Berean Standard Bible BSB Bible
For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.
Although by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to reteach you the
basic principles of God’s word. You need milk, not solid food!
Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying
again the foundation of
repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,
Therefore let us leave the elementary teachings about Christ and go on to
maturity, not laying
again the foundation of
repentance from dead works, and of faith in God,
If they shall fall away, to renew them
again unto
repentance; seeing they
crucify to themselves the Son of God
afresh, and put him to an open shame.
and then have fallen away—to be restored to
repentance, because they themselves are
crucifying the Son of God all over
again and subjecting Him to open shame.
Nor yet that he should offer himself often, as the high priest entereth into the holy place every year with blood of others;
Nor did He enter heaven to offer Himself again and again, as the high priest enters the Most Holy Place every year with blood that is not his own.
But in those sacrifices there is a
remembrance again made of sins every year.
Instead, those sacrifices are an annual reminder of sins,
And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering
oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins:
Day after day every priest stands to minister and to offer again and again the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins.
For we know him that hath said,
Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will
recompense, saith the Lord. And
again, The Lord shall judge his people.
For we know Him who said, “
Vengeance is Mine; I will repay,” and
again, “The Lord will judge His people.”
Women received their dead raised to life
again: and others were
tortured, not accepting
deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection:
Women received back their dead, raised to life
again. Others were
tortured and refused their release, so that they might gain a better resurrection.
Consider Him who
endured such hostility from sinners, so that you will not grow
weary and lose heart.
Ye have not yet resisted unto blood,
striving against sin.
In your struggle
against sin, you have not yet resisted to the point of
shedding your blood.
Now the God of peace, that brought
again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great
shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the
everlasting covenant,
Now may the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great
Shepherd of the sheep,
For he shall have judgment without mercy, that hath shewed no mercy; and mercy rejoiceth against judgment.
For judgment without mercy will be shown to
anyone who has not been
merciful. Mercy triumphs over judgment.
But if ye have bitter
envying and
strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not
against the truth.
But if you
harbor bitter jealousy and
selfish ambition in your hearts, do not
boast in it or deny the truth.
Speak not evil one of another, brethren. He that speaketh evil of his brother, and judgeth his brother, speaketh evil of the law, and judgeth the law: but if thou judge the law, thou art not a
doer of the law, but a judge.
Brothers, do not
slander one another.
Anyone who speaks
against his brother or judges him speaks
against the law and judges it. And if you judge the law, you are not a
practitioner of the law, but a judge of it.
Your gold and silver is
cankered; and the
rust of them shall be a witness
against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have
heaped treasure together for the last days.
Behold, the
hire of the labourers who have
reaped down your fields, which is of you kept back by
fraud, crieth: and the
cries of them which have
reaped are entered into the ears of the Lord of
sabaoth.
Look, the wages you
withheld from the workmen who
mowed your fields are crying out
against you. The
cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord of Hosts.
Grudge not one
against another, brethren, lest ye be condemned: behold, the judge standeth before the door.
Do not
complain about one another, brothers, so that you will not be judged. Look, the Judge is standing at the door!
And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.
Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth yielded its crops.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath
begotten us
again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! By His great mercy He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
For you have been born
again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and
enduring word of God.
Dearly beloved, I
beseech you as strangers and pilgrims,
abstain from fleshly lusts, which war
against the soul;
Beloved, I
urge you, as foreigners and exiles, to
abstain from the desires of the flesh, which war
against your soul.
Having your conversation
honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak
against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold,
glorify God in the day of
visitation.
Conduct
yourselves with such honor among the Gentiles that, though they
slander you as evildoers, they may see your good deeds and
glorify God on the day He visits us.
Who, when he was
reviled,
reviled not
again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:
When they
heaped abuse on Him, He did not
retaliate; when He suffered, He made no threats, but entrusted Himself to Him who judges justly.
For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.
For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears are inclined to their prayer. But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”
In their
greed, these false teachers will
exploit you with
deceptive words. The longstanding
verdict against them remains in force, and their destruction does not sleep.
