Berean Standard Bible BSB Bible
Whose leaves were fair, and the fruit thereof much, and in it was meat for
all; under which the beasts of the field dwelt, and upon whose branches the fowls of the heaven had their
habitation:
whose foliage was beautiful and whose fruit was abundant, providing food for all, under which the beasts of the field lived, and in whose branches the birds of the air nested—
And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou?
All the peoples of the earth are counted as nothing, and He does as He pleases with the army of heaven and the peoples of the earth. There is no one who can restrain His hand or say to Him, ‘What have You done?’”
Now I
Nebuchadnezzar praise and
extol and honour the King of heaven,
all whose works are truth, and his ways judgment: and those that walk in pride he is able to
abase.
Now I,
Nebuchadnezzar, praise and
exalt and
glorify the King of heaven, for
all His works are true and
all His ways are just. And He is able to humble those who walk in pride.
Then came in all the king’s wise men: but they could not read the writing, nor make known to the king the interpretation thereof.
So
all the king’s wise men came in, but they could not read the inscription or
interpret it for him.
And for the majesty that he gave him,
all people, nations, and languages,
trembled and feared before him: whom he would he
slew; and whom he would he kept alive; and whom he would he set up; and whom he would he put down.
Because of the greatness that He bestowed on him, the people of every nation and language
trembled in fear before him. He killed whom he wished and kept alive whom he wished; he
exalted whom he wished and humbled whom he wished.
And thou his son, O
Belshazzar, hast not humbled thine heart, though thou knewest
all this;
But you his son, O
Belshazzar, have not humbled your heart, even though you knew
all this.
But hast lifted up
thyself against the Lord of heaven; and they have brought the vessels of his house before thee, and thou, and thy lords, thy wives, and thy concubines, have
drunk wine in them; and thou hast praised the gods of silver, and gold, of brass, iron, wood, and stone, which see not, nor hear, nor know: and the God in whose hand thy breath is, and whose are
all thy ways, hast thou not
glorified:
Instead, you have
exalted yourself against the Lord of heaven. The vessels from His house were brought to you, and as you
drank wine from them with your nobles, wives, and concubines, you praised your gods of silver and gold, bronze and iron, wood and stone, which cannot see or hear or understand. But you have failed to
glorify the God who holds in His hand your very breath and
all your ways.
All the presidents of the kingdom, the governors, and the princes, the counsellors, and the captains, have consulted together to establish a royal statute, and to make a firm decree, that
whosoever shall ask a petition of any God or man for thirty days, save of thee, O king, he shall be cast into the den of lions.
All the royal administrators, prefects, satraps, advisers, and governors have agreed that the king should establish an
ordinance and
enforce a decree that for thirty days
anyone who petitions any god or man except you, O king, will be thrown into the den of lions.
And the king commanded, and they brought those men which had accused Daniel, and they cast them into the den of lions, them, their children, and their wives; and the lions had the
mastery of them, and
brake all their bones in pieces or ever they came at the bottom of the den.
At the command of the king, the men who had falsely accused Daniel were brought and thrown into the den of lions—they and their children and wives. And before they had reached the bottom of the den, the lions overpowered them and
crushed all their bones.
Then king
Darius wrote unto
all people, nations, and languages, that dwell in
all the earth; Peace be multiplied unto you.
Then King
Darius wrote to the people of every nation and language throughout the land: “May your prosperity abound.
After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast,
dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth: it
devoured and
brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it: and it was
diverse from
all the beasts that were before it; and it had ten horns.
After this, as I watched in my vision in the night, suddenly a fourth beast appeared, and it was
terrifying—
dreadful and extremely strong—with large iron teeth. It
devoured and
crushed; then it
trampled underfoot whatever was left. It was different from
all the beasts before it, and it had ten horns.
I
beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne was like the
fiery flame, and his wheels as burning fire.
As I continued to watch, thrones were set in place, and the Ancient of Days took His seat. His clothing was white as snow, and the hair of His head was like pure wool. His throne was flaming with fire, and its wheels were
all ablaze.
And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that
all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an
everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.
