseph said unto them the third day, This do, and live; for I fear God:
and on the third day he said to them, “I fear God. So do this and you will live:
And the man, the lord of the country, said unto us,
Hereby shall I know that ye are true men; leave one of your brethren here with me, and take food for the famine of your households, and be gone:
Then the man who is lord of the land said to us, ‘This is how I
will know whether you are
honest: Leave one brother with me, take food to
relieve the hunger of your households, and go.
And bring your youngest brother unto me: then shall I know that ye are no
spies, but that ye are true men: so
will I deliver you your brother, and ye shall
traffick in the land.
But bring your youngest brother back to me so I
will know that you are not
spies but
honest men. Then I
will give your brother back to you, and you can trade in the land.’”
And Jacob their father said unto them, Me have ye
bereaved of my children: Joseph is not, and
Simeon is not, and ye
will take Benjamin away: all these things are against me.
Their father Jacob said to them, “You have deprived me of my sons. Joseph is gone and
Simeon is no more. Now you want to take Benjamin. Everything is going against me!”
And
Reuben spake unto his father, saying,
Slay my two sons, if I bring him not to thee: deliver him into my hand, and I
will bring him to thee again.
Then
Reuben said to his father, “You may kill my two sons if I fail to bring him back to you. Put him in my care, and I
will return him.”
And he said, My son shall not go down with you; for his brother is dead, and he is left alone: if mischief
befall him by the way in the which ye go, then shall ye bring down my gray hairs with sorrow to the grave.
But Jacob replied, “My son
will not go down there with you, for his brother is dead, and he alone is left. If any
harm comes to him on your journey, you
will bring my gray hair down to
Sheol in sorrow.”
And Judah spake unto him, saying, The man did solemnly
protest unto us, saying, Ye shall not see my face, except your brother be with you.
But Judah replied, “The man solemnly
warned us, ‘You
will not see my face again unless your brother is with you.’
If thou
wilt send our brother with us, we
will go down and
buy thee food:
If you
will send our brother with us, we
will go down and
buy food for you.
But if thou
wilt not send him, we
will not go down: for the man said unto us, Ye shall not see my face, except your brother be with you.
But if you will not send him, we will not go; for the man told us, ‘You will not see my face again unless your brother is with you.’”
And Judah said unto Israel his father, Send the
lad with me, and we
will arise and go; that we may live, and not die, both we, and thou, and also our little ones.
And Judah said to his father Israel, “Send the boy with me, and we will go at once, so that we may live and not die—neither we, nor you, nor our children.
I
will be
surety for him; of my hand shalt thou require him: if I bring him not unto thee, and set him before thee, then let me bear the
blame for ever:
I
will guarantee his safety. You may hold me personally responsible. If I do not bring him back and set him before you, then may I bear the guilt before you all my life.
With
whomsoever of thy servants it be found, both let him die, and we also
will be my lord’s
bondmen.
If any of your servants is found to have it, he must die, and the rest will become slaves of my lord.”
And he said, Now also let it be according unto your words; he with whom it is found shall be my servant; and ye shall be
blameless.
“As you say,” replied the
steward. “But only the one who is found with the cup
will be my slave, and the rest of you shall be free of
blame.”
And he said, God
forbid that I should do so: but the man in whose hand the cup is found, he shall be my servant; and as for you, get you up in peace unto your father.
But Joseph replied, “Far be it from me to do this. The man who was found with the cup will be my slave. The rest of you may return to your father in peace.”
And thou saidst unto thy servants, Except your youngest brother come down with you, ye shall see my face no more.
But you said to your servants, ‘Unless your younger brother comes down with you, you will not see my face again.’
And we said, We cannot go down: if our youngest brother be with us, then will we go down: for we may not see the man’s face, except our youngest brother be with us.
But we answered, ‘We cannot go down there unless our younger brother goes with us. So if our younger brother is not with us, we cannot see the man.’
And if ye take this also from me, and mischief
befall him, ye shall bring down my gray hairs with sorrow to the grave.