Whereas angels, which are greater in power and might, bring not railing
accusation against them before the Lord.
Yet not even angels, though greater in strength and power,
dare to bring such
slanderous charges
against them before the Lord.
For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are
again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.
If indeed they have escaped the corruption of the world through the knowledge of our Lord and
Savior Jesus Christ, only to be
entangled and overcome by it
again, their final condition is worse than it was at first.
But it is happened unto them according to the true
proverb, The dog is turned to his own
vomit again; and the
sow that was washed to her
wallowing in the
mire.
Of them the
proverbs are true: “A dog returns to its
vomit,” and, “A
sow that is washed goes back to her
wallowing in the mud.”
But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire
against the day of judgment and
perdition of ungodly men.
And by that same word, the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.
Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth.
Then
again, I am also writing to you a new commandment, which is true in Him and also in you. For the darkness is
fading and the true light is already
shining.
Wherefore, if I come, I will remember his deeds which he doeth,
prating against us with
malicious words: and not content
therewith, neither
doth he himself receive the brethren, and forbiddeth them that would, and casteth them out of the church.
So if I come, I will call attention to his
malicious slander against us. And unsatisfied with that, he refuses to
welcome the brothers and forbids those who want to do so, even putting them out of the church.
But even the
archangel Michael, when he disputed with the devil over the body of Moses, did not
presume to bring a
slanderous charge
against him, but said, “The Lord
rebuke you!”
To
execute judgment upon all, and to
convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken
against him.
to
execute judgment on
everyone, and to
convict all the ungodly of every ungodly act of wickedness and every harsh word spoken
against Him by ungodly sinners.”
Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.
But I have this against you: You have abandoned your first love.
But I have a few things
against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of
Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit
fornication.
But I have a few things
against you, because some of you hold to the teaching of
Balaam, who taught Balak to place a
stumbling block before the Israelites so they would eat food sacrificed to idols and commit sexual immorality.
Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight
against them with the sword of my mouth.
Therefore
repent! Otherwise I will come to you shortly and
wage war
against them with the sword of My mouth.
Notwithstanding I have a few things
against thee, because thou sufferest that woman
Jezebel, which calleth herself a
prophetess, to teach and to
seduce my servants to commit
fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.
But I have this
against you: You
tolerate that woman
Jezebel, who calls herself a
prophetess. By her teaching she misleads My servants to be sexually immoral and to eat food sacrificed to idols.
Him that overcometh will I make a
pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.
The one who overcomes I will make a
pillar in the temple of My God, and he will never
again leave it. Upon him I will write the name of My God, and the name of the city of My God (the new Jerusalem that comes down out of heaven from My God), and My new name.
They shall hunger no more, neither
thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat.
‘Never
again will they hunger, and never will they
thirst; nor will the sun beat down upon them, nor any
scorching heat.’
And the voice which I heard from heaven spake unto me again, and said, Go and take the little book which is open in the hand of the angel which standeth upon the sea and upon the earth.
Then the voice that I had heard from heaven spoke to me
again, saying, “Go, take the small
scroll that lies open in the hand of the angel standing on the sea and on the land.”
And he said unto me, Thou must
prophesy again before many peoples, and nations, and tongues, and kings.
And they told me, “You must
prophesy again about many peoples and nations and tongues and kings.”
And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them.
When the two witnesses have finished their testimony, the beast that comes up from the
Abyss will
wage war with them, and will overpower and kill them.
And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought
against the
dragon; and the
dragon fought and his angels,
Then a war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought
against the
dragon, and the
dragon and his angels fought back.
And they worshipped the
dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?
They worshiped the
dragon who had given authority to the beast, and they worshiped the beast, saying, “Who is like the beast, and who can
wage war
against it?”
And he opened his mouth in
blasphemy against God, to
blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven.
And the beast opened its mouth to speak blasphemies
against God and to
slander His name and His tabernacle—those who dwell in heaven.
And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.
Then the beast was permitted to
wage war
against the saints and to
conquer them, and it was given authority over every tribe and people and tongue and nation.
These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.