And He was given dominion, glory, and
kingship, that the people of every nation and language should serve Him. His dominion is an
everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and His kingdom is one that will never be destroyed.
I came near unto one of them that stood by, and asked him the truth of all this. So he told me, and made me know the interpretation of the things.
I approached one of those who were standing there, and I asked him the true meaning of all this. So he told me the interpretation of these things:
Then I would know the truth of the fourth beast, which was
diverse from
all the others, exceeding
dreadful, whose teeth were of iron, and his
nails of brass; which
devoured,
brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with his feet;
Then I wanted to know the true meaning of the fourth beast, which was different from
all the others—extremely
terrifying—
devouring and
crushing with iron teeth and bronze claws, then
trampling underfoot whatever was left.
Thus he said, The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be
diverse from
all kingdoms, and shall
devour the whole earth, and shall
tread it down, and break it in pieces.
This is what he said: ‘The fourth beast is a fourth kingdom that will appear on the earth, different from
all the other kingdoms, and it will
devour the whole earth,
trample it down, and
crush it.
And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the most High, whose kingdom is an
everlasting kingdom, and
all dominions shall serve and obey him.
Then the sovereignty, dominion, and greatness of the kingdoms under
all of heaven will be given to the people, the saints of the Most High. His kingdom will be an
everlasting kingdom, and
all rulers will serve and obey Him.’
And as I was considering, behold, an he goat came from the west on the face of the whole earth, and touched not the ground: and the goat had a notable horn between his eyes.
As I was
contemplating all this, suddenly a goat with a prominent horn between his eyes came out of the west, crossing the surface of the entire earth without touching the ground.
Neither have we
hearkened unto thy servants the prophets, which spake in thy name to our kings, our princes, and our fathers, and to
all the people of the land.
We have not
listened to Your servants the prophets, who spoke in Your name to our kings, leaders, and fathers, and to
all the people of the land.
O Lord, righteousness belongeth unto thee, but unto us confusion of faces, as at this day; to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and unto
all Israel, that are near, and that are far off, through
all the countries
whither thou hast driven them, because of their
trespass that they have
trespassed against thee.
To You, O Lord, belongs righteousness, but this day we are covered with shame—the men of Judah, the people of Jerusalem, and all Israel near and far, in all the countries to which You have driven us because of our unfaithfulness to You.
Yea,
all Israel have
transgressed thy law, even by departing, that they might not obey thy voice; therefore the
curse is poured upon us, and the oath that is written in the law of Moses the servant of God, because we have
sinned against him.
All Israel has
transgressed Your law and turned away, refusing to obey Your voice; so the oath and the
curse written in the Law of Moses the servant of God has been poured out on us, because we have
sinned against You.
And he hath confirmed his words, which he spake against us, and against our judges that judged us, by bringing upon us a great evil: for under the whole heaven hath not been done as hath been done upon Jerusalem.
You have carried out the words spoken against us and against our rulers by bringing upon us a great
disaster. For under
all of heaven, nothing has ever been done like what has been done to Jerusalem.
As it is written in the law of Moses,
all this evil is come upon us: yet made we not our prayer before the LORD our God, that we might turn from our
iniquities, and understand thy truth.
Just as it is written in the Law of Moses,
all this
disaster has come upon us, yet we have not sought the favor of the LORD our God by turning from our
iniquities and giving attention to Your truth.
Therefore hath the LORD watched upon the evil, and brought it upon us: for the LORD our God is righteous in all his works which he doeth: for we obeyed not his voice.
Therefore the LORD has kept the
calamity in store and brought it upon us. For the LORD our God is righteous in
all He does; yet we have not obeyed His voice.
O Lord, according to
all thy righteousness, I
beseech thee, let thine anger and thy
fury be turned away from thy city Jerusalem, thy holy mountain: because for our sins, and for the
iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and thy people are become a reproach to
all that are about us.
O Lord, in keeping with
all Your righteous acts, I pray that Your anger and wrath may turn away from Your city Jerusalem, Your holy mountain; for because of our sins and the
iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and Your people are a reproach to
all around us.
I
ate no pleasant bread, neither came flesh nor wine in my mouth, neither did I
anoint myself at
all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled.