Now if you also take this one from me and
harm comes to him, you
will bring my gray hair down to
Sheol in sorrow.’
It shall come to pass, when he
seeth that the
lad is not with us, that he
will die: and thy servants shall bring down the gray hairs of thy servant our father with sorrow to the grave.
sees that the boy is not with us, he
will die. Then your servants
will have brought the gray hair of your servant our father down to
Sheol in sorrow.
For thy servant became
surety for the
lad unto my father, saying, If I bring him not unto thee, then I shall bear the
blame to my father for ever.
Indeed, your servant
guaranteed the boy’s safety to my father, saying, ‘If I do not return him to you, I
will bear the guilt before you, my father, all my life.’
For these two years hath the famine been in the land: and yet there are five years, in the which there shall neither be earing nor harvest.
For the famine has covered the land these two years, and there
will be five more years without
plowing or harvesting.
And there
will I
nourish thee; for yet there are five years of famine; lest thou, and thy household, and all that thou hast, come to poverty.
And there I
will provide for you, because there
will be five more years of famine. Otherwise, you and your household and everything you own
will come to
destitution.’
And take your father and your households, and come unto me: and I will give you the good of the land of Egypt, and ye shall eat the fat of the land.
Then bring your father and your families and return to me. I will give you the best of the land of Egypt, and you shall eat from the fat of the land.’
And Israel said, It is enough; Joseph my son is yet alive: I will go and see him before I die.
“Enough!” declared Israel. “My son Joseph is still alive! I will go to see him before I die.”
And he said, I am God, the God of thy father: fear not to go down into Egypt; for I will there make of thee a great nation:
“I am God,” He said, “the God of your father. Do not be afraid to go down to Egypt, for I will make you into a great nation there.
I will go down with thee into Egypt; and I will also surely bring thee up again: and Joseph shall put his hand upon thine eyes.
I will go down with you to Egypt, and I will surely bring you back. And Joseph’s own hands will close your eyes.”
And Joseph said unto his brethren, and unto his father’s house, I
will go up, and
shew Pharaoh, and say unto him, My brethren, and my father’s house, which were in the land of
Canaan, are come unto me;
Joseph said to his brothers and to his father’s household, “I
will go up and inform Pharaoh: ‘My brothers and my father’s household from the land of
Canaan have come to me.
That ye shall say, Thy servants’ trade hath been about cattle from our youth even until now, both we, and also our fathers: that ye may dwell in the land of
Goshen; for every
shepherd is an
abomination unto the Egyptians.
you are to say, ‘Your servants have raised
livestock ever since our youth—both we and our fathers.’ Then you
will be allowed to settle in the land of
Goshen, since all
shepherds are
detestable to the Egyptians.”
And Joseph said, Give your cattle; and I will give you for your cattle, if money fail.
“Then bring me your
livestock,” said Joseph. “Since the money is gone, I
will sell you food in exchange for your
livestock.”
When that year was ended, they came unto him the second year, and said unto him, We will not hide it from my lord, how that our money is spent; my lord also hath our herds of cattle; there is not ought left in the sight of my lord, but our bodies, and our lands:
When that year was over, they came to him the second year and said, “We cannot hide from our lord that our money is gone and all our
livestock belongs to you. There is nothing left for our lord except our bodies and our land.
Wherefore shall we die before thine eyes, both we and our land?
buy us and our land for bread, and we and our land
will be servants unto Pharaoh: and give us seed, that we may live, and not die, that the land be not
desolate.
Why should we perish before your eyes—we and our land as well? Purchase us and our land in exchange for food. Then we, along with our land,
will be slaves to Pharaoh. Give us seed that we may live and not die, and that the land may not become
desolate.”
And it shall come to pass in the increase, that ye shall give the fifth part unto Pharaoh, and four parts shall be your own, for seed of the field, and for your food, and for them of your households, and for food for your little ones.
At harvest time, you are to give a fifth of it to Pharaoh, and four-fifths
will be yours as seed for the field and food for
yourselves and your households and children.”