They will make war against the Lamb, and the Lamb will triumph over them, because He is Lord of lords and King of kings; and He will be accompanied by His called and chosen and faithful ones.”
And the fruits that thy soul
lusted after are departed from thee, and all things which were
dainty and goodly are departed from thee, and thou shalt find them no more at all.
And they will say: “The fruit of your soul’s desire has departed from you; all your
luxury and
splendor have
vanished, never to be seen
again.”
Rejoice over her, thou heaven, and ye holy apostles and prophets; for God hath
avenged you on her.
Rejoice over her, O heaven, O saints and apostles and prophets, because God has pronounced for you His judgment
against her.
And a mighty angel took up a stone like a great
millstone, and cast it into the sea, saying, Thus with violence shall that great city Babylon be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all.
Then a mighty angel
picked up a stone the size of a great
millstone and cast it into the sea, saying: “With such violence the great city of Babylon will be cast down, never to be seen
again.
And the voice of harpers, and musicians, and of pipers, and trumpeters, shall be heard no more at all in thee; and no
craftsman, of
whatsoever craft he be, shall be found any more in thee; and the sound of a
millstone shall be heard no more at all in thee;
And the sound of harpists and musicians, of
flute players and trumpeters, will never ring out in you
again. Nor will any
craftsmen of any trade be found in you
again, nor the sound of a
millstone be heard in you
again.
And the light of a
candle shall
shine no more at all in thee; and the voice of the
bridegroom and of the
bride shall be heard no more at all in thee: for thy merchants were the great men of the earth; for by thy
sorceries were all nations
deceived.
The light of a lamp will never
shine in you
again, and the voices of a
bride and
bridegroom will never call out in you
again. For your merchants were the great ones of the earth, because all the nations were
deceived by your
sorcery.”
And
again they said,
Alleluia. And her smoke rose up for ever and ever.
And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army.
Then I saw the beast and the kings of the earth with their armies assembled to
wage war
against the One seated on the horse, and
against His army.
But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.
The rest of the dead did not come back to life until the thousand years were complete. This is the first resurrection.
As for the things that came to pass in his time, they were written in former times, concerning those that
sinned, and did wickedly
against the Lord above all people and kingdoms, and how they
grieved him exceedingly, so that the words of the Lord rose up
against Israel.
Now after all these acts of Josias it came to pass, that Pharaoh the king of Egypt came to raise war at Carchamis upon Euphrates: and Josias went out against him.
I am not sent out from the Lord God
against thee; for my war is upon Euphrates: and now the Lord is with me,
yea, the Lord is with me hasting me forward: depart from me, and be not
against the Lord.
But joined battle with him in the plain of Magiddo, and the princes came against king Josias.
Wherefore against him Nabuchodonosor the king of Babylon came up, and bound him with a chain of brass, and carried him into Babylon.
The governors also of the people and of the priests did many things
against the laws, and passed all the pollutions of all nations, and
defiled the temple of the Lord, which was
sanctified in Jerusalem.
So far forth, that he, being
wroth with his people for their great
ungodliness, commanded the kings of the Chaldees to come up
against them;
But in the time of Artexerxes king of the Persians Belemus, and Mithridates, and Tabellius, and Rathumus, and Beeltethmus, and Semellius the secretary, with others that were in commission with them, dwelling in Samaria and other places, wrote unto him
against them that dwelt in
Judea and Jerusalem these letters following;
Now if this city and the walls thereof be made up
again, they will not only refuse to give tribute, but also
rebel against kings.
Wherefore now we do declare unto thee, O lord the king, that if this city be built
again, and the walls thereof set up
anew, thou shalt from henceforth have no passage into Celosyria and Phenice.
Then the king wrote back
again to Rathumus the storywriter, to Beeltethmus, to Semellius the
scribe, and to the rest that were in commission, and dwellers in Samaria and Syria and Phenice, after this manner;
I have read the epistle which ye have sent unto me: therefore I commanded to make
diligent search, and it hath been found that that city was from the beginning practising
against kings;
If he
bid them make war the one
against the other, they do it: if he send them out
against the enemies, they go, and break down mountains walls and towers.