I
ate no rich food, no meat or wine entered my mouth, and I did not
anoint myself with oil until the three weeks were completed.
And now will I
shew thee the truth. Behold, there shall stand up yet three kings in Persia; and the fourth shall be far richer than they
all: and by his strength through his riches he shall
stir up
all against the realm of
Grecia.
Now then, I will tell you the truth: Three more kings will arise in Persia, and then a fourth, who will be far richer than
all the others. By the power of his wealth, he will
stir up
everyone against the kingdom of Greece.
And in the end of years they shall join themselves together; for the king’s daughter of the south shall come to the king of the north to make an agreement: but she shall not retain the power of the arm; neither shall he stand, nor his arm: but she shall be given up, and they that brought her, and he that
begat her, and he that strengthened her in these times.
After some years they will form an
alliance, and the daughter of the king of the South will go to the king of the North to seal the agreement. But his daughter will not retain her position of power, nor will his strength
endure. At that time she will be given up, along with her royal
escort and her father and the one who supported her.
And after the league made with him he shall work
deceitfully: for he shall come up, and shall become strong with a small people.
After an
alliance is made with him, he will act
deceitfully; for he will rise to power with only a few people.
Neither shall he regard the God of his fathers, nor the desire of women, nor regard any god: for he shall
magnify himself above
all.
He will show no regard for the gods of his fathers, nor for the one desired by women, nor for any other god, because he will
magnify himself above them
all.
But he shall have power over the treasures of gold and of silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt: and the Libyans and the Ethiopians shall be at his steps.
He will gain control of the treasures of gold and silver and over all the riches of Egypt, and the Libyans and Cushites will also submit to him.
And I heard the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand unto heaven, and
sware by him that liveth for ever that it shall be for a time, times, and an half; and when he shall have accomplished to
scatter the power of the holy people,
all these things shall be finished.
And the man dressed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, raised his right hand and his left hand toward heaven, and I heard him
swear by Him who lives
forever, saying, “It will be for a time, and times, and half a time. When the power of the holy people has finally been
shattered,
all these things will be completed.”
I will also cause
all her
mirth to cease, her feast days, her new moons, and her sabbaths, and
all her solemn feasts.
I will put an end to
all her
exultation: her feasts, New Moons, and Sabbaths—
all her appointed feasts.
Therefore, behold, I will
allure her, and bring her into the wilderness, and speak
comfortably unto her.
“Therefore, behold, I will
allure her and lead her to the wilderness, and speak to her tenderly.
Therefore shall the land
mourn, and every one that dwelleth therein shall
languish, with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven;
yea, the fishes of the sea also shall be taken away.
Therefore the land mourns, and all who dwell in it will waste away with the beasts of the field and the birds of the air; even the fish of the sea disappear.
And the revolters are profound to make slaughter, though I have been a
rebuker of them
all.
The rebels are deep in slaughter; but I will
chastise them
all.
I know Ephraim, and Israel is not
hid from me: for now, O Ephraim, thou committest
whoredom, and Israel is
defiled.
I know
all about Ephraim, and Israel is not hidden from Me. For now, O Ephraim, you have turned to
prostitution; Israel is
defiled.
And they consider not in their hearts that I remember
all their wickedness: now their own doings have
beset them about; they are before my face.
But they fail to consider in their hearts that I remember all their evil. Now their deeds are all around them; they are before My face.
For they have made ready their heart like an
oven, whiles they lie in wait: their
baker sleepeth
all the night; in the morning it burneth as a flaming fire.
For they prepare their heart like an
oven while they lie in wait;
all night their anger smolders; in the morning it blazes like a flaming fire.
They are
all hot as an
oven, and have
devoured their judges;
all their kings are fallen: there is none among them that calleth unto me.
All of them are hot as an
oven, and they
devour their rulers.
All their kings fall; not one of them calls upon Me.
And the pride of Israel testifieth to his face: and they do not return to the LORD their God, nor seek him for all this.
Israel’s
arrogance testifies against them, yet they do not return to the LORD their God;
despite all this, they do not seek Him.