And they said, Thou hast saved our lives: let us find grace in the sight of my lord, and we will be Pharaoh’s servants.
“You have saved our lives,” they said. “We have found favor in our lord’s eyes, and we will be Pharaoh’s servants.”
But I
will lie with my fathers, and thou shalt carry me out of Egypt, and
bury me in their buryingplace. And he said, I
will do as thou hast said.
but when I lie down with my fathers, carry me out of Egypt and
bury me with them.” Joseph answered, “I
will do as you have requested.”
And said unto me, Behold, I
will make thee fruitful, and multiply thee, and I
will make of thee a multitude of people; and
will give this land to thy seed after thee for an
everlasting possession.
and told me, ‘Behold, I
will make you fruitful and multiply you; I
will make you a multitude of peoples, and
will give this land to your descendants after you as an
everlasting possession.’
And Joseph said unto his father, They are my sons, whom God hath given me in this place. And he said, Bring them, I pray thee, unto me, and I
will bless them.
Joseph said to his father, “They are the sons God has given me in this place.” So Jacob said, “Please bring them to me, that I may
bless them.”
And Israel said unto Joseph, Behold, I die: but God shall be with you, and bring you again unto the land of your fathers.
Then Israel said to Joseph, “Look, I am about to die, but God will be with you and bring you back to the land of your fathers.
And Jacob called unto his sons, and said, Gather
yourselves together, that I may tell you that which shall
befall you in the last days.
Then Jacob called for his sons and said, “Gather around so that I can tell you what will happen to you in the days to come:
Unstable as water, thou shalt not
excel; because thou wentest up to thy father’s bed; then defiledst thou it: he went up to my
couch.
Cursed be their anger, for it was fierce; and their wrath, for it was cruel: I
will divide them in Jacob, and
scatter them in Israel.
Cursed be their anger, for it is strong, and their wrath, for it is cruel! I
will disperse them in Jacob and
scatter them in Israel.
The
sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a
lawgiver from between his feet, until
Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be.
The
scepter will not depart from Judah, nor the staff from between his feet, until
Shiloh comes and the allegiance of the nations is his.
Dan shall be a serpent by the way, an adder in the path, that biteth the horse heels, so that his rider shall fall backward.
He
will be a
snake by the road, a
viper in the path that bites the horse’s heels so that its rider tumbles backward.
Gad, a
troop shall overcome him: but he shall overcome at the last.
Gad will be attacked by raiders, but he
will attack their heels.
Out of Asher his bread shall be fat, and he shall yield royal
dainties.
Asher’s food
will be rich; he shall provide royal
delicacies.
My father made me
swear, saying, Lo, I die: in my grave which I have
digged for me in the land of
Canaan, there shalt thou
bury me. Now therefore let me go up, I pray thee, and
bury my father, and I
will come again.
my father made me
swear an oath when he said, ‘I am about to die. You must
bury me in the tomb that I
dug for myself in the land of
Canaan.’ Now let me go and
bury my father, and then return.”
And when Joseph’s brethren saw that their father was dead, they said, Joseph
will peradventure hate us, and
will certainly requite us all the evil which we did unto him.
When Joseph’s brothers saw that their father was dead, they said, “What if Joseph bears a
grudge? Then he
will surely repay us for all the evil that we did to him.”
Now therefore fear ye not: I
will nourish you, and your little ones. And he comforted them, and spake kindly unto them.
Therefore do not be afraid. I
will provide for you and your little ones.” So Joseph
reassured his brothers and spoke kindly to them.
And Joseph said unto his brethren, I die: and God
will surely visit you, and bring you out of this land unto the land which he
sware to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.
Then Joseph said to his brothers, “I am about to die, but God will surely visit you and bring you up from this land to the land He promised on oath to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.”
And Joseph took an oath of the children of Israel, saying, God will surely visit you, and ye shall carry up my bones from hence.
And Joseph made the sons of Israel take an oath and said, “God will surely attend to you, and then you must carry my bones up from this place.”