Likewise for those that are no soldiers, and have not to do with wars, but use husbundry, when they have
reaped again that which they had sown, they bring it to the king, and
compel one another to pay tribute unto the king.
And yet for all this the king
gaped and
gazed upon her with open mouth: if she
laughed upon him, he
laughed also: but if she took any displeasure at him, the king was
fain to
flatter, that she might be
reconciled to him
again.
O ye men, are not women strong? great is the earth, high is the heaven, swift is the sun in his course, for he compasseth the heavens round about, and fetcheth his course again to his own place in one day.
And to send away all the vessels that were taken away out of Jerusalem, which Cyrus set apart, when he
vowed to destroy Babylon, and to send them
again thither.
And certain of the chief of their families, when they came to the temple of God that is in Jerusalem,
vowed to set up the house
again in his own place according to their ability,
But when our fathers
provoked God unto wrath, and
sinned against the Lord of Israel which is in heaven, he gave them over into the power of Nabuchodonosor king of Babylon, of the Chaldees;
And the holy vessels of gold and of silver, that Nabuchodonosor had carried away out of the house at Jerusalem, and had set them in his own temple those Cyrus the king brought forth again out of the temple at Babylon, and they were delivered to Zorobabel and to Sanabassarus the ruler,
In the first year of the reign of Cyrus king Cyrus commanded that the house of the Lord at Jerusalem should be built again, where they do sacrifice with continual fire:
I have commanded also to have it built up whole
again; and that they look
diligently to help those that be of the captivity of the Jews, till the house of the Lord be finished:
And
again we
besought our Lord as touching these things, and found him favourable unto us.
And
didst give unto us such a root: but we have turned back
again to
transgress thy law, and to
mingle ourselves with the uncleanness of the nations of the land.
Then Jechonias the son of Jeelus, one of the sons of Israel, called out, and said, O
Esdras, we have
sinned against the Lord God, we have married strange women of the nations of the land, and now is all Israel
aloft.
Go thy way, and
shew my people their sinful deeds, and their children their wickedness which they have done
against me; that they may tell their children’s children:
And those that be dead will I raise up again from their places, and bring them out of the graves: for I have known my name in Israel.
The heathen shall
envy thee, but they shall be able to do nothing
against thee, saith the Lord.
And again in process of time thou broughtest the flood upon those that dwelt in the world, and destroyedst them.
And it happened, that when they that dwelt upon the earth began to multiply, and had
gotten them many children, and were a great people, they began
again to be more ungodly than the first.
And I said, Tell on, my lord. Then said he unto me, Go thy way,
weigh me the weight of the fire, or measure me the blast of the wind, or call me
again the day that is past.
And said, Come, let us go and make war against the sea that it may depart away before us, and that we may make us more woods.
But if the most High grant thee to live, thou shalt see after the third
trumpet that the sun shall suddenly
shine again in the night, and the moon
thrice in the day:
There shall be a confusion also in many places, and the fire shall be
oft sent out
again, and the wild beasts shall change their places, and
menstruous women shall bring forth monsters:
To
shew thee such
tokens I have leave; and if thou
wilt pray
again, and
weep as now, and fast even days, thou shalt hear yet greater things.
And after seven days so it was, that the thoughts of my heart were very
grievous unto me
again,
And my soul recovered the spirit of understanding, and I began to talk with the most High again,
And he said unto me, Number me the things that are not yet come, gather me together the
dross that are scattered abroad, make me the flowers green
again that are
withered,
At that time shall friends fight one against another like enemies, and the earth shall stand in fear with those that dwell therein, the springs of the fountains shall stand still, and in three hours they shall not run.
If thou
wilt pray yet more, and fast seven days
again, I shall tell thee greater things by day than I have heard.
And it came to pass after this, that I
wept again, and fasted seven days in like manner, that I might fulfil the three weeks which he told me.
And in the eighth night was my heart
vexed within me
again, and I began to speak before the most High.
Nevertheless they were not
obedient unto him; but spake
against him, and imagined vain things;
And now when I prepared the world, which was not yet made, even for them to dwell in that now live, no man spake against me.