Yea, though they have
hired among the nations, now will I gather them, and they shall sorrow a little for the burden of the king of princes.
Though they
hire allies among the nations, I will now round them up, and they will begin to diminish under the oppression of the king of princes.
They shall not offer wine offerings to the LORD, neither shall they be pleasing unto him: their sacrifices shall be unto them as the bread of mourners;
all that eat thereof shall be
polluted: for their bread for their soul shall not come into the house of the LORD.
They will not pour out wine offerings to the LORD, and their sacrifices will not please Him, but will be to them like the bread of mourners;
all who eat will be
defiled. For their bread will be for themselves; it will not enter the house of the LORD.
The
watchman of Ephraim was with my God: but the prophet is a
snare of a fowler in
all his ways, and hatred in the house of his God.
The prophet is Ephraim’s
watchman, along with my God, yet the
snare of the fowler lies on
all his paths. Hostility is in the house of his God!
All their wickedness is in
Gilgal: for there I
hated them: for the wickedness of their doings I will drive them out of mine house, I will love them no more:
all their princes are revolters.
All their evil appears at
Gilgal, for there I
hated them. I will drive them from My house for the wickedness of their deeds. I will no longer love them;
all their leaders are
rebellious.
Therefore shall a
tumult arise among thy people, and
all thy fortresses shall be
spoiled, as Shalman
spoiled Beth-arbel in the day of battle: the mother was
dashed in pieces upon her children.
the
roar of battle will rise against your people, so that
all your fortresses will be
demolished as Shalman
devastated Beth-arbel in the day of battle, when mothers were
dashed to pieces along with their children.
And my people are bent to
backsliding from me: though they called them to the most High, none at
all would
exalt him.
My people are bent on turning from Me. Though they call to the Most High, He will by no means
exalt them.
Ephraim feedeth on wind, and followeth after the east wind: he daily increaseth lies and
desolation; and they do make a covenant with the Assyrians, and oil is carried into Egypt.
Ephraim chases the wind and pursues the east wind all day long; he multiplies lies and violence; he makes a covenant with Assyria and sends olive oil to Egypt.
And Ephraim said, Yet I am become rich, I have found me out substance: in all my labours they shall find none iniquity in me that were sin.
And Ephraim boasts: “How rich I have become! I have found wealth for myself. In all my labors, they can find in me no iniquity that is sinful.”
And now they sin more and more, and have made them
molten images of their silver, and idols according to their own understanding,
all of it the work of the
craftsmen: they say of them, Let the men that sacrifice
kiss the
calves.
Now they sin more and more and make for themselves cast images, idols
skillfully made from their silver,
all of them the work of
craftsmen. People say of them, “They offer human sacrifice and
kiss the
calves!”
I will be thy king: where is any other that may save thee in all thy cities? and thy judges of whom thou saidst, Give me a king and princes?
Where is your king now to save you in all your cities, and the rulers to whom you said, “Give me a king and princes”?
Though he be fruitful among his brethren, an east wind shall come, the wind of the LORD shall come up from the wilderness, and his spring shall become dry, and his fountain shall be dried up: he shall
spoil the
treasure of
all pleasant vessels.
Although he
flourishes among his brothers, an east wind will come— a wind from the LORD rising up from the desert. His fountain will fail, and his spring will run dry. The wind will
plunder his treasury of every precious article.
Take with you words, and turn to the LORD: say unto him, Take away
all iniquity, and receive us
graciously: so will we render the
calves of our lips.
Bring your confessions and return to the LORD. Say to Him: “Take away
all our iniquity and receive us
graciously, that we may present the fruit of our lips.
Hear this, ye old men, and give ear, all ye inhabitants of the land. Hath this been in your days, or even in the days of your fathers?
Hear this, O elders; and give ear, all who dwell in the land. Has anything like this ever happened in your days or in the days of your fathers?
Awake, ye drunkards, and
weep; and
howl,
all ye drinkers of wine, because of the new wine; for it is cut off from your mouth.
Wake up, you drunkards, and
weep;
wail,
all you drinkers of wine, because of the sweet wine, for it has been cut off from your mouth.