Come on, let us deal wisely with them; lest they multiply, and it come to pass, that, when there falleth out any war, they join also unto our enemies, and fight against us, and so get them up out of the land.
Come, let us deal
shrewdly with them, or they
will increase even more; and if a war breaks out, they may join our enemies, fight against us, and leave the country.”
And Pharaoh’s daughter said unto her, Take this child away, and
nurse it for me, and I
will give thee thy wages. And the woman took the child, and
nursed it.
Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, “Take this child and
nurse him for me, and I
will pay your wages.” So the woman took the boy and
nursed him.
And Moses said, I
will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the
bush is not burnt.
So Moses thought, “I must go over and see this
marvelous sight. Why is the
bush not burning up?”
Come now therefore, and I will send thee unto Pharaoh, that thou mayest bring forth my people the children of Israel out of Egypt.
Therefore, go! I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring My people the Israelites out of Egypt.”
And he said, Certainly I
will be with thee; and this shall be a
token unto thee, that I have sent thee: When thou hast brought forth the people out of Egypt, ye shall serve God upon this mountain.
“I will surely be with you,” God said, “and this will be the sign to you that I have sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, all of you will worship God on this mountain.”
And they shall
hearken to thy voice: and thou shalt come, thou and the elders of Israel, unto the king of Egypt, and ye shall say unto him, The LORD God of the Hebrews hath met with us: and now let us go, we
beseech thee, three days’ journey into the wilderness, that we may sacrifice to the LORD our God.
The elders of Israel
will listen to what you say, and you must go with them to the king of Egypt and tell him, ‘The LORD, the God of the Hebrews, has met with us. Now please let us take a three-day journey into the wilderness, so that we may sacrifice to the LORD our God.’
And I am sure that the king of Egypt will not let you go, no, not by a mighty hand.
But I know that the king of Egypt will not allow you to go unless a mighty hand compels him.
And I
will stretch out my hand, and
smite Egypt with all my wonders which I
will do in the midst thereof: and after that he
will let you go.
So I will stretch out My hand and strike the Egyptians with all the wonders I will perform among them. And after that, he will release you.
And I will give this people favour in the sight of the Egyptians: and it shall come to pass, that, when ye go, ye shall not go empty:
And I will grant this people such favor in the sight of the Egyptians that when you leave, you will not go away empty-handed.
But every woman shall
borrow of her neighbour, and of her that sojourneth in her house, jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and
raiment: and ye shall put them upon your sons, and upon your daughters; and ye shall
spoil the Egyptians.
Every woman shall ask her
neighbor and any woman staying in her house for silver and gold
jewelry and clothing, and you
will put them on your sons and daughters. So you
will plunder the Egyptians.”
And Moses answered and said, But, behold, they
will not believe me, nor
hearken unto my voice: for they
will say, The LORD hath not appeared unto thee.
Then Moses answered, “What if they do not believe me or
listen to my voice? For they may say, ‘The LORD has not appeared to you.’”
And it shall come to pass, if they
will not believe thee, neither
hearken to the voice of the first sign, that they
will believe the voice of the latter sign.
And the LORD said, “If they refuse to believe you or
heed the witness of the first sign, they may believe that of the second.
And it shall come to pass, if they
will not believe also these two signs, neither
hearken unto thy voice, that thou shalt take of the water of the river, and pour it upon the dry land: and the water which thou takest out of the river shall become blood upon the dry land.
But if they do not believe even these two signs or
listen to your voice, take some water from the Nile and pour it on the dry ground. Then the water you take from the Nile
will become blood on the ground.”
Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say.
Now go! I will help you as you speak, and I will teach you what to say.”
And the anger of the LORD was
kindled against Moses, and he said, Is not Aaron the
Levite thy brother? I know that he can speak well. And also, behold, he cometh forth to meet thee: and when he
seeth thee, he
will be
glad in his heart.
Then the anger of the LORD burned against Moses, and He said, “Is not Aaron the
Levite your brother? I know that he can speak well, and he is now on his way to meet you. When he sees you, he
will be
glad in his heart.
And thou shalt speak unto him, and put words in his mouth: and I will be with thy mouth, and with his mouth, and will teach you what ye shall do.
You are to speak to him and put the words in his mouth. I will help both of you to speak, and I will teach you what to do.
And he shall be thy
spokesman unto the people: and he shall be, even he shall be to thee instead of a mouth, and thou shalt be to him instead of God.
He
will speak to the people for you. He
will be your
spokesman, and it
will be as if you were God to him.
And the LORD said unto Moses, When thou goest to return into Egypt, see that thou do all those wonders before Pharaoh, which I have put in thine hand: but I
will harden his heart, that he shall not let the people go.
The LORD
instructed Moses, “When you go back to Egypt, see that you perform before Pharaoh all the wonders that I have put within your power. But I
will harden his heart so that he
will not let the people go.
And I say unto thee, Let my son go, that he may serve me: and if thou refuse to let him go, behold, I
will slay thy son, even thy
firstborn.
and I told you to let My son go so that he may worship Me. But since you have refused to let him go, behold, I
will kill your
firstborn son!’”
And Pharaoh said, Who is the LORD, that I should obey his voice to let Israel go? I know not the LORD, neither will I let Israel go.
But Pharaoh replied, “Who is the LORD that I should obey His voice and let Israel go? I do not know the LORD, and I will not let Israel go.”
Let there more work be laid upon the men, that they may labour therein; and let them not regard vain words.
Make the work harder on the men so they will be occupied and pay no attention to these lies.”
And the taskmasters of the people went out, and their officers, and they spake to the people, saying, Thus saith Pharaoh, I will not give you straw.
So the taskmasters and
foremen of the people went out and said to them, “This is what Pharaoh says: ‘I am no longer giving you straw.
Go ye, get you straw where ye can find it: yet not ought of your work shall be diminished.
Go and get your own straw wherever you can find it; but your workload will in no way be reduced.’”
Go therefore now, and work; for there shall no straw be given you, yet shall ye deliver the tale of bricks.
Now get to work. You
will be given no straw, yet you must deliver the full
quota of bricks.”
Then the LORD said unto Moses, Now shalt thou see what I will do to Pharaoh: for with a strong hand shall he let them go, and with a strong hand shall he drive them out of his land.
But the LORD said to Moses, “Now you will see what I will do to Pharaoh, for because of My mighty hand he will let the people go; because of My strong hand he will drive them out of his land.”
Wherefore say unto the children of Israel, I am the LORD, and I
will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I
will rid you out of their
bondage, and I
will redeem you with a stretched out arm, and with great judgments:
Therefore tell the Israelites: ‘I am the LORD, and I
will bring you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians and deliver you from their
bondage. I
will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with mighty acts of judgment.
And I will take you to me for a people, and I will be to you a God: and ye shall know that I am the LORD your God, which bringeth you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians.
I will take you as My own people, and I will be your God. Then you will know that I am the LORD your God, who brought you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians.
And I
will bring you in unto the land, concerning the which I did
swear to give it to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob; and I
will give it you for an
heritage: I am the LORD.
And I
will bring you into the land that I
swore to give to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. I
will give it to you as a possession. I am the LORD!’”
And Moses spake before the LORD, saying, Behold, the children of Israel have not
hearkened unto me; how then shall Pharaoh hear me, who am of
uncircumcised lips?
But in the LORD’s presence Moses replied, “If the Israelites
will not
listen to me, then why would Pharaoh
listen to me, since I am unskilled in speech?”
And the LORD said unto Moses, See, I have made thee a god to Pharaoh: and Aaron thy brother shall be thy prophet.
The LORD answered Moses, “See, I have made you like God to Pharaoh, and your brother Aaron will be your prophet.
And I
will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and multiply my signs and my wonders in the land of Egypt.