The vine is dried up, and the fig tree languisheth; the
pomegranate tree, the palm tree also, and the apple tree, even
all the trees of the field, are
withered: because joy is
withered away from the sons of men.
Gird yourselves, and
lament, ye priests:
howl, ye ministers of the altar: come, lie
all night in
sackcloth, ye ministers of my God: for the meat offering and the drink offering is
withholden from the house of your God.
Put on
sackcloth and
lament, O priests;
wail, O ministers of the altar. Come,
spend the night in
sackcloth, O ministers of my God, because the grain and drink offerings are
withheld from the house of your God.
Sanctify ye a fast, call a solemn assembly, gather the elders and
all the inhabitants of the land into the house of the LORD your God, and cry unto the LORD,
Consecrate a fast;
proclaim a solemn assembly! Gather the elders and
all the residents of the land to the house of the LORD your God, and cry out to the LORD.
O LORD, to thee will I cry: for the fire hath
devoured the pastures of the wilderness, and the flame hath burned
all the trees of the field.
To You, O LORD, I call, for fire has consumed the open pastures and flames have
scorched all the trees of the field.
Blow ye the
trumpet in
Zion, and sound an
alarm in my holy mountain: let
all the inhabitants of the land
tremble: for the day of the LORD cometh, for it is
nigh at hand;
Blow the ram’s horn in
Zion; sound the
alarm on My holy mountain! Let
all who dwell in the land
tremble, for the Day of the LORD is coming; indeed, it is near—
Before their face the people shall be much pained: all faces shall gather blackness.
Nations
writhe in
horror before them; every face turns pale.
Therefore also now, saith the LORD, turn ye even to me with
all your heart, and with fasting, and with
weeping, and with
mourning:
“Yet even now,” declares the LORD, “return to Me with
all your heart, with fasting,
weeping, and
mourning.”
And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon
all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall
prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:
And afterward, I will pour out My Spirit on
all people. Your sons and daughters will
prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions.
I will also gather
all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of
Jehoshaphat, and will
plead with them there for my people and for my
heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted my land.
I will gather
all the nations and bring them down to the Valley of
Jehoshaphat. There I will enter into judgment against them concerning My people, My inheritance, Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations as they divided up My land.
Yea, and what have ye to do with me, O Tyre, and Zidon, and
all the coasts of Palestine? will ye render me a recompence? and if ye
recompense me, swiftly and speedily will I return your recompence upon your own head;
Now what do you have against Me, O Tyre,
Sidon, and
all the regions of Philistia? Are you rendering against Me a
recompense? If you
retaliate against Me, I will swiftly and speedily return your
recompense upon your heads.
Proclaim ye this among the Gentiles; Prepare war,
wake up the mighty men, let
all the men of war draw near; let them come up:
Proclaim this among the nations: “Prepare for war;
rouse the mighty men; let
all the men of war advance and attack!
Assemble yourselves, and come,
all ye heathen, and gather
yourselves together round about: thither cause thy mighty ones to come down, O LORD.
Come quickly,
all you surrounding nations, and gather
yourselves. Bring down Your mighty ones, O LORD.
Let the heathen be
wakened, and come up to the valley of
Jehoshaphat: for there will I sit to judge
all the heathen round about.
Let the nations be
roused and advance to the Valley of
Jehoshaphat, for there I will sit down to judge
all the nations on every side.
And it shall come to pass in that day, that the mountains shall drop down new wine, and the hills shall flow with milk, and
all the rivers of Judah shall flow with waters, and a fountain shall come forth of the house of the LORD, and shall water the valley of
Shittim.
And in that day the mountains will
drip with sweet wine, and the hills will flow with milk.
All the streams of Judah will run with water, and a spring will flow from the house of the LORD to water the Valley of
Acacias.
Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of
Edom, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because he did pursue his brother with the sword, and did cast off
all pity, and his anger did
tear perpetually, and he kept his wrath for ever:
This is what the LORD says: “For three transgressions of
Edom, even four, I will not
revoke My judgment, because he pursued his brother with the sword and
stifled all compassion; his anger
raged continually, and his
fury flamed
incessantly.
And I will cut off the judge from the midst thereof, and will
slay all the princes thereof with him, saith the LORD.
I will cut off the ruler of Moab and kill all the officials with him,” says the LORD.
You only have I known of
all the families of the earth: therefore I will
punish you for
all your
iniquities.
“Only you have I known from
all the families of the earth; therefore I will
punish you for
all your
iniquities.”
Can a bird fall in a
snare upon the earth, where no
gin is for him? shall one take up a
snare from the earth, and have taken nothing at
all?
Does a bird land in a
snare where no
bait has been set? Does a
trap spring from the ground when it has nothing to catch?
And I also have given you cleanness of teeth in all your cities, and want of bread in all your places: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.
“I
beset all your cities with cleanness of teeth and
all your towns with lack of bread, yet you did not return to Me,” declares the LORD.
Therefore this is what the LORD, the God of Hosts, the Lord, says: “There will be
wailing in
all the public squares and
cries of ‘
Alas!
Alas!’ in
all the streets. The farmer will be summoned to
mourn, and the mourners to
wail.
And in
all vineyards shall be
wailing: for I will pass through thee, saith the LORD.
There will be
wailing in
all the vineyards, for I will pass through your midst,” says the LORD.
The Lord GOD hath
sworn by himself, saith the LORD the God of hosts, I
abhor the
excellency of Jacob, and
hate his palaces: therefore will I deliver up the city with
all that is therein.
The Lord GOD has
sworn by Himself—the LORD, the God of Hosts, has declared: “I
abhor Jacob’s pride and
detest his citadels, so I will deliver up the city and everything in it.”
Then
Amaziah the priest of
Bethel sent to
Jeroboam king of Israel, saying,
Amos hath
conspired against thee in the midst of the house of Israel: the land is not able to bear
all his words.
Then
Amaziah the priest of
Bethel sent word to
Jeroboam king of Israel, saying, “
Amos has
conspired against you in the midst of the house of Israel. The land cannot bear
all his words,
Shall not the land
tremble for this, and every one
mourn that dwelleth therein? and it shall rise up wholly as a flood; and it shall be cast out and
drowned, as by the flood of Egypt.
Will not the land
quake for this, and
all its dwellers
mourn?
All of it will swell like the Nile; it will
surge and then
subside like the Nile in Egypt.
And I will turn your feasts into
mourning, and
all your songs into
lamentation; and I will bring up
sackcloth upon
all loins, and
baldness upon every head; and I will make it as the
mourning of an only son, and the end thereof as a bitter day.
I saw the LORD standing upon the altar: and he said,
Smite the
lintel of the door, that the posts may
shake: and cut them in the head,
all of them; and I will
slay the last of them with the sword: he that fleeth of them shall not
flee away, and he that escapeth of them shall not be delivered.
I saw the Lord standing beside the altar, and He said: “Strike the tops of the pillars so that the thresholds
shake.
Topple them on the heads of
all the people, and I will kill the rest with the sword. None of those who
flee will get away; none of the fugitives will escape.
And the Lord GOD of hosts is he that toucheth the land, and it shall
melt, and
all that dwell therein shall
mourn: and it shall rise up wholly like a flood; and shall be
drowned, as by the flood of Egypt.
The Lord GOD of Hosts, He who touches the earth and it melts, and
all its dwellers
mourn—
all the land rises like the Nile, then sinks like the river of Egypt—
For, lo, I will command, and I will
sift the house of Israel among
all nations, like as corn is
sifted in a
sieve, yet shall not the least grain fall upon the earth.
“For surely I will give the command, and I will
shake the house of Israel among
all the nations as grain is
sifted in a
sieve; but not a
pebble will reach the ground.
All the sinners of my people shall die by the sword, which say, The evil shall not overtake nor prevent us.
All the sinners among My people will die by the sword—
all those who say, ‘
Disaster will never draw near or
confront us.’”
That they may possess the
remnant of
Edom, and of
all the heathen, which are called by my name, saith the LORD that doeth this.
that they may possess the
remnant of
Edom and
all the nations that bear My name,” declares the LORD, who will do this.
Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that the
plowman shall overtake the
reaper, and the
treader of grapes him that soweth seed; and the mountains shall drop sweet wine, and
all the hills shall
melt.
“Behold, the days are coming,” declares the LORD, “when the
plowman will overtake the
reaper and the
treader of grapes, the
sower of seed. The mountains will
drip with sweet wine, with which
all the hills will flow.
All the men of thy
confederacy have brought thee even to the border: the men that were at peace with thee have
deceived thee, and prevailed against thee; they that eat thy bread have laid a wound under thee: there is none understanding in him.
All the men
allied with you will drive you to the border; the men at peace with you will
deceive and overpower you. Those who eat your bread will set a
trap for you without your awareness of it.
For the day of the LORD is near upon all the heathen: as thou hast done, it shall be done unto thee: thy reward shall return upon thine own head.
For the Day of the LORD is near for
all the nations. As you have done, it will be done to you; your
recompense will return upon your own head.
For as ye have
drunk upon my holy mountain, so shall
all the heathen drink continually,
yea, they shall drink, and they shall
swallow down, and they shall be as though they had not been.
For as you
drank on My holy mountain, so
all the nations will drink continually. They will drink and
gulp it down; they will be as if they had never existed.
For thou hadst cast me into the deep, in the midst of the seas; and the floods compassed me about: all thy billows and thy waves passed over me.
For You cast me into the deep, into the heart of the seas, and the current
swirled about me;
all Your breakers and waves swept over me.
And he caused it to be proclaimed and published through
Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying, Let neither man nor beast,
herd nor flock, taste any thing: let them not feed, nor drink water:
Then he issued a
proclamation in
Nineveh: “By the decree of the king and his nobles: Let no man or beast,
herd or flock, taste anything at
all. They must not eat or drink.
Hear,
all ye people;
hearken, O earth, and
all that therein is: and let the Lord GOD be witness against you, the Lord from his holy temple.
Hear, O peoples,
all of you;
listen, O earth, and
everyone in it! May the Lord GOD bear witness against you, the Lord from His holy temple.
For the
transgression of Jacob is
all this, and for the sins of the house of Israel. What is the
transgression of Jacob? is it not Samaria? and what are the high places of Judah? are they not Jerusalem?
All this is for the
transgression of Jacob and the sins of the house of Israel. What is the
transgression of Jacob? Is it not Samaria? And what is the high place of Judah? Is it not Jerusalem?
And
all the
graven images thereof shall be beaten to pieces, and
all the
hires thereof shall be burned with the fire, and
all the idols thereof will I lay
desolate: for she gathered it of the
hire of an
harlot, and they shall return to the
hire of an
harlot.
All her carved images will be
smashed to pieces;
all her wages will be burned in the fire, and I will destroy
all her idols. Since she collected the wages of a
prostitute, they will be used again on a
prostitute.
Declare ye it not at
Gath,
weep ye not at
all: in the house of Aphrah roll
thyself in the dust.
Do not tell it in
Gath; do not
weep at
all. Roll in the dust in Beth-leaphrah.
In that day shall one take up a parable against you, and
lament with a
doleful lamentation, and say, We be utterly
spoiled: he hath changed the portion of my people: how hath he removed it from me! turning away he hath divided our fields.
In that day they will take up a
proverb against you and
taunt you with this bitter
lamentation: ‘We are utterly ruined! He has changed the portion of my people. How He has removed it from me! He has
allotted our fields to traitors.’”
I will surely
assemble, O Jacob,
all of thee; I will surely gather the
remnant of Israel; I will put them together as the sheep of
Bozrah, as the flock in the midst of their fold: they shall make great noise by reason of the multitude of men.
I will surely gather
all of you, O Jacob; I will collect the
remnant of Israel. I will bring them together like sheep in a pen, like a flock in the midst of its pasture— a
noisy throng.
Then shall the seers be
ashamed, and the diviners confounded:
yea, they shall
all cover their lips; for there is no answer of God.
Then the seers will be
ashamed and the diviners will be disgraced. They will
all cover their mouths because there is no answer from God.”