But I
will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and though I
will multiply My signs and wonders in the land of Egypt,
But Pharaoh shall not
hearken unto you, that I may lay my hand upon Egypt, and bring forth mine armies, and my people the children of Israel, out of the land of Egypt by great judgments.
Pharaoh
will not
listen to you. Then I
will lay My hand on Egypt, and by mighty acts of judgment I
will bring the divisions of My people the Israelites out of the land of Egypt.
And the Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD, when I stretch forth mine hand upon Egypt, and bring out the children of Israel from among them.
And the Egyptians will know that I am the LORD, when I stretch out My hand against Egypt and bring the Israelites out from among them.”
When Pharaoh shall speak unto you, saying,
Shew a
miracle for you: then thou shalt say unto Aaron, Take thy rod, and cast it before Pharaoh, and it shall become a serpent.
“When Pharaoh tells you, ‘Perform a
miracle,’ you are to say to Aaron, ‘Take your staff and throw it down before Pharaoh,’ and it
will become a serpent.”
Thus saith the LORD, In this thou shalt know that I am the LORD: behold, I
will smite with the rod that is in mine hand upon the waters which are in the river, and they shall be turned to blood.
This is what the LORD says: By this you will know that I am the LORD. Behold, with the staff in my hand I will strike the water of the Nile, and it will turn to blood.
And the fish that is in the river shall die, and the river shall
stink; and the Egyptians shall
lothe to drink of the water of the river.
The fish in the Nile
will die, the river
will stink, and the Egyptians
will be unable to drink its water.’”
And the LORD spake unto Moses, Say unto Aaron, Take thy rod, and stretch out thine hand upon the waters of Egypt, upon their streams, upon their rivers, and upon their ponds, and upon all their pools of water, that they may become blood; and that there may be blood throughout all the land of Egypt, both in vessels of wood, and in vessels of stone.
And the LORD said to Moses, “Tell Aaron, ‘Take your staff and stretch out your hand over the waters of Egypt—over their rivers and canals and ponds and reservoirs—that they may become blood.’ There will be blood throughout the land of Egypt, even in the vessels of wood and stone.”
And if thou refuse to let them go, behold, I
will smite all thy borders with frogs:
But if you refuse to let them go, I will plague your whole country with frogs.
And the river shall bring forth frogs abundantly, which shall go up and come into thine house, and into thy
bedchamber, and upon thy bed, and into the house of thy servants, and upon thy people, and into thine ovens, and into thy kneadingtroughs:
The Nile
will teem with frogs, and they
will come into your palace and up to your
bedroom and
onto your bed, into the houses of your officials and your people, and into your ovens and
kneading bowls.
And the frogs shall come up both on thee, and upon thy people, and upon all thy servants.
The frogs will come up on you and your people and all your officials.’”
Then Pharaoh called for Moses and Aaron, and said, Intreat the LORD, that he may take away the frogs from me, and from my people; and I will let the people go, that they may do sacrifice unto the LORD.
Pharaoh summoned Moses and Aaron and said, “Pray to the LORD to take the frogs away from me and my people. Then I will let your people go, that they may sacrifice to the LORD.”
And the frogs shall depart from thee, and from thy houses, and from thy servants, and from thy people; they shall remain in the river only.
The frogs will depart from you and your houses and your officials and your people; they will remain only in the Nile.”
Else, if thou
wilt not let my people go, behold, I
will send swarms of
flies upon thee, and upon thy servants, and upon thy people, and into thy houses: and the houses of the Egyptians shall be full of swarms of
flies, and also the ground
whereon they are.
But if you
will not let My people go, I
will send swarms of
flies upon you and your officials and your people and your houses. The houses of the Egyptians and even the ground where they stand
will be full of
flies.
And I
will sever in that day the land of
Goshen, in which my people dwell, that no swarms of
flies shall be there; to the end thou mayest know that I am the LORD in the midst of the earth.
But on that day I
will give special treatment to the land of
Goshen, where My people live; no swarms of
flies will be found there. In this way you
will know that I, the LORD, am in the land.
